Ursula stared at the painting on her wall, it presented a glowing tree protruding from the ground. Seven words written across it in a design that resembled the big dipper.

She sighed at the humility of it all, after all those years Akko had already managed to activate three of the words of Arcturus. And with all of the incantations the young witch hadn't even realized what they were, it was all just a feeling for her.

That was why Ursula had to tell her, explain what it all meant and what it was trying to achieve. To break through the seal of the Grand Triskellion, for the Claiomh Solais.

But the dwelling thought on her mind was whether Akko could speak them all. No matter how hard she tried back then, she wasn't able to speak the seventh it was practically of impossible.

Her teacher had instructed her to help Akko along her journey like she had for her many years ago.

Staring out the circular window onto the night sky, Ursula steeled her resolve placing a hand onto the glass, "That's it. Tomorrow, I'll make sure to tell Akko everything!"

Meanwhile, on the other end of the school. Kenji tiredly rubbing his eyes, struggling to keep himself awake as he watched Constanze delicately hold his crystal in her hands, shifting it in between her fingers trying anything to get it to activate.

'God it's so late, Constanze doesn't even look tired. Maybe she's used to staying up this late?'

"Hey Constanze," Kenji slurred his words, drifting further off to sleep, "..I get you wanna use the crystal as something to power the portal, but I don't know how to get it to work like it did at the festival.."

'I can use magic with it, but we already tested that. It has a different kind of energy source, how the hell did I activate it like at the festival when Akko used the Shiny Rod!?'

It confused him to no end. Sure, he knew getting home wasn't going to be any kind of easy task especially after the insane ventures he'd gone on already just to get to the point where he could use it in tandem with magic.

The portal was still only halfway built, which to be fair was still a lot of progress for two weeks but that was because it was the easy section of the process. All that was needed for it was a platform and the beginning arch.

Now they would need multiple things just to have a chance of getting it running. Including a high voltage of magic, which in this kind of world wasn't actually that easy to obtain.

Luna Nova was struggling enough with the decrease of magic, and Kenji had taken notice of that. It made sense, this may have been another world but that didn't mean it wouldn't have its own issues and political problems.

The world doesn't want magic, yet there's still a need for it. It was ironic in that sense.

Finally, Constanze stopped the fixated stare she had on the green prism, casually throwing it back to him, "Consey will try and find some resources to start the power wiring for the portal, you should go sleep before you collapse here!" The machine robotically barked back at him ushering for him to leave.

Kenji didn't bother to argue or fight back, sloppily collapsing on the chair rocketing him back up and into Constanze's room.

Of course, Amanda and Jasminka had already fallen asleep so waking them up would place him in a very precarious situation. He silently escaped the dorm room, making his way over to his own.

There, he spotted Diana but she either chose to ignore him or simply didn't catch eyes with him, 'Why's she up so late? I'd expect someone as studious as her to get to bed at a designated bedtime...'

Shrugging the thought off, he wordlessly slumped into his own bed not even bothering to close the room behind him.

Soon enough, or maybe a little too soon did the next day arrive.

It wasn't like Kenji was tired, six hours was more than the amount of sleep he'd need to function. It was just today would be the first day back at school since he and Akko had officially started dating.

Well, it was more like the first day since Akko had announced to the entire school that they were dating. He wasn't going anywhere near as far as to avoiding her, they'd spoken fairly easily the day before, going out with Akko publicly wasn't the main problem.

During his time at Luna Nova, he'd mainly endured the dirty looks and talks behind his back. Mainly because it honestly didn't bother him in the slightest, he could sit there and listen what they had to say to him all day.

But if they all started badmouthing him and Akko because of it then that would be an issue. Not to mention the slow increase in fitting in he'd been trying lately, he'd even managed to talk to Barbara about the first Nightfall book he'd picked up from Lotte.

'Rumours spread so easily between girls! Not to mention that one time, they got everyone to think I was just a better-looking gremlin working at the school!'

