Hope and Pray

Everyday I hope and pray

That someday you'll see me in a different way.

Rogue is subtle in her attentions. Appearing everywhere he does, staying near.

Maybe today will be the day.

He gets that longing look in his eyes, her stomach turns over on itself.

It is Jean he is looking at.

Not her.

No matter, she will bide her time, he will notice her eventually.

Maybe tomorrow.

But every day
It's the same old way,
No matter how much I hope and pray.

She plays the game, for months. For years. Waiting for him to come around.

All he ever sees is Jean.

All she ever wants him to see is her.

Five years.

She's sick of waiting.

I've had enough,
It ends today,
No more will I hope and pray.

Rogue looks out at the water, and makes her decision.

Once I'm gone,

Gone away,
Then you'll see me in a different way.

The water barely registers as it encases her whole form.

And she breathes in.

And no more,
No more will I have to
Hope and pray.
