Chapter 49. The miseries of those seers
The next morning, while still in her bedroom, Della heard that Dumstrang's ship had returned from the Great Lake of the Forbidden Forest.
She sat at the breakfast table and said to Fred, "I thought there would be another farewell ceremony or something." She didn't miss Krum, instead, she thought she could have another party.
Fred shrugged and said to the point, "they lost."
Well, it's a good reason.
The French witches were still here, and they were even taking classes with students at Hogwarts. These passionate French witches set off a whirlwind in the seventh grade of Hogwarts.
Many couples broke up.
"Aren't they worried about their marks at all?" Hermione asked, "it's going to be exams soon!"
Della lost all her appetite at once.
She put down her knife and fork and asked to Fred, "I need to go to headmaster's office. What are you going to do later?"
Fred: "I promised George to play Quidditch with him. Angelina, she thinks we need to start preparing for next year."
"Next year?" repeated Della.
"She's like a second Wood," said Fred, shaking his head.
The former captain of Gryffindor Quidditch team, Wood, graduated last year. From this year, their captain had become Angelina.
She used to tell them she had no objection with the Triwizard Tounament, but she wasted a year on it.
"I could have a chance to win one more time!" The champion of Quidditch Cup, was the wish of every captain of the Quidditch team.
Therefore, Angelina had starting to get her teammates together for training. Anyway, the tounament was over.
Della and Fred made an appointment to meet at noon, then she went to headmaster's office. After arriving at the fourth floor, she saw a group of girls in front of the window looking at the lake of the Forbidden Forest with tears, they must be missing the leaving idol Krum.
She did the same thing four weeks ago. When thinking about it now, it seemed to pass a lifetime.
She also saw Lavender, who was with Parvati. She quickly avoided them.
Since last night, Lavender gave a hard time to every Ron's friend. She was unkind to Hermione, laughing at her hair, and was not good to Harry either for his size, saying that Hermione would grow taller than him in the future. She tried to laugh at Della, but at last she swallowed the words.
Maybe she was afraid of being bald.
At the same time, as soon as she saw Ron, she would immediately fall into the arms of her friends and cry.
Ron would run away at once.
"It's all his fault." Hermione said to Della, "I think he regrets."
"Oh, no." Della sighed. He's too… irresponsible.
She asked Fred, if Ron would make up with Lavender.
Fred thought for a while and asserted, "if he doesn't make up with her before the end of this semester, then they will within one month at the beginning of next year." He said to Della, who was unbelievable, "Ron is like this. He's always changing his mind." He sighed as he talked about his little brother, "he's not very good at bearing strain."
That's to say, if Lavender could immediately forget him and fall into a new relationship, then Ron would let it go; otherwise, if she had been immersed in the lovelorn, Ron would change his mind.
There was a particularly interesting moving stone staircase in the headmaster's office, which was hidden behind an ugly gargoyle.
Della stood in front of the gargoyle and response the password, then the gargoyle step aside.
She stood on the staircase, which slowly spun up. Every time she did it, it would come to her mind that the magic world had escalator a thousand years ago.
"Come in, please." Dumbledore opened the door for her. "Have a seat, please. Would you like some tea?"
The aroma of tea encircled her, she sat down happily. "A cup, please. Oh!" She also saw scones! Fresh out of the oven!
Dumbledore grinned and handed her two bottles of jam, along with a bowl of whipped cream.
They were apple and orange jam.
"I was having breakfast." Dumbledore said, "maybe you can have some more with me. The students of Dumstrang had left, have you heard?"
Della was spreading apple jam, the strong and sweet aroma came to her.
"Yes. They said the ship was missing." She replied.
"Take more." Dumbledore came back from the window sill, sat down and took a piece of scone with cream, and was caught between the two jams.
Della couldn't help suggesting him, "Apple jam! It must have just been done!"
"Oh." Dumbledore gladly fellow, and dug up a big spoon of it.
They finished the scones, were both full and surrounded by the smell of apple jam and cream.
Dumbledore: "Della, do you remember what you said to me last night?" Della remembered she had a hole to fill in, but for a moment, she couldn't find any right reason.
She opened her mouth: "I…"
Dumbledore raised her hand, "please listen to me first."
"Have you ever heard of the Seer?" He asked.
Della nodded.
He thought she was a seer? No, she wasn't.
She shook her head, "I'm not…"
Dumbledore raised his hand again and stopped her. "Now, let me be a professor of History of Magic for a while, and tell you some secretes."
Then she heard many stories about the misfortune of the seers.
As early as 3000 years ago, there were seers in the world.
The history of wizards could be traced back to the time of King Arthur, and after the establishment of Hogwarts, wizards also consciously collected the words left by the seers.
Most of the surviving and known seers had famous prophecies.
The misfortune of some seer was that he had predicted too many things, spanning thousands of years.
"Of course, we are confirming his prophecies, many of which have been fulfilled." Dumbledore got up, took a book from his bookcase, opened it and read it to her.
"I walk in the gap between time and space, don't know where I am." Dumbledore finished and commented, "he's a poor man. It can be seen from his diary that he often doesn't know what time he is in. The world and time have become fragments to him, he can't put them together, instead, only lives in tangly time and space forever."
Dumbledore smiled at her: "Della, you know where you're now, don't you?"
Della was frozen.
Dumbledore: "You're at Hogwarts. Around you, there are your loving parents, noisy siblings, and your lover."
Della bowed her head, was silent for some time before she said "yes".
Dumbledore didn't go on with the story of this seer, he began to talk about another person.
The fate of this seer was no better than the former. The former one couldn't tell which world and time he was in all his life.
And this one, he could always tell the misfortune of the people around him. As time went by, he became the most unwelcome person. Finally, he could only live alone and have a lonely life.
"When it comes to bed things, we always try to avoid them. Sometimes we resent the people who tell us those. It's a sad part of humanity. A lot of people can't avoid it." Dumbledore sighed, but he smiled at her: "But I think I'm an old enough man who am able to bear the misfortune of life, I am not afraid of danger nor sorrow. What do you think?"
Della could only smile and nod, "yes, I think you're such a brave man."
She thought he would continue to go on and "press" her about Cedric's death this time.
However, he spoke of a third seer.
His fate was no better than the former two, because his predictions were sometimes accurate and sometimes inaccurate, and there were more inaccuracies. In the end, he no longer prophesied to people, instead of writing down the prophecies, which were not discovered until he passed away.
His life, also attracted a lot of resentment, as well as plenty of gratitude. But it's no exception that people expect more from him than he could.
He left a word engraved on the tombstone: "People always expect me to do as much and as well as God. So, I went to God."
Della was quiet.
She already understood that headmaster Dumbledore used these three seers to reassure her.
He guaranteed that she would never encounter the misfortunes and difficulties that these three persons had met.
At least not on him.
Maybe she didn't have to insist that she's not a seer.
Dumbledore came to her and took her hand. "Would you like to trust your ally?"
Della held it back.
