After escaping their ordeal on Tatooine, the group finally reach Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Republic.
Coruscant was an ecumenopolis, a city-covered planet located in the Core Worlds of the galaxy. It was also home to the Jedi Order and the Jedi Temple. From orbit, the planet was a blaze of lights and sparkling colors, making it a beautiful sight to behold.
The entire surface of Coruscant was covered by many towering skyscrapers which stretched several kilometers high above the ground and into the atmosphere. The population of the planet was well over a trillion in a diverse mix of both human and alien species. The dense city blocks were built ontop of each other, the lowest being level 1, and the highest being Level 5127. Streams of speeders flew around through the air in skylanes all throughout the city. The Galactic City was was divided into sectors, and those sectors were further divided into zones. Such zones was the Federal District, the Industrial District, and the Entertainment District.
Devon and Anakin stood in the cockpit of the queen's ship, taking in the sights of the majestic planet city through the ship's viewports. Ric Olié, the pilot, told them about the planet as they flew through the city.
"Coruscant. The entire planet is one big city." Olié says
The ship flew towards a floating landing platform, which had a shuttle docked as Olié pointed it out.
"There's Chancellor Valorum's shuttle." Olié says
Also on the landing platform was Senator Palpatine, who stood awaiting their arrival.
"And look over there. Senator Palpatine is waiting for us." Olié says
The silver ship touches down and lands on the platform. The group exits the ship and they were all greeted by Senator Palpatine, Supreme Chancellor, Finis Valorum, and the Senate Guard, who wore blue robes and wielded MK II Paladin Blaster Rifles slung over their shoulders. The guards line up in formation, standing on either side of the group as they approach Palpatine and Valorum. Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Devon, and Anakin approach the two representatives of the Republic and bow to them in respect and greeting. Then, they move away as Queen Amidala and her handmaidens approach them.
"It is a great gift to see you alive, Your Majesty. With the communications breakdown, we've been very concerned. I am anxious to hear your report of the situation." Palpatine says
The senator looks over at the chancellor on his right, introducing him to Valorum.
"May I present, Supreme Chancellor Valorum." Palpatine says
Valorum held a calm expression and he spoke in a stern voice as he greeted the Queen of Naboo.
"Welcome, Your Highness. It is an honor to finally meet you in person." Valorum says
"Thank you, Supreme Chancellor." Queen Amidala says
Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka, her handmaidens, Jar Jar, and Anakin walked with Valorum and Palpatine towards a taxi that was waiting for them on the platform.
"I must relay to you how distressed everyone is over the current situation. I've called for a special session of the senate to hear your position." Valorum says
"I'm grateful for your concern, Chancellor." Queen Amidala says
"There is a question of procedure, but I'm confident we can overcome it." Palpatine says
Chancellor Valorum stayed behind as the queen and her handmaidens continued toward the taxi with Senator Palpatine. Qui-Gon approaches the chancellor to speak with him.
"I must speak with the Jedi Council immediately. The situation has become much more complicated." Qui-Gon says
Anakin stops and looks back at the two Jedi and Keyblade Wielder. Qui-Gon glances over at Anakin and motions him to follow the queen. The little boy boards the taxi and sits next to Jar Jar.
"The queen's bein' grossly nice, mesa tinks. Pitty hot." Jar Jar says smiling
With everyone onboard, the taxi flies off and leaves the landing platform. The taxi flies through the air-traffic of the city and heads for the Federal District, heading down to one of the hangars.
In an apartment building, Anakin and Jar Jar waited outside Senator Palpatine's office suite as he and Queen Amidala held a meeting inside.
Queen Amidala was now wearing a silver golden dress. Her headdress had black feathered crest like her previous outfit and strings of beads that hanged from the sides.
Captain Panaka walked past Anakin and Jar Jar as he joined in on the meeting. Senator Palpatine paced back and forth around the room, speaking with the queen about the senate.
"There is no civility, only politics. The Republic is not as it once was. The senate is full of greedy, squabbling delegates. There is no interest in the common good. I must be frank, Your Majesty, there is little chance the senate will act on the invasion." Palpatine says
"Chancellor Valorum seems to think there is hope." Queen Amidala says
"If I may say so, Your Majesty, the chancellor has little real power. He is mired by baseless accusations of corruption. The bureaucrats are in charge now." Palpatine says
"What options have we?" Queen Amidala asks
"Our best choice would be to put for the election of a stronger supreme chancellor, one who can control the bureaucrats and give us justice. You could call for a Vote of No Confidence in Chancellor Valorum." Palpatine suggests
"He's been our strongest supporter." Queen Amidala says
"Our only other choice would be to submit a plead to the courts." Palpatine says
"The courts take longer to decide than the senate. Our people are dying, senator. We must do something quickly to stop the Federation." Queen Amidala says
"To be realistic, Your Majesty, I think we're going to have to accept Federation control for the time being." Palpatine says
The queen gave the senator a withering glare. It was almost as if he was willing to let the Federation keep control of her planet and allow the suffering of her people to continue.
"That is something I cannot do." Queen Amidala says calmly
After leaving Queen Amidala and her group with Senator Palpatine, Devon, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan boarded another speeder and flew to the Jedi Temple, which stood on it's own low-rise district within the Federal District.
