Several C-9979 landing crafts now fully loaded with battle droids, Multi-Troop Transports, PACs, and Armored Assault Tanks made their way down to the planet of Naboo. They land in the Lianorm Swamp not far from the capital city of Theed and deploy their troops.
Devon hid inside one of the ships as it touches down on the planet's surface.
"Looks like this is my stop." Devon says
The ramp to the ship opens up and the MTTs slowly drive out into the landing zone, heading into the nearby forest, smashing through trees as they headed for the capital city of Theed.
Once all the transports were out, Devon quietly sneaks out and presses his back against the metal opening of the landing craft. He pokes his head out and looks left and right, checking the area. He saw two droids on Single Troop Aerial Platforms on his right heading his way and he quickly hides back inside the ship as they dart past. Once they were gone, he runs into the nearby tree line on his right, hiding behind one of the trees. Peeking around the side of the tree, Devon looks out at the massive force infront of him, relieved that none of the battle droids had spotted him. Looking up, he saw more landing craft descending down from space, deploying more of the Federation's troops onto the field. Then, he saw a commander battle droid standing out the hatch of an AAT, who was overlooking the operation. A hologram of Nute Gunray and Rune Haako appears on a holoprojector ontop of the tank as they contact the droid.
"Yes, Viceroy?" The command droid says
"Captain, we've searched the ship and there is no trace of the Jedi or the Keyblade Wielder. They may have gotten on one of your landing crafts." Haako says
"If they're down here sir, we'll find them." The command droid says
"Use caution. These Jedi and the Keyblade Wielder are not to be underestimated." Gunray warns
The holograms of the Viceroy and his lieutenant disappear as the transmission ends. Devon was able to make out some of the conversation he had heard and decided it was time to be moving on.
"I'd better find Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan." Devon says
Devon turns and run away from the landing site, heading into the forest of Naboo, beginning his adventure on the planet.
After getting far enough away from the landing site, Devon walks through the temperate swampland, using the brief moment of calm to take in the sights of the planet around him. The sound of the birds filled the air as they squawked and hooted with their voices. Devon looked up at the giant Cambylictus trees, taking note of how tall they were above him. Overall, Naboo appeared to be quite pleasant.
"This planet looks pretty so far. Looks like I'm in a swamp. I wonder if Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan made it down onto the planet same as me." Devon says
Suddenly, a group of dark creatures appeared infront of Devon in flashes of darkness.
"Huh?! What are these things?" Devon asks himself
The creatures standing before the Keyblade Wielder looked like animals. But given how they appeared infront of him, it wasn't likely that they were the native fauna of Naboo. These creatures were actually Dream Eaters of the Sleeping Worlds.
Meow Wows were plump Dream Eaters that resembled a cross between cat and dog. They had a point on their heads, dog-like muzzles, spots on it's sides, and pointy ears.
Hebby Repps were Dream Eaters that resembled a cross between snake and lizard, having a curved bodies, a spiked spine, multiple teeth, and a horn atop their heads.
"Only one way to deal with this." Devon says
Devon summons his Keyblade: Soul Calibur into his right-hand in a flash of blue light and gets into battle stance.
But before the fight could begin, two other creatures appeared next to Devon, standing by his side. These creatures were also Dream Eaters, but they were more friendly towards Devon, and had bright, vibrant colors compared to dark ones infront of them. One was a female Ryu Dragon, and the other was a male Tyranto Rex.
The Ryu Dragon had a medium-sized quadruped body with two bat-like wings on it's back, a triangular V-shaped head with yellow-green eyes and a beak-like mouth, three-clawed feet, and a thick, long tail, which had short flat fin-shaped spines going down it's length in a 'V' shape, and a pommel tip with six spikes surrounding it. Most of it's body was white while it's underbelly, wings, and two horns were light blue. Lining both sides of it's tail were three blue spots. The pommel-tip of the dragon's tail had two blue stripes on it's sides. And the thin spines on the tail were also light blue.
The Tyranto Rex overall had a large body, resembling a Tyrannosaurus Rex. It's white face had a large blue jaw filled with many teeth. Two large blue horn-like protrusions stick out from the top of it's head while the tips fade to purple. The Tyranto Rex had a white body with a turquoise streak going down it's sides from the top of it's neck down to the tip of it's tail and a blue underbelly. It's shoulders had two blue and purple ridges while it's legs had three ridges of the same color. The claws on it's hands and feet were turquoise and purple, which were white at the top and a dual fading color of light blue and turquoise at the bottom. On it's legs were four spots, going from light blue to turquoise. And it's large, long tail had blue and purple blade-like ridges.
"Whoa!" Devon exclaims in surprise
Devon looks at the creatures on his left and right. These were Spirit Dream Eaters, enemies of the Nightmares. With the Spirits standing by his side, Devon glances back at the group of Nightmares and gets back into battle stance.
Devon dashes forward at a Meow Wow and strikes it with an uppercut slash, knocking the Nightmare high up into the air. Then, he jumps up behind the Meow Wow and smacks it back down to the ground with an overhead strike. Landing back on the ground, Devon targets a Hebby Repp infront of him and slides forward at it with a spinning slash, cutting it down. Another Hebby Repp spun around and swung it's tail, launching multiple spines at Devon. Standing his ground, Devon holds his Keyblade out and deflects the spines away. He then jumps up into the air and dives down on the Nightmare with a downward thrust, creating a blue shockwave of light which spreads along the ground, destroying three other Hebby Repps in it's path.
The Ryu Dragon flaps it's wings and takes flight. Soaring above the Nightmares, the dragon shoots fireballs down on the Meow Wows and Hebby Repps, blasting them into oblivion. The dragon lands ontop of a Meow Wow, crushing the feeble dark creature under it's feet, and rams it's horns into three Hebby Repp, sending them flying through the air.
