Headlong
The Palestra – Philadelphia, PA - February 22nd, 2020
The live feed of the pay-per-view began with a simple from black to almost black. The live crowd could easily been heard murmuring, but there was little in the way of visuals to behold for the entire venue had its lights darkened. But it would not be sight that'd be struck first, but rather sound. A looping beat of a drum is continuous, being paired up by a electric guitar revving up. The crowd begins clapping to the beat while a lone spotlight shines down into the middle of an arena. There stands Brain Tanahashi, lead singer for the small rock cover band One Vision. They'd been signed on to HSW for one reason, to hype of the crowds each and every night.
["And You're Rushing Headlong, You've Got A New Goal"]
["And You're Rushing Headlong, Out Of Control"]
["But There Ain't No Stopping"]
["And There's Nothing You Can-
Nothing You Can-
Nothing You Can-
Do About It!"]
The main lights kick in, revealing the rest of the band and the entirety of The Palestra! All 7,000 fans in attendance are up on their feet jamming out to the music, looking pumped up for the oncoming attractions. There's no big brand stage to enter on, but rather a unusual design of two opposite entry ways running from the northeast & southwestern corners of the arena. These narrow but long aisles are lined with an array of tube lighting running diagonally along the guardrail's half the length of the lane. One is illuminated in silver, the other in purple. One Vision are performing within the ring, which has purple ring skirts & turnbuckles, black canvas & ringposts, and silver ropes. Four widescreens have been mounted in each quadrant of The Palestra, providing fans views of both the live PPV feed & cinematics.
One Vision finish with a bit of pyro pops from the rafters to officially ring in the opening of the newest gateway into fictional wrestling. With the instruments needing a few minutes to be deconstructed, attention is given entirely to the commentary team of the evening. The Nostalgia Critic takes on the rule of giving the ruthless and sometimes playful play-by-play, Bennett The Sage is providing for light-hearted color commentary. The card is laid down, everyone has an idea how things SHOULD go on this debut pay-per-view…lets see how much this crazy roster of fictional icons and Fiction Wrestling Multiverse natives can keep on the format.
Miyazaki Maidens & Sarah Ortiz vs. Sophisticated Beauty – Six Women Tag Team Match
The very first match in Heart & Soul history fittingly includes two of the founders of the promotion. It also established the bridge for a long going feud to cross from past to present. Sweet Diva were on a metaphorical pedestal measured in length purely by the arrogance that comes with their pop idol status. Now add in Selena Richardson's self-righteousness; she looks into the mirror and believes every woman should be parallel to her level of glamour and appeal. Anyone below are unfit to even look at her from afar. Together, this trifecta's egos meld into a lethal combination capable of killing you with words & swift action. The bane of Sophisticated Beauty was projected upon The Maidens & Ortiz. The obvious clash is down to the Maidens environmental sympathies which can be expected are balked at by the luxurious lifestyles entertained by Sophisticated Beauty. As for Ortiz, it comes for down to some mere spitefulness. Selena views herself as hardworking, paid more dues than necessary in the business…but Sarah seems to have won the crowd over with her similar grit. So why must the Auburn Beauty be vilified? Its this question that creates the friction between the two, a friction Selena's made sure to hammer into the brains of Elena & Sakura.
It appeared that Sarah was going to lead the charge, eagerly hopping into the ring. But standing across her was Elena Miyazawa, uncharacteristically stern. She points straight on at Nausicaa, wanting to wash off what happened at The Show Must Go On. Nausicaa obliges, swapping spots to begin the contest. They're both evenly matched in weight, nearly even in height, but Elena initially wins over with aggression. Nausicaa manages to block Elena's attempts to suplex her but can't avoid being whacked down with a multitude of shoot kicks that make her prone for a keylock.
Nausicaa eventually gets a respite with a rope break yet is unwilling to bow out. Instead, she's whipped as far away from safety one could be in the ring. Elena tags Sakura quickly, both drilling their heels in as deep they can into Nausicaa's gut. Sakura intends to batter Nausicaa's skull with as many different as possible, but Nausicaa manages to break free long enough to tag San in. Any plans in Sakura's hands quickly evaporate. She wants no part with Princess Mononoke, and quickly tries to tag Selena into the match. San doesn't give her the chance, trying to pull her down to the mat with sheer brute tugs to the neck and shoulders. Sakura comes close to being pulled into a submission but isn't afraid to get dirty as well. She rakes the eyes, and deals a elbow right to the throat of San in order to squirm free!
Sakura tags in Selena, taking a dramatic pace to enter the HSW squared circle for the first time….only for one lone boot to San's face. She insultingly smears the bottom of her boot back and forth continually. One quick. ugly brush of the boot; from cheek to canvas. Brush burns to the face tint San's skin just a few shades from being as crimson as her red arrow tattoos. That was Selena's…ONLY contribution in the fight thus far. She was quick to tag Elena back into the fight.
Elena & San continued to tussle for a few moments, but San managed to tag Sarah into the fight. Yet to wrestle at all thus far tonight, Sarah's energetic arrival sends shock-waves that soon find Elena reeling out on the floor. Sarah leaves all in awe as she makes a hurried jump on the turnbuckle and FLATTENS Elena to the hardwood with a Phoenix Splash OUT of the ring! Selena & Sakura extinguish the fan's cheers, they swamp Sarah and throw vertebrae first into the barricades. The Maidens take to the air, dual planchas drop Selena & Sakura to the floor. The rescue soon turns into disaster, a breakdown in communication leads to Sarah nearly running through San with a bicycle kick. Elena had managed to duck out, yanking Sarah violently neck first into the edge of the canvas. Nausicaa & San are ushered off by the referee, unable to aid Sarah.