Slipping on his newly ironed uniform thanks to the one he'd borrowed from a fairy, Kenji weakly headed out of his dorms nearly bumping face first into a witch that had just smacked into his broader figure.

"Oh sorry...I should've seen you coming," Kenji apologized, knowing they were both at fault but decided not to start anything.

"No, I was in a rush and wasn't paying attent...ion," As she looked up to him, her face slowly degraded into annoyance and laughter.

'Yep, this is about what I expected..'

He decided against saying anything else, choosing to lock his dorm room and head over to the next building for breakfast.

'The best part about this school has to be the food! Especially since I posses zero cooking skills!'

As he trudged through the halls, he took note of some girls glaring at him, murmuring amongst their friends pure the usual. But there were also others, not bothering to look at him.

It wasn't in the ignorant kind of sense either, it felt...normal. Like how you wouldn't look at everyone who passed you in the halls because they weren't bothering to pay attention to you.

Kenji somewhat felt like a normal student.

"Hey!" A hoarse voice called out to him shattering that feeling instantly.

Turning around with the calmest expression he could muster, Kenji greeted them, "Yeah, how can I help?"

"Your dating Akku, aren't you? How shameless, you've only been here for around 4 months and you've already made a move on a girl. Figures since you're the only boy," She cackled at him alongside her friends.

'...Who is this? I'm pretty sure I've never seen them in my life'

"Is that all you have to say?" Kenji made sure to deliver it with the most deadpan tone he could muster, getting a nervous groan to come from the three witches understanding that it was best to retreat.

Sighing at his worries being proven to be true, Kenji shuffled over to the next building making it through the grassy courtyard as he did.

That was until a loud voice yelled out his name, scaring him back a bit, "KENJI!" He knew who it was, Akko. Sitting on a hill, joined by Sucy, Lotte, Amanda, Jasminka and Constanze.

Breakfast lasted around 45 minutes so he could expend some time in chatting with them, not that he an obligation not to, "Come on, come on hurry up!" She pestered him until he finally trudged over to them.

"Yes, yes I'm here. Honestly I'm surprised your all even up so early, I got a little held up to be honest.."

Amanda snickered under her breath, "Yeah, Constanze told us how much of a mess you looked like yesterday."

Kenji shot her a look of betrayal, his doughy, brown eyes souring into a sulk, "Don't be mad Kenji, I bet you looked cute when you were sleep," Akko complimented him, earning both a blush from Kenji and a smirk from Amanda.

'O-Ok I appreciate that but now look what she's started..'

"I get that you two are dating but don't starting shoving it down our throats already.." Sucy spoke up gravely, her face scrunching up in disgust.

"I-I'm not!" Akko barked back tossing the wipe she was using on the Shiny Rod at her, "I'm still allowed to compliment him aren't I!?"

"Well sure, but now that you guys are dating its..." Amanda paused trying to finish her own sentence.

"Different," Lotte added in for her.

Kenji and Akko exchanged a look, silently shrugging it off to each other deciding this was just how it was with them now, "..Changing the topic, you were pretty cool with that Shiny Rod at the festival Akko!" Amanda switched the topic quickly.

"Yeah, it was amazing, you as well Kenji!" Lotte exclaimed.

"Eh?" He blinked in confusion, "The heck did I do?"

"Didn't your crystal also help to blow up that seed Vajoris had in their stomach?" Sucy intervened not paying too much attention to the conversation.

Yet again feeling the object through his uniform, Kenji rolled back and forth from his seated position, "I guess. Still, I don't even know what I did. Magic and broom riding is about all I have control over, getting it bigger or to activate is another story, its honestly a little frustrating.."

Constanze's robot lightly pat him on the back, feeling some sympathy towards him.

"It'll be fine right! I'm the same Kenji, I don't know what to do with Shiny Rod yet. I don't even know how or why it uses its magic when it does, maybe it just knows when I really need it, we can all figure it out eventually!" On instinct, Akko gently placed her hand on his. No one really took notice of it, but Kenji locked eyes with to neighbouring witches walking by resulting in flicking his hand away from hers.

