Magical Origins
Author Notes: As for some who are wondering, Lily did pass her test. If you look back on many of the chapters, they weren't told how to pass their' Ascendence.' Each Ascendence is different for Harry – he needed to recall the promise he made when he acquired his Elemental Powers. Lily had to accept the true nature of fire instead of seeing it as mere destruction.
Year 5: Visions in the Dark
Voldemort sits in his little makeshift throne room. Thinking carefully about the news that came out of Hogwarts. The young mudblood witch Liliana Morris powers frighten the entire school into near submission. The ability to command fire itself at such a young age was unheard of, even for him, the greatest student and sorcerer alive!
Thankfully he would have been utterly clueless if it wasn't for the fact that his newest Death Eater, Maxim Horvath, informed him the young witch is a Fire Elementalist.
As much as Voldemort wanted to detest the notion that the Spirits of Fire blessed a mudblood, he had no choice but to accept the fact the mudblood could pose a threat to his plans. Already he had some of his Death Eaters working on a cover story to destroy the mudbloods.
Voldemort's impatience began to cloud his judgment. Snape did warn him to be patient, and all would be his, and not even Dumbledore would even be able to stop him.
The threat remains, it wasn't Potter, who manages to elude him, now this mudblood was a threat to him. Voldemort already looked into the potent of the young girls' powers and knew she would be more powerful than anyone he's ever faced. She could – if Voldemort became careless – kill him.
Voldemort had to find a counter to destroy Potter and the Mudblood once and for all.
"All is not lost," whispers a voice in his head. Voldemort looks around for the source, unsure who spoke to him.
"Who is there?" Voldemort hissed in demand.
A shadow moves through the room before appearing before the Dark Lord. Voldemort looks into the eyes of menacing yellow eyes, more sinister and menacing than his own.
"Serve me," says the darkness. "and I shall grant you power!"
Harry returns to Grimmauld Place was done in secret to ensure Umbridge couldn't find some excuse to track and tag Harry. Moody himself ensure Harry safe return, much to Umbridge dismay when she couldn't keep Harry remaining at Hogwarts.
It was the first time Harry ever had to leave Hogwarts for the holidays as he stayed every winter break prior. Lily also came to Grimmauld Place while her father believed she was staying at Hogwarts for the holidays. The Weasley family return to the Burrow much to the delight of Harry and Lily, who had no desire to put up with Ron during the holidays.
After a couple of days allowing his strength to recover, Harry sits with his Vassals in talking about the Death Eaters, and plans for the future.
"Fudge still refuges to take any action, or acknowledge that war is coming," says Sirius.
"Not to mention he's seen regularly with Lucius Malfoy," says Isabelle Morgan.
"That means when Voldemort does move into the open, it may be too late to stop him," says Samuel Wynter.
"We're going to have to stay underground," says Harry. "I know you all got your jobs and careers, but honestly, I think it would be wiser to close up and find places to lay low."
Everyone looks at him as Harry shrinks away.
"I thought it might be better that way," Harry mutters softly.
"No," says Olivia. "We were thinking about the same thing. A lot of us are thinking about calling it quits and hide full time. We all have more than enough gold to buy supplies to last us a decade. This house is very well fortified. So we could do what we can to prepare for war."
"As good as this house is," says Harry. "I don't trust Snape. I'm sure Voldemort may know of this house."
"How can you be sure?" Remus asks kindly as if they were back in class.
"Voldemort has his ways," Harry says quickly. "don't forget the only wizard out there ever to rival Voldemort is Dumbledore. Even if Voldemort himself doesn't know the exact location of this house, I bet you anything he knows the area I'm hiding in, and he'll just wait till we leave to get to me."
"Then, where do you suggest?" asks Isabelle.
"Contact Fleur Delacour and her family," Harry says. "explain to them the situation we believe is forming and ask for a safe house in France. In the meantime, we need to locate a new hideout."
"You thinking outside of London?" Lily says, looking at Harry.
"I'm thinking like a Hobbit," Harry says simply.
Everyone looks at Harry in confusion. Lily looks at Harry and finally understood what Harry meant.
"What do you mean 'like a hobbit'?" Artemis asks Harry in confusion.
"It's from a muggle fantasy book," says Lily. "Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. Small creatures, around the height of Professor Flitwick. They live in burrows turned into homes. In other words, instead of seeking a place elsewhere, we should build an underground home. One big enough to support us and hide us."
"Underground," says Samuel.
"We'll need a place for food," says Olivia.
