Chapter 30: Back to Slugterra

At CHS, we see the portal to Equestria glowing faintly but this time instead of escaping up through the cracks we see magic move towards the ground and deep under.

In Slugterra we find Eli and his Shange gang were entering an unknown cavern with blasters at the ready.

"Are you sure about this Kord?" Eli asks.

"I'm sure of it. From what they said the Dark Clan originated in this cavern. We shut down the process we can stop their numbers." Kord said.

"Thank goodness, if you ask me, I've had more than my fair share of those things." Pronto said.

"We shut this down Luke can come home soon." Trixie smiles at the thought of seeing her son again.

"Assuming he can leave his girlfriends." Kord teases.

Entering a large opening they see a dark water geyser.

"There it is." Eli said.

"Wait I smell something." Pronto said getting their attention.

"What is it?" Eli asks.

"Something's not right. It smells different and familiar at the same time." Pronto said

"I think your nose is getting old Pronto." Kord said when they heard the sound of wings flapping.

Suddenly a blast of magic shot at them forcing them to scatter.

"What in the?!" Looking up they saw an Equestrian Dark Clan fly in.

"Is that a dark clan?!" Trixe gasps taking out her camera.

"What happened to it?!" Pronto panics.

"Ask questions later! Slug time!" Eli said loading his blaster.

Shrieking at them, the Equestrian Dark Clan went on the attack.

Loading their blasters, a Tormato, Armashelt, and Hop Rock shot out.

Flying through the cave, the Equestrian Dark Clan member retaliated firing blasts of magic forcing them to dodge.

"This is like when we visited Luke at that school event!" Eli realized.

"But then how did that stuff get all the way down here?!" Pronto asks.

"We need to regroup!" Eli said as they tried to make their escape when suddenly more Equestrian Dark Clan members flew in.

Shrieking at Eli it attacked making Eli pull on his mecha and the sharp turn made him fall off and hit the ground.

As a result the shadow talker in his bag fell out and rolled out of the cavern.

While Kord and Pronto struggled to keep them at bay, Trixie was doing something with her camera.

Picking himself up, Eli hears a laughter.

"Pretty cool find huh Eli?" A male voice calls out. "They're 10 times stronger than normal dark clan members and the best part is they don't think for themselves and they attack anything that stands in there way."

Turning around Eli saw the shadow of an adult man standing behind him.

"You." Eli said in horror as more Equestrian Dark Clan members went on the attack.

"I hope you get this." Trixie said sending something from her camera before they all fired magic from their horns setting off a series of explosions.

When the smoke cleared Eli, Trixie, Kord and Pronto were on the ground barely conscious.

Groaning Eli looks to see a human figure walk up to him and grin evilly.

"Long time no see Eli." He smirks before everything went black.

Up on the surface, Luke was sitting with the Rainbooms in the food court.

"So Starlight and I had been dating for a while but when my dad gave me the mission to come up here I couldn't bring her with me." Luke explains.

"I'm guessing because Slugterra can't know about the surface?" Twilight assumes.

"Bingo." Luke nods.

"So you dumped her?" Sonata asks.

"No I didn't dump her. We agreed that because we both had different priorities, we had to stop dating." Luke said.

"And then soon after you met us?" Sunset asks.

"Technically I was single so I didn't technically do anything wrong." Luke points out.

"He's got you there Sunset." Spike points out.

"Sorry I guess sometimes we forget you had a life before you came here." Sunset said.

"I bet you had tons of wild and crazy adventures back home." Applejack assumes.

"They definitely were wild. I had quite a few friends back home. I think you'd like them." Luke said.

"Let me tell you we need some excitement. After that whole mess with Juniper Montage things have been quiet since Starlight went back to Equestria." Rainbow said.

"I just can't believe Equestria had its own Starlight. I wonder if anyone else from Equestria might be down there. Maybe there's a version of me in Equestria." Luke said.

"Nah I'm pretty sure if there was a you in Equestria Sunset would keep him all to herself." Pinkie giggles making her blush.

"W-What?" Sunset said.

"You are the most attached to Luke out of all of us." Sonata teases.

"No I'm not." Sunset said as they all laughed at her reaction.

