Team of explorers swarm the docks of Giza as they prepare for their voyages. Across the Nile River, the pyramids of Giza spike the sky. It was a wonderous view to behold. Devon, Evy and Jonathan walk along the boardwalk of the dock besieged by barters selling goods. Evy was carrying bags in her hands as they traveled along the dock.
"Do you really think he'll show up?" Evy asks
"Yes, undoubtedly, knowing my luck. He may be a cowboy, but I know the breed. His word is his word." Jonathan says
"Well, personally, I think he's filthy, rude and a complete scoundrel. I don't like him one bit." Evy says
"Anyone I know?" A voice says
The trio turn around and they saw O'Connell walking up to them. Unlike before when he was in the Cairo Prison, he was now shaved, showered, and polished with a new haircut and clothes. O'Connell now wore a white long-sleeved shirt, a tan suit jacket, tan chinos, and brown boots. He looked dashing and handsome. Evy was suitably impressed as she dropped her bags on the ground.
"Oh... um,... hello." Evy says
"Smashing day for the start of an adventure, eh, O'Connell?" Jonathan says shakes his hand
"Yeah. Yeah, smashing." O'Connell says
O'Connell reaches inside his jacket and his shirt for his wallet, but Jonathan dismisses it with a wave of his right-hand.
"Oh, no, no, I'd never steal from a partner, partner." Jonathan says
"That reminds me. No hard feelings about the..." O'Connell says
O'Connell gestures to his head with his right-hand, remembering the nasty punch he had dealt to him before.
"Oh, no, no. Happens all the time." Jonathan says
O'Connell looks toward Devon.
"You said your name was Devon, right?" O'Connell asks
"Yep." Devon says
Devon extends his right-hand to O'Connell. The man smiles and shakes his hand.
"It's a pleasure to meet a fellow adventurer, O'Connell." Devon says
"Same here. Kid, something tells me you and I will get along just fine" O'Connell says
Devon nods his head with a smile.
"Looking forward to it." Devon says
"Mr. O'Connell, can you look me in the eye and guarantee me this isn't all some kind of flimflam? Because if it is, I am warning you, I will..." Evy says
"You're warning me?" O'Connell says
The man walks up to Evy, invading her space and looks her straight in the eye.
"Lady, let me put it to you this way. My whole damn garrison believed in this so much, that without orders, they marched halfway across Libya and into Egypt to find that city. And when we got there, all we found was sand and blood. Let me take your bags." O'Connell says
O'Connell takes her bags and heads up the gangplank and onto the passenger barge.
"Yes, yes, you're right. Filthy, rude, a complete scoundrel, nothing like that at all." Jonathan says
Evy gives her brother a stern look on her face while Jonathan grins. Suddenly, the warden Gad Hassan brushes past, tipping his raggedy hat.
"A bright good morning to all." Gad greets
"Oh, no. What are you doing here?" Evy asks
"I'm here to protect my investment. Thank you very much." Gad says
After saying that, Gad goes up the plank. Devon, Evy and Jonathan share looks with each other, then board the vessel themselves.
It was now night on the Nile and the full moon shines down on the river with it's pale-blue illuminating light. The riverboat, the Sudan, travels gently along the Nile. A number of Medjai were on kayaks rowing toward the riverboat. One of them had a rusty metal hook for a hand.
The Sudan was a large, long riverboat and it had three decks. It's captain was a bearded Nubian man and the serving-men onboard the ship were dressed in white gowns with red sashes. Dinner served on the vessel was food such as salmi of pigeons, fresh fish from the Nile, and tomato salad. These meals were served on long tables on the front of the ship. To the rear of the ship was a stable for camels and horses.
On the boat, Jonathan was playing Poker with three Americans: David Daniels, Henderson, and Bernard Burns.
