Hardcore Tavern
Johnstown, PA
The first year of operations was nearing a close this September night in the Hardcore Tavern. This was never meant to be a jam-packed first outing. Rather, a quartet of Pay-Per-Views were to lay the ground work. Heart & Soul's aim was to grow and ease an audience into the their flavor of fictional wrestling, leaving hopes high for the promotion to be in full operations the next year. Now its been addressed a million times that certain real world events threw a wrench into those plans. Heart & Soul's audience was fragmented into a million factions clashing over their personal grievances on how the promotion had responded to a plethora of outside pressures. I Want It All was moved outdoors leading to a terrifying riot on the night the promotion's first champion was crowned. Breakthru was downsized to a hand-selected crowd of a 100 inside the cramp Hardcore Tavern.
Things felt dire & tense when CyberDuoSlamoDos hits the bandwidth. That hand-selected crowd was noticeably absent from the Tavern. It was just the black & purple ring, the stage with its simplistic entry portal and needed ringside personnel. Was this a omen of what the supposed marquee event of the year was going to be? Either way, the tension in the air did help hammer in the importance of the upcoming pay-per-view. Tonight, the card for Innuendo would take most of its final form.
CyberAides vs. 27 Club – Gautier CyberMeds Pre-Show
A brief warm up match to test the connection of the livestream. The 27 Club have made cameos before in Heart & Soul, being two-thirds of a stable from the tiny UK affiliate Rhapsody Wrestling. Aiden Nicks & Eddie Cafferty came in with some wanna-be rock star flair. They ran into a brick wall in the form of two faceless cyberaides. Yeah, this was already rigged to make the robots look good on behalf of Heart & Soul's leading sponsor, Gautier CyberMeds. Their soon to be artificial rescuers/nurses get the quick victory after a devastating powerbomb to Eddie Cafferty.
Johnny Alvarez vs. Bill The Butcher Cunning – Pick Your Poison Match
The show kicks off officially with the first of two Pick Your Poison Matches bookending the card. The challenger for Adam's Heart Championship stepped out to the ring with confidence boosting him. He'd knocked any doubts in the viewer's mind (though he wouldn't admit it, some doubts in himself as well) when he came out on top over Chris House in a vicious 2 Out Of 3 Falls No DQ bout on pay-per-view. The Champion would not admit any thoughts he had on his first challenger. Yet, it was clear enough he saw Johnny as a valid threat. Johnny may have survived Chris, but was he prepared for a wildcard?
A instrumental variant of "Signal To Noise" by Peter Gabriel announced the Spoiled Fighter's mystery opponent. Its was none other than Bill The Butcher, making his Heart & Soul debut. The Butcher has yet to be a mainstay of the FWM-scene, but a brief run in 2017 NCW has struck fear in the hearts of that locker room. Bill was not known for his in ring skills but rather helping to turn Christopher House from a brawler to a deathmatch specialist. That's how Chris managed to obliterate Johnny's skull in Glasgow in a Taipei Deathmatch. Johnny had gotten his revenge at Breakthru, but could he survive the rough cuts from The Butcher?
It began with some feeling-out shoves, before full on tie ups. Both men were trying to hiptoss the other to the limits of the ring. Its Johnny that succeeds, but doesn't get to stay on top for long. Bill manages to swerve a lariat, chop blocking the Spoiled Fighter down at the ankle. Some clubbing blows melted Johnny into Bill's clutches, but not enough to give him free will for a german suplex he wished to execute. Johnny switched out and whipped Bill fiercely into one of the corners. But a attempt at a body splash was blunted midway through his launch by a discus elbow from The Butcher.
The speed was kicked down a peg as Bill focused on punishing Johnny over seeking the quickest route of success. Bill LOVES his headlock, which would have gotten boos if there was a crowd. But in all fairness, he spiced it up by starting to spike his knee into the back of Johnny's calves. Johnny would keep finding ways to break free but only briefly. Bill's strengths was tenderizing the muscles with stretches, then making lethal jabs with his fists. His attempt at trying to rebound off the turnbuckle to chop down on an arm is thwarted, Johnny lunging forward to yank Bill into a lariat.
