Percy POV:
"Who are you really?" Chiron began.
I held up a single finger. "Hold up." I took an orb like device out of my pocket and slammed it down on the desk. "Activate, Mode Muffliato." I said in a straight voice.
"Recognized, Hunter Perseus Achilles Jackson. #4598." An automated voice read. "Activating Muffliato."
Chiron stared in wonderment as the orb expanded until we were surrounded by a translucent blue semicircle. "What is this?"
"It's a device that ensures whatever conversations we have stay in here, no matter what. Only the one who owns the device can share any information shared here. If you attempt to repeat anything I tell you, you'll find yourself unable to, be it voluntarily or involuntarily. Technology developed my Hephaestus and Hecate kids together." I explained.
"I know you could've sworn on the River Styx, and normally I wouldn't mind to go to such extremes, but what I'm telling you is universe fracturing type stuff, so I'd rather not take any unnecessary risks."
Chiron nodded in understanding. He gestured for me to begin.
I sighed. "I go by the moniker Riptide, but my real name is Perseus Jackson, a son of Poseiden from a parallel universe to this one."
"How can you be sure?"
"Everything that I've seen in this world has played out exactly like my third summer in camp." I said. "Everything seems to be the same, except the fact that I was born a girl here."
The centaur's face took two seconds to realize fully what I meant. "Wait... you're saying... that you are Atalanta?"
"More like she is me... but yah, we're the same person." I said. "I called myself Riptide, because that's the name of the sword that I wield, the same as hers." I unsheathed my own leaf-shaped blade, placing it on Chiron's desk. "The main difference being, I'm a decade older than Atalanta is right now."
"Do you have a reason as to why you're here?"
I shook my head. "I was chasing a monster in my world when something slammed into me. I dunno what happened but when I gathered my surroundings, I found myself back in front of Westover Hall, with people who were supposed to be dead being alive, or comrades who were my age suddenly a lot younger than normal."
"Work of the Fates, perhaps?" Chiron suggested.
I groaned. "Honestly, I wouldn't even be surprised. Pardon my language, but they've fucked up my life way too many times. I was lucky to get retirement in New Rome and go to college properly for once."
"New Rome?" Chiron noticed. "You... we didn't, right?"
"If you're asking about the Romans based in California, yah, we met them. We started off rough at first, but in the end, it was all worth it. Combined, we achieved some really amazing feats. I even got made praetor there!" I reminiscenced.
"I thought meeting the Romans would mean war." Chiron murmured.
"Oh well, you're right. We did fight. But because of a combined group made of Greek and Roman demigods, it was thank to them that the world was saved."
"The Prophecy of the 7?" Chiron guessed, catching the look in my eye.
I nodded. "Me, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel, and Frank. Poseiden, Athena, Jupiter, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Pluto, and Mars. That was our team. And on the side, Reyna, the praetor of Rome, Nico, you know, that little boy from earlier, and a satyr Coach Hedge. A gamble from Hera to combine the camps almost destroyed us all, but thankfully we were able to shape up and beat Gaea."
Chiron stared at me, blank-faced. "Gaea? Nico? Hera did what?"
I glanced at the watch on my wrist. "Look man, the story's kinda long. I'll tell you sometime, but dinner's coming soon. Here's the ten second version. Titan War. Done. Second Giant War. Done. Nico is gay and a son of Hades. He was born before the pact in like 19 something, and after Zeus murdered his mother, Hades put the twins into the Lotus Casino, you know, the timeless hotel? So, the kid is like, 67 years old. And Hera did something really stupid that turned out to work after all."
I deactivated the privacy bubble and stood.
"We have a Capture the Flag game with the Hunters tomorrow night," Chiron suddenly said. "Would you be interested to join?"
I grinned and turned my head backwards. "You bet. It's been a while since I played."
"Perseus."
"Yah?"
"How many people know about... you?"
