Magical Origins

Year 1: Halloween

Harry woke up feeling refresh. Professor Snape explained to the house why he was so angry, and everyone immediately felt ashamed that they didn't understand the facts. According to the rumors he heard, Professor Snape threatens the House of Slytherin to let the matter be dropped and carry out their business, or they would be expelled.

Today he didn't have to worry about any of that. Today was Halloween. Harry always felt a secure connection to this date. He was sad to know this was the day his mother and father perish to save his life. Harry didn't wish to dwell on the past and looked forward to tonight. The older students were going to the magical village of Hogsmeade. Harry was planning to spend the day with Neville, who he had become friends with, given how much he understand Neville's feeling of being an outcast. Something the house Slytherin couldn't explain but didn't question it. Neville was equally confused about why Harry wanted to be friends with someone with him.

While Harry didn't tell anyone, he did it because Neville reminded him of himself and how he used to live with the Dursley's.

"Hey Neville," Harry said as he greeted spotted Neville at the entrance of the greenhouse.

"Harry." Neville squeaked out. Harry realized Neville needed to find his courage and make a stand for himself like he did when he discovered magic.

"Ready to partner up?" Harry said as he enters the greenhouse and takes out his dragonhide gloves. Neville takes out his own but had some trouble as he was nervous.

"Yes." Neville finally said. Harry raised an eyebrow and tried to have Neville relax. Neville was having a hard time as he was so nervous.

"Welcome to Herbology," Professor Sprout said as she stood before the class. Harry and Neville were the only ones partnered up while everyone else was partnered up with someone from their own house.

Blaise was with Draco and Nott, who was not happy with his arrangements.

"Today we are not going to be tackling bigger plants but rather dealing with the nonvenomous vice trap. Be careful; they have a powerful bite. Enough too take your fingers off. I want everyone to wear their dragon hide gloves. I see Mr. Potter and Mr. Longbottom are prepared. Ten points each to Gryffindor and Slytherin. Now, what's important isn't the planet itself, but rather the leaves of the plant. Please note that they are very defensives and protective of their leaves and will not give up their leaves without a fight. One partner is to restrain the plant; the other is to remove the leaves. Now can anyone tell me why the leaves are important?" Professor Sprout.

Hermione's hand as usual shot up in the air, however to everyone's surprise, so did Neville's. Professor Sprout was equally surprised as her colleagues must have told her how much Neville was struggling in his classes.

"Yes, Mr. Longbottom?"

"The Vice Trap leaves are a magical ointment. It's the oil of the leaves that can heal many skin problems and are even popular with witches as a skin treatment. They can cure pimples, boils, save you from many skin-like curses, and even help with curses." Neville said in what appears to be one voice. Neville turns red and tries to hide behind Harry for speaking so much. Hermione put her hand down, looking disappointed.

"Correct. Ten points to Gryffindor. As Mr. Longbottom stated, this is a magical herb where the oil is precious. The leaves will naturally grow back, but they will not be so kind as to give them up."

"Why, Professor?" Hermione asked.

"It's like losing a limb. You wouldn't want to lose one now, would you." Professor Sprout said as they all stared at her. Many looked sick at the thought of losing their limbs and began checking to see if they had one. Now, off to work." Professor Sprout said as they all began to take on the vice traps.

"Hold the vice trap just below its head Harry," Neville said as Harry was making mock attempts to hold it. Harry looked at Neville and did as instructed. Launching his hand forward, he manages to grab the bottom of the head and held it. It was much stronger than it appeared and was struggling within Harry's grip to get free.

Neville moved in carefully and quickly removed the leaves without so much trouble.

Harry was used to gardening, but this was different as the plants were alive and fighting back. Harry hates to see a magical weed and the fight they would give to stay rooted.

"Okay, I got the leaves next," Neville said.

They quickly moved on to the next one, while everyone else was still stuck on their first one.

A couple of tables away, Hermione and Ronald were partnered up and were not having good luck.

"Okay, stop, you need to grab it above the leaves, Ronald," Hermoine said in her usual bossy tone.

