Sunken Kingdom Arc opening: Netsujou no Spectrum (Nanatsu no Taizai Op 1)

Italics: Thoughts, talking over long distance

Bold: Attack names, Kaiju speech

Earlier:

"Chujo! They busted through our shields! Hull damage at 18 percent!"

"Keep pushing! We are almost to the wall!"

"HALT! IN THE NAME OF THE MU EMPIRE, YOUR VESSEL WILL CEASE ALL WEAPONS OR WE WILL BLOW YOU OUT OF THE SKY!"

Ok, so maybe Gideon underestimated the defenses of this undersea Kingdom.

For the last hour the Gotengo's push was gradually slowed down, hindered by mounting defense forces of the Empire. The combined effort of the defensive cannons and a seemingly infinite number of defense drones were already difficult enough, but they pushed on regardless. It was when Mu's submarines that returned after hearing of their Empress' message that problems began piling up. Individually the Gotengo is more than capable of handling an odd submersible or 2, but when they began surfacing below them en masse, all firing their laser cannons, there was only so much they could take.

"Gideon!" Gordon called out as explosions peppered around them "We're being overrun."

"It may be time to retreat, Gideon-Chujo." Horace added beside him.

"Captain! Hull damage at 32 percent!" the reports keep coming in. At this rate, even the mighty vessel of the Gotengo cannot go without serious damage.

Gideon gritted his teeth; loathe as he is to admit it, with the combined forces of just nearly every vessel of the Empire, even the Gotengo would be hard pressed to handle such a threat. But they were very near the city, they just need a bit more time.

His hopes were dashed with a roar as the river below them began to froth, to which a massive serpentine dragon leapt out of the water, gappling with the warship and causing the Gotengo to swerve dangerously. Manda had roused from unconsciousness after his grievous injury from the invader within the city. Finding himself drifted miles away from the City, his initial thought was to return to the fight. That was before he felt the creature's Aura diminishing, and found this new threat upon the kingdom he was supposed to protect. Roaring with fury, Manda wasted no time clinging to the ship with his claws and attempted to wind his entire body around it.

Within the ship, sparks were flying as the great dragon's coils wrapped around them. The crew inside scrambled as the ship's controls began to go haywire.

"Captain! The Gotengo's energy levels are plummeting! We can't stay airborne for much longer!"

"Engine 2 has been ruptured, and Engine 3 is in critical condition!"

Douglas Gordon gritted his teeth "Gideon, we have to pull out now!"

Gideon grimaced, this situation had just gone from bad to worse. Not only is the Gotengo their only way in and out of this place, but the lives of his entire crew were now in danger. He could hear the grinding of metal over all the noise, and he knew he had to act fast. He was about to fly towards the dragon when he felt it.

Even this far from the city center, it was unmistakable.

Gideon, being airborne in his Partial Transformation, had been keeping one eye on the battle that took place at the center of the city. In the beginning he never expected to see who had been involved, considering it's only been a couple of weeks since he's first heard of the rising 'Beast Warrior' Gian. Gideon was intrigued when he showed his Full Transformation, and it had been everything that the few stories he acquired said it would be. The Aura he felt had spiked then, but during this whole time his focus had surprisingly not been on the pirate.

For the power behind his aura was quashed easily by another, the mysterious cobra like creature.

To his credit, Gideon's encounter with other Kaiju-Zoan users have been limited to say the least; he's only been a marine for about a dozen years, and during this time there had been 4 separate occasions where he had encountered other Kaiju-Zoan users. Out of these, one of them is a member of a Cipher Pol unit thus their paths rarely crossed. Another was more personal, a former mentor of his, which Gideon tries not to think about but his thoughts occasionally drifts to him. They had both displayed signs of aura, enough to allow the latter to teach him what he knows.

The Aura that he can sense now however, reminds him more of the other two less savory individuals he's encountered.

One had been an infamous and rather nihilistic killer that the young Vice-Admiral finally apprehended, and sent to Impel Down, and that was supposed to be the end of it. The other however was a rogue pirate, unaffiliated with any crew, and whose powers bore a startling similarities to his own. That one, unfortunately, Gideon had much deeper history to, one that he wishes to eventually end. However, that one is currently under the employment of 'Hundred Beasts' Kaido, one of the Four Emperors of the Sea. Reaching him would be nigh impossible, even with the resources at hand.

That aside, their Auras aligned more with the one he felt from the cobra like beast. Malicious, malevolent, full of terror, desolation and death. Only in this case, it is amplified tenfold.

And that means whatever this creature is, it's a massive danger to the surface world should this foreign Kingdom ever decide to unleash it.

Gideon sighed, clenching his fists. He was now caught in a decision on what his next options were.

"The crew… they're depending on my decision… It's just like that time all over again. No! I promised myself I won't let the same fate befall the Gotengo, not by my hand, nor anyone else's… but if that monster were to ever be unleashed by these people…"

He gaze surveyed the city; the capital itself was burning, but Gideon could see that the creature was now restrained by glowing chains emerging from what appears to be a ziggurat, possibly the center of command of this city. Strangely, 'Beast Warrior' Gian's Full Transformation was nowhere to be seen, which raises more questions on just what is going on here.

But it's clear that the chains are not to hold, they were breaking and that monster appears too powerful to contain.

It was something he simply could not risk.

Gideon sighed as he activated the intercom; the crew of the Gotengo will most likely not agree with what he's about to decide.

"Otonashi-san, how much energy do we have left?" the Vice-Admiral said as he flew around, constantly avoiding barrages of attacks.

"Chujo, the Gotengo is currently only operating at 40 percent of its efficiency, and this number is steadily dropping!" the young woman reported.

"Gideon, we have to activate the Electronic Discharge." Gordon told him "If we pump 20 percent of our remaining reserves into it, it should shock this dragon enough to loosen its grip. I'll then use the rest of the energy to push us up to the surface. It's probably-"

"Belay that decision, Captain. I want you to divert all remaining energy into the Absolute Zero Cannon."

Even in the midst of battle, you could hear a pin drop at that proclamation.

"WHAT?!"

"B-But Chujo! We will not have enough energy to escape!" a crewmember stammered.

"We won't even remain airborne after that!" another cried out.

"Gideon, have you gone mad?!" the captain roared "What are you trying to say?"

"The AZC takes 40% to fire does it not?" Gideon closed his eyes "We're gonna fire one last shot."

"AND THAT WILL SPELL OUR DOOM!" Gordon snarled "ALL OF THE GOTENGO'S ENERGY WILL BE USED FOR THAT ATTACK! WE WILL HAVE NO METHOD OF ESCAPE!"

"Gideon-Chujo, this is a very rash decision!" Even Horace was startled by the decision. The Commodore had been someone that Gideon knew for a long time, even before he acquired the Gotengo. In times like this, Commodore Horace had been his anchor, his guide back to reality. Aside from a select few, the man may be the only one whose advice Gideon takes seriously. "The Gotengo is a vital part of the Marine's defense in Justice, your call may have just caused that to disappear!"

"And if what I just witnessed comes to pass, the surface as we know it could disappear!" Gideon countered.

"You're basing this on a hunch?!" Gordon shouted "You would-"

"I'm basing this on what I know!" Gideon shouted "This Kingdom, it has its secrets, secrets that the world above truly isn't ready to face just yet. If we don't stop it here and now, there will be no second chance!"

Gordon grimaced "You've really gone insane haven't you? Your call would have the Gotengo and her crew lost at the bottom of the sea!"

"Chujo! Please think of what you are saying!"

"Chujo! You can't just leave us to that!"

"Gideon!" the Vice-Admiral's eyes snapped open as he heard his Commodore address him, this time without honorifics; in situations like this, it only means one thing.

"Is this your decision to make?" Horace responded yet again "Is this my Captain Gideon speaking, or that despicable hydra that's trying to drive us to our end?"

Gideon felt a pulse within him, but he couldn't help but crack a smile. Time and time again, those words are still one of the few things that keep him grounded.

"I think you know the answer to that, Ensign Horace?" to some people the mislabeling may be a cause for confusion, but for those two men that point, it signified much, much more. The history they've had together, it is a code for something only they know of, and only they can understand.

Regardless, Horace only nodded as he sat back into his chair.

"I know what I'm seeing, Douglas-san" he addressed the Captain of the Gotengo "the final call is up to you."

"Gideon…" the mustached captain's face was now less of rage, but more of hesitation.