"You and Artemis, sir." I replied. "You were my teacher and mentor for life, I have no reason not to trust you here. And Artemis was my personal trainer for 18 months, and she's one of the few deities I actually respect, so I told her as well." I didn't mention Zoe, as I didn't have a reason really for why she knew as well.
I left the room and grabbed my stuff, heading straight for the Poseiden cabin. Now three people knew my secret. And I had promised to tell Atalanta someday. I stopped in front of the cabin door, slightly hesitant. I knocked on the door, and when there was no response, I let myself inside. The interior was just as I remembered, the scent of the sea calming me almost instantly. I automatically moved towards my usual bunk before I realized that that was Atalanta's bunk now, not mine, the realization hitting me hard when I noticed a set of underwear on the mattress that definitely did not belong to me. I blushed and found myself a different bed, closer to the door and far from Atalanta's space.
It was then that I realized neither of us had ever had bunkmates before. I mean, Tyson doesn't really count, cause I figured we both knew him from the start, even before learning that he was a Cyclops. I certainly never had a sister at the same time that I had lived in the cabin. After the Giant War, it turns out that most of Poseiden's kids were either already adults, or dead. So Cabin 3 remained mostly empty, while many other cabins filled up.
I kicked off my shoes and stored my bag in the drawer next to the bed, then jumped on the mattress and lay still. First, even though I was super excited to see what goes down now, I was more intent on figuring out how and why I was in this parallel universe. Surely, surely it couldn't be just to entertain me, because even Zeus knows how much the Fates enjoy screwing over with someone's life.
From my vantage point, I could see the Minotaur horn hanging on the wall right beside Atalanta's bed, bringing back my own memories. We finally locked that guy up in a holding cell in Tartarus after I killed him 347 times, ending his endless revenge streak on me. Like once, I was out shopping for goddamn groceries and the Minotaur charged out of the bushes, sliced a car in half and proceeded to chase me around the block. By the time I was able to take care of him in a secluded area, I had lost a bag of cereal, some fruit, and the broccoli for that night's dinner. I kept staring at the wall, until I heard a click, the sound of the bathroom door opening.
"Panama Canal? Why's it so far?" Atalanta muttered to herself, stumbling from the fountain she had just chatted with Tyson with to the bathroom. She was dressed in an extremely short pair of booty shorts and a loose white tank top, not knowing that she had a new bunkmate. When she left the bathroom, she entered my direct line of sight, accidentally of course (you pervs!).
"Shit." I hissed. Atalanta looked up in surprise and shrieked, diving behind the bed.
"Riptide you perv!"
"I'm not a perv!" I yelled back, a hand clapped over my eyes. "Put some clothes on for god's sake!"
"Why? This is my cabin! Get out!" Atalanta yelped, exchanging her revealing outfit for more conservative clothing. "What are you even doing in here in the first place?"
"I'm a son of Poseiden, remember?" I scoffed. "I have every right to be in this cabin."
"That doesn't give you the rights to peek!" Atalanta blushed, her face hot.
"It wasn't on purpose!"
"Yah right! Don't think I don't see you staring at Zoe all the time!"
"Gah! I've never done that!"
"Liar!"
"What do you know?" I shot back. "I told you before, I've met Zoe before. We're just... acquaintances."
"Sure, sure," Atalanta giggled. "You can uncover your eyes now. I'm not half naked anymore."
I groaned and lowered my hand. "Oh thank goodness. Is that seriously all you wear when you're by yourself?"
"Yep, why? You don't wear skimpy clothing in bed?" She teased.
I groaned again. "And this is why I lived alone. Look, the most I did was sleep shirtless, but that's cause the sea breeze felt good on my flawless abs."
"Pft." Atalanta flipped her hair, rolling her eyes. "You aren't too bad as a brother. I don't mind."
I nodded my thanks. "It's a first for me too. I've never had a sibling before. So, what was going on back there?"
Atalanta glanced back at the fountain. "Well, I got a call from... my brother."
"Um, I don't remember us chatting. Did I zone out again?"