"This is not as easy as it looks, Granger." Ron snarled. He grabbed the plant but yanked his hand back the moment the plant bit him.

"Don't you have better gloves?" Hermione asked as she notices his worn-out dragon hide gloves.

"These are my best pair." Ron snapped.

"Well, clearly, it's not good enough; you need to buy a fresh new pair. Besides, you're holding it wrong."

"You do it if you're so clever." Ron snapped clearly in a foul mood.

Hermione grabbed the plant and was able to restrain it, but she was having difficulties maintaining her grip. Ron quickly moved in and tore off the leaves, ripping them in half.

"Ron!" Hermione cried out.

"What I got the leaves," Ron said, holding up his torn leaf.

"We need the leaves intact. I swear this better not affect my grade." Hermione said in a worried voice.

"That's all you care about is your grades. That's why you haven't got any friends." Ron snarled. Hermoine blinks and was trying to hold back her tears, but she wasn't able to. Grabbing her bag, she takes off running with tears in her eyes.

"What happened?" Professor Sprout asked the moment she arrived at Ron's station.

"We had a disagreement, Professor," Ron said. Professor Sprout eyes his torn leaf and eyes him with suspicion.

"In that case, I cannot give you any marks. You and Miss Granger will have a zero for today's assignment."

Unknown to Ron, Harry and Neville were watching the whole thing.

"I take it being in Gryffindor is a bad thing," Harry said the moment it was over.

"Ron usually takes the lead for the first years. It's hard to argue against him when he has three older brothers in the same house, even harder when one of the brothers is a Prefect. So no one goes against him. He doesn't like Granger because, as he says, she's a know-it-all. She tries to boss everyone about the right way to do things. What Ron said was harsh, but true… Hermione doesn't have friends. She lives like a hermit in the tower. She sleeps there, eats alone, and goes to class. She doesn't participate in any activities with the house because she's not welcomed." Neville said.

"You seem to be very talkative today."

"I like Herbology. It's the one place where I can be myself." Neville said.

"You should be yourself more often," Harry said.

"Hard too be," Neville mutters.

Harry didn't like Percy Weasley. The fifth-year seemed to have been popping up a lot where ever Harry was. Artemis Wynter and Percy soon got into it and causing Professor McGonagall to threaten them with taking away their Prefect badges if they didn't stop. Artemis would later explain to Harry that she and Percy Weasley have never seen eye to eye and hated each other from the first moment they laid eyes on each other. She suspected because she came from a noble house like his but was far better off and had a better education than he. She was also more relaxed about rules than Percy and was more popular. She suspected Percy hated her because she was better than him and had more than he did. This made Harry very nervous as Percy seemed to hate Harry as much as he did Artemis.

Harry was making his way to the feast in high spirits. Though it was an odd relationship, he and Neville grew to like each other. Neville learned Harry was not evil and was not planning world domination as Ron made people believe. Harry was still learning his place in the magical world. He didn't agree with many of Slytherin's policies, but there were many things he agreed with. Neville found he too agrees with some of Slytherin's policies. Harry promised Neville he would change the House of Slytherin to be respected again instead of being feared.

Harry was more focus on the feast, and he went down with Blaise, who was more than happy to be in Harry's company again.

Harry sat down and was eating a wonderful feast. Live bats were flying around with pumpkins that were talking to students who were floating around the room. Harry had the pleasure of tasting pumpkin pastes and pumpkin juice. A rare treat in the magical world that Harry should found enjoyable.

Harry was enjoying himself with Blaise, who was talking about the many Halloween parties that happened and the customs of Halloween in the magical world.

"Have you've noticed that Granger isn't eating with the rest of her house?" Harry said as he pointed to where all the Gryffindor first years were sitting, Granger was missing.

"Yeah, according to Pansy, she's in the third-floor bathroom crying her eyes out. Weasley finally crossed a line," said Daphne.

The doors burst open, and Professor Quirell burst through the Great Hall. "Troll, in the dungeons. Troll in the dungeon." He screams and stops in the middle of the great hall. "Thought you ought to know." He says before he passes out. It took a few moments, but everyone started screaming.