Daniels was a stoic man compared with his fellow Americans, being impatient, curt with words and manners at times, but was not without his sense of humor, cracking a joke every now and then. He wore clothes similar to those of his fellow Americans, the main difference being that his garb was of a darker hue, consisting of a dark suit with plus-four trousers, black belt and suspenders, and a grey shirt and necktie.
Henderson was a brash and impudent man with dirty-blond hair and unshaven stubble. He fit the bill of a cowboy to the hilt, even dressing like one: in a white shirt and brown vest, tan chinos and suspenders, gaiters and a long kerchief.
Burns was an easygoing man that always seemed cheerful and optimistic. He had short brown hair. He constantly wore round, wire-rim spectacles, which he was essentially blind without. During the expedition set up by he and his friends, Burns wore a light chequered jacket, trilby hat light grey shirt, suspenders, a belt and knickerbockers. Burns was the least taciturn of the three American treasure hunters.
"Would you stop playing with your glasses and cut the deck, would you, Burns?" Daniels says
"Well, without my glasses, I wouldn't be able to see the deck to cut it, now would I, Daniels?" Burns says
O'Connell comes out a door carrying a gun sack. He was now wearing just his white shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his upper arms and his weapon holsters on his body.
"O'Connell, sit down, sit down. We could use another good player." Jonathan says
"I only gamble with my life, never my money." O'Connell says
"Never? What if I were to bet you five hundred dollars says we get to Hamunaptra before you?" Daniels says
"You're looking for Hamunaptra?" O'Connell asks
"Damn straight we are." Henderson says
"And who says we are?" O'Connell says
"He does." The three treasure hunters say pointing toward Jonathan
Jonathan chuckles sheepishly.
"Well? How 'bout it? Is it a bet?" Daniels asks
O'Connell thinks about it for a moment, but accepts their deal.
"Alright. You're on." O'Connell says
An Egyptologist named Allen Chamberlain who wore a khaki-colored suit with a dark grey vest and patterned necktie over a pinstriped shirt with a white collar, accentuated by a red fez which he constantly wore.
Allen sat with Daniels, Henderson, and Burns, accompanying them on their venture to Hamunaptra.
"What makes you so confident, sir?" Allen asks
"What makes you?" O'Connell asks
"We got us a man who's actually been there." Henderson says
"Well, what a coincidence, because O'Connell-" Jonathan says
O'Connell 'accidentally' hits Jonathan in the ribs with the gun sack, shutting him up and revealing anything else.
"Whose play is it? Is it my play?" Jonathan asks sheepishly
"Gentlemen, we got ourselves a wager. At evening, Jonathan." O'Connell says
O'Connell cracks Jonathan's shoulder before walking off.
"Night." Jonathan says
The kayaks with the Medjai were now up alongside the riverboat, remaining undetected.
Up on deck, Evy was reading a book at a table while Devon leaned against the railing on the other side, staring out at the pyramids. Evy looks up at Devon, curious to learn more about him. She had already deduced that he was an American like O'Connell, but there was more to him that outward appearances suggest.
"Devon, you said that you were an adventurer, correct?" Evy says
Devon looks back over his right-shoulder at Evy.
"Yeah?" Devon says
"Well, it's just I'm curious as to how a young man such as yourself could actually be an adventurer." Evy says
"Evy, it's a very, very, very long story. And honestly I'm not sure if an intelligent woman such as yourself would understand any of it." Devon says
"I may not believe in fairy tales and magic, but I do prefer to keep an open mind." Evy says
Devon shrugs his shoulders and glances back out at the pyramids as he began to tell Evy about who he really was.
"Well, believe it or not, I'm a Keyblade Wielder." Devon says
Evy stares at Devon in surprise. It was almost as if she heard of the ancient weapon before.