The Jedi Temple was a massive ziggurat structure which stood a kilometer high above the surrounding rooftops in an isolated area of Coruscant. The temple had the appearance of a fortress, but was really a place of meditation and gentle reflection. Within the halls of the Jedi Temple were shrines, temples, academies, and holy places dedicated to the Jedi Order and the Light-side of the Force. Five towers crowned the structure; four smaller Jedi Council towers, located on the ordinal-oriented sides of the complex, surrounding a taller central Tranquility Spire.
Devon looked on at the massive complex in awe and amazement. The two Jedi and Keyblade Wielder fly into one of the hangars in the temple and touch down on the landing pad. They were soon greeted by another Jedi as he approached them. An elderly man named Count Dooku. He wore dark brown robes like Qui-Gon and had a curved lightsaber clipped to the right of his belt.
"Master. It's a pleasure to see you again." Qui-Gon greets with a smile
"Qui-Gon, my old apprentice. Welcome back." Dooku says
The two Jedi Masters shake hands.
"Allow me to introduce my young Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi." Qui-Gon says
Obi-Wan bows in respect to his master's mentor. Then, Qui-Gon introduces Devon as he stepped forward.
"And this is our young friend, Devon." Qui-Gon says
Dooku looked at Devon with an intrigued look.
"Ah. You must be the Keyblade Wielder. Such a great pleasure to meet you." Dooku says
Dooku offers his right-hand to Devon, who gladly shakes his hand with a smile.
"And it's a pleasure to meet another Jedi." Devon says
The elder Jedi Master looks over at his former apprentice.
"Qui-Gon, the council is expecting you. They are eager to hear of your report on the situation of Naboo." Dooku says
"Yes, master." Qui-Gon says nodding his head
"If he is not needed, I'd wish to give our young Keyblade Wielder a tour of the Jedi Temple to help him better understand more about our order." Dooku says
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan nodded in agreement to the idea.
"Sure. I'd certaintly like to have a look around the temple." Devon says
Devon was excited that he would be able to see more of the Jedi Temple. And so, Devon left the hangar with Count Dooku while the other two Jedi watched them go.
Devon followed Count Dooku as they walked together through the vast spacious halls of the temple. He gazed around at the dozens of pillars in the halls, amazed by the architecture of the temple.
"Wow. This place is amazing." Devon says
"Indeed it is, my young friend. You will find no safer place in the galaxy than the Jedi Temple. Here, the Order of the Jedi has endured for thousands of years, keeping watch over the planetary systems and maintaining justice in the galaxy. Of course, they had help from young Keyblade Wielders like yourself." Dooku says
Count Dooku showed Devon many wonders in the Jedi Temple.
First, they walked through the Room of a Thousand Fountains, which was a large seven story greenhouse full of fountains and waterfalls that flowed with pure crystal clear water and exotic plants, giving off a feeling of peace and serenity.
"If Sora ever found his way into a place like this, he'd have a field day." Devon says
Devon and Dooku walked along the dirt paths in the chamber and soon stopped on a wooden bridge that crossed over a stream. Devon rested his arms against the railing of the bridge, taking in the sights of the fountains and beautiful flora. The trickling of the waters in the fountains and the roars of the waterfalls were such soothing sounds. He then looks over at Dooku on left.
"So, you were Qui-Gon's master back in the day when he was in training like Obi-Wan?" Devon asks
"Indeed I was. Qui-Gon was my most excellent pupil. Even at a young age, he had such incredible prowess with his lightsaber skills. We took on many missions in our time together, exploring the Outer Rim Territories. In a way, you remind me much of Qui-Gon during his youth as a Padawan." Dooku says
"Really? How so?" Devon asks raising his left-eyebrow
"Well, from what I can tell, both of you are strong, brave, good, and kind. Qui-Gon is very strong with the Force. I sense the Force is also strong within you, Devon." Dooku says
"Have you or Qui-Gon ever met any Keyblade Wielders back then?" Devon asks
"No. Keyblade Wielders haven't been seen in the galaxy for a long time. But from what I've heard, they were exceptionally skilled in utilizing the Force in a similar manner to Jedi." Dooku says
Devon looks down at his right-hand, wondering how powerful he could be if he was able to use the Force.
"If I could learn to channel the Force, it would definitely be a big help in my journey to become a Keyblade Master." Devon says
Devon gazes out at the beautiful chamber one last time before he continues on with his tour.
Moving on, Devon and Dooku continued with their exploration of the Jedi Temple, entering the massive Jedi Archive where everything based on the Jedi Order, the Force, every planetary system, and the whole history of the galaxy was recorded and catalogued in databases.
The archive was a two-story cruciform chamber centered around a large rotunda with four long halls. Each hall had a central aisle that ran it's length with several tables topped with computer terminals linked to the main index catalogue.
The First Hall was where philosophy and manuscripts detailing the history of the Republic was kept as well as personal journals of over billions of Jedi.
The Second Hall was filled with data of mathematical and engineering sciences such as hyperspace, vehicle schematics, and weapon designs.
The Third Hall was where information on geography and culture of every known planet in the Galactic Republic could be found. It included star maps of interstellar and planetary regions, and detailed analyses of specific civilizations.
