Kenji hummed to himself swaying back and forth on his feet, he was more fixated on the side-scrolling game on his phone. He could hear Miss Finnelan's voice going in one of his ears and out the other, switching to his camera he smiled affectionately at the family photo he'd swiped to.

"Mr. Otsuka are you paying attention you of all people should be listening!" Miss Finnelan snapped him from his delusions causing him to become jittery.

"U-Uh y-yeah I was hanging onto every word!" He exclaimed a weak smile on his face, "..Alright no I wasn't listening.."

"Honestly, sometimes I wonder why we let you into this school.."

"Because of my sparkling personality!"

"Trust me that's not it," Finnelan said dryly rolling her eyes in annoyance.

Akko whipped her face in front of Kenji's wearing a cocky grin, "Wow Kenji! Getting into trouble before we've even left impressive," She grinned raising her. eyebrows repeatedly.

Kenji shoved her face from out of his personal space turning to both Sucy and Lotte, "..Y-Yeah sure thanks Akko, you two going to comment on this?"

"I stopped trying after the fourth or fifth time," Lotte admitted shyly.

"And I was never trying.." Sucy dryly responded.

"Stop talking about boring stuff guys, c'mon let's talk about what we're going to do when we get to town!" Akko exclaimed stars practically bursting from her eyes.

"Well, I actually wanted to head to a shop about familiars-"

Akko cut him off already in a daydream of her own, "We can eat pies, cake and so many parfaits!"

'That's literally all just food..'

"Atsuko!" Finnelan scolded jolting her up from fear.

As the teacher began to drone on and on about having proper etiquette and something to do with Luna Nova, Kenji veered over once again his eyes trailing over to Akko's, once they met, they immediately darted their faces away from each other.

Sucy dropped her eyebrows in frustration, 'They've been like this last week..'

Suddenly, the headmistress levitated down on her broom cutting Miss Finnelan off, "Don't be so serious, look at all of these students there supposed to be going on a trip but they look as depressed as anything.." She sighed gesturing to the depressed looking students.

"Now students do you all have your amulets?" Miss Finnelan added skidding in front of her.

Most of the class hummed as an answer displaying their amulets in their hands, Lotte held out one of her Nightfall books, Sucy enthusiastically brandished a mushroom from her pocket.

Kenji wore a sheepish smirk as he held out his hoodie.

"Mr. Otsuka is that a jacket you're putting in?" Finnelan raised an eyebrow, "This is for travelling to and from Luna Nova so it needs to be important.."

Kenji gasped sarcastically hugging his hoodie, "This is my favourite hoodie, I was lucky enough to get sent here with so it's more important to me than most things in my life!"

"That's kind of sad you do know that right?" Sucy mocked smiling at him.

"I'm aware...but you're the one holding a mushroom," He deadpanned at her.

"Fair point."

Looking around frantically, Akko rummaged through her pockets balling up food crumbs in her hand holding them out, "Here's mine!" Kenji went to chop her around the head stopping himself just before he could.

"Don't worry I'm on airhead duty this week.." Kenji sighed pulling something from the inside of his blazar, "You left this in your room, I guess you were too busy looking at its last night.."

Akko's Shiny Chariot card was in his hand, in the blink of an eye it was snatched from him, "I knew I felt incomplete this morning welcome back...wait Kenji you're not insinuating that I have to.."

"Put it in the cauldron Akko.." Kenji said once again this time much more seriously.

"Yes, these are all perfect, the more important your amulet is to you the greater the return spell, it's like my staff!"

"That's one bomb look staff where'd you get it?"

"Oh, this was given to me a long time ago.." Miss Holbrooke replied a now solemn look on her face.

"Look at that Kenji you've managed to depress the teacher.." Sucy spoke up.

"Shut up all I did was ask a simple question...well are we gonna get going?" Kenji veered the conversation off chucking his hoodie into the cauldron, "Wait it won't burn this will it?"

"..Um probably not," Lotte shrugged her shoulders.

"Let's go trust me I know a shortcut," Sucy said confidently leading the charge for once.

"Sucy...I hate you truly I do," Kenji sighed pushing on the brim of his nose, "Why the fuck are we in a graveyard!"

