Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Spartan and the Legionary. Enjoy the 5000-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Halo. Monty Oum, Microsoft, 343, and Rooster Teeth do.

It was a cold morning when Leo awoke. He was up, grabbed a BR-85 and an Answer M-379 machine gun, and boarded a pelican before he seemed to be a focus upon this. He boarded a pelican in the hanger which flew towards Beacon where Pyrrha and Jaune waited for him. Leo only questioned Jaune but still allowed them aboard as the craft which was loaded to capacity with marines as well took off.

(10 minutes later)

The DC-79TC Pelican skimmed over the waves through the UNSC forward operating base… A Mammoth waited on the coast. Leo looked over at Pyrrha who sat in the seat next to him… As did a squad of marines and Jaune.

"Interesting design for an aircraft," Winter stated over the radio as Leo shrugged.

"They're called Pelicans," Leo said before he looked at Pyrrha. "I'm glad the professor sent you, but I do want to point out this ain't Grimm hunting. The Covenant are going to have their best security here. You two might be good, but they will shoot to kill." Leo said as Pyrrha hummed.

"If we can't handle this? Then we cannot be Huntresses." Leo stated to which Leo shrugged and looked around.

He didn't take the idea in stride. Pyrrha was one of the best combatants, but she was still just one person and could be overwhelmed sooner or later. All it came down to was how well she'd be able to properly focus upon such issues.

There were only so many problems that could focus upon. He had a lot more to handle at the moment.

If anything, else? He had been prepared for battle. So had she apparently which told him just as much about her as it did about the others. There was a lot more to focus upon.

Still? if she was as committed to the mission as he and the others were? He'd not stand in their way. He was proud of them, he'd not before he questioned what to do next before now.

"We need to get going," Leo stated to which he and she slowly dropped out of the dropship.

Leo questioned before he sighed before he hummed, questioning the next move before now. He seemed to properly question before long. If nothing else? He had a lot more to focus on before long.

He watched as Pyrrha seemed to question what to do next. She was bored, unsure of what to tell her. There was a lot more at stake if neither of them managed to properly focus.

Pyrrha watched Leo before he questioned what to do and looked over at her. She cracked her fingers, looking over the ocean in front of them. She had been allowed to pack a change of clothes as both were expected to have been here a few days.

She didn't know how Leo handled military life unlike how he was properly focusing on it. She had a lot more to ask him as all of this came to be over. A lot more… But that was neither here nor there.

She looked up to see a vehicle that dwarfed almost everything around them. There was an Atlesian APC parked nearby who told him that the joint mission had already gotten started before all of this seemed to be focused upon handling properly.

Still? if everything went according to plan? They'd sooner or later be able to relax, not burdened by the rest of their soldiers breathing down the UNSC's neck. He hadn't the ability to question them before now.

He sighed to himself and looked at Pyrrha who still had her weapons attached to her back while she looked at Leo. He was a bit too unsure of what the next move was to be.

The three walked towards the craft, flanked by 9 marines and another Pelican which seemed to be setting down towards the giant tank.

"That… Is a big truck." Jaune stated to which Leo turned.

"It's a mammoth," Leo said before turning to Pyrrha. "Their mobile command posts. Officer in charge should be in the command room looking over data." Leo said before he watched Winter and a group of Atlesian soldiers departs the APC.

Leo hummed and continued walking toward the craft. There were probably to be more questions than answers in any stand case. It hadn't yet managed to sink into him that there was still a new war being waged here and there.

He had a lot more dwelling on his mind now. a lot more that hadn't yet been answered, nor did he expect it to be answered anytime soon. If anything? There was too much to properly handle and a lot more to handle, not sure what would be coming. He hadn't the foggiest idea what awaited them on the Mammoth.

