Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Spartan and the Legionary. Enjoy the 2500-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Halo. Monty Oum, Microsoft, 343, and Rooster Teeth do.
Leo stabbed a storm elite in the eye before he kicked the monster to the ground before he turned to see Pyrrha snap the spine of another with Akouo.
"That's the last of this lance…" Leo said before he put his finger to his helmet radio. "Infinity, Spartan Cerule. The covenant resistance is much heavier than reports showed. Enemy forces are pushing hard, requesting sit rep on enemy defenses at the dig site?" Leo questioned before he tapped on his radio.
"Confirm, Sierra. 2 enemy cruisers and at least 3 platoons worth of infantry and armor. Air support will deal with hostiles, focus on the dig site." He heard as he hummed, looking at Pyrrha.
"What about team two? Other enemy AA gun still confirmed active as of the time?" Leo questioned himself before he tilted his head, looking up at the ceiling.
Leo didn't know what else was coming, this op had been weird. There was a lot more to have done for the time being and this couldn't have ended anyway else.
"It's being handled, allied units moving to engage covenant frontline. There's a covenant outpost in the mammoth's way, command would like it neutralized before it becomes a problem, spartan." Leo heard as he nodded. "Atlesian forces engaging covenant defenders there. Specialist Winter requested UNSC support on handling it, terminating them, and advancing to dig site." Leo heard and closed the link.
"Great, more things to shoot at and me without any ammo to use on them, there is going to be hell to pay today, ain't there?" Leo questioned before he sighed, looking up at his weapon.
"There's a covenant base in the path?" Pyrrha questioned to which Leo nodded, looking at her with such interest that he became amused.
"Yes, there's always one…. Give me a second." Leo said before putting the link back on. "Infinity? Capture or destroy? Could be intel inside to confirm final orders? How to copy?" Leo questioned before he sighed, rubbing at his temples before he finally allowed some semblance of exhaustion to wash over him.
He was so tired, too unsure of what to have done next. It could have been so much fun, but it was exhausting to him, to everyone else… All this did was wear him down before this came down to it. There was more upon which he could have done this.
Leo rubbed at his temples, looking up at the roof in front of him. He didn't know what to have handled for now. he didn't know what else could have been done, just that he fell quiet for a few seconds.
"Capture intel, we have broadswords on standby if we need them, clear out defenders." Leo heard before the comms took a breath. "Dr. Halsey wants any relics for capture and I agree to a standard," Leo said as he cut the call.
He didn't know what else was going to have happened as he looked at Pyrrha who looked at Jorge.
"You both coming with me or want to handle the landing zone?" Leo questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"If there's a chance to get rid of the Covenant? I'm coming." Jorge stated while Pyrrha looked at the Spartan-IV.
"I've got your back, even if nothing else," Pyrrha said to which Leo shrugged, looking up at the sky.
"Then we've got to get going, there's a lot more Covenant troops to punch through, and the longer we wait? More resistance." Leo said as he felt a flashback surge through him.
(Last night, 1:00 PM.)
Leo felt exhaustion pass him by as if it were a whisper in the middle of the night. It did little to stop him as he turned to look at Pyrrha who was still staring at him as he questioned what else was to happen, too unsure of what to focus upon. There was a moment of silence. There was silence upon his mind, more to have been coming down to it.
Leo watched her continue to splash around, uncaring or obvious to the wars, to the ideals running through the heads of others. Then others.
It was far too peaceful compared to what was normally going on and what he dealt with usually. This place was odd at the end of the day and it made him laugh inside knowing that.
Then again? Maybe he was just turned a bit differently when all of this was said and done. He was a Spartan, after all, things like this ran like ice water in his veins all day long.
He hummed to himself as he sighed once more, rubbing his temples. The fact of the matter is that this could have been.
Leo looked up into the sky, he wasn't going to be able to question it, nor would it matter much. They had to be willing to punch above their weight class and hit far harder. That was a lot easier said than done when nobody among the crew had the assets or firepower to allow such a thing to have been done. It was sheer madness at work to see it all the way they had envisioned it and nothing short of a miracle would end up doing something.
No. They were at an impasse and it hurt to be where they were. An impasse with no clear-cut answer and nothing really in the way when it comes down to it. They had to be far better than this, to begin with when it comes down to it. He was sick and tired of now. He hadn't waged a war yet, but he knew what it was like to be a soldier in war… And he'd be cursed if he let Remnant burn down to ash for such a thing… Yes, cursed to the pits of hell for now.
Still? The Spartan IV was silent. He was unsure, undecided, unbowed by such a small thing and its pleasures. There was a lot more to have been able to have focused upon for now.
Pyrrha stretched her legs and looked around for now. There was a lot more to have been able to focus more on little things. This wasn't going to end the way she wanted it, but it'd still end the way he wanted to have been able to focus more upon it for now. They had more upon them for now.
"Are you ok?" Pyrrha questioned to which Leo shrugged, a bit thrown off by the question for now. He hadn't been able to focus as of now.
"Not as much as I should be. There's a lot more bouncing around the brain. I don't know what else would have been coming down to it." Leo said before he leaned back on the stone and looked at the girl, raising an eyebrow as he did so. "This isn't going to last. This peace we have? It isn't going to last. We both know that this will be something else an odd plan. It will be a matter of time before the Covenant mess something up or they launch some giant attack that levels half of Vale. There will be no real place to hide, we both know for now what will come and we both know such things will be better saved for then." Leo said to which he looked around, too unsure and uncertain of problems for the future.