"Gordon-san, I know this may seem very sudden, but wherever we are, we are still Marines of the sea." Gideon's voice transmitted over the ship's communication system.

"We are the upholders of Justice, the defenders against villainy. And most important of all, we are the first line of protection for the rest of the world."

"To uphold such values is our very goal, no matter who tries to warp it or deny it." The man continued "I know my justice, what I want to protect and what I want to see prosper. And I also know that, whatever that thing inside this very Kingdom is, must be stopped right here and now. In the off chance we even are able to escape with most of the ship intact, there will be no chance of us ever stopping this threat again. These people here will have knowledge of this ship, they will try to attack us before we can even be ready for an attack. And you can bet, that the thing I saw inside the city, will be leading that charge!"

Gordon paused, his thoughts mixed "Gideon…" He spoke "We are besieged on all sides, what makes you think you know this will work?"

Gideon grinned slightly "Because you're the one firing, of course." His smile dropped "You've trusted me before, captain. Are you willing to trust me again?"

"Cheeky brat…" Gordon shook his head. Gideon was many things: a handful, a smartass, a disrespectful child at times. There have been many moons when Captain Douglas Gordon wondered which god hated him that much to have the Vice-Admiral saddled with him, but he supposed that was just the way the world works.

Of course, during the time they've worked together, Gideon has also never let him down.

And grizzled captain knows enough of a person's worth to know whether or not they know what they're doing.

"Ozaki…" Gordon ordered "Put the Absolute Zero Cannon on Standby." The soldier only gave a slight glance before doing so, but the rest of the crew were much more shocked.

"S-Sencho! You can't be serious!"

"Don't forget who this ship belongs to!" was the only words barked back "He's still your Vice-Admiral, like it or not!"

"Y-Yes sir…"

"When you're ready, fire the AZC 65 Degrees to starboard." Gideon said, his Partial Transformation dissipating as he softly drifted towards the ground. During this time, the Gotengo's bow drill began to light up with a teal blue energy.

"Absolute Zero Cannon, Standby."

It took some difficulty to steer the ship into the direction they wanted, with the massive dragon still constricted around them and all, but they managed to get it in the direction they wanted to.

"Absolute Zero Cannon-"

"Oh Gideon…" Gordon muttered "I hope to God you seriously haven't lost your mind."

"Heh, I don't think that kid has much of a logical mind to begin with." Horace snickered.

"-FIRE!"

And an energy nova of pure cold erupted from the Gotengo's bow drill, searing past all defenses and lancing into its intended target. The overall execution of the weapon was much like the Gotengo's signature Maser beam, with one key difference:

Rather than incinerating the target, it subjects them to an unfathomable cold. Whatever is struck by the beam will have their molecules frozen in a nanosecond, leaving them nothing but a pure sculpture of ice.

And such a weapon costs a hefty amount of energy for the ship, the effect was immediate. No sooner did the weapon fire the Gotengo's engines began to dim and soon went out altogether. The crew braced themselves as they impacted with the ground, skidding across the terrain as they did so. The overall ship was not damaged, but it would be a while before they can fly again.

Gideon watched from the air with a slight grin; the freezing beam struck head on, its effects taking place rapidly. He smiled, he could just barely make out a prone human form below the hulking serpent abomination.

"You don't have to thank me, 'Beast Warrior', I still need you alive after all."

Gideon's Partial Transformation dissipated as he drifted slowly to the ground, where he is immediately set upon by a ring of spears. He made no resistance as he raised his hands slowly.

Soon, the crew of the Gotengo were all restrained and dragged out of the ship. The Captain of the Fangs of Manda stood imposingly, all the while other soldiers trained their weapons on the invaders.

"Our Empress wishes to speak to you." Tal'Shir hissed as he activated a handheld communicator. A digital hologram of the Empress was broadcasted, her eyes serious.

"I am Empress Mulines of Mu, which one of you is in charge?"

"That would be me," Gideon stepped forwards without fear "I am Vice Admiral Gideon of the Marines, we have never heard of Mu before, where have you come from? Why attack us now?"

"Much has happened in the past 2 days, the attacks on your surface civilization was done by a select few groups, not authorised to do so by me." Mulines replied "However, I am more concerned about the vessel you have in your possession. We reside at a depth unreachable by the world above, or so we have thought."

"Not only have you discovered our whereabouts, you've also caused destruction to our kingdom. We cannot allow such a vessel to exist, nor any knowledge of us to leak out to the surface." Mulines declared, and the groups of soldiers sprang into action, ready to pin down the offenders.

"This is your hospitality? You're gonna keep us here? Kill us even just so your little secret never gets out?" Gideon scoffed.

"It does not have to be violent." The Empress stated "If you choose to surrender to Mu, live the rest of your lives down here, we can offer you a society beyond your current advancements. The only thing that needs to be destroyed is that ship. Should you choose to resist however, we will not hesitate to exact judgement."

"Well, aren't you all just a tough crowd?" Gideon sighed "Then I guess I have no choice but to comply." The rest of the crew were at a loss for words as Gideon held his hands out to be arrested.

"Man, it really is a shame though."

"What is?" Tal'Shir questioned. And that's when Gideon broke into a toothy smile.

"I happen to hate being restrained!" and out from the sleeve of his shirt flicked out a small remote control panel, to which the Vice-Admiral clicked a single green button.

The soldiers on the ground immediately pointed their weapons at the man, but that did not stop the missile pods on the side of the Gotengo to pop open, their payload on standby and ready to fire.

"Now, before we continue, how about I ask around about the place for a little bit, hmm?" Gideon's smirk was triumphant "Like why did the sensors on our ship detect a large mass of energy just east of this place? Seems pretty important to leave out in the open, does it not?"

"Y-you-"

"Empress, that's the central generator of the artificial sun!" one of the soldiers shouted out "How did this surface dweller find out about that?"

"Oh my, a generator is it?" Gideon chuckled "I wonder what will happen if I give it a little present?"

"What are you trying to do?!" Mulines demanded.

"What, can't a guy be a bit curious about a new place?" Gideon shrugged "On topic about that generator though, say if I were to shoot a volley of missiles at it, how big of an explosion you think I'll make?"

"Insolent!" Tal'Shir growled, but the holographic Empress held out her hand.

"Do you not see the situation you are in right now? You are in no place to make empty threats!"

"Now, that's a bit harsh. I'll tell you something," his face hardened "that wasn't a threat."

Before anyone could do anything, one side of the missile payload fired, the explosions could be heard by all as they collided with various parts of the ground. Immediately the group erupted into a wave of unease and panic. The missiles didn't actually hit the target directly, but it was close enough to send a message: Gideon wasn't messing around.

"Well, well, judging from your rather unsavory expressions, I take that whatever that generator is its rather important isn't it?"

Even across the hologram, he could see the Empress' displeasure.

"How are you able to utilize your weapons when you're ship is out of power?"

"You're correct on that part, the ship is out of power." Gideon explained haughtily "However, the missile guidance system is a component independent of the main power source. It can be remotely activated even in times when the Gotengo lacks energy." He raised the remote again "For example, moments such as this!"

"Don't you know what you're doing?!" a solider cried out from around him "If that generator becomes too damaged, it will destabilize the energy core used to power the Kingdom's sun!"

"Sounds bad, but at least you won't get heat stroke." Gideon shrugged.

"NO! You don't understand!" Tal'Shir was the one to call out this time "If the Generator blows up, it won't just put of the artificial sun, and it'll cause a chain reaction that will immolate all of Mu!"

Gideon grinned, he has them exactly where he wants them now.

"Hmmm, I do suppose that will be kind of a problem…" he then looked the Empress straight in her eye "Well, I don't exactly feel destructive anymore, so how about we lay out some terms? You fix our ship and let us go, in turn I won't fire the remaining missiles and destroy your precious home. Does that sound fair?"

"You are extorting us!" Mulines accused "Do you take me to be so easily intimidated?"

"On the contrary, I think you're a very strong person if you're the leader of this kingdom. It's that same strength that's gonna get you killed if you don't see things my way."

"You fool! We have weapons and soldiers that have you all in their sights. We'll strike you dead on the spot!" Tal'Shir snarled.

"Do it, and I promise you the last thing I do will be to press this button and send everything on this rock 10000 feet deeper into the ocean!" Gideon raised.

"You do realize if you do that, you will have no chance to escape anyway?" Mulines challenged "You won't get off Mu before it self-destructs!"