The Tyranto Rex charges at the Nightmares and goes on the attack. The large dinosaur grabs hold of a Meow Wow in it's jaws and clamps it's teeth down on the Nightmare, destroying it. Next, it stomps it's right-foot down another Meow Wow, crushing it to dust. Another Meow Wow bounces toward the Tyranto Rex, but it swats it away with it's tail, sending the Nightmare flying. Then, the Tyranto Rex lets out a loud roar, which blows away the last remaining Nightmares.
Soon, the fight was over and the swamp was peaceful again. Devon de-summons his Keyblade and turns to look at the Spirit Dream Eaters, who stood infront of him as if awaiting his command.
"Wow." Devon says in awe
Devon turns back around, looking over at the spot where the Nightmares were.
"What kind of creatures were those? They weren't Heartless. And they weren't Nobodies." Devon says
Devon places his right-hand on his chin and his left-hand in the pocket of his jeans as he looks back on his thoughts. He soon remembers something that the Inheritor told him at the start of his journey.
"Wait... Didn't the Inheritor mention creatures like these in the sleeping worlds?" Devon asks
(Flashback)
Prior to the start of his Mark of Mastery Exam, the Inheritor explains to Devon, Sora, and Riku about the Sleeping Keyholes and the Dream Eaters.
"If we are to strike down the Dark Lord of the Shadows, we need the individuals King Mickey spoke of in his letter. We must lead them out of sorrow and slumber, back into our world. To do so, the Sleeping Keyholes must be found and unlocked. In completing this task, the three of you will gain a great power. You may recall in the past that some worlds were brought back from the darkness, but there are some that have not yet returned completely. They still sleep, cut off from all outside channels. Not even the Heartless can enter. But these Sleeping Worlds are said to house their own manner of darkness." The Inheritor explains
An image of a Nightmare Meow Wow appears before the heroes.
"These creatures are called Dream Eaters, and there are two kinds. Nightmares, which devour happy dreams." The Inheritor explains
Then, a Spirit Meow Wow appears next to it's Nightmare counterpart.
"And benevolent Spirits, which consume the Nightmares. The Dream Eaters will guide you, just as the Heartless once guided you to the Keyhole you seek at the heart of each world." The Inheritor explains
(Present time)
"That's right. These creatures are Dream Eaters." Devon says
Devon looks over at where the Nightmares once were.
"The ones we just fought were Nightmares. They're the darkness of the Sleeping Worlds." Devon says
The Ryu Dragon walks over to Devon and nudges his right-side with it's head, catching his attention. Devon smiles and rubs his hands on the dragon's head while it nuzzles itself against his body, crooning in content. The Tyranto Rex lowers it's head down and gives off a gentle growl. Devon places his left-hand on the dinosaur's head and strokes it while the large Spirit purrs in content.
Suddenly, a loud rumbling fills the air, alerting Devon and the Spirits. It sounded like the MTTs were close by.
"I guess that means we need to keep moving." Devon says
Devon moves deeper into the swamp with his two Spirits following him, continuing his search for Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.
In another part of the swamp, a stampede of MTTs slowly move across the land, knocking trees over and making several creatures flee. Qui-Gon was among the native creatures, also fleeing from the MTTs. He then saw a Gungan named Jar Jar Binks standing out in the open, looking confused as to what was happening.
Jar Jar Binks was a male local native of Naboo. As a Gungan, he was a tall, bipedal, amphibious, humanoid creature with orange and white skin, yellow eyes, a long face with a tough, flexible bill and human-like teeth, long fin-like ears, two lanky arms with four-fingered hands, and two feet, which had three stubby toes each.
When Jar Jar saw the MTT transports heading his way, he panicked. Qui-Gon grabbed him and ducked down onto the ground. The MTTs hovered over Qui-Gon and Jar Jar, continuing their path of destruction through the swamp. Qui-Gon rose up while Jar Jar jumps up to feet. The Gungan looks over at the MTTs and stared at them.
"Was'n dat?" Jar Jar asks
Jar Jar then notices Qui-Gon walking away on his right.
"Hey, wait!" Jar Jar says
Jar Jar caught up with Qui-Gon and the two were walking together through the swamp.
"Oh, mooie-mooie! I love you!" Jar Jar says
"You almost got us killed. Are you brainless?" Qui-Gon says
"I spake." Jar Jar says
"The ability to speak does not make you intelligent. Now get out of here." Qui-Gon says calmly
"No, no. Mesa stay. Mesa called Jar Jar Binks. Mesa your humble servant."
"That won't be necessary." Qui-Gon says
"Oh, but it 'tis. 'Tis demanded by da gods, it 'tis." Jar Jar says
Qui-Gon and Jar Jar then notice Obi-Wan getting chased by three battle droids riding STAPs, who were trying to blast him.
"Oh no!" Jar Jar exclaims in panic
"Stay down!" Qui-Gon says
Jar Jar dives down onto the ground while Qui-Gon takes out his green lightsaber and ignites it, deflecting the blaster bolts back at one of the STAP, destroying it. The second STAP flies at the Jedi, firing it's blasters, but Qui-Gon deflects the red laser bolts back at the craft, destroying it and the droid onboard. The third STAP flies in and fire it's blasters. Qui-Gon stood his ground and deflects the bolts away with his lightsaber. But before the battle droid could reach the two Jedi and Gungan, Devon flies in on the back of his Ryu Dragon, sitting on the back of dragon's neck infront of the it's wings, rushing to their aid with his Tyranto Rex following on the ground. The Ryu Dragon shoots a fireball from it's mouth at the battle droid, blasting it to pieces.
"Qui-Gon! Obi-Wan!" Devon exclaims happily
Qui-Gon deactivates his lightsaber and smiles upon seeing Devon.
