Having won the race and the parts to the hyperdrive generator thanks to Anakin, the party returned to the Queen Amidala's ship on the outskirts with the parts required to repair the ship. Devon and Qui-Gon were riding two Eopies, ready to head back to Mos Espa.
"Well, we've got all the essential parts we need. We're going back. We've got some unfinished business. It won't be long." Qui-Gon says
"Why do I sense that we've picked up another pathetic life form?" Obi-Wan says
"It's the boy who's responsible for getting us these parts. Get this hyperdrive generator installed." Qui-Gon says
"Yes, Master. It shouldn't take long." Obi-Wan says
Devon and Qui-gon head back to Mos Espa riding their Eopies.
The young Keyblade Wielder and Jedi Master meet up with Anakin and walk with him back to his home. After using what profits needed to repair the queen's ship, Qui-Gon gave the rest to Anakin.
"Here. These are yours." Qui-Gon says handing Anakin the credits
"Yes!" Anakin exclaims happily
The trio soon reaches Anakin's home and the little boy rushes inside to his mother, who was sitting at a table.
"Mom! We sold the pod. Look at all the money we made." Anakin says showing the credits to Shmi
"My goodness! That's so wonderful, Ani!" Shmi says
"And he has been freed." Qui-Gon says
Anakin quickly turns around to face Qui-Gon. He was surprised by what he heard. Even Shmi was surprised as she looked up at the Jedi Master.
"What?!" Anakin says surprised
"Surprise!" Devon says happily with a smile spreading his arms and hands out in gesture
"You're no longer a slave." Qui-Gon says smiling
"We visited Watto's shop to deactivate the transmitter in your body." Devon says
Anakin turns and looks at his mother.
"Did you hear that?" Anakin says
"Now you can make your dreams come true, Anakin. You're free." Shmi says
Shmi smiles, then looks toward Qui-Gon and Devon.
"Will you take him? Is he to be a Jedi?" Shmi asks
Qui-Gon nods his head.
"Yes. Our meeting was not a coincidence. Nothing happens by accident." Qui-Gon says
"Qui-Gon's right. I believe it was destiny that we were fated to meet." Devon says
"You mean I get to come with you on your starship?" Anakin asks stunned
Qui-Gon kneels down to Anakin's level.
"Anakin, training to become a Jedi is not an easy challenge." Qui-Gon says
"Neither is becoming a Keyblade Master. Even I'm still in training and I've only just begun." Devon says
"And even if you succeed, it's a hard life." Qui-Gon says
"But I wanna go. It's what I've always dreamed of doing." Anakin says
Anakin looks back toward his mother.
"Can I go, mom?" Anakin asks
"Anakin, this path has been placed before you. The choice is yours alone." Shmi says
Without a second thought, Anakin made his decision.
"I wanna do it." Anakin says
"Then pack your things. We haven't much time." Qui-Gon says
"Yippee!" Anakin says excited
Anakin was about to run off toward his room to get his things, but he stopped as he remembered something. He was free, but what of his mother, Shmi?
"What about mom? Is she free, too?" Anakin asks
"I tried to free your mother, Ani, but Watto wouldn't have it." Qui-Gon says
"You're coming with us, aren't you, mom?" Anakin asks walking toward his mother
Shmi kneels down to her son and places her hands on his arms.
"Son, my place is here. My future is here. It is time for you to let go." Shmi says
"I don't want things to change." Anakin says
"But you can't stop the change. Anymore than you can stop the suns from setting." Shmi says
Anakin and Shmi hug each other.
"I love you. Now, go, Ani. Hurry." Shmi says
Anakin runs off to his room to get his things while Shmi turns to Qui-Gon and Devon.
"Thank you." Shmi says
"We'll watch over him." Qui-Gon says
"You have our word." Devon says
The trio then look off into the hallway that Anakin went to head for his room. Devon and Qui-Gon couldn't help but feel sorry for Anakin. Although he had been freed, his mother was still bound in servitude to Watto. Qui-Gon wished there was more he could do to help free Anakin's mother, but what's done was done.
