Chapter 3: Bonding

Monster High

Everything was going according to plan for Vlad. He was able to monitor all the different students that entered his classroom and determine if they could be of use to him. And while he had to keep up appearances, that was no issue for someone of his caliber. For his first lesson, he taught the students about the Ghost Zone, and what made one particular class interesting was one that included the five girls he first met at the entrance of the school when he first arrived.

Draculaura, Frankie, Clawdeen, Cleo, and Lagoona where their names. Vlad already had the genetic code for a vampire and werewolf, but the other three peaked his interest, especially Frankie. He heard these girls had went into the Ghost Zone and faced Skulker alongside Daniel, and when he asked them to share their experience with the class, the ghouls didn't hesitate.

Vlad and the other students listened to the ghouls recount of their adventure into the Ghost Zone. Their story allowed him to understand how they overcame, Skulker and gave him conformation on his theory regarding Frankie's abilities. She was a walking power supply, and her statement on how ghost electricity effected her got an idea to spark in Vlad's head. One that he planned on testing today, as Frankie had asked him if he could help her with several of her science projects.

Speaking of the young Stine, she was making her way to the science lab, and in her hands was a box of her projects. She couldn't wait to start working on them with their new teacher, Vlad. It's pretty much known she was considered the brainy one of the Ghoul Squad and that science was her hobby, and she was fine with that but now she had someone who is also a science buff and inventor.

As she reached the science lab, she opened the door and stepped inside to find her professor was already waiting. "Sorry, I kept you waiting professor." She apologized.

"It's not a problem at all, Frankie." Vlad replied. While he was in a hurry to test out his theory, he had to maintain his composure while around everyone else. "Now, what project did you need my help with?"

Frankie dropped the box she was carrying on the table, it made a noticeably loud thud when it landed, causing Vlad to wonder just how many inventions the girl had been working on. "Let's see…" She began sifting through the box, pulling out various devices.

Vlad glanced at each device but what his eyes caught next made him nearly gasp. It was his dimensional travel device he created for, Skulker to use to get from the Ghost Zone to Monster High! He knew they used that to escape Skulker's Island but he surely would have thought Daniel would have took it with him, not leave it behind.

Vlad picked up the device. "This seems like an interesting device." He said aloud in order to gain, Frankie's attention.

"Oh, that's the dimensional travel device we used to escape, Skulker's Island." Frankie replied. "I've been trying to see if I can copy it's teleportation function to the Monster Mapalogue so we can teleport to different dimensions with it, just in case a monster ends up in Ghost Zone or another different dimension."

Vlad had to admit, just by looking at this girls inventions and the way she talks he could tell she was ambitious and extraordinarily intelligent. If he could only turn her to his side… but he knew she likely wasn't going to join him. For now, he had more pressing matters.

"You wouldn't mind if I took it off your hands and give it look myself, do you?" He asked.

"Not at all, Professor V." She said with honest smile. "It's so cool that, I finally have a friend that shares my favorite interest."

A friend? Hearing someone that Vlad only met for short time now call him such a thing… he didn't know how to respond. The last person he once called a friend, ruined his life and stole the woman he love. No, he didn't need nor did he want a friend, at least that's what he continued to tell him himself.

"Ah! Here it is!." Frankie said as she pulled out a device familiar to, Vlad. "The Fenton Thermos. Danny allowed us to keep a two just in case, Skulker ever comes back."

Vlad was a bit nervous, now that he new they had a method of capturing him if he's found out.

Frankie place the ghost capture device on the table before continuing. "I've been trying to modify it, increasing it's range, how many ghosts it can capture at once, storage capacity… but most importantly, I'm trying to shrink it down to make it less clunky."

This was the perfect opportunity for Vlad to get her to use her electric powers. "Hmm… I know just the thing." Vlad said, pulling out his I Coffin. "Take a look at these schematics. I'm sure you'll find them helpful."

He handed, Frankie the I Coffin and it only took her a few moments before understanding what the schematics were for. "Fangtastic!" She shouted. "These blueprints utilize nanotechnology to shrink down matter and reconstruct it for easier use!."

Once again, Vlad was impressed with her observations. Those schematics were the same ones he used when he created, Valerie Gray's suit which could construct all of her weapons from the suit itself.

