Magical Origins

Year 2: The Witch of the Wind

Harry made his way to the healer wing, where Artemis was currently residing. To say she was shocked that she had to be in the healer wing made her protest. That was until Harry explained what Lockhart did to her.

The moment her mother and father found out, they had screamed bloody murder.

Lockhart had not only been sacked, but he lost his Order of Merlin as well as his various awards. An investigation had been launched to find out who else Lockhart has been dealing with. The Daily Prophet ran a full article of his actions.

Many girls in the school were shocked that Lockhart was really a fraud.

It got worse when they learn he was an attempt to ensnare Artemis Wynter's mind so she could become his trophy wife.

Harry was brought to the present when he enters the Healer Wing and sees Artemis reading a book.

"Hey Artemis," Harry said as he walks up and sits beside her.

"Harry,"

"How are you feeling?" Harry asks.

"Good," She admitted.

"Did they find out what Lockhart did?" Harry asks.

"Seductive Charms, Love-Bind Charms, some minor love potions, as well as memory charms when I apparently threatened to report him. They also found an incomplete slave contract that appeared that he was trying to get me to sign." Artemis said.

"I should have been more careful," Harry said he nearly lost Artemis.

"I'm just as much to blame. I should have been aware he would try to pull that on me. I wasn't careful enough. I merely thought that keeping my distance would do."

"How long till you're clear?" Harry asks.

"I should be good tonight," Artemis said. "Madam Pomfrey wants to make sure there no lasting effects. I'm also starting to feel more like myself. I heard what you did, why did you…"

"You don't have to worry," Harry said, knowing full well how worried he made Artemis.

"You are my Lord. I have to worry about you. It's my duty." Artemis said.

"There's a feast tonight. Dumbledore is going to speak to the school." Harry said.

"What happened?" Artemis asks.

Harry told her in great detail.

"Slytherin's monster was a basilisk," Artemis said in shock.

"It was terrifying at first," Harry said as he smiles. He closes his eyes and remembers just how scared he was.

He opens his eyes and looked far more serious.

'Am I going to become the next Dark Lord? Am I following in his footsteps?'

"Potter!" Ron Weasley shouted as he enters the Healer Wing.

Harry turns around and sees the entire Weasley were at the doorway.

"What are you doing here?" Ron snarled.

"Be polite, Ron, he saved Ginny's life." Mrs. Weasley said as she bonks him on the head.

Ginny Weasley was resting in her bed. Her magic was slowly coming back, as was her life. However, she still needed plenty of bed rest.

The Weasley family said nothing as they walk over to Ginny's bed, though Ron threw Harry a nasty look.

Harry smiles as Artemis places a hand on his shoulder.

"You are nothing like him. If you were, I would not stand behind you." Artemis whispers. "He enjoyed being cruel, and I've seen your real self. You are kind." In saying that, Artemis kisses Harry. It wasn't on his forehead like in the past, this was on his lips.

Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Ronald Weasley snaps his broken wand in half. Clearly frustrated that Harry was getting kissed by the most beautiful girl in the entire school.

Artemis breaks the kiss as she leans back, beaming at Harry as he looks dumbfounded at her. Artemis smile found its way to her face.

Harry grew a smile on his face, and he half wondered if Artemis did that to piss off Ron and Percy. Or if she was serious about pursuing something with him.

Both brothers were shaking with anger and frustration. Fred and George had knowing smiles on their faces. Ginny looked shocked, as well as a bit hurt.

Harry sits down at the Slytherin table, with Artemis, who had been finally cleared. The house colors were once again Gryffindor. Slytherin had come in second. To everyone's delight, the petrified students were among them. Their friends and housemates all talking to them excitedly.

Dumbledore rose to his feet.

"Attention," Dumbledore said as silence filled the Great Hall. "We've had quite an ordeal this year. There are, of course, many rumors as to what happened as well as to who was behind these attacks. I believe you all have the right to know.

"Once, there was a student named Tom Riddle who came here fifty years ago. A brilliant student with a hunger for learning all kinds of magic. His favorite… was the Dark Arts. Today, he goes by another name. That name is Lord Voldemort."

The Great Hall gasp out loud.

"While Voldemort was known to do many things, he did have a sick hobby. One such hobby was to grab his school things and leave them behind as he fills them with Dark Magic. A student discovered one of his old-school items and soon became possessed by Voldemort's magic." Dumbledore holds up the diary so all could see it. "Almost as if his spirit itself has taken over the student, Voldemort Diary force this student to do terrible things to her peers. That is why, when I look at each and every one of you. I am reminded of a simple fact. That countless witches and wizards, both powerful and wise, have been forced to do terrible things under the Dark Lord's control. That is why, if you see something suspicious or believe one of your peers is acting unusual, report it immediately to your Professors to potentially save that student life." Dumbledore paused as he looks around the Great Hall.

