It was now night time as both expedition groups rested after their first day in Hamunaptra. Devon, Evy and Jonathan sat by a campfire away from the rival group.

"What do you suppose killed him?" Evy asks

"Did you ever see him eat?" Jonathan asks

"I noticed he was holding his head like something was hurting him inside." Devon says

O'Connell walks up to the trio with a shotgun in his hands and sits down between Devon and Evy with distressing news.

"Seems that our American friends had a little misfortune of their own today. Three of their diggers were, uh... melted." O'Connell says

"What?" Evy says in disbelief

"How?" Devon asks

"Salt acid. Pressurized salt acid. Some sort of ancient booby trap." O'Connell says

"Maybe this place really is cursed." Jonathan says

At that moment, an eerie gust of wind blows through the camp, making the fire flicker. Devon, O'Connell, and Jonathan share uneasy looks.

"Oh, for goodness sake, you two!" Evy says

"You don't believe in curses, huh?" O'Connell asks with a quirked eyebrow

"No. I believe if I can see it and I can touch it, then it's real. Like Devon's Keyblade. That's what I believe." Evy says

"I believe in being prepared." O'Connell says cocking the shotgun in his left-hand

O'Connell looks toward Devon.

"You know, Devon, you were pretty skilled in using that Keyblade of yours back on the boat." O'Connell says

"I'll say. Is there anything else you can do with the Keyblade?" Evy asks

"Well, the Keyblade grants the wielder a vast array of magic powers and abilities. I have the ability to wield the element of Light, but I can also wield Fire, Ice, Electricity, and many other powers." Devon says

"Well, on that cheery note, let's see what our friend, the warden believed in." Jonathan says

Jonathan opens the warden's satchel and reaches inside scrounging around. Eventually, he screams in pain and rips his hand back out of the bag, making Devon, O'Connell, and Evy jump with a start.

"What?!" Devon asks

"Oh, my God! What is it?" Evy exclaims

Jonathan sucks his finger, then reaches back into the pouch. He pulls out a green broken liquor bottle with the top chipped off.

"A broken bottle. Glenlivet, 12 years old! Well, he may have been a stinky fellow, but he had good taste." Jonathan says

The trio rolled their eyes in annoyance. Suddenly, Devon and O'Connell heard the whinnying of horses and turned left to look behind at the ruins.

"You hear that?" O'Connell asks

"Yeah. Sounds like we got company." Devon says

"Come on." O'Connell says

O'Connell and Devon both rise to their feet. Devon summons his Keyblade: Soul Calibur in his right-hand and heads off to investigate. O'Connell hands Evy his shotgun.

"Take this." O'Connell says

O'Connell draws his revolver in his right-hand before going to join Devon.

"Stay here!" O'Connell says

Evy watches as Devon and O'Connell rush toward the ruins, then immediately gets up and runs after them.

"No, wait, wait! Devon! O'Connell! Wait for me! Wait!" Evy says

"Evy! Excuse me, but didn't the man just stay here? Evy!" Jonathan says chasing after his sister

Down in the ruins, the American camp was suddenly under siege as the Medjai gallop on horseback into the camp, killing several diggers with rifles and swords, shooting and slicing them to death. The Egyptologist runs to the tents of the three treasure hunters and urgently calls them.

"Mr. Henderson! Wake up!" Allen screams

Henderson, Daniels, and Burns rush out of their tents with their guns drawn and returned fire, shooting several Medjai off their horses.

Devon, O'Connell, Evy, and Jonathan arrive on the scene as the Medjai invaded the camp. O'Connell takes cover behind a stone pillar aims his revolver and shoots six Medjai off their horses.

Devon pulls his Soul Calibur back and throws it at a Medjai with a left-toss. The crystal Keyblade spins through the air and flies into the Medjai, knocking him off his horse. He jumps down from where he was just as the masked desert warrior rises back onto his feet, drawing a crescent-shaped sword. The Medjai swings at Devon, attacking him with four left and right slashes, but the young teen blocks the sword strikes with his Keyblade. The masked warrior comes at Devon with an overhead strike, but he holds Soul Calibur up over his head and counters with a left-kick and a right-uppercut slash. He then lands several blows to the Medjai, striking him with a left slash, a right slash, and an overhead slash before finishing him off with roundhouse slash, knocking the Medjai down to the ground.