And the Fourth Hall was dedicated to zoological research with information on every known species of flora and fauna in the galaxy.
Amongst the halls were bronzium sculptures of the most famous Jedi Masters of the Order, displayed at intervals along the stacks on stone pedestals. Each pedestal held a plaque describing the great acts of the displayed master.
Devon and Dooku walked through the Third Hall as the Jedi Master showed the young teen around.
"This is the Jedi Archive. It is our repository of knowledge on Coruscant and the sum of all galactic knowledge." Dooku says
Devon gazes at all the trillions of datatapes and datacards, amazed at the vast wealth of information to be had. He soon looks over at a terminal and saw the map of the galaxy on the screen.
"This is the galaxy, right?" Devon asks
"Correct." Dooku says
Dooku works on the terminal and shows Coruscant on the star map.
"And here is Coruscant in the galactic center." Dooku says
Devon looks over the galactic map and was astounded by the number of planets shown on the terminal.
"Wow. There's so many planets." Devon says amazed
The young teen notices Naboo and Tatooine on the map and points them out.
"There's Naboo and Tatooine." Devon says
As Devon looked over the star map, the Chief Librarian, Jocasta Nu approaches them.
"Greetings, Master Dooku. Is there anything I can assist you with?" Jocasta says
"No, Jocasta. Just showing our Keyblade newcomer around the temple." Dooku says
Devon turns and looks over at the librarian, surprising her.
"A Keyblade Wielder?! Incredible!" Jocasta gasps in surprise and awe
"Devon, this is Chief Librarian, Jocasta Nu. She looks over the archive here in the temple." Dooku says
Devon and Jocasta shake hands and smile kindly to each other.
"A great pleasure to meet you, young Keyblade Wielder. If you ever need information on anything in the galaxy, the archive is always open to you." Jocasta says
"Thanks." Devon says smiling
Finally, Devon and Dooku come into the Training Grounds where every Jedi from young initiates to their masters trained with their lightsabers against training droids and each other in dueling areas.
The Training Grounds was a courtyard in the Jedi Temple exterior, near the base of the temple's central spire. In the heart of the area was an ancient gnarled tree with golden boughs that was imbued with the power of the Force.
"And this is the Jedi Training Grounds where Jedi train in sparring matches against droids and sometimes each other to test their skills." Dooku says
Devon looked around as he saw some Jedi training with their lightsabers, taking practice swings, deflecting blaster bolts from small training remotes, and sparring with each other in duels.
Then, his eyes gazed upon the Great Tree in the courtyard. Devon felt drawn to the ancient tree as he walked towards it. He places his right-hand on the Great Tree, feeling it's gnarled bark. As his hand came in contact with the tree, a blue light flashed briefly from Devon's hand, causing him to gasp slightly in surprise. With his hand still on the tree, Devon closed his eyes as he soon felt calm and at peace. He let out a relaxed sigh as he could feel the soothing, spiritual energy emanating from the tree.
"I... I can feel it. The Force... It's calling to me." Devon says
Devon's entire body glows with blue light for a brief moment as he became attuned to the Force. This drew the attention of the Jedi in the courtyard as they watched Devon's body glow. Even Dooku was intrigued by what he saw. Devon opens his eyes and pulled away from the tree. Soul Calibur appears floating infront of it's wielder. Devon reaches out and takes hold of his crystal Keyblade with his right-hand. Upon contact, the Keyblade glowed brightly with it's benevolent light in reacting to the Force, creating a spectacular light show, which illuminated the entire courtyard, lasting for only a couple seconds.
The Jedi in the courtyard as well as every other Jedi throughout the temple could feel an incredible energy in the Force. It was overwhelming as it filled the entire temple with light.
Eventually, Soul Calibur disappears in a flash of light and Devon looked down into his open palm.
"Truly an incredible display. It seems the Force has awakened within you, young Devon. Now, like the Jedi, you are in tune with the Force." Dooku says
"Really?" Devon says
Devon places his hand back on the tree and right away he knew all about it.
"This is a Uneti Tree. There are trees like this on Ahch-To and Yavin 4. This one was brought here from Ossus where the first Jedi Temple was built." Devon says
Devon blinked and shook his head in realizing what he had said.
"What? How...? How did I know that?" Devon says confused
"Psychometry. A rare ability, my friend. Through the Force, it allows you to acquire information about people, living creatures, or events surrounding objects." Dooku says
Devon stares down at his hand, amazed by what he had learned through the Force.
"I learned all that just by touching this tree?" Devon says
"Through the Force, many things are possible." Dooku says
Devon looks around as he could now feel the light side of the Force flowing through him and in his surroundings. He felt the Force within the temple, the other Jedi, even Dooku's energy, which was strong. Wanting to test his newfound abilities, Devon looks over at a collection of rocks and boulders in the courtyard and stretches his left-hand towards them. Focusing his gaze, he reaches out with the Force and slowly lifts up each of the large, heavy rocks in the air. The rocks float in the air for a couple seconds before they slowly descend back down to the ground.
The young teen let out a sigh and lowers his arm. The Jedi clap their hands and applauds Devon with his impressive show. Devon turns around at all the Jedi and smiles. He bows as they continue their applause.
