Lei pounded her fists down hard on the tabletop, and leaned forward glaring at Samo. "You fat bastard! Me an' Yun have'ta eat too, ya know! Stop stealing all the grub!"

"L-lei, it's all right with me." Yun said quietly, always the peacemaker. "He can have my share. I-I don't need much."

Samo grinned at Yun around the mouthful of food he was eating, already reaching for his plate. "Thanks! You're a real pal, Yun!"

But before he could snatch up the plate, Lei whacked his hands away. "Ya can't have Yun's food either!" She transferred her glare to the other boy. "The Old Man's coming back tomorrow, and you've gotta be in top shape when he takes us out to train. That means ya can't starve yourself just 'cause ya don't like fighting!"

"But, Lei, I'm hungry," Samo whined, staring forlornly down at his empty plate.

"Then get your fat ass into the kitchen and get cookin' if ya want more than ya already had! An' Yun, eat your damn grub unless ya want to be force fed."

She sat back, feeling strangely proud of herself for resolving the situation without pounding Samo into the dirt, as Samo grumbled but followed her order, and Yun ducked his head and picked up his chopsticks.