Evy had the shotgun that O'Connell gave her in her hands. She turned and saw a Medjai galloping toward her with his sword raised up. She screamed and fired her weapon, blasting the rider off his horse. The recoil from the gun knocked her down to the ground.

Jonathan took cover behind stone blocks, shooting at the Medjai with his pistol in his right-hand while still holding onto the liquor bottle in his other hand. Beni runs up to him and grabs the liquor bottle, taking a drink. Suddenly, he and Jonathan both turn and saw the Medjai leader, Ardeth Bay galloping toward them on his black horse.

"Eyallah!" Ardeth says

Beni spits out the liquor and both he and Jonathan make a run for it.

"O'Connell!" Jonathan says

O'Connell saw Jonathan being chased by Ardeth and he leaps out and tackles the Medjai off his horse. Ardeth quickly rises up on his feet and draws a crescent-shaped sword, but O'Connell shoots the weapon out of his hands. A horse rides up between them. Ardeth draws another sword and takes a swing at O'Connell. The adventurer aims his pistol at the Medjai, but his pistol was knocked out of his hand.

Ardeth was about to strike O'Connell with an overhead strike, but Devon jumps in and lands infront of O'Connell, blocking Ardeth's sword with Soul Calibur held up horizontally with both hands over his head. Ardeth notices the crystal Keyblade and he backs up in surprise. It was then that he realized that Devon was a Keyblade Wielder. Stunned by this, Ardeth calls off his riders.

"Enough! Yallah!" Ardeth says

The Medjai immediately stop their attack on the camp while Ardeth glares at Devon and O'Connell.

"We will shed no more blood, but you must leave. Leave this place or die. You have one day." Ardeth says

Ardeth mounts another horse and regroups with the Medjai.

"Yallah! Yemshei!" Ardeth says in Arabic

And with that, Ardeth Bay and the Medjai ride off on their horses and leave the campsite through the entrance to Hamunaptra while O'Connell and Devon watch as they leave. Devon de-summons his Keyblade and O'Connell places his gun back in it's holster. Once they were gone, they look toward each other.

"O'Connell, you okay?" Devon asks

"Yeah. Thanks for the save." O'Connell says

The Keyblade Wielder and adventurer turn around and they saw Evy lying on the ground shaken with the shotgun still in her hands.

"Evelyn." O'Connell says

"Evy!" Devon exclaims

Devon and O'Connell rush up to her and help her up. O'Connell takes the shotgun from her hands while Devon pulls her up.

"Hey. You alright?" O'Connell asks

"Yes... Fine... Thank you." Evy says

O'Connell holds Evy close to him.

"You sure?" O'Connell asks

"Thank you." Evy says

"See! That proves it! Old Seti's fortune's gotta be under this sand!" Burns says

"For them to protect it like this, you just know there's treasure down there." Henderson says

"No. These men are a desert people. They value water, not gold." O'Connell says

"I agree. These men seemed almost desperate to keep us from finding something in these ruins and it is certaintly not treasure. But the question is: What were they guarding?" Devon says

Burns walks up to them with some shaving cream still on his half-shaven face.

"You know, maybe just at night, we could... uh... combine forces. Hmm?" Burns says

Devon, O'Connell, and Evy look toward Burns with dumbfounded expressions.

Later that night, both expedition groups now shared one area as the tents were moved together. Jonathan was already asleep with the liquor bottle in his arms while Devon, Evy, and O'Connell were still up. Evy was a little bit half-drunk, probably from the liquor bottle that Jonathan found in the warden's satchel. She was standing up with her hands curled up in fists as O'Connell taught her how to fight.

