Magical Origins

Year 3: The Summer Problem

Harry had returned to Private Drive, after saying farewell to his friends and Artemis, as well as her family. The Wynters again promised to pick up Harry as soon they could.

However, Harry's mind wasn't on that.

The witch who could control the wind was on his mind. Harry dug into his book to find out more, but his Book of Shadows didn't have anything of wind. Only water and its uses for elementals.

This witch knew at once his abilities and gifts. She was someone who knew he was a parselmouth.

What truly astonished Harry was the fact that she could sit in the middle of a station, and no one seemed to have noticed her. It was like she was invisible to them.

It was also clear she was powerful, very powerful.

Harry's own growth in hydrokinesis was also something that caused him to take his mind off the Dursleys. He was now freely able to bend water at will. Even turn it to ice.

Today he was reading a letter from Artemis.

'Wish you were here, Harry, everyone is sad that you keep having to return to the muggles. We'll come to get you soon. I got a muggle bikini!' Harry's face turns red as he tried so hard not to imagine Artemis in a bikini. It was hard as she was incredibly beautiful and gorgeous. According to Lockhart, she was the most desired witch in all of Britain. Harry scuffs as he remembers Lockhart. Trying to bewitch and ensnare Artemis mind so she could become his trophy wife. Artemis' parents had flipped out when they discovered the truth of that insufferable fool.

Harry shook his head clear and went back to the letter.

'I managed to get into my seventh year at Hogwarts. Top marks! Mom and dad are so proud. Anyways this may be the last year we spend together. After Hogwarts, I'm going to be a healer like mom. I hope I can see you soon, let me know if the muggles give you any trouble,

Love Artemis.'

Harry smiled as he read her letter. He was looking forward to being able to spend time with her without the general nosiness of the Hogwarts students.

Harry decided to head downstairs to get something to drink. The summer heat was the worst for him as a water elemental. The summer always made him sweat and get dehydrated. It was something he learned in his Book of Shadows. He would be strong during the winter but weak during the summer.

Harry grabs large water and drinks it. He literally drained it dry before going to grab another and putting it to his lips.

"That's enough!" Petunia shouted. Harry turns to look at her, his lips not removing themselves from the bottle. "Ever since you came back from that school… all you've done is drink all our water. No more, buy your own!" Petunia shouted.

"If you took me to buy some drinks from my world, it wouldn't be a problem," Harry said he lowers the bottle.

"No way, you know what will happen if we go near…" Petunia said, but she stops, unable to finish what she wanted to say.

Harry knew exactly what Petunia feared so much. That she would be turned into a toad.

Harry said nothing as he grabs two more glasses of water and walks up the stairs to write a letter to Artemis.

Before he could, he notices a barn owl waiting for him holding a letter.

Harry took one look at it and realized it was a Hogwarts letter for his third year.

Harry opens it, and something fell out. It was a badge. Harry slowly picks it up and stares at a large Captain. The Slytherin colors surrounded it with two wings.

It took him a moment to register that he had been made Quidditch Captain.

Marcus Flint had barely managed to graduate. He got one of the lowest scores ever in the House of Slytherin. If he didn't graduate, he would have been dismissed. With Flint gone, the Slytherin team had no captain. He was sure that Miles Bletchley or Adrian Pucey would have been captain.

Harry checks the letter to if it explained why this had happened.

"Despite having misfortune in your Quidditch matches, I hope as Captain, you'll shape up and give Slytherin the honor of the Hogwarts InterHouse Quidditch Cup. Do not disappoint me. Professor Severus Snape, Head of Slytherin."

Harry grins as he puts his new badge on his chest. Now he could legally use the Prefect's Bath.

His mind raced to the fact Artemis would join him in the bath with her new bikini. She might even be naked.

Harry felt the blood rushing to his face and tried to contain himself.

He looks back at his school list and noticed something else.

"Permission slip for Hogsmeade..." Harry mutters.

The Wynters would sign it without question. However, the problem was they were not Harry's guardians. They were only Vassals. The only guardians he had were the Dursleys. This was going to be a challenge. As the Dursleys did not like Harry enjoying himself.