"You're a Keyblade Wielder?" Evy says
"You sound as if you've heard of it." Devon asks looking back
"I may not have heard much about Keyblade Wielders in my life, but I have seen mentions of them in the books I've catalogued back at the museum. Every research I've looked up shows references to them in every part of ancient culture in history. Even the pharaoh Seti I was said to have met a few Keyblade Wielders in his time during the Old Kingdom. They were said to have been older than the Ancient Egyptians themselves, going back billions of years." Evy says
"I suppose you know what the Keyblade is, right?" Devon says
"Why, yes. The Keyblade is a weapon of incredible power. It is a conduit for ancient magic. A weapon of both Light and Dark, capable of performing great miracles. Keyblade Wielders were greatly revered as heroes. They defended innocent people and helped to maintain peace and justice. Ever since I was a girl, it had always been a dream of mine to meet a Keyblade Wielder." Evy says
"Would you want to have a look at my Keyblade?" Devon asks
"Why, yes. I'd be very excited to see what it looks like." Evy says
Devon smiles and nods his head. He stretches his right-hand out infront of him and summoned his Keyblade: Soul Calibur, which appears in a flash of blue light. The crystal Keyblade glows brightly with it's benevolent light and shimmers under the moonlight. Evy looks on with widened eyes and her mouth hanging open, astonishment clear on her face.
"Oh, my god. It's incredible. May I have a closer look?" Evy says
Devon turns around and sets his Keyblade gently down on the table. Evy examines it with much interest, taking in every detail of it's appearance.
"Let's see now..." Evy says
Evy begins her examination by feeling Soul Calibur with her right-hand, carefully running her palm along the flat side of the blade.
"Blue crystal. Smooth. Translucent. Intricate markings encrusted along the blade. Seems to be quite strong and resilient." Evy says
The librarian lifts the Keyblade from underneath with both hands and holds it up for a moment.
"Very lightweight." Evy says
She sets Soul Calibur back down onto the table.
"It truly is remarkable." Evy says
And right before her eyes, the crystal Keyblade disappears in the same flash of light, surprising Evy, causing her to jump with a slight start.
"Oh!" Evy exclaims
Evy looks up and saw the Keyblade reappear in Devon's right-hand before it disappears again.
"You know, both of my parents were Keyblade Wielders, too." Devon says
Evy stared at Devon in surprise.
"They were?" Evy asks
Devon nods.
"Yep. The best of the best. They were real heroes." Devon says
The young teen turns and looks back out towards the pyramids.
"But unlike me and my parents, there were those who abused the Keyblade and it's powers. And they became evil warriors of darkness." Devon says
Evy nods her head sadly.
"Yes... There were mentions of them. Evil villains who craved power, enslaved innocent people, and killed without reason. Naughty individuals who cared for no one but themselves." Evy says in a low voice
Devon looks down with a solemn expression as Evy mentioned this. He turns and glances back out at the pyramids.
"Both of my parents were killed by one. But not just by any villain. The worst sort of villain imaginable." Devon says
Evy stares at Devon with an anxious look on her face. She was almost afraid to ask who this evil Keyblade Wielder was. She soon musters up the courage and asks him.
"What was his name?" Evy asks
Devon remained silent for a moment before he answers Evy's question. His hands on the railing of the boat gripped tighter as he uttered the name of his arch enemy.
"Lord Thanatos." Devon says with hatred in his voice
Evy could tell by the sound of Devon's voice that whoever Lord Thanatos was, he must've been someone truly evil. And at the same time, she felt bad that Devon's parents had fallen victim to such a cold-hearted menace.
"He's an immensely powerful being of darkness, as old as time itself. He's still out there, you know. Hurting innocent people, torturing them. Always determined to conquer the Universe and purge the world of light. My parents fought against him many times. I've even gotten into tough scrapes with him myself in the past. I manage to defeat him at every turn, though I never know if I'll be able walk away from an encounter with him." Devon says
Evy shares a sympathetic expression.
"I'm sure your parents loved you very much, Devon. And whoever this Lord Thanatos is, I know you'll put a stop to him." Evy says
Devon smiles and looks over at Evy.
"Thanks, Evy." Devon says
O'Connell arrives and drops the gun sack onto the table, startling her and Devon.
