Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Spartan and the Legionary. Enjoy the 3000-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Halo. Monty Oum, Microsoft, 343, and Rooster Teeth do.

(Beacon, Ozpin's office)

"An attack on Sumire," Ironwood stated to which Ozpin said nothing. "The covenant attacked this kingdom without ANY warning, took out warning systems… How could we possibly counter that?" Ironwood asked Ozpin as Lasky cleared his throat.

"We handled it, general." Lasky put in before looking at Ozpin. "If you excuse me, professor? I have to return to Infinity. Commander Bradley just told me Noble Team is aboard Infinity… At this rate? I'll believe Chief is secretly a god. I'll return in an hour to continue this." Lasky put in before he turned and departed the room at the moment.

"I thought we had everything figured out, Oz," Ironwood said while he turned to Ozpin. "Now this? At least the Grimm, the White Fang? We had countermeasures." Ironwood said and looked at a holographic map of Vale.

"With new allies come, new enemies, James," Ozpin responded and turned to look down at the board with interest.

"We have to know more about this 'covenant.'" Ironwood stated as he pulled out his scroll. "Schnee? I'm deploying you to Sumire, report back what you can discover about these soldiers." Ironwood ordered and shook his head.

"Professor Ozpin?" Ozpin heard from his scroll. "Ms. Nikos is requesting permission to spar with Mr. Cerule…." Ozpin heard as he raised an eyebrow.

"Escort them to the courtyard then, Ms. Goodwitch," Ozpin responded and hummed with interest. "Excuse me, James. We can continue this discussion when I return. I'm sure that you have important business to attend to anyway." Ozpin said before grabbing for The Long Memory.

Ironwood said nothing at the moment, content to simply study the battle like any good general. There was plenty to understand at the moment as he hummed and simply looked at his scroll.

(With Leo and Pyrrha)

Leo boarded a pelican and sat in one of the seats before looking at Pyrrha. He'd need to clean his armor, the captain said that with Noble Team's arrival came a way to retrieve fuel and more ammo than they needed.

Leo simply couldn't believe that Noble Team was alive. Spartans were some of the few that knew 'MIA' rarely applied to their kind. The implications that the spartan team lived rocked him to the core.

And with it brought a thousand new questions which he'd reserve for when they greeted Captain Lasky at Infinity.

"Professor Ozpin said the match is ok as long as it follows standard rules," Pyrrha said, taking a seat next to Leo who said nothing at the moment.

Pyrrha turned to the spartan who was simply content to sit in silence, checking his SAW. He wanted to conserve ammo, but with fresh supplies coming soon? He supposed he could spare the bullets.

"And what are standard rules?" Leo questioned while checking his armor.

He needed to check with the techs before settling down for the night. His armor needed to be inspected before he went on redeployment once more.

"First one's aura to break loses," Pyrrha said to which Leo said nothing at the moment.

"That soul shield?" Leo questioned and got a nod. "You know my armor has shields, right? I'm not sure how this 'aura' thing works. It feels like an over shield…" Leo said and tapped on his arms with annoyance.

He knew very well that nothing was going to happen at the moment. This wouldn't be like the covenant; it wouldn't be like when he trained against the rest of Gamma.

"You know, this isn't going to be the only fight I have at Beacon," Leo said which got a nod from Pyrrha.

"You spoke of Noble Team." Pyrrha put in which caused Leo to hum. "Their special soldiers as well?" Pyrrha asked, being greeted by another hum.

"Remember what I said about how I can't say much?" Leo asked as Pyrrha hummed and looked around. "Unless you want to be sent to a very dark place by ONI… Cowardly jackasses…" Leo muttered and shook his head.

"Noble Team is Spartans?" Pyrrha asked as the pelican started to move. "You don't have to say anything. I can guess." Pyrrha added before leaning forward.

The pelican flew to Beacon in silence. Leo glanced at Pyrrha once or twice, his mind was still on Sumire. All those people were dead, being butchered like cattle by monsters who claimed to have some macabre sense of honor.

He'd find them, hunting them all down and make sure they never touched another human…

"Sir, we've arrived." The pilot added to which Leo hummed as he stood up with Pyrrha.

"Last chance to back out," Leo said as he stepped off the craft. "I'm only going to hold back enough not to be lethal. I also have to report to Captain Lasky and General Ironwood at the moment." Leo said before turning to Pyrrha who stepped off the craft.

"I made a promise," Pyrrha said as Professor Goodwitch approached them. "And I keep my promises. I'm sure you'd keep them as well?" Pyrrha questioned before Leo nodded.

"Ms. Nikos, Mr. Cerule," Glynda stated to which Leo hummed and crossed his arms. "I see you've had your aura unlocked… Interesting, my scroll didn't pick it up. I'm sure Ms. Niko informed you how a match works, even if you don't register as a student?" Glynda questioned to which Leo nodded.

"First one to 0% aura is disqualified, full use of equipment and weapons is authorized. Lethal force isn't." Glynda said while tapping away at her scroll. "And please? Try not to destroy the majority of the courtyard, I'm the one who has to fix it," Glynda said as Leo hummed.

