Waking up to a bright room was the only indication that it was morning. I stretched and made my way to the kitchen to see if anyone else was awake.
Looking into the empty kitchen I sigh before checking the bedrooms. Plopping down on the couch.
"It's so nice to see you too, dad! Omg Bella did you somehow get even more pale" I say to the empty room. Taking out my phone I call my dad.
"This is Charlie, leave a message."
"Hey dad, just calling to let you know I made it safely. I guess you guys will be back eventually. Probably on the plane right now." Groaning, I hung up the phone.
Suddenly there is a knock at the door. Ignoring it only causes the knocks to become more urgent, so I get up to answer it.
"Billy! Jake! How have you guys been?" I say surprised. Smiling, I open the door wider to let them in.
"Nicole I can't believe it's been a year. You are growing up to be a beautiful young lady." Billy says as a blush immediately rushes towards my cheeks.
"Uh thanks Billy. What brings you guys down here? Dad is with Bella. I guess she got into some trouble and is in the hospital."
"Ahh yes, your sister is running with a bad crowd. Do you remember the Cullen kids?"
Scrunching my face in thought. "The doctor's creepy kids? What do they have to do with anything?" The room goes quiet and tense.
"Your sister is dating one of them" Jacob finally says.
"Well, you know Bella is always going against the normal way of things. Trust her to think one of those creepy mannequins is boyfriend material." I say shivering.
They both chuckle and I decide to make us some breakfast. Not long after that they were leaving.
"You should come down to La Push. I know Quil and Embry will be excited to see you" Jake said while giving me a hug.
"Yeah, you guys are going to get tired of me pretty soon. Two months of me is nothing. Now a whole year I'm going to drive you guys crazy." I chuckle and wave as they drive off.
Smiling for what seemed like the first time since I've been here, I start to clean the kitchen. As I'm finishing up, I hear a car in the driveway. Before I can step out of the kitchen the door is opening and in step my father and sister with a person I can only assume is the cullen my sister is dating.
I opened my mouth to say something and was immediately interrupted. "Bella, you need to be more careful. You are already unstable and now you only have one leg to work with." My father says concerned.
Rolling her eyes, she replies. "I will be okay Charlie; Edward will take care of me."
I don't know what made me more upset her calling our dad by his name or her blatantly disregarding our dads' feelings. I clear my throat making my dad and sister jump.
"Why hello dad. Perhaps after you are done babying Bella, you could acknowledge me. Bella nice to see you, sorry about the leg though I can't say I'm surprised. With your lack of balance, we should have already seen this coming."
Ok I'll admit that was a tad on the bitchy side but come on its like my dad has Bella blinders on. You would have to be the pope to get some attention from him when she is there.
Smiling slightly scratches the back of his head nervously. "Sorry Niks, I am glad you are going to be staying with us. It just has been a hectic couple of days."
I walk up to him cautiously and hug him. I can tell he is a little surprised and feels awkward. My dad is not a very affectionate man.
"I'm going to help Bella to her room, and we can catch up" he ruffles my hair and follows the guy and Bella to her room.
After a while I start to hear a little yelling and a door slam. A couple of seconds later the guy and dad come downstairs. He walks him to the door and says something I can not hear.
Dad comes and plops on the couch exhausted. "Your sister is grounded please make sure that Edward and her don't hang out too much."
"How am I supposed to do that? She still has the rest of the school year and my school is already out"
"You are right" he sighs out.
"You know when I was your age, I always wanted kids"
"Really?!" To say I was shocked was an understatement.
"Yes, when Renee had Bella, it was a dream come true. I loved her and I wanted to start my life with her. It broke my heart that she didn't want the same things. I worked really hard to try to provide for them."
I close my eyes tightly. Of course, its Bella, Its always Bella. No mention of the stupid drunk mistake. He never wanted me I was an accident. Taking a deep breath, I open my eyes and smile.
"Well dad, the world works in mysterious ways. I'm sure Bella knows you love her and want the best for her. You're a great father for her"
Standing up I leave and go to Bella's room. I open the door and find her glaring at me.
"Hey big sis! Did you miss me?" I sit carefully on her bed avoiding her leg.
"What do you want I'm a little busy"
"Look I'm just coming in here to tell you to lay off dad. He's really trying and while you just recently started to come back around. I have been here every summer my whole life. I can tell that he is stressed out."
Standing up I could tell she was a little shocked. Walking towards her door I look back.
"Also it wouldn't kill you to call him dad. Goodnight Isabella."