Elena brings the battered up Female Enigma back within the squared circle. She spends considerably time to put strain on the neck, traps & shoulder blades. Elena brings Sakura back in, the Sophisticated Beauty are clearly looking to set Sarah up for the Sakura Driver EX. Sarah is persistent of trying to break out, at times getting a good kick in on Sakura. She gets close to tagging in Nausicaa, but Selena had raced to the other side of the ring to yank Selena off the canvas. San becomes too busy to chase the Auburn Beauty back to her legal side of the ring, forcing Sarah to fend off the continually 2v1 onslaught from the pop idols. Sakura and Elena alternate in the ring at a hyper pace, the crowd begins to doubt the chances of the beaten down Sarah. Selena is tagged in, still the most well rested of all six combatants. She wants to get that one final shot in before Sweet Diva do away with Sarah…
…
Selena's ego blinds her. Sarah manages to quickly overwhelm the laid back Auburn Beauty, butting heads and diving out with a tag in to Nausicaa. Nausicaa and Selena have a bit of a see-saw battle, but Selena's new throbbing headache keeps her from keeping much focus. The One Clad In Blue lays Selena down with a double knee backbreaker, prone for the Leap Of Faith. Sakura distracts the official, as Elena shoves Nausicaa off the turnbuckle! San darts the length of the apron, swinging around the ring post and cutting the pop idol down with a powerful double foot leg drop. The damage to Nausicaa, however, had already been down by her nasty spill to the mat. Selena picks away at Nausicaa's injured arm, twisting and thrashing the arm with hopes of straining the shoulder and neck muscles. She tags Sakura back in, helps to set Nausicaa up with the Sakura Driver…
…
…
…
SAN Manages To Make The Safe! Selena Goes After San, Wanting No More Than To Bust Her Face Across The Barricades. Nausicaa Break Away From Sakura's Grasp And Tags Sarah Back In. Sakura Tries To Take The Female Enigma Out With A Bicycle Knee Strike. Sarah Ducks, Continuing Toward The Enemy's Corner And Kicks The Ailing Elena Off The Apron (Just After Elena Had At Last Recovered From San's Dropkick). Sarah's Stunted In Her Offense With A Pele Kick, But Manages To Break Out Of Sakura's Attempts For The Misaki Special. Sakura Quickly Finds Herself The One Doomed For A Suplex, Head Is Caught In A Standing Butterfly. She's Planted Into The Canvas With The Divine Phoenix! Sarah Picks Up The First Win In Heart & Soul On Behalf Of The Miyazaki Maidens.
Alex Minazuki vs. Johnny Alvarez
Alex Minazuki looks like he's torn from the manga pages of the latest magical franchise, just recently glued to the gritty walls of Philadelphia. That's the kindest comparison he could get, as the poor lad is heckled the moment he entered The Palestra. Upon that, nobody knows anything about him until Bennett begins to rattle off Alex's prior career running various indy circuits in his native England and adoptive country of Japan. To make matters worse, he can see trouble coming…in the form of Johnny Alvarez. His anthem of "Spolin For A Fight" by AC/DC brings the blood thirsty phillies to their feet. But Johnny isn't there to appease the crowd, he's there to bash knuckles into skulls…Alex's skull to be precise.
The opening couple of minutes see Johnny trying to rush upon Alex and take him out quickly. The Spoiled Fighter is taking this less as a wrestling match and more as a one-sided boxing fight. He throws multiple punches that Alex ducks. Alex attempts to fire back with a roundhouse kick, something Johnny had calculated a mile away. What he didn't count on was Alex whipping all his body weight to his right in order to drill his left foot square in the back of Johnny's head! As Alex tumbles free to the mat, the first sight he see is Johnny's cocky expression going blank. Johnny within milliseconds got Durham's Number One hurdling through the air and folding up against the hard mat from a german suplex!
Its obvious to everyone Alvarez now intends to send Alex to Suplex City as quick as he can. Another german is attempted, but Alex managers to pull free…only to get his leg hooked and tossed anyways with Rebellious Habits (Swinging Leg Hook Belly-To-Back Suplex)! A tempo had been set for the next minute or so, with Johnny mostly succeeded in tossing Alex left and right. But Alex was showing continued resilience that was not being hampered by his back constantly slamming into the hard canvas. He at last finds a break, using the ropes to tug himself out of Johnny's merciless grasp. Alex clings to the ropes, once more kicking Johnny in the head. The dazed Johnny soon has his cranium planted via DDT as Alex slingshots his way back into the squared circle. He's quick to try for a pin, which the Spoiled Fighter predictably shrugs off in a hurry.
Johnny continues to ensnare Alex in various grapples, but the Cure Phenomenal finds a plethora of avenues of escape. At one point he weaves his way out of the Kayo Driver (gutwrench backbreaker rack into piledriver), crawling around to Johnny's back and almost getting him into some sort of octopus stretch. He would had succeeded if Johnny hadn't caught on quick enough, as the Spoiled Fighter quickly dropped to the mat and consequently had Alex pinned. Some more sparring gave Alex the opportunity to go for a variant of his Minazuki Rain Maker. He gets the wrist lock applied….but Johnny is able to break free of the attempted side slam. He shoots his shoulder abruptly into Alex's gut, Durham's Number One pop ups in the air before…."Here's Johnny!"…A European Uppercut Careens Into Alex's Jaw!
"Here's Alex!" Johnny shouts ….proceeding to jiggle his arms and legs all about, leaning back sluggishly on the ropes, a taunt at the Cure Phenomenal. Some cheer, others jeer, but the one response Johnny wasn't anticipating a Rolling Elbow (Discus Elbow Smash) with such ferocity its shock-waves send him bewildered in the corner. Alex abruptly realizes the opportunity presented to him, and rushes at Johnny for another superkick…..which is a feint….as the Psyche kick instead tries to drill a crater in Johnny's sternum! The Cure Phenomenal is in the driver' seat of the match, out pacing and out gunning The Spoiled Fighter at every turn.
Its only when Alex tries to knock Johnny silly for the finale that things falter. He blocks what Alex calls the Cheeky Nandos Kick, a superkick to someone perched upon the turnbuckles. With his foot now got in Johnny's clutches, he has nowhere to go and takes a diving elbow square into the skull. Back to a few more suplexes and additional blunt spikes to key parts of Alex's physique. Alex's resistance has weakened, and unable to prevent Johnny from hitting the Maverick's Creed (Package Powerbomb)…
…
But Alex Stuns Johnny & Philly By Kicking Out!
The Spoiled Fighter is taken aback, but not thrown off his game. He is soon plucking Alex from his dazed slumber on the canvas for the Knockout Package (Package Piledriver). But The Cure Phenomenal clings desperately around Johnny's neck, preventing him from dropping Alex's skull into the canvas. The piledriver impossible at the moment, Johnny slackens his hold…and gets a European Uppercut shot right at his mental protuberance! The Spoiled Fighter is hurting, clutching is jaw, as the Cure Phenomenal is fired up! A Roundhouse drops Johnny to the canvas, the Rugby Punt flattens him to the canvas! The crowd is 100% behind the Cure Phenomenal, Alex takes a moment to soak in all the sights and sounds. He got everyone in his hand, and is prepared to prove why an additional nickname of his is The Cure of the Shooting Star!...
