The moon shined brightly through the curtains, fog and gas filled Sucy's desk although she seemed completely unaware of it herself.

"Pass me that Fox wolfs nail and make sure you do it gently if even a little is broken off we'll get an entirely different potion." She tightened the goggles wrapped around her head "Alright slowly dip it into the tube,"

"This feels more like I'm just here to hand you stuff than learn how to make potions," Kenji sulked in his chair beginning to loosen his goggles being quickly stopped.

Even though she hadn't taken her eyes off of the task at hand it was very clear to Kenji that she was at least trying to stop him from burning out his eyes.

Keyword: trying

His nervous gaze that had been practically stuck on his face during the entire time he'd been handing out ingredients softened when he saw the determined look in Sucy's eyes.

"Well, I'll leave you to it then." Kenji said much calmer this time his eyes locking onto to what the mushroom obsessed witch was doing "Hey wait a minute what potion are we even making?"

Sucy finally took notice of the words that were being spoken to her, "Huh I thought I explained when I came to your room asking for help."

"You mean when I was still half asleep, I only knew what was going on when you threw a set of bottom-grade goggles at me!" Kenji fumed doing his best to keep his voice down despite the already loud bubbling come from the vials on the desk.

"Calling them bottom-grade is a bit far don't you think?" Sucy asked.

'Is...Is that all she's gonna say?'

Kenji stared at the witch expecting some form of a reply feeling his eyebrow twitch at the slight smirk forming on Sucy's face.

"Sorry I really do hate to be a bother but I can't help but feel that you're dodging the question now that wouldn't be true would it Sucy my dear potions teacher," The smugness on Kenji's face was enough for Sucy to throw the idea of speaking out the window.

There were only a couple seconds of awkward silence before she replied, "Really if you were paying attention, you'd see that I'm testing you to see if you can tell what potion I'm making so you should know if it's safe or not to drink," Sucy returned her own smugness handing the violet-coloured potion.

"N-Now Sucy you wouldn't be handing me a potion that could burn a hole through my stomach, would you?" Kenji stammering the potion being shoved into his hands much to his chagrin.

'For the love of say something women!'

Swallowing the lump in his throat, Kenji swirled the potion around in his hand his face stiffening as it began sizzling in the bottle, 'This is fine everything's fine'.

Kenji slightly cursed himself as he glanced over at the bunk bed behind him.

"Well let's just pray on your human decency Sucy," Kenji kneeled beside the snoring Akko slowly pouring the orange liquid into her mouth, surprisingly getting no reaction from the brunette.

'Huh this is a pretty easy way to test out potions- oh shit'

Hanging his head, he begrudgingly turned around to meet eyes with Sucy who had given her full attention to what was happening.

"Please...please for all things in this world don't tell me you've used Akko as a test subject before," Kenji rubbed his eyes in an attempt to ignore the self-satisfied smirk on Sucy's face "There was no point in me asking was there?!"

"No there really wasn't."

Sucy leaned her head on her hand slyly crossing her legs as the now ashamed brunette placed the empty potion bottle on the desk.

"Well, they do say the student learns from their master,"

"Heaven and hell would have to freeze over before I call you my master!" Kenji declared acting as if he was in court.

Stopping his words from going any further was a sudden rustling from the bottom bunk of the bed, "Uh no send the noise away go away," Akko groaned groggily her head dipping up and down from her pillow.

Her words were so sloshed together that the two had to take a second to comprehend what had just come out of her mouth, "Wait don't tell me it's because of the potion is she gonna have a speech impediment-"

An audible slap echoed through the room as Sucy tried to use a little strength as possible, "Calm down, look all that potion did was give her whiskers."

Following her gestures, Kenji glanced once more at the now snoring brunette taking notice of the long fox whiskers poking out of her cheeks, "Oh thank god I didn't don't have to account for that much!"

"Huh K-K-Kenji what are you doing in here!" Lotte shrieked waking up to the sight of Kenji smiling on his knees.

"Don't worry Lotte he's not some perv I needed him to help me with my potions he's been at the desk or not half the time I did kind of zone out," Sucy spoke up covering her fears.

