Author's Note: Hello my wonderful readers. It seems I am always apologizing to you all for life happening, but at least I am lucky enough to be here to apologize at all. After a health scare this past year, I have been working tirelessly on recovering, but I have started writing again. However, this writing is mainly for my book series I am working on and my fanfiction is only worked on during bouts of writer's block. That doesn't mean I have abandoned any of my stories, but updating them is going to be sporadic at best. I think part of me is reluctant to let go of this part of my life as I have learned so much from writing on this platform and others, so I won't until I see these stories through. Thank you all for sticking with me throughout this journey and I hope to see you at it's end. As always, please Rate and Review to help me continue my journey of improvement. XOXO

Story Start:
Panic was not something he did. Worry, perhaps, but panic? No. That would never do. It was concerning how long Takara slept once she had given birth. After the first feeding of Kuromaru, she had fallen into an exhausted slumber and hadn't woken since and it had been nearly a day. She didn't even wake when their pup whined to be fed. Of course, he was able to move him to his mother and allowed him to feed and even taking care of the basic needs of his son was no challenge, but that didn't stop him from worrying about his mate.
He had taken to tending her injuries every few hours after she had fallen asleep and she was beginning to heal well, but it would be at least a week, even with his healing saliva before she was without pain. Guilt welled up inside of him for losing control when they had mated. He had been right about when she had conceived and his pup was large because of his partially transformed state, not to mention he appeared closer to his true form than his human guise.
Now fed, he gently pulled his son off his mother's breast and nestled him into his fur that was piled at her side. Belly full of milk, he curled up without complaint. Outside the door, the other little female that he cared for had padded up to the door quietly. He knew Takara would want her to greet their pup, but he worried it would upset her to see Takara still asleep and disheveled. He needed to speak with the girl. His mind pondered how best to do that when he wasn't willing to leave his mate or his son in such a vulnerable state.
That answer came from the porch as Kagome and Sango gently entered from the porch, staying close to the screen until he nodded for them to approach.
"She's still asleep?" Kagome voiced her concern in a whisper. "Has she woken up at all?"
Sesshomaru shook his head as his hand absentmindedly stroked his son. A familiar expression of worry flitted across the faces of both females as they looked to each other. He understood the look. It wasn't normal, for demon or human, to sleep so long.
"Sesshomaru," Sango spoke to him. "I apologize if I am overstepping my bounds, but Rin has been asking to see you and we didn't know…". She trailed off.
"If you will stay with Takara, I will go see her." He told them before they could ask. Both of them looked relieved and nodded eagerly. He picked up his son, nestled in his fur and reluctantly walked to leave. Instead of going to the screen where he knew Rin waited, he went to the porch where Jaken stood, also waiting to greet his master's pup.
"Mi'Lord!" The little imp bowed, ready to do his master's bidding.
"Go and fetch Rin." Sesshomaru told the small green creature. "Do not allow her in my rooms. I do not want her seeing Takara in her current state."
"Is the Lady well, Mi'Lord?"
He supposed he could give the imp an answer just this once. "She still sleeps."
"Of Course, Mi'Lord." With that, the little creature scamped away.
Sesshomaru sat and placed the bundle of fur that held Kuromaru in his lap keeping the pup covered from the early spring chill. He would've preferred to wait until Takara was awake to present his pup to those waiting to greet him, but not knowing when she would wake determined that it would be best to go ahead and present him. He was certain his pup was more than familiar with his scent as well as his mother's that he would need to begin learning the few others that he could trust. Rin was certainly one of those scents.
Her heard the excited pattering of her feet as she ran along the porch, slowing once she turned the corner and saw him, but she still hurried over. Like Takara, the little girl held no fear of him, and she crowded into his space trying to figure out where the pup was. Jaken, also eager, tried to spot the pup but from a much more respectable distance. "Where is Takara, Lord Sesshomaru?" She asked, looking back to the screen.
"She is resting, Rin." He told the little girl. "She is tired from such a long labor." It wasn't a lie, he assured himself. "You may see her when she wakes."
The flash of disappointment across the little girl's face was understandable. He too wished his mate would wake. "So, I can't see the pup until she wakes up?"
He didn't respond with words; he simply uncovered his son for her to see. She gasped at the sight of the pitch-black puppy snuggled in his lap, but she moved, leaning on his thigh for a closer look. The wonder in her soft brown eyes as she looked at the furry bundle was endearing even to him, and she quickly turned those eyes to him. "Can I touch him?" She asked excitedly. He nodded and she carefully reached out to stroke him from his head and down his back.
