Magical Origins

Year 1: The Forbidden Corridor

Gryffindor won their match against Hufflepuff in record time. Lily caught the snitch within the first five minutes earning a hundred and eighty points to their already substantial lead. That put them with four hundred and twenty points for the InterHouse Quidditch Cup. Gryffindor was currently the favorites to win the cup. However, it was safe to say that Ravenclaw wasn't out just yet. Despite only having three hundred and ten points, Ravenclaw was training every day to win the Quidditch Cup. For the first time in seven years, Slytherin looks like it was out of the race.

Flint was determined to win their next match. Which was against Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff was looking to have their first win in the season. As they have lost their first match against Ravenclaw, then lost against Gryffindor. Hufflepuff was training just as hard just to stay in the race. However, it was clear they wouldn't be in the Finals. Only three houses were racing towards the finals: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. However, Slytherin was in third place with two hundred and seventy points while Ravenclaw had three hundred and ten points. Gryffindor was ahead with four hundred and twenty points, making them the favorites to win. Both Ravenclaw and Slytherin needed to win their next matches to have a chance at the Finals. Hufflepuff was trailing with two hundred and thirty points.

Harry remembers asking Flint on how do the Houses win the Cup, Flint told him that he didn't have to worry about it, and his job was to catch the snitch, or he would find another seeker who would do his job. It was Artemis who finally told Harry how the InterHouse Quidditch Cup was won and its system.

Memory Reflection Charm

"The rules are simple," Artemis began. "three chasers, two beaters, one keeper, one seeker. Chasers have to play both defense and offense. Their job is to handle the Quaffle. Every time Quaffle goes through one of the three rings, that team is awarded ten points. The moment a team scores, the other team is awarded the Quaffle and tries to score themselves. There are two circles. The first is the Keeper circle. This is the area where the Keeper stays in. No team is allowed to attack the Keeper unless they're in that circle. You also have to be mindful of staying inbounds cause if you go out of bounds even as a Seeker, the other team is awarded a penalty, which is basically a free shot at the goals. There is a second circle. This is the teams' circle. When the Keeper has the Quaffle, he is allowed to pass to his teammates without being attacked. No team is allowed to attack the Chasers until they have possession of the Quaffle. As a Seeker, you really don't have to worry about this rule."

"So, Chasers also try to stop the other Chasers from scoring," Harry asks in a slow voice.

"That's correct, they play both defense and offense. Then comes the Beaters. They're mostly serving as defense to protect the Chasers, but they're a bit offensive too. They carry Beater Bats. Their job is to stop Bludgers from hitting their teammates while also directing the Bludgers to attack the other team. It can be a bit tiring from what I hear." Artemis said.

"So, the Keeper is not allowed to leave the Keeper Area at all," Harry asks.

"No, if he does, the other team is awarded a penalty. They got a tough job, they're job is simple. Stop the other team from scoring. That means they have to guard all three posts carefully."

"How do teams win matches, and how does Hogwarts host the InterHouse Quidditch Cup?" Harry asks.

"Hogwarts InterHouse, Quidditch Cup rules, are different from professionals," Artemis said. "Remember the Houses first match. Gryffindor vs. Slytherin?"

"Yeah," Harry said.

"We won sixty points, while Gryffindor won two hundred and forty points. Now, we have two more matches to win. If we win a hundred and eighty points next match, then we add a hundred and eighty to our already sixty points. Making our total two hundred and forty points. If we win two hundred points in our third match, then that is added to the rest of our points, making our total two hundred and forty points. This is done with all four houses. Each house tries to add as many points as they can to increase their chance to have a lead. The more points you have, the better off your team is. After the Finals, all the points you won in the Quidditch Match is added to your house points for the Hogwarts House Cup, which is awarded at the End of the Year."

"Is the House Cup really a big deal," Harry asks.

"It is. Basically, the House has the right to rub it in the faces of the others." Artemis said.

"So basically, it's bragging rights," Harry said.

"Never heard that term. But it sounds good. I don't really care for the House Cup." Artemis replies.

"Why?" Harry asks.

"It's childish. I don't really like having my time worrying about the House Cup. As you get older, you will care less about it as well. I honestly think it's a waste of time."

"Does Percy share your feelings?" Harry said with a grin.