"This would most definitely help… but the school doesn't have this high level technology." Frankie said, disappointment evident in her voice.

"No need to worry, Frankie. I have all the necessary equipment in my personal lab." Vlad replied. His statement caused, Frankie's frown to vanish. "But first I'd like to see the Fenton Thermos active. Could you give it a charge?"

"Absolutely." Frankie said as she raised her hand towards the thermos.

With her focus on the thermos, Frankie failed to notice, Vlad's hand close to her head. Vlad emitted a small jolt of his ghost energy from his hand like a brief ghost stinger, that was unintentionally absorbed by Frankie, and in less then second it traveled trough her body, fusing with her own electricity.

As she released her electricity from her fingertips and into the thermos, the surge of enhanced energy overcharged the device, causing it to activate on it's own. A powerful blue energy erupted upwards from the thermos, unlike the usual energy that it released, this was destructive. The blue URL 2 smashed through the science room ceiling, leaving a steaming hole that had a clear view of the outside.

"Oh no!!" Frankie cried. "I… I don't know what happened, Professor! I didn't mean to use that much electricity. Mr. D is going to be so mad."

While Frankie was freaking out, Vlad was pleased. Ghost energy enhanced Frankie's power outstandingly, and if something like this applied to all monsters, it could be beneficial to his plan.

"Don't worry, Frankie." Vlad said, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sure, the headmaster will understand, after all, it was an accident. And a simple roof fix, should be no problem."

Vlad's words seem to calm Frankie down. "Your right, Professor." She agreed. "And, I know just the ghoul who can fix up that roof in no time, her name is Rochelle Goyle, she's a gargoyle, and their good at fixing roofs. Though she doesn't attend Monster High since fixing roofs are her thing and she mainly stays in Paris, but with the Mapalogue, will have her here in no time."

This day couldn't get any better for Vlad, since this gargoyle, Rochelle doesn't attend the school like the other students, he'll have a much easier time catching her without issue.

"I'll go get the other ghouls." Said Frankie. "I bet they can't wait to go see Rochelle too."

'Neither can I.' Vlad thought.

Amity Park

While Vlad was moving his plans forward, Danny and his friends were spending their free time at the Nasty Burger.

"So, Danny. How are things with your parents?" Asked Tucker. He and Sam knew, Danny's parents accepted him but they wanted to make sure everything was ok.

"Honestly, everything is alright." Danny replied, taking a sip of his soda. "I haven't had to deal with my parents trying to blast Phantom on a regular basis which is nice. Though, they have been acting a bit different."

"Different, how?" Sam asked.

"Well for one, they haven't gone down to the lab or tried to invent anything ever since I told them my secret." He answered.

Both Tucker and Sam gave each other a surprised look before both replied "Wow!".

"I know, It's pretty odd." Danny sighed.

"Maybe it's there way of dealing with the whole situation." Tucker assumed. "Either way, it's good they now know your not some menace."

Danny couldn't agree more, it felt like a weight was lifted off his shoulders.

"So, what do you guys have planned for the weekend?" Sam asked. "My parents plan on taking me on some fancy vacation out of town and I can't get out of going." She huffed.

"No news from my parents." Tucker said. "So I guess I'm free to hit up our usual spots."

"I... was actually thinking seeing if the ghouls at Monster High would like to hang out." Danny said.

Sam's face changed to one of annoyance. "You still think it's a good idea to go back there, Danny?" She asked him.

"Sam, we talked about this. Those girls aren't bad people, and I made a promise that I'd visit them." He replied. "What's so wrong about me wanting to hang out with them?"

"News flash, Danny. Your not a legit monster, you're a kid who was given powers by a machine, so what makes you so sure they'll accept you?" She asked.

"My parents, who've tried to hunt me down since the day they saw me as Phantom, accepted me for who I am when I told them. So why wouldn't the monsters? Plus their nice and reasonable, not like you've been for the past week." Danny replied.

"Excuse me! What's that suppose to mean?" Sam scowled and crossed her arms.

Tucker sighed, he new this was about to turn into another one of their arguments, and he hoped they'd keep him out of it. But while Danny and Sam were bickering, Tucker spotted an unfriendly sight walk into the restaurant.