"Well now that Camp Everfree is saved and we're on break I say we use this time to have some fun of our own." Twilight suggests.

"I like the sound of that." Rarity smiles.

"I don't see why not. You mind if I go out Burpy?" Luke asks as Burpy playfully nudges him.

Suddenly his phone began to rang. Looking at it he saw it from his grandpa Will.

"Hey Grandpa what's up?" Luke answers.

"Luke get back to the house quick! There's trouble in Slugterra and your parents are in danger!" Will said.

"What?!" Luke panics standing up getting their attention.=.

"Hurry home we got to get you ready to go back!" Will said.

"Alright I'm on it." Luke said hanging up. "Sorry girls but I have to cancel all our plans."

"What's wrong?" Applejack asks.

"For how long?" Rarity asks.

"For the foreseeable future. I have to leave now. I'm sorry." Luke said running out.

"What was that?" Twilight asks confused.

"I don't know but I'm not letting him getaway with an answer like that." Sunset said as they ran after him.

At Luke's house, the Rainbooms arrive to see Will and April as nervous as Luke.

"Alright I'll have to get your mechabeast all set up." Will said.

"Guys everyone here?" Luke calls out as all his slugs leaped into his belt and backpack.

"Oh no I can't believe this is happening again." April said nervously.

"Uhm excuse me." Fluttershy calls out but they didn't hear her. "Excuse me?"

Putting a finger to her lips, Applejack whistles loudly getting their attention.

"Will someone tell us why you guys are running around like barn rats in a housefire?" Applejack asks.

"Yeah what the heck Luke? What's going on?" Rainbow asks.

"There's an Emergency in Slugterra." My parents are in danger." Luke said making them gasp.

"Wait what?" Sunset asks as Will shows them something on his email.

Opening it we see footage of Trixie.

"Luke, if you're seeing this something is going up with the Dark Clan we thought we had shut them down but some new ones came back! Slugterra is in danger and we need you!" Trixie panics as the Equestrian Dark Clan screeched coming into the shot.

"Oh no, not that." Luke cringed in horror.

"What happened to it? Dark Clan don't have wings or horns." Will said.

"That's because it's Equestrian Magic." Twilight said.

"Whoa, whoa whoa, you mean magic from Equestria is leaking into Luke's world now too?" Spike asks.

"I'm afraid so and with my parents in trouble and Grandpa long retired I'm the only Shane that can help. Slugterra must always have a Shane ready to help." Luke frowns.

"But how long will you be done there?" Rarity asks.

"I don't know. Until the problem is solved. I've faced the Equestrian Dark Clan so I know what we're up against, but I'm only one Shane. It might take months." Luke said.

"Wait…no you're not." Sunset realized. "We've faced it with you and we can easily catch Twilight and Sonata up on this. Bring us to Slugterra with you." Sunset declares surprising him.

"What?" Luke asks.

"Yeah let us see Slugterra." Rainbow grins liking that.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm sorry but no way ladies. We have rules about this and surface people are not allowed to go to Slugterra." Will said.

"Grandpa's got a point, if people found out that you girls came from up here it would be a disaster." Luke agrees.

"Then they won't know. Where do your friends think you are now?" Sonata asks.

"On a secret mission to a deep faraway cavern hidden away in Slugterra." Luke said.

"Well I'm pretty sure the surface counts as faraway." Rainbow said.

"Plus we're the only ones who know enough about Equestria to help you deal with all this." Twilight said.

"I-I don't know. Look helping up here is one thing, but it's different in Slugterra. If something happens to you girls it's gonna be my fault." Luke said.

"Darling I know you're worried but you've been helping us since you got here. Don't you think it's time we returned the favor?" Rarity points out.

"Come on, we can sling slugs just as good as anyone down there." Rainbow said.

"Grandma, Grandpa? What do you think?" Luke asks.

"These girls do know a lot about Equestria." April said making them smile.

"Alright they can go help, but Luke you have to make sure that all of them keep the surface a secret. We can't risk too much." Will said.

"I understand Grandpa." Luke nods before turning to the girls. "So…who wants to go to Slugterra?"