"Glad to see you made it, Devon." Qui-Gon says
Devon and the Ryu Dragon touches down infront of the two Jedi and Gungan. The Spirit lowers it's body, allowing Devon to dismount. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were surprised by the two Dream Eaters that stood with Devon as he approached them.
"What are these creatures? I've never seen any like them before?" Obi-Wan asks
Devon looks back over his left-shoulder at the Spirits behind him, then looks back at the two Jedi.
"Oh, these are Dream Eaters. I just discovered them a few moments ago. Apparently, there are two kinds of them. The ones behind me are called Spirits. But there are also dangerous ones called Nightmares. I was attacked by a group of Nightmares when I touched down on the planet. Fortunately for me, these Spirits appeared and helped me take them down. They're friendly compared to their dark counterparts." Devon says
"Dream Eaters?" Obi-Wan says feeling confused
"Devon, do you think the Federation could control these 'Nightmares'?" Qui-Gon asks
"Maybe, but I'm not sure. There could be more lurking about, so we need to be careful." Devon says
Jar Jar rises up to his feet and looks at Qui-Gon.
"You saved my again." Jar Jar says
Jar Jar turns to his right and saw Devon and Obi-Wan staring at him.
"Oh, hello." Jar Jar greets
"What's this?" Obi-Wan asks
"A local. Let's get out of here before more droids show up." Qui-Gon says
"Right." Devon says
Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and the two Dream Eaters move deeper into the swamp.
"More? 'More' did you spake?" Jar Jar asks
Jar Jar runs to catch up with the heroes.
"Ex-squeeze-me, but de mostest safest place would be Gunga City. Is where I grew up. 'Tis a hidden city." Jar Jar says
Devon, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan stop and look toward Jar Jar.
"A city?" Qui-Gon asks
"Uh-huh." Jar Jar says nodding his head
"Can you take us there?" Qui-Gon asks
"Uh... on second thought, no. Not really. No." Jar Jar says
"No?" Qui-Gon asks
"Why not?" Devon asks
"'Tis embarrassing, but, uh, my afraid my've been banished. My forgotten. Da bosses would do terrible tings to me. Terrible tings to me if mesa goen back dare." Jar Jar says
Suddenly, the four heard loud distant rumbling sounds in the swamp.
"You hear that?" Qui-Gon asks
"Yah?" Jar Jar says raising one of his ears
"That is the sound of a thousand terrible things heading this way." Qui-Gon says
"If they find us, they will crush us, grind us into tiny pieces and blast us into oblivion." Obi-Wan says
"Not to mention there are dark creatures prowling around. And I'm sure you don't want that either." Devon says
Jar Jar thought about it for a moment.
"Oh. Yousa point is well seen. This way. Hurry!" Jar Jar says
Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and the two Spirits followed Jar Jar as he led them in another direction through the swamp.
The heroes followed Jar Jar and eventually they come to a large lake in the swamp. This lake was known as Lake Paonga.
"How much further?" Qui-Gon asks
"Wesa going underwater, okieday? Ah, my warning you. Gungans no likin' outsiders, so don't spect a warm welcome." Jar Jar says
"Oh, don't worry. This hasn't been our best day for warm welcomes." Obi-Wan says
"You got that right." Devon says
Jar Jar stands by the lake's edge and spreads his arms out. He then jumps high into the air with a somersault
"Ar, ar, ar! Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh!" Jar Jar says
Jar Jar dives into the lake while Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan take out two A99 Aquata Breathers. Qui-Gon takes out another Aquata Breather for Devon. With these masks, the trio would be able to breathe underwater.
"Do you know how to use this?" Qui-Gon asks
"Don't worry. I'm a fast learner." Devon says
Qui-Gon nods and hands Devon the Aquata Breather. The trio put their Aquata Breather to their mouths and wade into Lake Paonga. Devon stops and looks back at the Ryu Dragon and the Tyranto Rex standing at the water's edge. The young teen nods his head and the Spirits disappear in flashes of light. He then turns around and wades further into the lake. Jar Jar pops his head back out of the water, looking back at the heroes.
"Yousa follow me now, okieday?" Jar Jar says
With that said, the four all dive down into the water. They swim deep into the lake and swim along an underwater cliff. When they swim over the cliff, they all saw the underwater City of Otoh Gunga, the largest Gungan city of Naboo.
The city of Otoh Gunga was anchored to the massive underwater cliff deep within Lake Paonga, and was a mass of golden hydrostatic bubbles which kept water out while allowing the Gungans to enter through them. There were satellite clusters outside of the city, including buildings which had been cast out from other Gungan settlements. While the Gungans could survive both on land and underwater, they chose to build their capital city under Lake Paonga to avoid contact with the Naboo Humans
The four swam to one of the hydrostatic bubbles and entered the city by passing through the bubble. The bubble dried off their clothes as they pass though the field. Once inside, the three humans removed their Aquata Breathers and were able to breathe again.
"So good bein home." Jar Jar says
They looked around and saw Gungans all around them going about their business. They walked into the city, but they didn't go very far as Captain Roos Tarpals riding a Kaadu.
Kaadu were large, flightless, two-legged reptavians that lived in the swamps of the planet Naboo. They were excellent runners and strong swimmers and were used by the Gungans as mounts.
"Hey, yousa! Stopa dare!" Tarpals says pointing his electro spear at the four
Roos Tarpals was a male Gungan who served as captain in the Gungan society of Otoh Gunga and one of the leaders in the Gungan Grand Army.
He had purple and white skin, orange eyes, and three whiskers on the tip of his bill.
"Heyo-dales, Cap'n Tarpals. Mesa back!" Jar Jar says
"Noah gain, Jar Jar. Yousa goen tada bosses. Yousa in big dudu dis time." Tarpals says
"Ohh. Ay, ay." Jar Jar whimpers
Two more Gungans riding Kaadus approached them. One of them poked their electro spears at Jar Jar in his right-shoulder, zapping him, which made him jump slightly and gasp in alarm.
