A/N: Sorry to disappoint but this chapter is short and it's been in my folder sleeping since 11/15/21

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters and this story is just a figment of my imagination.

Chapter Six

It's been a week since that night and the feeling of her body against mine still lingers. I want to see her again but Hermione Granger made it clear that it was a onetime thing between us. The woman didn't even bother to ask for my name and it was also my fault for not telling her. My plan had completely and utterly failed. Although I can always go to England and visit the woman, but I can't go right now since I was given another assignment and it's on the other side of the world. Talk about an impeccable timing to send me away. It must be karma for wasting the chance that fate had given me.

I was on my way to my bedroom to pack the things that I'll need for my trip but when I reached the bottom of the stairs, the door to the library that was next to it was pulled open and Gabrielle beckons me to follow her into the room. Upon entering the room, I was surprised to see that it wasn't just my sister who was in the room but also my mother and grandmother.

"What's going on?" I whispered when I sat down next to Gabrielle on the sofa.

Gabrielle shrugged. "I had no idea."

I looked at my mother who was sitting on Gabrielle's other side but she just shook her head, and when my grandmother turned around away from the desk to face us, she was holding the family book and put it down in front of us. Each Veela family owns a book like this one; it was a family heirloom that has been pass down from the eldest child and to the next. The book was the same with any family books that in wizarding world uses. Except, Veela's family book can determine if anyone in their family is having a baby.

I looked at my mother and sister confused before our gazes turned to the oldest woman in the room. Sylvie Dubois, the woman was tall and beautiful and despite her old age she still looks young and regal.

"Is there something you want to tell us, Maman?" it was Apolline, my mother who asked the question.

Sylvie didn't say anything and open the book to a certain page, where my name was written. What surprise us though, were the lines that are connected to my name. Below my name, there was a line that said Baby (fetus) but the line that was connecting me and the baby's other parent is empty.

"Are you pregnant?" Gabrielle asked feigning shock while looking at me with those wide blue eyes.

"You want me to hit you?" I glared at her then returned my gaze to my grandmother. "I'm not pregnant." I said out loud when I saw the scrutinizing look from my grandmother and mother. "And stop laughing." I told Gabrielle when I saw her snickers and hits her arm. "But why is the space for my suppose child's other parent is missing?" I asked confused when I looked down at the book.

"If you're not the one pregnant, it only means one thing." My grandmother said. "You mon enfant, got someone pregnant."

I frowned while Gabrielle snickers once again and about to say something, most probably a crude remark but our mother reprimands her. "That's not possible, grand-mere." I said.

"Have you forgotten the lessons I thought you when you are still a child?" My grandmother asked shaking her head and said. "It is possible if they are your mate."

"My mate…" I whispered and I can feel the conflicting emotions swirling inside me upon learning that I have a mate even though I'm just a quarter veela. It's not that I've forgotten the things that my grandmother taught me about Veelas but I never took it to heart when it's about finding Veela's mate. Because according to my grandmother it's very rare for any Veela whether they are full blooded or quarter like me, to find their mate. "I… I don't know what to feel…" I voiced out looking at my family confused. "I mean… It's no secret that I've been sleeping around with different women and now you are telling me that one of them was my mate and I didn't recognize them?" I asked looking at my grandmother lost.

"Maybe you didn't see the sign because your head was full of lust." Gabrielle said rolling her eyes and I glared at her.

"This is not the time for your jokes, Gabrielle." I told her.

"I'm not joking. You said it yourself, Fleur. You've been sleeping around with different women like it was nothing." Gabrielle said standing up from her seat. "Do you even know the names of the women you've slept with?" she asked and I looked away in shame. Because most of what Gabrielle was saying was the truth except for one thing.

Hermione Granger, the only woman whose name I could never forget.

"That's enough, Gabrielle." Sylvie said calmly and sighed. "The only thing that we can do for now is wait." She said and looks at me. "We'll never know who it is until your mate is aware that they are pregnant." Sylvie said closing the book. "I'll let you know once the name appeared. We can't allow for the baby to be born out of wedlock." She added firmly at the end while looking at me.

I sighed and stood up from my seat and left the library without saying a word, there's still the packing I need to finish and an assignment to get to. There's no need to sulk in the corner because as much that I wanted to know if who might be my mate is, there's nothing I can do but wait until it was revealed.

And no matter how much I wish for it. It's impossible that a certain brunette can be my mate.

Two months later….

I was engrossed in writing my report about one of the vaults that I opened earlier when I suddenly felt my heart started beating fast and an emotion that I'm sure doesn't belong to me. Something is happening and I can feel it. Is it my mate? Was she having a panic attack? I thought as I try to comprehend the emotions I'm currently feeling.

I got momentarily distracted when Gylfie, my grandmother's white owl landed on top of my desk and holding a letter towards me. I gave the owl some treats after taking the letter and told her to go back to my grandmother. I opened the letter with haste and gasped at what was written in it. I covered my mouth with my hand when I heard my own sob, only then that I realized I was crying out of joy.

Fleur,

The name of your mate has finally appeared and it's Hermione Granger.

Your grandmere,

Sylvie

The letter was short but it made my day complete and I can feel the happiness and contentment radiating from my body. I can't believe it, the gods has not forsaken me after all. Hermione Granger, my love is my mate, the soon to be mother of my child. Oh, what a wonderful news indeed.

After recovering from my shock, I quickly grab a new parchment and wrote a letter to my mother to get all the information I needed to find the woman. My hand was shaking as I started to write my letter. No, I can feel my whole body shaking with excitement and happiness and I can feel my heart beating so fast. I took a deep breath to try and calm it down and waited until it finally slows down. If this is how it feels about knowing who my mate is, what will happen then when Hermione and I meet again? That is a question that I had no answer yet.