Harry said nothing as he turns to his parchment to write to Artemis.

"Boy! Get down here!" Vernon bellowed.

Harry sighs as he puts down his quill and goes downstairs.

Harry stood in front of Vernon with a cold glare in his eyes. Vernon wasn't affected by his glare.

"I'm here to inform you that Aunt Marge will be coming over to stay for a week," Vernon said.

This caused Harry to groan out loud. Aunt Marge was Uncle Vernon's sister, and she had a cruel personality. While she favored Dudley, she treated Harry horribly. She loved setting her bulldogs on Harry and watching them chase him around.

"While she's here, you are to be on your best behavior you got it?! She doesn't know about your… abnormalities."

Harry said nothing. He merely nods his head.

"Good, well, I'm off."

"We interrupt your regular schedule to bring you this announcement. A dangerous convict as escaped from Federal Prison. Alias is Sirius Black, real name unknown." The news reported said.

This caused Harry's blood to turn cold.

"Black is responsible for numerous acts of terrorism as well as mass murder. Including the death of over thirty people. Black was arrested back in 1981 after an undercover operative manage to lure Black into one of Great Britain's largest shootouts. Sirius Black is considered armed and extremely dangerous! If spotted, do not approach. Alert authorities immediately! A special hotline has been set up, and a task force has been assembled of special forces to take Black into custody again. The government advises no one should go out after dark and do not travel alone."

A video of Black appeared, showing he was screaming as he was being restrained.

"No need to tell us he's no good," Vernon said.

"Now, back to your regular schedule…"

"Hang out, where did he escape from? How do they expect to catch him if they don't tell us where's he's escaped from?" Vernon said.

"Azkaban," Harry said in a whisper. The Dursleys turn to look at him.

Harry turns tail and goes up the stairs.

'Artemis, Sirius Black has escaped, and he appeared on the Muggle news. I need answers, but you might not hear from me for a week. I'm sending Hedwig to you as you're the only one she'll let handle her with care. I might have some trouble with the muggles, but I should be safe. I still have the ring your father gave me. If I need help, I'll send it to you immediately.'

Harry signs it and walks over to Hedwig, who woke immediately as Harry approach her.

"Take this to Artemis, you're going to stay with her for a couple of weeks," Harry said softly.

Hedwig gave a hoot of disapproval but took the letter and flew out regardless.

Harry should have not sent Dobby to the Wynters.

At that moment, a Daily Prophet newspaper landed on Harry's bed.

Harry opens it, and to his shock, he sees Sirius Black on the front page. His face looks the same as it did on the television.

'Sirius Black Escapes Azkaban!

First Escape in History!

In a shocking move that has stunned the magical world, Sirius Black has managed to escape from Azkaban sometime between sunset and sunrise. The exact time is unknown. All that is being releases was that Black was kept in the Maximum-Security Section with the Dementors guarding his cell day and night. Aurors responded to the cries of the Dementors only to discover that Sirius Black had vanished from his cell.

This is the first escape in history. As no witch or wizard as ever successfully made it out of the prison alive.

Sirius Black is believed to be a High Ranking Death Eater. Some believed he even stood among the Inner Circle of the He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. He is responsible for the death of James and Lily Potter, as well as the attempted murder of their son, Harry James Potter. To make things worse, Black is also responsible for killing twelve muggles and Peter Pettigrew with a single curse. Black was captured and sentenced to life in Azkaban for his crimes, where he remained for these past twelve years.

The muggles have been alerted, and the Ministry of Magic has set out an alert calling in all available Aurors to track down Black and capture him once again.

All witches and wizards are not to go out after dark and report Black immediately should he happen upon him.

Black is recognized as one of the greatest duelists ever, and should not be taken on lightly.

Muggles have been alerted that he is carrying a muggle gun, and should not be approached.'

Harry read no more and realized things were not going well. Now he'll never get his answers.

Harry flipped on the back of his bed and realized he had to act quickly. He grabs his permission slip and walks downstairs.

"Aunt Petunia," Harry said in an even tone.

Petunia turns to look at him.

"What?" She said coldly.

"I need you to sign something," Harry said, handing his permission slip to her.

