Magical Origins

Year 3: A Lone Truth

In no time, all anyone could talk about was Professor Lupin Defense classes. All the students like his class and enjoyed learning defense from him. Even Draco Malfoy, who would generally look down upon Lupin admitted in the Slytherin Common Room that Lupin's lessons were exciting and far better than any other Defense Class he had. Though he would never publicly acknowledge this.

However, not everyone enjoyed this. The story of how Neville dressed Professor Snape in his grandmother's clothing had spread as quickly as wildfire. The whole school found it funny and hilarious, with so many students wishing to have seen it. Professor Snape's eyes would flash dangerously, and he started bully Neville worse than ever.

Harry also heard from Lily that Professor Trelawney's that she kept predicting that he was going to die. His fate would be determined at the upcoming Quidditch match. For a strange reason, this had a lot of students convince he was going to die. His only two Quidditch matches did end him with his first one having him thrown off his broom. The second one, a rogue bludger, nearly killed him by trying to turn his head into pudding.

Ron Weasley had a large smile on his face and even was rumored he started a betting pool on how long he would last in his Quidditch match.

Harry also lost almost all interest with Care of Magical Creatures.

Although Harry threatens Draco Malfoy to cut the act, or he would lose his Quidditch team position, Hagrid had lost all confidence in himself as a teacher. They spent almost the rest of their classes looking after flobberworms. Incredibly dull creatures that fed on lettuce.

Harry sent word to Samuel that Malfoy had sabotage Care of Magical Creatures, and he wanted lessons to reassume the way they were during the first lesson. He actually had fun learning about Hippogriffs and was interested to learn more about similar creatures.

However, October finally arrived, and that meant the Quidditch season had begun. All four teams were seen training hard. However, the rain was coming down hard. Making the training sessions hard to handle.

However, Saturday arrived, and that meant something countless students were looking forward to.

The Hogsmeade trips had begun.

For the Third Years, this was something countless were excited about. As none of them have gone to Hogsmeade before, countless were excited to shop around. It was also a good thing to get their minds off Sirus Black.

Harry himself was going to go with Artemis. It would be a good thing too, as Percy Weasley kept popping up whenever the two were alone. The one time they nearly went all the way, Percy Weasley burst through the door as if he was pleased he caught them in the act.

Harry searched his bag for his permission slip and realized he didn't have it.

He knew he wouldn't get another permission slip to go at all. The Dursley's would never sign it. He was still in the process of having the Wynter's take legal custody of him.

"I can stay behind if you want Harry," Artemis offered after he told her his problem.

While Harry was bummed that he couldn't go to Hogsmeade, this did present a golden chance to spend quality time with Artemis. Something Percy Weasley was intent on them not having together. Harry let slip that Percy kept breaking into the girl's bathroom whenever Artemis was taking a bath. Even though Percy denied it, it didn't stop everyone from wondering if he fancied Artemis a bit too much. He also got into it with his girlfriend, Penelope Clearwater.

This would be the first real break for Harry and Artemis to spend time together.

Harry knew what people thought of them and why Percy was stopping it. Everyone knew he was jealous because of the fact that Artemis Wynter, the most gorgeous girl in the school, only let Harry Potter kiss her, among other things.

Harry was brought out of his train of thought as Ron storms into Transfiguration. It was clear he was in a foul mood, and everyone knew why.

Hermione Granger's cat, Crookshanks, was chasing Ron's pet rat Scabbers all over Gryffindor tower. Ron even tried kicking Crookshanks despite Granger's cry not to harm her cat. No matter what reasons were given to Ron, Ron believed the cat had it in for Scabbers. Not even caring that cats typically hunt and chase rats all the time.

Harry said nothing as Professor McGonagall began her class.

Harry and Lily once again completed their work in record time.

"Mister Potter, Miss Morris, are you two going to pull ahead again?" Professor McGonagall asks as everyone was halfway through their work.

"I can't help it, Professor," Harry said with a smirk on his face. "I'm just that good."

Granger looks at him in disbelief as she was still struggling with the practical work.

"Indeed, perhaps you need a bigger challenge." Professor McGonagall said in a stern voice.

"That would be a welcome change Professor," Harry said calmly.

"As it happens, I have some assignments for you to complete." Professor McGonagall said as she flicks her wand and a book appears in front of the two of them. "Complete all the assignments in that book and report to me when you are done."

Harry said nothing as he looks through the book eagerly. Lily herself was reading with great interest.

No one said anything more as they continue their work.

The bell rang, and Professor McGonagall held back her Gryffindor's.

"As you are all in my house, the Hogsmeade trips are upon us. Those of you with sign slips will turn them into my next lesson. If you abuse your trips to Hogsmeade, then you will lose the privilege of visiting the village ever again. Is that clear?"

"Yes, Professor." The Gryffindor's said.