"Will you be alright?" Qui-Gon asks placing his right-hand on Shmi's right-shoulder
Shmi looks back at the Jedi, but kindly smiles and looks back at the hallway.
"Yeah." Shmi says
In his room, while packing his bag, Anakin switches C-3PO on, who had been shut off.
"Oh! Oh, oh my! Oh! Hello, Master Anakin." C-3PO says
"Well, 3PO, I've been freed, and I'm going away on a starship." Anakin says
"Master Anakin, you are my maker and I wish you well. However, I should prefer it if I were a little more completed." C-3PO says
Anakin packs more of his things as he speaks to the humanoid droid.
"I'm sorry I was unable to finish you, 3PO. Give you coverings and all. I'm gonna miss working on you. You've been a great pal. I'll make sure mom doesn't sell you or anything." Anakin says
"Sell me?" C-3PO says surprised
With his bag packed up and ready, Anakin slings his bag over his right-shoulder and heads out of the room.
"Bye." Anakin says waving his left-hand good-bye to C-3PO
"Oh, my." C-3PO says
Devon, Qui-Gon and Anakin were now on their way out. Shmi watched them from the door to her home as they walked away. Anakin couldn't help but look back toward his mother. He was leaving her behind. Devon and Qui-Gon stopped and glanced back at Anakin, noticing that the young boy had stopped. Anakin ran back to his mother and hugged her.
"I can't do it, Mom. I just can't do it." Anakin says
"Ani." Shmi says
"Will I ever see you again?" Anakin asks
"What does your heart tell you?" Shmi asks
"I hope so... Yes... I guess." Anakin says
"Then we will see each other again." Shmi says smiling
"I will come back and free you, Mom. I promise." Anakin says
Shmi places her left-hand on Anakin's cheek.
"Now, be brave, and don't look back. Don't look back." Shmi says
Anakin walks back toward Devon and Qui-Gon. Anakin and Qui-Gon looked away while Devon continued looking toward Shmi. When he looked at Shmi, he saw her as an image of his own mother, Shara, smiling at him. He quickly joined back with Qui-Gon and Anakin as they walked down the street.
The trio walked through the streets of Mos Espa, passing by the local citizens and aliens. It was a bit of a walk through the city as it was quite a distance to the outskirts from Anakin's neighborhood. As they continued heading for the edge of the spaceport, Qui-Gon sensed that something was amiss. It felt as though they were being followed by someone or something. The Jedi Master kept walking with Devon and Anakin through the streets while he secretly reached for his lightsaber on the right-side of his belt.
Without warning, Qui-Gon quickly spun around and ignites his lightsaber, surprising Devon and Anakin, as well as the people around them. The Jedi Master destroys a black droid that was hovering behind the trio, slicing it horizontally in half. The droid falls to the sand with scorch marks from Qui-Gon's lightsaber still burning on both sides of it's body. Qui-Gon switches off his lightsaber and kneels down to examine the destroyed droid with Devon and Anakin, who also kneel down to see the droid. Upon closer inspection, the droid was revealed to be one of Darth Maul's DRK-1 Probe Droid, which had been following them ever since they left Anakin's home.
"Qui-Gon? What is it?" Devon asks concerned
"A probe droid. Strange... I've never seen one of this design." Qui-Gon says
"A probe droid?" Devon asks
"They're droids which are usually used by mining companies to scout for precious minerals. But there are some that are used by bounty hunters and assassins as scouts." Qui-Gon explains
The trio rise back up onto their feet now fairly alarmed.
"I get the feeling we're being hunted." Devon says
"You're feelings prove to be right, Devon. We are no longer safe here. We must hurry back to the ship and leave this planet quickly." Qui-Gon says
"Right." Devon says
But before they could get moving, a group of Nightmare Dream Eaters appear before the heroes. These Dream Eaters were Meow Wows, Toximanders, Skelterwilds, and Staggerceps.
Toximanders were salamander-like Dream Eaters that had four feet with spiked toes. The ends of it's tail and tongue were heart-shaped.