"Yeah, thanks Akko. Although I can still help but think about what happened during that blue moon abyss.." Kenji recalled back to that night.

"Right! That was so weird, giving some kind of test before knocking me out.." Akko spoke on what happened puffing her cheeks out in annoyance.

'An anomaly...that's what she called me. Not to mention an out looker what does that even mean!'

As he stared off, wondering why he was even thinking back on that now. He could swear he spotted Diana again, watching him and Akko with what looked like envy and dejection.

'This days gotten off to a great start, well at least breakfast will make it better..'

Well, this certainly wasn't good.

Not only had his morning meal been ruined with no one to cook, but this meant the fairies of Luna Nova had decided to go on strike.

Now he, Akko and most of the school watched as the fairies began blocking up all sides of access for the sorcerer's stone. Thus, rendering any use of magic null and void, 'They really have this kind of stuff? Couldn't the dragons have done this instead of stealing it.'

"What a shame...guess we'll have to resort to potions," Sucy cried out empathetically.

"Oh well, if that's the way it's gotta be...then so be it," Kenji pulled a flask filled with green liquid from his pocket throwing it up and down in his hands. Careful not to drop it due to it having levitation properties.

Suddenly, appearing out of nowhere. A familiar reporter witch came into being already commentating on the situation, "OH NO! It looks like the fairies are blocking off the sorcerer's stone with magic resistant boards!"

"Where the hell did you come from? And don't say that with such a grin on your face!?" Kenji bellowed flailing his arms about, only receiving a cheeky smile from the girl in return.

"Why would they take away magic? Don't they know how much we need it!" Akko let her frustration known, stomping her foot once more in a small fit of anger. Kenji resorted to lightly patting on the head, doing so without even thinking.

"Don't sweat it. I'm sure this situation will all be sorted out in no time...I hope, that breakfast this morning was as dull as anything.." He grimaced at the remembrance of the taste.

Akko blushed at the contact but didn't say anything against it, "Y-Yeah that's probably right, we just have to hold out hope!"

Getting a feeling that even some of the teachers were watching them, Kenji jittered his hand from her head a meek smile plastered over him, "R-Right.."

'Stop giving me so many dirty looks, I get it! I'll stop'

Just as he took his hand off of her head, a single board fell back from a strong gust of wind knocking it from the fairy's grasp. It barrelled off the 1000ft tower, gaining in speed heading straight for them.

'..Shit'

Out of nowhere, the crystal strapped across his neck flashed a bright green obscuring his vision. It completely shattered the potion her was holding splashing the blue liquid upwards and all over the nullifying board.

As expected, it enveloped it in a blue hue, keeping it airborne and stable allowing everyone to move away. Kenji gently moved Akko out of the way, accidently getting a reaction he wasn't expecting out of her.

"T-T-Thanks..." Akko stared at the ground, trying to hide her own embarrassment.

"You just saved our lives thanks!" Yet again, the reporter witch shouted in his ear. He could swear she was outwardly trying to get him to go deaf.

"..I appreciate it, but I didn't really do anything. It sorts of acted on its own," He stared down at the crystal, not recognising that it had, yet again changed in size. Kenji got it back onto his neck once more wiping the remaining blue liquid off of his hand.

"That was quite impressive, you made it before even I could," A voice Kenji hadn't heard complimented him. From the air, several drones hovered around a single figure.

They had pure white hair, adorning sleek black glasses. With a full crimson trench coat snaking down to their legs, they slowly lowered themselves till the drone they stood on was safely on the ground.

'..Drones? I didn't even know Luna Nova had the ability to make those...not to mention how advanced they look'

"Oh right!" The headmistress let out a slight gasp in acknowledgement of the figure, "You're the new teacher, with everything that's happening it completely slipped my mind."

"But she's so youn-"

As per usual, Kenji slapped Akko across the head. Not enough to hurt, but enough to knock some sense it her, "You can't just go saying that about people."