"Me! Me! Me!" Pinkie said excited.

"Oh what should I wear? I'm so excited." Rarity squeals.

"What should I pack?" Fluttershy asks.

"I hope I can bring my guitar with me." Rainbow said.

"I get to study another world. This is a dream come true." Twilight squeals.

"Ooh I better pack my travel dog bag." Spike said.

"Uh maybe you guys should give your families the heads up. You know see if they're fine with you going on a trip for a while." Will said.

"Oh yeah guess we better do that first." Applejack said.

"Call me when you girls get all this squared away. The sooner the better." Luke said.

Nodding they all headed out.

"Hey Fluttershy." Luke calls out. "Get Jumbo while you're at it."

Nodding Fluttershy ran off to go get ready.

"Well you already got one. I'm heading with you." Sunset said.

"I don't know Sunset, this isn't Equestria. You think you can handle Slugterra?" Luke smirks.

"Who do you think you're talking to?" Sunset smirks playfully punching his shoulder.

Giving him a peck on the cheek, Sunset walks home.

"Make that two." Sonata said walking over. "You guys gave me a new home. I got your back."

"Thanks Sonata." Luke smiles as she goes up to her room.

"Are you sure about this Luke?" Will asks.

"Honestly, it's a gut feeling. This isn't just about 2 worlds anymore. It's 3 worlds now." Luke said as he and Burpy both had serious looks on their faces. "I know I'm going against a lot of Shane rules but I think I do need them."

"I hope you're right Luke. For your sake and the sake of Slugterra." Will said.

A few days later, we find ourselves in the sewers as Luke brought the Mecha Beasts and Jumbo into a large container with the suitcases.

"Alright Spike when you two land make sure the big guy stays hidden until we get down. Can you do that?" Luke asks.

"You got it Luke." Spike said doing a salute with his paw.

"Are sure we packed enough?" Rarity asks.

"Are you kidding? We had to take your bag count down to 2." Applejack said.

"It's not my fault I wanted to prepared for any occasion." Rarity said.

"Relax Rarity, we have stores in Slugterra in case we need anything." Luke said.

Screeching softly, Jumbo looked to Fluttershy.

"Don't worry Jumbo you'll be fine." Fluttershy said stroking his head calming the eel down as Luke closed the container.

"Alright they should be at the bottom waiting for us." Luke said pressing a button and they heard a loud noise followed by a faint scream.

"What was that?" Twilight asks nervously.

"Oh that's just the ride down. First timers get a little nervous." Luke said.

"So uh how are we getting to Slugterra?" Sunset asks.

"There's only one way down." Luke said pressing a secret switch revealing multiple chairs with tons of safety measures. "Pick a chair and strap yourselves in tight."

Following him in, the girls sat down and buckled themselves up tight.

But when more safety restraints appeared the girls looked at Luke in confusion.

"So uh what happens next? Does a tram take us down to Slugterra?" Twilight asks.

"No Twilight we don't." Luke said.

"So then how do we get to your world? Where's the portal?" Sonata asks as Luke sat down and strapped himself in.

"We're sitting in it." Luke said confusing them. "There's a reason we call this The Drop." Luke smirks pointing down.

Looking under their seats the girls widen revealing a secret tunnel right under them.

"Wait you mean we're dropping 100 hundred miles beneath the earth in this?!" Applejack gulps making Fluttershy panic.

"Get me out of here! I take it back! I don't wanna go this way!" Fluttershy panics trying to remove the restraints.

"Hang on tight girls." Luke lifts open the case on one button and pushes it.

Screaming all of them shot down the tunnel-like it was the craziest, wildest roller coaster ride in the world as they went 100 miles beneath the earth's surface.

"THIS IS AWESOME!" Rainbow cheers.

As they rode down through caverns before shooting out the end and parachutes came out of their chairs.

"Girls open your eyes!" Luke calls out.

Slowly the Rainbooms opened them and gasped seeing the new world.

"Incredible." Rainbow said.

"This is Slugterra?" Sunset said amazed.

"Welcome to the world beneath our feet." Luke declares as they landed on the ground.

Slowly climbing out, Luke walks over to see Fluttershy still clinging to her seat like it was her lifeline.

