Just a little sonnet I wrote after seeing the musical for the first time. I apologise for the general rubbishness, it's my first shot at a sonnet

Enjolras

His life, scarcely begun, has been ended.

He was shot in the middle of the night

He won't see again what he defended

Or look upon the sun that shines so bright.

It was dark when he died, no star was lit.

For the light of freedom he gave his life.

He lived for his country and died for it.

Through his death many others will survive.

What has changed, now that he is dead and gone?

His death rallied the people to fight

Inspired by him their fight can be won

And they can defeat the French armies' might.

Though your body may in earth be rotten,

Enjolras, you will not be forgotten!