"No, it's fine, I realize I might look a little young to be a teacher, but with these magictronics embedded into the machine it becomes an advanced broom.." Turning her attention to Kenji, she had a look that could only be described as curiosity.

"..But you, even with the magic being blocked. No one else can use it, you still managed to get that crystal around your neck to work, could I see it quickly?" The teacher asked with a tad bit of strangeness in her eye.

Kenji was going to hold off on doing so, but he ultimately saw no harm in it. Brandishing it out of his shirt, she inspected it with great detail the look in her eyes almost seeming nostalgic.

When she was finally done, the brunette decided to pop the question, "Have you seen this before? Or does it look familiar to you?" He didn't mean to sound needy; it had just ended up coming out that way.

Coughing into her hand slightly, the teacher explained herself, "No I was just interested that's all.."

Headmistress Holbrooke soon introduced the teacher as professor Croix of Modern Magic.

Within seconds, Croix swiped a whole bunch of buttons on her console. Getting the drones to move in sequence of one another, "This is it. The future of magic!"

Akko stared up at it with an expression Kenji couldn't quite make out. Was it confusion? Sadness or maybe she was just happy?

For once Kenji didn't know.

"Professor Croix is amazing!" Akko boasted hopping and down on her bed.

Kenji disregarded his last thought, only after a couple hours did the witch express just how much she admired the new teacher. Kenji sat across next to Sucy, barely listening to what she had to say.

He was paying attention sure, but something about the way Croix presented herself gave him the wrong vibe.

Sure, the ideas about magic she had and what she'd already done about where definitely cool and the high-tech drones were actually fairly impressive. He didn't even have anything to base it off, but he'd be making sure to not entirely drop his guard around her yet.

"I heard she has tablets in her classroom!" Lotte added enthusiastically.

"Woah, really! Since its a new semester I might have to book a class," Akko piped up rocking two and fro.

"I might to, I haven't really seen tablets all that much here so it could be interesting," Kenji added shaking Sucy's hand away from him, he didn't want any part of the ingredients she was handing him.

She shivered up on her bed, huddling up to the only warmth in the room. Kenji gestured the candle away from him, "You really can't deal with a little cold, you're coming off as privileged right now.."

"Shush, I just wish the stupid strike would stop. Those fairies are being unreasonable.." Sucy groaned once again, covering the blanket over herself.

Kenji snatched it, only for the mauve-haired girl to do the same, "We're all going insane, I can only sleep in my room for a certain amount of time now dammit..!" He continued to grumble like an old man.

Pouting more than she'd done before, Akko continued to watch the two of the lazily fight back against one another. Either to tired or cold to really do anything to each other.

"Kenji you know you could just sit over here.." She murmured angrily.

In regard to what Akko had said, Kenji didn't hear it exactly holding the candle out of Sucy's reach, "I will actually dowse your scarlet powder," Sucy threatened in a cold, empty tone.

"Goddamn try it," Kenji smirked back.

Lotte watched her with slight fear, she doesn't think she'd ever seen Akko look so intimidating before.

'Relationships are scary..'

Kenji woke up to a disgustingly freezing feeling.

That was, in part due to sub-zero conditions now present in the building, but also due to him learning that Akko had now joined the labour union for the fairies, 'Great...my girlfriend of a week has already joined a rally..'

This only served to increase the number of witches badmouthing Akko, Kenji hated the fact that he had to hear it, but decided to dwell on it later and deal with the main problem at hand.

"Lotte...how exactly did this happen?"

"Well, she did originally come here to get them to stop, but they actually managed to convince her on their side...now she's their main spokesperson.." Lotte sheepishly explained, a little self-conscious.

Miss Finnelan was especially flabbergasted, to stunned to speak.

"We want our fair share!" Akko chanted together with the fairies.

His whole demeanour changed as the rallying continued, that was until an eel-haired girl approached them all, "That's quite enough!" Diana ordered out loud.