"Hey, tough stuff, try a right-hook. Ball up your fist and put it... Put it up like that. And then mean it. Hit it right here." O'Connell says holding his hands like boxing mitts in training

"I mean it!" Evy says throwing a punch at O'Connell's right-hand

Evy nearly falls over, but O'Connell catches her. The two of them laugh and sit down by the campfire. Devon joins them and sits down alongside them.

"Ok. I think maybe it's time for another drink." O'Connell says

"Unlike my brother, sir, I know when to say no." Evy says

Evy grabs the bottle from her sleeping brother's arms and takes a drink.

"Uh-huh. And unlike your brother, miss, you I just don't get." O'Connell says

"I know, you're wondering what is a place like me doing in a girl like this?" Evy says

"Yeah. Something like that." O'Connell says

"Egypt is in my blood." Evy says

Evy shows O'Connell her golden necklace she had around her neck.

"You see, my-my father was a very, very famous explorer. And he loved Egypt so much, he married my mother, who was an Egyptian and quite an adventurer herself." Evy says

"I get your father and I get your mother, and..." O'Connell says

O'Connell looks over at Jonathan as he was sleeping.

"I get him." O'Connell says pointing at Jonathan.

The adventurer looks back up at Evy.

"But what are you doing here?" O'Connell says

"Oh, look, I-I may not be an explorer or an adventurer or a treasure hunter or a gunfighter or a Keyblade Wielder, Mr. O'Connell, but I'm proud of what I am." Evy says standing up

"And what is that?" O'Connell asks raising an eyebrow

"I... am a librarian." Evy says

Evy plops back down on her knees beside O'Connell, really drunk. She grins and proudly lifts her head high, leaning very close to O'Connell's face and looks him in the eyes.

"And now, I'm going to kiss you, Mr. O'Connell." Evy says

"Call me Rick."

"Rick." Evy says

Evy's eyes slowly begin to close. And then she passes out, slumping into his arms. Rick looks down at her, and just smiles. He then looks toward Devon, who was also smiling.

"Devon, I know that you agreed to go along with Evy and her brother on this expedition, but I get the feeling there's more to you than that. You mind telling me what you're doing here?" Rick asks

"I've been journeying across other worlds to become a Legendary Keyblade Master so that I can fulfill my destiny and make my mother and father proud." Devon says

"You mentioned that there are other worlds?" Rick asks

"Yeah. Believe it or not, there are other worlds alongside this one. I believe I was brought here for a reason. Perhaps it was to meet you, Evy, and Jonathan and help you on your expedition." Devon says

O'Connell held an amused look, actually intrigued by the prospect of other worlds, and places his left-hand on Devon's right-shoulder in sympathy.

"I'm sure your parents would be very proud of you if they saw who you were now." Rick says

Devon and Rick look toward each other and smile.

The next day, the yellow morning sun rose up in the orange sky. Despite the warnings of the Medjai, the expeditionary groups continued with their excavations.

In the Anubis Chamber, the Americans and the Egyptologist along with Beni and the native diggers return to the chamber.

"Ohwam! Ohwam!" Allen says

Two diggers reach into the secret compartment and slowly pull out a wooden ornate chest.

"Khazed. Khazed." Allen says

The diggers slowly set the chest down on the ground and back away as the Egyptologist and the three treasure hunters kneel down to inspect their find. The diggers watch fearfully, keeping a good distance away. Burns was about to open the chest, but Allen moves his right-hand away, stopping him.

"There is a curse upon this chest." Allen says

"Curse, my ass." Daniels scoffs

"Yeah. Who cares." Henderson says

"Have a care, Mr. Henderson. In these hallowed grounds, that which was set forth in ancient times is as strong today as it was then." Allen says pointing up at Henderson on his left with his left-hand before gazing back down at the chest

"Yeah, yeah. We understand. What's it say?" Henderson asks

Allen moves his left-index finger along the lid of the chest as he translates the inscriptions.

"'Imobe mak tube allahd gemielle'. 'Death will come on swift wings to whom so ever opens this chest.'" Allen reads

A gust of wind blows through the chamber, causing the torches to flicker. The diggers all run out of the chamber, shouting in fear.