Atalanta laughed. "Well, not you... I meant, my other brother. He's a Cyclops." She finished, her face daring me to react violently or something.
"Cool." I said. "I have a brother who's a Cyclops as well. He's super dope."
The girl relaxed. "He gave me some updates about the stuff he's been working on. He also told me about one of our enemy's locations, which is strangely far."
"The Panama Canal?" I said, very carefully. I didn't want to give out my secret too early.
"Yah, and I have no idea why." Atalanta mumbled. "Sometimes, I wish this war could just be over. With the whole Great Prophecy and thing coming, everything feels so hectic."
I nodded sympathetically. "Hey, life as a demigod is not easy task. If we aren't training, we're fighting for our lives. The most and best we can do is roll with it, and conquer that stress."
"You make it sound so easy." Atalanta huffed. "Then again, aren't you like 20 something years old. That's old for a demigod right?"
"Yah," I said. "But I had friends fight alongside me all those times, and a family to trust. I was able to enjoy living life, instead of losing my mind."
"Oh right!" Atalanta suddenly said. "You should meet my mom sometime. I think she'll really like you!"
The moment Atalanta said 'mom', my mind blanked. I had been transported to this world out of nowhere, my own mom back in my world must be worried nuts. Then, I remembered that my mom had been made the new Earth mother, so perhaps she hadn't notice yet. That didn't calm me whatsoever, and I only got snapped out of my thoughts by Atalanta's constant tapping.
"Yo, Riptide!" Atalanta had descended to straight up slapping my arms to get my attention, which it did, and the pain came soon after.
"OW! Alright, I'm back, geez." I rubbed my sore arm. "Just got lost in my thoughts for a moment, no need to beat my arm off."
"Nah, the Hunters will do that for me." Atalanta grinned. "Since you blanked out, you seemed to have missed the dinner horn. Let's go big bro. The steak here is absolutely fine!"
I followed my new...sister? out of the cabin, my thoughts still swirling in my head, just like the snow in the sky. "Let's just roll with it for now." I advised myself. "We'll ride the wave until something comes up. Then... I'll figure out how to go back."
§§§§§
Dinner was just as amazing as I remembered it to be. Having eaten mortal food while on the hunt really makes the mind forget about the deliciousness of camp meals, and I hungrily devoured my barbecue and pizza and steak, drinking nonstop three goblets worth of goat's mead, a new drink I got introduced to after visiting Magnus and his Norse junkies up in Boston. Atalanta watched me inhale the food in amazement.
"Damn, you eat like a black hole." She said, taking small savory bitefuls of her pizza. "You eat like that one anime guy with the straw hat and stretchy arms."
"You watch anime?" I chuckled.
"Don't tell anyone," she blushed. "But I skipped training once to binge-watch 20 episodes."
"You're even rebelling against the system! Good job, sis!" I congratulated her, making her smile.
The torches and braziers kept the outdoor pavilion warm, basking everyone with a warm golden light. I thought I saw the silhouette of a little girl next to the main brazier but when I blinked, she disappeared. Looks like Hestia was the same here as she was back home. Everyone was sitting at their designated tables, so Thalia was sitting alone. The Hephaestus, Apollo, and Ares tables had a few people, with Nico joining up with the Stoll brothers at the Hermes table since he was still technically "undetermined." The Stolls seemed to be trying to convince the son of Hades that poker was much more fun than Mythomagic, but knowing Nico, he wasn't so easily swayed. I remember once when he was out on a date with Will, he was distracted by an extremely rare shiny holofoil card that essentially stole all the attention away from Will. We ended up cracking that joke for days, with Will fake crying every time the card was mentioned.
And just like before, the Hunters were the only one who looked like they were having the time of their life. I noticed Atalanta watching them too, observing how Zoe practically carried the whole group like one big family, filling the air with incessant chatter about random things. I was glad to see her up and smiling again, the pale color her face was no longer present. Her eyes caught mine staring for a moment, making me quickly look away. She was fine now. I didn't have to watch over her like an owl or something. It would be better for both of us if we stopped acting so friendly.