"Madame, this is where you realize you don't know me as well as you think." Gideon smirked "You see, we are Marines. In order to stave off injustice and harm that will befall innocents worldwide, we put our lives on the line. If it means I, or any of this crew, have to sacrifice their own lives to prevent you from attacking us ever again, then we're more than willing to do so!"

The Empress gritted her teeth.

"So what's it gonna be? We start talking terms, or I blow this joint up?"

It was silent on all sides, the tension so thick it could be cut by a knife. Then the Empress let out a defeat sigh and looked at the Vice Admiral.

"Far too many lives have been lost today, whether by machinations not by my hand or other ways. We simply wished to be left alone and be disturbed no longer."

"What are your terms?"

Gideon grinned "Smart lady…"

Much Later:

A week later, and everything was seemingly resolved. Surprisingly, Gideon had been rather lenient on his term, simply asking for the Kingdom to use their tech to fix their now downed ship, while asking for lodging for the Gotengo's crew during the repair times. In turn, the Mu made him vow never to make Mu public knowledge with anyone but whoever gives him command, something that the Vice-Admiral agreed with himself. He did however, request that certain information be shared with him alone, promising also never to reveal to Marine HQ about what they've seen down here.

While the Marines have been busy on their end, on the other end of the Spectrum the Straw Hats were making preparations to depart. The time spend during the aftermath of all this had been spent packing, but more importantly helping out with repairing the city. After withstanding a nearly successful coup d'état as well as the assault of an extradimensional monster, the city was in shambles, and every bit of help was needed. Now that they've done as much as they could, they plan to return to the Grand Line the very next day.

But through all this, there was one individual who had been shaken from this whole ordeal. Even though Gian had healed from his injuries long ago, nothing he's seen here will ever be the same.

Bagan's words still haunted his mind, the visions he saw, the fear he felt, it was all too real, and he's still feeling the effects.

The nightmares have returned too, and he hasn't exactly had a good time sleeping in the past few days. The same dreams of the dark times locked up in Ceasar Clown's lab, experimented on due to his power, resurfaced after years of absence. Now however, there's a new twist: when the mad scientist revealed himself, his face was replaced by none other than Bagan, speaking to him in an archaic language before the same mocking cackled rang in his head as he is swallowed by darkness.

It was all becoming overwhelming.

"You're deep in thought again." Robin's voice managed to snap him out of his stupor. Ever since Bagan's ominous message, Gian's headspace has not been in the right place. It was as if that demonic dragon peered into every inch of his mind; he's paranoid even while thinking!

"Sorry, it's been a rough couple of days." Was his response, through Robin's knowing gaze knew that there was more. Ever since he awoke from his exhausted state, the normally active Kaiju-Zoan user had been much quieter, often secluding himself after he was done with his tasks and often deep in thought. It was something not missed by the crew, but whenever Luffy and the others asked him about it he'd shrug it off or act like they caught him thinking.

"Gian, what did you really experience in that battle?" the archaeologist asked again. The Kaiju-Zoan user shook his head.

"We should go, the Empress is expecting us." Robin was about to say more, then thought against it and merely nodded. "There's no doubt about it now, whatever he's experienced has shaken him to the point where he doesn't know what to think."

On the second last day of their stay, Mulines herself had appeared to the Straw Hats, asked for an audience of only Gian and Robin. There were not much details about it, only that they were to meet her at a specific location at the middle of the night. After waiting for the rest of the crew to fall asleep, the two made their way down to where the execution ground were.

The walk down was filled with mostly silence, another sign that Robin noted about her companion's mindset at the moment. Gian, normally the one to start conversation, had hardly spoke a word.

"Why do you suppose the Empress wishes to see us here of all places?" Robin suggested, trying to break the silence.

"I've been wondering that too, perhaps there's something she wants to discuss with us." Gian replied.

"Do you think perhaps it's due to what we've uncovered?"

"Possibly."

They fell into silence again, though unlike the times before when there was a more pleasant feeling when they had no need to speak, this time it was far tenser, as if Gian was avoiding any further dialogue. Robin internally frowned; despite it all she's gotten used to seeing the laid-back First Mate being more extroverted, seeing him like this made her realize that something must be done.

The torches that line the path they walked down were bright enough that they could see the damage done; there were still pillars strewn along the dirt path, the ground gouged up in Luffy's early clash with Manda. What came into view soon after was the sight of a small band of the Fangs of Manda, with Muline's red hair clearly seen at the center of them all.

"Empress, we came as you requested." Gian gave a short bow when he reached her. The Empress smiled lightly.

"There's no need for formalities between us, Gian-san. Especially considering our special relationship." She stated, lightly touching the fading scar on her chest. Gian looked down rather sheepishly.

"The original plan was to merely take you hostage, had I known what the true nature of the situation was, I would've never acted so rashly. I apologize a thousand times."

"So I've been told before. Do not feel guilty about your role, Axor's ambitions had affected all of us." Mulines sighed at that; despite the revelations of his treachery, Axor was still her High Priest up till that point. To think that decades of trust could be broken like that, the thought weighed heavily upon her.

"However, I did not call you two here to dwell on past grievances. I am here to ease your mind on what you have seen that day."

"Empress, I assure you that-" Gian started, but Mulines raised a hand to quiet him.

"It is ok, I have seen what you contain. I'm simply here to clear some of the fog, perhaps ease your mind a little after what you've experienced."

The ground shook slightly as Gian and Robin witnessed the stone behind the Empress part, revealing a dark stair case that soon became alit by torch light, descending deep into the ground. The guards around them stood at attention as the Empress proceeded, beckoning the two to follow her. After giving each other a look, the duo trailed behind her.

And what a descent it was, the stone steps spiraled deep into the ground. Even the light from the fire were just barely able to illuminate their way. Gian and Robin could hear the sound of rushing water in the distance, but they couldn't pinpoint where.

What the light did reveal however, was something the two of them did not expect. The walls of the underwater cave was amassed with carvings, symbols and illustrations of Mu's past.

"To think this kingdom arose from such humble beginnings," Robin noted "I remember reading of it in the vault, but to see it for myself in these records…"

"Mu, like all kingdoms, were faced with adversity." Mulines said "It was always as powerful as it is now. However, as time went by, Mu successfully defended itself from its enemies, eventually becoming one of the most revered kingdoms in the world."

The 3 stopped in front of a large wall, by which the chamber had widened to that of a small cave, where a detailed carving revealed a new sight. 3 figures met, each bearing what appears to be offerings of each other. Each were dressed in different attire, showing they were from different origins.

"During the pinnacle of Mu's power, we eventually conquered many surrounding civilizations." Mulines continued "The state of the world was that only 2 other kingdoms could've matched our strength."

"Then those two," Gian whispered "They are from the other kingdoms?"

"Yes, what you see here is the Gathering of the Founders. Mu's Empress is seen on the right, the other two are representatives of 2 equally great kingdoms."

"I don't believe this…" Robin gasped in awe "This is something I've never read of before…!" in her search for the True History, even she has never encountered any evidence of these former kingdoms, a fact Mulines did not miss.

"It really seems that the surface has forgotten our existence." The Empress remarked "Rather peculiar, considering the 3 Kingdom's influence throughout the ages."

"The other two kingdoms… what were they?" Robin asked agaon.

Mulines closed her eyes "During that time, 3 great nations asserted dominion above all. So powerful were they that we were referred to as the 3 Founding Kingdoms." She pointed to each of the robed figures one by one. "The Kingdom of Mu, with the strongest military might, the Kingdom of Seatopia, with its rich culture and ties to the mystic, and the Kingdom of Atlantis, full of scientific and technological marvel. We stood shoulder to shoulder with Seatopia and Atlantis, our cultures spanned centuries upon the surface world."

"The name Atlantis… the legendary lost city, destroyed in a cataclysmic event. I thought that had been merely a legend." Robin noted "Seatopia however is a name I have no recollection of."

"It seems that the surface does still know some tales, though Atlantis' demise was not due to any disaster." She shook her head "But that's not the point, even though we stood at the pinnacle of civilization, as much as we tried to maintain peace, it was not to last."

Robin and Gian nodded grimly, the implications clear. Indeed, the next few illustrations showed large scale warfare, battles between the 3 kingdoms.

"No one could remember who started the fighting, but the wars lasted over a century." Mulines sighed "And by the end of it all, well, you could probably infer what happened."

"Was that how the other two Kingdoms met their fate?" Gian asked.

"We're getting there, now Gian-san you should pay attention. This next part has something to do with you, or more accurately what you contain." The Empress continued down another set of stairs, with Gian slightly unsettled by that remark.