"The Chamber of Secrets has been closed, and the Monster within has been slain," Dumbledore said as the Great Hall erupted in cheers. He raises his hands up, and silence filled the Great Hall once more. "Two students risked their lives to close the chamber. They showed great courage and unity as they battle the Heir of Slytherin and the Monster he controlled. I am, of course, speaking about Harry Potter of Slytherin and Liliana Morris of Gryffindor."

Everyone turns to look at the two.

"Words cannot express how brave it was to face the Monster, knowing full well that facing it could mean instant death…"

"Professor!" Lily said, raising her hand.

"Yes, Miss Morris," Dumbledore said softly.

"What do we do with the Basilisk?" Lily said out loud. Everyone gasp out loud.

"A basilisk, in the school!" several students shrieked out.

"Ah, yes, before you go home, can you and Mister Potter take me to the chamber. As rights of conquest, you and Mister Potter will be able to share the spoils of victory. If I may be advised, you can sell it to make quite a fortune." Dumbledore said with a smile on his face.

"How did you kill it?" A third-year Hufflepuff student shouted.

"Er…" Lily said.

"She just had to say it aloud," Harry mutters.

After the feast, Harry and Lily led Dumbledore to the Chamber of Secrets. He said nothing as they led him through the darkness of the tunnel.

"Extraordinary," Dumbledore said as he eyes the Basilisk.

Nothing was said as countless students wanted to see the Basilisk first hand. They all were gathered around the courtyard as Dumbledore levitates the beast on the field. Several students actually scream at the sight of the colossal beast.

Harry walks forward and plucks one of its venomous fangs out.

"You can have the spoils, Lily, I already have enough," Harry said as he returns to the Slytherin.

The wind at the moment blew hard, and Harry heard it. A soft sound of a woman's giggle.

Then it disappeared.

Harry said nothing as he rejoins the Slytherin's.

Everyone was chatting away as the last day had finally arrived. Professor McGonagall made an announcement that as a school treats, the exams were canceled. They were all chatting and eating the last meal. Smiles on their faces.

That was until Seamus Finnegan, and Dean Thomas burst through the halls.

"Guys! Potter and Lily are dueling!" Seamus shouted.

Everyone immediately got up to see the duel. They rush to the courtyard where Harry and Lily were indeed dueling.

Harry jumps back to avoid Lily's spell before snapping one himself.

'She's gotten faster.' Harry groans as he raised a shield. The spell hits it dead on. But instead of disappearing, it seemed to hold in place, almost as if it was trying to penetrate his shield.

Her spells disburse before Harry snaps his wand at her. Her shield seemed to have held, but she was knocked back.

She slides backward before raising her wand and fires a duo of spells at Harry.

Harry raises his shield, and again, her spells didn't disappear. Instead, they seem to have been trying to eat away at his shield.

'Her offensive power has grown…however…' Harry realized as he fires his own blasting hex at Lily. She raised her shield only to be forced away once again. 'Her defense hasn't improved.'

Both of them raised their wands and fire their spells at each other. Entering another deadlock, both struggle to push each other's spells back.

Harry breaks it and fires another disarming charm as it hits Lily just as he dodges her spell. Lily took a direct hit and flew and flip backward. She landed on the ground and had a look of frustration on her face.

"That's enough." Professor McGonagall said. She walks forward with her wand out. Almost as if she was afraid of another incident like the dueling club was going to happen.

Lily gets up and looks at Professor McGonagall, as did Harry.

"Why is it that whenever I turn my back, you two are fighting?" Professor McGonagall says as she sighs from all the stress the two were giving her.

"Sorry, Professor." They said in unison.

"No more dueling. Not unless you do it in the presence of a professor. I've got enough gray hairs from the two of you." Professor McGonagall said as she turns to leaves.

"I win," Harry said with a smirk.

Lily let out a cry if frustration as Harry turns rejoins the school.

Harry put his trunk in his compartment. He turns around to see some Hufflepuff students standing there.

"What?" Harry snaps.

"We just want to say… sorry." Ernie MacMillan said slowly.

"I also…" Justin began. "Want to say thank you. You saved me twice. Lily told us what you said to the Snake at the dueling club."

"Please forgive us," Hannah said.