"Well done, my young friend. You've already learned how to control the Force. Not many Jedi are able to connect with the Force as easily as you have. An impressive feat." Dooku says impressed
Devon and Dooku soon heard footsteps approaching them from behind. Turning around, they saw Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and another Jedi. A small, old green alien named Master Yoda, who held a walking stick in his hands, standing infront of the two Jedi Knights.
"What do you think of the Jedi Temple, Devon?" Qui-Gon asks
"It's most impressive. There's certaintly a lot to experience." Devon says
"I had just finished showing our young Keyblade Wielder around the Jedi Temple." Dooku says
"And I've established my connection to the Force." Devon says
"We've felt it. Congratulations." Qui-Gon says
Yoda slowly walks up to Devon and looks up at him with a kind smile on his face.
"Yoda I am. An honor to meet a Keyblade Wielder of Light it is, young Devon."
Devon smiles and bows to the Jedi Master.
"Likewise, Master Yoda." Devon says
Yoda closes his eyes as he looks into Devon's heart. Like Qui-Gon, the Jedi Master felt an incredible abundance of light within the young teen.
"Hmm... Strong with you the Force is. Admirable your skills are with the Keyblade. Pure is your heart. And many hearts connected to you they are. Gifts of the Force you possess. Dormant are they within your heart. Discover them you will on your journey." Yoda says
"Thanks." Devon says
"Come. Eager the council is to meet you. Much there is to discuss." Yoda says
Devon nods his head in understanding and he follows the three Jedi to the Tranquility Spire while Dooku and other Jedi watch him go. The Jedi in the courtyard murmur amongst themselves over what they had seen.
"Who was he?"
"Where did he come from?"
"Is he a Jedi?"
"I don't think so."
"Did you see his weapon?"
"I did."
"Me too."
"It was shaped like a key."
"It glowed like a lightsaber."
"Could he be a Keyblade Wielder?"
"No way!"
"I thought they all vanished."
"Incredible!"
Dooku smirked as he watched Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Yoda enter a lift to the spire. He had certaintly sparked a lot of interest in such a short amount of time. It was astonishing.
Devon stood with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan as they met with the rest of the Jedi Council in a circular chamber within the High Council Tower.
Yoda sat in his chair as the Grand Master of the Council. Around him were his fellow masters and members of the Jedi Council. There was Mace Windu, a dark skinned human male, Ki-Adi-Mundi, a Cerean male, Plo Koon, a Kel Dor male, Even Piell, a Lannik male, Saesee Tiin, an Iktotchi male, Oppo Rancisis, a Thisspiasian male, Yarael Poof, a Quermian male, Eeth Koth, a female Zabrak, Depa Billaba, a human female, and Adi Gallia, a Tholothian female. Each of them sat in their own similar chairs in a ring around the chamber.
Qui-Gon before his fellow Jedi as he gave his report about their encounter with the dark warriors on Tatooine.
"He was trained in the Jedi arts. My only conclusion can be that it was a Sith Lord." Qui-Gon says
"Impossible. The Sith have been extinct for a millennia." Ki-Adi-Mundi says
"I do not believe the Sith could have returned without us knowing." Windu says
"Ah, hard to see, the dark side is." Yoda says
"There is more. Another warrior fought alongside the Sith Lord in the attack. He was very strong with the darkness." Qui-Gon says
Qui-Gon looks over at Devon on his right.
"He wielded a Keyblade much like our young friend here. It's more than likely he was a Dark Keyblade Wielder." Qui-Gon says
Each of the Jedi Masters on the council shared grave glances with each other. They remember how powerful Keyblade Wielders were in the Force. But out of all of them, Yoda was the most concerned. Besides the Keyblade Wielders who served the light, there were those who served the darkness. And they served only one being of pure evil. One that even Yoda especially feared: Makuta Teridax, The Dark Lord of the Shadows. If Teridax and the Sith were involved with the crisis on Naboo, the entire Universe was in grave danger.
"Investigate we must. Many events there are unfolding. If involved the Sith and the Dark Lord, great will be the coming storm of darkness. Threatened the galaxy will be, as will the rest of the Universe." Yoda says
"I sense these dark warriors will reveal themselves again." Depa Billaba says closing her eyes briefly
"This attack was with purpose, that much is clear." Even Piell says
"I agree. And the queen is the target." Saesee Tiin says
Yoda nods and looks over at the two Jedi and Keyblade Wielder.
"Stay with her you must. Vital is she to the Republic." Yoda says
Mace Windu nods in agreement.
"We will use all of our resources to unravel this mystery. We will discover the identity of your attackers. May the Force be with you." Mace Windu says
Devon, Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gon bow before the Jedi Council. Obi-Wan turned to head out the room, but stopped when Qui-Gon and Devon stayed.
"Master Qui-Gon. More to say have you?" Yoda asks
"With your permission, my master, I've encountered a vergence in the Force." Qui-Gon says
"A vergence, you say?" Yoda asks
"Located around a person?" Mace Windu asks
"Two persons." Qui-Gon says
The Jedi Master gestures over to Devon with his right-hand.