"For a long time, there seemed to be no end to the fighting. All 3 kingdoms were at a stalemate. It wasn't until the Seatopians presented us with a new adversary that we truly realized we were overshadowed by Others.

And they entered another chamber, the torches within lit up at once. The carvings on the wall showed a massive illustration, one that made Gian gasp out loud.

The Seatopian army, striking down multiple people of the Mu, was not the main focus. What really drew attention was the monstrosity at the head of the army. It was an unholy creature, an amalgamation of what appears to be a bipedal beetle like creature, its forked horn crackling as its arms, tipped with what appears to be sharp drills, swung around and caused the people down below to scatter.

"Your Majesty, is that-" Robin too was shocked at what she's seeing.

"For the longest time, whispers of great beasts of power echoed across our mythology. It was only when the Seatopians unleashed an ancient force that has existed long before we have that my ancestors realized the truth is far more rooted in reality."

"Kaiju…" Gian whispered "The Kaiju, they've existed for this long?"

"Even longer." Mulines replied "For even in the dawn of our civilization, before Mu's kingdom stretched from sea to sea, they have already existed above us."

Gian took a step back, viewing the image with increasingly racing thoughts. This new discovery showed one thing: the Kaiju have not only existed with humanity in their shadows, but fought alongside them, for whatever reason.

"Megalon… God of Seatopia." Robin read a faded inscription carved above the image. "This wasn't a mere Kaiju, the Seatopians worshiped this creature as a deity."

"Indeed, as it was recorded, Seatopia somehow garnered Megalon's favor. It became its appointed guardian, and with its strength began to push the War in their favor."

"And it would've been your downfall, had you've not encountered a Kaiju of your own." Robin deduced.

Mulines smiled lightly "Your intelligence is well-versed, Robin-san. Though, as you have already seen, our initial efforts did not go very well. The dark beast-"

"Bagan!" the two women looked up to see Gian suddenly interrupting "The creature, it told me its name. It refers to itself as Bagan!"

"Gian…" This information was new. Robin never heard her comrade utter a single word up until now.

"Gian-san," Mulines only nodded in understanding "What did you encounter that day?"

Gian fell silent "Right before Robin completed the resealing ritual, it managed to… see into my inner being." It was the best way he could describe that experience "And I into it. What I saw was… beyond horrifying!"

"The world was burning… oceans boiled, the skies were darkened and red… it was the apocalypse, I'm sure of it!"

"They say Bagan's seal existed long before Mu's ascent. It appears to be even more ancient than the Kaiju. When our ancestors called it to this world, it was in reality calling it back." Mulines stated.

"Gian, is this what's gotten you so shaken up?" Robin inquired.

Gian only looked at her briefly before sighing.

"The creature, it said it was split into 3 pieces, scattered to the 4 corners of the world." He recalled "When it comes time for it to reunify into one being, that's when the end shall come."

He looked at Mulines "What does all this mean? And why was I the only one shown that?"

Mulines looked on in silence, before continuing downwards yet another set of stairs, taking them deeper underground.

"Perhaps our final stop will answer some of that." she said "That is, if you're prepared to know."

As the two tentatively followed, they realized that the steps were no longer as dark as before. This time, they could see more carvings along the walls, one that showed a familiar serpentine dragon, doing battle with the same beetle like monster from before.

"You see it, don't you? How eventually we were found by Lord Manda, how we eventually fell under its protection?" Mulines smiled "Lord Manda not only saved us from destruction, but allowed Mu to hold her own in the days onward."

"So at this point, both Mu and Seatopia had a monster at their helm." Robin noted "But all this power must've led to the climax of the war, and the results were not what anyone wished."

Mulines nodded "Indeed, during all that time, we were so concerned about victory, we did not consider the consequences of our growing conflict. No one is sure how exactly the 3 kingdoms were brought to ruin, but it appears that a final cataclysmic battle resulted in Mu sinking into the sea. As for Atlantis and Seatopia, they were lost to history as well, and even as our technology advanced, we could not piece together their fate."

Mulines then stopped; they've reached the bottom of the stairwell, and this time, the chamber ahead of them expanded into what appears to be a massive swirling whirlpool. The stone walls around them were decorated with multiple carved statues of Manda, and as Gian and Robin looked up they could see the exposed sky from down below; the catacombs ultimately led them to the bottom of the sacrificial pit.

"Here we are now, Gian-san. Perhaps speaking with our deity will ease some of your mind about what you've seen."

"Huh? Speaking?" his eyes widened "How do I-?"

The waters around them began to shake, sending waves crashing into the stone. Mulines however remained calm as the liquid erupted and the familiar serpentine form of Manda rose out of the water. This time though, the dragon's eyes bore no hostility, instead regarding the group with an observing gaze. The Empress bowed in front of the great dragon, before rising again and looking Gian straight in the eye.

"Lord Manda will hear you now."

Gian blinked "Uhhh… no offense, but His vocal cords aren't exactly…human."

Mulines shook her head "Perhaps not in your current flesh, no. Such ancient archaic language requires a much more suitable form." Gian's mouth hung open as he pieced together what her point is.

"Y-You mean-?"

"Yes, Lord Manda is a member of the Kaiju race, perhaps one of the last to still exist in his physical form. In order to speak the language of the Ancients, you must assume some of their power."

All this time the dragon's eyes were trained on Gian, his gaze unflinching. Gian, still awestruck, only nodded as blue fire gathered around him. Within moments he emerged in his Partial Transformation, and the words became clear.

"Gojira, long has it been since we've last graced each other's presence."

Manda's voice belied a hint of regality, yet in the face of Gian it seems humble. Still at a loss for words, Gian could only give a slight nod.

"The voice I heard when you first attacked the ship… that was yours!"

"Yes, though the vile priest shackled my mind, he could not contain all of my thoughts." Manda nodded "It was truly shameful what he used me for."

Gian looked back at the two women, while they could hear him fine, the voice of Manda that rang in his head were interpreted as merely growls and sounds from the dragon's throat to them.

"Your Majesty, what does all this mean?"

"Mu has long existed under the shadow of the Kaiju, and even now those influences remain." Mulines explained "You mentioned that you have yet to know the origins of your power, merely which you consumed a strange fruit some time ago and gained the ability to harness a Kaiju's power."

The Empress stood back, away from the whirlpool and gestured for Robin to follow "We must let him speak for himself. There may be answers here, or there could be even more questions."

With them at a distance, Gian turned his face back towards the guardian dragon.

"It's strange, I never expected to be able to communicate with an actual Kaiju, how is this possible?"

"The answer to that, lies within the natural energies that flow in all of us." Manda rumbled "Do you not feel it, each time you transform? The flow that allows us capture the emotions of our kind, to link our spirits, and which gives us power?"

"You're talking about Aura? Is that what it is?"

The dragon nodded "Aura is the primordial energy that flows through every crack in time and matter, the life force that tethers all life to this plane. All living this possess it, but only we Kaiju are able to harness it." Manda leaned forwards, beckoning Gian to raise his hand. In doing so, Gian's eyes saw the dragon in a new light, a yearning to protect filled his thoughts with an ebb and flow like the ocean wave, pulling him in and spitting him back out.

"There's no doubt about it, even though you are human in the flesh, the Spirit of Gojira resides inside you."

Gian shook his head "I don't understand any of this! How can some monster from ages past still live within me? I didn't get possessed by a ghost, all I did was eat a Devil Fruit and that somehow gave me powers."

"And do you recall when you've consumed that fruit?"

Gian blinked; his earliest memories were of Punk Hazard, the lab, and the torturous experiments he underwent. Even by then somehow the fruit had already been eaten by him, memories of times before virtually non-existent.

"I… can't recall… Is that why you refer to me as Gojira? I've read about Him."

Manda nodded "It seems that these Kaiju-Zoans have somehow encapsulated my kin. Since the day of this kingdom's fall, I have made attempts to return to the surface to seek my brethren out, only to find that they have all disappeared." Manda growled "Now, with your power, it's seems that a part of them have somehow returned to this world."

"So even you don't quite know how they disappeared…" Gian sighed, just when he thought he'd get somewhere "Then what of the creature sealed within the palace? Bagan?"

Manda's face darkened at the name "Bagan is of a time from even before the birth of humanity. He is referred to the Progenitor of Kaiju, the First of Us."

"Seems like there's some history between you two, you apparently saved Mu from Bagan's terror all those years ago?"