…
The Shiniest Shooting Star Press Ever (Corkscrew Shooting Star Press) MISSES, Johnny bursts back to life and rolls away as Alex crashes down on the unforgiven mat! The Spoiled Fighter pops to his feet, wiping a trickle of blood that have crest over his lip…
…
Knockout Package, Alex's mass all compresses on his cranium, with only his spine for suspension! Johnny shows a bit of Taker flayer by crossing both of Alex's arms to achieve the pin, victory for the Spoiled Fighter.
Armed Vanguards vs. Gospel Of Wealth
Alex Mason & Frank Woods receive a jubilant welcome from the 7,000 fans within The Palestra. Woods looks to be ecstatic to be back home and reeving up to bulldoze other anyone who is going to ruin the hometown atmosphere. As for Mason, he's just sort of going along with the motions. A bit distant from all the bravado of the pay-per-view, yet still there mentally enough to be backing Woods for the upcoming contest. There opponents are a curious bunch. Five figures back their way down the aisle, though the two dressed to compete are at point. A man with sooty brown hair that's finely shaved for a full bear dressed in almost antique black wrestling trunks, another gentleman with a chestnut goatee dressed in a red singlet. Known as Scott Carnegie & Wilson C Frick respectively, these men may lack the look of wealth. But something about their demeanor, merely the way their spine holds them up in the face of the Vanguards…there's some sort of over-assurance they have everything set in the world for them to be satisfied.
Their in-ring prowess can't match their self-esteem. Mason & Woods have a field day picking apart these well-to-do guys who look like they paid for work through a droplet of sweat in their entire lives. Although Frick manages to show some flares of raw strength to lift Woods from the mat on several occasions, neither Frick nor Carnegie could match the One Man Army that is Mason. Bodies go flying via exploder suplexes, Carnegie is put in a daze after being on the receiving end of the Number Driver (Pumphandle Half Nelson Driver), and the Vanguards put Frick down for an attempted pin via Payback (Double Vertical Suplex into Double Backbreaker). Carnegie manages to make the break at the last possible moment.
The Gospel Of Wealth still manage to tilt the table, however. Carnegie & Frick are continually able to spoil what should be the Armed Vanguard's victory time and time again. The other three members of the faction patrol around the ring the entire match; Cyrus Morrell, Nora Mellon & Lauren Pitcairn. Lauren has the loudest mouth of them all, and continually to seemingly be arguing with the referee. The Gospel Of Wealth seem to also have an ally in form of time itself. Counts from the referee seem to continually slow when they are in the favor of Frick or Carnegie. Woods grows increasingly frustrated with all the interference, and never seeming to get that three count, that he looses much focus on the grander scope of the match. Frick & Carnegie ultimately manage to out pace a enraged Woods and put him away with what Frick call's his Strike Breaker (Cobra Clutch Slam) to pick up the win. The decision is extremely unpopular among most seated in The Palestra, with cries going so far to claim the official (Mike Attitude) had sold out! Regardless of how sketchy the decision, the result remained with a victory for the Gospel Of Wealth.
Suits & Wildcard Battle Royale – Winner Challenges For The Women's Championship At Innuendo
Focus now shifted prominently to the question of what shall the female half of Heart & Soul look like? Yes, everyone had seen the six woman tag but that had been made up of entirely established names. What were the new faces that would appear for the first time? Where there any faces looking for redemption? Who was here looking to go steady in yet another promotion? Hence the need for a Battle Royale to showcase to the paying crowd what they can expect from the female roster of Heart & Soul. Of course, it wasn't just a mere exhibition. Whoever was the last one standing would be awarded placement in a Fatal Four Way Match at Heart & Soul's year ending show, Innuendo, to have the chance to be crowned the first women's champion in the company.
The twist (which was TOTALLY not lifted from ANY other REAL LIFE promotion IN ANY capacity…nope….nada…) comes form the fact that 20 of the participants will be released in 3 minute intervals within a cluster of wrestlers determined by the suit of the card they had drawn. One lucky wrestler had in her possession a Queen, allowing them to sit back while everyone else exhausts themselves throughout the match until the Queen is at last called out.
Clubs
Dazzling Rose, Karen Cashew, Lucia Siycron, Linna Yamazaki, Shayne Daniels
Clubs are up first, and each one are given time for their own entrance. Mabushii Bara, translated as Dazzling Rose in the states, prances out in her pink kimono with golden traced floral designs. Even with her pink mask that matches the dye in her hair, she still makes an instant bond with the crowd. Karen Cashew on the other hand gets anything but. Walking to a rhythm only she hears, a smile grows over her face. Laughing at her 'competition', or disgusted by those within the crowd? Linna Yamazaki doesn't get much of a response, her name has never been heard by anyone in The Palestra. Aerobics instructor by day, mercenary by night; just gives a innocent smile and bow to the crowd even though they yet to know what to make of her. Shayne Daniels comes stomping out, rekindling the crowds cheers. She leaves her leather hoodie/jacket behind at the mouth of her entry way and darts toward the ring. Each foot she takes lands at a different pace, its obvious how passionate she is about getting that slot secured at Innuendo. The crowd's spine stiffen, a chill soon runs through the arena. The Last Siycron moves with a calculated stride toward the ring. Lucia comes with the most decorations out of the five Clubs, as well as the most frightening presence.
The early moments see Karen & Lucia jumping upon the unknown Linna. Shayne tussles with the mysterious Dazzling Rose, avoiding a Flying Spinning Heel Kick that would have sent her into delirium. Linna is almost out of the ring, but Karen sees a opportunity to flip both Lucia & Linna over the ropes. Neither are eliminated, however, as one the former lasts to the bottom rope while Lucia hugs the top. Shayne & Karen fight, the Grimm Queen extends her leg for her boot to drive deep into Shayne's throat. Shayne's neck is nearly hyper-extended, her spine is squeezed against the turnbuckles before being rattled with a snapping enzugiri.