"Yeah, I'm with Kenji on this...why didn't you see this coming?" She pointed at him aggressively a pouty look on her face.

Kenji returned the annoyed gaze holding his hands up above his head, he opened his mouth to say something snippy back to the brunette, "..You know what after everything that's happened, we honestly should've just let Lotte take us there..."

Akko nodded alongside him snickering slightly soon followed by Kenji. They erupted into laughter ignoring the questionable look Lotte was giving him, they caught the snarling glance for Sucy.

"Well..." She stated loudly interrupting both of them, "..Graveyards are the only places that these kinds of mushrooms grow!"

Crouching beside a gravestone, Sucy plucked a skeleton printed mushroom from the ground holding it close to her face, "Sucy...I'm not gonna lie I like horror movies as much as the next guy, but that's because there was no chance of it happening in my world but here...t-there might actually be ghosts," Kenji trembled in his place brushing it off.

Akko yelped at the mention of ghosts jumping at Lotte causing them to fall over to gravestones, "I'm...just gonna go have fun with being cursed guys-"

"No Kenji! If we have to be cursed then you'll take the blame with us!"

'I think I've had enough of taking your problems this week'

Akko's expression turned guilty at that loosening her grip on his shirt, "S-Sorry.."

Sucy having enough of watching this pulled Lotte aside, "Alright Lotte spill you've been avoiding me when I ask but why are those two acting so weird around each other, they've been like this you all went to that archive!" She snapped dryly.

"Look I really don't care it's just very annoying seeing them twiddling their thumbs around each other.."

"W-Well...at the archives we got sucked into a book and Kenji found out that Akko hid a page from him that could've helped him get home...and I'm not sure Kenji's gotten over it yet.." Lotte blurted out to her.

"Alright, I thought one of them had confessed to each other or something, they'll probably get over it if they don't, I'll just put a potion down their gullets.."

"Sucy that's really threatening."

"It's supposed to be."

Akko's eyes bulged open in realization, "O-Oh I know," She pulled on hourglass like potion, "We can just fix these gravestones and get going with this repair potion Miss Ursula gave me!"

"Akko do you choose to just not listen to the rules, magics illegal outside of school grounds besides all of today's recent shenanigans has given me the worries that another misadventure is afoot.."

She brushed them aside twirling on her foot sprinkling the sand over the gravestones. In the process she bumped the mushroom in Sucy's hand onto the dust, a green puff of smoke enveloped the two.

"What did you do Sucy!?" Akko shrieked jumping into Lotte's arms.

"Actually, that was you.." She responded.

'Isn't it always..'

A skeletal arm poked out from the ground grabbing at Kenji's ankle, 'What...the...fuck'

"SHIIIIITTTTTTTTTTT!" Kenji screamed out loud kicking ferociously at the hand eventually pulling a larger weight up into the air.

"ahhhhhhhh.." Sucy yelled with as little emotion as possible.

Reaching for the crystal wrapped around his neck, Kenji held it out much like a cross, "C'mon magic work, shoot out you did it before don't pull this anime shit with me I don't wanna die from a curse!"

"A curse!" The skeletal man suddenly spoke twisting his head back around pushing back in his exposed brain, "Impossible if this was a curse would I be able to move like this?"

He performed a small dance jerking his whole body around, Kenji's face turned green at the sight of the skeletons exposed organs.

"Now as you all seem to be witches, I need you to help me find a man, I won't stop until I capture him!"

"Who are you?" Sucy questioned blankly.

"Me..." The man paused scratching his skull, "Well I can't seem to recall my name.."

Finally finished throwing up aside a nearby tree, Kenji hobbled over back to the group kicking up a nearby hat, 'Oh a ha-' A sword sliced through the air cutting the tombstone right beside him.

"Ah my hat thanks you for finding it for me, now as I've demonstrated what I'll do once I find that man it's time to seek vengeance!" He declared sprinting out of the graveyard.

"Anyone care to explain where he's going on about exactly?" Kenji queried getting the same confused looks from Akko and Lotte.

"I don't know...should we really do anything let's just let it work itself out.." Sucy spoke up getting a shocked look from the girls, "Don't look at me like that, if the spell mixed with that mushroom, then it'll wear off by sunset.."