Skelterwilds were skeletal Dream Eaters that had the body and head of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus plate ridges along it's head, neck, tail, and shoulders, and a spikey Ankylosaurus club at the end of it's tail.
Staggerceps were Dream Eaters that resembled stag beetles, having four legs, two bulky arms with crab-like claws, and large pincers on it's head.
The humans and aliens in the street quickly fled the area, screaming in fright, while Devon, Qui-Gon, and Anakin stood their ground.
"Whoa! What are those things!" Anakin exclaims in amazement and surprise
"Dream Eaters!" Devon exclaims
Devon summons Soul Calibur into his right-hand in a flash of blue light and moves up to fight the dark creatures with his Spirit Ryu Dragon and Tyranto Rex appearing next to him.
"Qui-Gon, watch over Anakin! I'll take care of this!" Devon says
The Jedi Master nods his head in understanding and moves away with Anakin while Devon and his two Spirits dealt with the Nightmares.
Devon dashes forward at a Staggerceps and strikes it with a downward slash. He follows up with an uppercut slash, two spinning slashes, and an overhead strike, which destroys the Nightmare. Another Staggerceps charges at Devon, but he knocks the bug-like Dream Eater back with a right kick to it's chest. The Staggerceps snaps it's large pincers at Devon, who ducks down in dodging the first bite, leans over to the left avoiding the second bite, then leans back to dodge the third bite and counters the attack with an uppercut slash, defeating the Dream Eater.
Targeting the next few Nightmares in his view ahead of him, Devon flies forward and thrusts Soul Calibur into a Toximander, spinning into it like a drill, then he leaps up over a Toximander, who swung it's tail at him, and dives down on the Nightmare with a powerful overhead slash, slamming his crystal Keyblade down and generating a shockwave of blue electricity and light, which destroys three other Toximanders around him.
The Ryu Dragon curls itself into a ball by biting it's own tail and rolls through five Meow Wows like a flaming wheel, sending them flying. Jumping back to it's feet, the Ryu Dragon shoots a fireball from it's mouth at two other Meow Wows. Then, the Spirit dragon spins around, swinging it's tail at a Staggerceps, knocking it away. Another Staggerceps charged at the Ryu Dragon, but it jumps up and performs a somersault, slamming the Nightmare down into the ground with it's tail.
The Tyranto Rex and a Skelterwild face-off against each other, roaring loudly. During the stand off, the Spirit unleashes a stream of flames from it's mouth while the Nightmare spews a stream of ice in a counterattack. Both fire and ice breaths clash and cancel each other out. The Tyranto Rex and Skelterwild charge forward and they soon smash into each other. One large dinosaur pushing against the other, contending their powerful strength. The clash soon ended when the Skelterwild swings it's club-like tail into the Tyranto Rex's left-side. The large Spirit staggers back a bit from the strong blow, but immediately retaliates against the Nightmare, smashing it's body against it. The Tyranto Rex soon manages to grab hold of the Skelterwild's bony tail with it's jaws. From there, the large dinosaur spins around and throws the skeletal creature away, knocking it down on it's right-side. The Tyranto Rex moves toward the Skelterwild and stomps it's left-foot down on it's side, crushing it's ribcage, then it bites down onto the Nightmare's neck with it's jaws. With it's incredible strength, the Tyranto Rex breaks off the Skelterwild's head from it's body, finishing it off.
Devon whirls forward at two Meow Wows with a right spinning slash, cutting through them both. A Staggerceps snaps it's claws at Devon, but he jumps back, leaps up into the air, and thrusts Soul Calibur down on the dark creature. As Devon rises up to his feet, a Toximander shoots it's long tongue at him. He quickly leans over to the left, dodging the tongue, then leans over to the right, dodging it again. The Toximander stretches it's tongue at Devon again, but this time he catches it with his left-hand. Pulling the Nightmare over to him, Devon swings Soul Calibur at the dark creature, knocking it over onto it's back, then he finishes it off with an overhead strike.