"Oh!" Evy exclaims
"Whoa!" Devon exclaims
Evy looks up and Devon turns to his right and saw O'Connell, who smiled.
"Oh, O'Connell. It's just you." Devon sighs
"Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." O'Connell says
"The only thing that scares me, Mr. O'Connell, are your manners. Unlike Devon, who I must say is quite a well-mannered young man." Evy says
Devon smiles and nods.
"Still angry that I kissed ya, huh?" O'Connell says
"Well, if you call that a kiss." Evy says
O'Connell reaches into the gun sack and starts pulling out revolvers, pistols, hunting knives, a shotgun, and a half dozen carefully wrapped sticks of dynamite.
"Nice loadout." Devon says looking at the weapons
"Did we miss something? Are we-are we going into battle?" Evy asks
O'Connell began dismantling and cleaning his guns. And once he was done, he places them into holsters on his body.
"Lady, there's something out there. Something underneath that sand." O'Connell says rolling the chamber of a revolver and placing it in a holster on his right-side
"Yes, well, I'm hoping to find a certain artifact. A book, actually. My brother thinks there's treasure. What do you think is out there?" Evy says
O'Connell looks up into Evelyn's eyes.
"In a word? Evil. The Bedouin and the Tuaregs believe that Hamunaptra is cursed." O'Connell says
"Oh, now, look I don't believe in fairy tales and hokum, Mr. O'Connell, but I do believe that one of the most famous books in history is buried out there. The Book Of Amun-Ra. It contains within it all the secret incantations of the Old Kingdom. It's what first interested me in Egypt as a child. It's why I came here. Sort of a life's pursuit." Evy says
"And the fact that they say it's made out of pure gold makes no never mind to you, right?" O'Connell asks
"You know your history." Evy says
"I know my treasure." O'Connell says
"By the way,... why did you kiss me?" Evy asks
"I was about to be hanged. It seemed like a good idea at the time." O'Connell says
Evy's eyes widen. Furious, she gets up and storms off. O'Connell looks up, watching her leave, a bit perplexed.
"What? What'd I say?" O'Connell says
"Nice one, slick." Devon says
O'Connell looks toward Devon. Like Evy, he was curious to know more about the Keyblade Wielder.
"So, Devon, what's your story? You're obviously not related to Evelyn or her brother. Why are you tagging along with them?" O'Connell asks
Devon shrugged his shoulders.
"Well, I like to help people. I think Evy is a very nice woman. She really likes me. Jonathan, he's... okay. In his own way." Devon says
"So, you really are a Keyblade Wielder?" O'Connell asks
"Yeah. How did you know?" Devon asks
"I hear stories. Some I didn't want to believe. And I saw you summon that Keyblade while you were showing it to Evelyn. It was pretty neat." O'Connell says
"So, you were eavesdropping?" Devon asks crossing his arms
"Problem?" O'Connell asks with a raised eyebrow
"Nah." Devon says with a wave of his right-hand
"You mind if I give it a swing?" O'Connell asks
Devon shrugs his shoulders again.
"It can't hurt. Here." Devon says
Devon summons Soul Calibur back into his hand and gives it to O'Connell. The man places his pistol in his holster on his left-side and takes hold of the crystal Keyblade in his right-hand. He was amazed by how light it was. O'Connell takes three practice swings, swinging Soul Calibur left and right. Impressed with the weapon, he nods his head.
"Mmm. It's gotta nice swing to it." O'Connell says
O'Connell gives the Keyblade back to Devon, who then de-summons it in a flash of light.
"Thanks." Devon says
"So, this Thanatos creep you mentioned. The one who killed your parents. He's that bad, huh?" O'Connell says
"The worst. Trust me. You won't know evil until you see him. I've faced him dozens of times. He's very powerful and incredibly tough." Devon says
"That tough to beat?" O'Connell says
"You'd have to be very lucky to survive an encounter with him. He's capable of things so intense that it would blow... your... mind." Devon says
"Well, I say bring it on. I'd accept the challenge." O'Connell says smacking his hands and cracking his knuckles
"I just hope he's not here looking for Hamunaptra, too." Devon says
They both suddenly heard a voice behind them.