"What's this?" Petunia stuff.

"You don't have to worry. Just permission for me to visit the Wynter's." Harry lied.

Petunia said nothing as she grabs a pen and signs it.

"The sooner you're gone, the better." She said as she hands the permission slip back to Harry.

"I'll be gone soon," Harry said with a smirk.

Harry quickly bolts up the stairs the moment he heard a car enter the driveway. With Marge here, Harry did not want to be criticized for his existence.

Instead, Harry packing his trunk and was mentally kicking himself for not asking Artemis to come to get him immediately. He sent Hedwig away, and Dobby was also gone. He would avoid his family until the Wynter's came.

It was hard to avoid Marge. While Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon wanted to avoid Harry, Marge wanted to keep Harry under her gaze at all times. She would criticize him every chance she got.

Ripper, her bulldog, once tried to pee on Harry only for him to yelp when Harry started freezing his piss.

Tonight was Marge's last night, and Harry was doing all he could not explode.

"Tell me about the boys' parents." Marge suddenly said as she drinks her wine. Her sudden question caused Harry, Petunia, and Vernon to freeze for different reasons. Petunia and Vernon feared if they told Marge to want she wanted to hear, then Harry would take it out on them. Harry was grinding his teeth as he knew Marge was seeking to insult his parents.

"They… they were unemployed." Vernon said slowly.

"That's right!" Marge boomed as if she had known all along. "A drunk, I bet! His mother, no disrespect, Petunia, but she must have been a whore… you can always tell with dogs." Marge said.

Petunia and Vernon gasp as they look, Harry. His mood had darkened, and his face was furious.

"Upstairs," Vernon shouted. "Marge, how about more brandy," Vernon said, pouring her more wine.

"No, let the boy hear Vernon. Perhaps a good history lesson will make him understand his place." Marge said as she turns to Harry. "You think you are proud of your parents. You should be lucky my brother took you in, you worthless garbage. Your father was a drunk and your mother..."

Harry immediately rose to his feet, and his wand was in his hand in an instant, he blasted Marge off her feet, causing her to yelp in pain.

"Marge!" Vernon shouted.

Harry turns around and gets up.

Vernon made to grab him, but Harry quickly spun and fires a blasting hex at Vernon, too, throwing him through the glass slide door.

Harry goes upstairs and quickly grabs his things and promptly came down the stairs.

He didn't care what Dumbledore said to him, he was never coming back here again.

Just as his hand was on the door, a loud gunshot was heard, and Harry's body jerk forward. Something had entered his body above his left shoulder, and he turns around to see Dudley was hiding behind the couch, and Petunia was holding a handgun. The end was smoking.

"Fix them…" She said with her hands shaking as she holds the gun with both hands.

"You shot me!" Harry said in shock. He didn't expect this.

"Fix them or… I'll shoot you again," Petunia said, trying to sound threatening.

Harry waves his wand just as Petunia fires another shot.

He blasts Petunia off her feet just as the bullet hit his stomach.

Harry tried hard not to buckle to his knees. But it was hard, his stomach was in so much pain right now.

Harry slowly grabs the door and walks out into the night.

There was no plan or destination in mind. The only thing he could think of was to get to the magical world and get help.

However, with two gunshot wounds, Harry was losing blood… a lot of blood. His mind was also starting to go blank, and he barely sees.

He is finally forced to stop, he falls to his knees, trying hard not to pass out.

He looks at his ring, remembering the ring was connected to the Wynters floo network. He felt stupid for not using it earlier.

Slowly grabbing the ring, he activates it.

"Artemis…" Harry said weakly. "Help!" In saying that Harry lost connection as he falls on the ground and loses conciseness.

Just as he was blacking out, he saw a large black dog making its way over to him.

The dog was massive and huge. The size of a wolf. However, it slowly walks up to Harry and looks at him.

Then Harry knew no more.

The dog shifts into a man as he kneels beside Harry.

"Don't worry, Harry," the man said. "I've got you."

He grabs Harry's wand and flicks it towards Harry's trunk. He grabs Harry and his trunk, both appeared almost weightless, and with a loud crack, disappears.