"Spartan Cerule? I'll be brief." Leo heard as he turned and started to question what to do next. "Dr. Halsey stated that artifact on Requiem was used for some sort of temporal data collection. It would pull things through a miniaturized Slipspace tunnel and transplant them where they could study them… I think the Covenant wanted to use it to resurrect the Didact and it backfired." Laskey stated as Halsey came over the radio.

"What Captain Laskey is explaining is the device can pull anyone from their space back to a time and place of their choosing… Like Jorge and the rest of NOBLE Team for example." Halsey stated before Leo blinked.

The Spartan stopped mid-step as he turned in interest.

"Commander Carter is in charge of this OP, Leo. He'll fill you in on what he found." Lasky stated to which Leo hummed.

"Understood, sir. I'll report to him." Leo said as he frowned under his armor.

"Who's Commander Carter?" Pyrrha asked to which Leo hummed.

"He'll tell you; I can't say anything without ONI…" Leo said, his voice more or less slipping a little.

"Lots of secrets in the UNSC," Pyrrha responded to which Leo nodded. "There's a lot they don't tell soldiers like you, yes?" Pyrrha questioned to which Leo nodded.

"ONI hates the little guy at the end of the day. There was a lot they don't tell little people for now." Leo said before he looked at her. "NOBLE was good people. Good soldiers… Died fighting to save a lot of people and helped end the war. If they're alive? Then… Well, things are a LOT more complicated than they look." Leo put in as he crossed his arms.

"The Spartans were all family with one another, aren't they?" Pyrrha said as Leo nodded.

"All the family we have left," Leo said as they slowly boarded the Mammoth. "Go make yourselves at home. Command deck should be higher up, not used to serving on one of these," Leo stated before he slowly climbed upwards.

Leo seemed to question what to say as Pyrrha looked at him, looking over the Spartan as he sighed, preparing for the worst if need be and he had something on his mind.

"The Covenant must want something in Vale if they keep coming here," Pyrrha stated as Leo shrugged.

"They're a bunch of religious murderers who burn down human planets over and over again. I wouldn't put it past them to have some weapon in Vale…" Leo said before he sighed. "There's a lot more things we don't know about the Covenant. Their boss is a lot more dangerous than their old bosses. He doesn't have their hokey great journey crap to tie them down." Leo stated before he sighed and rubbed his temples.

"Then it seems you have reason to keep fighting them here," Pyrrha said as Leo shrugged.

"I ain't going anywhere anytime soon, Pyrrha," Leo said as he started to check his weapons. "Plus? I have a feeling Captain Laskey is going to keep troops on Remnant when we clear things up with the brass. Me staying here has nothing to do with the brass, but it has a lot more to do with who they want to be left in charge." Leo said while he heard the sound of heavy footsteps above.

"So, I guess they are letting in kids." He heard as he looked up to see Emile.

"Holy sh…" Leo stated before being cut off. "Damn, I thought you were dust and ashes on Reach," Leo stated as Emile shrugged.

"So did we, but I guess I ain't that easy to kill," Emile said before he beckoned them up. "Come on up, we need to tell you something and Kat and Halsey are busy… Guess that leaves me and the big man here in charge while everyone else is busy…" Emile stated as she noticed more Spartans to which there was a lot more of an odd smile.

She hadn't yet focused upon now when it said before now. She hadn't yet questioned what to handle before now. There was nothing else stopping them from being forced back.

"Another Spartan?" Pyrrha questioned to which Leo seemed to nod.

"NOBLE Team, yes," Leo said as the two walked up the steps. "Commander? You're good? Me and Ms. Nikos came as you requested." Leo stated before he hummed now.

He questioned what Pyrrha would do in this case. There were a lot more questions as of now. She seemed too curious for now before now on what to happen for the second. There was a lot more to focus on now. They had a lot more training to focus on sooner or later. Their only real move was to focus on what their next move was and would have been. If anything? All he did was get her more and more.

Well, there was a lot more on the line that became a problem as of now. She seemed too unsure for now.

