Happy New Year everyone!
I was planning to write another story first, but I decided to let our Devil Hunter show off his skills for a better start of a new year!
LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!
The next weekend. Ozpin's office
"Hm...Is it just me, or team RWBY's performance in combat somewhat improved through the week?" Ozpin asks in curiosity as he watches some of the footages Glynda provided in her lessons. "Did you teach them something, Glynda?"
"Nothing special, just usual things." The Telekinesis Huntress replies. "About their improvement... I might have a small idea. 'The duo' visited them."
"That... doesn't explain much." While he knows who his secretary speaks about, the Headmaster doesn't see any right reasons for them to 'help' the team, considering that any major problems have been dealt with. Yes, there are still problems with the bad White Fang, but... "Did they leave them any warnings?"
"No. They just left the girls... a game, apparently." Glynda answers. "I was just happened to pass by to notice them reacting to something in the game."
Then, the elevator behind them opens to reveal another professor entering the office with a Scroll in his hand. "Hello Professors. Here's the reports of the recent operations around Vale."
"Ah, Professor Oum. Just in time." Ozpin calls out the person's name. And YES, Oum is reincarnated in this Remnant. "You can start anytime."
"Thank you." The former creator of RWBY walks towards Ozpin's table and places the Scroll on it, and images start flashing up. "About..."
"Before that, sir Oum." He turns to Glynda. "Did you happen to talk with RWBY recently? Did they say anything about a game?"
"...Ah, yes we did. And yes, I know that game. Why?"
"We're just curious, because the duo suddenly appeared without noticing us, so we thought something big is going to happen." The Headmaster explains. "And it might explain why team RWBY's fighting skill improved."
Hearing that makes Oum chuckle. "I know. The game gives you hype and 'cool' fighting scenes."
"And I believe they're trying the fighting themselves?" Glynda's question earns her a confirm chuckle from Oum.
"...At least it's nothing serious then." Ozpin then looks up to the sky outside of his window once, before returning back to the table: "Please continue the report, Professor Oum."
Vale City
"We don't need that much food, Nora." Ren sighs as the duo exits a grocery store. "This is just one night..."
"More food, more fun!" The energetic girl exclaims as she holds a tower of foodboxes in her arms. "And we can invite more people with us!"
"Do you really think..."
"This girl surely never runs out of sugar, huh?" The two turn back to the road to see Coco and Velvet, the former carrying a bag of clothes in her right hand. "Little bunny here could use some for her life."
"That's not funny Coco." The Faunus girl sighs.
"That's Nora for you." Ren comments... then remembers: "Miss Coco... your weapon is a suitcase, right?"
"Gianduja's a handbag." The leader of CFWY corrects. "Though, it's heavy enough so calling it a suitcase is not wrong."
"Hey, how about you join us tonight?" Nora then offers an invitation to the girls.
"A 'friend' of ours has sent us a game and asked us to play then give our thoughts to him." Ren explains, trying to not revealing too many things.
"Is that friend of yours a game developer?" Coco asks curiously.
"Well..." Ren glares at Nora once so she wouldn't say anything out of place. "He likes the game, and he likes sharing some of his hobbies to us! A cool guy!"
"Hm..." Coco is a little suspicious at how Nora's slightly change of tone, but she doesn't detect any lies... so far. "Alright, we're free tonight anyway..."
"YAY!" Nora happily swings her hands up... and immediately tries to catch the food boxes before they fall to the ground. "Oops."
"So, what time do you start?" Velvet asks.
"Probably around dinner." Ren replies. "If necessary, we can call you."
"Don't worry about it." Coco slightly moves glasses up. "We will be on time. Though, we expect a good show."
"You will see!" Nora shouts again.
Time skip. Beacon Academy
"I'm not really into games, you know?" Yatsuhashi scratches his head as he walks with his team. "And why inviting us?"
"Relax, big guy." Fox shrugs and pats his friend's back. "It's our last year in Beacon. Enjoying some of our fun times in the academy with two of the strongest teams would be a good deal."
"Mister Lie mentioned Coco's weapon as well, so maybe something is related to her, and he decided to invite?" Velvet says, then remembers: "Miss Valkyrie asked us first, though."
"Who knows? Nevertheless, it would be fun with those teams." The group then stops at the front of team RWBY's room, as Coco knocks on the door...