"Oh!" A voice exclaims
The Keyblade Wielder and adventurer both turn around and they saw a shadow hiding alongside a rack full of cloths and rugs underneath a staircase of the ship. O'Connell walks over calmly and silently. Once he was close enough, he grabs the figure and pins him against the rack. It was Beni.
"What a surprise! My good friend, you're alive! I was so very, very worried." Beni says
"Well, if it ain't my little buddy, Beni." O'Connell says
"You know him?" Devon asks walking over to them two men
"Yeah. I know him alright. This sly little weasel was in Hamunaptra with me at the time. He left me high and dry for the Tuaregs. I almost got shot because of him." O'Connell says
Beni smiles sheepishly.
"And you know what? I think I'll kill you." O'Connell says drawing one of his 1911 pistols and pointing it at Beni
"Think of my children." Beni says
"You don't have any children." O'Connell says
"Someday I might." Beni says
"Shut up! So, you're the one who's leading the Americans. I might've known. So what's the scam, Beni? You take them out into the middle of the desert and then you leave them to rot?" O'Connell says
"Unfortunately, no. These Americans are smart. They pay me only half now, half when I get them back to Cairo. So this time I must go all the way." Beni says
O'Connell pulls his pistol away and loosens his grip on Beni.
"Them's the breaks, huh?" O'Connell says
"You never believed in Hamunaptra, O'Connell. Why are you going back?" Beni asks
Devon, O'Connell, and Beni look toward Evy who was petting a camel near a horse paddock.
"You see that girl. She saved my neck." O'Connell says
Evy looks toward the trio, then walks off to her cabin elsewhere on the ship.
"You always did have more balls than brains." Beni says
O'Connell and Beni then began to laugh. Unknown to Beni, O'Connell leads him to the railing of the ship while Devon watches with his arms crossed.
"Good-bye, Beni." O'Connell says
O'Connell grabs Beni and chucks him over the side of the barge. Beni screams and splashes into the river.
"O'Connell!" Beni says crying for help
Devon leans over the railing and watches the wimpy Hungarian man floating in the river. He kinda felt bad for Beni. But if he really was self-preserved man, if he was really the reason why O'Connell wound up in the prison, then he got what was coming to him.
"Well, I guess he won't be getting back on deck." Devon says
Devon and O'Connell were about to walk away until they spot wet footprints going up over the railing from the river and heading down the deck. O'Connell knew he had just thrown Beni off the ship, so there was no way he could've climbed back up that fast. In fact, he was still in the river, coughing and struggling to stay afloat and catch up with the ship. The two heroes were now immediately on alert.
In her cabin, Evy was now wearing a nightgown as she continued reading her book. Her hair was now long and loose over her bare shoulders.
"George Bembridge... In 1860... Hm... 1865 was... Was... Oh, for heaven's sake, girl, it wasn't that good of a kiss, anyway." Evy says
Evy walks up to a mirror, puts her book down on a dresser beneath it, and began brushing her hair with a hairbrush. She accidentally knocks over her book onto the floor. She bends down and picks it up. But when she rose back up, she saw the Medjai with the hook in the mirror. She gasps and before she could react, the man grabs Evy by her throat and holds up his hook hand to her left-cheek on her face.
"Where is the map?" Hook asks in a demanding voice
Evy's terrified eyes glance over at a nearby table with the map lying next to a flickering candle.
"It's... It's... There." Evy says in a terrified voice
"And the key? Where is the key?" Hook asks
"The key? The-the key? What key?" Evy asks confused
"Evelyn!" A voice calls
"Evy!" Another voice calls
The door to Evy's cabin is kicked open and Devon and O'Connell burst in. O'Connell had two revolver pistols in his hands. The hook man spins Evy around and holds her infront of him using her as a shield.
