He couldn't believe that it had actually happened. Although he was ecstatic at the chance to become more that just friends with Pam, he couldn't help but feel guilty when she began to cry. He didn't know exactly what had happened to provoke the break-up, but knowing Roy, he had an idea.

Pam couldn't believe it was actually over. She had spent the past four years with him, engaged for three, just to have him cheat on her? Well, she caught him with this one; who knows how many there had been before. She felt so stupid. Why did she let it go on for this long? At least she caught him before they actually went through with a wedding…whenever that would have been. You think after three years a date would have been set.

Pam noticed Jim staring at her, and she quickly wiped her tears away. He offered her a sympathetic glance, and looked away. This was so humiliating! This was not how it was supposed to be for her. She was about to turn 26. Ugh. Turn 26. The way that milk turns sour. Overnight, she turned from a beautiful girl about to be married into an old maid. About to be married? Who was she kidding. Besides, who would ever want to marry her now?

The minutes seemed to crawl by, and Jim felt himself imploding every time the second hand twitched. He needed to talk to her.