Looking over at the few remaining Nightmares, which were four Meow Wows, one Toximander, and two Staggerceps, Devon holds Soul Calibur out infront of him and begins charging up with pure light. Once he was fully charged, he holds up over his head, summoning a large meteor from the sky to crash down on the Nightmares, crushing them into oblivion, thus finishing the fight.
With the Nightmares defeated, Devon de-summons his crystal Keyblade and his Spirit Dream Eaters disappear. The young teen looks back at the Jedi Master and smaller boy.
"Come on! Let's go!" Devon says
Moving quickly, Devon, Qui-Gon, and Anakin head for the outskirts, leaving Mos Espa in their haste.
Darth Maul and Lord Drazor stood in the outskirts, awaiting the reports from the probe droids. With them was a Nightmare Ryu Dragon, who Lord Drazor had summoned as a means of transportation, while Maul had his speeder nearby. One of the DRK-1 probe droids they dispatched returned to them. The probe droid speaks to them in it's Sisrai droid language, saying that Devon, Anakin, and Qui-Gon were heading back to their ship.
Lord Drazor mounts the Nightmare Ryu Dragon while Darth Maul mounts his speeder, Bloodfin. With both villains on their mounts, they set off to capture Queen Amidala and Devon and kill the Jedi.
Further out in the outskirts, Devon, Anakin and Qui-Gon were nearly at the queen's starship as the silver transport awaited their arrival merely a few yards away. It had already been a long run from Mos Espa and Anakin was getting tired.
"Qui-Gon, Devon, wait! I'm tired!" Anakin says
Qui-Gon suddenly sensed something was wrong, causing him to stop. Devon noticed this and looks over at the Jedi Master on his left. They both turn around and saw Darth Maul and Lord Drazor bearing down on them with the Sith Lord heading straight for Anakin.
"Anakin! Behind you!" Devon exclaims
"Anakin! Drop!" Qui-Gon exclaims
Anakin drops to the ground and narrowly avoids being skewered by Maul's speeder. As they closed in on Devon and Qui-Gon, Maul leaps off his speeder with a somersault and Lord Drazor leaps off his Nightmare Ryu Dragon, also with a somersault. The two villains drawed their weapons and attacked the two heroes before their feet even touched the ground with Maul igniting his red lightsaber, while Lord Drazor summons his Dark Keyblade: Fear's Shadow into his right-hand. Devon summons his Keyblade: Soul Calibur into his right-hand, while Qui-Gon draws and ignites his green lightsaber. The two heroes barely managed to block the quick attacks from the two villains.
"Go!" Qui-Gon commands
Maul swings his lightsaber at Qui-gon with an overhand slash, but the Jedi Master blocks the attack and counters with a downward slash, only for his blow to be blocked by Maul's lightsaber.
Lord Drazor swings Fear's Shadow left and right at Devon, who leans back and parries the blows with Soul Calibur, causing their Keyblades to clash with loud clangs. Devon strikes back at Lord Drazor with an uppercut slash, only to miss as the Dark Knight leans his body to the left. Then, he swings Soul Calibur with a downward slash at Lord Drazor, who holds Fear's Shadow horizontally in defense, blocking against the strike.
"Tell them to take off!" Qui-Gon commands
Anakin raced for the queen's starship while Devon and Qui-Gon held their ground against Darth Maul and Lord Drazor in a brief, but fierce skirmish. The two dark warriors lashed out at the Keyblade Wielder and Jedi Master with terrifying agility and ferocity, attacking aggressively with their blows fueled by anger and fury, channeling both the darkness and the Force with their movements.
Maul swings his red lightsaber at Qui-Gon with a right slash, a left-sweep at his legs, and spins around with a right-downward slash. Qui-Gon held his lightsaber opposite of Maul's in defending against the quick, offensive blows of the Sith Warrior as he advanced toward him. Maul continues his unrelenting assault on the Jedi Master with a downward slash, a reverse roundhouse slash, a right-uppercut slash, and a left slash. Qui-Gon blocked the first two strikes, leaned over to the right, dodging the third strike, then leapt over the Sith Warrior with a somersault as he swung his red lightsaber at him. Qui-Gon turns around to launch his own offensive at Maul with a right slash, but he quickly spins around and blocks his green lightsaber.