"Devon was the first I've encountered. His cells have a high concentration of Midi-Chlorians. The highest I have ever seen in a life-form." Qui-Gon says
"And the other?" Windu asks
"A boy from Tatooine named Anakin Skywalker, whose cells also have a high concentration of Midi-Chlorians. It is possible Devon and Anakin were conceived by the Midi-Chlorians." Qui-Gon says
"You refer to the prophecy of the ones who will bring balance to the Force. You believe it's these boys?" Windu says
"I don't presume to-" Qui-Gon says
"But you do. Revealed your opinion is." Yoda says pointing at Qui-Gon with his right-finger
"I request that Anakin be tested, Master." Qui-Gon says
"Oh? Trained as Jedi you request for him, hmm?" Yoda says
"Finding him and Devon was the will of the Force. I have no doubt of that." Qui-Gon says
The Jedi Masters looked at each other silently, then they looked toward Mace Windu, who let out a deep sigh.
"Bring him before us, then." Windu says
Qui-Gon bows his head and leaves the chamber with Obi-Wan and Devon. Yoda and Mace Windu share glances with each other.
Devon and Anakin traveled to Queen Amidala's apartment to see Padmé before heading back to the Jedi Temple. The two boys stood outside the door to the suite with a guard standing watch. He takes out a comlink from his belt and contacts one of the handmaidens inside.
"The Keyblade Wielder, Devon and young Skywalker are here to see Padmé." The guard says
"Let them in." A female voice says
Devon and Anakin enter the room and one of the handmaidens approaches them.
"Hi. Is Padmé around?" Devon asks
"I'm sorry, but Padmé's not here right now." Rabe says
"Who is it?" Queen Amidala asks
"Devon and Anakin Skywalker to see Padmé, Your Highness." Rabe says
The two boys bow in respect for the queen.
"Sorry to intrude, Your Highness. We were hoping to see Padmé before heading off to the Jedi Temple." Devon apologizes
"I've sent Padmé on an errand." Queen Amidala says
"I'm on my way to the Jedi Temple to start my training, I hope. I may never see her again, so I came to say good-bye." Anakin says
"We will tell her for you. We are sure her heart goes with you." Queen Amidala says
Devon and Anakin bow again to the queen.
"Thank you, Your Highness." Anakin says
"Good luck with the senate, Your Majesty. I hope everything goes well." Devon says
With that said, the two boys leave the room and head out to meet up with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.
In the Senate Building, all the senators and representatives met in the Grand Convocation Chamber to discuss the Blockade of Naboo.
The chamber was a large, open room in the Senate Building, and the heart of the Galactic Senate, the very core of all galactic governments. The room was over 100 meters tall and consisted of 1,024 repulsorpods for delegations from all over the galaxy. These platforms could detach from the walls of the chamber and was equipped with voice-amplifying microphones, translators, and hovercams, which recorded the various proceedings.
In the center of the meeting hall was a thirty-meter-tall podium, which extended from the working office of Chancellory Secretariat. This was the Chancellor's podium. which sprouted from the floor from the Chancellor's holding office directly below. The Supreme Chancellor, Vice Chair, and Staff Aide stood on the upper level of the podium, while other officials like the journal clerk, the official reporter, parliamentarian, and sergeant-at-arms stood on the lower level.
Standing on the podium was Supreme Chancellor Valorum, on his right was Vice Chair Mas Amedda, a blue Chagrian male, and on his left was the Staff Aide Sei Taria, a human female.
"The chair recognizes the senator from the sovereign system of Naboo." Valorum says
The repulsorpod with Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka, and Supreme Chancellor onboard detaches from it's docking place the walls of the chamber and hovers in the room near the Chancellor's podium.
"Supreme Chancellor, delegates of the senate, a tragedy has occurred, which started right here in the taxation trade routes, and has now engulfed our entire planet in the oppression of the Trade Federation." Palpatine says
Another repulsorpod detaches from the wall and hovers in the room with three Neimoidians onboard, who were representatives of the Trade Federation. One of them named Lott Dod, a male Neimoidian spoke out against Senator Palpatine.
"This is outrageous! I object to the senator's statements." Lott Dod says
"The chair does not recognize the senators from the Trade Federation at this time." Valorum says
"To state our allegations, I present Queen Amidala, recently elected ruler of the Naboo, who speaks on our behalf." Palpatine says
Senator Palpatine moves away as Queen Amidala takes the stand.
"Honorable representatives of the Republic, I come to you under the gravest of circumstances. The Naboo system has been invaded by the droid armies of the Trade-" Queen Amidala says
"I object! There is no proof! This is incredible. We recommend a commission to be sent to Naboo to ascertain the truth." Lott Dod says
Another repulsorpod hovers in the room with three Gran representatives of Malastare. One of them was Aks Moe, a male Gran senator.
"The Congress of Malastare concurs with the honorable delegate of the Trade Federation. A commission must be appointed." Aks Moe says
"The point-" Valorum says
Before Valorum could say anything else, his Vice Chair, Mas Amedda interrupts him.
"Excuse me, Chancellor." Mas Amedda says
While Chancellor Valorum spoke with the Vice Chancellor, Palpatine spoke quietly with Queen Amidala.
"Enter the bureaucrat. The true rulers of the Republic. And on the payroll of the Trade Federation, I might add. This is where Chancellor Valorum's strength will disappear." Palpatine says
Once his brief conversation with Mas Amedda was finished, Valorum returns to the mic.