"Silence." Professor Dumbledore called out. "Now then, Prefects' will take the students to the fifth floor into the common hall where you shall continue your wonderful feast. Teachers will come with me to the dungeons." The moment Professor Dumbledore finished, the Prefects sprung into action, calling out their houses and trying to maintain so level of order.

"Slytherin into two lines," Artemis called out. Everyone quickly fell in line. In the house of Slytherin, even if you didn't like the person who was a Prefect or Head Boy or Girl, you had to follow their direction. House unity was treasured better than the other houses.

"How did a troll get in?" Harry asks Blaise.

"Don't know. Perhaps Peeves let one in as a Halloween joke. They're not that bright."

Harry suddenly grabbed Blaise's arm.

"What?" Blaise asked.

"Hermione, she doesn't know," Harry said in a low voice. Blaise stared at Harry with calculating eyes.

"Alright, but pray, we don't get caught," Blaise said, and Harry nods. The moment they hit a corner, they went the other way towards the third floor. If another Slytherin saw them, they did not comment.

When Harry and Blaise got to the third floor, they saw something that turns their blood turn cold. Harry wasn't the only one who realized Hermione didn't know. They could see Ron, Dean, Seamus all hiding behind a statue while Lily was trying to move a petrified Hermione. Standing above them and swinging a massive club that Harry could have sworn came from a tree trunk, was an enormous mountain troll.

Lily finally managed to get Hermione back inside the bathroom and closed the door. The troll smashed it down and went inside. Harry moved forward, knowing that the small space would not work well for the girls. What happened next surprised, even Harry. The troll soon roared in pain and came out holding its face. Smoke was rising from its face, but scorch marks were visible on his face. Harry rushed forward and slid on the ground, having his hand touching the ground before water erupted on the ground. The troll took a step at Harry the moment it saw him and slip falling on the ground with a loud thud. It did not get back up as he laid there motionless. The water soon disappeared, causing the three Gryffindor's to come out of hiding.

"Potter, what are you doing here?" Ron snarled the moment he realized Harry had to stop the troll.

"Not to save your arses. That's for sure," Blaise said as he walked up to Harry. His eyes showed amazement, and the look that he wanted to talk to Harry later.

Lily and Hermione came out of the girls' bathroom looking fine. Well, Granger's face was red, and her eyes were puffy.

Ron took out his worn-out wand and immediately pointed it at Harry.

"Ron, put that away." Lily snapped.

"No, he could have been the one who let the troll in and set it on Hermione," Ron said in a commanding voice. It was clear to all he was trying to mimic Professor McGonagall.

"Do I need to remind you that if it hadn't been for you, Hermione wouldn't have been in this situation in the first place," Lily said as she pulled out her wand. Everyone followed suit except Harry and Blaise. Even Hermione had her wand out and looked a bit scared. A duel was going too erupted.

Before anyone could so much cast a spell, footsteps could be heard, and Lily and Hermione put away their wand immediately. Everyone except Ron, who had a smug look on his face and looks very proud of himself.

"What is going on here? Explain yourselves." Professor McGonagall said the moment she arrived.

Everyone began talking at once, causing Professor McGonagall to look as if she wished she had asked a specific student. Professor Snape and Professor Quirell also arrived on the scene.

"It's my fault Professor," Hermione said. Everyone fell silent.

"Miss Granger?"

"I thought I could take on the troll myself because I have read so much about them. If they hadn't shown up, I would have been in serious trouble." Hermione said. Never has anyone heard Hermione lie to a teacher before.

"Miss Granger, it was very foolish of you to try to go troll hunting. Five points from Gryffindor. As for the rest of you, not many first years can take on a full-grown mountain troll and live to tell the tale. Five points each to your respected houses. For sheer dumb luck." Professor McGonagall added. It was clear to Harry that she didn't believe a word Hermione was telling her. "Now, off to your Common Rooms. Professor Dumbledore has moved the feast to your respected common rooms. Seeing how the troll was not in the dungeons. Now off you go." Professor McGonagall said as they march off towards their commons rooms. No one said a word as they made their way to the Common Room.