"Yeah Weasley, don't do something stupid," Harry called out to Ron.

Ron bellowed as he pulls out his wand and fires a jinx at Harry, who ducks underneath it.

"Mister Weasley!" Professor McGonagall shouted. Harry and the rest of the Slytherin left the classroom withs smirks. Leaving Ron in trouble with his Head of House.

Halloween finally came, and that meant the entire school was heading to Hogsmeade.

Artemis, true to her word, stayed behind with Harry. Instead, Harry told Daphne and Blaise to bring him back sweets and stuff from Hogsmeade.

Harry puts his robes inside his wardrobes when his door opens.

Harry turns to see Artemis standing there. She closes the door and walks towards him.

Harry grabs her around the waist, and the two start kissing each other passionately. Artemis lowers his hands till he was gripping her ass. He squeezes, causing her to let out a moan.

Harry breaks the kiss breathing heavily. Artemis grabs her robes and removes them. Harry bends down and kisses her neck while holding her tightly.

The two fell on Harry's bed as Artemis cries out to the heavens.

Artemis lays her head on Harry's chest after a long session.

"Aren't you glad you have me?" Artemis said with a smile on her face.

"Your mother wasn't kidding, I really needed that," Harry said as he pets Artemis's hair.

"You may have gotten me pregnant, you know," Artemis said as she referred to the mess between her legs.

"Man I'm stupid, I should have pulled out," Harry said.

"I don't mind," Artemis said as she snuggles up with Harry.

"Wouldn't having a child damper your career as a healer?" Harry asks.

"Perhaps, but if it happens, it happens. All anyone will know is that I'm a loyal servant." Artemis said.

Harry kisses her forehead.

"Want to go another round?" Artemis asks.

"Damn, you're a rabbit," Harry said as he sits up.

Artemis said nothing as she lays down.

Harry turns to look at her and admire her gorgeous body. Everything about Artemis' body was perfect. He could finally understand why so many wizards, both older and younger, desire her.

"Hey, Artemis… was that your first time?" Harry asks.

"Was I that bad?" Artemis said as she sits up. She grabs the sheets to cover her breast.

"Well, there is blood on my sheets. I'm not stupid, a girl would only bleed if…"

"I'm not ashamed that you were my first Harry. I know rumors suggest I have shag countless wizards, but the truth is I've never really been with a guy."

Harry didn't need to ask why she was a virgin for so long. Guys only wanted her for her beauty or as a trophy wife.

"I should find you a husband," Harry mutters.

"Good luck with that," Artemis said with a smile.

Harry gets up and puts on his robes.

"Where you going?" Artemis asks.

"Going to take a walk, I could use some fresh air. Also, you should head to Hogsmeade and enjoy yourself. You still can go." Harry said as he puts on his shoes and walks out. Leaving Artemis in his bed.

Harry wondered the corridor and paused, realizing with almost everyone at Hogsmeade, the castle felt unusually empty.

Realizing he could use this time to explore the castle, Harry begins to walk around.

"Harry?" A voice called from the open door.

Harry doubles back and looks inside the classroom to see Professor Lupin sitting down, drinking some pumpkin juice.

"Professor Lupin," Harry said as he walks inside.

"What are you doing?" Lupin asks gently.

"Exploring the castle, everyone is at Hogsmeade," Harry said calmly.

"Ah," Lupin said gently. "Why don't you come in? I've just taken delivery of a grindylow for our next lesson."

"A what?" Harry said honestly as he never heard of such a creature. He would sure Granger would go into lecture know-it-all mode and talk about what she knew about them. He walks in and stops as he stares a strange looking creature in a water tank. It seemed to be growly at him. Harry smirks as he suddenly increased the water volume causing the Grindylow to be choking in the water. Harry stops, and the Grindylow suddenly disappears in the kelp.

"You seem to handle that nicely," Lupin said as he watches the whole affair.

"I'm good with water," Harry said in a matter of fact tone.

"So I see," Lupin said slowly.

"Professor Lupin, can I ask you something?" Harry said as he sits down.

"Of course," Lupin said in a kind voice.

"You knew my parents," Harry said.

Lupin chokes on his pumpkin juice.

"How did you know that?"

"I tend to ask my Vassals a lot of questions. One thing they cannot do is lie to me." Harry said in a firm voice. "I'm also aware that my father had three great friends," Harry said slowly, careful not to let anything slip. "Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin… the Werewolf."

Lupin stares at Harry with a hard expression.

"I clearly underestimated you," Lupin said slowly. "I did not think you would know that. Yes, I knew your parents. Both of them during my time here at Hogwarts and after. I was good friends with your father, and I spent a lot of time with your mother as well. She was a brilliant and gifted witch, Lily. She figured out what I was in her fifth year. However, it seems like you… she seemed to respect me greatly. She told me, 'It must be hard to bear such a burden, knowing at each moon you could turn on the people who you trust. I can't imagine the strength you have to live with yourself, Remus.' She had a gift, a remarkable gift of seeing the best in others when… sadly others didn't see it in themselves." Remus said sadly.

