Julius has chosen five people to become a new team of Power Rangers. When he brought them together, they all experienced magic for the first time...almost all of them. Asta was the only one who wasn't able to use magic.

"I don't get it. The rest of us can use magic. Why can't he?" Finral questioned.

"A good question." Julius said.

"But after what I just saw, I do believe in magic. I don't understand." Asta said. He thought he had the chance to be something special and amazing, but it looks like he can't without the use of magic. "Listen, I need to go. I got people who were expecting me back a long time ago." He just left as he wasn't sure what to do now. He clearly needed some time to think, but the rest of them were a little sad to see him go.

"Without all five, the team isn't at full strength." Julius said as he knew this was bad. They weren't the only ones aware of this. Someone was spying on them. He stepped away from what happened so that he could speak privately.

"Dante, can you hear me?" The man said.

"I do, Zenon." A dark magic circle appeared in the air so the two brothers could talk. "What is it?"

"The first set of spades I unleashed were defeated. It would seem you might have found the fighters you were looking for." Zenon said.

"Already found some people, have we?" Dante said. "I knew you were the right person to choose to lead the first attack. See what they are truly capable of. Let's find out of they are worth their time."

"As you wish." Zenon said as he dispersed the circle. The rangers might have recently been formed, but it seems like they are already dealing with many different kinds of trouble.

...

The Rangers' Base

"This is so cool." Vanessa said. Now that she's discovered her magic, she keeps playing around with her threads. Finral played with his magic too as he teleported around the place.

"I can't believe we can actually use magic." Finral said. "Just imagine all the girls I could take with this sort of power."

"I always knew I was meant for something special." Noelle said as she balanced around a water ball on her hand. "Wait until others know about it.

"Not quite." Julius said. "No one can really know what's going on here. You must keep your identities a secret for the safety of so many."

"I don't care. I'm just glad I get to fight." Luck said as he literally zipped around. Vanessa and Finral can obviously tell Luck's going to be a bigger problem with magic.

"Anyway, what about Asta?" Vanessa said.

"What about him? He obviously can't use magic, and that means he can't help us." Noelle said.

"I wouldn't be too sure about that." Julius said. "The team isn't complete without five rangers. We must find a way to complete the team."

"Yeah, but are we sure we even want to do this." Finral said as he still seemed rather nervous. "I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't really want to hurt anyone, even if they are those same guys we fought before."

"You don't have to worry about hurting anyone, Finral." Julius said. "Spades are mindless and soulless soldiers. They have no freewill and are incapable of thinking for themselves. As far as I'm concern, they're nowhere near alive." That did sound a little reassuring for Finral to fight. Just then, the crystal ball began to shine and they were being alerted of danger.

"Again?" Noelle questioned. Julius looked inside and saw spades moving through the woods.

"It's back in the woods, and there's a source of dark magic there that's powerful." Julius said. "You all should go and see what this is about."

"You're not coming with us?" Finral questioned.

"You need to learn to fight your own battles. Besides, there's something else I must attend to." Julius said as he was on his way out down the stairs. "I'm sure you'll all do fine. Just call on your powers to help you in this fight."

"I'm so excited!" Luck said.

"One more thing!" Julius called. "Dont' take anything! You break it and you buy it!" That part was a joke, but they need to be able to stand on their own two feet.

...

The Church

Asta was pretty disappointed that the magic didn't seem to work for him. He was going to need time to get his head around the whole thing. He was really looking forward to being a ranger, but it looks like that can't be the case. In the meantime, he got the grocery order and made his way back to the church.

"There you are." Yuno said as he, Nash, and Sister Lily were out front.

"Glad you're back. We were starting to get worried." Sister Lily said as she took the box of groceries.

"Sorry. Someone just needed some help, that's all." Asta said.

"Are you okay, Asta?" Yuno asked as he could tell something was wrong.

"It's nothing." Asta said as he didn't want to talk about it. He reached for his mana morpher and just stared at it. Being named a ranger gave him some hope, but now it seems like he can't be one. Not being a ranger appears to have crushed him.

"What is that thing?" Yuno said.

"It's... It's nothing. I just found it." Asta said.

"Well, at least you got some groceries." Nash said. "At least you didn't messed that up. I was thinking that you were daydreaming about those silly dreams of yours." Asta was getting a little tired of Nash trying to bring him down like that, but he wasn't in the mood for it now. "Get real, Asta. You're not going to get as far as you think."

"Nash, knock it off." Yuno said.

"Excuse me." All of them looked and spotted Julius there with Asta surprised to see him.

"Can we help you?" Sister Lily asked.

"Yes. This kind young man helped me out earlier." Julius said as he referred to Asta. "I would like to thank him properly. Could you all leave us to talk in privately." They allowed that as the three of them went back inside the church. "Lovely church."

"Yeah..." Asta said as the two of them walked away from the church. "It's not much, but we're doing our best. It's the closest thing we have to a home."

"Have you lived here long?" Julius asked.

