Chapter Four

Two days, it's been two days since the last time I saw Fleur and after my talk with Harry. I realized that my best friend was right, that I should give this a chance in getting to know Fleur. I may not accept the blonde's proposal to marriage but we can still be friends and raise our baby together. But for the past days, Fleur didn't show up or did the blonde changes her mind and decided to leave me on my own since I rejected her.

You even told her not to come back, remember? An inner part of my brain chastised me. I snorted and told it to shut up.

If she doesn't come back like she said she would, it's not my problem. I can take care of my baby on my own. I told myself but deep down a part of me is wishing that Fleur wouldn't go back on her word.

I was pulled from my thoughts when there was a knock on my office door and my assistant appeared in the doorway.

"Miss Granger, your ten o'clock interview is here."

I looked at my assistant puzzled. "Interview?"

My assistant entered my office and closed the door before handing me a file. "It's for a citizenship application but the applicant has a creature's blood. The immigration office wants you to do the interview before they approve the application."

I frowned and took the file from my assistant. There was already a law in place that any applicants with creature's blood that wishes to migrate to England, has no need to undergo any interviews with regards to their blood status and everyone knew this. "Is there a problem with this applicant?" I asked without opening the folder.

"I don't know the specifics but they insisted that you do the interview." My assistant fidgets where she stood as I appraised her critically.

I sighed, there's nothing else I can do since the applicant was already there but the immigration office will hear a word from me once I'm done with this interview. "All right, let them in." I said and my assistant excuses herself and opened the door. "You can come in now, Miss Delacour." She called out which made my head snap towards the door when a certain blonde appeared in the doorway. My assistant excuses herself once again and left my office, closing the door it behind her.

"Fleur…?" I breathed, I'm not sure if it's out of happiness or surprise upon seeing the blonde but Fleur just smiled.

"Hello, Hermione." Fleur said and approached my desk.

I stood up and gestured for Fleur to sit on one of the chairs in front of my desk. "Please sit down," I told her and retake my own. I opened the folder in front of me and I was presented with a parchment that has Fleur's basic information.

CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION

NAME: Fleur Isabelle Delacour

BORN: 30 October 1992

BLOOD STATUS: Quarter – Veela

MARITAL STATUS: Single

NATIONALITY: French

OCCUPATION: Curse Breaker (Gringotts Wizarding Bank – France)

Reasons for migrating to England?

Hermione Granger

My eyebrows shoot up in surprised upon seeing my name in Fleur's application. Is this a joke? No wonder why the immigration office passes it to my department. "Can I have an explanation for this part?" I asked and showed her the parchment where my name was written.

Fleur's eyes twinkled with mirth and twined her fingers that were placed on top of her crossed legs, the legs that I can't help but admire. Today though, Fleur was wearing a black tight leather pants in which she paired with low heeled boots and a loose gray blouse covered with long brown coat. Very French and it really suits the blonde.

"Well, I'm just being honest with my answer." Fleur said with the air of confidence like its reason enough to move to another country. I rolled my eyes and glared in her direction to emphasize that I want serious answer from her. "I want to be here in case anything happens not just for the baby but for you as well." Fleur explained then added. "We both know that you can't hide your pregnancy forever."

I scoffed at her words. "I'm not hiding my pregnancy."

"Good to know. Don't misunderstand me because I admire your bravery on how you are handling this, but the media will eat you alive once the news gets out about your pregnancy." Fleur said and looked at me with understanding when I sighed. "You are a well known person, Hermione. And news like this will surely bring media into frenzy just to get the story behind it."

"Are you suggesting that I hide like a coward?" I asked and I can feel my temper rising at Fleur's implication to hide myself while being pregnant. Was that what she meant by staying close so she can convince me to hide?

Fleur looked at me calmly and uncrossed her legs and leaned forward in her chair, she reaches out for my hand that was resting on top of my desk and gave it a slight squeeze. "You misunderstand my point, Darling." She smiled in assurance. "I'm just warning you of what might happen that's all."

"I don't care what might the media cooks up about my pregnancy. I'm already used to them tarnishing my name for years." I told her but Fleur shook her head and I realized that I don't know anything about the blonde, if what kind of family she has.

I never heard about the Delacours before but could it be that they are a well known family in France. Does Fleur having a child out of wedlock will cause trouble for her family? Was it the reason why Fleur proposed marriage? I looked at Fleur ashamed of myself. All this time, I only cared about myself. Never once did I bother asking Fleur if how this pregnancy was affecting her too.

"I'm so sorry!" I said as I covered my face out of embarrassment when I felt the burning heat that was starting to crawl from my neck to my face.

I removed my hands slowly away from my face when I felt Fleur's hand on my wrist and the slight pull that the blonde was doing. "What's the apology for?" she asked as she looked at me with concern.