"The point is conceded. Will you defer your motion to allow a commission to explore the validity of your accusations?" Valorum asks
"I will not defer. I've come before you to resolve this attack on our sovereignty now. I was not elected to watch my people suffer and die while you discuss this invasion in a committee. If this body is not capable of action, I suggest new leadership is needed. I move for a Vote of No Confidence in Chancellor Valorum's leadership." Queen Amidala says
The senators and representatives of the senate all stood up on their pods and began speaking at once, filling the whole chamber with their voices, murmuring and shouting.
"Order!" Mas Amedda shouts
"Now they will elect a new chancellor, a strong chancellor, one who will not let our tragedy continue." Palpatine says
The sun was now setting on Coruscant as the day passed into the evening, bathing the Galactic City with it's orange light. Back at the Jedi Temple, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan walked through one of the hallways in the temple and came out onto a balcony, watching the sunset and the dozens of streaming speeders in the sky.
"The boy will not pass the council's test, Master. He's too old." Obi-Wan says
"Anakin will become a Jedi, I promise you." Qui-Gon says
"Do not defy the council, Master, not again." Obi-Wan says
"I shall do what I must, Obi-Wan." Qui-Gon says
"If you would just follow the code, you would be on the council. They will not go along with you this time." Obi-Wan says
Qui-Gon looks at his Padawan on his right and places his right-hand on Obi-Wan's shoulder.
"You still have much to learn, my young apprentice." Qui-Gon says
Anakin stood before the Jedi Council as he was now undergoing his test. Devon stood at the doors to the chamber, watching over Anakin. Mace Windu held a small viewscreen in his right-hand, devoid of any buttons and was activated through the Force. This screen displayed different images that only Windu could see, but not Anakin. The first image was a starship.
"A ship." Anakin says
The next image was a cup. Anakin got it right.
"A cup." Anakin says
The next image was another ship.
"A ship." Anakin says
The final image was a speeder.
"A speeder." Anakin says
Anakin had gotten all of them right. Yoda and Windu shared impressed glances with each other, then look towards Anakin.
"Hmm. How feel you?" Yoda asks
"Cold, sir." Anakin says
"Afraid are you?" Yoda asks
"No, sir." Anakin says
"See through you, we can." Yoda says
"Be mindful of your feelings." Windu says
"Your thoughts dwell on your mother." Ki-Adi-Mundi says
"I miss her." Anakin says
"Mmm. Afraid to lose her, I think, mmm?" Yoda says
"What does that got to do with anything?" Anakin asks
"Everything. Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering." Yoda says
Yoda lets out a sigh.
"I sense much fear in you." Yoda says
Devon looks at Yoda as he said this, then looks over at Anakin in concern. Mace Windu saw the concern in Devon's eyes and he could tell he really cared for Anakin.
"Devon, step forward." Mace Windu says
The Keyblade Wielder obeys the Jedi Master's words and steps forward to the center of the chamber, standing next to Anakin.
"Master Windu?" Devon says
"What do you think of young Skywalker?" Mace Windu asks
Devon looks down at Anakin while the little boy looks up at him. The two of them share smiles. Devon turns back to the council.
"I believe that Anakin will turn out to be a great Jedi Knight. Qui-Gon saw his potential on Tatooine. And now that I am connected to the Force, I can see it, too. In a way, his journey to becoming a Jedi is somewhat similar to my own journey to become a Keyblade Master. Both tasks aren't easy to accomplish. But in this life, nothing ever is." Devon says
"Mmm. Truth there are in your words, Devon. But much uncertainty surrounds young Skywalker." Yoda says
"Perhaps. But there can't be no harm in trying." Devon says
The Jedi Master share glances with each other and remain silent. Devon looked at their face and saw the uncertainty in their eyes. Even through the Force, he could feel the cautiousness around them. Wanting to change the subject, Devon asks Yoda a question.
"Master Yoda? I've been told that there were Keyblade Wielders who worked alongside the Jedi in the past many years ago. Is it true?"
"Mmm. The greatest of allies were the Keyblade Wielders of yore to the Jedi Order. Tasked with safeguarding the light they were." Yoda says
"Did you ever meet any in your time as a Jedi Master?" Devon asks
Yoda nods his head yes.
"Great heroes they were. Two Keyblade Wielders I met long ago." Yoda says
"Do you remember their names?" Devon asks
Yoda nods his head again.
"Eraqus and Xehanort they were called. Powerful they were with the Keyblade. Strong were they in the Force." Yoda says
Upon hearing those names, Devon crosses his arms and closes his eyes in thought. He already knew of Master Xehanort from his meeting with the Inheritor. But the other name he hardly knew. And yet, there was some faint familiarity to it.
"Eraqus... Why does that name sound familiar?" Devon ponders to himself
Looking back at the Jedi Council, Devon asks about the two Keyblade Wielders.
"Would you mind telling me about Eraqus and Xehanort?" Devon asks
"Strong with the light Eraqus was. Good and pure was his heart. A hero he was to the Jedi. Yet clouded Xehanort was in mystery. Not long it was until he abandoned the light and turned to the dark side, becoming a Keyblade Wielder of darkness." Yoda says
Then, Devon asks another question.