"Fluttershy you can let go now." Luke said.

"I can't." Fluttershy said with a look of fear on her face.

Seeing she needed a way to calm down Luke leaned in and gave her a kiss on the lips allowing Fluttershy to loosen her grip.

"The drop is a little intense." Luke said letting her out only to see Fluttershy was still wobbling.

"Are you kidding? That was fun. Can we go again?" Pinkie asks.

"This isn't like a normal ride Pinkie, getting down is easy, getting up is harder." Luke said pointing upwards to the hole.

"This is incredible, I've never seen mushroom as a big as these before." Twilight said looking at the mushrooms that were as big as trees.

"I gotta say this place is pretty cool." Applejack said.

"My home is a few 100 yards away from here. Lets head over and get ourselves settled in." Luke said.

"Speaking of settling in, where's all our stuff?" Sonata asks.

"And Spike?" Twilight asks when they heard a rumbling from the rocks behind them.

Groaning we see Spike stumble out of a secret hatch with a nauseous look on his face.

"Ugh that was a wild ride." Spike said struggling to keep his lunch down.

"I got you Spike." Twilight said helping him up.

Pressing a hidden switch the rocks moved to reveal Jumbo and the Mechabeasts.

Screeching softly, Jumbo held its head.

"Aw did you get motion sickness Jumbo?" Fluttershy asks stroking his head making the eel calm down.

"Alright you girls head over to my house. I'll meet you there. I need to find a safe place for Jumbo to stay." Luke said.

"Why can't he stay with us?" Fluttershy asks.

"Not enough room, plus he's uh…kinda one of the most feared monsters in Slugterra." Luke admits.

"Wait what?" Applejack gasps.

"And you let us bring him back?" Rainbow asks.

"We need Jumbo's help to drain the Dark Clan members of their negative effects." Luke explains.

"Luke how many secrets have you not told us?" Sonata asks.

"Well I'm a Shane so…" Pausing Luke tried counting with his fingers. "A lot. Now that we're here I need to get you girls up to speed on how we do things here."

"So will your house have enough room for all of us?" Rarity asks.

"It should but I think some of you might need to share rooms. Just go in that direction and you'll see my home. You can't miss it." Reaching into his bag, he pulls out a key card. "Here you'll need this to get inside."

Reaching out Sunset took it.

"Come on, let's go check out our new home away from home." Pinkie said.

As Luke led Jumbo away, the Rainbooms made their way to a large two-story house that looked like it was built into a tree.

"Wow, this place is way different than home." Spike said.

"I'll say." Twilight grins.

Using the keycard, Sunset swipes it unlocking the door.

"Yes it works." Sunset said as they headed inside.

Little did they know on the hill opposite the house a figure with red hair was looking at the house through binoculars.

"Now what do we have here?" He asks when a small creature made a chattering noise.

"Not if we have anything to say about it buddy. Come on, we better get the others." He said as they ran away.

In a small cave, under the Shane household, Luke led Jumbo inside.

"So big guy what do you think?" Luke asks as Jumbo flew inside and circled around before laying against the rocks.

Shrieking Jumbo said he liked it.

"Don't worry we'll make a few adjustments so Fluttershy can easily check in on you." Luke assures.

Leaping out of his belt, Shaman walked towards Jumbo and patted him on the shoulder.

"Huh? I guess since you were originally the Goon you still feel some of a connection with all things Darkbane related." Luke realized.

Shrugging Burpy thought he was onto something.

"Burpy, I'm a little worried. I hope my parents are okay." Luke said as Burpy chirped equally worried. "We're gonna need some help getting the girls up to speed. I wonder if some old faces would be willing to help out."

Up above them, some figures were approaching the Shane base.

Inside, the Rainbooms were checking out their new home.

Laying in the sofa, Spike sighed. "This is the comfiest couch I've ever sat on." Spike sighs as the slugs joined him.

"Forget the couch, check out these rooms." Rainbow said as she and Applejack took one room while Sunset and Sonata took another, Rarity and Twilight took one and Pinkie and Fluttershy took the last.

"You know guys I think I'm gonna like this place." Sunset said walking out.