"Uh oh. Dude." Tucker nudged Danny, getting his attention. "Angry Dash, 12 o clock."

Danny sighed as he saw, Dash approaching their table. "Oh great, just what I needed." He said sarcastically.

"Why not just selfishly use your powers on him to get even?" Sam snorted.

Danny shot her a glare but before he could retort, Dash had reached their table.

"Fenturd!" Dash shouted, glaring at Danny.

"What do you want this time, Dash?" Danny asked. It was obvious from Danny's tone, he wasn't in the mood.

"Because a little… misunderstanding at school, I not only got detention, I got banned from playing any football games for the rest of the month!!" Dash shouted. "I think you know what that means."

"That you'll finally stop acting like a total jerk, and treat others with respect?" Danny said with a sarcastic smile.

"No!" Dash grabbed Danny by his shirt collar. "It means, I'm going wale on you even harder till your black and blue! Starting now!"

As Dash cocked his fist back, a strong hand grabbed his arm and stopped it cold. "I going to asked that you let that young man go." Said an adult male voice.

"Oh yeah. Who's asking!?" Dash asked as he turned around to see who stopped him.

Dash's eyes widened when he came face to face with Danny's father, Jack Fenton. "His father." Jack said.

The look on Jack's face told Dash everything he needed to know, 'let my son go right now or there's going to be trouble'.

"W… whatever man." Dash released Danny, prompting Jack to release his arm. "I'm out of here."

As Dash walk away, holding his arm in pain. Jack turned to his son and his face switch to one of worry.

"You ok, son?" Jack asked, although knowing now who his son really was, he knew he would have been fine but any good father would still ask.

"Yeah, uh… thanks, Dad." Danny was surprised that his father showed up out of the blue like that but was happy nonetheless. "That was awesome, the way you handled Dash."

Jack couldn't help but smile from his son's praise. "Thanks, Danny."

"So, what brings you here Mr. F?" Tucker asked. "We usually don't see you around this place."

"Oh, right. I almost forgot." Jack rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment. "Your mother and Jazz decided to go out and have some mother-daughter bonding time, so I thought you and I could also spend the day together. You know, a little father-son time… if your not busy of course."

To say Danny was surprised was an understatement. Don't get him wrong, his dad always tried to spend time with him, but majority of the time, it involved hunting ghosts, more in particular, Phantom. But now that he actually looked at his father, he was wearing blue overalls on top of an orange shirt and his sleeves were rolled up. He didn't spot any weapons on him either.

Danny took a moment to answer, giving a look over at Sam, who had her arms crossed and was looking away from him. She was clearly still mad at him. He then glanced over at Tucker who simply shrugged, not protesting.

Danny turned back to his father and smiled. "Sure, Dad. I'm free." He said.

Jack smiled in returned. "Then let's get a move on, time waits for no one."

When Danny and his father left the restaurant, Tucker went back to eating the last of his food but was kicked in the shin from underneath the table by Sam.

"Ouch!" He cried out before glaring at her. "What was that for?"

"What's your problem, Tucker? Why didn't you back me up just now?" She asked.

"Sam, it's Danny's choice, not ours. And if these monsters are as friendly as he says they are then who knows, they very well might accept him." Tucker replied.

"And if they don't?" She questioned.

"Then well have his back, like friends should." He answered. "And honestly, I'm starting to think you're more worried about those girls hanging around Danny then anything else."

"W.. what! I don't know what your talking about." Sam lied, looking away.

Tucker gave her an unconvinced look. "Come on, Sam. Every time, Danny talks about those monster girls, you get upset. And anybody with eyes can see you two have feelings for each other, and while I know Danny can be clueless at times but you're the one who doesn't mind speaking out about how she feels yet you can't admit your feelings too him."

"I didn't ask for, nor do I want your relationship advice, Tucker!." She scowled before standing up. "I'm just worried about, Danny's safety. Unlike you."

Without saying another word, Sam stood up and stormed out of the restaurant, leaving Tucker by himself. Sam acted like she didn't care if Danny hung out with other girls but even she knew that wasn't true, but she didn't want to admit it. She couldn't keep him away from other girls forever, and if she kept acting how she did now, Danny might not see her the same way.