The candle on the table flickers, which catches O'Connell's attention. Devon and O'Connell spins around just as a window bursts open and another Medjai burst into the cabin. O'Connell fires his gun at the Medjai, landing precise hits to his body, causing him to fall back from the window. Unfortunately, the blind fire hits a lantern in the room and kerosene splashes across the wall and bursts into flames.
Evy grabs the candle on the table and jams it back over her right-shoulder and into the hook man's eye. The man screams in pain and lets her go. Evy takes cover behind Devon as he and O'Connell head out of the flaming room into the hallway. As they race out of the room and down the hallway of the ship, Evy quickly stops and gasps as she realized something.
"The map! The map! I forgot the map!" Evy exclaims
"Relax! I'm the map! It's all up here." O'Connell says tapping his forehead with his left-hand
"Oh, that's comforting." Evy says
Back in the burning room, the hook man held his sore eye as the hot wax melted over his face. He struggles to the door, then notices the key/box on the floor.
"The key." Hook says
"Evy!" A voice calls
The voice belonged to Jonathan, who bursts into the room and unknowingly pushes the hook man into a flaming chair, sending him ablaze. Jonathan notices the key/box on the floor. He bends down and tries to grab it, but the hook man reaches it first using his hook hand. He grabs the key/box in his other hand, then swings his flaming hook hand at Jonathan, who backs away and rushes out of the room and into the hallway.
O'Connell, Evy and Devon rush out onto the deck near the horse paddock. People were shouting and screaming as the flames engulf the ship. Several Medjai throw their lit torches, spreading the fires into different parts of the riverboat.
As the Keyblade Wielder, adventurer, and librarian come out, a Medjai takes aim at them. Devon instantly summons his trusted Keyblade: Soul Calibur, and throws it at the man with a vertical toss. The Keyblade hits and stabs the Medjai directly in the chest, making him fall back dead.
The trio were about to move out along the deck until gunshots hit the wall around the corner, forcing them to take cover.
"Here, hold this." O'Connell says
O'Connell hands Evy the gun sack and began loading his revolver with bullets. Woodchips blast off the wall by gunfire and began making it's way toward O'Connell's head. Surprisingly, O'Connell was calm and relaxed. Evy saw the gunfire getting closer toward him and pulls him out of the way just in time. O'Connell looks toward Evy surprised, but soon focuses back on the firefight, drawing another revolver.
O'Connell leans out from around the corner and fires his revolvers at the Medjai above deck, gunning him down. He shoots down two more Medjai as they moved together in unison across the deck, going from cover to cover. Then, another Medjai comes at them with a crescent-shaped sword drawn. Devon quickly moves infront of O'Connell and Evy and blocks the man's sword, holding Soul Calibur over his head with both hands. The two were caught in a blade lock until Devon breaks the clash by swinging the Medjai's sword around to the left. Then, he slams Soul Calibur into the man's stomach, knees him in the face with his left-knee, and kicks him into the side with a right-kick, knocking him away.
Devon and O'Connell were able to put up a decent fight against the attacking men, but the Medjai had caused so much damage that they could no longer remain onboard the ship as flames started engulfing half the deck. The trio soon made their way to the railing of the ship.
"The fire's spreading! We gotta abandon ship!" Devon shouts
O'Connell puts away his guns and turns to Evy.
"Can you swim?" O'Connell asks
"Well, of course I can swim, if the occasion calls for it." Evy says
"Trust me. It calls for it." O'Connell says
O'Connell scoops Evy off her feet, then throws her overboard. Evy splashes into the water.