"Merlin no. He's all about rules and perfection. He really wants to win the House Cup and rub it in my face. He's been upset that Slytherin has won it for the past six years. Though it didn't help that, I rub it in his face that his house is so pathetic. Every year too." Artemis said with a grin on her face.

Both of them started laughing, enjoying the thought of Percy feeling frustrated.

Memory Reflection Charm Ends

Harry thought of nothing else, after his conversation with Artemis. It was strange, as Artemis was like the sister he never had. She always was there for him. However, Harry was on guard and was more than aware that Artemis could just be using him for her own personal gain. For the time being, he accepted her until the time to part ways.

There was no time to relax, the Easter Holidays were over, and all the Professors were stressing about the importance of their exams.

Every student could be seen either in the Common Room or library with stacks of books around them. Harry was one of them, as he and the rest of the first years were going over their papers and notes he had collected.

Tonight was an odd night. As everyone was getting ready for both their exams, as well as the Quidditch finals. Harry was avoiding Flint as he was questioning Harry's skills to catch the Snitch. It was like the fact that he was ignoring the fact someone was jinxing his broom to kill him. Flint didn't care, he just wanted the Snitch caught.

Instead, Harry was walking around the corridors, trying to avoid the problems he was having.

So it was completely unexpected when he ran into someone near the forbidden third floor.

"Freckles?" Harry asks as he sees Lily running.

"Harry, what are you doing here?" Lily asks, coming to a stop.

"Trying to clear my head. What about you?" Harry asks, wondering why she was running in the first place.

"I'm going through the trap door," Lily admitted straight away.

Harry blinks at her sudden boldness. To bluntly say to enter the Forbidden Corridor after they were warned not to enter was something only a fool would do.

"Why are you so interested in the Third Corridor?" Harry asks.

"We think Snape's going to steal the Sorcerer's Stone," Lily said.

Harry paused.

"You're going to have to back up and explain everything," Harry said.

So, she did, about how she, Hermione, and Ron have overheard Snape threatening Quirrell. About his trips to the Forbidden Forest to drink Unicorn Blood. Even during the Quidditch Match how he was jinxing his broom to make him fall off.

"If this is true, then you have to tell Professor Dumbledore," Harry said slowly.

"We tried. He's not in the castle tonight. I think Snape sent him a note telling him the Ministry needed his help." Lily said.

"I'm going to regret this," Harry said as he follows Lily to the Third Corridor.

"Where is the Know-It-All and the Blockhead?" Harry asks.

"Do you have to insult them even when they're not here?" Lily snaps. Harry said nothing as he looks at her. She finally sighs, knowing the answer to her own question. "They're trying to get the teachers involved. They went to Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick. However, I'm not sure that will work as Professor McGonagall has already told us off once."

"If this is the Sorcerer Stone, then you know that Dumbledore would have put all kinds of protection around it. He's not just going to leave it hidden behind a door for someone to grab."

"We know, Hagrid told us."

"That oaf?" Harry said in surprise.

"He's not an oaf," Lily said in a defensive tone.

"Yes, he is, an incompetent oaf," Harry said.

"Hagrid told us that all kinds of teachers added their own defense to the stone, and Dumbledore did something as well," Lily said.

They both came to a stop as they look at the Third Floor Corridor and immediately notice the door was open. They said nothing as they walk inside. Harry saw a three-headed Cerberus laying down with a harp magically playing.

"Weasley wasn't lying." Harry breathed.

"Come on, it's asleep," Lily said as she opens the trap door. Without saying a word, she jumps down with Harry following her.

"What is this?" Harry asks the moment he lands on something very soft. It was then he noticed that it reacted immediately and began to wrap itself around his body quickly.

"Devil Snare!" Lily shouted in a panic.

Harry attempted to reach for his wand, but the Devil Snare had a good grip on him.

Suddenly a bright glow appeared before his eyes, and a fire erupted where Lily was before it spread to the plant-killing it immediately.

Harry was let go as the fire spread caused the plant to wither as the fire caused it to burn and wither away. Harry lands on the ground as the Plant was thrashing about around him. He was sure if the plant had a voice, it would have been screaming.

Lily said nothing as she hopes down and lands beside Harry.

"What?" She said to him.

"Nothing," Harry said as he looks down the tunnel. It was dark.

"Activate your mystic eyes," Harry said as the silver orbs appeared in his eyes. "I don't want to get lost. As I'm sure, the next part is a labyrinth."