"The purpose of the Four Houses was to create a friendly rivalry between the students. To become friends, yet be able to push each other to become better. Now that has disappeared. I hope you and Miss Morris can reunite the school once again." Dumbledore's words echoed in his mind.

'I am not Tom Riddle.' Harry thought to himself.

"You guys realize my reputation has been ruined. And you helped destroy it. Maybe one day, but not today."

"We understand," Ernie said slowly. It was clear he was disappointed, but he didn't push it.

"If you guys want to sit, you can," Harry said as he sits down.

They look shocked but walk in the compartment. They put their things away and sit down.

"Hey Harry," Draco said, arriving just after the boys took their seats.

"You guys are late," Harry said.

"You're with Puffs, really?" Draco said.

"Relax, it would be good to spend time together. Besides, I find the whole House divide system stupid. We're not in school, we can be friends with whom we want. Relax Draco and sit down.

Blaise, Draco, and Pansy, along with Daphne and Tracy, walk-in.

"Hey, Harry,"

"Bloody hell," Harry mutters as Lily appears with some Gryffindor's.

"No fair, you got the biggest compartment." She said, but a smile was on her face. She walks in with Neville. Some Ravenclaws in their year walks in.

"Now, this is a crowd," Harry mutters as he gets up.

"Sit," Lily said, pointing her wand at him. Harry groans as he sits back down.

Harry smirks at Lily.

"By the way, Lily, aren't you five to nothing now," Harry said.

It was Lily's turn to groan as a scowl appears on her face.

"Just you wait, soon I'll beat you in a duel, then you'll be sorry." Lily hissed.

"When did this first start?" Hannah asks.

"After our first year, when the top student notice was released," Harry said.

"I insisted I was better than him. He is the arrogant ass that he is, told me to settle for second place. He then challenged me to a duel, which he won. Though he cheated." Lily said.

"It's not my fault. All I did was call you flat chest, and you let your guard down." Harry said.

Lily was quick, firing a stingy hex that Harry barely avoided.

"Temper, temper. I see it hasn't changed." Harry said calmly.

"Why do you sink to her level?" Draco asks.

"Because Draco, she's the only rival I got. Without her, I wouldn't be able to get stronger. I'd be like Weasley, wasting my talent every day."

Draco snorted.

To everyone's surprise, Lily said nothing in defense of her friend.

They laugh and joke as the train moved through the country and further south. As the train stops, Harry looks out the window.

'Maybe I'm not like Tom Riddle, I do have friends.' Harry thought with a smile.

Harry said nothing as he grabs his things and walks out behind Lily.

"Interesting isn't it." A voice said in his ear.

Harry stops dead before looking around him to see who had whispered in his ear. To his surprise, he saw no one. He looks at Lily and mouths 'It's her.'

"Being an elemental means, you're destined for greatness. However, being a Parselmouth is a puzzle. Will you follow the footsteps of your predecessors, or will you become free?"

Harry was freaking out. He could hear the voice almost as if the person leaning in his ear, but he could feel and nothing behind.

"You two have grown in interesting ways. Your growth has astonished me. I am inquisitive as to where this path will lead you."

'Maybe it's a Parselmouth. Maybe that's why they could hear the voice, and no one else could.'

"No, I am no Parselmouth. I told you we would meet." The woman said as she seems to have to guess what Harry was thinking.

Harry grips his wand tightly.

"How we stand is up to you, but I am more curious about seeing you two once again." She said. "Because you two aren't the only elementals out there." She said, just then, the wind picks up, and everyone in the station had to grab their things from being blown away.

It was then Harry notice a witch sitting down looking right at him. She was far away, but Harry could see her. She had black hair and fair skin. However, what truly capture his attention were her eyes. They were dark blue, with white bolts raging through them. Almost as if the white bolts were lightning. A white ring could be seen around her blue eyes.

Then she disappeared as the wind died down.

"We shall meet once again. If you seek me, simply speak to the wind. I shall hear." She said.

Harry's eyes open wide as both he and Lily drop their trunks.

A Wind Elemental has appeared.

Author Notes: I hope everyone enjoyed the chapter. As some of you have noticed, Harry is starting to have internal struggles with his relationship with the Dark Lord. As he seems himself similar to Voldemort. I feel Harry has to find himself to escape Voldemort's shadow. I hope you guys enjoyed it.

The Mysterious Witch has finally revealed herself. A Wind Elemental has finally appeared. And to answer this question before I'm bombarded with them, yes, there will be an Earth Elemental.