"We could stay near a river or a lake," says Artemis. "Forest general is a good place to grow food all year long, and if we place certain defenses, we would be well hidden."
"Speaking of forests," Harry says, turning to Lupin. "I spoke to the Lycan's."
Everyone turns to look at Harry, both in amazement and in horror.
"Were you bitten?" Olivia asks at once, fearing the worse.
"He's an Animagus Olive," Sirius says. "even bitten, he wouldn't have been infected."
Sirius spoke with experience, remembering the little brawl he had with Moony the Werewolf when he was in his animagus form.
"Well, I was able to talk to them," says Harry. "Moony, I need you to go to them and talk to them."
Remus's face falls upon hearing these words. Even if he was a werewolf, he was out of his weight class when it came to dealing with the Lycan's.
"Harry," Remus says softly. "they'll tear me apart."
"They won't," says Harry. "I made a pack with them. We could potentially acquire new allies."
"What do you mean?" asks Samuel.
"The Lycan's want the Acromantula's exterminated," says Lily.
"Acromantula's!" Olivia shouts in alarm. The others look alarmed at the news. "They are Acromantula's near the school!"
"Thousands of them," Harry says calmly. "the oaf Hagrid bred them in the Forbidden Forest. Now their numbers are so large; they've been destroying the ecosystem in the Forbidden Forest."
"Surely Hagrid isn't that stupid," Samuel says sharply.
"Afraid he is," says Lily. "I like Hagrid; he's got a good heart. When you bring up the dangers of the Acromantula's, he becomes deaf on any protests we have. He says we simply 'misunderstood' the Acromantula's."
"I'm going to have to bring this up at the next board meeting," Samuel mutters as he runs his hand through his hair.
"Hagrid believes he has them tamed," says Harry. "I fear it won't take long before the Acromantula's attention turn to the school simply because of the lack of food that remains in the Forbidden Forest."
"Thousands you say," Samuel says. "How do they survive in the winter? They are generally tropical spiders."
"I've been to their den once before," says Lily. "It's deep and hollow with lots of webbing around. I know they don't like me."
Everyone chuckles as they were sure what happened when they tried to eat Lily. She unleashed fire upon them. Unless they were creatures of fire, then even creatures of intelligence would fear fire.
"I do know a place," says Sirius. "I came across when I venture north. It should make a perfect hideout."
"Make sure you make it in secret," says Harry. "no one can know outside of this circle of friends."
"What of school?" asks Ruby Pearce.
"I think Hogwarts will no longer be safe," Samuel says sharply. "Voldemort isn't moving directly against the school. I think we all can agree he's using his puppet Lucius to manipulate Fudge in controlling the school in the Dark Lord's name. We're going to have to withdraw our children and teach them ourselves."
"I think Samuel is right," says Remus. "Voldemort is moving Fudge against the Dumbledore. Even if Voldemort is brought to the public's attention, by the time it becomes time to act, it will be already too late."
"We'll start making preparations," says Olivia.
The winter holidays finally arrived, and this caused everyone to get some much needed time off finally. They quickly began over buying items in mass products before everyone closed up for the war that was coming.
Harry and Lily once again were sleeping in the same bed seeking comfort after their ordeal in their Ascendence. Even after their Ascendence, they felt more drain than ever before. Remain lock-in Grimmauld Place, was perhaps the best thing at the moment. It kept them isolated from the Wizarding Community, allowing them to rest undisturbed.
Harry sleeps that night with Lily and Artemis in his bed, both girls holding onto Harry sleeping peacefully. Harry couldn't deny he enjoys sleeping with both Artemis and Lily and found he could sleep more peacefully than Hogwarts these days.
Harry suddenly found himself on the ground. The titles were cold and dark. There wasn't any light nearby by not that it matters. He knew exactly where he needed to go. He kept the shadows, moving beneath the shelves, swiftly and silently.
Harry suddenly flicks his tongue in the air, tasting the air around him to sense what was around. Harry felt more alert than usual. Someone was near and could see him.
Harry keeps to the shadow as the figure walks past him. Harry waits patiently before he moves forward towards his destination. Harry is so close to his goal, with all his enemies would be destroyed before him.
Something hits him in his back as Harry turns to see a wizard wearing shabby robes with his wand out as a second spell is cast at Harry. Harry didn't hesitate as he moves quickly attacks sinking his fangs into the calf of the wizard, feeling his venom entering the wizard's body. The wizard falls to the ground crying out as he does so.