"He's so soft!" The little girl exclaimed quietly as she continued to pet him. "May I hold him, Lord Sesshomaru?"
He considered for a moment, the selfish side of him reluctant to give up his offspring to anyone but its' mother, but he would relent for Rin. He gave her a nod and before he could instruct further, she reached into his lap, without any sense of fear and pulled both the pup and fur from him and sat down. "He's big." The little girl noted as she tried to settle him in her lap like he had been in Sesshomaru's. It didn't work as well, but at least from where she sat holding the pup, Jaken was also able to get a better look. Carefully he inched closer to inspect his master's offspring. His pup, nuzzled contently in Rin's lap didn't seem to be as fond of the imp and a tiny growl rumbled from him as the small green creature went to stroke him. Before Jaken could pull back, Sesshomaru growled his own warning to his pup. Jaken was his vassal and would be allowed around him. The pup settled under his correction and nuzzled its head into Rin's stomach.
When a few tears fell from Rin's eyes, Sesshomaru wondered if the pup was hurting her in some way but instead, she said. "I love him, Lord Sesshomaru. He's the perfect-" She stopped, catching herself before finishing the statement.
"The perfect what, Rin?" He prompted the little girl.
She hesitated for once and Sesshomaru couldn't fathom why, but he waited patiently. "Before Takara went missing, she told me that I was her daughter, so, I thought that would make him the perfect brother." Those little brown eyes met his and he understood what she was asking.
He placed a hand on her head to reassure her. "He is Rin's perfect brother." This time the tears that fell from the little girl's eyes were happy tears as she gently stroked the pup she held.
Once she had wrangled in her emotions, she was able to ask. "What is his name, Lord Sesshomaru?"
"Takara has named him Kuromaru."
"Kuromaru" Rin whispered to the pup. "I like that name."
As did he.
Takara knew she was dreaming once the familiar pillars of stone and thick plumes of wispy white fog appeared before her. Why is this so familiar? She wondered as she set off on the path that would send the creature chasing after her. In a matter of moments of her entering the maze-like structure, she heard that familiar rumble, but as she passed by pillars a different sound caught her attention. She tried to place it, but it was just out of grasp under the low rumbling growl that pursued her.
There was something about that other sound though. Something so familiar and calling that it made her stop despite being pursued. The sound was a faint whimper, like that of a puppy. It was then it hit her. She had birthed a puppy and she knew she was dreaming, and yet she couldn't wake.
"Zu'u fen kos hi ulse, Vulombrii." The voice came from behind her and she saw a flash of blue and silver out the corner of her eye as the creature circled.
Vulombrii? She wondered. Where have I heard that before? She tried to think as she spun to try and find the circling beast hunting her.
Wait… That's what Yolheimin called me when I was having my baby. She turned in the opposite direction to try and see what the creature was and as she did, finally she came face to snout with a dragon. Its' scales were a deep blue with the occasional shine of purple and silver mixed in, while his antler like horns and the spines down its back gleamed like brilliant ivory. Silver eyes met hers and as they did, memories came flooding back to her. She remembered the Earth dragon, meeting the dragon in front of her, meeting her husband and Yolheimin. She remembered how Yolheimin and this dragon stood in for her family on her wedding day and she remembered that they had fought to protect her. She remembered Sahloknir.
Tears ran down her face as she raced forward to embrace the dragon who had given his life to save her, throwing her arms around her scaly friend as he held her close with a claw. "I see you remember me now, Vulombrii." His deep voice growled to her.
"I'm so sorry, Sahloknir." She sobbed into his blue scales. "I didn't mean to steal your soul. I'd give anything to take it all back."
A gentle laugh came from the dragon as he gently pulled her from him. "You cannot steal what was given, little one with pretty eyes."
"What?"
"Vulombrii, I have lived many, many lifetimes in that world and each time I would die, I would get to start over again, but it was the same thing over and over again. I decided to give my soul to you to see life through your eyes and the eyes of your son. It will undoubtedly be an exciting adventure."
Takara was so confused. "I don't understand. How do you know about my son? You died before I even knew I was pregnant. Is all this just happening in my head?"
