Chapter 5:
*KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!*
"Will?", Angelo said knocking on the bathroom door. "It's me. Let me in so we can talk."
Nothing.
"You can't stay in there forever.", he said. "Come on Will. The only way you'll know why you're not one of Irma's Bridesmaids is by letting me in so we can talk."
Just then the bathroom door slowly opened. Angelo took this as a sign and walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind him. He then looked at Will and saw that her eyes were all red a puffy from crying.
"Aw, Will.", Angelo said as eh walked up to her and hugged her. "I didn't know you'd be this upset. But if you had waited and let Irma tell you why you weren't one of her Bridesmaids, you wouldn't be in here crying."
"Why won't she let me be a Bridesmaid?", Will asked in between sobs.
"Because I told her not to.", Angelo said as they pulled away from each other.
"Why would you do that?", Will questioned as her eyes began to water up again.
"Because of the promise you and me made when we were kids.", Angelo said.
"What?", Will questioned .
"Don't you remember?", Angelo asked. "We were at the wedding of two of Aunt Susan and Uncle John's friends."
Flashback
"That Tara lady looks real pretty.", a seven-year-old Will said to a seven-year-old Angelo as they sat together at one of the tables of the wedding reception.
"Everyone has been telling her that all day.", Angelo said. "And from what Uncle John said earlier, she's really likes hearing it."
"Do you think you'll ever get married?", Will asked Angelo.
"I don't know.", Angelo said as he tapped his right index finger on the side of his chin as he looked up at the ceiling thinking. "Maybe. I mean, Uncle John says that I'll find that special someone some day. I just don't know when."
"I don't think I'll ever get married.", Will said sadly.
"Sure you will.", Angelo said. "You're a girl. Girls always get a guy to marry."
"But none of the boys at school like me.", Will said sadly. "They all pick on me and say I'm a weirdo."
"I don't do that!", Angelo said.
"That's because you my best friend.", Will said.
"So, why don't we get married?", Angelo said.
"Really?", Will questioned as she looked at Angelo.
"Yeah!", Angelo said. "But, I'll have to asked your parents first. That's what Uncle John says the husband has to do."
"Mommy says that you have to ask the daddy.", Will said. "But daddy's not here."
"So, I guess I'll have to ask your mommy.", Angelo said as he got out of his seat. "Come on!"
Will then got out of her seat and held hands with Angelo as they walked towards his Uncle John and her mother, who were dancing together. Once they caught up to them, Angelo tugged on Susan's dress. Susan and John both looked down to see Angelo and Will holding hands.
"What is it kids?", Susan asked just as the song that was playing ends.
"Aunt Susan, can I marry Will", Angelo asked the woman he sees as an aunt.
"W-w-w-what?", Susan ask making sure she heard Angelo right.
"Can I marry Will?", Angelo asked again.
"Oh, Lord!", John says with a grin.
Just then, Tara comes walking up with her husband.
"What's wrong John?", Tara asked.
John then whispers to Tara what Angelo just asked Susan.
"Aaaaaaw!", Tara says with a smile. "That's so sweet!"
"So, can I marry Will?", Angelo asked.
"Can he, Mommy?", Will asked with a smile on her face.
"Looks like this generation of Vanders men works fast!", Tara joked.
"Not helping, Tara.", Susan said.
"I got this, Susan.", John says as he kneels down to the kids. "As nice as this all is, not to mention the fact that you actually came and asked Susan permission to marry Will, Angelo, I'm afraid that you two are to young to get married."
"AaaaaaW!", they whined. "Why not?"
"Because, for all you know, you two may find someone else in the future.", Susan said.
"Maybe.", Angelo said. "But if we don't then could we get married?"
"That will be up to you.", Susan said. "But like I said, something could happen and you two may find someone else."
"What will we do then?", Will questioned.
"Hmmmmm...", Angelo said as he began to think. "I know! If that happens, you can be my Best Man!"
"But I'm a girl!", Will said.
"Then you'll be my Best Girl.", Angelo said. "Or Best Woman."
"And at my wedding, you will be my Man of Honor!", Will said getting excited. "But what if we forget?"
"I have an idea.", Susan said. "Does anyone have some paper?"