"We should not be here. This is not good." Beni says

"It says, 'There is one, the undead, who, if brought back to life, is bound by sacred law to consummate this curse'." Allen reads

"Yeah, well, let's make sure we don't bring anyone back from the dead then, huh?" Daniels says

"'He will kill all who open this chest and assimilate their organs and fluids, and in so doing he will regenerate, and will no longer be the undead, but a plague upon this earth'." Allen says

The Egyptologist and the three treasure hunters stood silently for a moment until Henderson spoke up.

"Well, we didn't come all this way for nothing." Henderson says

"Yeah, that's right." Daniels says

Beni starts backing away, filled with fear.

"It's the curse. It's the curse. It's the curse!" Beni says

Beni turns and bolts from the chamber.

"Beware of the curse! Beware!" Beni screams

Allen rises up to his feet, watching him go, while Daniels, Burns, and Henderson roll their eyes.

"Stupid superstitious bastard." Daniels says

Henderson and Burns open up the chest. The seal breaks off and a black vapor blasts out of the chest.

Devon, Rick, Evy and Jonathan were back at the sarcophagus, ready to reveal who was inside it. Rick and Jonathan set the wooden coffin up against the wall of the chamber while Evy watches with excitement.

"Oh, I've dreamed about this ever since I was a little girl." Evy says excited

"You dream about dead guys?" Rick says with slight disbelief

Evy gazed upon the coffin and noticed curvings on the sarcophagus itself.

"Look, the sacred spells have been chiseled off. This man must not have been condemned not only in this life, but the next." Evy says

"Tough break." Rick says

"Yes, I'm all tears. Now, let's see who's inside, shall we?" Jonathan says

"Let's." Devon says

Jonathan inserts the key/box into the slot lock of the sarcophagus and turns it counter-clockwise. The lid cracks open with a hiss. Then, Rick and Jonathan grabs the lid and pulls with all their might while Devon and Evy watch with anticipation. It slowly starts to give way. Suddenly, it pops open and a hideous, rotten, twisted, deformed corpse jumps out. They all jump back startled, but slowly creep forward and carefully look back inside.

"Oh, my God! I hate it when these things do that!" Evy says

Devon, Evy, Rick, and Jonathan stare at the mummy in disbelief. This was a mummy they had never seen before. It was still red, gooey, slimy, and disgustingly fresh.

"Is he supposed to look like that?" Rick asks

"No, I've never seen a mummy look like this before. He's still... Still..." Evy says

"Juicy." Devon, Rick, and Jonathan say in unison

"Yes. He's must be more than three thousand years old, and, well, it looks as if he's still decomposing." Evy says

Devon soon notices something in the lid of the sarcophagus.

"Hey, check this out." Devon says pointing with his left-hand

Devon walks over and kneels down to the lid of the sarcophagus. Rick, Evy, and Jonathan gather around him as they look down at the coffin's lid, where they notice fingernail scratches all over inside.

"What do you make of this?" Devon asks

"My God, these were made with..." Evy says

Evy trails her fingers along the markings.

"...fingernails." Evy says

She gazes back at the mummy.

"This man was buried alive." Evy says

Turning back to the lid, Evy then notices something else. There were ancient Egyptian letters scratched into the sarcophagus.

"And he left a message." Evy says

Evy runs her right-index finger along the ancient characters as she translated them.

"'Death is only the beginning'." Evy reads

All four of them slowly glanced back toward the mummy with uneasy looks on their faces, wondering what he had done to deserve such a horrific fate.

Back in the Anubis Chamber, the ornate chest was now opened. Allen Chamberlain moves some cloths around in the chest, revealing a black book inside.

"Oh, my God. It does exist." Allen says breath-taken

Allen picks up the book and holds it in his hands.

"The Book of the Dead." Allen says

"A book? Who cares about a book? Where the hell's the treasure?" Daniels says

"This, gentlemen. This is treasure." Allen says

"Hell, I wouldn't trade ya for brass..." Henderson says

Daniels kicks the chest and it's side breaks open, unfolding to reveal a lower compartment. Inside are five jewel encrusted canopic jars. One was shattered for unknown reasons. They look down at the jars and kneel back down to them.