The blue beast settled himself down as the fog began to lift, leaving her in what seemed to be a world of unending white. "Do you remember when Loqahkriin Shouted at you? The words were Rii Vaas Zol. Do you know what that Shout means?"
Takara shook her head.
"It is the Shout for soul tearing. It does as the name suggests and rips a soul from the being it is used on."
The dragon didn't say anything else, and Takara didn't understand what he was saying.
"Can a dragon not steal another dragon's soul?" She asked.
"They can."
"Then why didn't he steal my soul? I felt it when he hit me with the Shout."
A sympathetic look took hold of Sahloknir's face. "Vulombrii, I said that the shout would tear A soul from the being it was being used on. Not that it would pull the soul from the target."
It dawned on her what he meant then and her hand flew to her stomach in understanding. "My baby's…". She couldn't finish that statement, but Sahloknir nodded. "But he was born and there didn't seem to be anything wrong with him."
"Nor will there be, Little One. It is why I waited to open the portal back to the world of the living." At her worried and confused look he continued. "I gave a part of my soul to take the place of what was stolen from your child. It was only a small part because of how young it was, so the majority of my soul now resides in you."
Once more tears streamed down Takara's face at the realization. Sahloknir had sacrificed himself, not only for her, but for her unborn baby. She could never thank him enough.
"Of course, since it was just a small fraction of me, it will grow and change into something new, a sapling from a mighty tree, if you will. He will not be me, Vulombrii, and I know that will devastate you, but perhaps he will one day acquire my charm."
Her sobs turned to laughter at that, and she tried to wipe her face. "Then, since he has the soul of a dragon, he'll be able to Shout too?"
Sahloknir nodded his massive head. "Given time and training of course. Now I think I've kept you long enough. It's been several days since you slept."
"Days?!" she panicked, and her dragon friend chuckled.
"Indeed, Little One with Pretty Eyes, but if you ever need me, I am a part of you now, you need only look to find me."
"How am I supposed to do that?!" She demanded as the world started to become blurry.
"Ask Yolheimin to teach you! I'm sure the red bastard misses me too."
It was dark in the room when Takara finally opened her eyes. Sahloknir had said she'd been asleep for days and she felt how true that was. Her body was stiff from laying in the same place, and there was a dull, throbbing ache between her legs. It was then she remembered her dream and the birth of her son. It was dark enough for her to have a difficult time seeing details, but it wasn't so dark that she could miss the pure white of her husband's kimono as he sat just inside the open screen door.
"Sesshomaru?" she questioned, wincing at how hoarse her voice sounded, but it got his attention, his head whipping around to her. In a matter of seconds he was at her side, his fur bundled in his arms.
"Are you well, My Treasure?" His hand gently stroked her face and it was unusual for there to be even a hint of emotion in his voice.
"Yeah, just… sore, I think. I don't think I'm awake enough for a full account yet."
"You've been asleep for three days, Takara. Are you sure you're well?"
She nodded and motioned for him to help her sit up, wincing from the stiffness of her movement and the birth. She searched the furs beside her looking for her son. "Where is Kuromaru?"
Before she could even finish the question, Sesshomaru placed his fur in her lap, unwrapping the bundle to reveal her son. He whimpered in protest of being unbundled, but his mother paid no mind as she scooped him up and held him close. Once more she marveled as she held him, still not convinced he was real. "Hello again, handsome. I'm sorry for sleeping so long." She buried her nose against him and took in the scent of her son; his puppy scent. His whimpers of protest changed their pitch as he decided to root for his dinner. She turned next to Sesshomaru who sat watching her interactions with their child, his face covered in its usual emotionless mask.
It was then she realized everything she had forgot, her vision blurring as tears began to well up in her eyes. "I'm so sorry, Sesshomaru." Her eyes adverted in shame from him, despising herself for having forgotten what the two of them had been through together. "I remember what happened before Loqahkriin and I can never apologize enough-"
His hand gently cupped her cheek and she paused to look at him.
"You remember, My Treasure?"
She nodded and his eyes seemed to soften just a bit and he leaned forward to place a kiss on her head, pulling her close before he rested his head on hers. "There is nothing to apologize for, Takara." He didn't say anything else. He simply held her while she shed a few tears in relief. Once she had composed herself somewhat, she leaned back and gave him her most sincere smile. "I'm so glad you said that because I don't ever think you'll get a hold on that ego of yours."