"Master Yoda? Have you ever heard of someone called the Dark Lord of the Shadows?" Devon asks
Each of the Jedi Masters in the chamber share grave glances with each other upon hearing that name. Yoda closes his eyes for a moment, then opens them up, glancing over at Devon.
"Hmm. An ancient entity of evil he was. Very strong and powerful was he in the dark side of the Force. Master of the darkness he was. Very deep was his hatred for the light. Cruel was his heart. Far spread was his influence. Feared he was by many. Unstoppable in the first Keyblade War. Countless Keyblade Wielders and Jedi, slain by his hand were they." Yoda says
Devon stared at Yoda and he saw the grim expression on his face. It was almost as though he feared the Dark Lord himself. To have the Grand Jedi Master speak of such an evil entity, it was very unsettling. Anakin looks back and forth between Devon and Yoda. He could tell that whoever this Dark Lord was they spoke of, he must've been someone extremely powerful.
"There's been rumors that he's likely to return and bring about another war upon the Universe. That's why I'm training to become a Keyblade Master. Because I believe I'm the only one who can stop him." Devon says
Yoda stares at Devon and he could sense that the Keyblade Wielder had strong feelings for his friends. Besides those he had met already here in the galaxy, there were his friends from Destiny Islands, Berk, the Dragon Realms, and the many others he had.
"Afraid to lose your friends are you?" Yoda asks
Devon thought toward all his friends. He thought of his Night Fury Dragon, Luna. His best friends, Sora, Riku, Kairi, Spyro, Cynder, the Viking Teens, even all the friends he made on his journey so far
"Unfortunately, yes. I cannot deny that in my heart. If anything were to happen to my friends, I would never be able to forgive myself. They're the closest thing I have to a family." Devon says
"Tread carefully you must, young one. Your light, attracts the dark side it does. If not careful, claim you it will. Used against those closest to you it can. Forget you must not. Fear is the path to the dark side." Yoda says
Devon nods his head. With all the light he had in his heart, he had to keep his darkness in check as well.
"I understand, Master." Devon says
Night has fallen as the sky turned from orange to dark blue and the planet was illuminated by the lights of the Galactic City.
In her apartment suite, Queen Amidala stood at the large window of her room, gazing out at the city. She was now wearing a black royal dress as she was worried for the welfare of her people and her planet. Every moment wasted here means more suffering for those back on Naboo. She even wondered if her elderly advisor Sio Bibble was still alive. Jar Jar walks up to the queen and stood behind her.
"Yousa tinking yousa people ganna die?" Jar Jar asks
"I don't know." Queen Amidala says
"Gungans get pasted too, eh?" Jar Jar asks nervously
"I hope not." Queen Amidala says
"Gungans no dyin' without a fight. Wesa warriors. Wesa got a grand army. Dat's why yousa no liken us, mesa thinks." Jar Jar says
"Your Highness?" A voice calls
Queen Amidala and Jar Jar turn to see Captain Panaka and Senator Palpatine walk into the room.
"Your Highness. Senator Palpatine has been nominated to succeed Valorum as Supreme Chancellor." Panaka says
"A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. Your Majesty, if I am elected, I promise to put an end to corruption." Palpatine says
"Who else has been nominated?" Queen Amidala asks
"Bail Antilles of Alderaan and Ainlee Teem of Malastare." Panaka says
"I feel confident our situation will create a strong sympathy vote for us. I will be chancellor." Palpatine says
"I fear that by the time you are able to control the bureaucrats, senator, there'll be nothing left of our people, our way of life." Queen Amidala says
"I understand your concern, Your Majesty. Unfortunately, the Federation has possession of our planet." Palpatine says
"Senator, this is your arena. I feel I must return to mine. I've decided to go back to Naboo." Queen Amidala says
"Go back? But, Your Majesty, be realistic. They'll force you to sign the treaty." Palpatine says
"I will sign no treaty, Senator. My fate will be no different than that of our people." Queen Amidala says
Queen Amidala turns toward Captain Panaka.
"Captain." Queen Amidala says
"Your Highness?" Panaka says
"Ready my ship." Queen Amidala says
Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka and Jar Jar began heading out of the room.
"Please, your Majesty, stay here where it's safe." Palpatine says
Queen Amidala turns and faces Palpatine while Jar Jar and Captain Panaka leave the suite.
"It is clear to me now that the Republic no longer functions. I pray you will bring sanity and compassion back to the senate." Queen Amidala says
With that said, Queen Amidala turns and heads out of the room with her handmaidens while Senator Palpatine watches her go.
In the Jedi Council Chamber, Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Anakin stood before the council, eager to know of their decision on Anakin's future.
"The Force is strong with him." Ki-Adi-Mundi says
"So? He is to be trained?" Qui-Gon asks
The Jedi Masters looked to each other before Windu spoke.
"No. He will not be trained." Windu says
"No?" Qui-Gon asks surprised
"Why not?" Devon asks
"He is too old." Windu says
"He is the chosen one. Along with Devon. You must see it." Qui-Gon insists
"Earned our trust young Devon has. But clouded Skywalker's future is." Yoda says
"I will train him then." Qui-Gon says
Qui-Gon walks over and stands behind Anakin, placing his hands on his shoulders.