"How wude." Jar Jar says
Devon, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were brought before Rugor Nass and the Gungan High Council. Jar Jar stood nearby with his hands cuffed and two guards standing behind him.
Rugor Nass also known as Boss Nass, was a male Ankura Gungan. He was the Boss of all the Otolla Gungans, of Otoh Gunga, and of the Gungan High Council. He was a proud ruler, and was the foremost Gungan of his time. He was respected by his peers, and was well known for his stubbornness. He held a bitter prejudice against the Naboo Humans. He was rarely diplomatic, but he was always honest. He would often make ticking noises when he was displeased with something. But whenever he agreed to terms regarding negotiations, he had a habit of shaking his head and blubbering.
As an Ankura Gungan, he had green skin, a stout build, a broad wide head, hooded eyes, short ears, and a short human-like bill.
"Tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk! Yousa cannot bees hair. Dis army of Mackineeks up dare is new weesong." Nass says
"A droid army is about to attack the Naboo. We must warn them." Qui-Gon says
"Wesa no like the Naboo. Tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk. Da Naboo tink day so smarty. Day tink day brains so big." Nass says
"Once those droids take control of the surface, they will take control of you." Obi-Wan says
"Mesa no tink so. Day not know of uss-en." Nass says
"You and the Naboo form a symbiont circle. What happens to one of you will affect the other. You must understand this." Obi-Wan says
"Wesa no carrre-nn about da Naboo." Nass says
"Then speed us on our way." Qui-Gon says waving his right-hand infront of him
"Wesa ganna speed yous away." Nass says in a trance-like voice
It was clear that Qui-Gon used a Jedi Mind Trick on the Gungan, though Devon didn't know.
"We could use a transport." Qui-Gon says
"Wesa give yousa una bongo. Da speediest way tooda Naboo 'tis going through... the planet core. Now... go." Nass says
"Thank you for your help. We leave in peace." Qui-Gon says as he, Devon, and Obi-Wan bow before Nass
The heroic trio turn and start walking away to leave the chamber.
"Master, what's a bongo?" Obi-Wan asks
"A transport, I hope." Qui-Gon says
The trio were about to head up the stairs of the room when Jar Jar stops them.
"Deysa setten yousa up. Goen through da planet core? Bad bombin'. Mmm... Any help here would be hot. Heh heh." Jar Jar says
The trio turn and look back toward Jar Jar.
"Master, we're short on time." Obi-Wan says
"We need a navigator to get us through the planet's core. This Gungan may be our help." Qui-Gon says
"Yeah. He can show us the way to the capital city. He knows what's down here in this lake. We would need his help." Devon says
Qui-Gon nods his head in agreement and walks back toward Boss Nass.
"What is to become of Jar Jar Binks here?" Qui-Gon asks
"Hisen to be pune-ished." Nass says
Boss Nass looks over at Jar Jar with an evil smile on his face while Jar Jar whimpers.
"Ohh..." Jar Jar whimpers
"I saved his life. He owes me what you call a 'life-debt'. Your gods demand that his life belongs to me now." Qui-Gon says
"Binkssssss, yousa havena liveplay with thisen hisun?" Nass asks
"Mm, uh-huh." Jar Jar says nodding his head
Boss Nass shakes his head and spits, making a loud blubbering noise.
"Begone wit 'im." Nass says
Qui-Gon bows again and the two Gungan guards that held Jar Jar free him from his cuffs.
"Count me outta dis one. Better dead here than dead in da core. Yee gods! Whata mesa sayin'?" Jar Jar says
Devon, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan head up the stairs of the room with Jar Jar now accompanying them on their journey. As they left, Devon couldn't help but notice how Qui-Gon waved his hand during the meeting with Boss Nass. He wondered if it was some sort of trick used by the Jedi.
The heroes were now inside a Tribubble Bongo ready to depart for the planet's core.
Bongos were hand-crafted Gungan vessels, built around a coral-like skeleton underwater. Bongos were in fact based on the creatures found underwater, and thus many of them resembled squids or other such animals. Bongos were equipped with an electrical power plant and a guidance system. The bongo's propulsion system was based on long tentacles at the aft of the vehicle, pushing the bongo forward.
Although the Bongo was only able to carry three passengers, Devon was able to fit himself into the cockpit, sitting next to Qui-Gon behind Obi-Wan was piloting the vessel and Jar Jar next to him in the passenger seat on his right. Devon and Qui-Gon sat behind them.
The Bongo launches out from the hydrostatic bubble and it swims with it's humming engines through the dark waters, heading down to the coral reefs at the bottom of the lakebed.
"Dis is nutsen. Oh, gooberfish!" Jar Jar says
"Why were you banished, Jar Jar?" Devon asks
"It's a longo tale-o, buta small part of it would be mesa... uh... clumsy." Jar Jar says
"You were banished because you were clumsy?" Obi-Wan says in confusion
"Yousa might'n be sayin that." Jar Jar says
As they traversed through the water, the heroes passed an Opee Sea Killer, yet they did not see it as it blended in with the rock outcropping on the lakebed.
The Opee Sea Killer was a large meat-eating crustaceous sea creature; a hybrid of crustacean and fish, that inhabited the watery planet core of Naboo. It was a predator often found clung to rocky outcroppings or hidden in caverns or under ledges awaiting its prey. When forced to move, the Opee was perfectly adapted to swim, in its own unusual way, sucking water into its mouth and jet propelling it from pores beneath armored plates at the rear of its body. This unique technique, coupled with it's three pairs of powerful legs and a pair of pectoral guidance fins, allowed the Opee to accelerate quickly underwater.
The Opee Sea Killer pursued the four as they proceeded into the planet's core while Jar Jar explains the reasons for his banishment.