Lord Drazor thrusts Fear's Shadow at Devon, but he knocks it away with a right swing from Soul Calibur. Devon tries to fight back by swinging his crystal Keyblade with a left slash, a downward slash, and a reverse roundhouse slash, but the Dark Knight effortlessly blocks the attacks with his Dark Keyblade, spinning it around into a reverse grip in his right-hand. Switching Fear's Shadow back into his normal grip, Lord Drazor swings his Dark Keyblade with five uppercut slashes and three spinning slashes while Devon leans his body left, right, and back in evading the quick strikes. Advancing towards the young teen, Lord Drazor raises his Dark Keyblade over his right-shoulder with both hands and comes at Devon with seven downward slashes, driving him back as he parried against the blows. Then, the Dark Knight jumps up into the air, and comes down towards Devon with a powerful overhead strike, holding Fear's Shadow with both hands. Devon jumps away just as Lord Drazor slams his Dark Keyblade into the ground, kicking up a cloud of sand and dust.
Despite their valiant efforts in the intense battle, Devon and Qui-Gon were both getting overwhelmed by the frenzy of attacks from both the Sith Warrior and the Dark Keyblade Wielder. They could not find an opening in their opponent's movements and sufficiently counter-attack. Whoever these dark warriors were, they were undoubtedly very skilled with their weapons. But the young teen and Jedi Master were just as skilled as they kept up their defense against the deadly duo.
While the fight between them continued, Anakin reaches the ship and inform the crew of what was going on. Obi-Wan, Captain Panaka, Anakin rush to the cockpit of the ship.
"Qui-Gon and Devon are in trouble." Panaka says
"Take us up." Obi-Wan says
Obi-Wan then notices Devon and Qui-Gon fighting Darth Maul and Lord Drazor.
"Over there. Fly low." Obi-Wan says pointing with his right-finger
The queen's ship takes off and retracts it's landing gear, flying low above the ground.
As Devon and Qui-Gon blocked against a blow from Maul and Lord Drazor, they notice the ship approaching them. Acting quickly, Qui-Gon thrusts his left-palm at the two dark warriors, launching them far enough away with a strong telekinetic blast using the Force. Having managed to hold off long enough against Darth Maul and Lord Drazor, Devon and Qui-Gon disengage from the fight, jump aboard, and head inside just as the hatch closes and the silver starship speeds off into space.
Lord Drazor and Darth Maul rise onto their feet and watch as their quarry escape with the Sith Lord deactivating his lightsaber and the Dark Keyblade Wielder dismissing his Dark Keyblade. Both of them were left fuming on the desert.
Inside the queen's starship, Devon and Qui-Gon collapse on the floor, sitting on their rears, exhausted from their fight. Anakin and Obi-wan rush in from the cockpit to check up on them.
"Are you two alright?" Anakin asks
"I think so." Qui-Gon says
"Don't worry. I'm still breathing." Devon pants
"Who were they?" Obi-Wan asks
"I don't know. One of them was well-trained in the Jedi arts, but the other was extremely skilled and it wielded a Keyblade like Devon. My guess is they were both after the queen." Qui-Gon says
"I was thinking the same thing." Devon says
"What are we going to do about them?" Anakin asks
"We shall be patient. Anakin Skywalker, meet Obi-Wan Kenobi." Qui-Gon says
Anakin and Obi-Wan shake hands.
"Hi. You're a Jedi too?" Anakin says
Obi-Wan smiles and nods his head yes.
"Pleased to meet you." Anakin says
Qui-Gon and Devon laugh. Having escaped Darth Maul and Lord Drazor, the group fly out into the vastness of space, setting their course for Coruscant.
(Naboo)
Meanwhile back on Naboo, the city of Theed was now under the control of the Trade Federation. It was night time as darkness fell over the city and the Viceroy, Nute Gunray, was sitting on a crawler chair as he proceeded through the Royal Palace with Governor Sio Bibble hostage with two battle droids behind him.