When we finished eating, Chiron made the customary toast to the gods and formally welcomed the Hunters of Artemis. The clapping was pretty half-hearted, but then again, the Hunters did burn down cabins last time, so I wasn't really expecting a super enthusiastic welcome. However, when Chiron announced the "good will" Capture the Flag game that would take place the next night, reception was a lot better. We trailed off afterwards for an early nights out. The good news was that I blacked out quickly. The bad news was that, I had forgotten I had gone back in time. And that unfortunately meant one thing. Dreams. Not just any dreams. Demigod dreams aka the nightmares of mortal nightmares. And this one was a lot worse than I imagined.
I found myself on a dark hillside covered in fog. It almost felt like the Underworld, but a lot colder than the Underworld because it was Mount Othrys, the black marble fortress of the Titans all the way in California. The thought of the place alone brought back waves of depressing thoughts, including how powerful and cruel Atlas had been. It also reminded me over and over again of Zoe's death, making me yell in frustration. Of course, it was only a dream, and so I couldn't even hear my own voice.
Since Annabeth hadn't been taken this time, a young girl had been used instead to carry the weight of the sky. Whatever she was, she was flickering, her form becoming translucent.
"We need to hurry," came a familiar voice. "She's fading quickly."
I tensed up as my heartbeat quickened. Luke, my old rival and enemy. Hard to believe that he turned to the dark side in attempt to protect the ones he loved the most, that being Annabeth and Thalia. I couldn't hate him like I used to before the war, because I was there when he took momentary control to stab himself while Kronos had his body. How can you hate someone who took their own life to save the world? Even with all the crap he pulled, Luke left the world a hero, though flawed, but still a hero.
"Choose!" A powerful baritone voice boomed across the dark landscape, like the sound of a bass-boosted waterfall. I snarled subconsciously, unable to stop myself from reacting nastily to Atlas' mere presence. A meaty hand shoved someone forward, and much to my surprise, it wasn't Artemis, but Athena. I couldn't get over my shock quick enough before the wisdom goddess had taken the fading girl's place, practically spitting at Atlas' feet. The girl was then killed immediately by Luke, her body thrown off the cliff.
The dream blurred, bringing me to a monster encampment at the bottom of the mountain. My dream self zipped past the groups of cyclops, wild centaurs, hellhounds, dracaena, and various other monster species towards a main central tent. I phased inside, finding a rather horrific sight. The coffin that housed Kronos' body sat on one side, emitting a strong sense of dominance. On the other side of the room sat an imperial gold cage, and inside sat Artemis, chained and gagged, her clothes ripped. Her weapons had been tossed at the back of the tent. She looked asleep at the moment, making me wonder how exactly they got captured. Neither goddess was very weak, but for both to go down in such a way was very troubling. Not only would we have to save two goddesses now, we would have to defeat Atlas, Luke, and an army of monsters.
A scream outside my dreamscape shattered my thoughts, and I was jolted awake. I huffed, my neck sweaty. What the hell? I glanced at the watch on my wrist. It was around 2:00 am in the morning. Then Atalanta screeched again, her hands clawing at the sheets. I tumbled off my bed and ran to her, summoning a ball of water that I dropped on her face. The splash woke her up instantly, making her wake up with frantic eyes. "A-Athena...she-she..."
I nodded in understanding, massaging Atalanta's shoulders in attempt to calm her. "Hey, hey it's alright. Just, take a couple breaths yah?"
Atalanta took the advice and began calming herself, her hands becoming less tense until the sheets dropped from them completely.
"I know what it's like to have demigod dreams," I murmured. "But you can't let whatever you see control or scare you. It's not easy, but it's necessary. Why don't you start by telling me what happened?"