"I wish I had known her," Harry said sadly.

"I hear, despite inheriting James's looks, you have inherited your mother's gifts and talents as well. Professor McGonagall speaks highly of you."

"It's not the same. I blame Voldemort for taking her from me." Harry said slowly.

"Your anger is understandable. However, be cautious, Harry. Do not let that anger consume you. Or you will become the thing that took your family from you. I have seen countless witches and wizards let their anger consume them, and they have become lost." Lupin said.

"Why didn't you ever visit me?"

"I was grieving," Lupin said.

Harry gives him a hard glare. One that caused Lupin to sigh as he sets his cup down.

"Very well, you deserve to know the truth. The truth was when I heard James and Lily died and what Sirius Black had done. I lost everything. I was at a lost. I wanted to see you, but two reasons stopped me. Well, to be honest, there are three."

"What are they?"

"The main reason is that if I saw you, I would have been reminded of the loss of my friends. It would have reopened my wounds I have tried to heal. I also believed for your own safety, you should not be exposed to me. The second was a Minister of Magic decree that was passed shortly after the war ended."

"What decree?" Harry asks.

"No werewolf can approach a magical child or family. If a werewolf does approach said child or family, the werewolf shall be sentenced to Azkaban for life." Lupin said sadly.

"I don't understand, why did they make this into law?" Harry asks.

"Because of Fenrir Greyback."

"Who?" Harry said in shock.

"You haven't heard of him. I'm not surprised. Fenrir Greyback is the most wanted werewolf in the world. He likes to bite children and turn them into werewolves. In the last war, he was a known Dark Lord supporter. He attacks and killed dozens of witches and wizards. Turning some of their children into werewolves. He's also vicious and a savage. After the downfall of the Dark Lord and the Death Eaters, he vanished. Laying low, but the Ministry of Magic is hunting him. Trying to figure out where he is hiding." Lupin said softly.

"If the Ministry passed such a law," Harry began slowly. "how did you get a job here as a Professor to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts?"

"It did cause some problems. There are some conditions I had to meet if I was to teach here. The only people who know what I am, are the Hogwarts Professors, the Board of Governors and the Department Head of Magical Creatures Regulations and Control. I am more than aware if I don't follow their regulation, then I'm off to Azkaban for endangering children."

"What made them agree?" Harry asks. He was curious to know what the conditions were.

"The first is that I must drink the Wolfbane Potion."

"Lily told me about that, she's really curious about that," Harry said.

"Miss Morris? This is interesting." Lupin said in surprise.

"What do you mean?"

"A Slytherin and Gryffindor don't normally get along. In most cases, they can barely stand each other. I'm surprised you speak so highly of Miss Morris. Almost as if you are her friend."

"We are friends, the school just doesn't know it." Harry stately calmly.

"Interesting," Lupin said as he drinks his pumpkin juice.

A knock at the door interrupted them, and they turn to see Professor Snape standing there holding a large goblet.

"Your potion Lupin," Snape said in his usual tone of voice. He sets the Goblet down.

"Thank you, Severus," Lupin said kindly.

"I have more should you require it."

"I'll have some more before the night turns," Lupin said with a smile. He grabs the Goblet and drinks it.

"Is that the Wolfsbane Potion?" Harry asks.

"Indeed," Lupin said.

"Lupin, you know that…" Snape began.

"Harry already knew. He knew before he started Hogwarts. He told me. His Vassals told him about me." Lupin stated calmly.

"I see," Snape said. He slowly turns and walks out.

"I heard that you didn't get along with Professor Snape during your school years," Harry said slowly. This was told to him by Sirius Black.

"While I never had a problem with Severus, your father and Sirius Black had many confrontations with Severus. This created a bit of loathing on Severus on us." Lupin admitted.

"You weren't going to let me face the Boggart, were you," said Harry.

"No, I wasn't," Lupin admitted.

"Why?" Harry asks.

"I thought that was obvious. I assumed if you faced the boggart, the boggart would assume the shape of Lord Voldemort." Harry stares at Lupin, who had just said Voldemort's name out loud. "I didn't think it was a good idea if Lord Voldemort appeared in the middle of the classroom. I imagine people would panic."

"It's true I did think of Voldemort at first. However, I remember those dementors." Harry said.

"I see," Lupin said as he looks at Harry. "I have to say I'm impressed. The thing you fear the most is fear itself. This is very wise." Lupin said softly.

"Lily and I are having trouble when we go near them. Can you teach us?" Harry asks.

"It's not an easy thing to learn, defending yourself against a dementor," Lupin said.