"Ah, team CFVY. Please come in." Opening the door, Weiss greets the team and gestures them to go inside...
Once the team is inside, Coco and her teammates immediately see something is wrong:
First, the room doesn't look like a normal dorm room. Instead, EVERYWHERE they see is white, with the exception of the middle of the room.
Second, it looks like a game room, with multiple fluffy chairs and cushions positioned before a big TV and around a table with food and drinks.
Third, the rest of RWBY and JNPR are already comfortably sitting in their place, with PROFESSOR OUM and someone chatting with them.
The professor then notices them and gestures them to the empty seats in the room. "Welcome team CFVY. Come in, we're about to start."
"Ah..." The group is speechless for a second before Velvet quickly replies: "Good evening Professor!"
"Wow... even you get robbed into this?" Coco finally gets her voice back.
"A certain someone..." The professor takes a small glance towards the mysterious person next to him, before turning back to the team. "Caught my interest."
During the conversation, Weiss and team CFVY have gone to their seats and be comfortable. Fox then looks at the screen to see the menu of the game, and sees two white-haired men looking back with one of them has their right arm... "This is the game?"
"Alright!" Ruby shouts up. "Time to start the game!"
Before team CFVY could say anything, Pyrrha quickly says: "We will explain during the game. Don't worry."
The mission starts with the location being somewhere underground. On a small bridge, someone slowly walks with a thin sword in his hands.
"That's Agnus." Pyrrha introduces. "Think of him as a version Doctor Merlot."
"So he's basically a bad guy." Coco immediately concludes, which earns nods from the others.
"Lend me your ears..."
"Definitely bad." Fox reaches the same statement.
"And fangs..." In the end of the bridge, there is a circle platform with an ominous red eye in the middle. Agnes's pace slows down when he's closer to the eye. "Destroy this world..." He starts pointing the tip of the sword down and raising it up. "So that the true utopia CAN. BE. BORN!"
The sword's thrusted through the eye, and the whole ground below the bridge lightens up in white for a second, before disappearing while showing the seeming lower black ground now having red formations of sort...
"JUDGMENT DAY HAS ARRIVED!" Agnes shouts with victory in his voice, the words echoing through the place.
"He just unsealed something, right?" Yatsuhashi asks, not liking the scenario.
"He just opened the Hell Gate, the real one." The mysterious person replies, causing the Bunny Faunus to stiff up in surprise.
"Hell Gate?" She asks fearfully.
"Correct." Blake answers. "Before this mission, we found a few more, but they're man-made. The group of that person is from, The Order of The Sword, needed Yamato to open the real one. Yamato is the sword we just saw, capable of 'separate our world from the demons', based on Dante's words."
"Demons, you mean Grimm." Coco leans on her chair, thinking what the 'demons' could be.
"The world in this game has no Grimm, nor Aura." Oum explains. "They have demons, and... well, you will see."
"No Grimm and no Aura." Fox repeats. "That... sounds good and bad at the same time."
"Kind of."
...
The camera shows up the surface...
"That's the Gate I assume."
"Correct, mister Yatsuhashi."
The people in hoods look up to see the Gate shaking... and its front side starts bulging before bursting out, releasing some sorts of black smoke everywhere. People start running away in fear, but it's already too late as the Geist-like demons have found them and they start dissecting everyone on their sights. Following them are the reptile demons, which mowns down the people with their claws and teeth.
Velvet covers her eyes in fear, as the rest watch in discomfort at the slaughter. Blake then grunts: "That Order is worse than even White Fang."
"No kidding." Yang agrees. "White Fang cares, just a bit, to their people. Here, I see none."
"We saw a Grimm's invasion aftermath during one of our missions before." Coco says while taking a drink for herself. She tries to act cool, but deep down she's disturbed. "I guess what happened was nearly the same as this."
One group hides in one of the dark corner, shaking in fear. However, their attempt fails, as a group of Geist-like demons notice them, and they start slowly floating to the human group with their nails ready to strike...
Then, something kills them. The humans, not feeling demons coming at them, look up to see a white armor floating with a lance in its right arm.
"That looks like an Atlesian Knight alright." Coco comments. "Kinda old-fashioned. Would fulfill a kid's dream, though."
"And their shields are annoying." Ruby grunts.
"What shield?" After putting her hands away, Velvet observes the armor. "I see only its lance..."
"Those armors' wings are detachable and can be used as shields." Jaune explains.