"There's your treasure, gentlemen." Allen says

"Oh now we're onto something." Burns says

Unknown to them, a dark figure watches them from the shadows with glowing red eyes. It was Lord Thanatos. He soon moves back disappearing into the darkness.

Later that night, Evy walks through the camp when she notices Allen Chamberlain with the Book of the Dead, attempting to pry it open with his hands. The Egyptologist notices Evy staring at her and he stops to look back at her.

"I believe you need a key to open that book." Evy says

After saying that, Evy walks off to join Devon, Rick, and Jonathan as they sat together by a campfire with their rivals. Henderson had the Horus bird-shaped headed jar in his hands. Burns had the Hapi monkey-shaped headed jar. And Daniels had the human-shaped headed jar.

"Say O'Connell, what do you think these babies'll fetch back home?" Henderson says

"We heard you gentlemen found yourselves a nice, gooey mummy. Congratulations." Burns says

"You know, if you dry that fella out, you might be able to sell him for firewood." Daniels laughs

The Americans laugh. Rick mocks their laughter while Devon rolls his eyes. Rick saw Evy approaching them and he saw that Beni was in her spot.

"You're in her seat. Now!" Rick says

"Yup." Beni says

The Hungarian man stands up and sits down next to Rick on his right while Evy comes over and sits down in-between Rick and Devon. In her hands was a pile of big dusty bug skeletons.

"Look what I found." Evy says

Devon takes hold of a bug skeleton and examines it in his right-hand.

"Scarab skeletons, flesh eaters. I found them inside our friend's coffin. They can stay alive for years feasting off the flesh of a corpse. Unfortunately for our friend, he was still alive when they started eating him." Evy says

"So, somebody threw these things in with our guy, and they slowly ate him alive?" Rick asks

"Very slowly." Evy says

"He certaintly wasn't a popular fellow when they planted him, was he?" Jonathan says

"I wonder what he did to be put inside a coffin with a bunch of scarabs." Devon says

"Well, he probably got a little too frisky with the pharaoh's daughter." Rick says

"Well, according to my readings, our friend suffered the Hom-Dai, the worst of all ancient Egyptian curses, one reserved only for the most evil of blasphemers. In all of my research, I've never heard of this curse having actually been performed." Evy says

"It's that bad?" Devon asks

"Yes, well, they... they never used it because they feared it so. It's written that if a victim of the Hom-Dai should ever arise, he would bring with him the ten plagues of Egypt." Evy says

"Then, it's probably best that we leave our friend where he is and not wake him up." Devon says

Devon didn't like the sound of the curse at all. If it's the curse was really connected to the mummy, he felt that it was best for the world that the mummy remained dead. Then, it occurred to him. The Medjai who attacked the camp last night must've known about the mummy. They knew about the curse and the dangers it would bring. That must've been why they wanted him and the others to leave. To protect the world from the curse of the mummy.

Later that night, everybody in the camp was asleep. Everyone except for Devon, Rick, and Evy. Evy snuck up to the Egyptologist, his jeweled canopic jar snug under his right-arm, and the Book Of The Dead laying loose under the other. She leans over, carefully steals it, and quickly tip-toes away.

Rick was lying on some blankets by the campfire while Devon looked up into the stars in the night sky. Evy walks over, sits down and stares at the book. Rick and Devon look toward Evy.

"That's called stealing you know." Rick says

"According to my brother, it's called borrowing." Evy says

"I thought the Book of Amun-Ra was supposed to be made out of gold." Rick says

"It is made out of gold. This isn't the Book of Amun-Ra. This is something else. I think this may be the Book of the Dead." Evy says

"The Book of the Dead? Are you sure you want to be playing around with this thing?" Rick says

"Judging it's name, I don't believe we should be toying with an ancient artifact such as this." Devon says

"It's just a book. No harm ever came from reading a book." Evy says

Evy takes the key/box, unlocks the book and opens it. A gust of wind followed by dark voices blows through the camp, making the campfire flicker.