"Your queen is lost, your people are starving, and you, Governor, are going to die much sooner than your people, I'm afraid." Gunray says
"This invasion will gain you nothing. We are a democracy. The people have decided." Sio Bibble says in defiance
"Take him away." Gunray says with a wave of his right-hand
The two battle droids escort Sio Bibble away down a staircase while a battle droid commander approaches the Viceroy, delivering interesting news.
"My troops are in position to begin searching the swamps for these rumored underwater villages. They will not remain hidden for long." The commander droid says
(Elsewhere)
In space, the queen's starship was now on it's flight to Coruscant to continue their mission in reporting the Trade Federation's invasion to the senate of the Republic.
Devon sat in a chair in the central chamber of the ship on the right-side of the room, which led to the lower deck. R2-D2 was in shutdown mode nearby where Devon was. Across from him, Jar Jar was asleep in a chair at a table with his feet up in the left-side corner of the room.
As he sat in the chair, Devon couldn't help but ponder over his encounter with the two dark warriors back on Tatooine. One of them wielded a lightsaber like Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, but it's color was red, which gave him the impression that he was no Jedi. He was something else entirely. As for the other mysterious warrior, he wielded a Keyblade just like him. This meant that he was obviously a Keyblade Wielder. But the question was: Who was he? Was he a servant of the Dark Lord of the Shadows or Lord Thanatos? It was then that Devon remembered something else that the Inheritor mentioned at the start of his exam.
(Flashback)
Devon, Sora, and Riku stood together infront of the Inheritor as the godly being sat in his desk within the Celestial Archive as he explained the origins of Kingdom Hearts.
"Long ago, in the age of fairy tales, the Universe was filled with light, a gift many believed, originated from an unseen power known as Kingdom Hearts." The Inheritor explains
An image of Kingdom Hearts appears above the three Keyblade Wielders and their friends. Another image appeared next to the heart-shaped moon. It was the legendary sword, the X-blade.
"Kingdom Hearts was safeguarded by it's counterpart, the X-blade, so that none could ever lay hands on it's mysteries, it's ancient power, and it's unfathomable wisdom. But in time, the Universe was overrun by legions of warriors who wanted the light for themselves, and the first shadows were cast upon the land." The Inheritor explains
An image of a blank white humanoid figures appeared before the heroes, wielding Soul Calibur in it's right-hand as it glowed with it's blue light. Three more white figures appeared next to it's left, wielding Star Seeker, Kingdom Key and Way to Dawn. To the right of them, three shadowy figures appeared, wielding The Harbinger of Shadows, Kingdom Key D, and Fear's Shadow.
"These warriors crafted Keyblades in the image of the original X-blade, and waged a great war over Kingdom Hearts. We call this the Keyblade War." The Inheritor explains
The images of Kingdom Hearts, the X-blade, and the Keyblade Wielders disappear while a single bright star appears in the room. With a clap and spread of the Inheritor's hands, the star explodes into countless stars, sending them blasting off in many directions. Devon and his friends glance around in amazement. The stars changed into many images of worlds as they appear around the heroes, floating about in the room. Some were worlds that Devon and his friends had visited like Berk, the Dragon Realms, the Pokémon World, Twilight Town, Radiant Garden, Camelot, The Pride Lands, and Beast's Castle. And there were others worlds that were unfamiliar to them like The Celestial Realm, The Land of Departure, The Enchanted Dominion, The Castle of Dreams, and The Dwarf Woodlands.
"But though the war extinguished all the light from the Universe, the darkness could not reach the brightness inside every child's heart. With that light, the Universe was remade as we know it to this day with countless smaller worlds shining like stars in the sky." The Inheritor explains
The images of the worlds disappears and two lights appear above the heroes. One was a golden-white light, representing the element of Light. The other was a black, dark blue, and purple light, representing the element of Darkness.
"As for the real X-blade, it did not survive the battle. The two elements that created it, one of darkness and one of light, shattered into twenty pieces."