Johnny & Bill both began to jock from rope to rope, trying to push their opponent down to the mat out of sheer forearm power. Bill seems to have the upper hand by a harsh Irish whip, only for Johnny to rebound and hitting a painful chop. Bill is stunned, and is dropping to the canvas by a Flying Clothesline leading to an attempted pinfall. Upon the kick out, Bill tries powering over on top for a armbar. Johnny manages to fight free before any permanent damage could be hit. Her keeps Bill at bay with a shoot kick that echoes throughout the empty Tavern, hoping to set up with a running bicycle kick. Bill has enough where-with-all to duck the kick and dump Johnny to the hardwood floor.
Bill takes pleasure in bruising up Johnny outside. There's no barricades, no chairs, no crowd to break Johnny's momentum from smacking up against the brick wall of the Tavern. With the referee's count clear Bill's ear, he wisely times it out to wash Johnny's face back and forth across the bricks. When the match slides back into the squared circle, Bill puts Johnny down and out with a snap full-nelson suplex. Johnny's body instinctively sits up precisely after impact….but drops lifelessly back down to the canvas. Its all seems over, The Butcher smirks and covers…

But The Spoiled Fighter Catches A Second Wind In The Nick Of Time!
The Butcher starts to verbally shout profanities & slurs while he slowly pulls Johnny back to his feet. Both hands clasp around Johnny's head, slowly squeezing in on each side of the Spoiled Fighter's skull like a vice. But one particular insult is just one too many to bare, evaporating the agony and letting all his weight sandbag to the canvas. Bill's jaw drops sharply upon Johnny's knee as he plummeted suddenly into the kneel. He tries to continually throw Bill into the ropes for a powerful Exploder Suplex but is stunted at each turn. Johnny finally manages to catch Bill in a bear hug, trying for a submission. Bill isn't quiting, seeing the ropes are near and reaching out. Johnny isn't going to let it end with a rope break, shifting Bill from the bear hug to being drape from a shoulder before piledriving him into the center of the ring with the Knockout Package (Package Piledriver) for the victory!
Christopher House: Measuring Stick Of Carnage
"Fans at home, I was told to get our here in a hurry for 'something monumental'….I don't know if I should be excited or fearing for my life but….ladies & gentleman, Christopher House." Ai Tananbe announces, standing to one corner.
The ominous turnover of a motorcycle's ignition precedes the sick electric licks. "Death Rider" starts in earnest as Christopher House's body yaws out on stage. He stomps chaotically across the short stage and into the squared circle. His hands are kept from splaying out for any powerful pose, however, as a brown paper bag of considerable size is tucked under one of his arms. Ai is noticeably curling up in a metaphorical shell, unsure what this mad man might do. Chris sort of pauses still out of his spastic stomping around, motioning Ai over and noticeably quipping "Come on, I don't bite"
"Chris, you called me out here for you first appearance after being defeated by Johnny Alvarez at Breakthru."
"Hey, I may have lost that war…But I did keep my foothold here." Chris reminds Ai, as well as the audience at home.
"That's right, you did manage to get the one fall that secured your spot on our roster." Ai states, "But Johnny will be fighting Adam Price for the Heart Of Wrestling Championship, not you. I know you've made a campaign of terror through Heart & Soul this past year for the sole mission of fighting the champion. Where do you go from here?"
"…You think I'm giving up?" Chris asks wide-eyed, uneasing Ai.
"Well…I don't know, what's your next course of attack to get back at the championship?" Ai asks.
Chris's response was merely a smirk and held back scoff.
"Ai….if Ric Flair chops down a tree in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, does the forest still whoo?" Chris questions out of nowhere.
"Uuuuh…" Ai trails off, unsure how to answer...Chris mouths the answer he wants. "No?"
"CORRECT! Which is why I need you out here tonight. I need a third party to confirm to the world that there is another."
"Another?...is that what's with the bag?" Ai asks, Chris was in the process of taking it out from under his arm. The bagged item is stretched between both his palms.
"Verry good Miss Tanabe." Chris says with enthusiasm that borders on sarcasm. "While Johnny is gonna scrap with Adam over the championship of this company, I will be walking into Innuendo already a champion. The true measuring stick of the carnage one can produce in a ring. You see, what I have in my hands is something Johnny & Adam will NEVER, EVER had a chance to hold."