"Mesa caused mabbe one, two-y lettle bitty axadentes, huh? Yud'say boom da gassar, den crashin' der boss' heybidder, den banished." Jar Jar says
When it got close enough, the Opee Sea Killer opens it's mouth and extended it's massive adhesive tongue toward the sub, catching it on it's right-side. Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Jar Jar felt the jump in the ship and they looked back and saw the Opee Sea Killer behind them.
"Wuh-oh!" Jar Jar exclaims
The sea creature retracted it's tongue and reels the sub in, catching it in it's jaws and sinking it's multi-rowed teeth into the hull of the underwater vessel.
"What is that?!" Devon asks
"Big gooberfish! Huge-o teeth!" Jar Jar exclaims
The Opee Sea Killer swam away with the sub in it's jaws. But it didn't get far as a large Sando Aqua Monster clamped its jaws around the Opee Sea Killer, causing it to release the Bongo from it's grip.
Sando Aqua Monsters had a long, sinewy body that was almost feline in appearance, with hind legs used for movement on the ocean floor and massive finned claws to propel it through the water. Lacking a layer of fat or blubber, it was poorly streamlined, and not fully adapted to swimming.
"There's always a bigger fish." Qui-Gon says
"Mesa tink we goen back now." Jar Jar says
The giant beast stood on its hind legs and cracked the fish in half, ripping off it's head while it feasted on it's body, giving Devon and the Jedi time to flee into an underwater cavern, heading deeper into the planet's core.
Above the planet, on the Trade Federation Battleship, Saa'ak, Nute Gunray and Rune Haako met with Darth Sidious and Lord Thanatos.
"The invasion is on schedule, my lords." Gunray says
"I have the senate bogged down in procedures. They will have no choice but to accept your control of the system." Sidious says
"The queen has great faith that the senate will side with her." Gunray says
"Queen Amidala is young and naïve. You will find controlling her will not be difficult." Sidious says
"Yes, my lord." Gunray says
The hologram of Darth Sidious and Lord Thanatos fade away and disappear.
"You didn't tell them about the missing Jedi and the Keyblade Wielder." Haako says
"No need to report that to them until we have something to report." Gunray says
Back down on Naboo, Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Jar Jar Binks were still in the Bongo traveling through the planet's core in the underwater caverns.
"Where wesa going?" Jar Jar asks
"Don't worry. The Force will guide us." Qui-Gon says
"Ohh, maxi big, da Force. Well dat smells stinkowiff." Jar Jar says
Suddenly, the lights in the Bongo began to flicker and there were beeping alarm noises going off.
"What's going on?" Devon asks
"We're losing power." Obi-Wan says
"Ohhh, no." Jar Jar whimpers.
The Bongo shuts down and comes to a stop, drifting in the water. Apparently, the earlier attack by the Opee Sea Killer had damaged the sub's power system.
"Wesa dyin' here!" Jar Jar sobs covering his eyes with his hands
"Just relax. We're not in trouble yet." Qui-Gon says
"What 'yet'?" Jar Jar says
Obi-Wan flips down a plate in the controls and began rewiring the Bongo.
"Monster out dare, leak'n in here, all sink'n and no power. Whena yousa tinkin wesa in trouble?" Jar Jar says
After a few seconds of hotwiring, the wires sparks to life as Obi-Wan manages to restore power to the sub.
"Power's back." Obi-Wan says
When the power comes back on, they look ahead of them and they saw a large, nightmarish Colo Claw Fish in the headlights of the sub.
The Colo Claw Fish was one of the largest and nightmarish creatures found in the depths of Naboo's seas. The body of the Colo was very long and flat, with two rows of bioluminescent nodules along either side, which were used to attract prey. The Colo had a large crocodile-like head with a long, sharp tooth-filled snout, and two eyes at the end of short stalks. Two large, mandible-like appendages extended from either side of its mouth.
"Whoa!" Devon exclaims in surprise
"Aah! Monster's back!" Jar Jar exclaims
Obi-Wan drives the sub away from the Colo Claw Fish which pursues them. Jar Jar was whimpering in a panic attack.
"Relax." Qui-Gon says
The Jedi Master places his right-hand on the Gungan's left-shoulder, using the Force to calm Jar Jar down and slip him into a brief moment of sleep.
"Ohh." Jar Jar sighs
"You overdid it." Obi-Wan says
As they fled from the Colo Claw Fish, another Sando Aqua Monster appears infront of them. Obi-Wan steers the sub over the large sea creature, going up and along it's back as it clamps it's jaws down on the Colo Claw Fish, giving Devon and the Jedi time to escape.
"Head for that outcropping." Qui-Gon says
Jar Jar slowly wakes up and shakes his head, still feeling dizzy.
"Oh, boy." Jar Jar says
Having escaped the sea creatures, they continued their way through the planet's core, heading down into another cavern.
Up on the surface, the Trade Federation Droid Army had now reached the capital city of Theed. The MTTs, AATs and SPATs invade the city, driving into the streets. Queen Amidala watches the invasion from a window in the throne room, seeing dozens of battle droids and AATs moving through the streets.
Elsewhere in the city, Gunray and Haako step off their shuttle where they are greeted by a droid commander.
"Viceroy, we have captured the queen." The droid commander says
"Ah, victory." Gunray says
Pleased with the success of the invasion, Gunray and Haako head into the city to meet with Queen Amidala.
Devon, the Jedi, and Jar Jar Binks finally make it out of the planet's core and reach the city of Theed just moments after the Trade Federation captured the city. They surface and emerge out of the water onto Solleu River.
"Mmm, dis'n loverly." Jar Jar says
The bubble of the cockpit dissolves, allowing Qui-Gon and Devon to step out and look around. Devon noticed that the city was eerily quiet, not hearing any voices in the city.
