It felt strange, going to school the next day as if everything were the same as ever. How could she act the way she always when she finally had everything that she wanted? But she knew that she had to, that if she tried to explain her friends would just see the taboo, not understand that there was nothing wrong with what they were doing.
Strangely, it was the time her brother had kept himself away from her that saved her from having her friends ask any questions, the masked expression she'd learned to wear then to hide her pain now covering her joy.
She sat through her classes, she took her notes, and she turned in her assignments just like it was any other day. And, just like always, she ate lunch with Futaba and Ouka. It was only at the end of the school day, when they asked her to go hang out in town with them, that her routine changed at all. "Ah, I can't today!" she told them, already backing away toward the street. "Onii-chan, he, ah, promised to help me with my homework, but he's not going to be free tonight!"
"Oh, Nanoka, we thought you were finally over your brother complex!" Ouka said with a smirk, but Nanoka just laughed as she turned away from them. How could she get upset at their teasing now?
Almost as soon as she was out of their sight she began to run. He was waiting for her at the amusement park, and she needed to get there as soon as possible. And then... then she would tell him what she'd learned that he'd told their mother, and tell him that she accepted the proposal he hadn't even known she'd find out about. That she, too, could never get married because of the person she love.
And then, they could let the future come.