Hermione was waiting for Lily and Ron the moment they arrived.

"Thanks," Hermione said. No further words were needed as for the first time; they accepted each other as friends.

They went inside and started eating, and for the first time, they were enjoying each other's companies and finally accepted one another as friends.

Blaise walked with Harry to the Slytherin Common Room. They didn't say anything as they piled their plates with food. They ate in silence, enjoying the company of their fellow Slytherins. When they were done, Blaise dragged Harry to their room.

"You're an Elemental." Blaise finally said in a disbelieving voice.

"A what?" Harry repeated, unsure what Blaise meant.

"An elemental. You can use an element without the need to use a wand."

"I bet others can do it too, and I'm sure it's not a big deal. Professor Flitwick uses elements in his spells. "

"Oh no, you don't understand, an elemental only appears once every century. The difference is that Elementals have great magical talents, and they don't need to use a wand as much as a normal witch and wizard. I knew you were special, but I never thought you were this special."

"What do you mean?" Harry said.

"It means when you get older, you will be a force to be reckoned with even for Dumbledore. I don't know much about elementals, most of the time they come once a century and make some change in the world. In the nineteenth century, they fought in the Wizard Civil War in America. I understand they destroyed half of America in the progress before the war ended. That's all I know, their names have been lost. Hmm, not that I think about it seems only their deeds remain behind and not their names."

"Well, I think I'm going to change that," Harry said.

"I thought you didn't like attention," Blaise said.

"I do, but I don't want my name to be forgotten." Harry pointed out.

"Well, that's going to be hard to handle. People already love you." Blaise said.

"Naw, they just like me. They don't know me," Harry said.

"That is true. Even I have a hard time understanding you," Blaise said. Both of them laugh but wondered what spell Lily used on the troll to cause burning on its face.

A week had passed, and the school was abuzz about the troll incident. It was hard to believe, but Ron used this to say he did all the work and brought the troll down. When asked how his ears would turn red and muttered about words 'I don't want to talk about it' After a day of this the people turn to Hermione who claimed Lily fired a fire spell that burn the trolls face and Harry had made the floor into water causing the troll to fall on its head knocking it out. Many older students were impressed that they could perform fourth-year charms. Even Flitwick was impressed. He pulled them aside after class and asked them in detail where they learn the charm spell. Both of them turn pink and said they didn't intend to create elemental magic, and it just happened. In the end, it was ruled as accidental magic. It didn't stop people from being impress with there level of magical abilities.

Defense Against the Dark Arts soon turn out to be a big joke. They hardly did practical work and mostly read theories on spell work. When Lily asked why they couldn't use magic, Quirrell's muttered something about them being too young and not ready for defensive spells. He instead focusing on what was given to him by the declared admires for his long dedicated work. When asked details about his adventures, Professor Quirrell would turn red and instead talk about the weather or some other nonsense.

So Harry was back in his favorite class, learning about making objects fly. Or to be more specific, learning the levitating charm. Professor Flitwick has hinted that saying the incantation with the swish and flick of the wand.

Harry did not have much trouble, but Ron did, and he instead was the focus so hard on Harry. He was ignoring his work. Harry got full marks while Lily seems to be having trouble on how to levitate her feather.

At the end of class, Hermione made it known that she intended to be the best witch of the century. Harry snorted, knowing that Hermione cared about learning everything from books, but there was more to magic than learning every spell in the magical world.

Harry and Blaise were walking with Draco to dinner before Ron, and his two followers stopped them.

"What Weasley." Draco snapped. Ron ignored Draco and gave Harry a hard glare.

"You think you're so clever, don't you Potter? But I can see the slimly Slytherin scum you are." Ron said in a slow voice.

"Just because I don't want to be your friend that makes me evil. Explain something to me Malfoy, what happened to the Noble House of Weasley?" Harry asked, enjoying the red face Ron was giving me.

"They were once allies to my grandfathers, in the late seventies, they decided to betray my Grandfather and kill him. Because of this betrayal, they lost their noble house title and properties, which now belong to my father."

"Shut your mouth." Ron snarled. "My family was in their right to destroy a dark family like yours." Ron snapped.