"I take Anakin as my Padawan learner." Qui-Gon says
"An apprentice you have, Qui-Gon. Impossible to take on a second." Yoda says
"The code forbids it." Windu says
"Obi-Wan is ready." Qui-Gon says
"I am ready to face the trials." Obi-Wan says
"Our own counsel we will keep on who is ready." Yoda says
"He is headstrong, and has much to learn of the Living Force, but he is capable. There is little more he can learn from me." Qui-Gon says
Master Yoda and Windu share glances with each other, then turn back to the two Jedi, little boy, and young teen.
"Young Skywalker's fate will be decided later." Yoda says
"Now is not the time for this. The senate is voting for a new supreme chancellor, and Queen Amidala is returning home, which will put pressure on the Federation, and could widen the confrontation." Windu says
"And draw out the queen's attackers." Ki-Adi-Mundi says
"Many events are unfolding as predicted." Plo Koon says
"Go to Naboo and discover the identity of these dark warriors. This is the clue we need to unravel the mystery of the Sith." Windu says
"And what about Anakin? He has nowhere to go." Qui-Gon asks
"He shall be your ward, Qui-Gon. We will not dispute that." Windu says
"May the Force be with you." Yoda says
Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Anakin bow before the Jedi Council and leave the chamber.
Now on the landing platform, the Queen's Starship was prepped and ready for departure back to Naboo. Devon, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Anakin stand outside the ship, waiting for Queen Amidala and her party. Devon, Anakin, and R2-D2 stood near the edge of the platform, watching the air-traffic of speeders. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan walked away from the ship towards them, speaking to each other.
"It's not disrespect, Master. It's the truth." Obi-Wan says
"From your point of view." Qui-Gon says
"The boy is dangerous. They all sense it. Why can't you?" Obi-Wan says
"His fate is uncertain. He is not dangerous. The council will decide Anakin's future. That should be enough for you. Now get on board." Qui-Gon says
Obi-Wan reluctantly turns and boards the ship while Devon, Anakin, and R2-D2 approach Qui-Gon.
"Qui-Gon, sir, I don't want to be a problem." Anakin says
The Jedi Master kneels down to little boy's level and places his left-hand on Anakin's right-arm.
"You won't be, Ani. I'm not allowed to train you, so I want you to watch me and be mindful. Always remember: Your focus determines your reality. Stay close to me and Devon and you'll be safe." Qui-Gon says
"Master, sir, I heard Yoda talking about Midi-Chlorians. I've been wondering, what are Midi-Chlorians?" Anakin asks
"Yeah. I've been wondering that myself. Apparently, everyone in the Jedi Temple's been mentioning that a lot." Devon says
"Midi-Chlorians are a microscopic life-form that resides within all living cells." Qui-Gon says
"They live inside me?" Anakin asks
"Inside your cells, yes. And in Devon's cells as well. And we are symbionts with them." Qui-Gon says
"Symbionts?" Anakin asks
"Life forms living together for a mutual advantage. Without the Midi-Chlorians, life could not exist, and we would have no knowledge of the Force. They continually speak to us, telling us the will of the Force. When you learn to quiet your mind, you'll hear them speaking to you." Qui-Gon says
"I don't understand." Anakin says
"With time and training, Ani, you will. You will." Qui-Gon says
Qui-Gon stands back up and turns around to see a taxi speeder arrive with Queen Amidala and her party arrive. Devon, Qui-Gon, and Anakin bow in greeting and respect for the queen as they approach and they followed her toward the silver ship.
"Your Majesty. It is our pleasure to continue to serve and protect you." Qui-Gon says
"I welcome your help. Both of you. Senator Palpatine fears that the Federation means to destroy me." Queen Amidala says
"I can assure you that will not allow that to happen." Qui-Gon says
"I'd say it's about time we took the fight to the Federation." Devon says
"Wesa goin' ho-o-ome!" Jar Jar exclaims happily
"C'mon, R2." Anakin says
The group boards the ship and take off from the landing pad. The silver ship leaves the planet of Coruscant and heads out into space. Going into hyperspace, the group begin their journey back toward Naboo.
Inside the royal palace on Naboo, Nute Gunray and Rune Haako spoke with Darth Sidious and Lord Thanatos via holocommunications with their holograms appearing on a crawling device as they walk through the halls of the palace.
"Is the planet secure?" Sidious asks
"We have taken over the last pockets of primitive life-forms. We are in complete control of the planet now." Gunray says
"Good. I will see to it in the senate things stay as they are." Sidious says
"WE WILL SEND OUR APPRENTICES, DARTH MAUL AND LORD DRAZOR, TO ASSIST YOU." Lord Drazor says
"Yes, my lords." Gunray says
The hologram of Lord Thanatos and Darth Sidious fade away.
"A Sith and a Dark Keyblade Wielder here?" Haako says feeling nervous
Author's Note: And there you have it. Devon explores the Jedi Temple and forms his connection to the Force. Then, he meets the Jedi Council and he meets everyone favorite green Jedi Master, Yoda! The Jedi Council deems Devon worthy of their trust, but they are uncertain of Anakin's fate. Now the group heads back to Naboo to retake the planet from the Trade Federation.