"My whole life. I never knew my parents and have been here since I was just a baby." Asta said. "We're all orphaned and poor. Since we are, a lot of people think we're not going to be anything special or amazing. Even Nash is starting to lose faith and he's just a kid. I never believed any of that. I never saw why it mattered if a person is rich or whatever. It should matter more on what kind of person they are. That's what I thought, but after..." Asta couldn't bring himself to say it. "Julius, please. I want to be able to help, especially if everything you said is true."

"That's why you want to be a ranger, why you were happy to be one." Julius said. "Given your position, being a ranger would have made you a fine example that truly anyone can be something special. I agree with the way you think, Asta. I believe you could be on to something Asta."

"But why? Why didn't the magic work?" Asta questioned. "Why did nothing happen? I want to be able to help. My whole life I've been given the short end of the stick. I want to show that even if I am broke, there's no reason I couldn't be something amazing. You said faith works in mysterious ways, but why does it have to be like this for me and all of who inside the church. I want to be able to help you, I want to be a ranger. So why can't the magic work?"

"Sometimes it takes people a little harder to believe to use magic." Julius said. "Asta, there is something special about you. I could sense it."

"I want to believe that, but it seems like there's nothing I can do." Asta said. "I can't be some hero or anything."

"Then, why were you the first to speak up for the old woman when she needed help?" Julius questioned.

"How did you know that?" Asta questioned. Julius showed him with his magic as he revealed that he was the old woman. "You?! That was all you?!" Asta said as he couldn't believe it.

"Asta, do not doubt yourself." Julius said. "You must have been through a lot growing up, and perhaps now it's starting to get to you. It looked like you were picked for something spectacular, but was pushed away. You can't let that stop you. The rangers aren't at full strength without their being five. Life has been hard on you, but your will is strong. The rangers could use something like that, especially now."

"What do you mean?" Asta questioned.

"There's trouble in the woods." Julius said. "The other rangers have gone to investigate it, but there is a dark power there. They might need help against it." Asta didn't like the sound of that at all. Knowing this now, can he really just stay here.

"Asta, does this guy want to..." Yuno called as he came out, but saw they were both gone. "Asta?"

The Woods

When all of them were alerted of the danger, the four rangers went straight back to the woods. Now that they have a better understanding of what they're up against and what they're doing, they might be ready for it.

"Are we heading the right way?" Finral questioned as they made their way through the woods.

"I think so." Vanessa said. "I'm sure it's right around here somewhere."

"It would have been easier if this guy would just have teleported us to where we had to go." Noelle said.

"He said we have to stand on our own two feet." Vanessa reminded. She kept walking until she walked right into Luck. "How about a warning when you suddenly stop."

"We're close. There's something here." Luck said. "Oh boy. I can just feel that this is going to be really cool."

"What is wrong with this guy?" Noelle questioned.

"No one has a clear answer to that." Finral said.

"Uh... Guys..." Vanessa alerted them as she saw someone coming. All of them looked as they met with Zenon for the first time. With a strong gust following him, they could just feel something ominous about this guy.

"It looks like I found you. Now, let's see if you are worth the challenge." Zenon said.

"Who are you?" Vanessa said.

"My name is Zenon, a member of the Dark Triad. My siblings and I have opened the gateway to the Netherworld and shall spread terror and destruction through this whole world."

"You opened the gateway? That must mean this guy and his siblings are the ones who are causing all of this." Finral said.

"I witnessed your earlier battle. You four aren't like most mortals." Zenon said. "Time to test your true power." Zenon showed some of his own dark power as his form began to change as he reached for his coat and tossed it aside. He was now wearing bone-like armor on his arms and legs with a ribcage structure over his chest. He also gained a white helmet with a black visor covering his entire face with white horns coming out of it. The transformation had them all a little freaked, but they tried to stay brave.

"Nice costume change. Let's see our own." Vanessa said as she held out her mana morpher. "Let's do it guys." All of them braced themselves for anything as they got ready. "It's morphin time!"

"Mana Morpher!" All of them said as they held their morphers to their chests like a solute. "Magic Calling!" They swung their morphers diagonally down with their morphers flipping open and the power being released from a tiny vortex in the morphers.

All of them held out there morphers. They that happened, magic flowed out with them gaining their ranger attires. Not only that, but a sword for each of them shot out of their morphers and into the sky. They placed their morphers right in the center of their belts with them gaining their helmets. When their swords came down, each of them caught it and readied themselves for battle.

"Blue Magic Knight Ranger!"

"Green Magic Knight Ranger!"

"Yellow Magic Knight Ranger!"

"Pink Magic Knight Ranger!"

"Wow! This power feels amazing!" Vanessa said. "Just look at us. I'm pink, my favorite color!"

"I'm blue, and you're right. I've never felt more alive." Noelle claimed.

"I'm green, and I feel like I can do anything!" Finral said.

"I'm just itching to see what I can really do now!" Luck said.

"So, you're Power Rangers. Time to test the limits of these powers you have. Spades!" Zenon snapped his fingers and used some of his magic. A dark magic circle appeared on the ground with numerous spades coming out of it. "Attack!" The spades charged at them and the fight was on as the team scattered and fought off the spades. Noelle deflected a few spear thrusts and slashed through a couple of them.