Spades
Isla Woods, Opal, Helena Kay Nicholl, Millicent Breathnach, Priss Asagiri
In no time at all, the Spades were released into the fight. No time for fanfare with individual entrances, all five hurry down the aisle. The Flower Girl, Isla Woods, is in a rush to get in and dominate the ring. She immediately dog piles on top of Shayne, her and Karen form a quick bond of egos and push the Fallen Angel over the turnbuckle for the first elimination. Opal goes on a springboard spree, bouncing from opponent to opponent and taking them down with clotheslines and dropkicks. Karen & Isla soon silence her, and try to get her eliminated. But Opal is spared for the moment by one of the FWM's newest faces looking to make a impact.
Millicent Breathnach, nicknamed The Emerald Amazon, clasps her arms around Karen and yanks her into a Bearhug. Karen tries to scratch out, kicking her heels about to dig into Millicent's legs but to no avail. Millicent instead gives the others in the match a few moments free of Karen via a fallaway slam. Priss Asagiri, the famed lead singer of the underground band The Replicants, is targeted by Lucia. Priss gains an edge when her fellow Knightsaber, Linna, manages to spike the alien in the back of a head with a running high knee. The two try to cast Lucia out of the match but are impeded by the Isla & Karen duo, now made a trio by Helena Kay Nicholl. Nicholl's snap suplex stuns Linna, Isla & Karen toss her over the top and to the floor. They were quickly turning to pick up the pieces of Lucia before The Dazzling Rose & Opal raced into the frey.
Diamonds
Evelyn Cano, Minnie May Hopkins, Suki, Leslie Haines, Lucy Araya-Hirano
Those with Diamonds were unleashed 6 minutes in. Evelyn Cano had to duck for cover for the sky was raining Opals…in that Millicent had body pressed the poor airbender sky high over the top rope for the elimination. Millicent jumped in place, ready to take on the next five participants. Only Lucy Arya-Hirano is bold enough to charge headlong at the Emerald Amazon, trying to compress her neck against the top rope but to no avail. Lucy is eventually shaken off and back to the floor (not eliminated, not in the ring yet), but the distraction had bought time for the skilled Kyoshi Warrior that is Suki to sneak under the ropes and uproot Millicent's right leg. Seeing Suki's plight, many stop what they are doing and try to tip the powerhouse out of the equation.
They may have succeeded if it weren't for Karen, Isla & Helena, too stubborn to work and wanting to pick off the fan favorites for their own pleasure. Isla's VinylScratch (Killswitch) stops the high flying Dazzling Rose, Helena & Karen dispose of her remains. Karen shortly after got Evelyn by the hair and thinks she had enough momentum to cast her out as well…. but Evelyn had enough where-with-all to get a foot extended to block the rope. Lucia sees Karen struggling…. And Wrenches Between The Legs Of The Grimm Queen, Rolling Her Over Evelyn's Shoulders And Out Of The Match! The crowd rejoices, if only briefly, as Isla & Helena yank Lucia back and hit a double Inverted DDT.
Leslie Haines had taken her sweet, sweet time strolling to the ring. Flanked by her bodyguard Bruce Hogan, she can care less about getting involved with the highlights. She's been slowly pacing around ringside, with Hogan scouting the action on her behalf and trying to find the perfect opportunity for her to swoop in and strike the others. She sees Millicent continuing to dominate, hearing the crowd grow more and more pulled him by her charisma. Millicent always is hardy when bashing skulls, doing it with a genuine smile, not one reeking in arrogance.
A variety of combatants try to get Millicent eliminated but to no avail. One particularly determined is the tiny statured lady known as Minnie May Hopkins. Minnie May continually risks elimination by jumping from the ropes to latch onto her prey. It's not from cockiness she flies, its just the only way she can be on even footing with most of those cramming the squared circle. Her attempts to get Millicent out are brave but in vain for the time being. As for Isla, she seems to have run out of time. Suki manages to block Isla's continual kicks and rushes. Suki feeds The Flower Girl into the arms of Priss. The fans pop as Priss cuts down Isla with a seemingly endless spiral from a spinning kick to the head, to the abdomen, then the double knee facebreaker, Bubblegum Crash. The Flower Girl is fed over the lip of the ropes, dropping to the cold floor just before the final set of 5 make their entrance.
Hearts
Rally Vincent, Christina Thorogood, Remi Bordeaux, Kaylie Kassiss, Ty-Lee
The Hearts are the last deck to be released to fight for the slot at Innuendo. Rally Vincent is the most eager to enter the thick of the fight. The gunsmith teams upper with her partner in crime Minnie May. But the wave of Hearts also gave Suki he own ally in the form of Ty-Lee. The former circus performer turned chi-fighter turned Kyoshi Warrior quickly becomes tied to Suki. The Kyoshi Warriors soon find a line drawn against the Gunsmith Cats (Rally & Minnie May), a struggle to see which duo will reign supreme to have the edge in numbers for eliminations.
At the onset of the last deck arriving for the battle royale, Leslie remained on the outside watching everything unfold. She takes note of the apathetic crimson tinged Christina Thorogood & the energetic auburn Remi Bordeaux, both enter the match with opposing enthusiasm. The Brit-Egyptian Kaylie Kassiss hurries to the ring….pauses before entering…..then backtracks to be eye-to-eye with Leslie. The Heiress scouting time is over, Kaylie isn't going to stand for her getting a free rest. Bruce, however, darts in front of Leslie to block an initial punch from Kaylie. The Pharaoh is furious and tries to shove him aside…getting CLUBBED in the face with a forearm smash, Leslie was using Bruce as a shield and waiting for the right moment to counterattack! The two have a brief fistfight, Leslie gets the upper hand and inserts both herself & Kaylie into the match proper.
Priss had become locked into a power of sheer strength between Millicent, the two stumbling through the turmoil between the Gunsmith Cats & The Kyoshi Warriors. The two begin trying to push the other further and further over the ropes. Lucy & Lucia (there's a tongue twister) see the Emerald Amazon teetering on the brink of collapse, jump over to try and give Priss the brief advantage. Priss haphazardly hops out on the apron, gaining more leverage on Millicent but at the risk of having herself eliminated. Helena sees the developing story and CRASHES into Millicent with a dropkick to her hip. Millicent teeters over but grabs the ropes, crashing and knocking Priss off the apron and out of the match.