"...Wait a second. You fought these things in previous missions?" Fox asks, which earns nods from the others. "So..."
"Yes, those armors are actually of Order's." Oum finishes his sentence. "This is part of their leader's plan."
"Great. Now that ruins the story." Coco then takes a sip then adds: "What are those things made of? And how do they fly?"
"Demonic power. Extracted from these demons which attack people." The mystery...
"Hold on, what's your name?" Coco interrupts.
"T.O. The Observer."
"...Really? A codename?"
"That's actually his real name, Coco." Weiss explains.
"That's... weird?"
The armors are fighting against the demons, 'protecting' the people. Then, from afar...
"That's... huge..." Even Yatsuhashi's intimidated by the size of the Savior. "The Amity Colosseum is one thing, this is enormous in a different way..."
"The worse thing is that it can move normally." Yang adds. "Their leader used its punch to attack."
The camera then zooms in to the head of the statue, showing Sanctus standing on top, covering in Golden Aura. "Do not fear!" He starts giving 'the speech'. "Our Savior has come for us, to deliver us salvation! We must repent and rejoice... for the world has not yet come to an end!"
To show how powerful the statue is, its head halo starts shining up and gathering energy, and quickly fires down towards the surface, killing the demons only and leaving anything else intact.
"Wow..." Velvet and Nora are marveled at how effective the attack is.
"Yeah, if we have that, the Grimm would be no problems." Jaune scratches his head then adds. "Though, the price would be very high."
"Obviously." Oum agrees.
'The speech' ends with Sanctus laughing evilly...
"Okay, that just ruined everything." Coco groans.
The camera changes to Dante, as he claps his hands after watching the scenery and listening to Sanctus' speech from afar. "That's a solid performance for an old fart like you." And then he gets back inside the building...
"Not gonna lie, he does have a sense of style." Coco pulls her glasses down. "What is his name?"
"Dante, a Devil Hunter." T.O replies. He then turns to Ruby and says: "Prepare to break your hands, Ruby."
That comment makes Ruby sweat a bit. "Come on, T.O. It's not that bad, right?"
A hint appears about changing player (From Nero to Dante) and what is carried from one to another.
"Okay, at least we don't have to grind again." Weiss says, feeling a little relieved.
Mission 12: A New Beginning
Come to grips with the power of the legendary Devil Hunter.
"Legendary, huh?" Fox says to himself.
"There are already three games before this." Blake says. "They like this one, though, and they want us to play this first."
"Then we would go to the next one after this." Ren adds.
"Why?" Yatsuhashi asks.
"Because the fifth version has a summary of what happened in the previous version." Oum replies.
"Alright, let's see what we can buy." Ruby says as she opens the Power Up menu. "We can completely ignore the items now, and..."
When the Skill Up menu opens, she sees the Proud Souls being refunded, but the Red Orbs are still the same as the last mission. Red Queen is changed into Swords, Blue Rose is changed into Guns, Devil Bringer is changed into Styles, and Yamato is changed into Devil Trigger. The others look the same... so far.
When she opens Swords...
"Wait a second, Swords?" Weiss is a bit taken back. "And Guns?"
"...Oh THIS is going to be fun." Yang rubs her hands excitedly.
"...Now I can see why you want to invite team CFVY now." Oum chuckles as he looks at T.O, who shrugs. "Fun times for Velvet, huh?"
"Eh?" The bunny Faunus is a little confused.
Nevertheless, in Swords, there is only Rebellion so far, and it has three skills...
"Oh it's called Stinger. No wonder those hits sting." Yang says... and a second later everyone groans.
Checking Guns, there are Ebony & Ivory and Coyote-A, each has three levels of Charge Shot.
In Style...
"Trickster, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Royalguard." Weiss speaks the names of the styles out loud, then looks at T.O who smirks behind his scarf. "He's just one-man army, isn't he?"
Each style has three more levels to upgrade, and the demonstrations...
"That's... wow." Fox is speechless.
"Okay... I start regretting a bit saying it's not too hard now." Ruby giggles nervously.
Devil Trigger unfortunately has only Trigger Heart, but maybe because Dante has already too many things above, more would make him too powerful. Abilities being the same with only four skills available.
"So... what's the recommendation?" Oum asks T.O, earning confusions from team CFVY.