"You were so close to actually performing a nice gesture Sucy but you just had to add in that last part didn't you," Kenji scowled lightly hitting her with the side of his hand.

Ignoring the usual banter between the two, Lotte moved down from the top of the bed to the floor checking the crystal ball on her desk, "Hey Lotte what is that?" Kenji questioned his tone immediately turning curious as he walked over.

"Oh, this is how we communicate to people other than letters at Luna Nova," Lotte explained placing the crystal ball in his hands.

Kenji stood in awe sliding through the different sights on the crystal, "Woah it's not as cool as my phone but still, Lotte can I borrow this at some point?" Kenji asked not taking his eyes off the crystal.

"You say you have a phone and yet your impressed by a crystal ball," Sucy snickered

"Well, I'm not the one who sleeps like a corpse,"

'Hah that's my win!'

Kenji: 1 Sucy: 0

Lotte intervened before the two could continue, "You two need to stop arguing all the time I never understand how you two can do this every day,"

"Wait is that the time already I need to get ready I was going to go out today," The ginger haired witch exclaimed darting away from her desk and heading for the wardrobes.

"U-um K-Kenji," Suddenly turning flustered Lotte hid her beet red face behind her clothes

'Why has she's gotten so flustered all of a sudd- ohhhhhhhhhhhh'

Quickly getting the message, Kenji waved goodbye leaving the room his loud footsteps being heard down the hall.

'Well today's gonna be a long boring day'

"I really hate myself right about now," Kenji deadpanned having a long distant stare in the office

"What was that Mr. Otsuka?" Professor Finnelan questioned seeming offended

"Nothing, nothing at all."

"It better be nothing, now onto the topic of why you're here as students of Luna Nova you should both be ashamed of yourselves," Professor Finnelan spat out glaring daggers at Kenji and the three girls in front of her.

Akko wasted no time intervening into the conversation proudly marching towards the teacher, "Look all we did was steal was a tart, and can you blame us there's only one food item in the whole school and after 3 weeks of having nothing but potatoes is too much!"

"Are we still having this argument, Akko there basically the same thing," Kenji sighed remembering the same argument they'd had days prior.

"No Mr. Otsuka if what Miss Kagari is saying is true than not only did you greedy kids eat a whole pie but you stole a whole tart which you should know cost 3 times as much!" Professor Badcock bellowed growing even angrier than before.

As the argument raged on, Kenji slowly walked over to Sucy who seemed completely uninterested in what was happening, "You know we really should have had the common sense to stop her,"

"Do you really think your words would have stopped her?"

"I don't know I can be incredibly persuasive if I want to be," Kenji joked stroking his hand through his hair earning a small laugh from the mauve haired girl.

"Enough out of both of you we don't need to go into detail over what was stolen it was the fact that you stole something that deserves a punishment," Professor Finnelan shut down the argument, "Now today the produce is being transported into the school all four of you will help in putting it away as well as taking supplementary lesson with Professor Ursula afterwards,"

'No please anything but that'

Back at home, the one thing Kenji would hate doing after school would be extra lesson with the teachers he'd got a detention from, he quickly bowed down in front of the teacher.

"Miss Finnelan if I'm being honest, you can make me do as much manual labour as you possibly want my weak scrawny arms need it but please if there's even a semblance of kindness in your body then please don't make me take any more lessons than I have to I beg of you!" Kenji begged his head pushing into the floor.

"I thought you were going to defend Akko or something but of course you're saving your own skin," Sucy sighed from behind them.

Lotte pushed past the grounded Kenji leaning over the desk with her hands together, "No please I'll do absolutely anything I'll wash the goblins toilets for a week if I have to but please I have to go into town today!"

"She's lost it," Sucy commented forcing Kenji to have to hold back a laugh

'Don't laugh don't you dare laugh Kenji Otsuka if you laugh then the witches win!'

"So pretty please let me go out today I'll take all the lessons you want to give me tomorrow!" Lotte pleaded in one last attempt to get out of it.

"Absolutely not you four are grounded for the rest of the weekend," Professor Finnelan stated the sound of Lotte's glasses cracking being heard.