Helena hons her sights in on the Latina Diva, Evelyn. She'd been reeling from several cheap shots from some of the participants, and only brought to her feet by Helena peeling up her jaw with the very point of her boot. Helena grabbed the very edges of Evelyn's hair and tried to throw her out, but got a backhand chop instead. The Latina Diva wanted to fight fair with respect, trying to lock up for vertical. Helena washed her fist instead with a sink full of Evelyn's jaw, following up with a few elbow smashes. A few steps back, Helena attempted the Nicholl Legacy (Running Big Boot)….But Was Interrupted By Rally & Minnie May Whipping Suki Across The Ring! The tag team brawl spilled over the top of Helena, allowing Evelyn to pick up what remained to execute the Divine Revelation (Handspring Backflip Kick).

Pyrrha Nikos. Once The Hearts Were Set Loose, There Wasn't Much Surprise On Who Drew The Lucky Lone Queen. The Crowd Sprouted To Stand, Immediately Raining Down The Endless Chants Of "Pyr-rha! Pyr-rha! Pyr-rha!" As The Iconic Marching Beat Of "Invasion" Blasts Into Each Person's Ears…

But those chants gradually petered out into confusion, no Invincible Girl in sight. The four large screens mounted within each corner of the arena had shown a prolonged image down the hallway everyone anticipated Pyrrha to march down just before emerging in the arena. But there was no Pyrrha rounding the corner, or anywhere in frame. Just when its quite obvious something is amiss, we see several stage hands rushing across the hall. The cameraman soon decides to pursue the cluster of people, and around the corner reveals the immediate aftermath of a hit-and-run. Pyrrha lies face down, barely conscious, her red hair seems to be drenched in water that's pooled out across the hall…part of the stone wall seemingly having given way and perfectly toppled over her back. Its obvious she's in no state to realistically compete, let alone able to stand with all the broken stone pinning her down. The sudden commotion has been severe enough to bring Nausicaa, the new found company's COO whose still dressed in ring attire, to survey the scene.
Unsure of what to do, the camera cuts back to the battle royale as the crowd are in confused murmurs. Will there even be a 21st entrant? If not, then its very clear who the fans are in support of. Millicent gains get another elimination by tossing Christina Thorogood with such power that the poor girl nearly lands ribs first upon the steel barricades! Helena will have none of Millicent trying to upstage her, trying to batter the Emerald Amazon. For the first time Millicent is visibly hurting after a nasty kick aimed not at the jaw but right at the eyes!
Rally & Minnie May have managed to put The Kyoshi Warriors in peril. Ty-Lee was seemingly taken out of action earlier with a flapjack lift provided by Rally to nearly decapitate her with a springboard leg drop from Minnie May. Suki was managing to cling to life, both hands dug deep into the middle rope. The Gunsmith Cats put so much effort in trying to flip the warrior upside down and over the ropes but to no avail…enough time for Ty-Lee to have regathered some strength to race across the top rope and take Both The Gunsmith Cats down to the mat with some innovated springboard split kick, one foot for each adversary!
Leslie thought she had disposed of Kaylie following a sitout facebuster. She intended to cast her out of the squared circle, but became distracted with a much bigger prize. Millicent was being backed into a corner by Helena, and Leslie couldn't help but join in to help eliminate the Emerald Amazon. The two rich girls each focused on one of the legs, trying to push Millicent up on the top of the ring post. Remi jumps into the frey, pouncing on Helena and dumping her over the ropes….but The Royal Highness manages to get one hand to cling on the ropes. Remi doesn't see, as she was being battered by Leslie.
All 12 women remaining and all of Philadelphia quickly have their eyes taken off the prize…

But The Auburn Beauty, Selena Richardson, Was Walking To The Ring For A Second Time Tonight! By Whatever Means, She Had Wormed Her Way Into The Coveted 21st Slot Of The Battle Royale! Ever Step Is With Hardened Purpose, Here Eyes Are Fixed Entirely Of The Chaos She Has Frozen By Her Mere Presence. Fans Quickly Begin To Make Assumptions Even Without Evidence, And Boo As Loud As They Can At Their Chosen Suspect Of Pyrrha's Hit-And-Run. How Could Selena Drop A Wall On Pyrrha? Logic Isn't On The Table Right Now Folks, Only Rage From The Audience!
With a true wildcard having been tossed into the shuffle, almost have of the remaining participants drop what they are doing and dart to try and eliminate the Auburn Beauty. Any coordinated effort quickly evaporates by opportunity seekers, the match breaking back down into its chaotic nature. Leslie jabs at Lucy, The Angel From Hellview has no issues retreating up on the top of the buckles. The ropes shake from all the activity, she could go at any moment….but Leslie is uprooted by full-nelson suplex from Kaylie! The Heiress is splayed out and crushed to the canvas by Lucy's Hellview Splash (Frog Splash). Lucy quickly kips up, stunning Kaylie next. She shoves The Pharaoh clear into the ropes, Kaylie teeters repeatedly but gains some separation via her leg.
Evelyn & Lucia had been entangled for some time trying to get the other throw out of the ring. Even with her petite sizes Lucia still manages to dominate in the strength department, but the Latina Diva is far quicker and soon has her dazed near the ropes. Lucia wisely dips down low enough that Evelyn's running dropkick sends her tumbling through the MIDDLE rope, no elimination gained. A Disaster Kick from Selena whacks into Evelyn's temple. The dazed Latina Diva is momentarily disabled, no way to consciously block Selena's powerful lariat that overturns her out on the apron. Evelyn tries to hold to the middle rope with all her remaining stamina, but stomps to her fingers leads to her slipping and tumbling out of the match.
The ongoing match within a match that had been the Gunsmith Cats & The Kyoshi Warriors brawl reach its zenith, Suki managed to catch Minnie May in mid air and toss her to the floor. Rally tried to batter Suki into a corner, but Ty-Lee made the rescue yet again with a quick succession of punches to the shoulders that stun the last remaining Gunsmith Cat. All three soon get swamped by Helena & Selena's team up efforts to try and eliminate Millicent. In the pile up that ensues in the corner, Millicent is pressed hard to the ropes. Simultaneously Rally is trying to push Ty-Lee over also. It seems all remaining participants become awash on the right side of the ring, pushing against whomever was up against the ropes. Millicent manages to cling on but Ty-Lee tumbles to the floor thanks to a combined effort of Rally, Remi & Helena. Remi too is soon dumped out by Helena taking advantage, the one half of Montreal's Finest takes a nasty spill shoulders first to the unforgiven floor below.
