Regina smiled widely as she watched Roland run up and down the concrete sidewalk ahead of her and Robin. Robin held tightly to her hand as they walked to Granny's for the celebration dinner and announcement of the birth of the newest Charming. Regina was slightly jealous. She absently touched her own flat stomach, wishing that she was pregnant. She hoped now that the battle was over, her body would relax and she could finally conceive.
"We're here!" Roland exclaimed as the rounded the corner to the diner. Roland ran inside, with Robin and Regina behind him.
Regina stood in the center of the diner as Emma approached her.
"Regina, I brought someone back with me, from the past. She still thinks of you,"
"As evil."
"It's delicate, I'm going to bring her over so you can meet her and she can see."
"I understand." Emma smiled and nodded toward a brunette near the back. She sat down the drink she was nursing and slowly made her way to her.
"Regina, I'd like you to meet." She started but was cut off.
"Marian?" he asked, almost in tears.
"Robin?" the woman responded.
"Marian! I never thought I'd see you again!" He exclaimed pulling her into his arms.
"And I you."
"Mama?" said a small voice from behind them. Robin released her and Marian knelt down to the boy.
"Roland, oh my baby!" she said and picked the boy up. Robin engulfed his small family and held them tightly.
Regina turned to Emma.
"You, you did this?" she asked, broken. Emma's face was pure despair as she looked at her.
"I just wanted to save her life." Emma replied
"You're just like your mother, never thinking of consequences."
"I didn't know."
"Of course you didn't. Well you better hope to hell you didn't bring anything else back." She said and stormed out.
Regina paused for a moment outside the diner and pressed her head into her hands. The doorbell rang indicating someone had opened the door.
"Regina,"
"Not now Swan. "
"I'm sorry. When I brought Marian back , I didn't know who she was. I didn't intend to cause you pain." She explained. Regina turned to face her.
"Well your intentions really don't matter. Because once again I feel the brunt of heroism. Always the villain, even when I'm not."
"What was I supposed to do?"
"You were dumb enough to travel though time, maybe you should have left well enough alone."
"I'm not going to apologize for saving someone's life.
"She was to die anyway, what did it matter?"
"What matters is she is a person and whatever she did she didn't deserve to die."
"Maybe she did."
"You would know, I saved her from you." Regina took a step back, hurt.
"The woman who did that? That was the person I was not the person I am. I have worked very hard to build a future, one that is now gone." She replied, fighting back the tears.
"You don't know that.
"Well it's going to be really hard now that he is reunited with his dead wife,"she said.
"And for that I'm sorry. I was only trying to help.." Regina cut her off, shaking her head.
"Miss Swan, just stop, because the more you try to help, the worse my life becomes," she said, barely above a whisper. She started to turn to leave when the door opened again.
"Marian, please meet her. She's not what you think." Robin said as he led Marian out. He walked right up to her.
"Regina, I want you to meet Marian. I want to talk about this."
"Why were you two.. are you two together?"
"Marian, please."
"You and the evil queen? Did you let her near my son. Do you know the terror she's inflicted?" she asked, almost yelling. She reached down and picked up Roland. The door opened once more and the Charmings along with Hook emerged.
"Is everything alright?" Asked Snow.
"Np one has been incinerated, that's a good sign," David stated as he walked down the steps.
"Regina, are you okay?" Snow asked again. Marian turned, shocked.
"Why are you all talking to her? Don't you know who she is?" she asked.
"Mom, whats going on?" Henry asked. Marian pointed her finger at Regina.
"She is a monster!" she yelled and walked away with Roland.
Regina turned around and stormed off. She couldn't be around any of them any longer. She walked to the corner then disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke. She reappeared in her office. She sat down on the couch when someone knocked on her door. She got up and walked to the door. She opened it and there was Robin. Moved to close the door but he stopped her.
"Regina, just let me talk." He asked. Regina moved aside and allowed him to walk in. Regina sat on the couch and Robin took a seat next to her.
"Regina, I'm sorry she spoke about you like that. She didn't know. I explained it to her." He said. Regina looked down, playing with her hands. She couldn't look him in the eye. She was terrified she'd lose any control she had right now.
"It's true. I'm the villain. Villians don't get a happy ending. It's how it's written. I have no control. Everything is laid out for us." She explained. Robin reached over and took her hands, causing her to look up at him.
"Regina, I don't know anything about things being laid out, but what we have is real." He said, causing Regina to smile.
"But, I am a man of my word and I made a vow to honor till death do us part. And it did, then it didn't. I'm sorry." He whispered. Regina nodded, trying to keep her composure. He stood, slipping his hands from hers and turned to leave. As the door closed, a single tear rolled down her cheek. She was angry, hurt, and heartbroken. She didn't know what to do. She stood and went to her desk, grabbing a vase. She launched it at the wall and then slid to the floor, hugging her knees to chest, sobbing. A gentle knock rapped against the door and she ignored it.
"Regina, please let me in." the voice belonged to Emma. Regina stood up and walked to the door. She opened up the door and walked to the couch. Emma stood in the door way.
"Regina…" she started. Regina looked up at her, her eyes rimmed with red. Emma's heart broke for her. Emma walked toward her and sat on the opposite end of the couch.
"Regina, I promise I didn't mean to hurt you." She whispered, playing with her hands.
"I know." Regina responded, quietly. Emma had prepared to plead her argument but she didn't expect Regina to not argue.
"You do?" she asked. Regina nodded, grabbing the pillow next to her and pulling it to her chest.
"I do. Emma, you are good. You tried to save a woman, who I had more than likely captured for no reason other than to make a point. I honestly didn't know who she was. I arrested and executed people for sport, if I'm being honest. Don't get me wrong, I'm angry with you, but I'm trying not to let that anger control me. I'm trying to change. I want to prove to her that I'm not that monster that captured her and sentenced her to death. As she stood there trying to convince all of you that I was evil, I believed her but you all jumped to my defense. That was something I'd never thought I'd see. I need to be better." She explained. Emma was taken back. She hadn't expected this at all.
"Regina, as much as you try to self destruct, we aren't going to let you. You have all the support in the world right here. Henry thinks nothing but the best in you and he is willing to help you stay that way. Robin…"
"Is gone." Regina said, cutting her off.
"Gone?"
"He has decided to keep his vow to her. I can't blame him."
"I'm so sorry."
"Please stop apologizing."
"I…okay." Emma stood and offered her hand to her. Regina looked up and shook her head.
"I don't feel like socializing right now. Have Henry bring me some left overs from the party?"she asked.
"Of course." Emma said, smiling. She turned and left the room. Regina sighed, and stood and disappeared in a puff of smoke to her house. She started her shower and undressed, climbing in letting the warm water rush over her muscles, trying to forget about the day.