"Oh...usually Sucy's laziness is something to be scoffed at but honestly how much harm can he...do," Akko's eyes darted to the tombstone that had previously been cut in two.

"Yep, let's go before he kills someone," Kenji declared.

"If someone from school sees him, we could be in a lot of trouble, I mean what's the punishment for resurrecting the dead again?"

"Can't believe that's a punishment you have to worry about here.." Kenji quipped.

"It's the worst kind of pain imaginable, you'll be tortured for weeks before you're even close to death!" Sucy grinned devilishly baring her sharp fangs.

Akko's face whitened leaving a dust cloud behind her darting off.

The skeleton was running amuck through the town, market places had been turned upside down while a scuffle was taking place at the end of it, "This is bad...he's already beating up other people!" Kenji yelled pulling at his hair in anger.

"Yeah, if he keeps it up someone from Luna Nova will see us!" Akko said anxiously about to run off before slipping on a loose stone tile.

'Watch it...'

Catching her just before she could fall Kenji pulled her back up onto her foot, "Yeah, Akko now's not the time for one of your clumsy falls that somehow lead to the next scene.."

Akko quirked an eyebrow still muddled by what he'd said, "I really don't get what you say sometimes Kenji.." She chuckled dryly.

He snapped his fingers in response pointing at her, "That's the Kenji way.."

The brunette smiled slightly before turning back to the skeleton, "W-We should get going.."

The skeleton man had already leaped up from the dust cloud he'd created yet again, he extended his arms out towards a small child sitting vacantly on a tricycle. Akko and Lotte spurred up from where they grabbing the kid.

"Hey what are you doing, you're just reaching for random people you don't know who you're looking for!" Akku accused poking his nose.

"Of course, I know who he is...wait could that be him!?"

Suddenly reaching for his jaw, Akko spun his head around her crimson eyes glaring back at him, "What're you trying to kill me!"

"You're already dead! Now do us a favour, I brought you back from the dead so stop acting crazy!" Akko yelled now having caught the attention of a large crowd.

Sucy tried to hold back the smirk that was pulling on her face, "What do we do now?" She queried.

Kenji jumped into an action skidding across the concrete performing jazz hands in front of the skeleton, "WELCOME! This is our performance of the dancing skeleton!"

Surprisingly, the skeleton hopped up from the ground his legs and arms performing near perfect dance movements. Kenji quickly followed after him, they were in almost synchronized dance moves the crowd loving every second of what they were watching.

Grinning to herself, Sucy picked the skeletal man's hat up from the ground using it to collect money the crowd was practically throwing out to them, "That was amazing Kenji when did you learn to dance like that!?" Akko exclaimed.

"I don't know...usually I just dance in the mirror by myself so I guess I didn't know if I was good or not.."

"Well, I'd say it's pretty good you should dance more often," Akko grinned patting him on the back.

Kenji sheepishly scratched his cheek his face flushed slightly, "T-Thanks."

"Wait where's Sucy and the skeleton guy!?" Lotte exclaimed.

Soon enough, they found themselves sprinting down the streets eventually making it to an old looking bar, "Eh Sucy your drinking? At your age!" Kenji said sarcastically watching her grin back at him.

"Won't be saying that once I tell you that I found the guy.." She gestured to the skeleton chugging on...what looked like ketchup.

"That's just wrong...and wasteful c'mon the ketchups not even going anywhere.." Kenji groaned taking it out from his hands.

"Yeah, you can't just run of like that either Sucy!" Akko stomped her foot in vexation.

"Sorry but it turns out gramps here's pretty hilarious," Sucy grinned turning back to the skeleton, "Did you remember anything yet?"

"So wasteful..." Kenji repeated once again grimacing at the empty bottle of ketchup.

Akko tugged back on his collar pulling him up to his feet, "Kenji focus.."

The skeleton man took his head from his neck shaking it about violently, the people around them yelled out from fear, "Don't worry...I doused all of their drinks they'll forget everything in a couple of hours.." Sucy corrected showing off one of her sleeping potions.

"Heyyyyy!" Kenji snapped, "You said you didn't know how to make a sleeping potion you lied to me!"

"I've lied to you six times today, Kenji.." Sucy said dryly.

"Wait...you have?"

"Make that seven.."