"The Weasley's were once one of the darkest families in all of Europe. How many of your ancestors became Dark Lords' or served under a Dark Lord?" Draco said in a superior smirk.

Ron's face turns red in anger, and he was having a hard time controlling his anger.

"Tell you what Weasley. I'll give you a chance to regain your family's honor." Harry said with a smirk.

"How do you plan to do that?" Ron demanded.

"Simple Weasley, you must defeat us in a wizard's duel," Draco said, who seemed to be catching onto what Harry was implying.

"Fine, only spells no contact," Ron said.

"I'm his second, who's yours?" Draco declared.

Ron turns to Dean and Seamus, sizing them up, looking to see who would be more effective.

"Seamus," Ron said.

"Midnight, in the Trophy's room. That's always unlocked." Draco said as the three Slytherin's left laughing.

"I'm going to be surprised if he falls for that," Draco said.

"Oh, he'll get in trouble regardless," Harry said, laughing.

"What do you got in mind, Harry?" Blaise asked who was confused by the whole conversation.

"I need to find Artemis and have her report to Filch." Harry simply said. Both Draco's and Blaise's eyes open wide.

"Potter, that's brilliant," Draco said, patting Harry on the back.

"It what he deserves, going around telling everyone I'm a Dark Wizard who can petrify them just by looking at them. I hope he gets in serious trouble. Filch will most likely try to get the stupid idiots expelled." Harry said with a laugh as he enters the Slytherin Common Room. As if luck were on his side, Artemis Wynter was doing her homework on the table at the far end of the room. This caused a big smile placed on his face as he walks up to her. The Fifth Year Prefect was on the verge of giggles when Harry told her his little plan to get some Gryffindor's in trouble.

"I wouldn't go if I were you two," Lily said as she was sitting on the couch, reading a book on defense theories.

"It's time I showed that slimly snake what a true Gryffindor can do."

"I doubt you can hurt him, Ron. He's too powerful for you." Lily said in a matter of fact type of voice.

"That's why I'm going to take him out now before he becomes too powerful." Ron declared. Lily rolled her eyes as her newest friend and knew he was only going to find himself in the hospital wing.

"Oh, I might as well come with you two," Lily said as she shut her book and got up.

"What why?" Hermione said as she was listening to the conversation. She was suddenly very against Lily joining Ron, Seamus, and Dean.

"Because these idiots are going to need to be taken to the Hospital Wing after Potter is done with them," Lily said. Hermione paled at Lily's words, but the three boys look like she was delusional.

They open the door with Lily following them.

"Neville?" Ron said as he eyed the person outside their common room entrance.

"Hey, you guys, what's the password I can't remember it."

"It's 'Pigs Fresh' Neville. But it won't do you any good; the Fat Lady has gone off somewhere." Lily said. She wasn't mad that Neville became friends with Harry, but she was worried about Ron's rash behaving and illogic thinking.

They were barely halfway down the corridor when Hermione came running towards them.

"What are you doing, Hermione?" Ron asked.

"I almost told your brother, Percy, he's a Prefect. He can put a stop to this." Hermione said.

"Don't, and I want to deal with Potter alone. When the nights over with, I'll make sure Potter is expelled." Ron said.

"Lily," Hermione said, turning to her only female friend.

"I'm coming to take Ron to the hospital wing when Potter's done with him," Lily said, shrugging her shoulders as if she didn't care.

"I can't believe you guys," Hermione said as she turns to walk back to the Common Room. She stops short when she realized the Fat Lady wasn't in her portrait. "Now, what I am going to do?" Hermione said out loud.

"Not our problem, we're going to be late I want to be their early to ambush Potter before he can ambush me," Ron said as he walked down the corridor.

He was barely around the corner when Neville and Hermione ran up to them.

"Don't leave me. The Bloody Baron has already past by twice to torment me." Neville said in a shiver. Hermione said nothing but said she rather have some company than remain alone in the dark.

They had no trouble getting to the trophy. Lily took her time to look around and spotted a name on a Quidditch Trophy. James Charles Potter. Lily couldn't help but wonder if this guy had any relation to Harry.