"I can't hold it for long," Lily said as the orange orb appeared in her eyes.

'Neither can I.' Harry said to himself as he takes a step forward.

With the mystic eyes, they were able to see in the dark as if it were the day. As well as magic, circle's and runes. The problem was they couldn't hold their mystic eyes for long.

"Can you hold fire in your hand to use as a torch?" Harry asks Lily.

"What am I to you? The human torch?" Lily said.

"You have the power of fire, fire illuminates light. Once our mystic eyes vanish, we'll be walking blind. I rather see where we are going." Harry said calmly.

Lily said nothing as she puts her hand in front, and fire appeared in the palm of her hand.

"Do you think we're going to get expelled for being down here?" Lily asks as they continue walking downwards.

"Perhaps, I can't say for sure," Harry answers calmly.

"Why do you hate muggles?" Lily suddenly said.

Harry stops and looks at her. As he did, his mystic eyes disappeared, and he seems into Lily's oceanic blue eyes. Harry narrowed his eyes as he looks at her.

"I don't hate muggles, despite what the rumors surrounding me about muggles and muggle-borns. True, I don't have any muggle-born friends, and my treatment towards Granger hasn't been the best, but I don't hate her, nor do I hate muggles or muggle-borns." Harry said.

"Then, why?" Lily asks.

Harry sighs as he turns to give her his undivided attention.

"It's how I was brought up," Harry said.

"I don't understand," Lily said.

"When I was one year old, Voldemort attack my family and killed my father and mother. We know he tried to kill me, too, but he failed. As you learned back in August, I was brought up by my mother's sister, my aunt, and my uncle. They have a son too, older than me. However, what they did to me, is something I find unforgivable." Harry said slowly.

"Explain," Lily said. So Harry did. How he was raised in a cupboard in the stairs, how he was criticized for having good grades that were better than his cousin. How his cousin bullied him with his friends and made a game called 'Harry Hunting' which was to find him and beat him to a pulp. How he wasn't appropriately fed and force to cook all their meals and do all the chores. Forcing him to watch his cousin being spoiled rotten while he got his cousin's hand me downs that were too large for him. How they never took him shopping for clothes.

"… this treatment ended last year when I had my… Awakening. I heard you nearly destroyed a town with your fire."

"Yeah, I've been terrified since that day. Afraid I would lose control." Lily said slowly.

"For me, it was the happiest day of my life. I finally broke free and accepted who I was. My family no longer had chains on me, and I could finally be free. Only that illusion quickly faded as I still have to live amongst them. I want nothing to do with them, and I want to be rid of them. I hate my family… I don't hate muggles or anyone with muggle relations."

Lily said nothing, but she knew her eyes were wide. What she heard was, no doubt, years of child abuse. This would explain his cold attitude to everyone around him. It wasn't that he dislikes people, he was wary of them. Afraid to be hurt again. It wasn't that he didn't want friends, he was concern about who he could trust.

Ron had Harry all wrong. She knew that from the beginning, but this only proved that Harry wasn't the monster that Ron wanted people to believe.

"Don't tell anyone," Harry said, breaking Lily out of her thoughts.

"I won't," Lily said as tears fell down her face.

The two said nothing more as Harry continue to venture forward. Both knowing, what was waiting, was the infamous Dark Lord, Lord Voldemort.

Author Notes: And it's finished. I change the InterHouse Quidditch Cup settings different. I hope that clears everything up about the InterHouse Quiddich Cup as well as the Hogwarts House Cup.

Quick note: As you may have noticed, I had Harry reveal his past with the Dursley's. While I like the books, J.K. Rowling did something wrong, and she made Harry happier and go-lucky with a smile than he should have. Living ten years in a cupboard and being mentally abused by his relatives would have left him feeling like a husk. I know this because I went through something similar to Harry's treatment growing up. I was abused as a child.

Please, no pity or comments about this personal fact about me.

Harry should have had his guard up and been more careful about who he lets into his life. Many children who are abused become E.D. meaning Emotionally Damage. This makes them (in this case, Harry) incredibly fragile. As a single emotional wreck could kill him.

Lily's role is going to be a healing role for Harry. The same way my friend was to me. My friend saved my life many times over, Lily is going to save Harry and heal him through his pain. (She was the one who named main for this story Lily)

I'm glad the First Year is almost done,