"That happens a lot around here." Rick says

"Well, why do you think this place is called Hamunaptra, City of the Dead?" Devon says

Devon, Rick and Evy look into the Book of the Dead.

"So, what's it say?" Devon asks

"Ahm mun ra. Ahm mun dei. It speaks of the night and the day." Evy says

Evy begins reading the inscriptions chiseled into the stone pages of the book.

"Tzuei ah harum ootoops eymas itmeyt baiya."

In the underground chamber, the mummy was still in it's coffin with Evy's words echoing as she continued reading from the Book of the Dead.

"Eehma teto zekumi zet zuwei yahtowaie yahtowaie yahtowaie."

With those ancient words, the mummy instantly jerks to life and it lets out a loud, horrifying roar.

Back on the surface, the Egyptologist sits bolt upright and saw Evy reading the Book of the Dead. His expression was one of shock and horror.

"No! You must not read from the book!" Allen shouts

The whole camp awakens from Allen's shouting. Suddenly, they begin hearing a strange, piercing noise coming from out of the desert. They all leap to their feet as the sound gets louder and louder. Then, out from the darkness of the night, a huge mass of Locusts swarms into the camp.

"Locusts!" Devon exclaims

"Run! Go, go!" Rick shouts

Rick grabs Evy and with Devon, Jonathan, Beni, and the Americans at their side, they race for the crevice. They were able to make it to safety inside, but some diggers were not so fortunate as they were consumed by the locust swarm, disappearing without a trace. The Egyptologist is covered in locusts. He stares down at The Book Of The Dead in his arms, looking haunted.

"What have we done?" Allen whispers in a guilty voice

In the underground chambers, Devon, Rick, Evy, and Jonathan along with Beni and the Americans race into a corridor to escape from the plague.

"Where the hell did they come from?!" Burns asks

"I ain't waiting around to find out!" Henderson shouts

As the others continued running, Burns trips and falls down onto the sandy ground. His glasses falls off only a few inches from him.

"My glasses! My glasses!" Burns says

Beni was at the far back of the group.

"Leave me! Leave me!" Beni screams

"Hey! Hey! Can you help me find my gl-" Burns says

Beni steps onto Burns' glasses as he runs past him. Burns looks on in shock at his now broken glasses. Beni stops for a moment and picks up the torch that Burns dropped, but doesn't even bother to help the poor eye-sighted man.

"Wait for me!" Beni screams

Burns staggers to his feet and picks up his glasses, which were now useless. The frame was bent out of shape and the lenses were cracked. The corridor was completely dark and Burns was all alone. Squinting his eyes, he slowly walks through the cobweb-infested tunnel, holding out his right-hand infront of him, trying not to bump into anything. He uses his left-hand to feel his way through the corridor, running it along the side of the stone. Suddenly, Burns heard a moan inside the corridor.

"Who's there?" Burns asks

Burns draws his pistol and turns around.

"Who's there?!" Burns asks

Multiple dark voices echo around the area. Burns just stood there with his gun in his shaking hands. Suddenly, a dark figure walks past Burns from behind him. Burns turns around and saw a blurry dark figure standing out in the middle of the corridor.

"Daniels?" Burns whispers

Burns heard a growl behind him and turns around, but doesn't see anything. Glancing back ahead of him, the dark figure was now gone. Then, he heard the growling noise again. Only this time, it was right behind him. Burns was now paralyzed with fear. Slowly, he turns around to face whatever was behind him. When he does, he is terrified by what he saw and lets out a scream.

Devon, Rick, Evy, and Jonathan are now separated from the others as they cautiously walk into another corridor. Suddenly, the ground shakes and rumbles, causing them to stop. They look down and see a mass of sand bulging up from the ground. Then, dozens of scarabs crawl out from the sand in a large swarm.

"Scarabs!" Evy exclaims

"Run!" Devon shouts

The group quickly runs away from the scarabs, heading down the opposite direction of the corridor.

"Go, go, go! Run!" Rick shouts

Rick turns and throws his torch at the scarabs, then draws out his shotgun and starts shooting at the scarabs, blasting them three times as he retreats.