"I have to agree with Lily Ron. Harry has been most likely trained since he was young in the best and most extreme magical arts. You don't have any chance of defeating him." Hermione said, giving off one of her reason in hopes Ron would abandon his foolish hope to dueling Potter.

"He's muggle raise," Lily said.

"What?" Ron and Hermione said.

"You didn't know? Muggles raised him. I understand he hates them very much. I think they're his family from his mother's side." Lily said as if they should have known this fact already. She raised an eyebrow as she looks at them. "Didn't you guys know that?" Lily asked. They all shook his head.

"Harry disappeared after You-Know-Who disappeared. Dumbledore never told anyone where he put Harry, but it was assumed whoever had him was also reasonable for teaching him magic. This made this rumor truer as Harry has been the best in all of our classes. Well, all expect History of Magic. I don't understand why he doesn't show up to class after our first one."

"I'll tell you why he is practicing Dark Magic instead," Ron said.

"I doubt that. The short time we spend together outside of Hogwarts, Harry has never shown any interest in the Dark Arts." Lily said.

"Lily, Slytherin's are always the first to fall to the Dark Arts. Maybe you're right, and Potter isn't learning Dark Magic, but he will. Slytherin's are evil and have a dark history of becoming or serving Dark Lords'." Ron said in a matter of fact tone. Lily merely rolled her eyes, not believing a word of it. She found it hard to believe a single house can be labeled 'evil.' Every House had its light and dark. That's what she believed, and she was sure they're wizards who have gone dark from Gryffindor.

A noise outside caught their attention, and everyone fell silent. Dean and Seamus moved behind a suit of armor and were ready to push it the moment the door open.

"Sniff around, my sweet. They're here somewhere." A voice said.

"It's Filch," Lily whispered. The door opens, and sure enough, Argus Filch, the caretaker of Hogwarts, walked in. Dean and Seamus panicked and pushed the suit of armor, causing it to crash on top of Filch. They took off and ran straight out the door.

"Wait," Ron shouted, Lily, Hermione, and Neville were hot on his heels. They ran on the stairwell, but before they get to the fifth floor and go to their Common Room, the staircase shifted and began to change. It stopped short of the third floor, and they all got up scared to look behind them in case Filch was there.

They all stop after running for five minutes.

"Where are we?" Lily asked.

"The Third Floor Corridor. This place is forbidden," said Hermione. They all looked around, and the place looked very abandon. Spider webbing was covering everything. There were no paintings or suits of armor, but there was the meanest and ugliest looking Gargoyles position next to a door.

"Let's get out of here. This place gives me the creeps," Ron said as he turns around. He stops short when they all hear a loud 'meow.' Turning around, they see Mrs. Norris standing there.

"Thought the door," Lily said. They all turned around and ran towards the door but were met with a powerful screeching sound that pierces their ears.

"What is that?" Ron shouted. His hands cover his ears in pain.

"It's some sort of alarm," Hermione said.

"Get to the door," Lily said as she moved towards the door. Ron got their first and pulls on the handle hopeless as the door refused to open.

"It's lock we're done for," Ron said, fearfully.

"Move aside. Alohomora." Hermione said, casting the Unlocking Charm. The door opens at once, and all four of them rush inside at once. The sound immediately died down, and they stood behind the door listening. After a few moments, Mrs. Norris was gone, and so was Filch.

"They're gone. We can go." Hermione said.

"Good, Neville, get off of me," Ron said. Neville gave a whimpered and didn't move. It was then the rest of them felt hot breath breathing down their necks. Afraid yet gathering courage, Hermione, Ron, and Lily turns around and met a giant three-headed dog staring at them with menacing eyes. It started to give lows growls, but the growling soon got louder. Screaming, the four of them opens the door and shuts the door as the Cerberus attempted to bit them. Its mouth was bigger than their entire bodies and capable of swallowing them whole.

They ran, the alarm sounded again, but they didn't care as they were more worried about their lives than getting expelled. They didn't stop until they reach Gryffindor tower. They found the Fat Lady back in her portrait and gave the password before rushing inside.