Atalanta choked out the bits slowly, repeating exactly what I had seen in the first half of my dream. However, she didn't say anything about Artemis, shaking her head when I asked her if she saw anyone else. That made me slightly confused. Why did I see Artemis getting captured as well, but Atalanta didn't? I told Atalanta to see if she could get back to sleep, making the girl nod somewhat miserably before she hit the mattress once more. I on the other hand, activated my cyber suit and initiated invisibility, vapor traveling out of the cabin and onto the beach, where I rematerialized. I sat on the sand, my eyes staring out into the dark blue horizon. Everything was getting so complicated, it was almost frustrating.
I turned back after 10 minutes of meditation exercises and decided to take a walk around camp, keeping my invisibility on to avoid getting terrorized by night patrol harpies. It honestly wasn't as bad as Leo's night watchmen, or rather, his group of security drones that patrolled the night and were capable of seeing through invisibility. I heard that Piper and Jason were once busted by the drones when they decided to go on a romantic nightly picnic. It was solid gold, and ended up getting posted on the Olympus facebook page, making the couple the butt of many jokes alongside Nico's obsession for rare Mythomagic cards.
It was when I was walking back to my cabin that I suddenly remembered Zoe having a dream after Atalanta's...er mine...um you know what I mean! Last time she had gone to Argus and Chiron and called them a bunch of rude things, so I wondered if I would be able to soften her up a bit this time, maybe make her less panicked. Unfortunately, by the time I passed the Big House, she was already there, harassing the crap out of Argus, who looked like he'd rather be ripping out his eyeballs instead of listening to Zoe.
I approached the porch to catch the last couple words she was saying.
"Let me see Chiron, thou boil-brained lout!" Zoe yelled, making Chiron burst out in slight annoyance.
"Miss Nightshade. What is so urgent that you need me at this early of an hour?" The centaur yawned, taking in Zoe's ruffled state.
"Lady Artemis is in danger! I need thy permission to leave the camp so that we can go save her." Zoe stated.
"Out of the question." Chiron rebutted. "I have orders from your mistress for you to stay here until she returns."
"What?! But she's in trouble!" Zoe shot back, her face tense.
Chiron shook his head. "I can't grant you something when I have no direct orders from Artemis herself. I'm sorry."
Zoe then started talking really fast and old-fashioned that I couldn't even understand anymore. Chiron and Argus sort of just stood there and listened with half-an-ear, as neither of them, like Chiron had repeated multiple times, could do anything.
"Look, Miss Nightshade, whatever you say, I can't do anything." Chiron finalized. "It's just not within my power to do so."
Zoe finally gave up and ripped off the parlor, jumping off as tears escaped her eyes. I chased after her of course and managed to catch up, turning visible before pulling her aside once we got out of the Big House's viewing range. Of course, Zoe wasn't going to come quietly after such a heated argument, and she fought ferociously, clawing at me and attempting to unsheathe her knives, which I had quickly disarmed her of. She attempted to draw her bow, but found that missing too, and she huffed, finally calming down somewhat and taking a moment to figure out who had grabbed onto her.
"Oh, Perseus, it's thee." She muttered. "What are thou doing here?"
"I was on a walk," I said briskly. "Then I saw you exploding at the camp director for an undoubtedly good but unfortunate reason."
"Let me go!" She kicked helplessly.
"You want me to throw you over my shoulder?" I threatened. "You won't be able to do anything when you're 6 ft off the ground."
Zoe shut up, but pushed my arms off nevertheless. "Can I have my weapons back?"
"Oh these?" I smirked, twirling her knives and bow in my hand. "Sure... if you can catch up!" I darted away, laughing at Zoe's indignant cry of surprise. The huntress wasn't as down as she looked though, as she funneled the rage of not being able to leave camp into chasing after me. I raced towards the arena, fiddling with Zoe's weapons in the middle of arena as I waited for her to catch up.
"Per...Perseus, why are thou doing this?" Zoe panted lightly as she reached me.