As the match crossed the 15 minute boundary, Lucia had outlast the majority of the competition. She was trying to play low at this rate, hoping everyone had forgot. But Leslie Haines had not forgot, having been scouting to try to get a leg up earlier in the night. Leslie had found some way to drop the Outer Space Seductress to her knees, briefly strangling her with the Interrotwist (Camel Clutch). Lucy saw form afar just how close The Heiress was to the ropes, and unintentionally saved Lucia with a hurricanrana that ALMOST sent Leslie out. But Leslie rebounds and catches Lucy's neck with her legs. Leslie purposefully ensnares her arms in the ropes and pivots to the outside, yanking the Angel From Hellview with her. Lucy folds and drops, her feet (unfortunately) perfectly brushing the floor. But Leslie won't be able to gloat, as Kaylie takes the advantage of upside down Heress and knocks her to the floor as well!
Rally is soon caught trying to springboard for a Tornado DDT, Lucia holds her still and instead spikes her head into the canvas with Kiss & Torment (Reverse STO). The Gunsmith Cat is unceremoniously dumped out of the contest by the Last Of The Siycrons. Suki is not long for this match either, as Selena & Helena gang up to drive the Kyoshi Warrior out with dual superkicks. This would be there only interaction, as neither can see the other as being for fit to be promised gold. The two heels start tearing up one another. Selena manages to get the upper hand on Helena via a Beauty Buster (Full Nelson Facebuster). Helena, whose had her hand in the most eliminations, goes through a gauntlet to satisfy Philadelphia. Lucia hits Helena with the Black Hole Slam, Kaylie fires up with the Flank & Center (Dual Knee Strikes Followed By A DDT), Selena pops Helena with Aburned (Rolling Cutter) and Millicent finishes the quartet with a modified Dublin Watchtower (Inverted Full Nelson Into A Sit-Out Powerbomb…but for this special case just a standard powerbomb over the top rope) that eliminates the Royal Highness.
Clicking toward the 20 minute mark, only four remain. Each take a moment to contemplate their next actions, retracting into the ring corners. The Auburn Beauty has the most stamina. The Last Of The Siycrons is the longest lasting. The Emerald Amazon is the strongest. The Pharaoh is the quickest. Lucia & Millicent battle one and other into a corner. Lucia's spin is pressed up against the top buckle, but a flurry of fists brings her back down and puts Millicent on the ropes. Selena & Kaylie try to lend a hand, all three women trying desperately to free themselves of the threat to their success that is Millicent. The Emerald Amazon nearly goes over, her foot hovering just milimeters above the floor….but stabilizes her back on the shelf that is the ring apron. Selena sees an opportunity and doesn't hesitate, flipping Kaylie Over The Top Rope And Expelling Her From The Match!
Down to three, or should we say two at the moment. Millicent takes a moment to breath and hug the bottom rope, while Selena is trying so viciously to eliminate the longest lasting opponent. The crowd have been swaying back and forth on their sentiments for Lucia, but are now fully backing the Outer Space Seductress. They want the hardest working to beat out the one who got in on a fluke. Selena seemed to have the upper hand, bombarding Lucia with her saw like kicks to cut deep into the abdomen. Lucia is unwilling to surrender, tapping into some alien energy she'd been keeping under lock and key til the right time. A powerful releasing german skips the Auburn Beauty like stones on water clear across the ring, legs dropping out under the bottom rope. Lucia pulls Selena back in, tries to properly kick her out to the floor but a EYERACK blinds Lucia. Selena hits Auburned and unceremoniously tosses her over the ropes and out of contention.
Just two left, with the hopes of all the fans in Philly riding on the shoulders of the previously unknown Emerald Amazon. Unfortunately, she's a marked woman in the eyes of Selena, who tries to storm head-on at Millicent. She's able to absorb the bulk of the jabs, taking Selena off her feet with the Braun Rocks (Sidewinder Suplex). Two fists pumps in the air, harnessing the passion from the crowd to start delivering a series of rolling suplexes. The Auburn Beauty soon finds herself perched upon Millicent shoulders, as the Emerald Amazon tries eliminating her with a powerbomb…

With Selena repeatedly Punching Millicent's Knuckles Until She No Longer Can Cling To Life, Plummeting To The Floor! The Killer Queen wipes from memory her earlier loss by etching her name FIRST in the pursuit for the women's championship. Philadelphia are in disbelief, sickened still by the hit-and-run Pyrrha had been a apart of, seeming to hand this opportunity to Selena on a golden plater. But a golden plater is the sweetest way to achieve success in Selena's mind. To The Auburn Beauty, this was a fair trade in for an earlier loss that was one of humiliation. She had the last laugh on Heart & Soul & Philadelphia.
Connor MacLeod vs. Vash The Stampede
["HERE WE ARE…BORN TO BE KINGS"]
["WE'RE THE PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE!"]
["HERE WE BELONG…FIGHTING TO SURIVE!"]
["IN A WORLD WITH THE DARKEST POWERS!"]
The upcoming bout was a battle between two men whose younger appearances masked their age and knowledge of the world entire. One was a newcomer to the fictional wrestling circuit. He was born Connor MacLeod of the MacLeod Clan from 16th Century Scotland. He's moved down through the centuries, living a plethora of secret lives. The other goes by the name Vash The Stampede. He's lived a century and a half, but his personality has been spared agitation by the sands of time. With over two decades of being in the ring that range from the days of extreme in Blood & Ink to the bright lights of WWE: Animated, Vash is what you could call a near master of the squared circle. The Humanoid Typhoon walks to face an adversary that might just be wiser with age but as green as any other rookie could be.
The opening moments are one of caution & experimentation. Aside from a test of strength via a collar-elbow tie up, Connor is entirely on the defensive. Trying to continually block Vash's tries at a variety of suplexes. Vash quickly shifts to more quick strikes, eventually softening up Connor with a Tornado DDT. Now come the suplexes, with the highlight being a Fisherman Suplex, The Highlander had enough sense to get out of the ring before Vash could go any further. That may have not been the wisest idea however, as Vash SOARS over the tope rope with a suicide dive!
