Chapter 31. The story had deviated from the script
Throughout dinner, Della didn't find any chance to approach to Slytherin's table and get Viktor's autograph.
Victor, what a name! It's also meaningful!
The dinner was also delicious. There were several French dishes that she couldn't name, were tasteful. She recommended Fred a dish that looked like a mutton roll, very tender, with several layers of sliced piece together.
"This is good." She said, "and the soup. It's yummy." That's a white fish soup with cream and rich seafood.
There was a strange silence in Fred, from his expression as if he didn't feel good at all.
Della sympathetically said, "so pity you can't play Quidditch this year — what about if I invite Viktor and Hogwarts students to have a Quidditch game?" She was in high spirits.
Hermione choked and Ron yelled, "that's a good idea!"
Harry was also excited, but he was a bit pessimistic: "I don't think it's possible. He is an international star."
George wiped the corners of his mouth and glanced at his poor brother, was about to say something, while Angelina, sitting next to him, said, "is this possible? I mean, would he like to play with our student teams? He must be bored — but it's a great idea!"
Seriously, it's been frustrating not to play Quidditch all year long.
Especially when Angelina took over as the captain of Quidditch, she was the most miserable one.
George immediately held back: "Dear, I thought it was good. Even if this Vikor doesn't want to, I can have a good time with you."
Della corrected enthusiastically: "his name is Viktor Krum."
Fred finished the fish soup and the roll in silence, then had to go to the hospital wing to get Digestive Potion.
Della went with him.
Mrs. Pomfrey: "it's usually the first grade who eats too much and has to come to get the potion. Fred, you're in sixth grade." But she poured a glass full of mud-colored potion and handed it to him, as she turned to Della, "Della, you're in good health recently, aren't you? You haven't come to me for two weeks."
Della suddenly felt that she might need a drink, just in case she didn't want to get sick at such an important time.
"I don't feel very well…" She said nervously, "now I can't get sick! The weather has changed again recently, and it's raining. What if I catch a cold?"
"All right, all right." Madam Pomfrey stopped her and quickly poured her a glass. "Come on, drink it. You'll feel better."
Fred had finished his potion, but when he smelled Della's, he covered his mouth, "I'm going to bathroom..."
He felt better when he came back. Della had finished her potion, and had not given up the plan. "I think it works. I mean, you're playing well, maybe Viktor wants to have some fun in his spare time." Fred repeated "Viktor" silently, as if to swallow the name, but couldn't get angry at Della anyway. She was so happy.
"Of course, Honey, you'll always be right." He took Della's shoulder and said with a smile.
All people were waiting for him when he returned to his dormitory.
George said, "so, will you play Quidditch with Vik-tor?"
Fred grinned grimly. "I'll beat him off the broomstick countless times!"
All the boys in the dormitory laughed.
George too, shook his head and said, "no, bro, he's the best seeker ever. I guess you can't."
It was more than nine o'clock when Della back to her dormitory, where there's no girl sleeping nor preparing to go to bed, instead, in busy. Della immediately pulled out the hair dye of the cupboard she had planned to use for Christmas.
"Do you want to use it now?" Katie was applying nail polish. The girl beside her was making her hair with a magic curling iron, while the girl on the opposite bed was taking care of the new acne on her chin.
If they had known they would see Viktor Krum today, they would never have come downstairs like this!
Fortunately, it's not too late! Tomorrow, they must be more impeccable! The pink of perfection!
"Yes." Della clenched her teeth, "I'm going to dye it anyway." Although if dyed now, the new hair has grown out by Christmas.
But it's changing now!
She rushed into the bathroom.
Hermione was washing too. She saw Della rush in, before she could say a word, she saw her magic hair dye, she also bought one and they agreed to use it together.
"You use it now? Not waiting for Christmas?" They all considered that this time span was the most suitable one.
But now?
Hermione sighed, "for Viktor?"
Della nodded hard.
The next morning, everyone came to the dining room earlier than before. In the middle of the dining room, stood a high platform, on which was placed a tattered wooden chest, with a flame dancing at the mouth of it.
This was the Goblet of Fire.
Della sat at the table, depressed. Hermione still had a book in front of her, "pity that those Durmstrang have left."
Della was no longer in the mood for breakfast. "Why did they come so early?"
"To put their names in," Neville said. "They all put their names in the Goblet of fire."
Della: "Oh, the champion must be Viktor."
Hermione quietly gave a white eye. "Listen, I know you're excited to see Krum — but it's been a night and you should calm down. He will stay here for half a year anyway, you can get in touch with him slowly. Maybe in the end, you will find that he is stuttering, stingy, stupid, or may be a person who can't speak English well."
"Oh, Hermione, you've always been the smartest girl in Hogwarts! Always!" Fred suddenly popped up.
The angry had gone when Della saw her boyfriend, she stood up to him, "Hi."
Fred seemed to have just seen her: "Della?! Oh, your hair..." He was astonished.
Della turned around in front of him and asked expectantly, "is it good?" This was the colour she chose specially, and the result was better than she thought.
Of course, it's very nice.
Fred was struck.
Since Della had the same red hair as he did. Of course, it was more beautiful than his, warm and bright as fire, and she stood in front of him like the most beautiful goddess.