Amity Park (Outskirts)

Danny was riding in the passenger seat of the RV while his dad was behind the wheel. Luckily for Danny, it seemed his father wasn't in a rush so the drive was smooth enough.

"So, dad." Danny turned to face his father. "Where are we headed?"

Danny had noticed they weren't in the urban areas of Amity Park, and were closer to the spot where they went fishing before.

"A new hiking trail opened up near our fishing spot and I thought we could spend a few hours hiking…" Jack explained. "Unless you'd rather do something else?"

Danny noticed his dad seemed unsure, and it was obvious even to him that his father wanted to spend time with him but likely didn't know the best way for them to start.

"Hiking is fine, dad." Danny assured him.

The drive had soon come to an end, and the two grabbed their supplies and began heading up the mountain trail. After awhile, the two stopped for a short break, and Jack decided to try and strike up a conversation.

"So, Danny." He said. "What uh… how's things with your friends… and school…"

"Dad." Danny spoke up. "You don't half to try so hard, you know."

Jack sighed. "That's where your wrong, son. I've been so stupid and blind I couldn't see the truth right in front of me all this time. I tried to hunt down my own son for goodness sake, and I honestly don't know what to do to make things right."

"You've already started." Danny said. "I was afraid that you and mom wouldn't have accepted me, but you did. You actually listened and I can see that you really want to make things better, but you don't half to do anything extravagant."

Danny saw his father smile, letting him know he understood. And while everything seemed to be going well, an all to familiar icy blue mist expelled itself from Danny's mouth.

"Oh no…" Danny said aloud, looking around the area.

"What's wrong?" Jack asked.

"It's my ghost sense." Danny explained. "It goes off whenever another ghost is near."

The sound of heavy growls expelled from the nearby bushes. Both Jack and Danny got ready, as they continued to observe the area around them, a group of mutated and savage animal ghosts emerged from foliage.

Danny remembered seeing these ghost animals before and instantly knew who sent them. 'Plasmius' he thought to himself. He was wondering when Vlad was going to try something, looks like this was it.

"I'm Going Ghost!!!" Danny called forth his ghostly energy, the rings of light passed over his body, transforming him into his ghostly alter ego.

Seeing his son transform again before his eyes made, Jack think back to all the time he tried to capture or destroy him. It made him realize he truly knew nothing about his sons life and what he was going through, and now he had the chance and was going to be their for his son.

Jack reached into his pocket and grabbed a small device, that he used to activate the ghost assault vehicle's autopilot. The RV started itself and began driving up the mountain trail but it would take a minute before it reached them.

Danny not wanted the group of ghosts to make the first move, fired a ghost ray from both his hands at two of the ghosts, blasting them back. However, before he could continue several of them darted past him too attack his father.

"Dad! Look out!" Danny shouted.

Jack leaped out of the way of the charging ghosts but was tackled into the bushes by a larger bear like ghosts. Danny was about to chase after them but was relieved when his dad stood back up, wrestling the bear ghost.

"Don't worry about me!" Jack responded.

While Jack was good, he was still fighting a ghost and lacked his gear. The ghost took advantage of this and phases into the floor and came back up behind, Jack, who just barley dodged a swipe from it.

Seeing that fighting like this would get him nowhere, Jack started running in the direction in which the RV was coming. Hot on his trail were multiple ghosts, and this made it obvious to Danny that they were here for his dad, not him.

"Not on my watch." Danny shot up into the air like a rocket.

He flew above the area, blasting the ghosts that got the closest to his dad. Danny was so worried about his father, he hadn't noticed the large bird like ghost flying above him. In one swift motion, the ghost did a nose dive and tackled the unaware ghost by into the ground, leaving a small crater.

Danny quickly recover, avoiding the sharp beak that the ghost used to peck at him with. "Back off, you overgrown turkey!" He shouted

Summoning cold energy, Danny froze the ghost and shattered it with a single punch. He then looked over to see his dad cornered by several more ghosts but before he could help, the sound of the Fenton RV engine roared as it came barreling through the trees and slamming into the ghosts surrounding Jack, and blasting the other ones nearby with it's weapons.