Pyrrha looked over to see where Carter was and blinked at the man. He certainly seemed like another Spartan yet was still wearing what she assumed may have been older armor judging by its state. Leo seemed to have treated them as if they were in charge which she'd take to have been an idea that she was to mean he was commander of this mission.

"Captain Lasky told me about you, Pyrrha Nikos, right?" The man in armor questioned which was given a nod as well. "Heard you and Spartan Leo here wiped out an entire covenant division… Spartan Leo? Heard some things about you and all this." The man in armor stated to which Pyrrha hummed.

Carter looked at Leo as Winter appeared flanked by a group of Atlesian soldiers.

"I see everyone is assembled," Winter said before she looked at Leo. "General Ironwood is very happy to see you are alright. He's very impressed with how capable Spartans are on the battlefield…" Winter stated to which Pyrrha hummed, unsure of what to do next.

There was a moment of silence as he cleared his throat, preparing for a second as he tilted his head, he questioned what he'd have done if nothing else.

"Thank you… And I heard you and Commander Carter found something? The covenant doesn't quit when they should and it ticks me the hell off." Leo stated as he sighed, prepared for the worst they threw at him.

"Indeed… They seem to have established a base 5 kilometers north. Heavy air support and infantry." Leo stated to which Pyrrha nodded.

"Then I assume they want something big which is causing them to all circle the area and attempt to retrieve it?" Pyrrha questioned to which Winter nodded.

"Indeed, a vessel larger than the ones who attacked the last city is present and seems to be supplying both the military forces…. And retrieving whatever the object is." Pyrrha and Leo heard.

"Then the Covenant are mining something," Leo said as he frowned. "Great. How much security have they set up? The Covenant getting a hold on Remnant is the last thing anyone wants. We need to sweep in before they find anything." Leo stated to which he frowned.

"There's a quartet of Anti-Aircraft guns situated around the area. If nothing else? They have that, plus their air support and armor." Winter stated before frowning. "And factor in that warship can turn the entire area into a crater? There's no approach by air yet." Winter stated as Leo hummed.

"Then I'm going to guess that's why they set up a mammoth to punch through?" Leo said before Winter went to speak. "This is a mammoth. A giant battering ram on wheels… I'm going to guess after a point we go in on foot, clear out remaining assets, then attack them from there?" Leo stated to which Pyrrha hummed.

"The Covenant aren't the main issue. It's dealing with the artifact before they retrieve it… And their warship." Pyrrha said as both Leo and Carter looked at her.

"She's right, we can gun down every elite, jackal, and grunt in the area. That ship can glass this entire area into dust if it needs to… We need to take that ship out, permanently." Leo stated before he sighed.

He was too interested as of the second before he questioned what to handle. What was going to be handled next? They had a nightmare to fix before long. He hadn't yet focused on the mission… There was a lot more to do before today was over.

"Then we can use the Atlesian Cruisers and the warship the UNSC supplied for this mission to take it down," Winter stated before he frowned as of now. "There's still the problem of air support. They have too many aircraft for a head-on strike and the rest of them will be ready for anything that crosses through their screen." Winter added to which Carter hummed.

"We can handle the ground. You should focus on air. That assault carrier has more than enough reinforcements and guns to burn down a planet… Plus? We're Spartans, we get sent in anytime there are no other options." Carter stated to which Leo looked at the map.

At least 2 of the guns crossed their path on the mammoth with the other 2 being in the center of the quarry. There was a lot more to question before now.

"Then we take out the last two on foot, smash what we can… make them think we're taking the quarry, from there? We can bring in air support, and shut that ship down while it's busy focusing on the ground assault. If we have any real luck? We can cut them down, secure the relic, and get them to retreat… We should look for intel, though… Find whatever it is they want here." Leo stated to which Pyrrha nodded.