Chris viciously tears the brown crumpled up paper away, like opening a present on Christmas morning. Bits and bits are thrown up in the air before softly forming a pile at his feet…

Revealing The Old "Man Hole" Variant Of The NCW World Heavyweight Championship! With The Only Altercation Being A Large Strip Of Ducktape Over The Defunct Promotion's Logo & Upper Band That Read: World, Now Reading "CARNAGE" In Scratchy Sharpie. Just Above The Champion Bracket, And Partially Obscuring The Blue "Wrestling" Etched Into The Zinc, Another Strip Of Tape Reads "Chris House".
"This right here is THE Championship synonymous with sheer guts, sheer will, sheer grit. Everyone who held it had to spill buckets in order to obtain it, and nobody lost more ounces of crimson over it than I. I lost so much flesh chasing & defending it that it's a part of me. I am, therefore, forever the Carnage Champion Of This F***ing Ring!" Chris proclaims, lifting the battered leather strap with one hand to look high & mighty.
"…that's great…but Chris….its….its a defunct belt." Ai stutters, not wishing to upset the Psychotic Bastard while he fumbles with the buckles on the end of the strap.
"huh?" Chris hums off mic.
"Do you believe Heart & Soul is going to recognize a third world title?" Ai pressed the matter.
"No, of course not. Because this isn't a world championship. This is a championship for the toughest Son Of A B*** in the sport. That coward Price doesn't even come close." Chris argues. "But that's just part one. That's Just Part One Of What I Got To Say. For ever champion needs its challengers. And I'm taking on ALL comers, Ai. No limits. No laws! I'm inviting anyone who thinks they can generate more carnage than I to gather in the ring when Innuendo hits the airwaves. We'll call it….Chris's Complimentary Carnage Championship Chaos!"
"…CCCCC?" Ai asks dumbfounded.
"…What, I can do alliteration, I'm a poet. I make poetry with words and I make poetry with flesh." Chris quips, cracking a uneasy grin. "To whomever shows up to fight me in my zone…nah, can't even wish you luck. You'll never have it against me."
Fallen Angels vs. Gospel Of Wealth – Duo Of Souls Championship Tournament Quarter Finals
"The Gerdleman dream of instant gratification was a seductive one. I wanted it to work so badly…but I slipped up each passing time….and my slip ups led to this…this team thing…never working out. Chasing that simple fantasy just…it just never worked out for Gerdleman…We Are Fallen Angels, And Tonight Shayne Daniels And Myself, Ivory Atkinson, Will Take Our First Steps In Blazing A New Trail. One That Won't Be Mere Wish Fulfillment! We're Not Waiting For The Dream To Come To Us, We're Flying Toward It!"
The words of a emotionally charged Ivory set the tempo for the multi-layered importance of this next match. Not only was it the first in a tournament to crown Heart & Soul's first Souls Tag Team Championship, but it could also become the stage of a redemption story. The unlikely team of Seductive Dream was no-more. Instead came out a unified body dressed in matching black & purple jackets, each with a lone white wing sewn on to one side. No more was there the familiar tune once used as Bad Influence in TNA, this team had their own anthem in the form of "Edge Of The Blade" by Journey. Ivory Gerdelman left her old self behind, as it was Ivory Atkinson who hopped into the ring first; trailed by Shayne Daniels. They had found a new sense of purpose. Now came the hard part; their first test.
Thought the Fallen Angels were in fact their senior, the new duo of millionaires-through-inheritance of Nora Mellon & Lauren Pitcairn were proving to be spoilers. They (and when I say I primarily mean Lauren) were willing to stretch every rule as far as they could. Rope Breaks extended nearly to 5, trapping Ivory in the Gospel of Wealth's corner for a succession of tags, capitalizing on distractions by facewashing Shayne against the edge of the apron. You could just imagine the devastation of the home audience when they watched Ivory be bulldozed from behind at the last second before she got the chance for a tag. Ivory rebounded though by managing to kick out in a very near pin fall attempt.