With her shoes clacking against the pavement, Diana did her best to intimidate all the fairies, "I'm not sure you understand, Luna Nova needs the sorcerer's' stone to function without it the school will shut down. Do all of you really want that, you'll be put out of a job and home.."

"Hate to admit it, but she's right...god I really did hate that," Sucy winced at the infliction she'd caused on herself.

"I didn't even realize fairies rallied so much on magic," Kenji commented.

"They did all stop moving when the dragons stole the sorcerer's stone," Lotte brought up, earning a understanding hum from Kenji.

Of course, the situation only threatened to get worse when Akko called Diana out as an aristocrat, "How dare you!?"

"Diana," Kenji calmly pulled her away from the chants, "I get what you're saying, really I do. But Akko's not gonna budge like this.."

Looking at him with very obvious annoyance, Diana eventually sighed, "It annoys me that your right, because it really just seems that you're playing favourites with Akko, especially considering your relationship now.."

"Not you as well...that doesn't matter. Luna Nova will go down under if this continues, I'm gonna try to talk to Akko later but for now you should back off, before she starts calling you eel hair soon, trust me she's on the edge..." Kenji explained earning a weak giggle from Diana.

Glancing back, Diana accepted the inevitable and started to leave in a huff, "That's fine, just make sure you don't get too ahead of yourself," With yet another cold stare she was gone, her platinum blonde her swaying as she did.

"I was impressed by you at Samhain festival Akko, but I guess I was wrong."

Just like that, Diana left along with the rest of the teachers. Leaving Akko alone with the fairies.

Rain poured down by the motherload. Kenji in a stupid attempt to talk Akko out of it all had decided to stay, yet again warming up into a single thin blanket underneath the tower.

"Akko magic will stop if this continues, are you really ok with that?" Lotte questioned; Akko fiddled with her fingers in return not sure what to say.

Kenji wasn't sure what to say either, sure they'd all need magic soon but it was true. Fairies needed it just as much, if not more than witches do, to be honest Kenji had no idea if he could stand against witches just to do what was right.

Guess it was the same with Akko, he couldn't do anything about the situation with them both. She had the guts to do something like that just on a feeling, just because she cared about them.

"I just can't help but think, if I'm trying to become a great witch...like Chariot. Then it's not right for me to want magic and be happy and the fairies don't get any.." Akko stared up into the sky, and then back up to the fairies sat together. Her cosy smile enough to warm Kenji's own spirit.

He caught on to the fairy floating a tray over to them, gently taking it off their hands, "It looks like they brought us soup," Lotte said.

Akko was frothing out the mouth, salivating at the sight of it all. She didn't hesitate to immediately gulp it down, "Akko wait-" Kenji took notice of some ingredients inside, slowly gulping it down.

And of course, Sucy had to ruin the mood, "Pretty sure there are frogs' warts and gecko eyes in here..." As quickly as she'd drunk it did Akko spit it out all over Sucy's face.

"That's deserved, should've kept quiet. This isn't even that bad," Kenji mocked sarcastically, catching some of the soup thrown in his own face.

As he collected them all up to bring it back over to them, Akko run up to him, "Kenji let me help you!"

"Oh thanks...shouldn't you get some sleep though? Big day tomorrow with...all of this."

Snickering to herself, Akko took the cups and placed them with the others, "Yeah, I might have a jumped the gun a little, but I'm still proud that I'm doing it!" The crimson eyed witch grinned with determination.

"You're really amazing Akko..." Kenji slipped out, instantly regretting his own words.

Said brunette flashed stark red, not sure how to respond, "W-Why would you say that!?" She blurted out, even more embarrassed than he was.

"I don't know. Because, you can so easily act on your own instinct. I sympathise with the fairies as well but at the end of the day, Luna Nova needs magic so I don't know who to side with, but you did it without even thinking..."

Akko smiled at the praise, feeling a little giddy inside, "Your right Kenji, I just can't help but wanna help them. I'm sure that after all of this, we can come to some sort of an agreement."