"Our connection is far older than that, I have existed since before Mu's first cities, and Bagan had existed even longer before that." The dragon lifted his head towards Gian again "Perhaps it is better I show you."

And Aura surged over Gian once more, his eyes clouded before he regained consciousness. He found himself standing atop a clip, his Transformation receded. Before he could say anything, an earsplitting roar sounded behind him. Gian gasped in shock as the same demonic dragon he saw in his vision towered over him. Scrambling to gather energy, he soon realized that the dragon walked by without noticing him.

"This is merely a vision, human, when our spirits merged." Manda's voice boomed around him "When Bagan asserted dominion over the world, he created 8 beings representing 8 elements. Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, Thunder, Poison, Light, and Darkness. They were the Kaiju of 8 Elements, masters of their domain, and they served Bagan's will."

Gian saw the gathering of multiple monstrosities, each brandishing a different look. 3 of them in particular caught his attention; the first was a large olive green colored lizard-like monster perched atop a mountain, a row of long sharp spines on its back and a flexible membrane gathered between its legs. Gian's eyes widened as he recognized it: it was from the same vision he witnessed on Little Garden.

The second was even more familiar, tunneling out of the ground a dog-like reptilian with a single horn atop its head. All too recent memories flooded into Gian's mind, the Incident of Alabasta was only a couple of weeks ago, and his duel with Mr. 0.5 is still fresh in his mind. To think the monster that killer possessed had such an ancient history!

And the third, none other than Manda himself rising out of the ocean, before leveling his gaze with the demonic dragon.

"Manda!" He called out "You were created by him?"

"I was, I am the Beast of Water, and in my infancy I still followed that demon's creed, a mere extension of his will. Bagan's Wrath's lasted for 5000 years, his darkness spread across the land, oppressing all who's exposed to it. His evil grew so much, it would've truly lead to the downfall of the world." Manda's voice stooped with a slight sadness "Our creator was originally a benevolent beast, he sought to protect all that lived from the horrors of other worlds "But Bagan power was growing without limits, and soon he became corrupted. Where he would once protect, he will then see to burning all life from this world."

Gian was subjected to rapid transitions of scenery, each far more haunting than the next. Land being desecrated, entire continents on fire, the screams of millions sounding across it all. The people, still dressed in animal hide and wielding primitive weapons, could do nothing but run as Bagan unleashed white hot fire down towards the masses. It was nerve-wracking, but no matter how his body screamed at him to act, he couldn't do a thing.

"But the 8 Beasts eventually saw the horrors inflicted by their creator. They have been worshipped as deities in our own right, and we saw the potential of humanity and cannot agree with our creator's genocide. In an act of defiance, we struck against the vile dragon. But even with the strength of 8 elements, we were unable to kill him. Only through a titanic struggle, and the assistance of the twin moths, we could only imprison him, binding his essence with the world.

The scene shifted to a vicious battle, 8 monsters simultaneously striking against the demonic dragon. Joining them however were two new beings, a pair of gigantic moth-like monsters, one shining with the color of the rainbow, another coursing with violet energy, its body contrasted with markings of black, yellow and red. Gian witnessed the ground beneath Bagan illuminated with light, several chains bursting out, trapping the howling dragon and imprisoning him as he vanished, roaring in rage.

"The seal… it's just like the one the Empress told me about, except he's fully merged here!" Gian echoed.

"And it was not the end, for Bagan's strength was greater than all. The seal did not hold, and not even a century had past did it become null and Bagan broke from the seal, and his wrath spared nothing."

Manda's voice was filled with sorrow as the scene shifted. Gian watched in horror as the ground cracked open and Bagan re-emerged from his prison, immediately raining fire and brimstone down upon the land. The 8 beasts struck again, but this time Bagan's power was truly evident. Gian could nothing as Bagon slaughtered the 8 beasts 1 by 1. He screamed in anguish as he saw the demonic dragon blast a hole through a olive colored lizard with a centipede like tail with a single blast of white hot plasma, he reached out in futility as he ripped the heart straight out from the chest cavity of a silver quadruped beast glowing with white light. And his tears began to flow as he saw the twin moth try in vain to reseal the demon, only to be set ablaze by a single blast of white fire.

"This power...! Is it even natural?" Gian whispered hoarsely "This isn't a battle, this is an execution!"

"My brothers and sisters perished to preserve this world, but against our creator we could do nothing. He hunted each of us down one by one, until out of the 8, only I, Varan and Baragon remain." Manda's melancholic voice echoed "Even the twin moths, the guardians of the world, were unable to escape his wrath, Bagan burned them from the skies."

The same 3 monsters just so happen to be the ones Gian had some encounter before; he figured Varan and Baragon must be the names of those two. The scene shifted yet again, this time it was another battleground, Bagan facing off against the remaining elemental beasts, but this time there was more.

Rising out of the sea was none other than the monster his Full Transformation was based on: Gojira! And not only that, myriad of other Kaiju surged towards the demonic dragon, daring him to advance one more step. Beneath them, even a large army of primitive humans, fishmen, and other races assembled, somehow allied in the effort to preserve the world.

"It's a last stand!" he realized "One battle to end them all!"

He watched on as Gojira met Bagan head on, only to be swatted aside effortlessly yet staggering to his feet the next. This incarnation was far more bulky than the form he takes in battle, his dorsal spines akin to Miniature Mountains. Gian figures it must've been either an ancestor, or his form just changed with age.

"Gojira, born during the century of Bagan's original imprisonment." Manda's voice dripped with approval "No one knew how his beginnings were, yet a seemingly unknown Kaiju had the power to rival a God."

The battle was vicious and destructive; even with an army of monsters facing against him, Bagan fought with the ferocity of 1000, easily overpowering most that went against him. But as Gian watched, the monsters slowly pushed back. Eventually, in a blinding ray of light, Bagan was split into 3 pieces, one of which Gian realized was the same snake like being he fought not even a week ago.

"Eventually our victory was assured, though not with great loss. The seals were buried far apart from one another, in case Bagan's pieces ever broke from imprisonment to reform. Gojira and the surviving Kaiju would leave, only to reappear from time to time. Meanwhile, I, along with my two remaining brothers vowed to guard the seals for eternity. As you already know, one of said seals is located within this very kingdom. Bagan's fractured body has not the power to break from their prisons, but they've manipulated certain people in the past, including recently, to forcefully release them. It is fortunate that we were able to stop the incursion that occurred here."

And just like that the vision ended. They were back at the pool, Gian once again Partially Transformed. The Kaiju-Zoan user blinked, shaking his head slowly.

"I-I still don't understand, it's clear that the Kaiju predate history, but that doesn't explain how a Devil Fruit is giving me these experiences."

"I do not know the circumstances of these so called Devil Fruits, but with your appearance it could be mean much more. After the demise of this Kingdom, I've attempted to seek out my remaining siblings, only to find that they've vanished from the world. Eventually I could find no trace of the other Kaiju, even the reincarnated twin guardian moths. Now though, with a human like you displaying some of Gojira's power, I presume that I know what became of their fate."

Gian's eyes widened "You aren't suggesting that Gojira's soul somehow become a Devil Fruit and that I've merged with it, that's ridiculous! Yes, there have been theories that Devil Fruits contain the souls of devils, but that's just a theory! There's no evidence of it!"

"There is still much I do not know about the current world, I am only voicing a thought, human." Manda explained "But with Gojira's absence, and now you with Gojira's power and spirit, there is no other explanation. It is good timing too, even as we speak Bagan's seals are weakening and his manipulations course through the minds of people yearning to release him. The time may come for when the power of Gojira will be needed again."

Gian was still in shock over that "I-I-I can't!"

He began to back away "I'm sorry, but this isn't possible. My name is Gian, it is not 'Gojira', and I'm a pirate, adventurer and First Mate of the Straw Hat Pirates. I am no Kaiju!"

"Yet you take his form do you not? Do you not assume his spirit in battle?" Manda questioned "You may not be Gojira in the flesh, but you have his power, and you may have to use them against the coming darkness."

"And they're just powers, that's all they are! Whatever you're looking for, this ain't it. I'm sorry, but I'm just a guy on an adventure, trying to create some memories for his little brother. This whole Kaiju thing has gone way too out of hand!"

And Gian, in his panic, released his Transformation, but not before he heard Manda's last words echo through his head as he slunk back into the water.

