The orange beach sun glowed dully over two figures cuddling together on the sand. There lay Riku and Kairi talking quietly.
"What exactly did you do when you were in the dark kingdom thing…when you were Ansem?"
"I've told you a million times, I was trying to wake up Sora and free you!"
"How?"
"Well, I was trying to find a weakness in the Nobodies the whole time by studying them, sort of. What were you doing?"
"I was trying to remember Sora and find you! When Soras' memory was taken away, nobody remembered him, including me."
"Talking about Sora, do you still have…feelings for him?"
"What!"
" Do you still like him?"
Kairi had a shocked look on her face. She stood up angrily and stormed up the beach.
I had been three years since the trio of friends had returned from defeating Ansem. They had returned feeling very out of touch and like they didn't fit in at all. One by one, they had returned to their normal selves and started to grow back into the community that they lived in. All but Sora had started to fit in. He still felt lost when he was with his friends, like he shouldn't be with them. This night was different though; he felt like he belonged where he was. He sat with his family at dinner for the first time since he came home. While he was sitting I his chair, talking to his parents, the doorbell rang about seven times, very quickly.
"I'll get it!" he told his parents. The bell rang a few more times.
"I'm coming!" he yelled.
When he opened the door he saw Kairis' tear-stained face. When she saw who it was, she put her arms around him, giving him a tight hug. Sora hugged her back slowly, confused. Why was Kairi here, after she hadn't seen him for two years? Sora had fallen out of touch with all his friends and had confined himself to his room for two years.
She looked up into his eyes and kissed him slowly, closing her eyes.