"Rebellion and all styles first. Air Hike, Enemy Step and Devil Trigger. Guns would be the last place to be concerned."
"Really? Dante's Charge Shots are weak?" Weiss is a little doubtful.
"You were expecting each of his shots explodes with that short amount of charging time?"
"...Fair point."
After buying up everything, Ruby starts the mission.
"You can change styles in the combat?" Ruby asks in surprise as everyone reads the hint.
"That's the new thing in this version. The previous one only has one style equipped at a time." T.O explains.
"Okay..." Ruby prepares herself...
With the default style being Trickster and being used to using Snatch, Ruby accidentally teleports right above a Scarecrow head, causing her to nearly fiddle on the controller before firing guns at it. But the demon takes that small panic to attack with two slashes. Turning to Swordmaster, she then hits the Scarecrow three times, flinging it away with the last hit. And the muscle memory kicks in again, as she tries to 'Snatch' it, only for Dante to use Prop instead. Thankfully, one thing is still in place as she Stinger the demon, nailing it to the wall. Then, she Prop again sending the Scarecrow to the air, and then accidentally taps the button again, turning Prop into Shredder and kills the demon in the air.
Pausing after that, Ruby puts the controller down for a moment before laughing nervously. "Hehehe... guess he's no jokes."
"And that's just ONE button." T.O says. "Think about when you combine with other buttons like with Nero."
"..." Looking down at the controller and starting to move her fingers to some Nero combos, she realizes: "Oh..."
Weiss smirks as Ruby picks up the controller again. "Guess I have a new way to torture you: force you to reach SSS-style every mission then."
"NO!" Ruby lets out crocodile-tears.
Team CFVY watches in amusement.
Back to the game and resume it, Ruby High Roller two enemies up, slashes them with Swordmaster normal hits and (she changed the gun into Coyote-A) shoots them, blasting them away. Landing on the ground, Ruby presses the taunt button to trigger the enemies...
"A taunt button?" Coco says to herself. "Okay, now that's something I would do."
Changing to Gunslinger with Coyote-A, she presses the button when the Scarecrows are close, and she swings the gun around while blasting the demons out of her. Changing to Swordmaster, Ruby tries the Forward Lock-on, and that's a combo by itself by spamming the button, as she constantly slashes the demons in rapid succession, with the last charged hit killing the low health demons immediately. With a 'Get out of here!' end.
"I think you can use this one well, Yatsu." Fox chuckles. "Bashing the demons away while screaming excitedly."
"Please don't. It's embarrassing."
One thing Ruby likes about Dante is that the Split move only requires her to press one button in the air. And it's powerful just as Nero's.
Though, because of the game being in Devil Hunter difficulty, the Scarecrows die quickly before Ruby could explore Dante's skills.
"Well, for one thing, the game interests me." Coco takes another piece of snack. "Who made this one? I can give them some compliments."
"Well..." Both Oum and T.O say at the same time, not really knowing how to say... before T.O replies: "I will tell them for you."
"Hm..." Coco raises her eyebrows up, but says nothing else.
Taking the time, Ruby starts exploring the Devil Hunter's skills:
Trickster: She can dash once in the air and a small delay between dashes on the ground, teleport (though she can only 'teleport' in place if there's nothing to blink towards).
Swordmaster: Backwards Lock-on lets her charge up the blade, and then releases three slash waves if she taps fast enough. Melee plus style button equals one normal slash followed by a slash wave.
Gunslinger: If she's in the air, she points Ebony & Ivory down and rapid fires the heck out of the dual pistols.
"...Are those guns semi-automatic?" Fox asks in surprise.
"No. Dante MANUALLY fires each shot." T.O says otherwise.
"Then he must have a very quick finger." Coco says, then nudges Velvet once. The Faunus doesn't understand at first... one plus one equals a red face.
Ruby then checks Royalguard, but other than a fist strike and a block, nothing noticeable (yet).
...
Getting to the meeting room, a trio of something with extremely sharp blades flies into the room with high speed, lands on the floor before rolling towards Dante. Though, the Devil Hunter pulls out Rebellion, slowly points it towards the enemies with a smirk, then gets into a swing position, and hits the first one right back at the other two, causing them to fly in different ways and crash on the wall, before falling face-first to the floor. With that done, Dante just casually stabs the tip of Rebellion on the ground while watching the demons recovering...
