Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!

A/N: Sorry for the long update! And thank you for the review!

When Inuyasha took too long to tell his story, Kagome sighed and as she looked at the floor she whispered. "Why did you leave, Inuyasha?"

Inuyasha sighed. "You remember that trip that my father and I took?" He asked looking at Kagome.

Kagome looked up. "The one that took you almost a month in a half to return? Yes, I remember that."

Inuyasha cleared his throat. "Well, that was when we went to Spain and when my father told me that I was betrothed to a young human woman that lived in Spain." Inuyasha paused when he heard Kagome start to growl low in her throat. Gulping, he continued with his story. "I told him that I didn't want to get married to some stranger that I didn't know and that I was already in love with someone else." He said making Kagome stop growling and her eyes to grow wide at the look that Inuyasha was sending her way. "Father wouldn't hear of it, though, and forced me to spend time with her and be the perfect gentleman. When we returned, you were leaving. You looked so awful, all bruised up, covered in blood, though, I could smell that some of it wasn't yours and you were crying. I asked you if you what happened and if you were okay, but you didn't answer. You just said that you had to go and begged me to come with you, looking back now, I should have gone with you." Inuyasha let out a humorless chuckle.

"If you didn't want to marry her, why didn't you come with me? I begged you to come!" Kagome asked feeling more than a little hurt.

Inuyasha sighed and ran his claws through his hair. "It wasn't that simple back then."

"What wasn't simple about it? All you had to do was walk your ass onto the ship!" Kagome yelled.

"I had to stay!" Inuyasha roared starting to get really irritated that Kagome couldn't see why he had to stay at that moment, though, he never told her why he felt as if she should already know. He knew deep down that wasn't fair to her but right at this moment he didn't care.

"Why!?" Kagome roared right back at Inuyasha.

Sango Miroku and Shippo were sitting back watching the passed around conversation between the two captains with wide eyes. Moving their heads back and forth as the two yelled at each other as they were both curious as well to why Inuyasha felt he needed to stay and not go with Kagome.

Feeling fed with the whole conversation Inuyasha shot to his feet, growling. "Damn it, Kagome!"

"No!" Kagome shouted jumping to her feet growling as well. "You damn it, Inuyasha! Just be a fucking man and spit it out! Why wouldn't you leave with me!?"

"Because I wanted to take my place on my throne!" Inuyasha yelled as he threw his hands up in the air.

"What!?" Kagome screamed. "Your throne!? Oh, so now your throne is more important than me? I fucking needed you!"

"No!" Inuyasha shouted.

"Then, what was it!?" Kagome shouted back.

"It's just." Inuyasha's voice turned to a whisper and then he sighed. "It's just, the throne belonged to my mother. The tribe was my mother's tribe, not my father's." He said as he lost the strength it took to continue standing and fell back to the floor only slightly noticing as Kagome sank back to the floor as well. "My father was a traveler, but when he came to my mother's tribe and met her, he fell in love and the tribe welcomed him and his son to stay. When I turned five, as you know, my mother got very sick and passed away. The tribe looked towards my father as the new ruler of the tribe, and when he was to pass it would be my responsibility - since Sesshomaru wasn't blood - to rule the tribe. However, about a year in a half after you left, my father died and, even though I didn't want too, I started to prepare for my untimely marriage so I could take the throne as the rightful ruler. I sent a ship out to retrieve Kikyo the very same day, and she had a specific way she wanted everything done. It took a whole year for everything for the wedding to be done and to her satisfaction. By then, though, Sesshomaru had talked the tribe into allowing him instead of me to be the new ruler. Saying how a mere half-breed had no chance of protecting the village the way it needed to be protected and that he would make sure that everyone stayed safe. The tribe believed him and, even though he wasn't blood, gave the throne right over to him! So, I left on the day I was supposed to get married and take the throne. I took a rowboat and rowed to the next port over. Luckily, there was a pirate ship there that was willing to take me onboard."

"Oh, Inuyasha! I am so sorry you had to go through that!" Kagome whispered with tears in her eyes as she scooched forward and placed her hand on his cheek, caressing his face.

Inuyasha leaned further against Kagome's hand and brought his hand up to capture hers, keeping her hand against his cheek. "Kagome?" he whispered as he moved even closer placing his forehead against hers. "Why did you leave? Even after I begged you to stay, you still left - why?"

"Before I tell you my story, I want to know what you've heard about me from the general your father sent to look after the village while you were gone." Kagome said.

"Well, when we came back and after you left, he said that you lost control and murdered your entire tribe, along with some of his men, and when he tried to get involved to calm you down - you seriously injured him. He said before you could do any real damage, though, you passed out from the lack of blood and when you came too, you were set on leaving and nothing the general said could make you change your mind." Inuyasha explained.

"What!?" Kagome screamed as she jumped to her feet. "That lying sack of shit!" She yelled as she paced the room before turning to glare at Inuyasha. "How could you believe him!? Couldn't you smell that the prick wasn't telling the fucking truth!?"

"I didn't say that I believed him! The blood was overpowering! I couldn't get passed it to smell any other smells and, obviously, neither could my father or he would have said something!" Inuyasha reassured.

"What about his heartbeat!? You could've told by his heartbeat that he wasn't telling the truth!" Kagome argued.

"If he was lying then he was a really good liar, because his heartbeat didn't change indicating that he was lying, Kagome, tell me what happened." Inuyasha said.

"The moment you left, the general your dad sent for to protect the village turned on us the second he found out that I was a half demon. He said that he despised half demons, I bet your father didn't know that did he? He gave my pack the ultimatum to either kill me or suffer the consequences. He gave my pack till the day you and your dad returned to the village to make their decision. The day you were returning, it was clear to the general that my pack wasn't going to give him what he wanted so he attacked that morning. My pack fought with all their might to protect me, Inuyasha! He killed them all! They're dead because of me! I eventually lost control and attacked the general and his people he had with him and when I woke up, I was told by the entire village to leave because they believed in what the general told them and not what really happened! That's when you came back, I begged you to come with me, but you didn't. You begged me to stay, but I couldn't. You had a choice to become a pirate, I didn't - it was forced onto me! Two years later, much to my surprise, I saw you on a fucking pirate ship! You have no idea how much that tore at my fucking soul, Inuyasha! Especially since I didn't know why you wouldn't just come with me! I thought that you just didn't care about me as much as I thought you did. And that started our little game of cat and mouse, but I wanted more! I wanted to be on the same ship as you! I begged you to come with me and you turned me down, so whenever you asked me to come over to your side, I always turned you down - hoping that deep down you would feel like I did when you turned me down that day." Kagome paused for just a second. "Now, Inuyasha, who's telling the truth? Me or the fucking general?"

"Kagome." Inuyasha whispered.

"Who!" Kagome screamed back.

"You are!" Inuyasha said.

Kagome burst into tears. "I needed you Inuyasha. I know that your father forced you to go on that trip with him, but I still blamed you for not being there and I'm sorry for that."

Before Inuyasha could say anything to that, Kaede and Kikyo stood up from their sitting position. "Good, good. Now, phase one is complete." Kaede said as she went about to making a fresh pot of tea.

"Phase one? What do you mean?" Sango asked as Inuyasha gave Kagome a comforting hug.

"Yes." Kikyo answered for Kaede. "There are three phases to completely opening up your life force. You've completed phase one: Letting the Truth Come to Light. Phase two is coming to terms with your truths and letting the past go."