"An angry person does a lot of irrational things," I stated seriously, holding out her bow and nocking three of her own arrows. While I spoke, I aimed the bow at three separate targets. Without looking, I fired, hitting a bullseye on each target. "I figured that taking you her to let loose a bit before going back would help a bit."
Zoe put her hands on her hips, making me realize that she was actually dressed in a combat version of sleepwear, which was slightly thinner than the usual Hunter outfit. I blushed and looked away, hoping she didn't catch the red tinge on my face when I realized how much her current outfit accentuated her feminine figure. Damn you stupid hormones!
I handed the huntress back her bow and quiver of arrows, as well as her knives. "Do you sleep with these on?"
"They're magic," Zoe murmured. "They only appear when the hunter needs them."
I nodded, then thrust my arm into the air. I shoved all the snow away, creating a dome of warm un-snowed space that glowed orange from the arena torches. I deactivated my suit, shaking my hair as my helmet came off. Zoe seemed slightly unsure of what to do, so I grabbed her by the forearm and gestured to the nearby benches.
"What are thou doing now?" She asked warily. She didn't flinch away like last time, and her glare had a lot less ice beneath it.
"Sit," I said. "And tell me what you saw."
I took off my shirt again, knowing that Zoe was completely unaffected by it, and began punching rounds on a dummy.
Just like Atalanta, Zoe began tentatively, recounting the exact scene that I saw in the second half of my dream. Somehow, I saw both Atalanta's and Zoe's dreams in my own, making my wonder even more so just what was going on. Zoe ended up throwing another old-fashioned vocabulary filled tantrum, to which led to her shooting bullseye after bullseye back to back until she had split her first arrow in half 20 times.
I delivered one final right hook to the dummy head, ripping it off and launching it into the arena wall where it stuck. I looked at Zoe, who was breathing hard but seemed to be all the much calmer than she was an hour ago.
"You're better now." I noticed, my arm stuck out to summon my water jug.
Zoe sighed, her face emotionless as she shot the last arrow in her quiver, splitting the target in half and piercing into the wall, right next to my dummy head.
"Yah." She breathed. "Thanks."
"Anytime." I chuckled. "You want water?"
Zoe seemed to debate on whether or not to say yes, but nodded anyways. I tossed her an unopened water bottle, which she downed completely in 15 seconds.
"Wow, you trust me enough to hand you water?" I joked. "That's a first."
"What?!" Zoe stared at the bottle. "Thou put something?!"
I facepalmed. "I'm kidding! I was thirsty, thought you felt the same, and gave you water. I just didn't think you would take it like a normal person."
"I'm not a normal person?" Zoe asked confused. Her face was so genuinely bewildered, I actually believed she really didn't realize how biased the Hunters truly were.
"Normally this is a typical Hunter reaction to a boy helping them," I said, setting my bottle aside to prepare to act. "Actually it happened yesterday, so please don't shoot me in the ass for 'blowing things out of proportion.'" I made finger quotation marks when I said that, making Zoe smirk.
"So you were losing consciousness right?" I began. "So I bent down over you to see if you were alright, and one of your fellow Hunters almost shoots me in the face."
"Which one?"
"Lydia, the white haired girl."
Zoe's face contorted. "Oh, she's... that's unfortunate for thee. She hates males probably the most of us all, besides myself."
"Yah, I could tell," I said dryly. "She wouldn't believe that I was trying to help you and continued to shoot me and threaten me until I swore on the River Styx. Then she wouldn't let me bring you to the infirmary–"
"Good." Zoe interrupted.
"Wait...WHAT?! I was trying to help, I can't believe you're taking her side!" I yelled. "Come on, am I that untrustworthy?"
Zoe giggled. "I'd rather jump off a cliff than get carried to the infirmary on the back of a male, even if it's thee. The lieutenant of the Hunters, beaten by a male? Preposterous."
I laughed and hit her shoulder playfully. "That reminds me actually. I beat you in that first match, so it's 1-0."
"When I feel better, I'll kick thy butt." She shot back.