They both knew something was coming and there was too much on the line to stop it. There was a lot more to handle. They had a monster to fight, one which wouldn't be over yet. She hadn't the advantage of this, hadn't the ability to properly focus upon their issues. If nothing else? She hadn't yet seemed to be over.

She looked at Leo who crossed his arms over his chest, the Spartan looking at the Spartan-IV. He cleared his throat and nodded.

"I and Pyrrha can handle one of the AA guns, I assume Winter and Jaune along with a few soldiers… NOBLE Team would be the best at engaging their forces." Leo stated before he laid his hands on the table.

"NOBLE would cut through Covenant like tissue paper and we can secure whatever it is they here for." Leo put in before he looked over the others. "Plus? I don't have the tech skills to cut down." Leo added as he cracked his fingers, he had a lot more to properly focus upon.

He slowly marched forward, preparing for the mission. He had another fight to focus on the sooner they focused upon it? He hadn't the ability to do something before now.

There was a lot more on the line if they had this mission yet before he questioned before he seemed to be capable while he was over with. There was nothing here that had yet to be bothered.

He rubbed at his temples, looking around before he tilted his head, there was too much to focus upon. He hadn't a lot more on his plate. He was over this, he hadn't the possible evidence before now.

"Yes, the more we pull their attention off the site? The more data a team can pull from their computers." Winter stated to which she hummed, looking at Leo.

She had something else she now before now. There was a lot more on the line if nothing else.

"Let's get going. When we get closer? We can set in teams… Carter told me the Mammoth will be capable of destroying the AA guns." Winter stated as she hummed, looking around.

Carter nodded and the others set off, getting to their stations. Leo set off for the upper deck, unsure of what to say. Pyrrha followed behind him as he looked up at a UNSC Marathon Class Heavy Cruiser. Air support they needed. There was a lot more to cut down and a lot more to properly advance on.

"There's a covenant army on the march and their trying to conquer the planet," Leo said while he looked up at the ship. "Jul didn't have the pull for this crap a few years ago, he was just one of the rebels fighting against the guys in charge… Now he's a terrorist with an army of crazy covenant jackasses." Leo stated to which Pyrrha slowly walked up to him.

He was unsure of the problem on which he could focus over now. He knew what the problem was at this moment before he seemed to be over now.

He had a lot more to question before now. He hadn't the idea yet. Pyrrha looked at the Spartan-IV as the mammoth started to move forward. He wasn't at all interested in this before now. He hadn't entirely come to terms with their mission and he knew the mission was probably going to be a LOT tougher than he was given for now.

"I'm guessing that there are certain things they didn't tell you?" Pyrrha questioned to which Leo nodded.

"NOBLE Team was something I thought died out during the war. Their very good soldiers and Spartans, ones who could turn the Covenant into Swiss cheese." Leo said before he looked at Pyrrha. "Like you. Very good fighters if somewhat sarcastic, and rough around the edges. They get the job done by the time we take down the last AA gun." Leo added to which she hummed.

He had a lot more for now. There was a lot more on his mind, something that hadn't yet been addressed.

"And I assume you know them considering the reaction?" Pyrrha questioned which got him to nod.

"Ask Lieutenant Ambrose after this is over with." Pyrrha heard from Leo. "If they came back? Well, I think I have a feeling that we're going to be getting a lot weirder." Leo said before he turned.

"I'd get ready, you have anything you want to say? I'd say it now… This mission is going to be a LOT more focused on combat." Leo said while he sighed, leaning against the hull of the mammoth.

Pyrrha looked at the Spartan who turned, his features hidden by the armor he wore. It made her realize he was preparing for combat mentally as well. She looked at her weapons and then back at him.

"Were you close to them like you are with me?" Pyrrha questioned as Leo nodded.

"They were… IIIs, if you got told? Then you know what I was." Leo stated as he crossed his arms. "I have a feeling this has to do with us more than them though, doesn't it? I'm not slipping into super-soldier mode if that's what you're thinking. I'm just trying to process seeing dead soldiers walk like they hadn't been shot up back home." Leo stated before he rolled his eyes.