Vash starts to return to his early days in ECW's Blood & Ink, the Philadelphia crowd eating up every moment he begins to whip Connor into the barricades. After clotheslining Connor up and over the lip of the guard rail, he takes a moment to pause. Accepting a fan's alcoholic refreshment, he leads all of Philadelphia in a toast of "Love And Peace!" But peace will have to wait, with Connor catching Vash off guard and hitting his own clothesline upon the collarbone. The match spills back into the ring, with Connor waiting patiently for Vash to sputter back to his feet to go for a dropkick. Vash manages to evade but would not be so lucky later, getting pulled into a Lifting DDT.
Both men go the length of the mat as Connor continually tries to land a fist. Vash catches each one, countering every time with attempted kicks that Connor bats out of the way. The Highlander has Vash pressed and dumps him back to the floor with a mighty clothesline. Connor gives a bit of a mock, motioning for the Humanoid Typhoon to re-enter the ring. The roles are reversed, as now it Vash contemplating his next move of attack…..that being to go back to chilling with Philadelphia. Connor will have none of this, storming out to grab him before he can enter the crowd. But Vash was playing Connor, side stepping and giving Connor a nudge so her lands jaw first into barricade! Some scuffling transpires, before Vash tries to whip The Highlander back in the ring. Connor stops his own momentum with a boot up against the edge of the canvas, jabbing Vash with a elbow. He tries to whip Vash into the ring post but to no avail. Vash slips between the crevasse between post and buckles, holding onto Connor's arm and yanking him headlong into the post.
Vash tried to finish the match off with the Long Colt (Lifting Double Underhook Sitout Facebuster), but after three failed attempts it's the Humanoid Typhoon that finds himself splayed out on the canvas by a back body drop. Vash was whacked with haziness after a step-up enzugiri. But attempts to gain wrist control for a lariat are thwarted as Vash keeps his own hand pinned down to the canvas. Connor's response is a ugly stomp right to Vash's spine! The Humanoid Typhoon seems to be exasperated after Connor keeps him held vertical for several seconds…before dropping him with a Vertical Suplex Side-Slam, impressing much of the crowd.
Connor was trying to make the conditions perfect to execute his unseen finisher, Decapitation (Spinning High Impact Lariat). But Vash put up a tough fit, using every way he knew to get out of suffering the vicious lariat. He ducks Connor's forearm, wrapping him up in an attempt at the Gunsmoke Fire (Sitout Side Slam). Connor has caught on and wraps Vash's head in a headlock, spinning over and spiking him with a rolling cutter! But Vash still manages to avoid Decapitation…..by holding out a peace sign? Connor is confused for all of a second, but its enough for Vash to break free and run for the turnbuckle. Connor pursues…And Is Levelled By The Angel Arm (Diving Discus Clothesline)! Connor's legs are grapevine, he tries to break out but not enough to get out before three. Although an impressive debut, The Highlander still has much to learn about in-ring fighting. Vash The Stampede takes home the victory in the city where we started his wrestling career.
Naofumi Iwatani & Raphtalia vs. Renton Thurston & Eureka
In 2006, it could be argued that the anime couple of the year were the pilots of the Nirvash. Fast forward to 2019, that title could be considered for The Shield Hero and his Katana Sword Hero. Whether it was a legit consensus or not, Renton was out right envious. This brashness had driven him to success in places such as AWF & NCW but had not brought him the full attention he felt he & his beloved coralian deserved. Seeing Naofumi & Raphtalia get high promotion, so much so as being featured on a multitude of Heart & Soul teaser products before a single show had occurred was the last straw. Without questioning Eureka, he demanded this mix tag match be booked for Headlong.
For Naofumi, a squared circle was the last place he could imagine being in. Fortunately, he did has his shield with him…in that he has no legit way of removing the legendary shield from him without having it just reattach. Renton is right in this sense to call him out on a foreign object, but charges in head with a full blown bullheaded attitude anyways. All Naofumi can do is block Renton's initial attacks, the worry of the shield adding a unfair advantage is initially washed away. Renton aims square on cutting Naofumi's legs out from under him. Naofumi tries to block, but Renton actually starts liking The Shield Hero's weapon forced upon him. Renton uses it several times as a platform to hit a shining wizard and other kicks and knee strikes.
Raphtalia sees the plight of her sensei and tags herself in. My default, Renton must be replaced by Eureka. The coralian has had just a few in ring matches, on near equal footing with the rookie Raphtalia. But what both lack in wrestling experience, they make up for by showing just how much passion they got. Raphtalia & Eureka engage in a even see-saw battle of nearly endless strikes. After the men's defensive tactics, the flurry of offense seems to be lightning quick. A springboard moonsault from Eureka is forgotten about less than minute later by a handspring cutter from Raphtalia! The Katana Hero hits a discus elbow, Eureka soars through the air with a rebounding corkscrew senton! The Palestra becomes unglued by the maddening speeds the two are throwing each other into.
Unfortunately, if flashy moves are not achieving any effect, then the massive amounts of stamina needed are eroded in vain. A hung-up foot on the ropes ultimately undoes all of Eureka's momentum. Raphtalia is unable to reach her for a would be suplex; Renton tags himself back into the fight. The match is on a temperamental switch from here on out. Naofumi tries to block and absorb all of Renton's cuts and jabs, one of the women tag in to take up the fight in a explosive but brief fight til Renton feels Eureka's had enough. Everything comes to a head when Raphtalia manages to get her set up for some form of a superplex as Renton tags Eureka's boot just before Raphtalia falls away to the canvas. Raphtalia can't pin the obviously battered Eureka as Renton is technically now the legal opponent. Naofumi & Raphtalia have both grown exhausted by both the match and Renton stretching the limits of the match to their near breaking point.
All four brawl in the awaited meltdown of the match, the crowd firmly wishing to see Renton get his bullheadedness knocked out of him by the blunt instrument that is Naofumi's shield. Eureka seems to disappear for a moment, Renton points his finger and accuses Naofumi of something. Whatever it was we'll never know as Naofumi draps Renton over his shoulders….Raphtalia Jumping From The Top To Execute A Diving Headscissors Kick To Renton! But what the Shield & Katana Hero forgot was Eureka, who jumped and rolled up Raphtalia from behind! Its nothing fancy, but this small package roll up get the Nirvash Pilots the win!