'And that's this chapter folks buckle in and role that intro!'

"She hasn't moved in the last 10 minutes has she even blinked?" Kenji questioned crouching down beside the lifeless, dull white figure before him, "Alright I guess we burn all the books on Lotte's desk then."

"W-Wait Kenji please don't do that there my whole life!" Lotte exclaimed gripping onto his blazer collar for dear life.

"Oh, you got her back and we didn't even have to shoot a spell at her," Akko said impressed as Kenji quickly basked in the compliment.

Lotte seemingly pulled a poster sheet out from thin air shoving it in Akko's face, "Nightfall what's that?" Akko queried scanning her eyes over the poster.

Kenji met eyes with Sucy raising an eyebrow, "I've heard of it before," She blankly stated

He quickly snatched the poster from Akko's hands, "Huh this poster looks a lot like a book series back in my world it's really popular I think it's called Twilig-"

A sudden vibration from Kenji's pocket alerted the group, he quickly pulled out his phone excitedly answering it, "What who is this what are you talking about, what do you mean I can't talk about that book series, oh because certain people will riot, yeah this joke is a bit too meta usually we have a quick fourth wall break as a joke and then we go back to the story but this joke has gone a bit too far hasn't it yeah, I'll just end the call," Kenji hung up the phone getting a confused look from the girls.

"Kenji what was tha-"

"Akko some questions just need to go unanswered ok let's just get back to Lotte's problem, so what exactly is the problem here Lotte what's going on today?"

Kenji nonchalantly pulled out a packet of crisps sitting himself between the girls as Lotte went on a spiel about the Nightfall series, "Kenji stop hogging the crisps all to yourself gimme some!" Akko sulked ignoring his personal space leaning over his entire body in an attempt to grab the crisps.

'A-ah something soft is touching my arm!'

"A-Alright I g-get it you can have s-some crisps just get o-off me," Kenji stammered his face now burning crimson.

"Wow Kenji can't handle a girl near you do you even know what school we're in?" Sucy mocked keeping quiet when she saw the annoyed glint in his eyes.

'You win this round Sucy'

Kenji: 1 Sucy: 1

A depressing aura filled the area as the group brought their attention back to Lotte, "-And I'm the only one who can't go," She muttered her voice dry and cold.

"Judging by that whole speech she just gave I'm guessing going to that book signing meant a lot to her," Sucy brought up

"Yeah, I can't help but feel bad," Akko added

Kenji did a double take when he heard Akko acting as if she was looking at the situation from the outside, "Akko did you actually forget that it's your fault that she can't go?"

"Huh what do you mean it's not like I cancelled the signing or anything," Akko argued tilting her head.

'Dammit of course a weebs main weakness a cute airheaded girl!' Kenji gritted his teeth holding onto his will.

"I think Kenji's referring to the fact that if you didn't steal that tart Lotte would still be able to go into town," Sucy clarified the brunette beginning to pout in response.

Holding up his fingers, Kenji counted down from five smirking at Sucy, "Hey I've got an idea!" Akko exclaimed just as his finger reached one.

Kenji grunted in exhaustion as he dropped the final sack of potatoes in the warehouse, "Yeah maybe asking for any kind of manual labour was a bit of a stretch,"

"Kenji stop mumbling to yourself and get on!" Akko called him over hiding in the back of the truck.

'I swear I've gotten more exercise in the past 3 weeks then I have in my entire 16 years alive'

Breaking off into a sprint, Kenji grabbed onto the open flapping door of the truck, being pulled in by both Akko and Sucy.

"That was close," Finally taking a moment to breath the group slumped onto the floor of the truck in relief, "I'll give you credit Akko this wasn't a bad plan," Kenji complimented being quickly cut off by Sucy.

"Yeah, but we wouldn't have to do any of this if Akko could've just eaten potatoes for one more day,"

"Oh, guys I just remembered were going to miss Professor Ursula's supplementary class," Akko said immediately feeling guilty.

Lotte placed her hand on her shoulder a look of determination in her eyes, "Akko you can't make a few omelettes without breaking a few eggs."