When she did she sees a family portrait on the wall. On it we see a kid Luke standing in between his parents with Burpy sitting on his head.

"Don't worry Luke, we'll find your family." Sunset vows when Spike lifted his head up.

"Hey guys I hear something coming this way." Spike said when something broke the door open.

Leaping in a small grey lemur-monkey-like creature land in front of him.

"Intruder! Intruder!" Spike barks loudly but the creature whacked Spike with a pillow knocking him to the ground.

"Spike!" Twilight gasps as 8 figures ran inside.

One was a teenage boy with spiky red hair and a red and blue slinger outfit, a teenage boy with spiky blonde hair and a brown and blue slinger outfit, a teenage girl with brown skin, blue hair and a dark blue and orange slinger outfit, a teenage muscular boy that looked like he was part rhino with big ears and horn for nose, green hair and a dark brown and green slinger outfit, an orange-skinned teenage boy with red hair, glasses, a small patch of hair on his chin like a goatee and a red and orange slinger outfit, a green-skinned teenage creature with green skin, long black hair, and an orange, light blue and brown slinger outfit and finally a young woman near her 20s who looked like she was the oldest of the group. She had spiky medium-length purple hair and a dark brown and tan slinger outfit.

"Remember nothing that explodes the house can't be damaged!" The purple-haired girl said.

"Right!" They said charging in.

Before the girls could even react, they were trapped on the second floor from all sides.

"You girls don't know who you're messing with." The blonde boy said.

The girls tried to grab their blasters when the mysterious team fired Arachnet slugs trapping them all in a web against the wall.

"Don't move." A familiar voice said entering the house.

Looking up Sunset's eyes widen to see Starlight Glimmer walk to the front but she was much different from the one they knew. She had her hair the same but the end was tied in a ponytail, a purple and teal slinger outift, a slug belt around her waist and gray pants.

"S-Starlight?" Sunset said surprised.

"Who are you guys?" Starlight asks.

"Who are we? Who are you?" Pinkie asks.

"I asked first and I'm the one holding the blaster so, you wanna tell me why you guys thought you could break into the Shane home while they're away?" Starlight asks aiming a blaster at her.

"We didn't break in." Applejack said.

"Don't lie." The muscular guy said.

"I never lie." Applejack said when the door opens behind them.

"Hey what's going on here?" Luke asks running in.

"Luke get out of here! These people are crazy!" Rainbow said making them freeze up.

"Luke?" Starlight said as they turned around to see him aiming his wrist blasters.

"Luke!" Starlight and the mysterious team smiled.

"Guys?!" Luke smiles as they ran to him.

"Oh buddy I missed you so much." The big muscular guy said hugging Luke close.

"Junko long time no see buddy." Luke chokes.

"Why didn't you tell us you were back?" The red head asks.

"I just got back, Aerrow." Luke admits.

"Finally, the gang is all together again." Starlight smiles hugging Luke from behind. "I missed you." She whispers in his ear.

Seeing this Sunset twitched.

"Uh not to ruin this moment but someone want to get us out of this web?" Sunset calls out.

"Oh right. Guys let them down they're with me." Luke said snapping out of it.

Letting them out of the webs, the Rainbooms fixed themselves.

"I'm really sorry this happened, but my friends were just looking out for my home." Luke said.

"Sorry about that." The one named Aerrow apologized.

"We've been a little on edge from dealing with the Dark Clan." Starling said rubbing the back of her head.

"So you guys are friends of Luke?" Applejack asks.

"We're his best friends." The one with glasses friends.

"Allow me to introduce everyone." Luke said.

"I'm Aerrow."

"Names Finn." The blonde-haired one said.

"Junko a pleasure."

"Sup I'm Piper." The girl with dark hair said.

"Uhm Stork." The green-skinned guy said nervously.

"I'm Sunburst." The one with glasses said.

"And I'm Starling. It appears you've already met Starlight." The older girl with purple hair said.

"And who's this scrappy little fella?" Sonata asks pointing to the little weasel like creature.

"We call him Radarr." Aerrow said.

"So how do you guys know Luke?" Starlight asks.

"We're his new teammates." Rainbow said.