Devon and his friends watch in surprise as the elements of Light and Darkness shatter, leaving behind only twenty pieces.
"Seven of light, thirteen of darkness." The Inheritor explains
The seven lights and thirteen darkness disappear as the Inheritor continues.
"And as for the source of all light, the one true Kingdom Hearts, it was consumed by the darkness, never to surface again. As long as it remains there, even the brightest world will have it's darkest corners. It is in these instances that light begets darkness, and darkness is drawn to light. For this reason, some decided to use the Keyblade, a weapon designed to conquer the light, to defend the light instead. These were the first heroes of the Keyblade." The Inheritor explains
(Present time)
Devon was soon snapped out of his thoughts when Padmé came into the central chamber from the lift. The handmaiden approaches the tech station on the the other side of the room and presses some buttons. She comes across the transmission from Sio Bibble and plays the message.
"The death toll is catastrophic. We must bow to their wishes. You must contact me." Sio Bibble says
The message ends as Sio Bibble's hologram disappears, leaving Padmé concerned and worried for her people back on Naboo.
"Padmé?" Devon says
The handmaiden looks over and saw Devon approaching her.
"Are you okay?" Devon asks concerned
Padmé nodded her head yes, though the young teen could see the sadness in her face.
"You're worried about you're planet, aren't you?" Devon asks
"Yes." Padmé says looking down
Devon places his right-hand on Padmé's left-arm, offering her comfort. Padmé looks up at the young teen while he smiles. A faint smiles forms on her face and the handmaiden nods her head. Devon and Padmé soon heard a slight whimper in the room. They looked over and saw Anakin sitting at the table, shivering from the cold temperature of space.
"You all right?" Padmé asks concerned
"It's very cold." Anakin says quietly
The Keyblade Wielder and handmaiden share concerned glances with each other. They knew that Anakin was from a warm planet like Tatooine. He had always been used to the constant heat of the desert planet, but this was a new experience for him. He had never traveled through space, nor experienced it's cold temperature. Padmé grabs a red blanket and walks over to Anakin, covering the little boy to warm him up. Devon follows and stands behind her, resting his right-hand on the table.
"You come from a warm planet, Ani. A little too warm for my taste. Space is cold." Padmé says
Anakin saw the solemn expression on Padmé's face and he could feel her sadness.
"You seem sad." Anakin says
"The queen is worried. Her people is suffering, dying. She must convince the senate to intervene, or... I'm not sure what will happen." Padmé says
Anakin reaches into the pocket of his pants and takes out an ivory wood pendant, giving it to Padmé.
"I made this for you, so you'd remember me. I carved it out of a japor snippet. It'll bring you good fortune." Anakin says
Padmé inspects the pendant in her hands and was fairly impressed by Anakin's skill at carving. Even Devon was impressed. They admired the careful and dedicated work that Anakin had put into it.
"It's beautiful. But I don't need this to remember you by. Many things will change when we reach the capital, Ani, but my caring for you will remain." Padmé says
"I care for you, too, only I-" Anakin says looking down
"Miss your mother." Padmé says
Anakin glances back up at Padmé with an innocent, sad expression. Devon looks on, feeling bad for the two people infront of him. Putting on a determined face, he walks over, kneels down to Anakin and Padmé, and places his hands on their shoulders while they look over at him. He nods and smiles.
"It's tough having to adapt to new things. And it can be hard not missing the people you love and care about. Believe me. I speak from experience. But things will turn out better for all of us. All it takes is a little bit of faith." Devon says
Anakin and Padmé stare at Devon, touched by his words, and they soon smile and nod their head to him. No matter what comes next after Coruscant, the three of them would always be friends.
Author's Note: Here's a little chapter for a transition from Tatooine to Coruscant. Devon and Qui-Gon free Anakin from slavery and he joins them on their journey to Coruscant. Anakin says farewell to his mother, Shmi. As they head back to the queen's ship, they are ambushed by Dream Eaters and later on by Lord Drazor and Darth Maul.