"Ten out of ten for style points!" Yang grins and raises her hands up in excitement. Ruby and Nora quickly follow.
"You can learn much from this guy, Yatsu." Fox reminds him again, which earns him a smack on the shoulder from the big guy.
"I... don't think I could even mimic what he could do even if I try." Velvet says nervously.
"Don't sell yourself low." Coco disagrees.
Using Stinger to get close to one, Ruby slashes it twice normally before using Dance Macabre but stop before the Million Stab could be executed. She then launches it up with a High Roller, slashes it three times with Swordmaster then shoots it down with Coyote-A. Landing down, she uses Quick Drive and three consecutive Drives to end it.
While Ruby starts going ham on the other two, Ren comments: "Dante's gameplay surely kicks up a notch. Nero has powerful hits, but Dante is much more mobile and has more varieties of attacks."
"And that's just Ruby scratching the surface." T.O says.
"If this is just scratching the surface..." Fox speaks up. "Then we're definitely going to have a wild ride tonight."
"Agreed." The rest of his team nod.
"Speaking of these ones." Jaune comments. "They're just the bigger versions of the ones in the last room, right?"
"Correct. They're called Mega Scarecrows."
"Hm, fitting."
...
Returning back to the elevator, Ruby takes the Wing Talisman, causing the device to descend, carrying her down. She then continues...
Red lights flash up, and the blaring noise echoes through the building with a warning: "God's power no longer resides here. Headquarters has begun to collapse. You have less than 10 minutes to escape." With that, the whole building shakes up...
"Really? A run against time, and out of an exploding building?" Weiss facepalms. "Does that remind you all of something?"
"Obviously." Both team RWBY and JNPR says at the same time, causing the leader of the former team to paint her face the exact same color as her cloak.
She then runs ahead, but finds out that the 'elevator' that's supposed to be there is nowhere in sight. "What the? I don't remember a hole here."
"This game has no fall damages, Ruby. Just jump down."
Following Blake's advice, she jumps and finds a Gold Orb and another 'puzzle wheel', that calls the elevator down. However, when she enters it, the door shuts down and the Ice Demons appear, ready to slice her up.
"Just one mission and it's already chaotic." Coco comments.
Though, since she hasn't used it before, she decides to turn DT in the middle of Dance Macabre. While hitting one of the Frosts, the other conceals itself in the ice coffin. But the combo itself is already powerful, combined with the power up from DT, it takes only two normal hits and the last hit of the combo to knock both demons out while killing the previous one. Another appears... and becomes the punching bag when DT enhances Stinger into a ridiculously powerful strike.
"Wait! He is a demon?" Velvet asks in surprise.
"Half demon." Oum replies.
Once it's over, the elevator goes up and opens the door...
"Oh THAT was this elevator all along?" Nora exclaims.
"Always has been." T.O says in an extremely low tone that only Oum can hear, and the professor just chuckles.
Finding the Big Red Crystal again, Ruby decides to use Prop and Shredder, and these two do the work miraculously. Once done, she quickly follows the route...
"You know, if it really happens, you would not take anytime doing these." Coco comments again.
"We know." Team RWBY replies, and Ruby adds. "Unless I use my Semblance." That earns her Weiss' facepalm, Blake's giggle and Yang's LOL.
...
Entering the next room, the place Ruby stands on suddenly gives away, making her land on the lower ground. Red strings cover the Time Slow device, and the Geist-like demons appear.
"Now I wish I have Nero's charge shots to deal with this." Ruby says out loud. Then the gun changing button hint shows up. "A bit too late here game."
Using E&I with Gunslinger, Ruby plans to shoot the cloak out, but for some reasons the bullets are super weak, that a volley of bullets only deplete a layer of protection. However, changing back to Trickster and equipping Coyote-A, she teleports to the demon and shoots it to the face, managing to destroy its cloak.
"...Looks like a smaller, red Death Stalker to me." That earns Coco nods from her team.
"Except that the tail could shoot you from far away." Ruby's addition makes the last year team shudder.
Since these demons are just the red ones, Ruby doesn't have any problems dealing with them. Once the fight's over, she's able to reach to the Slow Time device. However, when she pulls out the Key of Cronus out of it, the turbine somehow spins in an extremely fast speed, before it blows up and stops at the position that allows her to jump up.
"That's... convenient." Fox comments. "Normal stuffs wouldn't line up like this that easily."