Where the Fallen Angels had the tenacity to hold on through the worst, there was a noticeable unbalance growing between the Gospel of Wealth. Lauren would go full ham on nasty, insulting attacks while the more quiet Nora was trying to keep it dry & clean. Nora lacked aggression, setting her up to be the victim of a spinning roundhouse kick to her gut. Ivory rebounded off the ropes, through her body back in a hail mary to turn the tables. Ivory gets the opportunity to crawl to Shayne, tagging her in just before Lauren could rush over and try and illegally steamroll Ivory from behind. Shayne & Nora spar, but Shayne's momentum never ceases to increase. Nora becomes the victim of a Last Rites (Rolling Cuter), but Lauren dives in to make the safe! Shayne…throws the fatigued Nora into the GOW's own corner. Lauren is surprised, but quickly tags herself in. She cackles at what seems to be a obvious mistake on Shayne's part…

But Its Clear Lauren Walked Into Her Own Little Ambush As Ivory Slingshots Into View, Over The Shoulder Of The Cameraman, And Plants The Heiress Of The Rails With The Double Knee Facebreaker! Shayne picks up the pieces with another Last Rites shortly after for the win! The Fallen Angels nudge their way a little closer to the Soul Of Wrestling Tag Team Championship!
The 'Judas' Avatar Speaks
Wherever Korra was, it wasn't Johnstown. It wasn't anywhere where Heart & Soul seemed to have any reach. She was being filmed in a chilling black & white, a unusual 1.19:1 ratio scrunched the screen. She was leaning back against a large gilded post of some building we cannot make out at this time. Hands were in the pockets of what appeared to be a leather jacket she wore over her more traditional water tribe attire.
"I've been asked why I did what I did to Pyrrha….everywhere I go, someone comes up, clutching their peals and asking all offended 'How Could You?'…I've been approached by countless news outlets wanting the inside scoop….They want some sad, tragic, MORBID tale that takes up the front pages that nobody can turn away from reading…." Korra regaled the unseen camera person on, before she scoffed & smirked. "Why would I give the very people who backstabbed me such the satisfaction? Huh! Why Would I Reward Them For Turning On Me For No Good Reason!? Huh!...I miss the days when getting the job done was valued over making the job look pretty."
"Pyrrha, I kept you from that lucrative #21 spot at Headlong because I was trying to protect you. The same thing at I Want It All, I was protecting you. You are simply not ready to take on the burden that I once did daily. And last month, I had to stop you. I had to be the authority and cross a line between right & wrong. You WRONGFULLY accused Selena Richardson, it was not fair that you got away with it too. I had to equal it all out, that's my job, Pyrrha. A job you've yet to prove to me that your capable of fulfilling." Korra makes clear of her possibly twisted sense of justice.
"But I'm a fair person, Pyrrha. I'm going to give you a chance to prove yourself as the 'Invincible Girl'. I've been longing for that for years, and it's going to finally come just a little over a month from now. And it'll happen here…" Korra declares, walking away from that post she'd been resting her shoulders against. The camera is following Korra away from this building that comes more and more into view. A magnificent gilded structure of spirals and a central dome, sitting out in a tranquil bay of some glowing city in the background.
"Here at the Pro-Bending Arena, in MY temple. You'll have to go through ME to truly call yourself the 'Invincible Girl'. You & Me, Heart & Soul's Innuendo, Republic City, See You On November 7th !"
Vash The Stampede, Bow & Glimmer vs. Renton Thurston, Atticus Brown & Isla Woods- Whoever Scores Pinfall Picks A Match Of Their Choosing At Innuendo
Throughout the three previous shows there has been a growing conflict centered around Renton Thurston's ego. A ego that was still shattered over one simple loss back at the start of the Heart of Wrestling Tournament. What should have been a moment of reflection and self-improvement instead dragged several other parties into exchanging blows with one another. Renton had gotten the allegiance of Atticus Brown & Isla Woods, two upstarts hungry to break into the businesses as soon as possible. If being extra hands in attacking Bow & Glimmer was what it took, they had no gripes about it. Vash the Stampede tried to be the voice of reason, but Renton's refusal to take the high road secured the trios intergender tag we get on this card. To top it all off, management had added a neat little stipulation. Whoever got the pinfall would get to chose anyone on the Heart & Soul roster to face at Innuendo.