She watched as his expression shifted ever so slightly from clear to confused before he narrowed his eyes in understanding. "That apology is still required."
"Ah ah ah. You said, there was nothing to apologize for. You'll just have to try again next time."
"Next time?"
Takara nodded and smiled down at the furry bundle she held.
"You've got 9 more attempts to get that apology."
"And if you birth twins?"
"I'm feeling generous. You get one per child, not per birth."
"How kind of you."
"I learned from the best." She laughed. He didn't argue further and she returned to watching her pup in wonder. He had to at least weigh a stone if not more already and growing fast. "Has he really grown so much in three days or is it my imagination?"
"He has grown." Sesshomaru confirmed as he reached out to stroke his son, who growled around the mouthful of his mother's breast. Sesshomaru growled back and the pup quieted.
"What was that about?" She really wished she could understand the interactions between father and son.
"He thought I was going to remove him from you. He is a greedy pup who does not wish to share his mother. I simply reminded him that I could remove him if I wanted to."
That seemed to make sense and a part of her softened even more, her heart melting as she watched him. Eventually he stopped nursing, but he had yet to release her breast. Instead, he fell asleep latched onto her. She didn't mind. "Has Rin met him yet?" She asked. And Sesshomaru nodded. "Only for a moment. I allowed her to hold him, but I told her she would have to wait until you woke to do so again. I did not want to confuse him too much with who was his mother."
"Confuse him?"
Sesshomaru nodded. "His sense of smell is strong, and he will bond with whoever he smells. If he were to spend too much time with another female in his first few days, he could confuse which was his mother."
"Will it be ok for her to see him now?" She glanced out the screen. "Or better yet, in the morning? I'm assuming she's in bed now."
He nodded. "She can meet him again. His guarding you has assured me that he is aware that your scent means 'mother' to him. When his eyes open, there won't be any confusion."
That made sense to her. "Well, would it be ok for me to take a bath? I'm pretty sure I need one."
With a nod, he knelt and lifted Takara into his arms, waited for her to remove his son and adjust her yukata. Once she was settled, he quietly exited the room and carried her along the porch to the bathhouse. "It won't be too warm in there for him, will it?" She asked feeling the heat from the hot spring already.
"I will watch him while the two of you wash."
Takara jumped at the sound of Tōga's voice coming from behind her.
"It's about time you woke." He told her, stepping around where she could see him.
Takara gave him a smile and looked to Sesshomaru for what she should do. Sesshomaru nodded and she gently but reluctantly lifted her sleeping son and handed him to his grandfather. He had removed his heavy armor and stood in only his kimono and fur which allowed him to wrap his own pelt around the pup. He took a seat on the porch near the entrance of the bath house and Sesshomaru carried Takara inside. She may not have been able to get in the hot spring, but she would relish a good cleaning. Sesshomaru set her down gently on a stool and helped her remove her yukata before he removed his own kimono.
In a hurry to get back to her son. Takara tried to hurry and wash as best she could, but Sesshomaru stopped her, standing bare before her, not even bothering to wrap himself with a towel. "He will be fine with my father, Takara. There is no need to rush."
"Are you sure he doesn't mind? I didn't know if he had something he wanted or needed to do."
Sesshomaru shook his head and stepped behind her. The hot spring beside her allowed her access to as much hot water as she wanted, and she did as he instructed and took her time washing thoroughly to ensure she was clean.
"Look up." She heard Sesshomaru's voice instruct from behind her, and she did as he commanded, looking up towards the steamy ceiling. As warm water poured down her head and back, she couldn't stop the sigh that escaped from her as Sesshomaru wet her hair. The feeling of his clawed hands scrubbing her head washed away everything; the nervousness of being separated from her son, the remaining bits of tension from his birth, even the shock of realizing that Sesshomaru was helping her bathe. It all faded away as he washed her hair and scrubbed her back. She felt him wring the excess bit of water from her hair once he was done and she resumed her cleaning, grabbing another clean cloth to carefully attend her still sore sex.
Carefully she tended herself while she assumed he washed and waited for her to finish but as the pain became too much, she set the cloth aside and decided to take a break before reattempting that area. It then occurred to her.