"You made that dementor on the train back off." Harry pointed out.

"That was only one dementor. The more there are, the more difficult it is." Lupin said.

"Teach us, we have no defense against them," Harry said in a firm voice.

Lupin says nothing as he sets his goblet down. He looks at Harry sharply.

"The dementors truly frighten you. Very well, I'll teach you both. But after the holidays. This time of year is rough for me." Lupin said.

Harry thanks Lupin just as he gets up and walks to the Great Hall.

"There you are," Blaise said as he sits down. "We went to the common room, and you weren't there. A funny smell was in our room, though."

"Yeah, sorry about that," Harry mutters.

Blaise smile grew wide.

"Damn, you're a dog. How was she?" Blaise asks.

"Get your mind out of the gutter," Daphne said as she sets down her bag. "You should have really come. It was amazing." Daphne said as she sits down.

"If my permission slip is found, then I'll go next time," Harry said as he enjoys the feast.

Artemis walks in, and Harry could tell she was trying hard not to glow over the fact at what happened. She sits down next to Harry and piles her plate with food.

Harry had a smile on his face the entire time.

When the time came, Slytherin returned to their dorms and was getting ready for bed.

Until the entrance burst open with Professor Snape coming in.

"Everyone, grab only what you need for the night and return to the Great Hall immediately," Snape said.

Knowing full well that Snape didn't want any questions being asked, they did so, walking back to the Great Hall.

Apparently, it wasn't just Slytherin that had returned. Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor all walked in.

"The Professors and I have to conduct a full search of the castle," Dumbledore said as the doors to the Great Hall sealed themselves shut. Loud sounds of the Great Hall doors sealing shut could be heard. "I'm afraid, for your own safety, you will have to stay in here for the night. The Prefects are to stand guard over the entrances to the hall. I'm leaving both the Head Boy and Girl in charge." Percy puffed out his chest as he was filled with pride and tried to look important, more so than he really was. Artemis rolls her eyes at Percy. "If there any disturbance, you should send word immediately. Send word with one of the ghosts." In saying that, Professor Dumbledore waved his wand, and tables disappeared. Another wave and at least a thousand purple sleeping bags appeared. "Sleep well," Dumbledore said as he turns closes the door behind him.

"No talking! I want everyone in their sleeping bags in five minutes!" Percy shouted. No one paid him any attention. The Gryffindor's were all telling the rest of the school what just happened.

Artemis points her wand up, and it lets out a sound like a firecracker. Everyone turns to look at her.

"Everyone find a sleeping bag and stay there. Keep your voices down. Lights are going to go out in one hour. If you have to use the loo, let one of the Prefects know, and they'll escort you. No one is leaving without permission. Now find your sleeping bag," Artemis said in a firm voice for everyone to hear. No one argued with her and quickly did as she instructed.

Harry immediately grabs a sleeping bag and puts his stuff down. Blaise lays down next to him. As did Daphne Greengrass.

"So Sirius Black has entered Hogwarts," Daphne said.

"Why Gryffindor tower?" Tracy Davis asks.

"Who knows," Harry said. He shuts up immediately because Percy was heading his direction.

"No talking Potter," Percy said in a rude tone.

"Shut up, Weasley." Harry hissed.

"How dare you! I'm Head Boy!" Percy barks out.

"Walk away, Percy," Artemis said. Her fingers were twirling her wand. Everyone stops what they were doing to watch this confrontation.

"You're a bully, Weasley. You use your position to get what you want," said Harry.

"I think that…" Percy began.

"Come on, Percy," Penelope Clearwater said as she walks over and drags her boyfriend away.

"This isn't over Potter!" Percy shouted as he was dragged to the Gryffindor side.

Harry locked eyes with Lily and knew at once she wanted to talk to him. She was currently surrounded by her housemates. They would tear him apart and wouldn't respect their wishes to speak in private.

Harry grabs his flask and drinks from it.

"Butterbeer?" Blaise asks.

"Yeah, I got an enchanting flask to fill it up. I knew Harry would like it." Daphne said.

"Here," Harry said, offering some to Blaise.

Blaise drinks some and hands it back. Harry offers some to Daphne, who also drinks some.

Artemis grabs some from Harry and drinks.

"Was I the only one too brings sweets?" Harry mutters as he opens his Honeydukes treats.

Percy, being the prick that he was shut off all the lights.

"Everyone in your sleeping bags and no more talking!" Percy shouted.

This killed the mood as everyone climbs into their sleeping bags. Harry said nothing as he slowly drifts off to sleep dreaming of Artemis' perfect body he got to enjoy earlier today.

Author Notes: A bit dull, I'm sure, but I hope everyone enjoys the chapter. So How many of you like the fact Harry and Artemis finally did the deed. They've been teasing each other for too long, it seems.
