Mal woke up the next morning after a great sleep, sure it wasn't long, but she felt completely relax. A smile appeared on her face the moment she saw Ben's arm firmly over her making her stay pressed against his sleeping form. Even asleep, the boy hadn't let her go, and she was ready to wake up like this every day. A couple of hours before, when they were talking, Mal started thinking what was making her stay in New York when Ben was in Seattle. Her job wasn't making her happy anymore, and every time she visited the city Mal felt more in love with it, she decided to start looking for work there before telling the boy just to be sure. Mal knew that Ben would try to convince her to stay in New York while he looked for work there, but the more she thought about, the more she found herself playing scenarios in her mind where they could have a future there.
"What are you thinking about?" Ben's raspy voice startled her; Mal wasn't sure how long the boy was awake while she was lost in her thoughts.
"Not much, just happy that we talked last night. Also, hoping you are going to offered to make us breakfast before we go to the airport cause I'm starving." That made the boy laughed, and after kissing her, Ben stood up, making his way to the kitchen. Ryder was there making coffee, and the two boys talked while Ben prepared eggs and bacon for the three of them. Mal emerged from her room dressed ready for the airport and smiled brightly and her plate where Ben had use her food to make a happy face.
The boy excused himself and went on to take a quick shower and get ready for his departure. Soon after that, the couple was making their way to the airport while talking about their plans for the holidays. Usually, Ben would object to Mal going with him to the airport because he didn't like that she made her way home alone, but he knew that they needed to spend as much time as they could together after their talk. Once he was ready to go to his gate, they embraced for a last time while Mal promised the boy that she was going to see him the next month for Thanksgiving.
After watching Ben disappeared into the sea of people that made their way to their gates Mal took her phone out and choosing a date on her cellphone she made a little note on her calendar. If things went like she was planning in that date she would be back in the airport ready to move to Seattle with Ben and start a life together, and as much as she love New York her heart beat a little faster just thinking about the possibility to be with the boy. Mal made her way straight into her office trying to put things in motion, sure six months wasn't a small amount of time, but it wasn't a lot to find a new job either. Since Mal started working she never look or even thought about changing jobs so now the girl felt a little lost about what to do, so with that in mind she decided to recruit some help.
Carly wasn't shocked when Mal told her that she wanted to looked for a job in Seattle, after their conversation months before the girl knew that this moment would come and she had actually being getting information for her friends. She was also planning to move on from the magazine and followed her dream of living in Los Angeles, in her case though her boyfriend wasn't sure and they were talking about the logistics of moving to another state. So when Mal talked with her Carly started sharing all the information she gather and soon they were following on possible jobs the girl could have in the city. That night Mal also shared her news with Ryder, so the boy would have enough time to search for someone to move in with and he shocked her telling her that he would love to pursue a job in Ben's company. He had asked Ben if he would be willing to give him an opportunity and after they talk about his qualifications the boy agree that he would be an asset for the company, but he also told him that he needed to be sure about moving to Seattle. After that, he would put a good word with Azis and Jay but they would still need to agree to have him work with them before being sure that he got the job. Ben also told Ryder to please share his plans with Mal before any interview, it was Ryder's secret to share and he promised not to say anything but he wasn't comfortable knowing something that would affect her without being able to share it with her.
Mal asked Ryder to keep her secret, but they could tell Ben that she already knew about his plans to join the boy's company if they have him. Together they went on and research all the information Carly gave her and from there she started finding people that she knew that work in those places to see if there was a chance for her to find a position there.
Thanksgiving came quick and Ryder took the opportunity to travel with her so that the week after he could interview with everyone and see if there was a chance for him to get a job. He also shared with Mal a couple of weeks before that Maya was living there and that they had actually reconnected, and this time she was the one asking him to take a chance on her. When Mal asked the boy if that was the reason he was going to relocate, Ryder told her that since knowing Ben he was intrigue about his company and the more he knew about it the more he wanted to be part of it. Now he wouldn't lie and say that Maya being there wasn't a bonus, but he knew how much he loved the girl and if he could make it easier for them to be together he wouldn't hesitate.
Once at Seattle Ryder spent Thanksgiving with Maya but stay at Ben's apartment with the couple wanting to spent as much time as possible with the girl, but still respect that they were in the early stages of their relationship. His time with her proof that his potential move to the city was the right way to go, he had been in love with her for several years now and knowing that Maya and him could be together made him so happy. Still he prepared himself for the awkwardness of the reunion, and was shocked by how in the end there was none. They were comfortable with each other and time didn't seem to past between them. Their conversations never faltered and now that they were also able to kiss and hugged each other the couple realized that they had a chance to have a second chance on a future together and neither of them wanted to let it go.