"Where is everyone? It's so quiet." Devon asks
"It's more than likely the Federation has already invaded the city. We need to move and find the queen." Qui-Gon says
"Right." Devon says
In the Royal Palace, Gunray, Haako and a droid squad was escorting Queen Amidala, Governor Sio Bibble, Captain Panaka, six of the queen's handmaidens and guards down the stairs of the palace.
Queen Amidala now wore a black robe and a black feathery head dress.
"How will you explain this invasion to the senate?" Sio Babble asks
"The queen and I will sign a treaty that will legitimize our occupation here. I have assurances it will be ratified by the senate." Gunray says
"I will not cooperate." Queen Amidala says defiantly
"Now, now, Your Highness. In time, the suffering of your people will persuade you to see our point of view." Gunray says
Once they reach the bottom of the stairs, the Viceroy turns to a droid commander on his right.
"Commander." Gunray says
"Yes, sir?" The droid commander says
"Process them." Gunray says
"Captain, take them to Camp 4." The droid commander orders
"Roger, roger." The security droid says
The droids take Queen Amidala, her handmaidens, Governor Sio Bibble, Captain Panaka and his guards out of the Royal Palace and into the city while Gunray and Haako watch them go.
The city of Theed was now turned into a POW camp with different droid squadrons leading groups of Naboo's people to their camps. Many citizens from the city were rounded up into detention camps and the streets were sealed off except for patrolling Federation forces.
Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Jar Jar enter the city and were crossing a small bridge. Underneath them, they could see the queen and her loyal subjects taken hostage by some battle droids heading towards them. They move into position and prepare themselves to ambush the droids.
When they got close enough, Devon, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan jump down and attack while Jar Jar follows them. The Gungan cautiously climbs down, but he lost his grip on the bridge and falls onto the ground.
Devon swings Soul Calibur at a battle droid on his right, slicing it in half across the torso. Another droid fires it's blaster rifle at him, but he deflects the shot back at the droid. He then turns to a third droid on his left and cuts it down with a reverse roundhouse slash.
Obi-Wan split kicks two battle droids, then slices another droid in half across it's torso. Qui-Gon strikes down a battle droid with a left-downward slash, then thrusts his right-hand forward at two battle droids, throwing them back using the Force.
Devon cuts off the head of a battle droid with a left slash while Obi-Wan cuts down the last remaining droid with a right slash.
With the battle droids defeated, Devon, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan deactivate their lightsabers while Devon de-summons his Keyblade. The heroes then look toward Queen Amidala and her subjects.
"We should leave the streets, Your Highness." Qui-Gon says
"Get their weapons." Panaka says
Panaka and his guards grab the blaster rifles from the destroyed droids, arming themselves while Jar Jar looks on in amazement.
"Whoa, yousa guys bombad." Jar Jar says
The group heads out of the street and hides in an abandoned alley out of sight.
"We're ambassadors for the supreme chancellor." Qui-Gon says
"Your negotiations seemed to have failed, Ambassador." Sio Bibble says
"The negotiations never took place. It's urgent that we make contact with the Republic." Qui-Gon says
"They've knocked out all of our communications." Panaka says
"Do you have any ships?" Devon asks
"In the main hangar. This way." Panaka says
Panaka leads the group into the twisting alleyways as they make for the main hangar bay.
Unfortunately, when they reach it, they find that the hangar was occupied by a large group of droids and that the Naboo air traffic controllers and several pilots were captured as hostages. They hide by the doors of the hangar, staying out of sight.
"There are too many of them." Panaka says
"It won't be a problem." Qui-Gon says
"Nothing we can't handle. Should be a synch." Devon says
Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Devon turn their attention toward Queen Amidala.
"Your Highness, under the circumstances, I suggest you come to Coruscant with us." Qui-Gon says
"Thank you, Ambassador, but my place is here with my people." Queen Amidala says
"They will kill you if you stay." Qui-Gon says
"They wouldn't dare." Sio Bibble says
"They need her to sign a treaty to make this invasion of theirs legal. They can't afford to kill her." Panaka says
"There is something else behind all this, Your Highness. There's no logic in the Federation's move here. My feelings tell me they will destroy you." Qui-Gon says
"Our only hope is for the senate to side with us. Senator Palpatine will need your help." Sio Bibble says
"Either choice resents great danger." Queen Amidala says
The queen looks back at her loyal handmaidens.
"To us all." Queen Amidala says
One of the handmaidens named Padmé speaks out for her queen.
"We are brave, Your Highness." Padmé says
"If you are to leave, Your Highness, it must be now." Qui-Gon says
"Then I will plead our case to the senate." Queen Amidala says
Queen Amidala looks toward Sio Babble.
"Careful, Governor." Queen Amidala says
With that said, Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka, the handmaidens, and the guards head into the main hangar while Governor Sio Babble stays behind.
"We'll need to free those pilots." Panaka says pointing toward a group of captured pilots on his left
"I'll deal with that." Obi-Wan says
Obi-Wan moves toward the pilots while Devon, Qui-Gon, Jar Jar, Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka, the handmaidens, and the guards continue moving forward. Then, a commander droid accompanied by several other battle droids stops them.
"Halt!" The droid commander says holding it's right-hand up in a stopping motion
"We're ambassadors for the supreme chancellor. We're taking these people to Coruscant." Qui-Gon says
"Where are you taking them?" The droid commander asks
"To Coruscant." Qui-Gon says
"Coruscant. Uh, that doesn't compute. Uh, wait, uh... You're under arrest." The droid commander says
In that moment, Qui-Gon whips out his lightsaber and cuts the commander droid in half. Devon summons his Keyblade: Soul Calibur and slices the other droids into pieces with a left and right slash. The Ryu Dragon and Tyranto Rex appears in the hangar and fought alongside the Keyblade Wielder and Jedi Master.