"I do!", somebody said as he pulled out a sketch book. "I was going do some drawing after the reception."
Susan took two sheets of paper from the sketch book and wrote something on both of the sheets. She then showed them to John, who read them and nodded in agreement.
"Here's what it says kids.", John said to Angelo and Will. "And I quote: If I Will Vandom/Angelo Vanders do not marry Angelo Vanders/Will Vandom, but instead marry someone else, then Will Vandom will be the Best Woman at Angelo Vander's wedding, and Angelo Vanders will be the Man of Honor at Will Vandoms wedding. Unless something happens to them."
"Does that work for you two?", Susan asked.
"Uh-huh!", the two of them said with a nod.
"Then sign.", John said as Susan handed them a pen.
Once Will and Angelo signed both contracts each, Susan took one, while John took the other.
"We'll put these some place safe, when we get home.", John said as he put his in his jacket pocket and Susan put her in her purse.
"But for now, let's have a practice wedding for these two!", Tara said with a smile.
"What?", John and Susan questioned.
"Why not?", Tara's husband, Frank, said. "It could be fun!"
"Will can use my veil!", Tara said as she took her veil off and placed it on Will's head.
"Here's the flowers!", the woman who caught the flowers said as she handed them to Tara, who in turn handed them to Will.
"Now we need rings.", Frank said. "I know!"
Frank then ran out of the room and came back a minute later with two yellow plastic rings.
"Got them from, the vending machine.", Frank said.
"This is going to be fun!", John said with a smile.
"Let's go for it.", Susan said with a grin.
"We can have the practice wedding right here!", Tara said. "Let's make a path, people!"
Within a few minutes, there was a path made for Will, as she stood at the beginning of it. At the end of the path was the pastor, who performed Tara and Frank's wedding, standing there with a smile on his face. Next to him was Angelo who waved at Will with a smile on his face. Will waved back. Also down there was Susan standing where the Maid of Honor would stand. She too waved to Will, who waved back. Will looked up to see John standing next to her.
"You ready, kiddo?", John asked as he held out his hand.
"Yeah!", Will said as she took his hand.
"Give us some wedding music, please!", John said.
Just the someone got to the piano that was there and began to play the wedding march song. John then began to walk Will down the aisle. As they were walking, Will couldn't help but smile from under the veil as she held the flowers she was down the aisle, she stood next to Angelo as they faced the pastor, who smiled down at then.
"Now I'm going to make this short and sweet for you two.", the pastor said. "Okay?"
"Okay.", Will and Angelo said.
"Now do you, Angelo, take young Will to be your wife?", the pastor asked Angelo.
"Yes.", Angelo said with a nod.
"You're supposed to say "I do", kiddo.", John whispered to Angelo getting a few giggles and laughs out of the people there.
"Oh!", Angelo said. "I do!"
"And do you, Will, take young Angelo to be your husband?", the pastor asked Will.
"I do!", Will said happily.
"Now Angelo, place your ring on Will's finger.", the pastor told Angelo.
"Okay!", Angelo said as he slipped Will's ring on her finger. "There!"
"And now Will, you place your ring on Angelo's finger.", the pastor said.
"Okay!", Will said as she slipped Angelo's ring on his finger. "There!"
"I now pronounce you, husband and wife!", the pastor said. "You may now kiss the bride."
Angelo and Will then turned to face each other. Angelo then lifted the veil the covered Will's face to see her smiling. Angelo then leaned forward and kissed Will on her cheek making her blush a bit. She in turn kissed him on his cheek making him blush even though you couldn't see it due to his dark skin.
"Aaaaaaaw!", most of the people said before they started cheering and clapping.
For the rest of the reception, Angelo and Will had fun dancing and having fun. Both knew that no matter what happens in the future, they'd all be best friends.
End Flashback.
"Do you remember now, Ms. Temper Tantrum?", Angelo teased with a grin.
"Okay!", Will said with a grin of her own as she playfully nudged Angelo. "So, maybe I overreacted a little."
"So, you alright?", Angelo asked.
"Yeah.", Will said with a small smile.
Will then hugged Angelo, surprising him.
"Thanks for reminding me of that day.", Will said as she continued hugging Angelo. "That was the day I knew you really one of my best friends."