"Perhaps you are not ready yet, and perhaps Gojira's spirit may only be inhabiting you as circumstance. But know this: Sometimes the destinies you write, may not in fact be your own."

And Manda was gone, leaving Gian's mind racing over all of this information.

Later:

"Robin, can I ask you something."

Gian and Robin were now returning above ground, with the Empress remaining within Manda's chambers for some ceremonial reasons. They returned to the chamber where it depicts Manda clashing with the Seatopian God Megalon; even now Robin is still processing all this new information. Gian on the other hand, had other things to think about: what little he knows about Kaiju-Zoans have been greatly understated, and it's clear now that whatever he's eaten is by no means an ordinary Devil Fruit.

"Something on your mind?"

"Do you believe that a life is sometimes not your own?"

"Why the sudden interest in this topic?" was Robin's response. Gian was never exactly the type to seek people out for advice, usually just facing whatever's bothing him head on. Whatever he experienced with Manda must've hit him hard.

"I honestly can't say," Robin explained "the circumstances of my life have been far different than say yours or Captain-san's. For me, I've always believed what I've done will eventually lead to something, for better or for worse."

"And what if you found out about something halfway that makes you question everything?"

Robin blinked "Just what did you see?"

Gian gave her a lingering look, then sighed.

"I saw… the First True Kaiju, his name is-"

"-Bagan, you've spoke of its name." Robin remembered "And from what I can tell, this Bagan is more than just a simple monster."

"I've never seen such power! His power, it truly could've destroyed the world! I saw it all, how it took the entire world just to put a stop to his madness!" Gian shook his head.

"And I saw more, I saw the monster I have, what I turn into has been around for that long, this was all thousands of years before humanity even became advanced!"

"And you think that this all means more, is that it?" Robin deduced "Just like back when you received the omen from Mr. 0.5."

"I…I just don't know anymore! I keep telling myself that it's just a Devil Fruit, but what if that's not all there is to it? What if I'm really destined to become 'Gojira'? You said it yourself, there are things I can't control over, and could this be just that? Am I really going to be recognized not as myself, but by the Monster that I hold? Manda says that the world may need Gojira's strength again, but I'm not 'Gojira'!"

Seeing Gian like this made Robin unsure of what to say. The Kaiju-Zoan user was always so sure of himself, his laid back attitude belies a quick witted mind. For the first time, she saw him as vulnerable with all this new information presenting itself to him, and he himself struggling to comprehend it all.

But did he really?

Her whole life she's known that her dream, to learn of the True History, is one that will shake the world. Yet she did not believe she was destined to find it, instead she simply had to. The world will never stop hunting her so the only two options would be to carry forwards or perish.

No, she continued onwards because she thought it was necessary, because she knows that the truth has to be more than what she knows. Yes she may have had to betray and fight just to survive being hunted, but if it means she can find the truth, then it will be something she'll see till the end.

But Gian is different.

It wasn't until recently that he found all the whole depth of how his Devil Fruit goes. He went on this journey for the adventure, but he was swept into so much more.

"Gian," It's strange, he's about the only person she'd refer to by his real name as of late "I will say the same thing as before. What was shown to you may only be one possible path, you are not the absolute, rather, you are just one of many."

"But what if my turn has more at stake than the others! What if everything that should've happened falls to me?" Gian cried "I don't know why it has to be me?."

"What will be, will be. But what will not be may not be. The question is are you going to play along, or will you seek your own truth?"

"That's not really reassuring…"

"Because the truth is that a person's destiny is complicated, one day you make believe you're destined for one path, yet fate throws you a curve and takes you in a different direction. You can choose to believe that that was the real direction all along, or accept that there are surprises in the world." Robin explained "You mentioned it yourself: You contain the power of a monster, the monster is a part of you, but it does not define you. You're Gian, First Mate of the Straw Hat Pirates, resident smart ass and badass, and handsome rogue living with a bunch of nerds. No giant monster is going to define who you are. Is that not what you tell yourself, or did I recall that epithet incorrectly?"

"…You remembered that whole thing?"

Robin allowed herself a wry smile "You only preach it once every 3 hours!"

"Hey!" Gian can't help but grin at that "I'll have you know I'm changing that whole description just to spite you!"

"I wouldn't bet on it." And Gian laughed at that, for the first time in a couple of days. He doesn't know how, but Robin's words made all of his doubts melt away.

"Thank you, Robin. Really." Gian smiled, genuinely grateful "I guess I really let my mind slip didn't I?"

"It happens to all of us, you were merely pondering your way is all." Robin smiled as well "Just remember, what you think is your destiny may happen, or it may fall to someone else. If it's the latter, continue on your path-"

"And if does happen to me, give em hell!" Gian grinned "God it feels good saying that again!"

And it happened swiftly, Robin couldn't react in time. Gian's arms were already around her, wrapping her in a warm embrace. She couldn't help but let out a short gasp, the sudden intimacy made her at a loss for actions.

This time the hug lingered, Gian didn't let go awkwardly or hastily, and when he did his eyes were full of appreciation.

"You really are the only one I can say these things to." He smiled "Thank you for being here, I'm glad you're with us."

"Oh… W-Well I'm glad I can be of service." And Robin's cool composure returned, briefly unsure of what to do. She wanted to say something else, but found that she had no words.

"…It's quite late, we should be getting back to our rooms, and it would be time to leave tomorrow after all." The archaeologist finally stated.

"Ah, right. Of course! Why don't you go on ahead? I want to look at this for a while longer."

"Very well, don't get lost." Robin nodded. As she left, she turned back and gave the Kaiju-Zoan user one last look. A growing smile played on her lips as she thought back to earlier events, before she shook them off and departed.

"I'm not Zoro! I know my way around places!" Gian called after her. Chuckling and shaking his head he glanced once again at the massive mural of the War between 3 Kingdoms.

"Manda and Megalon… I wonder why Atlantis didn't have a Kaiju?"

"It's amazing isn't it? So much hidden from us, lost in the most unknown places only to be found by the most unlikely of people."

"I thought you said you were-!" Gian, originally believing Robin came back for a second, turned.

What he saw was someone that he never expected. He should've known, after all Robin did not have a man's voice.

"W-Who are you?"

The blonde man in the golden Marine outfit walked out of the shadows, a wide smile on his face.

"Me? I'm not really much, just someone who's after a few things. On the other hand I've heard a lot about you, 'Beast Warrior' Gian! You've been up to some crazy adventures lately, haven't you?"

"Yeah, uh, about that…" Gian laughed nervously as he stepped back towards the stairs "It's getting real late and I have places to be tomorrow, so I'm going back to bed." He's heard the news, an advanced Marine ship attempted to attack the Kingdom only to be struck down. Now he figured that they managed to find their way to him.

But he didn't get anywhere. Gian had to do a double take as the Marine appeared in front of him!

"Hey, Hey! Take it easy man!" despite the smile, no doubt there were some underlying motives within "I just wanna talk! What's the rush?"

"Listen, I'm sure you're a great guy, but if I remember correctly the marines that were maroon here are under Mu law and aren't supposed to be upholding their duty." And Gian tried to force past him, only for the Marine to latch an iron grip on his arm.

"I already told you, I just Want. To. Talk."

"Look here! I'm not-" and then it happened, both men's aura's burst to life the moment they made contact. Gian's a pure blue, the Marine's a shining gold.

"Y-You're a-"

"Ohhh, he's fierce, that one." The Marine chuckled "But yes, I am just like you. We both have monsters inside us."

Gian tentatively took a step back, the blue aura still surrounding him. He couldn't explain it, but the moment the Marine made contact with his skin, it was as if he felt some strong emotion burst inside of him, one akin to anger and rage.

"Now, with that out of the way, I'll introduce myself. My name is Gideon, I'm a Marine Vice-Admiral. I've actually been looking for you since I crash landed, but I never got the chance. Leave it to fate for arranging this then!"

"…They're letting 12 year olds be Vice-Admirals now? What with the clothes?" was all Gian could muster out. Deep down, he was panicking! Gideon's own Aura was immense! Still a way from overpowering like Bagan's, but one that's forcing his attention nonetheless. And the fact that He's a Vice Admiral? So young and already having that high of a rank. This Marine must be powerful indeed.

Gideon laughed at that "Oh, Smoker-Senpai wasn't wrong about you! You really do have a mouth on you! Don't worry about this, I like to be flashy!" Gideon's eyes were red now "But yeah, I was gonna tell you something. That emotional tirade you had back there, almost brought a tear to my eye!"

"Y-you were listening?"