"Then I'm guessing it would be alright to talk to them?" Pyrrha questioned as Leo shrugged.

"Talk to Carter first. He's the team leader." Leo said before Pyrrha started to leave. "Hey?" Leo asked as she turned.

"I didn't hate hanging out yesterday, you know. I don't JUST enjoy fighting and being a soldier." Pyrrha heard as Leo slowly turned. "It was nice. I'm just trying to get my head together seeing good people come back from the dead. If want to talk when this is all over? Come get me, I'll talk. Just give me some time to get everything sorted out and think about the mission." Pyrrha stated before he sighed, preparing for the worst.

He hadn't the idea before now. Pyrrha smiled a second and then started to leave. Pyrrha watched as he looked off into the tropical distance. There was a lot more to do for the time… if anything? They had a lot more ahead before now.

"Hey, one other thing?" Leo said before she turned back to him. "I asked Captain Lasky and he gave me shore leave for at least 2 weeks or so off. It might not be a lot? But I'd like to go to that beach or someone on the shore if that's cool with you… if it's entirely cool with you." Leo said while shrugging as he looked around, prepared for the worst.

"I would like that. I know a beach that's somewhere relaxing we can talk at. That is if you're not shy enough to wear armor there?" Pyrrha teased as Leo chuckled.

"That a challenge, Ms. Nikos?" Leo questioned as Pyrrha shrugged as he looked over at him.

"Only if you accept it," Pyrrha said to which Leo chuckled.

"I'll take you up on it when this is over. Go talk to Carter, he and the others are a lot chattier than I am usually." Leo stated before he rolled his eyes. "I'd also tell them more about yourself and Remnant before all of this is said and done," Leo said while he shrugged.

Pyrrha nodded and left. She knew more than to overstay her welcome and it wasn't like Leo was just ignoring her and she had her job to do. It wasn't polite just to take it and mess with it if anything. She would be rude then if anything on that front and the last thing she wanted was to offend anyone here on this mission.

She sighed and slowly walked down the metallic hull of the craft. If she had been honest? Today had been a weird little spin in the seat for her, there was a lot to mentally unpack and she knew it. She had been in the hot seat before and she also knew more than he that there was probably going to be better times for now.

If anything? She had a lot more to focus on before now time. She hadn't yet seemed to be focused more as of the time when this was over. She rubbed at her temples, looking around the massive vehicle. There was something else to handle for now.

She was greeted by at least two other Spartans, one of whom was a woman within cyan blue armor and had a metallic right arm and a pistol. The other was a hulking soldier of a spartan which seemed to be taller than both of them, totting a machine gun turret as if it were a small bag. He strode up to her as Pyrrha slowly took a few steps back. There was a moment of indecision as of now. it hadn't yet seemed to find the same niche; it hadn't yet found what needed to be found.

"I heard from the commander you're pretty good for nonmilitary." He stated to which Pyrrha nodded. "Good, we're going to need the best out there. I'm Jorge, NOBLE Five. That's Kat, resident tech expert, and NOBLE Two, I'd steer any tech questions to her." Jorge stated as Pyrrha hummed.

"Pyrrha Nikos, nice to meet you," Pyrrha responded with a bow.

"I heard from the captain you tore through Covenant like butter. They're terrified of you… Heh, thought I was the one who gave them nightmares." Emile stated as Jorge turned to him. "Hey, it's cool, big man. I don't know this place… Didn't know we hadn't yet focused upon what to do next." Emile stated to which she looked around now.

There was a lot more to question before this was all over with. Pyrrha watched the others as she seemed to look around, focusing on what to say and the others before this was all over. There was a lot more to do anyway.

"Don't mind Emile, he's like that with everyone around here," Jorge stated before he rolled his eyes. "Secondly? Dr. Halsey said we've been dead for at least 5 years. You expect things to be the same as they were back then?" Jorge stated to which Emile hummed, looking around as he did so.