The match was marred by the fact it was consisting of two couples being led by leaders they are not familiar with. But while Atticus & Isla's close familiarity led to early quick work of Glimmer from the contest, they lacked good leadership from Renton. As the match progressed, it was clear Renton was purely focused on trying to wipe out Bow with as many double or triple moves the self proclaimed Best Mecha Pilot could conjure up. He was too worried using his new found tools of villainy in the form of the hipster couple for endless destruction rather than achieving quick victory.
Vash managed to start getting Bow & Glimmer back together. All three started working under the same pretense;…don't let their attacks connect. So it wasn't the most flashy strategy. But it was a expected one of the Humanoid Typhoon. It appeared to be sheer cowardice that had infected his partners. But seeing a slightly fatigued Renton blindly chase after Bow, being fed into a Angel Arm from Vash, made all the running rationalized. Atticus saved the match for his threesome, eventually dragging a almost unconscious Renton (reeling from the kick) back to his own corner to make a forced tag. Atticus & Bow (still legal) took to a fierce sparring of kicks and punches, Atticus getting the upper hand. Vash managed to make the tag, however, and successfully finished off the match with the Long Colt, Bow & Glimmer both aiding in doing the lifting portion of the finish.
As the faces celebrated, Renton leaned on Eureka's shoulder and tried to be sneaky getting to the back. Isla pulled her vinyl-admiring boyfriend out of the ring. The seeming split between the two heel couples didn't go unnoticed by Vash, who took to a microphone:
"Whoa-whoa-whoa, wait, Renton…where are you going? You're….You're going to miss the big announcement. You see…I can barely tolerate watching you spiral down this route of self-divulgence, just barely can. But what I will NOT tolerate is you leaving others high and dry. That's just…that's just not cool, man…So, for this heinous crime of being a sore loser, you shall be getting a one on one tutoring session on how to be a peaceful & loving living thing, man. I'll be seeing YOU in my match at Innuendo."
Team FCKU vs. Gunsmith Cats- Duo Of Souls Championship Tournament Quarter Finals
The second of two tournament matches was next to take place on this quiet September night in the Hardcore Tavern. It also featured the tag team debut of Riley Vincent and Minnie May Hopkins in a Heart & Soul ring. They brought a sort of moxie-fire to the otherwise silent venue. They had known in-ring work from other reaches of the Fiction Wrestling Multiverse, but this would be a particularly important match with title implications hanging overhead. There opponents were looking to start a winning streak going, they were already 1-0 in the still infant promotion. Team FCKU, Karen Cashew in particular, made it clear they were not taking the gunsmiths serious.
Karen's arrogance oozed out even in her walk, instantly grating Rally mentally. Karen was quick to break from her slow, seductive strut into a quick chop across Rally's collarbone. Karen mockingly 'yawned' while in the process of grabbing a hold of Rally's head. She would be given reason to yawn for real when Rally fired back with a palm strike ALMOST fist…almost. Karen fires with another chop, no delay this time around. Rally fires back by chopping BOTH her hands against the Grimm Queen's collarbone. The see-saw tempo of the match had been set; the Gunsmith Cats persevered continually against Karen Cashew's continued efforts of getting under their skin.
Minnie May & Ulema Brown had a far more cleaner showing. Both would seem to constantly find ways to out pace the other, flying back at each other with springboard variants of assaults. Minnie May managed to use Ulema's momentum to throw her off from a running lariat down to the mat with a hip toss. On the rebound, however, she got whacked in the skull with a tough Gamengiri kick from the Timestopper! Minnie May managed to muster enough strength to kick out. Karen & Ulema were quick to exchange places, allowing the Grimm Queen to start pulling the decision of the match slowly in her team's favor with a prolonged lock up in a full nelson. She was trying for a full-nelson suplex, but Minnie May managed to kick a foot off the corner pad, dropping back on top for a surprising pin. Karen unsurprisingly kicks out shortly after 2.