Harry removes his fangs from the calf and moves forward, looking at the wizard who holds his leg. Harry had to be sure to silent him before help arrives.
Harry strikes again, striking first into the wizard's arm, causing him to cry out again. Then he strikes a third time, this time, his fangs entering the wizard's throat. Harry holds on this time, holding the wizard by this throat as he ejects more venom into the wizard, making sure he would die before Harry would get discovered.
Harry could feel sudden vibrations on the ground, telling him that someone was coming. Harry releases his grip from the wizards and flicks his tongue. The blood of the wizard made it difficult to detect how many people were coming, but it clear he could no longer stay here.
Harry turned and came face to face with the snake looking back at him down the reflection of the tiles.
The snake's image changes as the face soon turn into Voldemort.
At that brief moment, Harry and Voldemort stare at one another.
Harry sits upwards with Artemis and Lily, looking at him. Harry took a moment to realize he was drench in sweat.
"Harry, are you okay?" Lily asks at once.
Artemis places her hand over his head to check his forehead.
"There's been an attack," Harry says quickly. "A wizard has been attacked somewhere by Voldemort!"
Artemis and Lily look at Harry.
"Bring him downstairs," Artemis orders at once. "I'll get my parents."
Artemis throws her nightrobe on and quickly disapparates from the room.
Lily throws Harry a robe and helps him up as she takes him downstairs.
Harry couldn't stop the image of the snake sinking his fangs into the wizard, who tried to stop Voldemort.
Harry sits on the catch as the lights within Grimmauld Place come alive as the adults all came down at once.
"What's happen?" Samuel asks at once.
Everyone was tired but alert.
"Harry had a nightmare of some kind," Artemis says at once.
Everyone turns to look at Harry.
"It was more – like a vision," Harry says slowly as he launches into the dream. The adults listen carefully and without interrupting Harry.
"It was like Dumbledore knew something like this would happen," says Olivia.
"Clearly, using Harry's blood to revive himself has forged some sort of bond between the two," says Isabelle.
"I'll alert Dumbledore," says Samuel. "Arthur Weasley is on guard tonight along with Kingsley and Thompson. They should be on the scene by now."
Samuel disappears for some time, leaving Harry sitting on the couch, shaken by what he had witnessed. His body began to feel cold as a cold chill erupt, wondering if somehow, he was responsible for the attack on Arthur Weasley. Harry didn't like Arthur Weasley, but he's never wished ill upon the man.
Olivia and Artemis retrieve a calming draught and give it to Harry to calm him down after what he witnessed.
Samuel cames looking somewhat grim.
"Dumbledore has acted quickly," says Samuel. "Arthur Weasley is being taken to Saint Mungo's while Aurors and Unspeakables are being called in to look for the intruder. Fudge is being informed at once. Moody is coming here along with the Weasley family for safety reasons."
Harry didn't want to spend any time with the Weasley's, but he didn't have the strength to argue at this point. Harry couldn't get the image of what transpired moments ago and quietly drinks his potion in hopes it would help.
Alastar Moody arrives with the Weasley family as he stood by the door on the lookout and alert.
The Weasley's wanted to know why they were forced to get up so late, and why they had to travel to Grimmauld Place.
Samuel and Sirius were kind enough to explain the situation and why they were brought to Grimmauld Place. The children wanted to head to Saint Mungo's at once to see their father. Everyone quickly forbids it, knowing it would draw unwanted attention within the Ministry if his children who were supposed to be asleep in their bed, suddenly knew their father's condition when they hadn't informed his wife yet.
It took a lot of convincing to get the Weasley's to sit down and be patient and wait for information.
No one slept that night, as the anxiety of Arthur's fate became too much to handle. Tired and frustrated, everyone sits down, drinking butterbeer slowly from their mugs.
Harry twirls his mug and remembers the very last thing he saw before he had woke up from his dream. He and Voldemort were looking at one another.
Harry found he couldn't focus or concentrate on anything, much less the time.
For the first time in his life, Harry suddenly felt scared of the bond he shares with Voldemort.
Author Notes: Someone asked me who are my top ten strongest characters in this story are, and I don't have an answer. So I'm going to think about it as I go back on chapters.
On a side note, I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during the pandemic of the Cornovirius Outbreak as my city is under quarantine and has a curfew effect. I cannot step outside for any reason as the city is going mad due to the outbreak. I still wish for all those who are affected by this outbreak a swift and speedy recovery! Thanks for reading this chapter!
