Looking at him I scoff at the pathic look on his face. I turned back to the elders who were still trying to calm the pack down.
"When I was attacked, I entered a limbo of sorts. I was greeted by Sarah Black"
Gasps filled the room as it got quiet. Looking directly at Billy.
"she told me the story of Jacob, Mora, And Aiyanna. She explained the gift that the ancestors blessed the tribe with. Other half or soul mates what I can only guess you call imprinting now. She told me the history of the first Jacob, his imprint Aiyanna and his love Mora."
As I retold the story, I can sense that I had everyone's undivided attention.
"She is making this up! Jacob wants Bella and not her, so she construed this whole story for us to feel bad. So that he would beg for her forgiveness."
Leah called out as I was done. Before I could defend myself, Billy spoke up.
"Actually, Leah this story is one we have in our archives. I felt it was inappropriate to tell as everyone who found their imprint did not try to fight it. Please continue Nicole."
I told them of my next visits and teared up as I told them about the final moments with my mom.
"I was never told that Jacob would lose his gift. I am just making assumptions based on what I learned. Imprints are supposed to be treated with the upmost care and respect. When I was attacked the ancestors saw that as a spit in the face coming from a future alpha no less."
Turning to face Jacob.
"I understand you lost your control. We have been friends our whole lives and I have always seen you as family. I must live with the scars you have given me for the rest of my life. I am not here to pretend to know what goes on in your brain and frankly I do not care."
Taking a deep breath and looking in dead in the eyes.
"Jacob Black, I forgive you for attacking me. May the ancestors bless you with the gift once again so you can protect the tribe."
As I said that I felt myself get lightheaded and began speaking in a voice that wasn't mine and words they were forced out sounded mystical.
"The ways of the ancestors are never meant to be understood but to be respected. This is your first and final warning Jacob Black. Do not disappoint us again. Your other half is a gift you may choose not to accept it and the consequences will be great."
With that I heard yelling and welcome darkness again.
Gasping as I woke up, I see that I am in the twin's old room at the Blacks house. Slowly standing I make my way to the living room. Seeing Billy and Sam looking tense they both looked up at me as I walked in.
"How are you feeling please come and sit down. Sam, can you grab her a cup of water."
Settling on the couch I accepted the glass of water drinking it fast as I realized how thirsty I was.
"What happened I am really tired of passing out around you guys."
I croak out and wince as my side protests my movement.
"The elders heard your apology and granted Jacob back his gift with a cryptic warning. But that doesn't matter right now. We want to discuss you."
Billy said as I looked back and forth between them.
"I would like to have you fully registered with the tribe. I am assuming you have not told your father, so I called Charlie and let him know you knew. Of course, I couldn't explain why so I told him you found your mother diary as you were going through her things."
Nodding along with Billy I accepted that and filed it away. Looking up at Sam I watched as he wrung his hands together.
"As you know Joshua is my father. So that would make us cousins. I just wanted to let you know whatever happens with Jacob doesn't matter you will always have pack protection."
Seeing how nervous he was I just nodded my head and smiled.
"When can I go home. I rode up here with Quil I assumed that he would take me home."
"Quil is on patrol, but I will ring Embry to take you because I need to go to patrol as well. I just wanted to check that you were okay." As he left out, I sat in silence with Billy before remembering.
"Billy as I was in the limbo place Sarah wanted me to tell you that your snowflake was waiting for you."
Tears started to form in his eyes as he cleared his throat and thanked me.
Soon after Embry came rushing in out of breath.
"Ready to go Nicole sorry I am late had to sneak out."
Smirking as I nodded, he reached down and grabbed me carrying my bridal style to the car. Placing me carefully in the car he got in and started driving.
"I haven't got the chance to apologize to you"
Looking at him confused he interrupted me before I got a chance to say anything.
"Since I have shifted, I haven't been there for you. We have always been the closest out of the three. Jake and Quil have always been so outgoing, and we were just laughing with them in the background."
Hearing him say that brought back memories.
"Come on Jake Ill race you to the shore" Quil shouted shoving him playfully on the shoulder.
Laughing they both take off running. Smiling slightly, I slow down as an arm was placed on my shoulder. Glancing up I smile as I see Embry.
"Hey kiddo."
"First of all, you are only 5 months older than me. Secondly I can still beat you up so calm down."
Chuckling he ruffled my hair.
"I'm still taller, more handsome, and not to mention smarter." Laughing as I smacked him, we took off running after the others.
"Looks like Jake is flirting with your sister."
"Half-sister." I say annoyed while looking in the direction he gestured.
There was an enthusiastic Jake and a very uncomfortable Bella. He was happily telling her about what happened since last summer.
"When is he going to learn. Plus, why does he even like her, She a horrible person." Crossing my arms in anger I continue to stare at them.
Suddenly I felt cold water down my back. Screaming in surprise I turn and see Embry standing there with a smile and an empty glass.
"Catch me if you can" He laughed and took off running. Not bothering to look back at the trainwreck that was Jake and Bella I start chasing Embry and laughing.
"You messed with the wrong girl Call!"
"I heard your wicked half sister will no longer be joining us."
Smiling at Embry I nod.
"Apparently Queen Isabella hates the weather and refuses to come. Can't say I'm to torn up about it."
Laughing and dropping down into the seat next to me he throws his arm around my shoulders.
"So, Jake is off pouting because his unrequited love is no longer coming back. Quil is off with his flavor of the week, so it is just us buttercup."
"Let's prank call Jake and then have a movie marathon."
"Deal" We both chuckle
"How are we always the odd ones out?"
I ask Embry while laying upside down on his couch"
"Jake is gone with his dad visiting Rachel and Quil has a date. God knows how he manages to keep getting dates."
"Maybe its because unlike you two I have this thing called charm."
Embry scoffs as I roll my eyes at Quil's comment. We watch as he finishes getting ready and waves as he leaves.
"So, buttercup it's just me and you. Whatever will we do?"
I ask smiling up at Embry and finally sitting up right on the couch.
"Stalk Quil on his date and then get ice-cream"
"Exactly what I was thinking Em this is why you are my best friend."
Laughing as he blushed, I pinched his cheeks, and we were on our way.
"You alright?"
Shaking my head to clear my thoughts I nod.
"Yeah, I guess it was always me and you together when Jacob and Quil were busy."
Smiling at him I grab his hand and squeeze it.
"Thinking about it I really do miss you buttercup"
Laughing as he blushed, we pull up to my house and I see Embry tense up.
"What's wrong? Did you forget something?"
"I smell a vampire."
I tensed up as I looked out the window trying to see into the house.