Adam Price vs. Bolin – Special Singles Match
Adam Price wanted nothing more than to be Heart & Soul's number one star. But unwilling to have patience and gradually build the ladder to the top, he opted instead to back a quick and sudden declaration. At The Show Must Go On, he brought the remains of Northern Carnage Wrestling to the ground in a attack that some saw the equivalent of dancing on someone's grave. Jumping Crash Bandicoot & Chris House, the makers of that company's greatest rivalry, had infuriated not just the wrestling fandom but much of the locker room that night. Bolin was by far the most outspoken of anyone in counter to Adam's assault. The former pro bender turned former mover start turned pro wrestler had been one of NCW's most popular athletes. He always knew how to win over the hearts of everyone in the stands and was the first one who would back up their sentiments. No words of reasoning were going to change Adam's actions or his thoughts, only seeing another opportunity. If he could silence Bolin in the main event of Heart & Soul's debut show, the company would have no choice but to promote him as the sole top start. The match was set and here we are in Philadelphia to settle the score.
Bolin walks into The Palestra with the usual fanfare of everyone chanting along to "Walk" by Pantera. Adam looks completely out of place in a sea of thumb-pumping Phillies. Bolin is having the night of his life, having turned the Palestra into one giant party. The early moments are just for him to relish in the fans admiration for him, getting one major pop just for shoving Adam back a bit with the collar-elbow tie up. Adam soon grows frustrated, rolling out of the ring after being suplexed. He paces on the outside, trying to cover his hears to block out the crowd that he had promised himself would not get into his head…but they are. Bolin tries to be a fair man and backs up to the furthest side of the ring to give Adam enough space to restart. The two have a test of strength trying to see who can get the other yanked clear off the mat once more, this time its Bolin who ends up on the outside. Adam seemingly returns the kind gesture from earlier by bending open the ropes for Bolin to enter….PSCYHE, as Adam lets the ropes loose to smack Bolin's inner thigh, stunning him long enough to lay him flat with a one-handed bulldog.
Adam's goal is to keep The Whole Damn Deal grounded, brining him down with swinging neckbreakers & legsweeps. One down, Adam tries to put pressure on the lower back and legs with an assortment of stretches that start resembling boston crabs. Undeterred, Bolin does have to dig to deep into his heart to find the strength to power out. Adam is soon second guessing himself when he's stuck on top of his adversary's shoulders, planted into the mat with a rolling fireman's carry! His ribs are crushed soon after by a middle rope moonsault. After a brief delay, the Bolin show is back in business. Adam seems to go a full minute without being allowed to his feet. Bolin keeps him flattened with running knees and baseball slides, building up to the Rolling Thunder!
Adam knows its time to get out of dodge, rolling to the outside while Bolin was pre-occupied perching back up on the turnbuckle….and Adam Manages To Catch The Flying Pro-Bender Who Was Trying A Senton To The Outside…Ditching Him With A Spinning Side Slam On The Blunt Rim Of The Barricade! The agony contracting Bolin's facial muscles make the pain all the more relatable. Adam has no qualms ending it here, letting the referee count Bolin out to the ire of the crowd. But Adam's strategy was marred by the fact that Heart & Soul used the Japanese 20 count instead of the American 10. Bolin was far from tip-top shape, but persevered to stagger back into the squared circle and continue the good fight. The bulls-eye had been set, however, square upon his lower back. Adam soon dropped him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. He goes so far to begin smashing his interwoven fists down like a axe-hammer upon Bolin's spine, just to pour salt in the wounds.
Bolin lacked much of the strength to prevent Adam from carrying him into position for Pay The Price (Over The Shoulder Piledriver). But Adam seems to have gotten caught upon something….more like Bolin hooking his foot around the top rope near the corner had been in. Adam tries to tug him free, now both feet are hooked. Adam has no choice but to abort, Bolin slides down the ropes to the apron. Adam tries to end the match again, hoping to suplex Bolin back into the ring…

But The Suplex Is Countered By Bolin, Hitting Adam With A Head Splitting Brainbuster Dropping The Skull Of Adam Square On The Canvas' Edge!
The crowd were in shock and awe, both combatants were gravely depleted. Adam obviously is suffering some dreadful headache, Bolin is struggling to stand straight with how battered his spinal cord has become. He toils with his strains just to push Adam back into the ring, and has another battle to scale the turnbuckles. Its purely through the support of Philadelphia that he perseveres to the top…

Bolin tries for a spinning heel kick instead, but Adam manages to duck and run. Both men collide in a nasty wreck of dual clotheslines, the crowd unsure who's going to get up first. Chanting rallies Bolin slowly to up on his knees…

It seems there will be nothing that can wash the ill will between Pennsylvanians and Adam after what he did at The Show Must Go On. They would never accept Adam Price as their chosen one. They were not going to let Adam relish his victory, booing endlessly to try and force the show to close. But Adam was done listening to the crowd, having been handed a microphone to speak his mind.
"….There….There It Is, Right In Front Of Me, The Problem With Professional Wrestling Today! "You Say You Want Strong Style!?...Then You Don't Want Strong Style!" Another stomp to poor Bolin's chest. "You Want Hardcore Wrestling?...Then You Don't Want Hardcore Wrestling!" Bolin tries to cover up but to no avail. "You Want Entertainment….Then You Don't Want Entertainment….ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED, YET!?" Adam lets loose on several more stomps into Bolin's ribcage, the fatigued pro bender at last starts to roll slowly out of the ring.
"Welcome To Heart & Soul Wrestling, This Is Not Your Company! This….This Is My Company! The Standard For Wrestling Is Me! I Am The Top Bill, Now! Your Paying To See Me! Your Not Paying To See Your Mirror Image, Your Coming To See The Top Bill! The Only Way Anyone Is Going To Change That Is By Beating Me! Which None Of You Mindless Sheep Could Ever Do!" Adam's rage just kept peaking higher and higher as the crowd continued to boo and throw insults his way. "Now is that how your going to send off my company's first show?! A bunch of disrespectful sheep! If there's one thing I resolve to fix before I leave this world, is to teach some respect. You don't have to love me, you just got to respect The Top Bill! I will not leave until I get a 'thank you'…Mark My Words To Whomever Is In The Back, I Will Not Leave This Ring Until I Get A Thank You!" Adam demanded, the crowd still venting.
