Chapter 56. The variety of love
Harry never had a birthday party when he was at his uncle's house! He never invited his friends to his house.
"So, Sirius decided to have a big birthday party for Harry." Hermione told Della, "they invited me half a month ago, and Ron." she said, with a little embarrassed on her face, and quickly glanced at Della, "but they said they had something to do, so they arrived the day before yesterday."
Della was silent.
Hermione had to change the topic: "You can stay here with me in the evening, and Hannah, this bed is big enough!"
Della: "It's beautiful here."
Hermione pulled her up to have a look at the room.
It's a large room, has its own living room and a dressing room at the back, and a big balcony.
"I heard it from Sirius that it used to belong to a Miss Black." Hermione felt a little uncomfortable about this. "I hope its owner isn't living in Azkaban now."
Della thought of the Black family tree before responded her, "this is their ancestral house. I think the other Blacks should have moved out as an adult, I mean, Madame Malfoy's parents. It is impossible for adult children to keep living here."
Hermione looked at her in surprise, "oh, is it?"
Della shrugged. "The Bush family also has a family tree. I used to hear from dad when I was a child." Mr. Bush was in a collateral branch of a family, so he left home after graduation, built a house in Rock Valley after marriage, and gave birth to their brothers and sisters.
Hermione: "There are many traditions in the wizard world sometimes." She gave Della a quick look. "So, do you want to have a talk?" Della had been looking for someone to talk before she came, and she thought maybe only Hermione could understand her. But when she arrived, she changed her mind.
"Did all of you know?"
Hermione shook her head. "No. When the Weasleys arrived the day before yesterday, Fred looked upset. He and George didn't even have a prank on the table, it's really surprising, I should say. Ron told Harry and me, but he didn't know much."
She and Hermione sat on the sofa, Hermione leaned close to her and asked, "so, why? I think you're frightened. Ron says you don't love him. Of course it's impossible, is it?"
However, to her panic, Della didn't refute whether she loved Fred or not. She was lost in thought, as if she had no answer about the question.
"Well, I'm really curious now." Hermione sat up straight. "What's going on?"
Looking back on that day, Della felt as if she were dreaming.
Of course she wished it was a dream.
But obviously not.
She messed up, and hurt Fred — he must be sad.
The whole Weasleys must be angry, too.
"They didn't." Hermione said in earnest, "they all thought there must be a reason. They guessed Fred did something wrong." She said quickly, "Fred thought so, too." What she didn't say was that Fred recently asked everyone how many mistakes he had done, and wanted to apologize to Della for every mistake.
But after counting the dates he missed, no one thought Della would forgive him and accept his proposal.
"So he's very guilty now, only guilty, instead of blaming you." Hermione said, "he felt like he deserved it. That's also what the Weasleys thought."
"What do you think?" Hermione looked at her.
She found Della also look depressed instead of sad. She might feel a little guilty, but more puzzled.
Della looked up to Hermione.
Hermione immediately promised, "I'm your friend. I promise to keep the secret for you. If you don't want me to leak out, I won't tell anyone. Come on, Della, you know you can trust me! If you need advice from others, I'll be here."
"All right." Della took a deep breath and bravely spoke out the words in her mind: "I've never thought about getting married."
"..." For the first time, Hermione suspect her English was not good enough. "Did you?"
Della: "I do think so till now. She tried another time in her mind, but still couldn't imagine her getting married.
Hermione felt that she needed to make sure again, "you love Fred, don't you?" Della nodded firmly: "Yes, I love him, unquestionably."
Hermione outstretched her hands, "then why don't you want to get married?" "I just can't imagine what it's like! It's like something in another world! I've never thought about it!"
"Well, well, calm down." Hermione said, "let's have an analysis one by one. I'll ask you questions, and you answer them after your carefully thinking, okay?"
Della sunk to the sofa and nodded limply, "okay. Find out what's wrong with me — I think I have a problem."
"No, you don't, Della!" Hermione said definitely, "Everyone in the world is different! If you don't want to get married, he shouldn't force you!"
Her support made Della feel better, she sat upright: "let's start."
Hermione: "Are you a non-marrige person?" Della shook her head. "No. I'm looking forward to wearing wedding dresses!"
Hermione: "...well, it makes sense." She made a note on the parchment. "Go on. Do you think kids?" Della nodded, "yes. I don't think I object a few more babies calling me mom!"
Hermione nodded and praised her: "it's going great! Go on, do you love Fred?"
Della: "Yes, I do."
Hermoine kept asking, "have you ever thought who would be the father of your future child?"
Della immediately answered: "Fred." There's no doubt about it.
Hermione: "...well, let's try again. If Fred proposes to you, would you accept?" Della quickly shook her head: "No! No, no! It's too early! It's scary! I've never thought of getting married so early and so soon!"
Hermione realized she had grasped the point of the question: "When do you want to get married?" Della stammered. When would her plan to get married?
Hermione simplified the question for her: "Time? Age? The circumstance? Do you think it's inappropriate time for marriage? Or the age and the circumstance are unsuitable?"
Della shook her head blankly. "It's too complicated for me to understand."
Hermione took a deep breath and asked, "do you think you're too young? Is he, or you? If I ask you how old you want to get married, can you give me a number? Twenty? 21? 22?"
Della's eyes widened.
Hermione saw her expression, "Della? Hello? Take it easy. Let's change the topic. Where do you want to live? I mean what kind of house, any decoration inside?"
Della was absent minded.
She found the problem.
In the previous life, she didn't live to twenty years old. She had never thought about what she wanted to do after she was 20. All she expected for the future was to have a happy life with her family and have a romantic relationship.
So, she didn't know how to face to herself who was going to get married. Yes, she should think about it this time.
Hermione sneaked into Harry's room after dinner, where Ron and the twins were all there.
"Della was downstairs cleaning." Hermione glanced at Fred and felt that words fail her for a moment.
All the boys in the room were looking at her with anxious expressions.
Harry: "Did you find out? What did her think?" Hermione nodded, but shook her head, she turned to Fred: "I can't tell you her privacy, but I can tell you the conclusion."
Fred: "What's the conclusion? I just need to apologize, if she knows my sincerity, she will promise me next time."
Hermione shook her head. "I don't think it's going to be that easy. Della is an unmarried person, implicitly, and she didn't realize it." Harry looked at Fred at once.
Ron couldn't understand. "'Unmarried person'?"
Fred sat up straight, "what does it means? People who are not married?"
Hermione: "It's a Muggle term. I don't want to recite the words here, I have to go back to the kitchen downstairs. In short, there's a result for ordinary people who yearn for love, that is, most of them are married to their lovers. While Della's yearning for love is to be your girlfriend and keep a relationship with you forever. She wasn't unfailthful, nor doesn't love you, it's just her wish is different from that of ordinary people. You want to get married, and she wants to be in love all the time. That's it." She stared at Fred: "Would you take it?" Fred wanted to shook his head before he noticed her eyes, which made him more cautious. He thought about it and asked her, "well...emm, I mean, will she change her mind?" Hermione shook her head, "I don't know. But I want to tell you that, it doesn't mean she doesn't love you, nor she's wrong. Everyone in this world has his own outlook of love and marriage. There's no marriage option in her love, at least not at present. If you love her, you can only accept her opinion, rather than change her, neither criticize her for being wrong nor correct her."
Fred was in a daze.
—For the first time, he felt he needed to study hard, because he couldn't understand what she said.
But he got the point.
"I love her." Fred said, "I don't think it's wrong that she doesn't want to marry me." He took a deep breath and laughed to himself, "it's good to be in love for a lifetime, isn't it?"