"That's it three Gallivan street!" The Skeleton suddenly announced connecting his head back onto his body running out of the building, he was stopped by Akko for a split second before his hand was ripped from its socket becoming loose.

"After him!" Kenji ordered watching the loose skeleton hand point forward.

The group all darted out from the pub running down the street watching the skeleton flail about in a furious frenzy, "I swear to god, that when I get back home, I'll be able to run circles round the top sprinter!"

"Hey old guy stop!" Akko shouted jumping forward.

"Akko wait stop!" Lotte warned.

Before she could move, a car sped out of nowhere showing no sign of stopping, "Look out!" The skeleton man jumped back pushing Akko out of the way green liquid spraying from his body over her.

'That's disgusting...'

"You alright Akko, I'd help you up but if I'm being honest, I don't want to touch you..."

"Geez tell me how you really feel Kenji," Akko mumbled picking herself up from the ground.

The skeleton began to reform itself on the ground picking up its slumped over limbs, it was quickly back together stumbling about without its head.

"Don't lose your head.." Kenji dryly chuckled under his breath hand the skeleton his head.

"Much obliged young wizard, funny I've never seen one like you before most witches are the pride of mankind so to see a wizard such as yourself is quite rare.."

Kenji jumped out in front of him flailing his hands about, "Woah, woah slow it down I've got two questions, how did you know I'm a 'wizard'" He air quoted showing his sarcasm, "And what do you mean they're rare, not impossible?"

The man fumbled with his suit holding his head in frustration, "Look, I don't have time to explain I have to make it to Gallivan street!"

"He's relentless.." Akko sighed running back after them.

Now outside the Magic Item Cafe, Akko and Lotte dragged the skeleton back into it, "C'mon this is where the old man told us to go stop being so stubborn.." Akko grunted shoving him into the store.

"Why exactly are we here it just looks like a worse version of hot topic.." Sucy murmured somewhat annoyed.

"Don't go talking about my store like that, that building was from the magic golden age so we had to buy it out!" The store clerk butted in leaning over his counter.

"What's the magic golden age?" Both Akko and Kenji asked at the same time.

Lotte frowned at that.

"You've never heard of it?" The store clerk poured a droplet onto the map in front of him materializing it, "Back when witches were hunted,;o they were just as praised as no one really had anything else to rely on.."

"Huh...I seriously would've thought that witch hunts would've been more popular back then.." Kenji scratched his head getting disgusted looks from the girls, "..What?"

"You're weird Kenji," Sucy said sadly.

"N-No that's not what I was thinking of, back home people would kill people back in the day claiming they were witches!" He argued embarrassingly.

"I need to ask...are any of you going to buy that relic suit?"

At the back of the store, the skeleton man was rummaging around in the back he stopped once he'd pulled out an old portrait, "Here it is!"

The portrait had a blonde man at the front alongside a green-haired women, they were both holding a baby together.

'Huh the women kind of looks like-'

As the skeleton began to explain the family's life, Kenji fixated his eyes on the portrait about to speak up before a bull chimed over his voice.

"There it is! That bell that was when that coward was supposed to...I can't remember!"

Yet again, he darted out from the store with Kenji not too far behind him, "That bell I have to find it!" The old man declared.

"Why..!?" Akko yelled becoming exhausted.

"Once he sent her to school, he never saw her again he didn't even try that why I'll never forgive him!" He bellowed sprinting up the clocktower stairs, "Because he was supposed to meet Miranda there! But afterwards he left her all alone!"

"Dude...please just stop running I know we're getting closer but what're we looking for.." Kenji huffed letting the air breeze threw his hair slumping over the clocktower railing.

"Woah, this view is really something!" Akko gleaming a toothy grin on her face her tied up her coming loose, "Makes you think about all the little things,"

"Listen Akko...about what happened last week let's just-"

The sound of a bell interrupted them, the skeleton man banged his head against it, "This sound! I remember now!"

'Dammit...guess the story hasn't resolved itself yet'

Akko waited for Kenji to finish, sulking when he sheepishly strolled past her helping the skeleton up, "You two really should just talk it out.." Sucy dryly spoke up from beside her.