"Was in the room long enough. I was actually looking for the secrets you wish to know too! Gotta say you're taking it rather well!"

"W-What are you saying…?"

"I'm saying I agree with you of course, or should I say I agree with Nico Robin. You should be wary of that woman by the way, every time she appears nothing good can happen."

"Leave Robin out of this, she has nothing to do with any of this." Gian growled.

"Yes, yes, that's beside the point. I'm trying to say that whatever power you have, whatever destiny that'll come. It all means nothing in the end! What matters is your actions, and how you take the events coming to you!" Gideon's grin dropped "That said, they wouldn't be worries if there weren't a sliver of truth to them."

"You seem to know more than you let on…!" Gian frowned "What's the real reason why you're looking for me?"

"Do you know of the story of the Twin Dragons?" Gideon asked.

Gian blinked "Twin Dragons?"

"The world speaks of an infernal dragon, breathing blue fire, will storm out of the East. Gold meets ash, Earth meets sky. The twin drakes with rip this world to its roots." Gideon recited "It's an old saying a former mentor of mine taught me. I used to think it's just something told to kids, but after doing some research, I have a hypothesis that it has something to do with this."

Gian watched as Gideon's Aura began to warp, the surrounding golden glow fanning into the shape of a pair of wings with 3 draconic heads circling above it. He gasped as his own Aura heated up, the blue light radiated into azure colored flames as it took the form of his Full Tranformation.

"W-What is this reaction?!" the dominating feeling from before returned, this time feeling as if it's pushing against something equally powerful.

"It's as I suspected, these two Kaiju have a deep history with one another." Gideon closed his eyes and focused; the golden aura dissipated instantly, as did Gian's own.

"You see, I've eaten the Ryu Ryu no Mi: Model Ghidorah, it's power is unimaginable, so much so that it rages against me every time I use it. I can only use my Full Transformation sparingly, otherwise I… lose my direction if left unchecked." Gideon explained, a distant look in his eyes when he said that.

"Rage against you? You mean that your devil fruit has a mind of its own?!"

Gideon shrugged "Unlikely, I'm sure it's just because I haven't figured it out quite yet. Though if the theories I've found prove correct that might be the only logical explanation. I'm sure you feel it yourself, don't you? Each time you use the Goji Goji no Mi's power, you feel a strain on your mind, becoming more and more unshackled?"

"You know that much about me already?" Gian accused, before shaking his head "And no, can't say I have. I've always been in control when I use it."

"Interesting, perhaps you haven't tapped deep enough yet." Gideon pondered "But I'm getting off track, as I said, our dragons have history with one another. I haven't found out the reason, but from what I've gathered, their conflicts are serious. As in, destruction of entire islands serious."

"Why are you telling me this?" Gian growled.

Gideon leaned forward and grinned "Because you're interesting! You're approaching this Kaiju-Zoan business in a different way than most. Whereas some of the other people I've encountered who have similar powers either disregard it completely or actively embrace their new abilities, you seem to be curious about the reasoning behind it all. That, and the fact that should the day come when our beasts must have their battle, it will greatly affect the order of the world as we know it. So be prepared."

Gian balked at that "You think I'm just going to listen to what a few aged manuscripts have to say? You're far too superstitious for a Vice-Admiral that way!"

Gideon's glare is cold "Did you know that in every record I've read, my monster is considered not a savior, but a destroyer of worlds? It's ironic, isn't it, a man who pledged himself to justice yet bonding with such a destructive horror?"

"But I won't have that, I will prove that I can handle this power, I will use it to be an Envoy of Justice across the seas! This monster will not define what I can or cannot be!"

Gideon turned and smiled "Sounds familiar doesn't it? Yeah, you and I have a lot of similar thoughts. Which only makes our eventual confrontation all the more personal."

Gian's fist clenched "And you really believe this?"

"Not quite, though I haven't been wrong before." Gideon smiled, hoisting his cape over his shoulders.

"Well, I suppose I kept you here long enough. There's a few more things I want to know here myself, so you run along now."

Gian looked at the blonde Vice-Admiral again, before shaking his head and pushed past him.

"Oh, and one more thing. We're technically under a cease fire right now, but you're still a pirate and I'm still a marine. No matter what Smoker-senpai's pride does to him, inwards he knows that justice has to come first. I'm letting you go this time, but if we ever run into each other in the Grand Line, I will show you no mercy." Gideon warned.

Gian looked back, the fire burning inside him flickered to life once more "Try it then, I promise the same if you come after my nakama."

Gideon only grinned before disappearing into the cave

"That's what l like to hear."

The next day:

"We're finally back at the surfaceeeee!" Usopp and Chopper sighed as they sprawled out onto the deck. Nami shook her head and sighed.

"Our guests are still here, show some respect!" she gestured to the submarine floating next to them "That being said, as wild as that journey was it really is time to be back into more familiar waters!"

With all said and done, it was time for the Straw Hats to resume their journey! Within the submarine, a few of the people they've encountered on this crazy detour had come to see them off.

"We're gonna miss you guys!" Kubo waved at Usopp and Chopper.

"WWWWRROOOOAAAAGH! WE DON'T WANT TO LEAVE JUST YETTTT!" The two children cried.

"Make sure you get stronger." Wuhelm grunted. Sanji only glared back.

"Oi, I won that fight, you shitty monk!"

"I look forward to having a spar should we ever meet again, Zoro-san." Tal'Shir said to Zoro, the swordsman nodded back.

"I'll be waiting."

"It's strange." Sara stood with Nami, Gian and Robin beside her "I always wanted to see the surface, but now that I got more chance to, it makes me miss home."

"Oh yeah, The Empress gave you a new title!" Nami remembered. With the extent of Sara's assistance, most of her crimes had been absolved. However, due to her being an accomplice of the High Priest, Sara's punishment was having her own priestess title stripped. Instead Mulines named her as the official Envoy of Mu, where she will spend all but one month at the surface world, locating and securing lost ruins that the former Mu Empire left behind.

"I think it's a good deal really." Gian said "With the recent clash of history, perhaps it's time to slowly ease the world into knowing about you guys."

"Yes, that's correct." Robin smiled at him "Sometimes it's better to stop hiding and blend in with the crowd."

"That may be." Sara smiled, before her earpiece blinked "Ah, the Empress wishes to say a few final words."

The hologram of Mulines shone to life as she greet each of the Straw Hats. Being the Empress, she couldn't leave the Kingdom, instead opting to help restoration efforts. Even so, she cannot just let their saviors leave like this.

"Honored Guests, though you came with the mere intention to observe, we ended up casting you into our web of mistakes. Yet even through this, you cast that aside and put your own lives on the line for us. Had it not been for you guys, the Mu Empire would've surely been lost forever. You are all heroes of Mu."

"Now hold on!" it was Luffy who cried out "I'm not a hero, I'm a pirate!"

"Your titles are irrelevant, it is your actions that spoke to us."

"But I don't want to be a hero! When a Hero finds meat he's going to share it with other people. But I want all the meat!" Luffy protested.

Everyone sweatdropped at that comment.

"T-That's his reason?" Gian groaned.

"LUFFY DON'T SAY THAT IN FRONT OF THE EMPRESS!" Nami screeched.

Mulines only chuckled at that before going into the second part of her speech.

"Our kingdom has suffered, and it may be a long time before we meet again. However, instead of sticking to the laws of old, perhaps it is us who must advance. There may be one day when Mu will return to the surface, but until then I want to say that you will all be more than welcome in Mu should you ever visit again!"

"That's so sweet!" Chopper beamed.

"Yeah! I want to come back to Mu one day!" Luffy agreed.

"Yeah, if the Empress ever needs surgery again, hit me up!" Gian raised his hands, only to be meet with a bunch of deadpans.

"…Too soon?"

"You can be very annoying…" Tal'Shir growled.

"Tell us about it, we have to deal with this daily." Nami sighed.

"Yup, shouldn't have said that." Gian grinned sheepishly, before his face became appreciative.

"Thank you for what you showed me, your majesty, it's much needed information."

"I'm glad you could make the most of it, Gian-san."

And with a few more farewells, the Mu submarine sank back beneath the depths, taking with them, a tale of two worlds.

"YOSH! Now let's get back to our adventure!" Luffy cheered before hoisting up a large bag that the citizens of Mu graciously put together for them as a going away present. "Sanji, let's eat! Those underwater guys have really delicious food!"