"I'm sorry for being selfish. I… I was only thinking about myself that I never considered your feelings or what might be the implication of my pregnancy to your name, your family." I said in panic and Fleur was quick to stand from her chair and move around my desk, she turned my chair towards her and kneeled in front of me then pulled my face down until our foreheads are touching.

"Calm down, Darling. Take a deep breath." Fleur commanded softly.

Staring into those dark blue eyes, I lost myself. I was like in limbo that the only presence I can feel is hers. Instead of panicking, I felt something warm embracing me and for some reason it calm me down. I know that it's coming from Fleur but I can't describe what it was, was it her magic?

"What was that?" I whispered without pulling away from Fleur.

"You felt my thrall." Fleur said. "I used it to calm you down."

"I see…" I uttered and closed my eyes and try as I might, I can't help but to enjoy our closeness.

"You are not going to ask me about my thrall?" I can hear the amusement and curiosity in Fleur's voice, but I don't have the energy to deal with so many questions right now.

"Not now, but we can talk about it over dinner?" I smiled when I felt her take a breath, I opened my eyes and brown met blue. "We still need to talk about a lot of things. Why don't we take this chance and get to know each other since we are both committed to our baby."

"I want nothing more but to get to know more about you too." Fleur admitted with a smile. "What I read in those papers doesn't give you justice."

"Don't believe everything you read in those papers." I told her. "Most of them are lies."

"About that dinner… Is it presumptuous of me to ask you to dinner tonight?"

I shook my head and pulled away from her hold. "Its fine, but we finish this interview first."

Fleur stood up from her kneeling position and went back to her seat. I turned my seat to face her once again and looked down on her file. "It says here that you are working for Gringotts in France as a curse breaker. Doesn't it affect your job by moving to another country?"

"I already filed a request for transfer and still waiting for the approval, but if they don't grant me that transfer. I'm planning to resign and just do part time jobs for them." I looked at her surprised but didn't say anything. "You and our baby are more important for me than my job. I can always apply for other jobs that are available as long that I can stay near you." Fleur said it like it's a normal occurrence to her everyday life. I shook my head at her carefree nature and proceed with other questions.

After covering everything in her file, I wrote my recommendation for approval in the bottom of her application and closed the folder. "I will pass your application to immigration office and you'll probably hear a word from them within this week." I said and stand from my chair and offered my hand to her. "Welcome to England, Miss Delacour." I said for formality sake and I think Fleur understood it as she too stood and accepted my hand.

"Thank you, Miss Granger."

We shook hands and let go.

"I guess it's time for me to go and leave you to your work." Fleur said as she gestured towards the door. "So, dinner tonight?" she asked.

"I'd love to. Where should I meet you?"

"Are you familiar with Rosario's?"

"The restaurant near Gringotts?"

"Yes. Is six a good time for you?"

"I'll be there." I told her and walked around my desk to escort her out of my office. We stop and looked at each other when we reached the door.

"Thank you for giving me the chance to be there for you and our baby."

"Thank you for being persistent."

Fleur smiled and peck me in the lips and left my office quickly, I was left flabbergasted but not in unpleasant way. It will surely takes time to adjust on Fleur's spontaneous tendencies, but I knew that it's part of getting to know her and I can't wait to see her again for dinner.

"So, you are having dinner with your Baby Mama." Harry said as he longue lazily on my bed while watching me search my closet for something nice to wear for dinner at Rosario's. I looked over my shoulder and glared at him.

"Please don't call her Baby Mama."

After Fleur left my office, I told my assistant to cancel all my appointments in the afternoon and went to Harry's office, where I told him everything that had happened and about my date with the blonde. Harry volunteered to help me in choosing my clothes for tonight which we always do for each other, if one of us was our plus one in every party we attend together.

"But she is, your baby's mama so Baby Mama. Wow, it actually rhymes." Harry said and laughs at his own joke. I rolled my eyes and turned around to show him the tight fitting black dress which length reaches my knees. "Put it on quick. You only have one hour left." He said and I went inside the ensuite bathroom to change. Harry let out a whistle of appreciation when I came out. "Can you ditch Baby Mama and go out with me instead?" he asked, eying me up and down.

I flip him the bird and heard him laugh when I went back inside the bathroom to fix my hair and makeup. I studied my reflection in the mirror; the black dress was off shoulder with one strap on the right to hold it up and the rest emphasizes all of my curves, I turned sideways to check on my stomach and I can see the unnoticeable baby bump, unless a person looks at it closely. I turned again to face the mirror and decided to put my chestnut colored shoulder length hair into loose braid before putting it up in coif. After fixing my hair, I put on a light make up.

Satisfied, I left the bathroom once again and went back to my bedroom where Harry was already waiting with my three inches black slingback high heels pumps and white coat.

"Make them see another side of Hermione Granger." Harry said proudly as he help me put on the shoes and my coat.