"I mean you could've just said sometimes sacrifices have to be made but well said Lotte," Kenji said giving her a thumbs up.

"Yeah, what Kenji said," Sucy agreed

Akko admitted defeat wearing a sheepish smile, "Well I guess she'll be fine."

After an hour or two, Kenji was crouched down in the truck struggling to wake up a snoring Akko, "Akko wake up c'mon were almost there, Sucy give me a hand here please," Kenji pleaded on the brink of tears.

In an instant, Sucy brought her hand down on Akko's face with a loud slap ringing through everyone's ears, "A-Ah no please Chariot I'm sorry!" Akko howled a distraught look across her face as she snapped awake.

"Sucy that's not what I meant!"

"Eh you should've been more specific."

"Woah Lotte is that the costume you're wearing you look super cute!" Akko grinned seemingly forgetting the red mark on her cheek.

"W-wait but how did you get changed with Kenji in here?" She questioned stopping herself from talking when she saw the traumatized look across Kenji's face.

"S-so Kenji what did you d-"

"Look Akko let's just say I got thrown out the end of the truck okay now let's go!" Kenji interrupted the brunette angrily kicking open the trucks backdoor.

Everyone split off into two groups, "So why exactly are we only going a little on brooms?" Kenji queried making sure he was only holding onto Sucy's shoulders.

"Don't you remember the sorcerer's stone doesn't reach out to town so there's no magic to travel on our brooms," Sucy explained landing the broom in the streets, "Alright were here try not to get lost Kenji,"

"Who do you take me for I've never shown that I get lost once!"

Kenji finally took the time to glance around the streets seeing them packed with cosplayers, venders and stalls, "Oh so you just want to come to a book convention Lotte don't these happen often?"

"W-well yeah but this is the only time that I'll ever get to see Annabel after all of the book releases," Lotte said sheepishly staring in awe at a figure in a clocktower cosplay.

'I really should have realized this was just a convention I'd rather have done the lessons to be honest'

"Hey Kenji's are you alright you look really bored are these not you thing?" Akko brought Kenji out of his train of thought by poking her finger into his cheeks.

"Huh what oh Akko, I guess I'm more a person who enjoys talking with the things I like with people online or with my friends I don't know conventions or comic con have just never been interesting to me," Kenji explained putting his hands into his pocket.

In the spur of the moment, Akko wrapped her arm round Kenji's dragging him down the street, "Hey A-Akko what a-are you doing what did I say about personal space!" The brown-haired teen argued pulling against the brunette.

"Oh, c'mon Kenji stop being a stick in the mud I'm going to make it my goal today to make sure you have fun!" Akko exclaimed bringing him over to a vending stall.

"Lotte, Sucy we'll meet you two inside that building over there!" Akko called out to the two who were beginning to look for them.

"Hey wait Akko I never said I wasn't having fun I just said I don't like these kinds of things!"

"C'mon Sucy we need to get moving or else there won't be any more seats!" Lotte whined pulling her along up the stairs.

"Alright Lotte I'm coming don't rush me," Sucy said still concerned about the situation

Kenji struggled in vain against Akko's strangely tight grip around his arm, "No wait Sucy please don't leave me let me come with you!"

"Have fun on your date Kenji~" Sucy cooed giving a sly wave walking away

'Dammit!'

Kenji: 1 Sucy: 2

'I don't know what yet but I'm going to get my payback on you Sucy!'

'How much more food am I gonna have to eat'

Akko shoved another crepe in Kenji's face a wide grin across her face as she did, "C'mon Kenji we're supposed to be having fun stop sulking," The brunette pouted quickly losing interest, "Oh look there's a game stand over there."

Games were always something Kenji had clung to back home; it wasn't as if it was his only outlet, he had a large group of friends and would even dare argue that he was popular but they were more of something that Kenji could do whenever he wanted, they were a safe space for him.

So, to see one standing right in front of him.

'Oh, I'm gonna destroy this game!'

This time taking the lead, Kenji happily strode over to the stall quickly understanding what kind of game it was picking up the toy gun.