On Monday Ryder said goodbye to Mal promising the girl that he was going to be back by the end of the week. Ben took the girl to the airport and told Ryder that he was going to see him at the office so they could meet the Azis and Jay and talk a little. When they saw each other at the office Ryder saw how Ben's mood change since he last saw him earlier, sure the boy wasn't angry but you could see a little sadness on his eyes and as much as he tried he was a little distracted. Still after a short talk with Jay and Azis, they call Ryder into Jay's office and they started talking about the possibility of him joining the company. That night he called Mal and shared with her how the meeting went, and how unsure he was of his future there, sure they all were nice but none of them guarantee him a position, everything would go through HR and they would be calling him for an interview in the future.
Mal assured her friend that he didn't need to worry, it was only logical that the boys would not be telling him if they had decide that he was joining the company at that moment. HR was the right way to go, they would validate everything he told them in their meeting and they would also validate his entry into the company for the rest of the people there. That made Ryder feel better about the situation and Mal also made a great point when she told him that if they really didn't feel like he was a possible fit for the company they would have told him that immediately. After they ended their call, the boy made his way into the apartment and saw Ben working on his laptop on the desk. Taking a chance he took his phone out and turned on his video so he could capture how the boy's desk was position right in front of the pictures that Mal took, every couple of minutes Ben would looked up and stared at the photos for a little while and then go back to work. He send it to Mal with a little message telling her to remembered to call her boyfriend, because the boy was always missing her.
Ben noticed the boy and stood up asking asking Ryder if he wanted something to eat, the boy was about to say no when he realized that if he did Ben would be eating alone. So he said yes and together they prepared a light dinner for the both of them and sat down, Ryder took the chance to asked the boy how he was doing. He knew from experience that whenever Ben left town Mal would have a rough couple of days so when the boy started telling him that he was just missing Mal. However, Ben stop suddenly probably because he felt like talking about the situation would only be making him sadder, and instead when on to asked Ryder about Maya. Soon they were talking about the new relationship that was blooming quickly. The week went on fast and soon Ryder was going back to New York with some certain that he would be part of the company soon enough.
When he came back Mal was getting the apartment ready, Ben had told her that he was coming to the city for Christmas and New Year and she decided that it was going to be perfect to have one last celebration there. Ben made his way to the city two days before Christmas and the couple said goodbye to Ryder who was going back to Seattle to spent the holidays with Maya. It was weird for them to be in the city and have the apartment to themselves but they found their alone time interrupted when Belle and Adam announced that they were flying there to spent the holidays with them.
On New Year Mal decided to announced her plans to move, and even though Belle and Adam receive the news with joy she could see that Ben looked taken aback. When the celebration ended and they went back to their room Ben asked her about her decision- Mal explained herself and for the first time since she took the decision the girl wondered if maybe he didn't want her to move with him. Sure, it was illogical to think that but Ben didn't seem happy about her news, and she started to get nervous.
Ben picked up on that and asked her what was happening and when Mal told him he assured her that he loved the idea. Still he was afraid that leaving her job would made her grew resentful towards him with time. The couple talked about how she was feeling lately in her job and soon it was morning and his parents knocked on their door announcing that breakfast was ready. They decided to joined them, then Belle told everyone how she made plans for them that day out in the city, when they finish everything the couple collapsed on their bed without a second thought.
They managed to find some moments to talk more about the potential move to Seattle and by the end of his visit Ben was on board with the girls plan, Sure, he knew that he would agree to anything Mal wanted to do but he wanted to be sure that she was not going to do this and then be sad about it. After that months seemed to fly by and Mal was starting to get nervous about finding a job, when she was due to tell the magazine that she was leaving Mal hadn't find a job then and Ben said to her that maybe she should just wait until she find one. Above all he assured Mal that feeling unsure about a big move like the one she was planning to do was normal and he would understand if she decided to push it back.
Mal decided that it was a good idea to push her move back until she secure a new job; however Ryder was going to move to Seattle in a month so she wasn't sure about her living situation. The boy was already accepted in Ben's company and they decided to push his first day to coincide with Mal's moving week but now there was no way they would pushed it back. Evie told Mal that she could move in with her and Doug for a while, but the girl knew the situation would be uncomfortable with Harry visiting the couple because how close he was to Doug.
In the end Ben told her that he could helped her with the rent for a couple of months, but Mal declined his help. Mal had enough money to pay for the apartment alone for a couple of months at least. So she decided that she would set herself a new date and no matter what happened she was going to move to Seattle that day.