Jack quickly hoped inside to grab his gear while, Danny landed on top of the RV. When Jack emerged with his blaster, he gave Danny a thumbs up. Both smiled at each other before turning their attention to the ghosts who had just recovered from the RV's assault. With a loud battle cry, the Fenton men charged into battle.

With their teamwork, the two made short work of the ghosts, with the remaining ones running away… or so they thought. When they weren't paying attention, one of the ghosts phased through the ground below, tackling Danny to the ground, and readied a strike.

"Get off my son!!" Jack shouted as he fired a blast from his bazooka, sending the ghost flying.

Not wanted to be destroyed, the ghost took off in fear. Leaving the two Fentons alone. For a moment, Danny was just staring at his father. 'he called he his son…' Danny thought to himself. Even though he was in his ghost form, his dad recognized him as his son, and it made Danny feel happy.

Amity Park (Fenton Works)

Danny was currently resting in his bed. He and his dad had returned from their outing and shared what happened with his sister and mother, both of whom were grateful that neither got hurt. The event, while unexpected, definitely made him and his dad closer.

While he was dozing off, the sound of his I Coffin's low battery alert caught his attention, it was almost dead. As he plugged it up, he noticed an alert message from Draculaura's Vampology Vlog. Deciding to see what the girls were up to, Danny opened the message to see a video had been uploaded.

As he clicked on the video, Draculaura was on the screen with a huge smile on her face, and seemed to be outside. "Hello to all my vampology vlog followers, I've got good news!." She shouted in delight.

She grabbed her laptop and turned it around to face the school. "Due to a donation from one of our new faculty members, Monster High has gotten even better!" Draculaura continued.

Danny's eye's widened in awe at how the new school looked. It sure wasn't that big when he was last there. He listened to Draculaura as she listed off all the new things the school had to offer, and he could see she was super excited about the changes.

"So if your worried that Monster High doesn't have enough room or what your looking for? Don't worry we have something for all monsters!" She said, giving one final wave as her pet spider Webby crawled on to her shoulder and waved goodbye as well.

When the video ended, Danny started to think to himself about what school would be like if he was in a place like Monster High. It definitely seemed fun compared to his current school and almost everyone he met there was friendly, heck he even made more friends then he had before but then he realized he wouldn't have Tucker and Sam around, and while he and Sam haven't been seeing eye to eye lately, they were all still friends. He couldn't imagine what his life would be like without them.

Danny let out a sigh before dropping his head back on to his pillow. He had Tucker do a little research and found out that Monster High is in Massachusetts near a little town called New Salem. 'Maybe, I can get my parents to take us on a little trip.' He thought. After all, he did make a promise to visit them again, but first he needed to tell his parents that these monsters aren't evil. The last thing he wants is for them to go on a monster hunt when they discover monsters are real.

Monster High

"And… done." Rochelle said while flying down from the ceiling of the science room.

Rochelle Goyle was a gargoyle, she had gray smooth stone like skin, long pink hair with teal strands, and pink eyes. She wore a black bow around her neck, a pink sleeveless top with black strips, short black leggings, and teal heels. Her most distinctive feature was a pair of wings on her back that she used to fly.

"What do you ghouls think?" She asked.

"It looks good as new, thanks Rochelle." Draculaura said.

"Sorry about coming to you on such a sort notice about this." Frankie apologize.

"Don't be." Rochelle replied. "It was great seeing you ghouls again, and this place has definitely changed since the last time I was here." She took notice to how much larger the school had become.

"Do you think you can stay for a while longer?, we'd love to show you around." Lagoona asked.

Rochelle sighed. "I'd love to, but there are many roofs out there that need fixing." She stated.

The ghouls were a bit saddened that she wasn't going to be able to stay longer but realized that it's simply the way her life was. They thought about messing with the roof a bit like they did before to keep her around longer but that wasn't they weren't fond of doing.

"I'll look over the roof once more before I go." She said. "Au revoir, ghouls." She gave them a goodbye wave before heading out of the classroom. But what she nor the other ghouls noticed was the invisible, Vlad Plasmius watching them from the classroom window.

After a few minutes, Rochelle had finished looking over the school's roof. Seeing no more problems, she was about to leave.

"Excuse me." A voice called out behind her.

Startled by the voice behind her, Rochelle jumped in fright as she turned around to see Vlad Plasmius floating behind her. "Oh, you startled me." She sighed in relief. "Who are you?"