"Alright Akko you said to have fun so let's make this a competition," Kenji grinned handing her a gun

"Ok but what are we competing for?" She questioned snatching the gun

Kenji paused for a minute before a slightly evil grin grew across his face, "You have to give me the last share of the tart you've got hidden under you bed,"

Akko instantly stiffened her eyes beginning to fill with resolve as she prepared herself to fire, "There's no way you're getting my tart!" The vendor started the game up as she fired.

"Wow I don't think I've ever seen someone fail so bad at a shooting range," Kenji mocked dragging a sobbing Akko down the street.

"Please don't eat my tart I was saving that for my midnight snack tonight," Akko begged droopily hanging her arms in distress looking up to Kenji with puppy dog eyes.

'Gah don't look at me like that I feel like she's doing it on purpose'

Kenji sighed in defeat glancing around for a stall, "Uh fine, tell you what if you just by me a drink then we can call it even alright," He suggested gesturing over to the milkshake stand opposite them.

Taking her opportunity to avoid giving away her tart, Akko beelined towards the stand slamming her coins on the stall, "You know I didn't say you had to do it within a time limit I'm pretty sure you scared that vendor to death," Kenji chuckled anxiously glancing at the hyperventilating salesman.

"Hey don't judge my craft I was just thirsty that's all," Akko explained a tint of red across her face

'So, I was right on the money then huh'

"If you this scatterbrain Akko I seriously question what Shiny Chariot's like," Kenji quipped taking a long sip from his drink watching the brunette puff her cheeks out in frustration.

"Hey what's that supposed to mean I'll have you know Chariot was an incredible witch!" Akko argued her face getting absurdly close to Kenji's.

"A-Akko ok I get it you admire h-her and all b-but your too close!" With a blush on his face Kenji backed up to the end of the bench he was sitting on.

Akko narrowed her eyes continuing to get closer to him, "What are you trying to say though Kenji that if Shiny Chariot's a bad witch, then that makes me a bad witch?" She interrogated gripping onto his blazar.

'Ok this is starting to veer off from what I said'

Realizing what she'd just said Akko stopped herself from talking crouching down on the other side of the bench.

"Akko are you... are you afraid that you're not gonna live up to who Shiny Chariot was?"

"N-no well maybe it's just that after getting in trouble today and after 3 weeks I've made barely any improvements in my magic I didn't even win the broom race I'm just thinking what if I never become a good witch,"

Akko finished her hands gripping her skirt tightly, "Well that's a load of shit you've just spouted out," Kenji spoke up his hands above his head.

"W-what your so mean Kenji I'm telling you my problems here and all you can do is make fun of me!" Akko pouted angrily punching him in the side.

"There's no problem though is there Akko; you say that you think you'll never be like Chariot and just be stuck never being good at magic but from where I'm sitting that really isn't a problem," Kenji explained while the brunette's eyes widened in response.

Kenji stood up from the bench his hands on his hips, "I really shouldn't be the one giving mature advice considering my personality, but wanting to be like your idol isn't a bad thing Akko it can be a good motivator but getting fixated on that idea of being just like them can hold you down,"

"But-"

Cutting in again the brown-haired teen continued, "Also your full of it saying you not improving the first week I came here I saw you throwing explosions around with your wand but now you can actually somewhat turn yourself into a rabbit,"

The two began laughing at his comment, "I think all you need to really do Akko is take your time which is ironic considering I sure am taking my time getting home," Kenji joked scratching his nose in slight embarrassment.

Akko was sat speechless at the nonchalant attitude of the whole situation, "You're a real dork you know that Kenji?" Akko giggled kicking her legs up a down throwing herself off the bench.

"W-What now who's the one being mean I give you advice and this is how you treat me!" Kenji barked like a dog pulling at Akko's cheeks in anger.

"Kwenwji swop pwulling on my chweeks."

Once he had finally let go, Akko slyly hitting him with the side of his palm quickly sprinting down the street.

'Seriously this girl' Kenji couldn't help but smile as he chased after her.

Kenji and Akko finally arrived inside the building, they were shocked to learn that Lotte had made it into the final two of the quiz.

"How do you even know the answer to questions like that, I've read books before but if someone asked me the address of a character's house I'd never remember," Kenji said impressed sitting himself next to Sucy.