"I want to...it's just I don't want Kenji to hate me what I did was really bad and we haven't been able to have a proper conversation he's mainly been hanging out with Diana.." Akko face quickly turned pouty.

"Jealous much...just talk out your problems no need to make a big fuss of it."

"Stop hitting your head...what do you remember?" Kenji pulled him up.

"That deceitful coward who abandoned everything...it was me!" He fell to his knees now incredibly depressed.

"WHAT!?" Kenji exclaimed.

"Miranda was my own daughter she'd come here to play...she loved that bell so much so I gave her the handle as a gift to never forget her home," He explained.

"That's it! I knew your wife looked familiar it's Miss Holbrooke our headmistress!" Kenji expressed a understanding smile on his face.

"You know Miranda!? Please take me to her!" He yelled grabbing onto his shoulder.

"U-Um...Akko?"

"Right! The repair potion if I spray it on the bell it'll take us to the staff!" She spritzed it across the bell ripping it from the roof levitating it off the building.

'Shit!'

"JUMPPPP!" Akko cried out leaping from the clocktower hugging the floating bell.

"Well.." Kenji started blankly turning to a snickering Sucy, "We've died in harder ways."

They all jumped onto the bell crashing down into the ground before ricocheting back into the air, they zoomed through the streets and a forest soon emerging at the gate of Luna Nova.

Miss Ursula and Holbrooke walked down the entrance, "Look out!" Akko warned a crash pad suddenly forming in front of them completely stopping the bell knocking it up a hill.

Miss Holbrooke's staff whipped away from her hand connecting back onto the bell.

Kenji scattered across the ground quickly getting back up, "Is everyone ok?"

"Yeah, thanks to Headmistress Holbrooke.."

Both Miss Holbrooke and the skeleton were left silent staring slack jawed at each other, "Miranda...it's really you."

"It's so good to see you again.."

Kenji smiled at their interaction turning to Akko, he simply extended his hand out to her, "..Akko can we just move past what happened I'm tired of acting nervous around each other."

Akko practically had stars in her eyes grabbing Kenji's hands with both of hers, "Thank you! Not being able to talk to you has been really boring, I don't have anyone to joke around with.."

Kenji couldn't hold back a blush meekly pushing his hand through his hair, "W-well I-I could s-say the same so let's just move on," He smiled.

"And Kenji...about hiding that page from you I'm really sorry I was just scared that's all."

"Don't worry about it, I was upset sure but I was being way too pushy and besides there are words here that I can't even understand so I'll probably be here for a little while longer," Kenji groaned showing off the picture of it he had on his phone.

"Young witches I thank you for giving me the chance to see my daughter again.." The skeleton man brought them into a hug lifting them up into the air, "Any you young lad, I wish you the best of luck on your journey as a wizard I had friend much like you back when I was alive.."

"Eh!?" Kenji boomed tilting his head in confusion, "You knew another wizard was he sent here or just born here.."

"I'm sorry but he didn't say all that much to me about him, just that he wanted to make magic the best he could there isn't enough time to tell you all that's he's said to me now take this as my parting gift!"

Placing his hat onto Kenji's head the skeletal man's hand began to grow transparent, "..Um thanks I'll take care of it," Kenji fixed the strap around it fitting the hat to his size.

As the skeleton grew more faint leaves spurred into the air flurrying up into the sky along with the skeleton, Sucy began rapidly coughing in disgust, "Dammit I think I inhaled a little bit of that old man.." She grumbled pouring water onto her tongue.

"Way to ruin the moment Sucy.." Lotte cut her off her face twisting in annoyance.

"Both you girls and you Mr. Otsuka not only used magic outside the school but also illegally resurrecting the dead...are you prepared for your punishment?"

Everyone but Sucy audibly gulped, "Seriously!" Kenji whisper yelled.

"What the anticipations killing me."

"You all have to fix all the broken brooms," Miss Holbrooke finished an audible groan being heard from Sucy.

"Actually, for a lazy weeb such as myself that's still a pretty good punishment," Kenji said slugging his shoulders.

"Whelp, let's not waste any time and get fixing!" Akko chirped pulling them over to the stock room.

'I may as well enjoy this as much as I can...before Akko's starts whining'

He unconsciously blushed as he snuck glances at her, '...Yeah this'll be fine'
