Oh boy. The last time I posted was January 8th. It is now October 12. My story is now three years old. I am sorry for not posting for a while but since everything is kinda... well... crazy... I have been working on a lot of real life stuff with my free time. If my story was a human, it would be a toddler. Holy crap.

Also, I tried to get a DP Funko Pop but they sold out by the time I got to the store. All the ebay scalpers bought them up. People who buy them to own them are fine. Ebay scalpers though? Scum of the earth.

Chapter 29: Contract

Heather was exhausted. She had been exhausted many times in her life, but those times didn't compare to this time. The only thing keeping her from passing out was the natural energy of the Ghost Zone. It took all her willpower to stay conscious. She was barely able to make it to her lair before passing out on the grass right inside.

"Heather? Are you OK?" Ray asked.

"She's obviously not," Alex said. "We need to bring the staff back to Typhon, and we need to find someone to teach us how to even use the gauntlet, and without Heather to fly us around... Man, I think Karma really is getting his payback."

"I told you. Now, give me a hand with this," Ray said while picking up Heather's legs. Alex picked her up by the shoulders and carried her to her bed.

"Ray, I don't think this is all of the payback Karma's getting. He helped us big time. This entire quest was easy up until today. We can't wait for Heather to wake up in who knows how long."

Ray looked at him, concerned. "What are you saying?"

Alex took the Reality Gauntlet and put it on himself. "I'm saying I'm going out to get what we need." He stuck the staff in his backpack.

"You can't go out there! We can't fly, there's dangerous ghosts, and you don't even have a map!"

"I have the gauntlet, remember? I bet I can make a flying carpet or something to take me there. I saw how Heather used it on that blanket. It can't be too far. Can you send me your maps?"

Ray shook his head. "You're not going out. It's safer just to wait for Heather."

Alex sighed. "Please, just send me the maps. I have the most powerful ghostly artifact in existence. I'll still need you to stay here to watch Heather, but I can handle this."

Finally, Ray obliged. He sent the maps over to Alex. "Are you sure you know how to use that thing?"

Alex shrugged. "Heather used it just fine. It must be thought activated or something. Watch this."

He pointed the gauntlet at a rug on the floor and willed it to come to life, picturing Aladdin's flying carpet. Like magic, the gauntlet glowed red and the rug came to life and flew to his feet.

"Good luck, Alex," Ray said in a worried tone.

"Thanks, Ray. I'll be back soon, don't worry."

"Frostbite! Answer your phone!" Danny yelled into his cell phone. When he set up the Wi-Fi system in the GZ, he gave Frostbite a cell phone of his own. Unfortunately, he was only well-versed in his own people's technology and had trouble with the phone. Luckily, he answered.

"Danny Phantom! It's good to talk to you! What do you need?"

"Have any of your scouts seen Heather?"

"Not her, no, but one of her friends flying on a magic carpet. My last report says he's going towards the Hall of Typhon."

The Hall of Typhon. Danny went there to steal an artifact that could destroy Typhon's monsters. It was a long time ago, but he was still on Typhon's bad side.

After a long flight on the magic carpet, Alex finally got back to the Hall of Typhon. The snake-tailed monster queen Echidna was at the door.

"Have you brought the Soma Zeto?" Echidna asked.

"Yes. We don't need it anymore." Alex answered.

"You have used the Gauntlet, I see. Be careful of it's power." She opened the door.

Alex walked into the beautiful hall. Typhon, King of Monsters, was on his throne. When he saw Alex, he stood up and walked down to him. He still stood three times the size of Alex, even with stretching his snake-tail-legs out around him to lower himself.

"You have returned with the Soma Zeto and the Reality Gauntlet. For that, you have earned my trust. Yet you have not yet learned to use the gauntlet. If you wish, I shall teach you."

"You're not going to take the gauntlet?" Alex asked.

"No. It is not my creation. I will not take it. I still wish to teach you, for both your sake and mine." Typhon's voice was very stern, as if it was more of a demand than a suggestion.

"Ok, go ahead. Teach me."

"Before you receive any lessons, you must remember this: the Reality Gauntlet is the most powerful item in the universe. It was created by the Ancient Divines for reasons lost in time. It leads you on the path to power, but you must not use it for anything other than repairing the universe. Don't let its power cloud your judgement, and never use it for personal gain. Do you understand?"

"I do."

"Then, let me tell you how to activate its full power..."

It didn't take long for Alex to learn the gauntlet's power. The gem of life made and destroyed life, using the infinite energy of the Rift. The gem of form could turn anything into anything. It used the energy of the Rift to circumvent many laws of physics. The gem of fantasy used the Rift energy to render any remaining laws of physics null. It had similar powers to the gem of form, but worked in a different way, realizing thoughts and dreams, creating something out of nothing, and throwing away the fact that matter cannot be created or destroyed. It dealt with the mind and spirit. And of course, the gem of power, which gave them the link to the rift they needed to work cooperatively.

It wasn't too big of a deal that there was only one gauntlet left. The legend said that if you have both, you could see the fabric of the universe, the Rift energy, the glitches in reality. With one, you could only use the power, not see the energy.

Typhon was not evil. He was stern, demanding, and stubborn, but in no ways truly evil. The note attached to his location on the map was wrong. He was kind at heart, fair and honest. He taught Alex all he knew about the gauntlet.

There was a roaring sound coming from outside. The roaring of monsters, no doubt.

Typhon and Alex left the hall to see a gathering of monsters outside of the door, floating behind Echidna. Not far off was Danny, facing the monsters with a defensive pose.

"Alex! Come here and give me the gauntlet! We can talk about all this!" Danny yelled.

"I can't do that. I'm sorry." Using the gauntlet's power, Alex flew off towards Heather's lair. Danny followed close behind.

It didn't matter though, cause hands of purple energy burst into existence out of nowhere and grabbed them both.

A purple portal appeared, and Karma, grown to twice his normal size, popped through.

Alex could've escaped. He had the power of the Rift in his hand. But Karma was his friend, and he knew not to fight. Danny, however, struggled. Intangibility, ghost rays, pure strength, all for nothing. The energy hands were too strong.

"Danny Phantom, once again! Unless you want to reconsider my offer of protection, we don't need you here. You have another disaster to take care of, back in the human world." A green portal appeared, and Danny got thrown through it.

"Now, Alex, you're coming with me." Karma pulled them through another purple portal into a large room. There were gears everywhere. The ticking of clocks echoed from everywhere. Heather and Ray were there too.

Karma grew even more, to the size of a three-story house. He glowed with energy. Massive purple energy hands loomed over them.

"Now, it is time for my payment."

The hands, now more like claws, tore apart the seams of his sewn-together cloak. Inside, there was a massive eye sitting vertically on his chest. It slowly opened. It looked at the kids, one by one. And it blinked. And it started to glow with bright purple energy.

And a ray of light shined from it like a ghost ray.

It blinded the trio. Lasting ten seconds, it blasted with energy. By the time they got their vision back, Karma's cloak was all back to normal.

"Your protection contract has now been completed. Thank you."

And with one more blink of light, they were back at Heather's lair.

I hope you liked it! One day I will make a deviantart and post some art of the story there. Meanwhile you can see some old stuff on the Danny Phantom amino, my name there is Ghost Artist. Don't worry, I will never abandon this story! I'm too far into it to stop now.