The Ryu Dragon rams it's head into a battle droid, then swings it's tail at another droid. A third droid shoots it's blaster rifle at the dragon, but the Spirit jumps to the right, grabs the droid by it's left-leg, swings it around, and throws it into two more droids, knocking them down. Then, the Ryu Dragon shoots a fireball, blasting the battle droids to pieces.
The Tyranto Rex stomps it's right-foot down on a droid, flattening it under it's heavy weight. Another battle droid manages to land one or two blaster bolts on the large dinosaur's body, but the Tyranto Rex was strong. It would take more than blaster bolts to take it down. The Tyranto Rex grabs the droid in it's jaws, shakes it around, and tosses it aside.
Obi-Wan jumps in and split kicks two battle droids. He then cuts through the battle droids holding the pilots hostage, making short work of them.
"Go!" Obi-Wan says
The pilots rise to their feet and flee the hangar.
While the heroes kept the battle droids busy, Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka, Jar Jar, the handmaidens, the guards, and a pilot named Ric Olié head onto a silver starship. This ship was the Queen's Starship, a J-type 327 Nubian Royal Starship. The ship was covered in chromium, formerly used to shield starships from radiation and some forms of laser attacks. Unfortunately, the ship had no weapons since it was designed as a peaceful ambassadorial ship and not a warship.
Devon, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan fight the battle droids slicing through them and deflecting blaster bolts back at them. The two Dream Eater Spirits attacked any droids that were near the ship, smashing the droids with their powerful strength. Soon, the battle droids were defeated.
But just when they thought they were in the clear, a group of Nightmare Dream Eaters appear in the hangar. These were Komory Bats, Kooma Pandas, and KO Kabutos.
Komory Bats were bat-like Dream Eaters that had small bodies, a furry head, large, frilled ears, tiny eyes, two small fangs and clawed feet, and two large, thin wings.
Kooma Pandas were rotund bear-like Dream Eaters that had large bodies, sharp claws, and stubby legs with flat stubby feet.
KO Kabutos were Dream Eaters that resembled rhino beetles, having a giant cannon for a nose, four legs, and two arms.
"Dream Eaters!" Devon exclaims
The Ryu Dragon and Tyranto Rex move next to Devon and stand by his side. Qui-gon and Obi-wan look towards Devon and the Spirits while he looks back at them.
"Get the ship ready for take-off! Protect the queen! I've got this!" Devon says
Qui-Gon nods his head and both he and Obi-Wan board the ship while Devon and his Spirits fight the Nightmares.
Devon dashes forward at a Kooma Panda and strikes it's belly with a right slash. He follows up with a downward slash, a thrusting strike, and a reverse roundhouse slash, casting down the Nightmare. Another Kooma Panda swipes it's right-claw at Devon, but he ducks down and counters with an uppercut slash, knocking it into the air. As it falls, Devon strikes the Nightmare with a right-slash, swinging Soul Calibur with both hands, destroying the dark creature. A third Kooma Panda jumps up into the air and falls towards Devon, attacking him with it's large belly in an attempt to body slam him into the ground. The young teen jumps back as the Nightmare slams into the ground, leaps up into the air with a sideways flip, and dives down on the Kooma Panda with a downward thrust, stabbing Soul Calibur into it's back.
The Ryu Dragon leaps up and grabs a Komory Bat in it's mouth. It shook the bat-like creature around and tosses it aside. Another Komory Bat flaps it's wings, launching a dark blue blade of air at the Ryu Dragon. The Spirit leaps out of the way and counters the attack with a fireball, blasting the Nightmare into oblivion. Then, the Ryu Dragon flaps it's wings, flies up to four other Komory Bats, and unleashes a stream of fire from left to right, engulfing the dark creatures in flames.
The Tyranto Rex charges at a KO Kabuto and grabs the Nightmare in it's jaws. The large dinosaur shakes the bug-like creature around and eventually tosses it into two more of it's kind. One KO Kabuto rushes the Tyranto Rex with a charging attack, but the Spirit smacks it away with a strong swipe of it's tail. The Tyranto Rex rams it's head into one KO Kabuto, then swings it's tail at another one, sending both dark creatures flying.
Devon swings Soul Calibur left at a KO Kabuto, right at another, then cuts through a third one with a downward slash. The young teen finishes off the last remaining Nightmare with two spinning slashes and a strong overhead strike, slamming his crystal Keyblade down a Kooma Panda.
Once all the Dream Eaters were taken care of, Devon joined the group aboard the ship while the two Spirits disappear.
The pilot who joined the group, Ric Olié was a human male starfighter and starship pilot who served in the Royal Naboo Security Forces alongside Captain Panaka. He was the commander of the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps, the leader of Echo Flight, Alpha Flight, and Bravo Squadron, and Queen Amidala's personal pilot.
With the group safely aboard the ship, Ric Olié starts up the ship and flies the ship out of the hangar and into the atmosphere.
As the ship flies into space, Obi-Wan brought Jar Jar into the droid dold.
"Now, stay here. And keep out of trouble." Obi-Wan says
Having said that, Obi-Wan heads into the lift to join Devon and Qui-Gon, who were on the main deck inside the cockpit with Ric Olié and Captain Panaka. As Obi-Wan left him, Jar Jar turns his attention to the five astromech droids stationed in the room with him. These droids were designated as thus: G8-R3, R2-B1, R2-R9, R2-N3, and R2-D2.
G8-R3 was an astromech droid that had the head of an R5-unit on the body of an R2-unit. His colors were orange and white.
R2-B1 was an R2 series astromech droid who's colors were blue and yellow.
R2-R9 was an R2 series astromech droid who's colors were red and white.
R2-N3 was an R2 series astromech droid who's colors were green and white.
R2-D2 was an R2 series astromech droid who's colors were blue and white.
Each of the droids were currently switched off until Jar Jar greets them.