"May I wash your hair?" She asked him, peeking over her shoulder to admire his bare form. He considered a moment before he nodded and reached down and spun her stool around. Once she was in place, he turned and presented his back to her. Almost giddy with excitement, she picked up a bucket and slowly stood, ignoring the dull throbbing between her legs as she did. He looked up as she brushed his bangs back to wet them and gently poured water over his head. Washing his hair had been something she'd always wanted to do, but she had been afraid it would've been a strange thing to ask. He had allowed her to brush his hair, but she had never had the opportunity to wash the silky white strands.
He closed his eyes and allowed a rumble to escape his chest as her hands scrubbed his scalp, the sound increasing when she scratched a certain spot on the back of his head. Unable to help herself. She bent down, the angle a bit awkward and placed a kiss on his lips. He didn't hesitate to respond, but she kept the kiss short as she moved to wash his back, her hands sliding down the pale, muscular body before her in admiration. Her husband really was a work of art.
She admired all of him even as he stood to face her. She didn't hesitate and began to run her cloth across his chest and down his abdomen. She could feel him against her belly as she stood close how he had really begun to respond to her and any doubts she had about how unappealing her body may have been to him after birth disappeared as she wrapped her hand around his semihard cock.
The rumble in his chest grew as she stroked him to full mast. His eyes narrowed at her in pleasure, and she leaned into him while she continued to stroke him. He leaned forward to meet her and kissed her deeply, his tongue plundering her mouth until his hips began to thrust into her hand. Takara broke the kiss and turned her attention to her mate's pleasure, feeling the strong throb of his cock in her hand. She released him long enough to drop the cloth she had been washing him with to the side and laced her fingers together and surrounded his shaft with her hands. Her fingers laced together on the underside of his girthy length creating a strong, rippling resistance that created a wonderful sense of friction for him.
Takara slid her hands up and down his cock a few times, gripping the root of him tightly and firmly pulled her way up his shaft a few times before she paused to pay a bit of special attention to the head and repeated the movements. His hands finally moved hers and he tightened her grip to make her hold him firmly. Then he was thrusting into her hand. She watched as the muscles of his body strained and rippled beneath his flawlessly pale skin with raw hunger. Perhaps she wasn't normal after all because she couldn't wait to heal enough to have him inside her again.
Finally, her eyes looked up to meet his. Sky blue met molten honey and as much as she wanted to look away, knew she submit her gaze to his, she wanted to watch him as he achieved his pleasure. He didn't seem to mind and allowed his forehead to rest on hers. The intensity in his gaze made her flush, but she didn't look away. Instead, she watched as his eyes began to narrow and squeezed her hands marginally tighter, ensuring the thick vein on the underside of his cock rubbed tightly against her fingers while her thumbs came together to put additional pressure on the top of his shaft.
His lip lifted in a snarl a moment before his pupils dilated wider, nearly swallowing his amber irises as his hips jerked to her once, twice, three times before warm wetness splashed against her belly in strong ribbons. At last, his eyes closed as he panted lightly to catch his breath and Takara waited until they opened again, still dilated in pleasure before she submitted her gaze and moved to kiss, nip, and nuzzle under his chin and his throat.
"My Takara," his voice rumbled deeply from his chest.
"Your Takara," She acknowledged, releasing his shaft to step into his body. He folded his arms around her and held her. She turned her head to press an ear to his chest and underneath the steady rumble that emanated from him his heart slowly began to settle back to its normal rhythm.
"Thank you, My Treasure." He finally said as he released her and bent to retrieve a cloth to clean the remnants of his seed from their bodies.
"I want to bathe like this every day." She told him with a smile as she eased herself back onto her stool.
He smirked as he bent down and moved her stool closer to the bench that lined the wall. "As do I, but perhaps we should wait until you're healed. Forgive me for not being able to return the pleasure right now." He motioned to the bench behind her. "Lean back."
Takara instantly obeyed and leaned against the bench behind her. He grabbed a large glass bowl from one of the shelves and filled it with the water from the hot spring that fell into the pool as opposed to the water in the pool. He next grabbed several clean cloths and dropped them into the bowl. Setting the bowl down, he dropped to a kneel in front of her stool and gently opened her thighs.
Takara flushed as he grabbed a cloth from the bowl and lightly wrung some of the water out before he set about cleaning her sex. "You don't have to do that, Sesshomaru." She told him, trying not to wince because she knew he was being exceedingly gentle. "I can wash down there."
He spared her a glance but said nothing as he continued. He hadn't spoken, but Takara knew there was no point in arguing. Instead, she made every effort to not show any signs of discomfort as he tended her. It wasn't easy but she managed.