Smirking I close her door and go to my room. Throwing myself on my bed I sigh and bury my head in the pillow resisting the urge to scream. I jump in fright as my phone rings.
"Hello?"
"Hey Nicole, it's Riley. What's up?"
"Riley! Hey! It's been totally stressful over here how are you?"
"Sorry to hear that. I was actually heading to Port Angeles and wanted to know if you want to come hang out."
"Oh I don't really have a car but if you can come to Forks to pick me up I'd definitely be down." I bite my lip in anticipation.
"Awesome! Send me the address and I'll be on my way." Smiling wider I rush to my room to change.
Finally deciding on a red skater dress and pulling my hair into a messy bun. I make my way downstairs. I see dad snoring on the couch and shake him awake.
"Dad… Dad! I'm going to meet up with a friend and we are going to hang out in Port Angeles. He's on his way to pick me up."
As soon as I said he I can see my dad shoot up.
"Another boy?" he groaned.
"The perils of having girls dad" I chuckle as I hear a knock on the door.
"That's him don't act crazy dad"
Opening the door, I see Riley's smiling face. Before I could say anything, my dad steps out and glares.
"Have her back before 10" He grumbled
Going out with Riley was an experience. I met a couple of his friends, and we had a great time bowling. Unfortunately, time flies when you are having fun and soon it was 9.
"I probably should take you back home" Riley sighed after throwing his arm around me as we walked to the car.
"True I don't want my dad to ground me" I laugh out.

As time passed, I hung out more and more with Riley. He became one of my closest friends. Even Charlie was warming up to him. I would even say that this year hasn't been too bad. I noticed that even Bella has lightened up a bit.
Everything was going great and as you know that's always a sign for disaster.
"Happy Birthday Isabella" I say handing her the gift I bought. I rolled my eyes as she mumbled a thank you.
Okay so we will never see eye to eye.
"How does if feel to be an old lady" I joke and laugh.
I stop as she glares. "I'm not even old! I wish everyone would stop bring up my birthday."
She storms to the bathroom. Dramatic much. I am happy I do not have to deal with her tonight because she has a stupid private party with the Cullens.
They still give me the creeps and I have only met Edward and Alice. He is always staring at me weird and it gives me the heebie jeebies.
I send Riley a text complaining and suggest a day out for the weekend. Little did I know that wasn't going to happen.

I startle awake as a scream pierces my subconscious. I sigh in frustration and curse the Cullens for what seems like the hundredth time in the past month.
They left town and unfortunately left melodramatic Bella in their wake. Now I must deal with dad forcing me to hang out with her in the day after school and Bella's screams waking me up in the middle of the night. Honestly, they weren't even together that long.
Apparently, the asshole left Bella in the woods after breaking up with her. This sort of solidifies the fact that I think they are a family of serial killers. I mean break up with her over the phone or in person at a restaurant like a normal person.
To make maters even worse Riley has stopped responding to my messages. I sigh as I call him again.
"Riley, I know this is like the 20th time I've called you but I'm seriously worried. Call or text me back let me know you're okay so I can stop going crazy."
I'll have to have dad take me to his house to see what's going on if I don't hear from him soon. As I make the plans another scream penetrates the air.
"Fucking Bella" I mutter as I cover my head with a pillow.
"Dad! This is serious he always texts me back or calls. It's been three days I know something is wrong I can feel it!"
"Look Niks I get it okay. Between work at the station and your sister I really don't have anytime to take you right now."
I cross my arms. "This is completely unfair! I never ask you for anything dad I need this!"
"I can give her a ride Chief" We both swing our heads toward the voice.
"Daniel! Can you that would be lifesaving! Literally!" I smile at him. With the situation with Riley temporarily solved I can finally rest easy. Hopefully.
I wipe my hands on my jeans as I walk up to his house and knock. A blonde woman comes to the door with red rimmed eyes.
"Umm Hi sorry to bother you but I'm Nicole one of Riley's friends. He hasn't been in touch with me for a couple of days and that's not like him at all. I was wondering if I could talk to him."
My eyes widen as she starts to cry. A man that looks just like Riley walks up behind her and hugs her glaring at me.
"We are not doing any interviews." He goes to slam the door but before he could the woman stops him.
"Todd stop this is Nicole one of Riley's friends."
He looks at me with pity as I ring my hands.
"Nicole I'm sorry but Riley has been missing since Monday"
With those words my heart stopped, and my world faded to black.
