Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Spartan and the Legionary. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Halo. Monty Oum, Microsoft, 343, and Rooster Teeth do.

(UNSC Infinity)

Leo stepped off the pelican, walking through the massive, endlessly honeycombing structure of the warship. He was always caught off guard by the hulking power of the warship. It felt like he was living on a planet rather than the massive war cruiser that it was.

"Captain? I'm headed to the bridge now, are you there?" Leo questioned while he marched towards the bridge. "The covenant has been busy, they've stepped up their deployments on the planet, the last battalion we engaged was more than a quarter of their forces as it seemed," Leo stated as he cracked his fingers.

"We know, we've been monitoring covenant communications, their forces are continuing to menace the planet," Laskey stated a minute later. "I need to talk to you about your next mission, we need to make sure everything is good and ready," Laskey added as Leo boarded the elevator.

"Infinity is the biggest ship in the water, sir," Leo responded, clicking the button as the elevator slowly rose. "If they had something bigger? It would have made sense for them to throw it now when there's not much they can do to stop us." Leo added as he wracked his brain for ideas.

The Covenant had a warship the size of the Infinity, yet he hadn't seen the Song of Retribution. He knew Jul didn't wish to risk his flagship against the mightiest warship in the USNC navy, something the endless covenant empire's armada wouldn't have hesitated to try.

"The majority of their forces in Sumire were wiped out," Laskey said as the bridge doors opened and Leo marched out onto the surface. "But still no sign of the Song or any of Jul's heavy hitters. He's gone to the ground since then, I don't know what he's planning since then…. All we do know is there is plenty of work going when it came down to it." Laskey said before Leo walked towards him, curious as to what was happening.

He walked up towards the captain, passing the masses of consoles, bridge staff, soldiers, and such. Leo inclined his head a degree, staring the captain in the face.

"Sir," Leo said as he nodded. "Things in Vale are fine… However? There's been no sign of covenant forces yet. Jul's army retreated after UNSC forces secured the city." Leo reported to which Laskey was silent, curious as to which the captain planned to do next.

"Jul doesn't have the forces to sustain a war," Laskey added as Leo hummed, crossing his arms as he did so. "There's plenty of options he hasn't tried yet. Jul wouldn't be one to tip his hand in a war of attrition." Laskey put in to which Leo hummed, shrugging as he did so.

"All I know is there was a ship that was destroyed, and he lost a few battalions," Leo responded, looking out the window at Remnant. "It never seems like we stop fighting covenant, do we, sir? We've been fighting them more than we've been fighting insurrectionists." Leo added, cracking his neck as he did so.

"There's always going to be someone who doesn't want there to be peace, Spartan," Laskey said as both looked out the window. "I'm still wondering what Jul wants so bad he'd throw away thousands of lives. He's not gaining anything from this war that we know of." Laskey put in to which Leo shrugged.

"Jul's a madman, do we understand someone who's crazy enough to war with the Infinity, sir?" Leo questioned as Laskey gave a nod. "If this doesn't pan out the way he wants? He might just try and glass Remnant, deny anybody a happy ending at the end of the day. Wouldn't past the guy who tried to burn down an entire city for something like this… We don't know his plan. We can't stop what we don't understand yet." Leo added, tilting his head once again.

"I'll agree with that, spartan." Laskey put in to which Leo planted his hands on his hips. "You must be tired, head to your quarters. I'll pull what we can from the city. Getting a new angle on things is part of the war and we don't know what General Ironwood wants yet." Laskey ordered as Leo hummed.

"Sir? Spartans don't need a lot of sleep." Leo put in, looking out the window. "This place? It feels a lot like Earth. It's still weird, I don't understand how it all fits together, though. I don't get what we're doing here. You think we were meant to come here?" Leo questioned as Laskey walked up to the window as well.

It felt weird… The last time he was looking out the window like this? They were on Requiem; Del Rio was shouting at Chief. Laskey was silent then, but he had never agreed with the tactic. Rio hadn't the faintest care about the soldier, about what Chief had sacrificed during the war. Now? He had given up that role to be a politician who constantly denounced the Spartan II's out of some personal bias.

"Spartan?" Laskey asked, turning Leo's gaze towards him. "Have you ever met the Master Chief? I mean. Back when we were first on Requiem." Laskey questioned, earning a quizzical tilt of the head.

"No, sir," Leo responded, setting a hand on the glass. "When it comes down to it? I can't say I have. He was a hell of a soldier, why do you ask? Thinking about that war on Requiem? I was surprised, didn't know much about the battle." Leo added, brushing off his armor.

"Something like that, yeah," Laskey said, shrugging as he did so. "I didn't expect to see him after 4 years. It was surprising, I met him when I was a kid, Circinius IV." Laskey added to which Leo nodded.

"Captain hated him, though he was garbage the UNSC threw out, didn't he?" Leo questioned to which he got a nod. "That man is the best soldier in the UNSC. We would all be dead if he wasn't around. I might have fought in it, but I didn't turn the entire war around." Leo added as Laskey nodded.

"He's a hell of a soldier, isn't he?" Laskey questioned to which Leo hummed. "I have some news to report to command, comms have been trying to contact home. I'm not sure of what the plan is yet. Roland is still crunching the numbers." Laskey added to which Leo nodded.

"I'll be in my room if you need me, sir," Leo said before turning to walk towards his room. "I have to see someone when I wake up," Leo stated with a click of his joints.