"It is I who should apologize, Takara." He finally spoke.
"For what?" To the best of her knowledge, he hadn't done anything wrong.
"For losing control when Kuromaru was conceived. It is why he was born as he was. Had I maintained better control, he may not have been born in the form he is or have been so large."
He waited for her to accept his apology as he thought she would, but instead she closed her thighs and sat up, glaring angrily at him. "Take that back." She commanded. He was too surprised by her anger for his own to flare up at her challenge. When he didn't respond she spoke again. "Take. That. Back. Sesshomaru." He was still confused by her words but this time he was able to speak.
"Why are you upset when I have apologized?" To be honest, it was one of the few times in his life he had.
"Because there is nothing wrong with our son." She practically growled at him. "He is perfect the way he is, and I don't ever want to hear you say otherwise."
"I never said there was anything wrong with him." He finally managed to find his ability to speak, but his little mate seemed so angry at him he wasn't even sure if he should.
"Then there should be nothing to apologize for. The fact that you even suggested that he should've been born any different than he was makes me wonder if you regret how he was born."
He went to speak but she continued to talk over him.
"I don't care that I can't communicate or understand him the way you do. I don't care that he isn't what most people would consider to be a 'normal child' and I am well aware raising him may present some unique challenges. I don't care about all the odd looks he and I will get when he gets older, and I damn sure won't have anyone disrespect the three of us or I'll Shout them into the afterlife. He's my son and I wouldn't change him in any way."
"But he was so large, and he tore you badly, Takara. It is taking me longer to heal you than I thought it would take and I don't like to see you in pain."
She held his gaze as her temper finally seemed to calm. "It was worth it, and I wouldn't change a thing."
Something squirmed and twisted inside of Sesshomaru as he observed his human mate. Of course, they had fought previously but they were minor spats, aside from their first meeting. It seemed that once again he had put his foot in his mouth when it came to her, and he began to realize why she was upset. He knew InuYasha had told her how things had been for the half demon growing up and that he had warned her to be cautious when making her decision to mate him. InuYasha had been spurned by demons and humans alike and Takara knew that; he was guilty in that too. It dawned on him that she thought he was apologizing for their pup looking different from a somewhat human child when he should've chosen his words more carefully.
He should've stated that he was sorry that she had endured so much pain at his shortcomings, instead he made it sound as if he was unhappy with how his son was born. She knew that if he regretted or resented his pup that she would possibly be the only support for him, and he would have a life similar to that of InuYasha.
"Allow me to try again, My Treasure. I do not regret the form that my pup was born with, I only regret that his form caused you more pain."
His demon felt the last of her anger dissipate and she sighed. "Then you have nothing to apologize for. As I said, I wouldn't change a thing."
Glad to have worked past their misunderstanding, Sesshomaru nodded and opened her thighs once again and resumed cleaning her. When he was finished, he allowed her a few moments to recover before he retrieved a clean yukata for her and helped her dress while he dawned a clean kimono himself. She raised an eyebrow in question at his formal attire.
"I must be prepared to defend the two of you at all times." He answered and she nodded in understanding, knowing he wouldn't budge on that point, especially after how his first wife had been killed. Hell, she was surprised he hadn't punished her for talking to him the way she had, but she didn't regret it. She had been furious.
He bent and scooped her into his arms again and exited the bathhouse, his father still sitting where they had left him and Kuromaru asleep in his lap. He stood and gently deposited the pup back into his mother's embrace and she thanked the elder demon for his time.
"You're welcome, Little one. I find that I enjoy spending time with him, even if he does sleep." He looked to his son then. "I will be in the area." That was all he said before walking away. Takara smiled at his insinuated "I'll be keeping watch on things for you."
Sesshomaru continued on to his rooms and set Takara on the futon instead of her pile of furs. Before she could complain, he went over and rearranged the furs to where they looked more inviting before picking her up and setting her in the pile. Carefully she arranged Kuromaru on her chest before she snuggled back into her cozy cocoon of warmth and yawned. "I don't know how it's possible for me to be tired, but I am." She looked beside her to where Sesshomaru curled around her protectively. "If I'm out for too long, dump some water on me or something this time?"
His body shook ever so slightly with laughter, but he didn't answer. Instead, he simply began to growl softly to her, stroking his son as she fell asleep.