There was a frown as he tilted his head. The idea hadn't yet seemed to sink in as the Spartans all shared looks.

"6 almost and with a new generation of Spartans already." Pyrrha heard from the teal armored Spartan. "That one with you was a Spartan-IV, correct? Seems they're rolling them off the factory lines at this point." Pyrrha heard before a pair of footsteps appeared.

"III turned IV, ma'am. I thought Captain Laskey would have given Noble Gen 2 armor at this point. Gen 1 has been getting a bit of dust since the war ended." Leo stated as he appeared, a jetpack attached to their armor. "Second? It isn't like the IVs are all badasses, most are war vets getting upgraded to MJOLNIR from what I heard, everyone important is made into one." Leo stated before he sighed, rubbing at his head as he questioned.

"Spartans are still Spartans, Lieutenant," Carter said as he looked up. "Captain Lasky said I'm mission command, for now, are there any problems? I'm not used to running ground ops without Holland here." Carter said as Leo shrugged.

"NOBLE is in charge no matter what, sir," Leo said before looking at Pyrrha. "I wouldn't judge her based on looks though. The civilians here go through Covenant well… Haven't seen what they do to the Prometheans." Leo stated before he sighed to himself.

"Promethean?" Carter said as Leo started to type in commands on the table which pulled up the table.

Carter was greeted by the image of a knight which he looked at as Leo started to speak and pull up. He started to gesture to the holographic soldier as well.

"Forerunner, big, durable, intelligent. Their working for Jul Mdama, sir and they've been giving the UNSC trouble. I don't know how many of them got pulled through to Remnant." Leo stated before looking over it. "And they can teleport so there's that. You're going to be ok." Leo added as he looked over the hologram.

He sighed, rubbing his temples before he placed his helmet on the table as he did so. Leo looked up at the others.

"Heh, you're a young one." Leo heard from Jorge as he chuckled.

"One of the last IIIs," Leo said before he turned to look at Jorge. "Heard you blew the hell out of a supercarrier… Hell of a light show on Reach. I'm going to guess they told you what happened after Solace was scrap?" Leo said as Jorge held up his hand.

"I know it didn't mean a damn thing… Just wish it bought enough time." Jorge said as Leo hummed.

"It meant a damn thing at the time… All the crap NOBLE went through mattered, don't do that," Leo stated before Carter held up his hand.

"We can talk about Reach when this is all over," Carter said before he pointed at the board. "If these things are down there? We should split up, 3 on each." Carter said before looking at NOBLE. "Jorge? You go with Leo and Ms. Nikos, take that first gun down. I, Ms. Schnee, and Kat will handle the base and secure any intel for Infinity. Emile, Six, Jun? Cut down any damn Covenant in the way, make them think we're coming in hard. Open up an LZ for Majestic and cut them apart." Carter stated as he looked over at Leo.

"Sir, wouldn't NOBLE be better at full strength?" Leo questioned before he hummed to himself, raising an eyebrow.

"We're going to need to do as much damage to them for now. If they think we're all hitting them at the same time? they could leave, take all the data we need, and do anything else we could use against them." Carter said before he looked around. "Besides. We aren't up to speed; I'd rather think about the rest of the Covenant for now." Carter stated before he sighed to himself.

He shrugged and decided to slowly move forward. There was oh so much on the mind before now.

"This is going to be the most insane day before now, ain't it?" Leo stated before he seemed to cross his arms before he sighed before he seemed to understand before now.

He tilted his head, looking up as there was an explosion outside to which the Spartans all shared looks at one another. There was a second of silence… Then all Spartans started to move as if a switch had been flipped.

"Alright, everyone gets ready, we're going to handle this Spartan style." Leo heard as he chuckled to himself while he looked at himself and grabbed his helmet.

Author Notes