He couldn't help putting his arms around her and kissing her: "my Aphrodite."
There were not many people in the dining room because Saturday, but Fred and Della still got some applause and cheers.
Della was a little shy. She torn from Fred's arms and saw George: "Hi, George."
George: "Oh, don't mind me. I just arrived." He woke up his brother, "Fred, do you remember our big plan?"
Fred realized it, and took out the parchment with his name on it. "Of course, I remember it." He looked hard at the parchment, "for Viktor."
Della asked blankly, "Oh, I didn't know you liked him so much?"
Fred gave her a complicated look. "Of course it's for you, honey."
He and George stood in front of the goblet, took out a small crystal bottle from their arms and drank the potion together.
All the people gathered around.
Hermione put down her book and came over: "do they want to submit themselves? But I remember they were all under seventeen! Yesterday from headmaster, it's said that only 17 years old were allowed! He also…"
Fred and George stepped over the Age Line set by Headmaster Dumbledore and threw the parchment with their names into the Goblet of fire.
Then the Goblet spat out their parchment and ejected them.
Fred and George were thrown to the ground with long white beards, which aroused a lot of laughter.
Hermione shook her head and went back to book.
Fred and George needed to go to the hospital wing to remove their beards. Della wanted to go with Fred, but was stopped by him.
Fred exclaimed, "no, honey! You don't have to go! You… You haven't finished your breakfast yet! I'll go myself!"
Then without waiting for George, he ran away.
George shrugged at Della and followed.
Della didn't insist because she found a difference from books.
She sat next to Hermione: "Those under 17 can't put their names? Is it true?"
Hermione: "Yes, it's prescribed by the headmaster."
Della: "But Harry is under seventeen."
Hermione looked up and quickly found the logic in her words.
Harry was more confused: "What? Me?" Did it have anything to do with him?
Hermione calmed Harry and said to Della, "do you mean Harry wants to join?" She turned to Harry and asked, "do you?"
Harry shook his head positively: "Of course not!"
Hermione looked at Della and waited her to explain.
Della was more puzzled. She confirmed again, "are you sure you don't? But I thought you would do. Isn't it you who are the champion of Hogwarts?"
Harry was startled. "Me?! How is that possible? It won't be me!"
Ron thought it was a good idea, he encouraged Harry: "Maybe you can! Just use your Invisibility Cloak…"
Harry had a glimmer of emotion, but then he gave up, "no, I can't."
Hermione strongly opposed: "No! Harry is only in the fourth grade! This game is very dangerous!"
Ron retorted, "Harry is not afraid of danger."
Hermione banged on the book and roared, "I say! No way!"
Della slinked around. She spent a day by the lake of Forbidden Forest. There were many girls like her, who walked around the lake today, all wanted to see if the students in Durmstrang would get off the boat.
By dinner time, everyone at Gryffindor's table knew Harry was going to submit his name in the goblet.
Della: "What?"
She was afraid to ask the fuming Hermione, so she asked Katie what was going on.
"They're debating whether Harry wants to attend the Triwizard Tournament," Katie said. "Hermione and Ron were fighting, then at last everyone joined in. The conclusion is Harry is a Gryffindor, so he's going to take part." She paused, "but Harry is not seventeen at all. He can't."
Della: "Yes. So, what are they fighting for?"
Katie shrugged. "Who knows?"
By dinner, the champions were coming out.
Headmaster Dumbledore read three names out loud.
"Durmstrang, it's Viktor Krum!"
Della screamed "Viktor", like all the girls in Hogwarts.
"Beauxbatons, it's Fleur Delacour!"
Ron yelled, "it's that girl!"
"Don't be stupid, Ron," Fred said gloomily. "You're just a little boy in her eyes."
Ron glared at his brother angrily.
"Don't mess with him now, or you'll regret it," George advised.
Harry, more or less understanding, pulled Ron back. "George's right. Don't mess with Fred now."
Ron loudened out deliberately, "he was taking it out on me for dumped by Della!"
Harry: "…"
George: "…"
Fred stood up, decided to show his little brother what it's called "taking it out on him".
Della heard the last words, asked Hermione perplexedly, "when did I dump Fred?"
Hermione: "…Probably, since yesterday?"
Della stared at Ron. "Nonsense!" But he had been caught by Fred, she found it's no necessary for her to do something.
It turned to the third one.
Headmaster Dumbledore read the last parchment: "The champion of Hogwarts, Cedric Diggory!"
This Hufflepuff got the entire cheers of Hogwarts, the loudest.
The Goblet of fire was out, and it won't be lit again until the next Triwizard Tournament.
Della applauded to the three champions as shook her head in disbelief. "It's not Harry." She was wrong again.
Hermione: "Of course not him! I said he was not old enough!" She stared at Harry and Ron viciously. "You'd better not use… to do something!"
Della: "Invisibility Cloak."
Hermione: "…"
Harry: "…"
Ron gasped, "how did you know that?! Who told you?" He threw a dark look at Hermione.
Della: "It's you. You said this morning, that Harry had an Invisibility Cloak."
Of course, she already knew!
…It was only this morning that I remembered.
Hermione shot a sharp look at Ron.
Harry bowed his head.
Ron didn't believe it: "Me? I won't!"