"Well, we have a game tomorrow." I said. "Back in my time, you guys beat us really badly. But I bet I could take you on now, since I'm older."
Zoe's face darkened slightly. "Was-was what you said back in the tent true? Do I really get killed by my father?"
I reached out to rest a hand on her shoulder, then pulled back halfway, figuring that she wouldn't appreciate it. "Unfortunately yes. But you won't this time. I'll make sure of it."
"Why are thou so willing to fight fate for a stranger?" Zoe asked. "You don't know me in this world like thou knew thy world's me."
"Perhaps it's because I'm trying to find a reason for being here," I explained. "But so many things are already different, that I'm not sure if saving your life is that big of a deal."
"Like..."
"Well, for one main difference," I began. "Both Artemis and Athena were captured this time. I don't know how, because I've seen your mistress fight like hell before, but I've also witnessed Atlas and Luke fighting together. In my timeline, only Artemis was captured, and we went on a quest to find the beast she was hunting and save her life. But in doing so, we lost a Hunter's life... and yours."
Zoe stared at me, her face blank. Her eyes seemed to be debating something, before she opened her mouth to ask something I didn't expect. "Thou talks about me with such conviction."
I nodded sheepishly. "I mean, I was pretty young back then, and it wasn't every day you got to fight alongside a 2000 year old huntress that wasn't the goddess herself. In my eyes, you were every bit impressive. You were strong, and despite your grudges with Thalia, you forgave her before you died. Your leadership skills were amazing as well, despite you being, well... you know rough with us a bit."
"Were-were we ever more than friends?" Zoe blurted out before she could stop herself. Her face pinked, her hands clapped over her mouth.
My eyes widened. I coughed and choked on the water I was drinking. My face was hot as I tried to regain control of my emotions. "What?! No, no, I never... No, just no." I assured her. "I had a crush on someone else back then, plus you were too scary to approach in that sense anyways."
Zoe gave a sigh of relief.
"Did you believe we got romantically involved?" I asked in disbelief. "You're the lieutenant of the Hunters, and foresworn against males for 2000 plus years. I would've been impressed if you somehow had fallen for someone like me." I dropped on the bench beside her and continued. "But, if there's ever a reality where somehow, you end up with me, I would never treat you the way Hercules did."
The girl nodded numbly, making the silence slightly even more awkward. I stood and brushed myself off, glancing at my watch. I put on my shirt and activated my suit.
"You alright?" I asked. "You know how to get back to the cabins right?"
Zoe nodded wordlessly again, giving me the cue to vapor travel straight into my cabin. I deactivated my suit and collapsed into bed at 4 am in the morning. "What am I doing?"
A/N:
I checked the followers list and it turns out, lots of you are really excited for this story. Well, I'm always glad to have more readers join me on this journey, so if you're new, welcome welcome to the party. If you've already been reading my stuff, I sure hope I've impressed you once again.
If you have a copy of The Titan's Curse on you, this story will essentially follow that same plot, except everything will be from Percy's point of view, so some scenes may not be specifically mentioned because they happen at the same that Percy is doing something else.
Muffliato: Harry Potter reference, anybody get it?
One Piece anime reference: Luffy and Percy eating like black holes
Funny thing is, I read the PJO series back when I was in 5th grade right? So for you non-Americans, that's when I was about 10-11 years old. I didn't know what the Panama Canal was, and found the whole Luke's ship being down there very confusing. Then I realized the meaning just now while I was writing this chapter and literally facepalmed.
For those of you who still don't get it, Luke's central base is a cruise ship. However, the Titan base is in California, which is on the opposite side of New York, where all the stuff was originally going down. In order to get a ship to the other side, you need to sail all the way down to the Panama Canal, a specially built river system that used to be the sole way ships could get from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific without having to sail all the way down to the tail of South America and back up. They could just cut through Panama, which is located in Central America.
I'm a moron, I know. But sometimes you only realize things when you actually take the time to think about it.
Have a good weekend, everyone!
Peace out, you legends.