The Gunsmith Cats started edging up the risks they took. Higher risk lead to bigger payoff. Possibly spurred on by Karen continually trying to agitate Rally til she finally would break. She managed to catch Karen's go at the Beauty Shot (Spinning Heel Kick), but the Grimm Queen played….(*inhales* - miiiind gaaaames) by seductively rubbing her hand down the length of her caught arm…whomever she was trying to seduce, we don't know, with nobody in the venue but her opponents. Rally's eye roll to the all think because a eye jab, that hand of Karen's shooting up and thumbing the bounty hunter. Rally spat back by hurdling Karen with a fierce irish whip, but being partially blinded by the eye jab misled the Grimm Queen right into the safety of her own corner. Ulema tagged in, Rally hadn't seen. She barreled forward for a running high knee that charged into a swinging kick from the Timestopper. Ulema swung her way into the ring, rebounding and taking Rally down with the Temporal Freeze (Knee Strike From Middle Rope) for the win!
Adam Price vs. Alex Minazuki – Pick Your Poison Match
The other side of the coin of this 'pick your poison' saga took center stage in the main event. Adam Price entered his squared circle with a sense he was going through the motions. Not in a negative sense, but rather being so self-assured that the gilded championship around his waist makes him untouchable in a non-title scenario. It doesn't matter who Johnny chose as his opponent, he will defeat them with ease. Adam backs into his corner and prepares for battle. His challenge…

Alex Minazuki? Yes, Johnny seemingly had been impressed with the effort the Phenomenal Cure had put into their match at Headlong. So much so he thought he could give the Top Bill a run for his money. Adam remained apathetic, however. At the sound of the bell, the two sized up in the center of the ring. Adam mouthed off:
"Really? You Know Where You're At? You're In The Top Bill! Spot-Fest Pre-Show Was And Hour And Half Ago!"
Alex manages to silence Adam by feinting a superkick, putting the Top Bill in a fearful state he hopes is wiped from every database. Realizing it's a feint, he smirks and tries shoving Alex back, only this time to eat a high knee with real power. Alex spends the early moments of the match running circles around the Heart of Wrestling Champion. He throws every kick and knee that he can think of to put dent in Adam's armor. But it wasn't just speed, as the lighter Minazuki proved he had plenty of tenacity to take the Top Bill of his feet with a Rolling Release Suplex!
Adam allowed the momentum of the impact to let himself spill out to the hardwood floor. He was bewildered seeing Alex standing tall and alone in the ring, even waving him back in to try and throw him off his feet. But Alex's flaw may have been not continuing his assault, as Adam cunningly feinted entering the ring. Alex met him at the ropes, but found himself gazing up at the ceiling from being tripped up. Adam bashes Alex's ankles off the ring post before getting back in to stave off a count out. The tempo had been set, Adam continually targeted Alex's legs. While Alex would continually show off great athleticism in his speed & agility, he would noticeably grow weaker and weaker as the Top Bill continually tied him up into leg locks.
Alex managed near the end of the contest to get the rope break while being tied up in a old fashioned figure four leg lock. There was great determination in the heart of the Cure Phenomenal, but his body was just too worn out on this day by the champion. Adam managed to keep Alex from soaring off the top rope, rushing and chopping his ankle out from under him. Adam grappled him away from the ropes, to the center of the ring, dropping Alex skull first with Pay The Price (Over The Shoulder Piledriver) for the victory.
Though the dust had settled and the decision final, Adam was far from satisfied. That flair of aggression we saw nearly a year back at the NCW tribute show rears its ugly head again. Alex is whisked out of his defeated state and knocked unconscious by a Paycheck (Snap Double Underhook DDT). The Top Bill literally wipes his hands clean of the Phenomenal Cure, as well as insultingly 'cleaning' his wrestling boots off the back Durham's Number One. But those taunting scrapes turn into furious stomps as Adam wishes to pulverize Alex as a example of what he will do at Innuendo.
Out came The Spoiled Fighter to the rescue. The moment Adam could see Johnny racing out onto the stage, he bailed like a coward from the scene of his crime. But left in his haste to get out of his challenger's grasp was the very championship they'd be fighting over at Heart & Soul's grandest showcase of year one. After a quick check in to ensure Alex was not too badly hurt, Johnny's eyes narrowed and turned toward Adam whose staggering on the outside. Johnny doesn't waste this moment to get a cool quick grab shot of him holding up the belt he hopes to officially own. He then, rather respectfully, rests its on the canvas in the center of the ring. He takes extra care to make sure the leather strap props up the center plate. He makes a final motion of the shape of a championship around his waist, infuriating the Top Bill, as the show ends with a quick run through of the scheduled card for this blockbuster year end event:
