Randall was happy to return to the Eyrie Building. The clan welcomed him home with open arms after their affair with Fang, relieved that he was alright.

He settled back into his room again, pleased to rest in his own bed. Deep down though, Randall suddenly thought of that she gargess he encountered that time ago, hoping he wouldn't run into her again anytime soon. Little did he know she had been thinking about him, too.

….

At Nightstone Unlimited, Demona was pondering over that lizard pest who chose the clan over her. She had to find a way to convince him that she can be the only way he could return home. A little smile then came onto Demona's face.

Maybe a simple magic poisoning could do the trick. When no doctors can help, he would have to come to me for a cure, like when I attempted at Elisa's life… Demona thought out with a sadistic grin. She nodded. That could do it for the pest.

And with that she went to work on her poisonous dart. Puck came to Demona's thoughts too that he could cure it but she shrugged it away. Puck wouldn't show himself and help anybody. He hadn't shown himself to Randall since his coming anyway, so Randall's pretty much screwed from there.

….

Out on the parapets of the Eyrie Building, Randall was breathing in the air and gazing at the view. The Labyrinth was cozy and sheltered but Randall preferred to have the night sky above his head. Brooklyn walked out to meet him.

Randall turned around to see his red friend. "Hi, Brooklyn," he greeted with a little smile, but sad since he also kept thinking about Delilah. Brooklyn noted his eyes.

"It's Delilah, isn't it? You miss her." Randall jerked a bit, shaking his head. "Wha? N-no. Like I said, just acquaintances. Good friends…" he stammered, though Brooklyn could see he was lying, smirking.

"I know that look all too well. But why not I give you a ride around the city then we can hang in the park again? There's this nice pond I want to show you. Sometimes me and my bros go swimming there." This made the lizard monster sigh, nodding. A night out with another male sounded good, to get the whole Delilah thing out of his mind. "Yeah, suppose it could be good for me," he said softly, getting onto Brooklyn's back and the two took off.

They glided around some of Brooklyn's favorite spots; Randall smiling from the wind. The two made it once more to the park, where Brooklyn led Randall to where he found the swimming hole with his brothers. It was a small but big enough pond. Randall smiled when seeing it, going for a closer look.

"Whoa, it really is nice. Thanks for bringin' me," he said, before suddenly he was shoved into the water playfully by Brooklyn, who by now had taken off his loincloth to go swimming. Randall pushed himself back to the surface, shaking his head. "Hey!" He shouted. Brook smirked. "Got ya!" He teased, before jumping in after, splashing Randall. The two friends gave a laugh, splashing and floating around in the water. It was a warm night in mid-August, so it was a perfect day for them, nobody noticing.

Red eyes peered out of the trees, a soft growl coming from a mysterious intruder at the sight of her target playing with Brooklyn in the water. Demona knew she had to wait for the right moment when Randall came out. She had no desire for Brooklyn, only Randall.

After a time, the two friends were exhausted, coming out of the water. Brooklyn brought towels and threw one to Randall. They dried themselves and Brooklyn had put on his loincloth when he smelled someone.

"Randall, someone's here, we'd better—."

"Ow!"

The red gargoyle turned in horror when Randall fell to his knees, a dart having been shot. Randall gritted his teeth in pain, pulling the dart out from his neck, which was silver. Demona chuckled softly before sneaking away, her deed done. She wouldn't dare reveal herself. Brooklyn helped his lizard friend to his feet, who felt a bit dizzy from the harsh shot.

"You alright?" Brook asked.

Randall swallowed, nodding. "Just a dart. But I'm not falling asleep," he said in confusion. Brooklyn sighed. "Well, nonetheless, we need to get back, and tell them what happened." Randall nodded wearily, climbing onto Brooklyn's back, wondering who would dart him in the first place.

….

Goliath knew it was past Brooklyn's curfew for leisure with Randall, narrowing his eyes out into the distance until he saw Brooklyn come with him. Brooklyn landed on his perch, helping Randall to the ground.

"Randall, what happened to you?" Goliath asked, seeing his puncture wound. Randall shook his head. "Nothing to be worried about. Some nut shot a dart at me but just a scratch." He muttered, holding the back of his neck, which was smarting.

Brooklyn though held him. "Come on, you're going to see the doctor. For all we know the dart would have carried something horrid in it." The lizard rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say," he grumbled, allowing Brooklyn to drag him to the infirmary. As they reached the place, Randall felt a small wave of nausea but ignored it while Sato looked him over.

"I'll want to take blood from you to see if the dart had anything," Sato explained but Randall's skin went white literally. No way! "Listen, stop this fussing, I'm fine. No need for my blood to be drawn, k?" Sato looked at Brooklyn, who said softly he would watch him and carry him right back if anything changed.

Brooklyn guided Randall to his room and set him into his bed. Randall wasn't feeling so hot right now, and he literally felt too hot. Randall moaned and wiped his head, afraid of what this possible poison would do. Brooklyn smiled, but it looked forced.

"Take it easy for today. The rest of us will come along soon, alright?" he asked his lizard friend. Randall just nodded tiredly, lying down into his pillow. All he wanted was to sleep. But when he was left alone, an hour later, his stomach began to churn, and his vision got silly.

He tossed around, groaning in pain. Randall's skin turned green-colored from the effect of the poison. Suddenly he heard a voice.

"I told you to watch your back, Lizard…"

Randall jerked around, eyes round. "What…? Who?" He croaked, sweat flooding down his face.

"How slow minded that you don't recognize my voice. I poisoned you with my special dart. It makes you sick, weak, and hallucinate. And this is one I tried to kill Elisa with years ago, though she survived. But not you. And a doctor won't save your hide from my special poison."

He knew then, coughing painfully and growling. "D-Demona… s-should've k-known…" he gasped, eyes dilating then slitting. Brooklyn and the others arrived on time to find their new member moaning, green-colored, shaking.

"Randall!" Brook exclaimed while Goliath was in shock. "What happened?" He demanded roughly. Randall looked weakly at him. "P-poison… D-Demona…" he whispered, holding his belly tight. Hudson narrowed his eyes. "I recognize this; Katherine's father had been struck with this same dart. But I wouldn't go to Demona to get the antidote. We need Sato."

"Ugh! No! Doctor… can't…. help… poison too… powerful…. magic… mixed in…"

"Hm… such a shame. And to tell you something else; you'll be dead in another couple days."

Randall bared his fangs. "Stop! Go away, Demona!" He screeched, waving his top arms around. Angela was worried. The poison her mother gave must be affecting Randall something bad if he was hallucinating about her. Hudson had Lex get a cold wet washcloth since he was burning up. Sato had looked at his blood and he confirmed it.

"I'm sorry to tell you this that this isn't any normal poison. I can't do anything," Sato said grimly, much to the clan's horror.

"How can we fix him? This is obviously not normal poison if he is hearing Demona," Brooklyn asked, seeing Randall shaking badly, Demona laughing in his ears.

Hudson then knew the only person who could. They couldn't wait to fix this. "I know one. Puck," he said grimly. Randall was puzzled. "P-Puck? T-the magic guy?" he asked in a weak voice. Brooklyn wasn't so pleased about it, hating to call Puck in situations like this. "You know how hard it is for us to trust him. What if he makes Randall worse?"

Lex then spoke. "Alex could help too since he has magic," he suggested. The others then agreed to this. Randall was scared at the idea of seeing an actual magical being in person, but knew it was better than suffering this poison. He nodded.

Goliath called Xanatos who brought in Owen. He had Baby Alex with him. Owen first gave Lex Alex before he approached. Randall was still in a terrible state; green and looking worse. He lay there weakly, whimpering when Demona mocked him in his head again.

"So, this is my new patient?" asked Owen. Xanatos nodded. "Demona's work. She shot Randall with a poison dart that none of our doctors can cure."

Owen furrowed his brow then turned into Puck. Randall pressed back into his sheets, eyes rounding at him. Puck had white hair as well as pointed ears and a sharp looking nose. Plus he was floating. Puck smiled at Randall.

"No need to be frightened of me, little lizard. I'm quite harmless now since my dear dad had revoked most of my magic way back when. But such an honor to finally reveal myself to you. But this will be my boy, Alex's time to shine. Had been teaching him how to heal magical poison. Lexington? The child please?"

Lexington handed him Alex. Alex cooed when seeing Randall. Randall wasn't sure. "F-Fox… she doesn't approve of me… near him…" he said croakily. Xanatos shook his head. "I'll speak with her later, Mr. Boggs." he assured.

Puck glanced at Alex. "Remember your training, my boy. This young lizard is very ill from magic." Alex cooed again, concentrating with his magic; placing his hand on Randall's neck where the dart was.

Randall cringed from it, looking away. Seeing magic for real felt too surreal for him. After a bit, the kid was done with his work. Randall waited, until eventually, his fever began to slow down. A little smile came, but he still felt weak and nauseous from leftovers.

"Th-thanks," he said to Puck hoarsely. Puck shrugged. "Don't thank me, thank the child here. But we were happy to help."

Elisa had entered when hearing the news from Xanatos, seeing Randall there, looking a bit better. She looked at Goliath in worry. "How is he?"

"They just healed the worst of it but we'll have to wait out the rest. It really drained him," Goliath said. "You can't leave for a couple days so stay in bed," he added, too. Randall frowned at this idea but had a thought.

"I-I just want to say… nobody ever really stuck their necks out for me in the past. But with you guys helpin' me like this, I-." Brooklyn grinned.

"We're buds, Randall. Practically family now. You helped us more times than we can count and now we felt we needed to return the favor."

This made Randall start to cry happy tears. Broadway went to get him some tea and soup. "Family… I haven't had that for a while." He said softly, resting back on his pillow. The clan remained with him until he had eaten and fallen asleep, knowing Randall needed company a lot.