Yatsuhashi shrugs. "Then life would be too easy." However, he retracts his statement when Ruby enters the laser room. "...That's something I wouldn't like dealing with."
"Well thankfully we have the item to slow down time." Weiss speaks, and Ruby demonstrates it.
With Trickster, she easily gets past the room with zero problems.
...
Returning to the Grand Hall, Ruby faces the Angelos again. Though, since she fought these ones before even without Buster, so these ones aren't that hard of a challenge with Dante's versatile movements. The problem here is the Alto Angelo when it commands the others to different formations. Just a little more annoying to fight. And it makes one critical mistake by using the armors' special move, which Ruby just deflects it back by using Prop.
Once done, she plans to head out, but then she sees the Combat Adjudicator that Nero is able to break. She decides to come and slashes it, but it has the same message when she uses Nero to slash the red one.
"There is another one in the upper way, right?" Weiss immediately remembers about that one statue. Do we have enough time?"
"Eh... probably?"
In the end, Ruby does go upstairs. However, midway, the annoying Flying Sword demons appear, and this time it's a real pain because of the number and how Dante doesn't have proper movement to deal with them (yet). Though, in the end, she gets the Blue Orb Fragment, and she gets out of the building.
...
Casually walking out of the building, Dante then hears the sound of the explosion, and he turns back to see a huge part of the wall of the building falling down, breaking the bridge and blocking the way back. He reacts with a satisfied "Yeah" and walks away like nothing happens.
"I wish I have that kind of carefree attitude from him." Jaune chuckles nervously.
"Then you are not our Jaune." Pyrrha denies his fantasy, though still manages to not make him feel bad.
"The Order of the Sword, huh?" Dante casually eats his piece of pizza before asking the question.
"Is it a flashback?" Velvet asks in confusion.
"It is."
"Yes." A lady with...
"Hey, I didn't know you participated in making this game!" Fox jokingly nudges Coco's left arm with his elbow.
"If I did, I don't think I would be sitting here with you guys." Coco snorts, but she has a small smile at her teammate's joke.
"Yeah... you two really look alike." Oum comments.
"By the way, what is her name, T.O?" Weiss asks.
"It's Lady. And yes, this is not her real name." The man then explains further. "But, due to some circumstances, she never used her old name again."
"Are you familiar with them?" Lady asks Dante.
"Sorry, religion and I don't mix." Next to Dante, Gloria? is sitting on the table while eating another piece of pizza.
Lady then explains: "It's a small congregation that gathers in the castle town of Fortuna. I guess the only people who would have heard of it are the ones who take interest in this type of thing."
"Like you?" Dante jokingly asks back.
"Exactly."
"Are all of them Devil Hunters?" Velvet asks in confusion. "I was expecting them to be... more serious."
"Are you sure you want a Professor Glynda in the game?"
"...I will pass that, thank you Coco."
"So just how much do you know about Sparda?"
"Is it just me, or the camera..."
"Yes, they are, Ren."
"Well, from what I can figure there's a lot of confusion surrounding him."
Dante then takes a small glance towards Gloria?. Lady does the same, but says nothing to the other woman as she adds: "The story goes that Sparda served as the feudal lord of the city long ago. The people who live there today take these legends as truth and worship him... Just like a god."
"They worship a demon as a god?" That sparks up Dante's interest.
"Okay, that just screams that they are the bad guys." Fox shakes his head in disappointment.
"Actually it's not that bad." Blake shoots down Fox's theory. "Sparda did actually help human fighting against his own kind. He's sort of 'one of a kind'."
"The stand-out." Oum adds.
"Peaceful worship can't be condemned." Lady is also okay with it. However: "But the real problem is the Order." Gloria? then stands up and walks away after finishing her pizza. "Lately they've been running amok, catching demons and have even butted in on some of my jobs."
Dante doesn't take it as a danger as he jokes: "Maybe they're starting a zoo."
"Really? A zoo full of demons?" Coco sarcastically asks.
"Not just demons." Snatching the pizza from Dante's hand, Lady adds further: "They've also been targeting Devil Arms, like the ones you have."
"OK then, a museum." That smarta$$ doesn't earn him back the pizza, causing him to sigh then lean back to his chair while putting his feet back on the table. "So what?"
"Well, what if their intentions are foul and there's a diabolical plan behind those apparently random acts?"