"Wait what?" They said not liking this.

"You see guys, I was having some trouble with my secret mission so I needed some backup. Meet the Rainbooms. Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Sonata Dusk, Spike and Sunset Shimmer." Luke introduced.

"It's nice to meet you all, anyone who has the guts to stand with Luke can't be too bad." Starling smiles.

"Ehh I don't know, we look way awesomer than these girls." Finn said making Rainbow Dash glare at him.

Excuse me? I'm the awesomest thing around." Rainbow said.

"And yeah you sure showed it when we kicked your butts." Finn said

"You took us by surprise." Applejack said.

"Rule one of being on the Shane Gang, always be ready for anything." Junko points out.

"So true big guy, why don't you girls leave it to the professionals." Finn said.

"Great, when are they showing up?" Applejack glares.

Hearing this Finn and Junko glared back at them.

"So you guys are slingers too huh?" Piper asks.

"Yep Luke taught us everything we know." Rarity said.

"Well he clearly didn't teach you how to dress like a slinger."

"Excuse me?" Rarity asks.

"Well this is a messy job and you really think walking around in an outfit like that is practical?" Piper asks.

"Better than what you're wearing." Rarity points.

"What's wrong with my outfit?" Piper asks looking at her clothes.

"Nothing, if you don't care what others thing." Rarity said as the two of them glared each other down.

Below them, Spike and Radarr circled each other.

"Listen whatever you are, I'm the Shane Gang's animal sidekick." Spike said as Radarr pointed at him and made a chattering noise. "Hey! There's no reason to bring my lack of thumbs into this!"

Smirking Radarr made a mocking tone.

"Oh yeah you may have thumbs but at least people can understand me." Spike smirks making Radarr growl in anger. "Yeah that's right I went there."

"Spike you don't need to pick a fight over something like this." Pinkie said.

Crossing his arms Radarr made a mocking chatter noise.

"What did that thing say?" Pinkie narrows her eyes.

"You understand it?" Spike asks.

"Yeah why?" Pinkie asks causing both Spike and Radarr to look at her impressed briefly.

Nearby Sunburst and Twilight were fixing their glasses.

"Ugh how do you get Arachnet webs out of these?" Twilight asks.

"Sneak attacks, a classic strategy for a reason." Sunburst said putting his on.

"Well I'm something of a brainiac myself." Twilight said.

"Good to know, being the smart one is always a struggle." Sunburst admits.

"Well clearly you guys werne't smart enough to listen." Twilight said.

"Excuse me?" Sunburst glares.

"You did attack us without getting a full story. Not very smart if you ask me." Twilight said.

"Well, we didn't exactly hear any of you tell us otherwise." Sunburst said.

"We couldn't because you webbed us to the walls." Twilight glares.

"So are you and Luke close?" Aerrow asks.

"Oh yeah you can say I'm like his right hand." Sonata said proudly.

"Sorry but I don't think that's possible." Aerrow said.

"Why's that?" Sonata asks.

"Because I'm Luke's right hand. The two of us have been a team since we could first shoot a slug." Aerrow said.

"Well things change." Sonata glares.

"Sometimes they don't." Aerrow glares.

"Well Starlight it's a pleasure, Luke's told me a lot about you." Sunset said as they shook hands.

"All good I hope." Starlight said.

"Meh he never brought you up at all. I guess after you two broke up and we met he didn't feel the need to." Sunset said making Starlight glare.

"Oh really? And what's so special about you?" Starlight asks.

"I'm his girlfriend." Sunset said.

"Is that so?" Starlight said not expecting that.

"Yep so sorry you had to find out this way." Sunset said as Starlight glared her down.

"Oh I bet you are." Starlight said.

In the corners, Stork and Fluttershy were too nervous to deal with the others.

As both teams glared each other down Starling slowly moved towards Luke.

"Really uh really interesting team you brought home Luke." Starling cringed.

Chirping Bupry looked at Luke who had a nervous look on his face.

His return home had become a lot more eventful than he thought. As his old team and new team stared each other down Luke realized that before they could find his family and deal with the dangers Slugterra had to offer they were gonna first need to learn how to survive each other.