"What the hell are they thinking, keeping a dog like that lock inside the castle," Ron said the moment they caught their breath.

"Didn't you see what it was standing on?" Hermione said.

"The floor Hermione. In case you didn't notice, it was trying to eat us. Now I see why that floor is forbidden." Lily said, holding her sides as they were aching from running so hard.

"No, not a floor, behind it, there was a trap door. I notice it just as we left the room. It was clear Potter and Malfoy were never going to show they tricked you into coming. They must have told Filch that we would be there." Hermione said.

"Dirty stinking Slytherin's," Ron muttered.

"You have to admit that's a good way to defeat your opponent. By having another do it." Lily said. Hermione gave a sour look to Lily.

"I'm going to bed before we do something that's get's us expelled or killed," Hermione said.

"Wait up, Hermione, you have to admit that was an excellent adventure," Lily said, running to follow Hermione to their dorm.

"Have you've lost your mind, Lily?" Hermione said. Lily gave a small laugh and began badgering Hermione.

Ron shook his head and went to bed, thinking this was all a plot to kill him. He was sure Potter knew the Cerberus was there and had chosen the Trophy Room because he knew Ron would run towards the Third Corridor.

"Any signs of the intruders last night, Minerva?" Dumbledore asked at breakfast.

"No, they gave us the slip before we could arrive." Professor McGonagall said in a tired voice.

"I see. What about the door?" Dumbledore asked.

"Remains undisturbed. The locking spell you place on it remains undisturbed. Our guardian seemed to have visitors, students by the looks of it. A first or second year." Professor McGonagall said.

"Then we don't have to look for them," Dumbledore chirped.

"Why Professor Dumbledore?" Professor Sprout asked. She, too, was up late last night looking for any sign of an intruder.

"Because I think running into an angry Cerberus will be enough to scare them from returning there again. Plus, I'm sure they will be telling their fellow students what they witness. All we have to do is wait and see who starts talking about Hagrid's Cerberus." Professor Dumbledore said in a cheerful tone. The other Professor couldn't see any fault in his logic. They knew rumors would start spreading in Hogwarts about the Cerberus; all they had to do was follow the source of the stories.

Draco, Blaise, and Harry were shocked when they went down to breakfast the next morning. They found Gryffindor didn't lose any points, and Ron was looking tired but cheerful.

"Damn that Filch. He failed to catch them. They must of run the moment they knew he was coming." Draco said in frustration.

"Relax Draco; we got other chances. We better avoid them for a while as they will be on guard because they were tricked." Harry said. Draco nodded in agreement, and Harry stared hard at Lily, who was also looking tired but cheerful. She gave a wave to Harry the moment she caught Harry staring at her. Harry couldn't help but wonder what was making her so damn bright.

Authors Note: Ron has a very unhealthy obsession with Harry. Ron desires to be the one who has Harry expelled from Hogwarts. He has it set in his mind that he believes Harry will grow up to be the next Dark Lord. I also gave the Weasley family a bit of a dark background. They lost their noble status after they betrayed their allies, the Malfoy's. That is why they don't get along because Lucius hates the Weasley's for taking his father from him and the Weasley's hate the Malfoy's for serving the Dark Lord and destroying many families. This makes them hate each other like sworn rivalries. Most families have a dark history, and Ron's grandfather betrayed the Malfoy's when they asked for support against Dumbledore's Order. Instead, the Weasley's killed Abraxas Malfoy, leaving Lucius Malfoy, the head of the Malfoy Family.

I did this because there will never be peace between the Weasley's and Malfoy's, and I wanted to show the Weasley's were not as light as people believed. I also found the security around the Sorcerer stone lacking and pathetic. The door is an open death trap to the waiting arms of a Cerberus. I added an alarm, one that will go off in the area and will pierce the person's sound so hard that it almost makes them deaf. The trap door has a locking spell of Dumbledore's design. This is to ensure no students can get past the Cerberus and on their way to the Sorcerer Stone. The alarm is also set into the office of every Professor of Hogwarts so they will wake and immediately go to the Third Floor.