Leo's scroll beeped which made him blink. He realized it was similar to a HUD like his armor.

Leo looked at Pyrrha before reaching over his shoulder to grasp The Answer. He looked at Pyrrha with a hum as she drew Milo and Akouo from her back.

"There's no time limit to this?" Leo questioned and got a shake of the head. "Ok then, ready when you are," Leo said and waited for Pyrrha's move.

The spartan girl edged forward before thrusting Milo at Leo who dodged it. Leo used his free hand to shove her back and reached for the M11 knife in his forearm. Pyrrha transformed Milo into a spear before pivoting and throwing the spear at Leo.

The spartan reached up, his hand a blur as the sound of metal clacking was heard. Leo held up the spear and looked at Pyrrha.

Pyrrha held up her hand which glowed back as Leo felt his weight shift. Milo flew back, Leo clutching the weapon as it returned to its master's hand.

Pyrrha swung Akouo at Leo who swung his feet up, smashing heel first into the weapon.

Pyrrha skidded backward as she clutched Milo which Leo dropped at the moment.

"Not bad... But being hotheaded doesn't mean I'm not quick," Leo said and brushed off his armor.

Pyrrha rushed forward again and thrust Milo at Leo who brought up his knife. Sparks flew from the weapons as Pyrrha stabbed at Leo twice, both strikes parried before she dropped the weapon.

Leo stopped Milo as Pyrrha grabbed the weapon to which struck in his hand. The blade pricked his hand but did no damage to his armor. Pyrrha's hands and feet glowed back.

Pyrrha and Leo stared at each other, evenly matched in power. The duo spun away, eager to engage the other again.

(UNSC Infinity.)

Lasky looked at Dr. Halsey and Glassman, neither scientist said anything for a moment.

"Noble Team," Lasky said before looking at the duo with interest. "Dr. Halsey, would you care to explain why one of the UNSC's most elite spartan teams isn't MIA anymore?" Lasky asked the scientist who was silent a moment.

"He was talking to you, doc." Palmer put in to which the ONI scientist sighed and looked up.

"Requiem is home to thousands of Forerunner artifacts," Halsey said and turned to Palmer. "Along with one on Reach, my best guess has Leo activated one of the artifacts all life around it and in orbit here… As for Noble Team? I am still researching, but I assume the Forerunner artifact on Reach is involved." Halsey said to which Palmer sighed.

"So, our best idea is a guess?" The commander put into which Halsey shook her head.

"No, our best estimate is a hypothesis," Halsey said before turning to Lasky. "I'd like to speak to this 'Professor Ozpin' again. He's keeping plenty of secrets from us at the moment… There's plenty about this world we don't know." Halsey said to which Lasky hummed.

"Let's check on Noble Team before we decide on anything," Lasky said before tapping on the holo table. "Roland, call up Fireteam Mountain. Tell them to escort Dr. Halsey to Beacon." Lasky ordered as the AI appeared.

"On it, cap," Roland stated which caused Lasky to say nothing at the moment.

(With Leo with Pyrrha)

Pyrrha tossed Milo and then Akouo, Leo brought up his Hardlight shield, blocking both weapons which bounced off the shield. Pyrrha used the advantage to rush forward, leaping over the shield to strike at the spartan.

Leo deactivated his shield and turned before bringing up a kick to block Pyrrha's kick which was aimed at his skull. Leo pivoted and then grabbed Pyrrha's leg as Pyrrha tried to kick his ribs.

Leo went to throw Pyrrha away from him only for her to plant her other foot on his shoulder and wrap her arms around Leo's neck.

Leo activated his armor's thrusters, shaking Pyrrha loose as he grabbed his SAW and fired at Pyrrha as the explosive rounds chewed up the ground around her.

Pyrrha was thrown backward as a bullet hit the back of her calf, throwing her back as her aura shimmered.

"How the hell are you a student here if you're this skilled a fighter?" Leo questioned, lowering the smoking SAW which more than half its mag had left within it.

"Training…. Just like you have." Pyrrha said while Leo hummed and shrugged at the idea with amusement.

"Mr. Cerule." Leo heard as the soft clack of a cane upon tile came towards them. "As much as I'm sure you and Ms. Nikos would like to continue sparing? I wish to speak with you both. Would calling the match a draw be satisfactory to either of you at the moment?" Ozpin asked as he turned to look at the duo.

"Draw," Leo said and placed The Answer upon his back once more. "I got what I wanted out of that fight, anyway…" Leo said to which Pyrrha recalled Milo and Akouo to her hands before sheathing the weapon to her back.

Leo could only ponder what was going through the spartan girl's mind as he continued to look around once more.

Still? He could only ponder what was happening at the moment. Still? There was plenty at the time to discuss… And he doubted Pyrrha was going to let him off the hook for this at all.

So be it, Leo was not easy to impress, but he was rather interested enough to want to talk to the spartan girl again.

Though he had a feeling this talk would be after more clashing of fists between the duo.

"That was a rather impressive display of combat," Ozpin stated while looking between the duo. "I'm sure both of you are rather satisfied with the outcome of this battle?" Ozpin questioned to which Leo crossed his arms.

