TW for Constance's pov: Alcoholism

Citrine Blake, 10

District One Tribute A

Citrine sat in the career academy while watching students get prepared for the quell. The past week has been hectic for Citrine. She was shocked to find of about the twist, but she did find it quite interesting young tributes, and adult tributes will join the usual teen tributes. The students of District One academy have been working tirelessly to secure their spot as the volunteer, but no one has impressed the academy's head, Amaris Chang. Amaris has trained nine of District One's victors, a achievement she holds high. Citrine has only trained with Amaris a few times whenever she assisted the younger students while Citrine's trainer, Carmelo Cordelo, wasn't able to come to work. Citrine couldn't deny Amaris had a talent at training.

"Everyone please come to the secondary training room to find out our volunteers." Amaris announced through the loud speaker.

Citrine stood up from her seat and followed with a giant crowd of students. This was the first, and only time Citrine would walk with this group of people, and she knew that. Once everyone was in the secondary training room, Amaris walked in and coughed in order to gain everyone's attention.

"Students, after a long discussion time and decision making, the council and myself can make our decision. For the first time in history of our academy, I will not be selecting any volunteers." Amaris said with her arms cross and a glared.

The silence in the room broke into loud screams and questions from most of the students. All of them were confused and upset. Citrine didn't care if she was honest. Besides, she has always liked a little drama.

"ENOUGH! My decision is final, and you will respect my decision. Now, get back to work." Amaris screamed as she left the room.

The bell rang as students gathered their belongings and left the academy. Most of them were pissed off at Amaris for her decision. Citrine grabbed her bag and placed her training books inside and left the school. Her mother was awaiting at the entrance of the school.

"Hello my precious little girl! How was your day at the academy today?" Citrine's mother asked her as Citrine got into the car.

"Mrs. Chang didn't choose any volunteers mama. She said we were all unworthy." Citrine said as she bit her lip.

Citrine's mother sat in silence. She didn't know how to respond to that. Citrine's mother has always seen volunteers her whole life. It came off quite surprising that Amaris didn't choose anyone. Nonetheless, she still thinks her daughter has what it takes to be a great warrior. No matter what the situation is.

"That's weird….does that mean all of the tributes will be reaped?" Citrine's mother asked. It wasn't common for District One to have reaped tributes, but it has happened a couple times before. But what was not common was that all of the tributes are reaped. That has never happened.

"Yeah…it really is weird. I didn't mind it though." Citrine said with a hum in her tone.

As Citrine's mother pulled up to the driveway of their family's home, she opened the garage door and parked the car inside. Citrine pushed her hair to her back and got out of the car, and went straight up to her room.

Citrine looked at the calender and put an check on today's date.

"Just two more weeks until it's my birthday!" Citrine quietly cheered to herself.

Citrine fell onto her bed, as she looked around her room. Citrine has always been spoiled, but does she think that's a bad thing? No she doesn't. She likes getting new things for her room every once in a while. And people need to accept that.

"Citrine, dinner is ready!" Citrine's father yelled from the kitchen.

"Coming dad!" Citrine yelled back with a smile as she ran downstairs for dinner.

Constance Ruiz, 16

District Nine Tribute B

Constance has always found the best in people, or at least she tries. Even her deadbeat father may have some good in him? But Constance will never know. Constance sat in her class finishing her history final. Today was her last day of school, and she needed to pass it. History may not have been her best subject, but she knew she knew a good amount of it.

"Three minutes remaining."

She looked up at her teacher and right back down answering her last question. Constance let out a relieving sigh, and stood up to hand her test in.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." Constance whispered to her teacher before going back to her desk.

"Time's up. Please hand in your test."

Constance watched as a few handful of students turned in their tests. Most of them seemed completely upset because they couldn't finish.

Ring.

Constance gets back up from her seat as the final bell rings. She smiled slightly as she packed her belongings in her bag. Today was everyone's last day of school, and she couldn't wait to get home. As Constance leaves her classroom to her mother waiting outside.

Constance's mother has been drinking a lot lately especially since Constance's father left them during desperate times. Constance had always expected her parents' marriage wouldn't end well. Even as a young girl she would always hear her parents fighting in another room. Almost the point where it happened every night. It was only a matter of time before Constance knew they'd split, but she was hoping it'll happen after she and Raphael were older.

Constance still loves her mother and father very much, but Constance hated her mother's drinking. She was drunk every night and was still pretty bitter over Constance's father leaving them.

Nonetheless, Constance still wishes things could be different. But she knows the possibility of her family resurfacing is nearly impossible. And everyone knows that, even Rafael, who was very young when their parents split, knew that.

As Constance got into the vehicle, she gave her mother a hug and buckled herself up. Constance day was exhausting, but she knows now won't be the end of it.

Constance pov is a little shorter than Citrine's because I didn't have much planned for Constance intro than Citrine's but that will change eventually. Thanks for reading!
