Chapter 58. The best boyfriend
Harry Potter's birthday party began.
On Saturday morning, Della and Hermione had to get up early. Dobby, a house elf belonged to Hogwarts, woke up the two ladies, told them they would be very busy today and they needed to be ready before the guests arrived.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, he sent dobby here to help." Hermione was standing in front of the bed in her white lace underdress, Della was in her dressing gown. On the bed were two beautiful witch dresses, while it took a little bit of skill to put them on.
With Dobby's help, Hermione put on her magic tunic and began to deal with her hair. They had only chicken soup and coffee for breakfast. Dobby said, "Ladies usually don't eat anything from the day before the party."
"I need breakfast," Della said immediately, "sandwiches and juice!"
Hermione rolled her eyes, then she had to sat there watching her eating.
"I prefer the modern witch dress." said Della. She wore a modern witch dress at the Triwizard Tournament, which was as beautiful as a tunic.
Hermione couldn't move. Her hair took a lot of work, and most of the work couldn't be done by herself.
"It's Sirius. By the time I knew it, the dress was done. It's all like this." Hermione said, with a little bit unease, "a custom dress, he must have paid a lot. He ordered one for me when he did for Harry." She took a quick glance at her, and swallowed the rest words, in order not to stimulate her.
Della was not so sensitive at all, although she got the meaning from her words.
"Harry's godfather, has Mr. Black taken you as Harry's fiancee? When are you going to get married?" Della came to the dresser and asked her excitedly.
Hermione was caught between giving a sigh or not.
"I think it should be another year or two." She said, "or before graduation. Sirius had mentioned it. He said it was usually before graduation, in the sixth grade, the two families would hold a small engagement banquet to invite some relatives and friends, so that everyone would know. Then we could take our time after graduation and get married after everything was arranged." She talked fast, was blushed and embarrassed, which made her try to be more serious, "But Sirius said it was all old-fashioned, he said we could discuss it by ourselves and whatever we wanted. He also said we could directly get married if we didn't want to get engaged." She looked at Della and said sweetly, "Harry said I had the final say. You and Fred's case seems to scare him."
Della became embarrassed when heard this, "I don't want to go out! What if I pretend to be sick?" She asked passively.
Hermione shook her head. "Bad idea. Listen, if you do, I promise you when we get back to school, everyone will talk about it for a whole year!"
Della shivered. Although she and Fred were always talked about, she could never get used to it.
"Be natural." Hermione reminded her, "you can't hide in the room forever. After a while, you'll see all the Weasleys — except Mr. Weasley, who's at work."
Della covered her face in a heavy mood.
But the guests were coming. Hermione and Harry were going to welcome people. Della refused to go down on the pretext that her hair was not ready.
She was on the second floor, and soon heard many talking coming downstairs. It seemed that people kept popping out of the fireplace and appearing in front of the door.
How can there be so many guests?
She thought there were only the Weasley and the Bush family, plus a few Quidditch players at most.
She stole away to the stairs curiously, bent down and looked down, then she saw the heads of those guests — it seemed that the living room was full.
Della whispered, and suddenly heard a footstep from Fred! He's coming up.
She slipped back into the room at once!
Fred did come to her. His footsteps stopped in front of the door hesitantly, then, after a long while — she thought it was at least twenty minutes!
He knocked at the door.
Della hesitated but opened the door. She saw him.
She went to see his face at once! What reassured her was that he was not angry! Only a little unconfident.
He also stared at her face, as if relieved.
He looked downstairs, then nudged her in, and closed the door.
"Hi, I always wanted to tell you that George and I are discussing the business of opening a shop. We've looked a house and everything is in preparation, and we've looking for investors..." He spoke fast, as if to avoid tension.
He didn't dare to look into her eyes. His sight fell on her head, her ears and her skirt.
"It's beautiful." He swallowed.
"Thanks." Della quickly asked him, "are you ready to your business?"
Fred: "We planned to find a shop in Diagon Alley, but it wasn't easy. Then we turned to Hogsmeade, there were two shops for sale... I mean, I'm not going to get married recently."
"Pardon?" Della immediately found his eyes. What was he talking about?
Fred nodded hard, pursed his lips and said solemnly, "I have business! I mean, George and I are going to open a shop. We have a lot to do. For the time being, in a short time, I mean, ...can we date first? Let's wait till everything gets better, okay?"
Della breathed a sigh of relief, as if everything was finally on the right track, at the same time, was a little suspected that Hermione and Fred had made an agreement on this.
In other words, he... made the decision for her. In this way, the pressure was on his side, and no one would keep asking her why.
Most of all, she couldn't find a reason.
...Before that, she even thought it was his turn to break up with her.
"Of course I mean, career is more important! I'd love to see your shop in Diagon Alley as soon as possible." She tiptoed and had an impulse to kiss him.
Fred got it, he lowered his head.
But they didn't succeed the first time. After the proposal, they all became more cautious.
The second time, they gently, slowly approached and kissed each other.
The world, together with the troubles were gone. As she in his arm, Della felt she was fearless.
She felt that now she could take his proposal!
But when the door was knocked, she woke up from her dream, and came to her senses.
For the time being... forget it.
It was Ginny at the door. "It's time to go down. Everybody's here. Della, you may need touch up your lip, Fred... God!" Della took a look at his lips! She nearly jumped up at once!
"No, no no!" She sprang up to get the magic towel! But it didn't work! The red marks were firmly imprinted on the corners of his mouth and lips.
They kiss too hard.
Fred looked in the mirror and whistled, "that's good. No one is going to worry about us breaking up again! Come on, let's get down! Harry said Sirius invited the whole fifth grade of Gryffindor! Plus the graduated Wood, and... anyway, all the people he knew received the invitation. Sirius said there would be another surprise."
He hopped downstairs with Della by the hand, seeing the porch was full of people, dressed as if they were at a banquet.
At least a hundred people there!
Everyone smiled as expected when they saw Fred's mouth. When saw Della, both boys and girls gave her thumbs up.
"Well down, Della!" One of the girls said, "I wish I could have a stamp on Drank like you! So that he must follow me instead of running away!"
George pushed over. It was the same for him to noticed Fred's mouth at the first glance, he looked excited: "Great! Hi, Della, you won't believe he's been crying in the quilt for days."
"I didn't!" Fred gave his brother a kick. But latter came of Charlie, "great, you know, I can't knock the door when I went to the bathroom these two days. There was always someone hiding in it crying."
Bill: "Yes, I thought there was another ghoul hiding in the toilet."
All three said that.
Della asked Fred anxiously, "are you really? I'm so..."
Fred couldn't beat his three brothers, so he turned to Della, "no! I'm not sad at all!"
Della raised her eyebrows: "...Oh?"
Fred: "...Well, of course I'm very... I mean... come on, let's say happy birthday to Harry." He pushed aside his grinning brothers and dragged her away.