"Hello, boyos." Jar Jar says
All the droids switch on and look toward Jar Jar, whistling and beeping in response to his voice.
The group were now in space, leaving the Naboo system. The five humans then saw the Trade Federation blockade up ahead.
"There's the blockade." Olié says
All the Trade Federation battleships began firing at the starship with their quadlasers as it took evasive maneuvers. A stray blaster bolt hits the ship's deflector shield generator on the starboard side, blasting off it's cover. In the cockpit, the alarm blares on the display.
"Shield generator's been hit!" Olié exclaims
In the droid hold, the alarm blares and the droids are deployed one-by-one to the nearby lift tube to the outer hull. R2 bumps into Jar Jar from behind, causing him to jump slightly.
"How wude!" Jar Jar says
R2 was the last droid out as it rolls toward the lift tube. The droid enters the tube and was lifted up to the hull. Once they were all up on the hull, the droids headed to the damaged shield generator and began making repairs, braving the vacuum of space and blaster fire. But unfortunately, they were working unprotected with the blaster bolts being fired by the battleships. Within moments, R2-N3 is blasted off the ship first by a stray bolt. Then, R2-B1 was blasted off.
Inside the cockpit, Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Ric Olié, and Captain Panaka saw the droids getting blasted off the ship through a camera that was outside on the hull.
"We're losing droids fast." Obi-Wan says
"If we can't get the shield generators fixed, we'll be sitting ducks." Panaka says
R2-R9 was blasted off the ship and then G8-R3 was blasted off, leaving R2-D2 alone to repair the shield generator.
"The shields are gone." Olié says
Being the last surviving droid on the ship, R2-D2 braves the danger and continues to repair the shield generator. He bypasses the main power drive and brought the deflector shields back online.
In the cockpit, the shields appeared green on the display.
"Power's back! That little droid did it. He bypassed the main power drive. Deflector shields up at maximum." Olié says
Now that the shield generator was repaired, the ship manages to bypass the blockade and head out into the vastness of space. Having completed it's task, R2 returns back to the hatch and inside the ship.
Inside the cockpit, Ric Olié notices that the hyperdrive also sustained damaged.
"There's not enough power to get us to Coruscant. The hyperdrive is leaking." Olié says
"We'll have to land somewhere to refuel and repair the ship." Qui-Gon says
"But the question is where? What's the closet planet?" Devon asks
Obi-Wan points to the nearby Navicomputer on the ship's controls, showing it to Devon and Qui-gon.
"Here. Tatooine. It's small, out of the way, poor. The Trade Federation have no presence there." Obi-Wan says
"How can you be sure?" Panaka asks
"Who controls the planet?" Devon asks
"It's controlled by the Hutts." Qui-Gon says
"Who are the Hutts?" Devon asks
"You can't take Her Royal Highness there! The Hutts are gangsters. If the discover her-" Panaka says
"It'd be no different if we landed on a system controlled by the Federation. Except that the Hutts aren't looking for her." Qui-Gon says
"Which gives us the advantage." Devon says
Back at the blockade, on the Trade Federation battleship, Saa'ak, Nute Gunray and Rune Haako were contacted by Darth Sidious and Lord Thanatos via holocall. The two Neimoidians sat in a conference room within the flagship with Darth Sidious and Lord Thanatos' holograms standing across from them at the other side of the table near the windows of the room.
"And Queen Amidala, has she signed the treaty?" Sidious asks
"She has disappeared, my lords. One Naboo cruiser got past the blockade." Gunray says
"UNDOUBTEDLY, IT WAS THE QUEEN. SHE ESCAPED WITH THE AID OF THE JEDI AND THE KEYBLADE WIELDER, BOTH OF WHOM YOU FAILED TO MENTION HAD SLIPPED THROUGH YOUR GRASP. MORE THAN LIKELY SHE WILL PLEAD THE GALACTIC SENATE TO SEEK AID FOR THE INVASION OF HER PLANET. THIS DOES NOT BODE WELL FOR YOU, VICEROY." Lord Thanatos says
Darth Sidious snarls.
"I want that treaty signed." Sidious says
"OTHERWISE, YOU WILL BE NO FURTHER USE TO US." Lord Thanatos says
"My lords, i-it's impossible to locate the ship. It's out of our range." Gunray says
"Not for a Sith." Sidious says
"OR A DARK KEYBLADE WIELDER." Lord Thanatos says
Two more holograms appear standing behind Darth Sidious and Lord Thanatos. One was Sith Warrior while the other was an armored figure.
"This is my apprentice, Darth Maul." Sidious says
"AND THIS IS MY APPRENTICE, LORD DRAZOR." Lord Thanatos says
The Sith Warrior and the Dark Keyblade Wielder stood with their masters.
"They will find your lost ship." Sidious says
With that said, the holograms of the villains fade away and disappear. Gunray and Haako share worried glances with each other.
"This is getting out of hand. Now there are four of them." Gunray says
"We should not have made this bargain." Haako says
Author's Note: Here's another great chapter for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace! Devon accompanying Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi now meets Jar Jar Binks. Adding Jar Jar to the party, they travel to the City of Theed on Naboo where they meet and rescue Queen Amidala and her loyal subjects. He even meets everybody's favorite droid: R2-D2! Now, they have escaped Naboo and are on their way to Tatooine. And guess who's on their trail: the infamous Darth Maul and Lord Drazor, the Dark Knight! I don't know about you guys, but I like what I'm seeing! I bet you guys can't wait for the next chapter. Another note, I have changed Devon's clothing and appearance for the Dream Drop Distance storyline, as well as gone back to the beginning chapter to add in Devon, Sora, and Riku's battle against Ursula for the start of their exam if anyone would like to look into that. I also changed Devon's clothing a little bit in Kingdom Hearts: World Conquest in the prologue of Dive Into The Heart. Let me know what you guys think. No flames please.