This time Dante decides to join in: "Well then I'd have something to keep me occupied and - Trish!" Dante then calls for the other woman, but finds no answers.
"Oh so that's her name. Trish." Yang exclaims.
"Really, you didn't know her name?"
"She was called Gloria before this point miss Adel." Ren explains.
Turning his head back, Dante sees one of his weapons 'gone', with a note: "See you there."
Back to the present, Dante chuckles at the memory while walking through the forest. "Things always gotta be complicated..."
And with that, the mission ends.
"It's more light-hearted than I expected." Ruby comments as she puts down the controller.
"All of us, Ruby." Weiss follows the same sentiment. "Dante is still treating this too lightly."
"That's because, it is." T.O replies. He then takes the controller and starts restarting the mission. "Alright, there's something I would like to show you before the next mission."
"Hidden objects?" Blake asks in curiosity.
"No. Some techniques that you might need."
"Before that, what do you think, team CFVY?" Oum decides to ask for the team's feeling during the changing time.
"Interesting." Coco is first. "Good graphic, cheesy lines that suit my taste."
"Fun interactions between this Dante and the ladies." Fox is second.
"Good combat so far. And if he said it's just the surface..." Yatsuhashi is next.
"Hm... is this why team RWBY's technique got better?" Velvet then remembers that recently the team suddenly pulled out a lot of strange combat tactics that actually worked well.
"Yep!" Both Yang and Ruby say as they take some snacks.
"Alright. We're back." T.O announces.
Right at the beginning, T.O changes the style into Royalguard, and walks to one of the Scarecrows. He then waits for the demon to slowly hit him... and when the attack is close enough, he presses the button to block the damage completely, that fills the Style meter and one of DT bars. He then waits for another, but this time he holds the button before the hit. And when the hit comes, he actually loses a bit of health, albeit less than when the attack is not blocked.
"The normal block would minimize the damage, but Royal Block completely negates every damage." T.O then explains as he pauses a bit.
"So you need precise timing." Yatsuhashi says, earning a nod. "That makes things more interesting then."
T.O then destroys the demons but leaves one to continue testing. "Do you remember the 'two health bars' deflect skill?"
"...We CAN perform that?" Ruby asks in excitement.
"The same timing as Royal Block..." When the demon's about to hit, T.O does the Royal Release and instantly kills the demon. "Except that you have to use Forward Lock-on combination."
"What about Backward?"
"Then this happens Blake." Dante then charges up his energy and creates a devilish armor around him. "This one completely blocks every damage, but the Style meter would deplete if you take hits directly."
Running to the next room, T.O starts fighting the Mega Scarecrows again. However, when one of them is nearly dead (one shot from E&I is enough), he instead uses Dance Macabre. While the others would expect the demon die, but only until the end of the combo would it turn to dust.
"This combo, if used when the demon is in low HP, won't kill them until you use different skills or hit the demon with the last hit." He then continues...
Upon reaching the timer section...
"We can skip the entire fight with the Frosts." Reaching the edge, T.O uses DT and equips Trickster, then he gets past the hole with a Double Sky Star and Triple Jump...
"Those moves are upgraded as well?" Ruby exclaims.
"That's why Dante is more superior than Nero in skills."
Reaching the laser room...
"Okay, fair warning. I'm not exactly a pro, so expect me to fail sometimes."
"Oh don't tell me you're planning to pass THAT without time slow." Weiss is not believing it.
"There is a way, but currently we can't." T.O then slows the time down and equips Royalguard...
"Oh that's tricky." Fox comments. "The timing must be very precise."
"Correct." To demonstrate, he manages to get a few Royal Block, but when it's a normal block, the stance breaks and he loses a normal amount of health. "You can even use Royal Release or even Dreadnaught, but..."
"The former needs perfect timing, and the later has no style." That earns Oum a nod from the other man.
Receiving back the controller, Ruby then starts the next mission...
Chapter 12 end!
So yeah, I decided to have team CFVY to join the party!
AND MONTY OUM!
If anyone has read my previous RWBY reaction story, then you know that in this timeline Oum is reincarnated and works as a Combat Professor. HOWEVER, since I don't actually know him too much, I will keep his words and actions in minimum. Though, if you guys want more...
Depending on my mood, would I write the next chapter immediately or not (sorry, but it must be done if I want my story to be okay). See you all in the future!
And no more Skills added. It's kinda pointless at this point.