"That looks like it could feed us for a month!" Sanji groaned "They just got out of a crisis! How much did they give you?!"

"A month?" Gian snorted "With Luffy's stomach I'm giving it 2 weeks tops!"

"…I know, that's why I'm worried." Was the cook's response.

And soon the Going Merry set sale once more, leaving its crew to once again lounge around in an all familiar sun.

"You're looking brighter today." Robin commented as she saw Gian leaning on the railing, observing the sea. The Kaiju-Zoan user gave a smile back.

"What can I say? Being back in the sunshine brings out the best of me!" Robin chuckled at that before moving closer and to stand next to him, the two watching the ocean in peaceful silence.

"LOOK! Sea Kings!" Usopp suddenly pointed, and every one gasped as multiple massive sea creatures surfaced near them, paying them no notice. Soon the reason for their arrival made itself known as a familiar sea dragon surfaced, its eyes gazing over the crew.

"Hey it's the dragon!" Luffy laughed "Hey dragon, remember me?"

Manda only let out a bellow before diving down into the deep once more, though not before locking gazes with Gian for a split second. The man only smiled and nodded back as he looked at his hand, a soft blue fire gathering within his palm.

"No matter what happens, no matter what my destiny is, I'm still going to be 'Beast Warrior' Gian, and I'll make sure I use this power to help everyone on this crew achieves their dream!"

Far away:

Going in the other direction, the crew of the Gotengo were in a much more serious mode. There were reports to be made, reassurances needed to be dealt out and explanations required. Gideon sat during all this, observing the activity. For all the Mu have, their technology truly were marvelous, and they managed to repair the Gotengo within a week's time.
"That ought to be Sticking it to the World Government"
Gian thought.

"Sengoku just called, he's agreed to try to cover this up as much as he could, as long as he knows every detail." Gordon informed him.

"Wow I thought he'd be more pissed." Gideon shrugged. Gordon only grinned.

"He is, good luck when you get back!"

"Figures…" Gideon shrugged, before showing a much softer look.

"Thank you, for trusting me."

Gordon cocked an eye at him "You? Being thankful? Who are you?"

"Oh stuff it and take the compliment!"

Gordon laughed and popped open a bottle of Budweiser "Just do your job, kid." Though he said that with smiles. Gideon only grinned and exited his seat to return to his room. He hasn't called anybody in the past week; surely Tashigi would be worried about him by now.

"Your control is getting better." A voice called from behind him, Gideon turned to see Commodore Horace walking up to him, the two giving each other a salute "These people trust you, more so than ever."

"Sometimes I wonder how long I can keep that trust." Gideon sighed "Considering what I did, it was a surprise that I even got this ship to command."

"Gideon," In their personal moments, Horace is close enough to address him without the proper rank "What happened that day wasn't your fault. We didn't know the risk-"

"-And we paid the price because of it." Gideon finished for him, looking down at Horace's metallic prosthetic, the grizzled man only smirked, rubbing his good hand over it.

"Sometimes, life just takes you by surprise. It's what you take away from it that counts."

"And my lesson was never to go out of control again. I won't let the same tragedy befall this crew, I will not."

"I know you won't, Gideon-chujo."

Later, in his room, The Vice-Admiral laid on his bed.

What he found within that underground chamber had been…revealing, to say the least. The Empress was gracious enough to let him use it for as long as they wish. And his conversation with Manda, an actual living Kaiju, had shown him even more.

His thoughts glazed over about the history with his Devil Fruit. In the almost 12 years since he's joined the Marines, 10 years since he's obtained his powers, he's never thought much more about it. Although recognizing the importance of having steady control, to him the Devil Fruit is just a tool, even with all he's discovered.

It was what Manda had said that really pushed his mind.

Perhaps one day the world will need monsters. Perhaps on that day Justice must be dealt.

But to Gideon, that all doesn't matter to him.

"Ancient Monsters, reawakened gods, none of that matters to me. I will use this power to protect the people who need it, and eliminate all who threatens the world's peace."

A/N: And this is it, my first original arc, ending with this absolute monster of a chapter!

Get it, Monster of a chapter? Because the story is about Kaiju and-

G: BOOOOO! GET OFF THE STAGE!

Screw you!

Well, overall this whole arc had been a learning experience that Original Arcs take time and need planning. Trying to tie in things that will move the story along is a lot harder when you already have content to base it on! And this chapter was the big example to all that! I originally only planned a small chapter with 7-9k words, but the more I added the more I realize it was needing time to explain. Thus this mega chapter of over 13 thousand words is probably the largest I've ever made. I basically wanted to drop a bunch of information about lore that will come back later on in the series (There was even a part that got cut! It'll come back in a later chapter but it just goes to show how much investments I'm putting into making this whole Kaiju thing feel as less out of place as possible. An example would be the 8 elemental beasts shown in this chapter. (Who, once again, has their origins based on what Matt Frank did for his Godzilla Neo series! Seriously go support him his art is amazing) so overall this chapter might feel really slow to read for some people, but I really wanted to try to give this story a bit more of an identity. If you can last through it all, I promise I'll get better!

But we're done now, and we can move on. When I come back, it will finally be time to go to Water 7, and trust me I'm as excited as you are! As promised, the guide book for this story is also been written, and you'll likely see the first part explaining more about Kaiju-Zoans up by next week! I know we've been really serious for the last couple of chapters, so let's make it a little more into the One Piece spirit!

G: But didn't you say this is the part where things start to get more mature?

Oh… yeah that's true.

G: Go to sleep.

Yeah, I'll see y'all next time!

To Karsap:

G: He… actually forgot what they were

I haven't been focusing on this for a while

To Boggie445:

Honestly I don't know what's harder, trying to adapt canon arcs around the plot you made or writing an original arc that just became really outrageous, it's a tough balance.

Anyway, I've explained that the Davy Back Fight will only be referenced in flashbacks. The entire arc imo honestly adds nothing to this story. Only the encounter with Aokiji will be in, as you'll see next time.

To Darkmaster10000000:

My update schedule is still hectic, school's a bitch haha.

I have not, I haven't actually contacted Xomniac at all. I don't know if they even know about this story! Though 'This Bites!' is honestly one of the best One Piece fics out there!

G: Hand me the lewds.

Gian stop there are kids in this server.

To Chance Green G King:

You'll see the new CP9 Kaiju-Zoan next chapter, I'll give you that much!

To Raidentensho:

By now, I actually have an 80% plan with Gamera, probably will be along the lines of a 3D2Y original arc.

Gi: Team ups are fun

G: Yeah but we couldn't fit it in.

To Mad King Qrow:

That's you for reading this!

To coduss:

We're using a lot of origins for Bagan here, I want him to be as powerful as he can be.

And I have a plan for Biollante already, it's in a more recognizable movie!

To Matt:

G: What does my stand think?

That's not a- you know what I'm too tired for this.

To Lelouch Strife:

Godzilla Earth is another completely different beast I am having trouble wrapping my head around.

To leopard23jose:

G: We got the best bromance!

Dude Chopper's like 8 years younger than you.

To Haruaji11:

I'm glad you think so! I have a lot of stuff coming up!

To C.S. Skywalker:

G: THIS BITCH? PLEASE! His dorm internet is god awful so he can't play online, plus he broke af so nothing but necessities for him at least until next year!

Let's just say something happened with student loans and it ended up not paying all my semester's tuition… so no switch for a while, But one day, ONE DAY!

I really tried to add the Blue Flame imagery as Gian's Aura. It's a concept I haven't been exploring a lot and I'm hoping to get that in more as the story goes on. Glad you think the flow is better, I might've just ruined that but hopefully not!

G: And yeah! Why hasn't my girl gotten any action in recent chapters?

I mean the chapter that just came out is pretty nice.

G: True.

To Guest:

Bagan was a planned Kaiju for a couple of movies, but for one reason or another all got scrapped. The only appearance he made so far is in a SNES game called Super Godzilla, which his design here is based off of.

To The 1 and Only Logan:

G: I'm listening

CHRISTAN SERVER GIAN

And yes, there will be female Kaiju-Zoan users. One especially is a very well-known kaiju. She was actually supposed to cameo in this chapter, but I ultimately pushed her appearance back to a more appropriate part.

G: Jump Force is bad.

It's not bad, its pure fan service they did all they could. I mean do you honestly think they'd choose Robin over say Zoro or Sanji?

G: I meant that twitter video you saw

Oh… yeah that was pretty bad.

And that's all! We'll see you next time!

G: DEAD MEME!