"You're always going to be one of my best friends, Will.", Angelo said as he returned the hug. "And now you must go and apologize to my wife."
"Think Irma will be mad?", Will asked as they pulled away from each other.
"Nah!", Angelo said as he opened the bathroom door. "She'll be more happy that things are cool between you two."
Once in the living room, Angelo and Will saw that everyone was looking at a photo album.
"What are you all looking at?", Angelo asked getting everyones attention.
Irma then held up the photo album to show Angelo and Will a picture them when they did their little practice wedding.
"Aw, man!", Angelo said. "Did you really have to get that album, Uncle John?"
"Sorry.", John grinned. "But when Irma explained the whole Bridesmaids thing, I had to get the photo album out."
"You two looked so cute!", Hay Lin cooed as she looked at the pictures.
"Let me see that.", Angelo said as took the album from Hay Lin.
Angelo then turned a few pages until he found what we was looking for.
"Here we go!", Angelo said.
"What is it?", Eric asked.
"The contract me and Will signed when we were kids.", Angelo replied.
And there it was. One of the two contracts that Susan had written up for Angelo and Will. At the bottom of it was their signature. Tapped at the bottom right corner of the contract was the ring Will placed on his finger.
"You even kept the ring.", Will said as she looked at the contract.
"Yep.", Angelo said. "So I wouldn't forget the fun times."
"So, you're not mad anymore?", Irma asked Will.
"Nah.", Will said. "Sorry about getting all upset like that and walking off."
"It's okay.", Irma said before the two hugged.
"Well, now that's all over, let's get back to work!", Anna said as she went back to opening some boxes.
Just then, a fold appeared before them and Blunk came running through it with a look of fear on his face.
"Blunk, what's wrong?", Caleb asked as he saw the look of fear on the Passling's face.
"Queen and friends come quick!", Blunk shouted . "Phobos and friends escape!"
"WHAT?", the young heroes shouted.
"I have to go guys!", Elyon said.
"I'm coming too.", Caleb said.
"All of us are!", Will said as she pulled out the Heart. "Guardians, Unite!"
As always, once the words were said, Will was covered in a ball of pink light, while Irma was in a ball of water, Taranee in a ball of fire, Cornelia in a ball of green light, and Hay Lin in a ball of air. They then flaoted in the air as they began to transform onto their Guardian forms.
Irma- "Water!"
Taranee- "Fire!"
Cornelia- "Earth!"
Hay Lin- "Air!"
Will- "Quintessence!"
Once the the light faded, the girls were in their Guardian forms. From their purple boots and shoe, to their green and blue stockings, and their pink or teal shirts and skirts.
"You guys don't mind finishing up this stuff do you?", Irma asked.
"Go!", Tom said. "Do your job."
"We'll handle the rest of this.", Anna said with a reassuring smile. "Just be careful."
"Thanks mom.", Irma said as she hugged her mom. "We'll be back as soon as we can."
The Guardians, along with their boyfriends, Elyon, and Blunk ran through the fold to see if they could help in any way. The girls mothers as well as Yan Lin, Tom, John, Cassidy, and Peter watched as the fold closed not knowing what was going to happen to them.
"Well no use standing hre waiting for them to come back.", John said. "Let's see if ewe can get all this stuff you ladies bought set up for the young couple."
"Mr. Vanders, I have a favor to ask you.", Peter said.
"You want me to train you like I did Angelo and the boys, huh?", John questioned.
"Y-yeah.", Peter said. "I just want to be there for my sister if she needs me."
"No problem.", John said. "Me and Pop have been training Raythor and Elyon's captains. We can fit you in."
"Add me to that list.", Cassidy said.
"Sure. Why not.", John said. "The more the merrier! Anybody else wanna join in?"
"Not me.", Tom said.
"I'm fine just the way I am.", Anna said.
"Same here.", Joan Lin agreed.
"Me too.", Elizabeth said.
"Ditto.", Susan said.
"I'm to old to be flying around anymore.", Yan Lin said. "Now if I were ten or twenty years younger then I'd be up for it."
"Well, I guess it's just you two.", John said. "We can start tomorrow. Meet me in the dojo on the first floor. And be prepared for some intense training."
"No problem.", Peter said as they all went back to unpacking things to get the place set up for Irma and Angelo.