At that moment, Kenji felt like such an idiot. He'd been so worried what everyone would think that he didn't even take in consideration how much Akko wouldn't even care what they had to say.

"I really don't deserve a girlfriend," He dryly sulked into his hands, laughing at his own stupidity.

"Eh! Don't say that Kenji, you've been a great boyfriend so far! Especially when you helped me out with Diana! I-I'm r-really happy!" Akko stammered hiding her own flushed face in her long brown locks.

No matter how red she looked, Kenji only seemed worse, "Why would you say something like that now!?"

"W-What I'm allowed to say embarrassing stuff if you are!"

Whilst they continued to argue Lotte could swear, she saw a gremlin disappear as quickly as she caught sight of it.

The discussion between the witches and labour union had gone straight to hell. With a fire spirit being found doused in water, barely alive. All of the fairies had started clashing with the witches in an all-out brawl.

Kenji quickly realized what was going on, something had taken control of the fairies or maybe even someone.

"We need to get to the sorcerer's stone now! Witches need the magic back, maybe then we can fix the fairies!" Kenji yelled out to Sucy, Akko and Lotte following close behind him.

When the made it to the top there waiting for them was something worse. A black and red creature, dawned in worker uniform along with a creepy smile, "What is that, Lotte can you translate what its saying?" Akko raised an eyebrow, slightly unnerved.

The ginger-haired girl moved her glasses trying to understand it, only to come out confused, "I can't...that fairy, has no emotions whatsoever, it's like hes a machine."

Kenji flipped his wand out, the crystal activating all the same. Right on cue, the creature morphed into a rectangular mess deforming its small structure into something much more monstrous.

A complete shadow of deep red consumed over the sorcerer's stone, it smashed through all of the magic nullifying boards. Akko getting caught in its line of sight, "AKKO!" The three of them called out to her.

Shifting his gaze back an forth for a few seconds, Kenji leaped out the gaping window his eyes zoning further onto the plummeting Akko, "Kenji catch!" Sucy's voice called out to him from the tip of the tower, he didn't look up to her only snatching the potion bottle into his grasp.

But he wouldn't make it in time and throwing the potion wouldn't spill on both of them at this speed.

Luckily, a drone zipped upwards balancing Akko atop it, Kenji couldn't help but sigh mentally, 'Good she's safe..'

Splashing his potion over himself, Kenji levitated for the brief moment he needed collapsing roughly next to Akko, "You good Akko?" He asked drowsily, the downside of the potion beginning to take effect.

'Right, this uses sleeping beetles to work, so of course I'll get tired..'

Croix soon followed after her drones, not paying any mind to Kenji and Akko's presence. He couldn't be too mad though; she had saved Akko's life.

"The fire spirit has an emotion of red, preparing drones! Heleiphaea Gryffa!"

All of the magically controlled devices shot out one after another, over and around to all of the red-eyed raging fairies syphoning all of the magic from them, a red glow entering the fans as it did.

Starting to watch the spectacle, Kenji also took notice of the entranced look Croix had over her face. Sure, she was helping, but right now it didn't really feel like it.

Once they came back, laser shot towards the flame spirit, "Fuel spirit injection!" The modern magic teacher declared setting off the machine, a full blow explosion of red smoke consumed the couple getting Akko's hair to puff out.

The spirit leaped for joy at being revived, laying on Kenji smoking lap.

"Sorry about that, are you to, ok?" Croix asked with a concerned smile, flipping her glasses into her hair.

Akko answered before Kenji could even open his mouth, "Yes!" She practically had stars in her eyes as she spoke.

"So, this is the Sorcery Solution System you've created?" Miss Holbrooke asked, poking the black prism.

"Yes, but just called is the SSS for short, I explained before this can artificially create magic and allow Luna Nova to prosper even more with the sorcerer's stone!" Croix continued to expand on her plan, Kenji only heard the last section about her moving all her work into the new moon tower.

Little did Kenji know that for the days to come, that it would be marking a new dawn for Luna Nova.

And Ursula would be returned to meet and old friend.