Pyrrha crossed her legs under her as she let the ends of her feet rest in the water. Leo put in a hum as he raised an eyebrow at her. The mannerisms she had sometimes confused him, but they didn't bother him to an insane degree, merely pushed him to think more and more. It was worth a laugh for the time being if he wasn't so tired and so exhausted, so thrown off by the constant changing of such small things.
"The Covenant never lose, do they?" Pyrrha asked to which Leo hummed, looking around.
"No, they don't care to lose. Anything that you called losing." Leo asked while he raised an eyebrow, looking around as he did so. "They burn and glass what they can't conquer. Now that all that great journey crap is over? They probably don't even have their usual stick to protect us. Covenant doesn't lose unlike you and me, they smash it all to scrap and glass then heal while it burns to ashes around them." Leo said before he hummed, unsure of if that gave the answer that she wanted.
It was odd, sure, but he knew of worse. The Covenant wouldn't care about Remnant, not unless something was here, they wanted for now. Something they needed. He doubted that existed here which meant the war would be a lot worse for now.
This nightmare hadn't yet fallen to pieces as he wanted and that scared the hell out of him.
Leo hummed, tapping on his legs as he questioned what to focus on before now. This wasn't something else, but it was an odd little thing as of now. He rubbed at his temples, unsure of what to do next.
He sighed as Pyrrha kicked some water at him. He hummed before he questioned what to do next. He was a lot more amused, he laughed more to question as of now. He was a lot more unsure of what was to come, a lot more prepared for such a nightmare.
He rubbed at his temples. He was too prepared for what else was coming. This was something funny, it made him laugh more and more for the time being as of this time when it was a nightmare, one which could be handled with bullets, handled with fire, with explosions. Violence was short, they had to be much better than this or something would have given ground. He was going to have to focus for now.
This was a nightmare more to be handled. He was a lot more on the mind. He didn't know what else was going to be able to focus on it. He was a lot more capable of a lot more focus before he sighed to himself.
She leaned back on the rock before looking at Leo who had been a lot more amused, smirking as he tilted his head to question before now. He was too unsure of what to do before now. It was before now, as of the time.
He rubbed at his nose before he clicked his fingers and she poked him, making the Spartan laugh before he chuckled before he hummed.
"Ah, you're a weird little woman, you know that," Leo said before he brushed water off him. "This ocean thing is weird. I don't think I've dealt with this sort of thing when it comes down to it." Leo stated before it came down to it.
He didn't know what to question before it was over for now. This planet was both incredible and yet dangerous. He was clear was to focus more to do next.
She kicked at him as he laughed, too amused to respond for now. He was to be able to relax, amused before he tilted his head. He was a lot more smirking as he tilted his head, there was too much to do before now.
He clicked his fingers again. He was a lot more amused for now
(Present)
Leo looked down from the hill as did the marines. There was indeed a Covenant base in front of him. There were several sentries which told him that it was still staffed. He zoomed in on his visor, checking on every little detail he could find, such a thing made him question what else could be done, and how else this could have been handled.
Still? such a thing was hard to come by. It made him sigh as he realized more and more that Covenant troops were slowly gaining a foothold on Remnant.
"I spotted at least 5 elites, maybe a dozen jackals… Probably a pack of grunts, standard Covenant group." Leo said as he pulled his BR from his back.
"Perhaps, but we need to keep moving, the base security isn't going to crack itself. We just keep finding a way past them." Jorge started to which Leo shrugged.
"They ain't the hard part. It's cutting into their computers. I ain't a computer hacker and I ain't ever gone to computer school when it comes down to it." Leo stated to which Jorge hummed.
Ah, a proper problem. One which their computer skills hadn't yet compared to. They had a target, but it seemed like this. If anything? They had more on their plate. More to handle, more to do, something else. Yet? He supposed that this could have been such a question before he seemed to be able.
He wasn't going to be able to focus more than it was for now. Such a terrible thing.
Yet? He had to, he wanted to have focused more and more on something and unlike what else she had done next. Such a small thing had made her a far harder person to understand. Then again? He probably didn't understand what else could have been done. Whatever he did do next? Well? This nightmare wasn't going to have been able to focus before it came down to it for now.
He was a lot more to question before now. He hummed before now, too much, far too much, whatever he did next was going to send waves
"Perhaps we could let Atlas handle it?" Pyrrha stated before he shook her head. "We could lock down the base?" Pyrrha said as Jorge and Leo exchanged looks.
"She's got a point. We need techs anyway to pull what we can from their tech without blowing it the hell up. Only so many ways we could do that." Leo stated before he questioned what to have done next.
"Going to have to ask Captain Lasky for that," Jorge stated before he shook his head. "We're going to be ok." Jorge before he clicked his jaw against the roof of his mouth.
"Then I and Pyrrha will clear out their sentries… You might be needed with Noble." Leo stated before he shook his head.
"Are you sure?" Leo stated to which he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "We need to get going…. I'll deal with them inside, I suppose Pyrrha can deal with the rest of the sentries," Leo stated as he shook his head, leaning his weapon across the shoulder.
He nodded towards Pyrrha as he looked around down and slid down the hill. He was too amused as she followed his mind. Such things hadn't yet been over for now. He didn't know what else was coming. He didn't understand what else was going on, they hadn't the proper knowledge.