"Well, that's because you probably forget your own name sometimes," Sucy teased snickering to herself.

'Does... does she know about this challenge I've thought up and she's doing whatever she can to beat me!'

Kenji: 1 Sucy: 3

Sucy smiled as she watched Kenji's anxious expression at the comment, before turning his attention to the stage watching the final quiz take place, "I can't believe Lotte made it this far,"

"Really did you not see how much of a fangirl she was?" Sucy asked rhetorically

Humming in response he didn't take his eyes off the stage, leaning off the edge of his seat as the scores got tighter and tighter.

Soon enough, the scores were both tied as the announcer asked the final question, "What is the most prominent flower next to summerset bakery?"

'What kind of question is that!'

"Oh no I don't think Lotte knows this one," Akko anxiously bit on her nails

Everyone watched in suspense as Lotte slowly looked around the room glancing at the phone in Annabel's hands, "I know it it's hydrangeas!" Lotte called out slamming her palm on the buzzer.

"THAT'S CORRECT!" The announcer yelled out as the crowd went wild

Kenji, Akko and Sucy watched in confusion as the presumable author Annabel finally left the chair she'd been sitting on since they'd both arrived. She walked over to Lotte handing her what looked like a pen before saying a few words disappearing into thin air.

"What just happened!" Akko exclaimed jumping out of her seat rushing back stage

"Hey Akko wait up!" Kenji called as he and Sucy darted after the brunette

Once they'd all made it backstage, they found Lotte standing in a confused state, "Lotte are you ok what happened back there?" Akko was the first to speak snapping the ginger out of her thoughts.

"Well, it's just Annabel disappeared right after saying that I was the new 13th author of Nightfall," Lotte explained holding out the pen to the group.

'So, the Nightfall series is just a bunch of fans writing fanfiction...interesting'

"So, I take it were gonna go looking for her then?" Sucy queried dryly

The group darted off first heading for the nearest alley behind the building, "Annabel are you in here?" Holding her nose Akko glanced around inside the bin.

"Ooh a mushroom."

"Sucy now is not the time!" Kenji snarled sticking his head out of a bin

They soon brought their search out towards the streets, "Annabel come on stop hiding it's very inconvenient for us!" Kenji called out checking inside a phone box, "Nope she's not in here."

"Another mushroom," Sucy murmured to herself searching through a bush

"Sucy c'mon this is serious- Oh I swear that's the one you used to make that fog potion before don't you have to peel the stalk off?" Kenji questioned immediately losing interest on the current situation.

"Huh Kenji you're doing it too!"

"Hey wait Lotte why exactly do you want to talk to Annabel I don't really understand all she said was that you were the new author of Nightfall what's wrong with that?" Kenji questioned tilting his head

"Yeah, Lotte why wouldn't you want to write the next volumes of your favourite book series!" Akko exclaimed her hands flailing about.

"But I don't want to be like Annabel, I'm not like you Akko you idolize and want to be like Chariot but I only idolize Annabel because I'm the kind of person who likes cheering people on," Lotte explained getting a quick understand from Kenji.

"It's like I told you before Akko idolising someone doesn't mean you have to be like that it can just be a means to push you forward or others forward," Kenji added.

Sucy snickered to herself before opening her mouth, "I'm surprised something so mature just came from you Kenji,"

"Hey come on Sucy we were all having a nice moment here!" Kenji huffed in slight embarrassment copying Akko by stomping his foot.

Lotte suddenly began whispering to pen Annabel had given her as a spirit appeared speaking to her, "Alright I think I know where Annabel is!"

Sitting in the field alone Annabel scrolled through the comments on her phone.

"There's so many bad reviews I've forgotten when I last saw a good, I guess I should head home-"

The sudden sound of rustling jerked the blonde forward as she glanced behind her seeing for figures crouched down.

"Ah wait if here to return the pen, then I refuse you're the new author of Nightfall Annabel!" Crawling back Annabel refused the idea.

"But if you were chosen before than that must mean you have a talent for writing," Lotte said smiling holding the pen out to her.