He knew very well that Pyrrha was rather miffed at the situation, however? It wasn't like he was trying to rile her up. However? The spartan was rather curious as to how the fight would have gone if it continued to be dragged out.

"Does General Ironwood need a debriefing of the situation?" Leo questioned as he crossed his arms and looked around. "Because I sent everything to the Infinity at the moment." Leo put in before he hummed and turned to look at the ground.

"We were monitoring the situation the entire time, Mr. Cerule," Ozpin stated while they walked towards his office. "Still? I can understand why you and your leaders spoke of the covenant as equal a threat to the Grimm." Ozpin stated before Leo hummed and turned to look around.

"Unless the Grimm burn cities to ash, professor?" Leo questioned while the group boarded the elevator. "Their worse, you saw what 2 light cruisers did before they were stopped…. And I doubt Jul is done trying to rip Remnant apart." Leo stated before the doors slammed shut.

He could only question how long until the covenant planned another strike upon Remnant. Jul had no shortage of soldiers, ships, and supplies. He had come to Requiem with an empire.

"And you, Ms. Nikos?" Ozpin asked as they entered the elevator. "How would you describe the Covenant and their various soldiers?" Ozpin questioned, casting a gaze at Pyrrha who turned to Leo who leaned on the wall.

"Their organized, massive in scale, and highly militarized." Pyrrha put in, leaning on the wall. "Similar to Atlas, I suppose. They're as dangerous as Leo pointed out, but they're not unstoppable. Not with the right precautions." Pyrrha added, gaining a look from Leo.

"They burned down an entire city in less than a few hours." Leo pointed out, his tone focused and blunt. "And they do it to Vale as well, it's what they do. You can beat a million of their soldiers, their just retreat to orbit and burn everything. It's what they did during the war whenever we pushed them back." Leo stated and sighed.

Pyrrha turned to the hulking Supersoldier who was busy questioning the next move.

"General Ironwood does have questions if that answers your question." Ozpin put in which caused Leo to nod. "I sense that the destruction has a much more personal effect on you. You and Ms. Nikos appear to both be very upset at something." Ozpin stated with his gaze upon Leo and Pyrrha.

Leo said nothing, his thoughts back on the destruction of Sumire. They had been slow if he had known about the attack beforehand? Then he could have been there, he could have done something that would have cut the covenant down before they caused more damage.

He clenched his fists, was there ANYWHERE the covenant wouldn't desecrate? Any place within the galaxy that they wouldn't put their hooks in and slowly drag down?

Pyrrha frowned at the agitated spartan. The more Leo continued to bottle things up? The more it would cause him to slowly wind up like a toy till he snapped. He needed to talk about it.

Pyrrha blinked and then looked at the floor. That was her issue with Jaune, she hadn't talked to him in time.

Pyrrha knew Jaune would take time to admit his feelings if he had any… It hurt when he mentioned he liked Weiss, but SHE had never tried to make a move.

She knew Jaune wouldn't like her romantically, he talked about how much of a sister she a few times was recently… So, she questioned how she felt about Leo.

Pyrrha and Leo were pulled from their thoughts by the doors hissing open, both the spartan girl and Supersoldier blinking. General Ironwood stood up from his seat and faced the trio.

"I told you the Covenant is far stronger than anything the Grimm can do," Leo stated as they entered the room. "And Jul will strike again sooner or later. The only thing stopping him from leaping a fleet here is Infinity, and considering Jul was willing to challenge even THAT?" Leo asked to which Ironwood was silent.

"Vale is secure, Mr. Cerule." Ozpin said as he walked to his seat and slowly took it. "Besides, if the Covenant were to make it here? We have no shortage of defenders for Vale." Ozpin put in to which Ironwood cleared his throat.

"Yet you've been uneasy about Atlesian troops being stationed in Vale for the time being," Ironwood said as he looked up from his scroll. "I've seen the data Captain Lasky has given me, he had over 2 dozen capital ships… And with transcontinental transport capabilities? They can strike before we can react, the sensors didn't pick up those ships till they were ON TOP OF SUMIRE." Ironwood stated while Leo shook his head.

"Cities can be rebuilt, James." Ozpin put in and tapped his cane on the ground. "The fact that we know they aren't unbeatable ensures that we have the greatest weapon of all… Hope." Ozpin added as Leo hummed.

"Hope is dangerous, it makes you cocky," Leo responded, crossing his hulking arms over his chest. "Vale is only protected by the UNSC and the veteran warriors here," Leo added and sighed with annoyance.

"Being pessimist isn't going to aid the matter either, Mr. Cerule," Ozpin stated and turned to Pyrrha. "Both you and Mr. Cerule seem to have many emotions bottled up inside you. Do either of you wish to contribute to this meeting?" Ozpin asked and got a little answer from either.

He sighed, there would bound to be issued sooner or later with the war he was waging against Salem… However? Ozpin didn't want to be a pessimist; he had already explored the idea that Salem couldn't be beaten. It wasn't a path he wanted to continue exploring anytime soon enough.