"Plasmius, Vlad Plasmius." He replied. "I'm a teacher at this school. And I saw the fine work you did on the roof and I wanted know if you'd be so kind to help fix the roof of my home not too far from here." Vlad pointed off near the town of New Salam, to slightly visible mansion.

"I would be glad to help fix your roof." Rochelle replied.

"Excellent." Vlad said. "Follow me."

After a short flight, the two reached Vlad's mansion. However, as Rochelle began inspecting the roof, she noticed it was pristine, no damage too it at all.

"Monsieur Vlad, your roof seems fine, are you sure…"

Before Rochelle could finish what she was saying, Vlad placed his hand on her shoulder and released his energy, sending a powerful shock through the young gargoyle's body. She let out a cry in pain before falling unconscious, with Vlad catching her as she feel back.

Turning both himself and Rochelle intangible, Vlad phased through the building, down into his lab, and place the unconscious gargoyle in a capsule pod similar to those he once held Danny and his clones in.

"One down, many more to go." He laughed.

Vlad's laugh seemingly echoed throughout the empty halls of his home. No one could stop him, at least that's what he believed. His moment was interrupted when one of the ghost vultures phased into the lab.

Vlad looked back. "I trust you completed, your mission?" He asked.

"Yup, here it is boss." It handed over one of the Fentons gadgets in it's claw, it was an in-active Specter Deflector.

"Perfect." Vlad smiled.

He had the ghost vultures wait for the Fentons to leave their home and when the time was right, steal a Specter Deflector. And he had his ghost creatures attack Jack as a simple fake, in order to make Daniel think that was his plan, when in reality it didn't matter if they failed to destroy Jack. Now that he had this device, things will be a lot easier in the future.

End Chapter

Author Note: And another one for the books. Sorry for taking a while with this chapter, it went on a bit longer than the previous two, and I'm busy with other things but hopefully you guys/gals enjoy it. I also noticed there are mixed thoughts on what I have plan on happening with Vlad, I'd say you should give it a chance but I'm not going to force anyone to read his portions of the story. As for Danny, he'll be interacting with the ghouls from Monster High more soon, I'm spacing out the story to build up the characters relationships before everything comes together. As always, thanks for the reviews, favorites and follows, and please read & review.

Reviews:

DinoZillaPrime: Yeah, a showdown between the two would be cool. Also, I wouldn't say he's too far gone. Especially when you compare to what other characters in fiction have done yet get redeemed. There are also moments in the show that give a small glimpse of him actually having a different side.

William Escobar 608: Thanks for the review, for your question 7) Clockwork was referring to Vlad. Thanks for the suggestion on the ship, and yeah, Vlad confessing he hired Skulker would cause conflict.

simm36: Yup, I wanted to add more too Vlad's character and having some interesting conflict, and I thought Harriet would be an interesting choice.

The Brod Road: It's funny because Vlad actually grabs Danny by the throat at least 3 times during their encounters throughout the series, I didn't mean to go all wrestling with it lol. I decided to do more with Vlad's character so that's what brought along the redemption angle which will lead to further conflict in the future, and yeah, Vlad's got a head start on the trust with the ghouls so Danny's going to have trouble with proving him to be the bad guy. Danny and the rest of team phantom will get involved in Monster High soon to.

qazse: That's not fully true, Masters of All Time was one interpretation of the future, and it goes against other instances of Vlad actually showing a different side to his character (albeit small instances). Also, while what I have planned can be seen as a "redemption" arc for him, I wouldn't go as far as to say it will be some cheesy happy ending. He's done some unforgivable stuff so not everyone will simply forgive him like nothings happened. If you want to ignore his parts then feel free. As for the harem thing, Danny, Lagoona, and Clawdeen will have further interactions and I might go a route with those two ghouls but I'm still not sure.

Guest 1: Yeah, there are some good ones but they stop early and never get finished.

Guest 2: I do know it's possible for Vlad to have redemption, and I already said Danielle will appear, just later. And I don't see her being Danny's "daughter" as something I'm going to go with because it doesn't fit with the story in my opinion.

Guest 3: I'm glad you liked the previous chapter. I have something planned for Vlad in the future.