"Trust me I'm not have you seen the reviews everyone hates my newest instalment of Nightfall," She rebottled showing her phone.

"Oh, shove off!" Kenji intervened steam leaving his nose

"Using you reviews as an excuse is poor at lazy at best in my opinion if it's coherent and makes sense and the author enjoys what theirs writing than there's no problem!"

"Yeah, Kenji's right even if Arthur going to space was a bit of a weird development after I looked into it, it actually makes a lot of sense," Lotte explained once again.

Annabel still seemed unsure hanging her head in shame, "But that's just your opinion I face lots of criticism for writing the things I thought were interesting but everyone just told me to stop writing"

"All of it was amazing the prison chapter and everything else I loved it and if a select few don't then there just crazy!" Lotte exclaimed putting the pen in Annabel's hand.

Kenji casually walked over to the two lightly thwacking the side of his hand across Annabel's head, "Facing criticism is something for any author, you could write the perfect book series and there'd still be someone who's not satisfied at the end of the day if you're getting joy from writing than it's something you shouldn't stop,"

Giving a big grin Kenji accidently began rustling Annabel's hair, "H-Hey what do you think you're doing!" She quickly shook his hand off.

"Ah sorry I usually do that with my little sister when she's upset so it's a force of habit," Kenji apologized stepping away from the two.

"You have a little sister Kenji?" Akko questioned

"Oh yeah I never did mention that I'll show you a picture when we get back."

Kenji sat himself next to Akko and Sucy watching as the two began talking the day away, usually it would bore him having to wait this long.

But for once he found himself feeling relieved.

As the sun began to set, Annabel sat up with a new spring in her step writing out the words in the air creating a spiral of them forming up into the sky.

"Well, we should probably get going huh?" Sucy suggested grabbing her broom

Lotte ran over to the group agreeing with them as they all headed over to the ley line.

"Akko your being stupid there's no way," Kenji deadpanned trying not to fall of the broom

"I'm telling you I saw someone in costume going through the ley line they must be a student at Luna Nova to,"

"I feel bad for them having to go to same school as Akko," Sucy murmured her comment only being heard by Sucy forcing him to hold in a laugh.

"Sucy I hate to admit it but you one the match today," Kenji sighed holding out his hand in defeat

"What are you talking abo-"

"Just take my hand and shake it this hard enough on my pride!" Sucy grinned in response proudly shaking this hands leaving a few despairing comments.

Once they arrived at Luna Nova their eyes sank as they saw Professor Finnelan and Ursula waiting for them.

'Note on Hannah and Barbara: Bunch of snitches'

Kenji had to hold in his vomit as the stench of troll grime entered his nostrils, "I can hardly appreciate the handshake Annabel gave me when it's covered in all this," Akko grimaced wiping down the bath.

"I thought you didn't even like Nightfall," Sucy brought up

"Well after today I think I'm a newly converted fan I might start reading the books what about you Kenji?"

"No thanks the only kind of books I read are Manga and Light Novels," Kenji replied sloppily wiping down the side of the bath.

"What are those?" The three girls questioned in unison

"Oh, your poor, poor world to be without Manga," Kenji looked at them with pity filling his eyes

"Today was really great you know, I got to meet some really great people," Akko spoke up a sigh from Sucy being heard in the background.

"Do you mean Annabel?" Lotte asked

"No, you Lotte, your so much different from how I idolize Chariot so I just thought it was cool that you just want to cheer on the people you idolize, hey I guess you were cool today as well Kenji," The brunette explained.

"Eh oh yeah sure I can be very wise when I want to be,"

Sucy and Lotte watched in confusion completely unaware of what they were talking about.

The group ended up cleaning long into the night their exhaustion hitting them before they could even get to bed.

'Ah this is the life of a student at Luna Nova'

Afterword

I hope you enjoyed this story, it's somewhat grown a following not that I'm saying it's huge once I get into Archive of our own I'll cross-post it on there, I'm also glad that slowly each chapter is longer than the last.

I used this chapter as a way to develop Akko and Kenji's dynamic while giving her some more character, as well as giving Lotte her development.

Anyway, I'll see you in the next chapter.