"This power feels amazing!" Noelle said as she loved it. She tested out her magic as she slammed her sword in to the ground and caused geysers to shoot right under them. As for Luck, he went ballistic as he slashed through some soldiers.

"This is what I'm talking about!" Luck said as he was having the time of his life. He turned himself into lightning and zipped around as he struck each of them down. Finral, on the other hand, was still trying to run, but they blocked his path. Luckily, he used his sword to block each attack.

"I think it's time for you guys to go!" Finral said as he opened up some portals for them to fall in and fell out of the air. Vanessa flipped back and kept herself moving as each spade tried attacking her. Some tried attacking her, but they ended up getting caught by some threads they didn't noticed earlier.

"You stepped right into my web, little flies." Vanessa said. She slashed through one and caused a series of explosions that knocked them all down.

"I want a real fight!" Luck said as he faced Zenon. "Come on!" He charged right at him, but Zenon wasn't intimidated. He had a bone-designed spear formed in his hand and blocked his attack. "This is gonna be fun!" Luck kept trying to attack him, but Zenon blocked each of his attacks.

"Is that all you got?" Zenon said like he was bored. He shoved Luck's sword out of the way and kicked him back with him getting knocked off his feet.

"Luck!" Vanessa called as the team regrouped.

"Try this." Zenon said as he twirled his spear around and formed magic circles. Bones shot out of each circle and struck against each of the rangers until they were knocked down. "Pathetic." He moved closer with his spear out and was ready to finish them. They were all in trouble as he was too powerful, but a little help came running in. He jumped through the air and kicked the spear away and kicked Zenon back.

"It's Asta!" Noelle said as they were all impressed to see him.

"Magic or no magic, I can't stand around and do nothing." Asta said.

"How foolish of you." Zenon said as he charged right at Asta to run him down.

"I just need to believe. I've always believed in myself, and I believe in magic!" Asta said. Just as Zenon thrusted his spear, Asta called on magic power and was able to block it. He couldn't believe it. Asta pushed back and sent Zenon flying. All of them were amazed that Asta just did that, especially Asta himself. Julius was watching from his bade and knew he was right. Now that Asta has some magic, he can fight.

"Just who are you?" Zenon questioned.

"You're about to find out." Asta said as he reached for his morpher. "Mana Morpher! Magic Calling!" Asta called upon the power and he morphed like the others.

"Red Magic Knight Ranger!" The team was complete now.

"Let's see if you're a worthy challenge." Zenon said.

"You asked for it!" Asta said as he charged in the fight. Asta tried getting some strikes in, but Zenon blocked each attack. When Zenon attacked, Asta jumped over and managed to land a strike in his back. Zenon swung his spear at him, but Asta moved out of the way as he cut right through a tree. "Easy. You'll hurt yourself with that."

"Only you will get hurt." Zenon said as he tried striking him again, but Asta jumped back. Asta also kicked off from a different tree and came at Zenon as he slashed right against him.

"Time to end this! Magic Saber: Power-Up!" Asta added some extra power to his sword as it began to glow red. He swung his sword straight at Zenon. Zenon attempted to block it with his spear, but Asta slashed right through it and slashed against Zenon. It caused an explosion to go off and Zenon was blown back from it.

"He's awesome!" Finral said.

"He really knows what's doing." Vanessa said as all of them were impressed.

"Not bad." Zenon said as he got back up. "You might be a challenge after all. We will meet again." He claimed before a magic circle opened up underneath him and he fell through. This was only the first of many battles to come.

The Underground Castle

Dante used magic to watch over the fight that just happened. He saw how the rangers fought against Zenon and was rather interested.

"He is so lame! I can't believe Zenon got beat!" Vanica mocked.

"Don't be so quick to judge, Vanica." Dante said. "The gateway has just opened, but I believe we might have already found ourselves a worthy foe." Dante is actually glad someone is standing in there way, someone strong.

The Rangers' Lair

"That was incredible!" Asta shouted as he and the others couldn't stop talking about what happened in the woods. All of them were amazed at what they were capable of doing while Julius was pleased with the results.

"You all should be proud of yourselves." Julius said.

"Of course, I was there to help." Noelle said.

"Are you kidding? Asta is the reason we made it. This guy is the real hero today!" Finral said as they all agreed to that with Asta feeling a little embarrassed.

"Julius, thanks." Asta said. "I came close to giving up on myself, but you reminded me who I am and what I want. You were right before, but I'm never going to make that sort of mistake again."

"All I did was guide you in a direction, Asta, but you were the one that took action." Julius said. "I know none of you asked for this, but now the fate of the world is in your hands. You must fight to protect the world from the devils. I know you all have what it takes to fight this enemy. Plus, there's one good thing about having Asta and Noelle here."

"What?" Asta said.

"I get two new employees to work at Timeless Meals!" Julius said.

"Wait. I have to work here?!" Noelle said as she was very against the idea.

"Awesome!" Asta said as he had the best day of his life. The team is whole and the battles are starting. The story of these brave knights and rangers has only just begun.