Devon and O'Connell was about to jump over as well, but then a Medjai emerges over the railing and tackles O'Connell down. The Medjai pulls O'Connell up to his feet and punches him several times in the face before kicking him back against a column. He lands another quick punch to O'Connell's face, then grabs his throat with both hands and proceeds to choke him. Eventually, the adventurer headbutts the robed man and throws him against the column. The Medjai throws a punch at O'Connell again, but this time he dodges the blow and lands several jabs to the man. He then kicks him into a room, which explodes in flames.
Another Medjai charges into Devon from the left and tackles him to the deck. The masked man pulls his right-hand to punch Devon, but the young teen quickly whacks him in the face with his right-elbow, knocking him off. He rolls to the right and jumps up to his feet as he turns to face the Medjai as he comes at him again. Devon throws a right-hook, but the man catches his hand. He throws a punch back at Devon, but he catches his hand as well. The two struggle for a bit until the young teen knocks the masked man back with a right-kick to his stomach, causing him to lurch forward. He then delivers a strong right-uppercut under the Medjai's chin and three jabs to his body, forcing him back against the railing. The man tries to fight back with a right punch, but Devon quickly ducks down and counters with left-kick to his chest, which knocks the Medjai over the side of the vessel and into the river.
Devon lets out a sigh and turns to O'Connell on his right, who was at least to say very impressed by his fighting skills.
"You got some moves, kid." O'Connell says impressed
"O'Connell! O'Connell!" A voice calls
Gad runs up to Devon and O'Connell half-panicked.
"What are we going to do?! What are we going to do?!" Gad exclaims
"Wait here! We'll go get help!" O'Connell says
"Right." Gad says nodding his head
Devon and O'Connell both jump off the ship and dive into the river. Gad turns around, facing the burning ship. It soon took him a moment to realize that he was being left behind. With a groan, he shouts in Arabic, jumps overboard, and splashes into the river.
Jonathan runs out onto the bow and saw the three Americans with guns in every hand shooting everything in sight while the Egyptologist remained behind cover.
"Americans." Jonathan says shaking his head
Suddenly, the hook man from earlier stumbles out from a door close to the American treasure hunters now a flaming torch. The hook man began to stalk toward Jonathan while he backs up against the railing of the ship. Henderson pivot and opens fire on the hook man. The man was shot over the railing and falls into the river.
"I say! Bloody good show, chaps! And did I panic?" Jonathan says
Jonathan lifts up his other hand and looks at the key/box that he had gotten back from the hook man.
"I think not." Jonathan says
Suddenly, the flames began to increase, engulfing more of the ship. Jonathan dives over one side, the three Americans and the Egyptologist dive over the other.
Daniels, Henderson, Burns, and Allen along with several diggers and explorers all wade out of the water with the horses and camels as the riverboat was now slowly sinking in the river.
"Get 'em out of the water! Get 'em out of the water. Come on, doggies! Give 'em a smack, will ya?!" Henderson shouts
"This is a messed up country." Daniels groans
Devon, O'Connell, Evy, Jonathan and Gad wade out of the water on the opposite side of the river.
"We've lost everything! All of our tools! All the equipment! My clothes!" Evy says
"At least we're still in one piece." Devon says
"O'Connell!" A voice calls
Devon, O'Connell, Evie, Jonathan and the Warden look across the river toward Beni, who was shouting across the river.
"Hey O'Connell! It looks to me like I got all the horses!" Beni shouts in a sing-song voice
"Hey Beni! Looks to me like your on the wrong side of the river!" O'Connell shouts back in a sing-song voice of his own
Beni scoffs a bit. It then only took a few seconds later for him to realize O'Connell was right. He soon began kicking the water, swearing in Hungarian.
Author's Note: Devon and the group are now on their way to Hamunaptra. O'Connell meets up with his old friend, Beni. Later on, the riverboat is invaded by the Medjai. The riverboat was severely damaged and everyone was forced to head overboard and continue on foot. Devon and the others wind up on one side of the river while the other group wound up on the opposite side. How will they get to Hamunaptra now? Let me know what you guys think. No flames please. Hope you guys like and don't forget to review!