They soon make it into another room where there was a bridge going across a cavern, leading up to a staircase on the left, which led further into the ruins. On the sides were large platforms. Devon, Rick and Jonathan jumped onto two pedestals on the left while Evy jumped onto a pedestal on the right. She leaned against the wall, trying to keep as far away from the scarabs as they skitter across the bridge. Suddenly, the wall behind her gives way and she falls backwards into the opening. The scarabs skitter across the bridge and vanish up the staircase. Once the bugs were gone, Devon, Rick and Jonathan look around and notice that Evy was nowhere to be seen.

"Evelyn?" Rick says

"Evy?" Devon says

"Evelyn?" Rick says

"Evy?" Jonathan says

Evy slides down the opening and lands in another corridor. She sits up and looks around. The moonlight being the only source of light in the tunnel. Then, Evy heard a moaning sound. She turns around and saw Burns standing idle with his back facing her.

"Oh, Mr. Burns. Thank goodness. I was just starting to get scared. I've lost everyone." Evy says

Just as Evy reaches Burns, he turns around. His eyes were missing, ripped out of his sockets. Evy gasps in horror and backs away.

"My eyes! My eyes!" Burns says

Evy whips around and saw the same mummy that she and the others had dug up emerge from the darkness of the tunnel, growling as he stepped out into the moonlight. The undead creature now had two fresh eyeballs and a tongue. Evy screams loudly in horror and backs away from the living mummy. She soon found herself up against the wall with the mummy standing infront of her.

"Please help me." Evy says

The mummy looks back at the pitiful man, watching him as he crawls away on the ground. Burns opens his mouth to speak, but can only gurgle and moan because his tongue was also ripped out.

"My tongue. He took my tongue." Burns says

The mummy turns back and looks toward Evy while she shudders in fear.

"Anck-Su-Namun?" The mummy says

Devon, Rick and Jonathan went up to the pedestal where Evy was. They saw the trap door in the wall and were trying to figure out a way to open it.

"Damn it! It's a trap door. There's gotta be a switch or something around here someplace." Rick says

"We got to find her." Devon says

Suddenly, they heard screaming. It was Henderson and Daniels running out from the passageway up the staircase.

"Run, you sons of bitches! Run!" Henderson screams

They hear the chittering scarabs coming their way. Devon, Rick, and Jonathan joins them as they flee from the flesh-eating bugs. The digger that was with them trips and falls. They turn back and look toward the digger. The digger screams in horror as the scarabs swarm him, eating straight through his flesh, leaving behind the Digger's half eaten skeleton. They turn and bolt down into the passageway.

The mummy moved towards Evy and holds out his right-hand to her.

"Kadeesh mi pharos Anck-Su-Namun. (Come with me, my princess, Anck-Su-Namun.)" The mummy says in Ancient Egyptian

Devon and Rick come into the corridor from another entrance and run right up to Evy.

"There you are! Would you quit playing hide-and-seek?! C'mon! Let's get outta here!" Rick says

Devon and Rick turn and saw the mummy standing infront of them. Both of them jumped in fright.

"Whoa!" Rick exclaims

"Holy!" Devon exclaims

The mummy starts walking toward them until a voice calls out from another part of the corridor.

"Evy?" Jonathan calls

The mummy turns and looks over to it's right as Jonathan, Henderson, and Daniels enter the tunnel. Jonathan drops his torch as he and the two men behind him immediately skid to a stop when they see the undead creature and they shudder in fear. The mummy turns back and faces Devon and Rick with an angry look on it's face. Unhinging it's jaw and stretching it to inhumane lengths, the mummy lets out a horrific, primordial shriek. Rick mocks the gesture and shouts back. He shoots the undead creature at it's side on the lower part of it's decaying body with his shotgun, blasting it down to the ground.

While the mummy was down, Rick grabs Evy's left-hand and pulls her to make a run for it. Devon, Jonathan, Henderson, and Daniels quickly followed.

"Move!" Rick shouts

"Yeah. Right." Jonathan says

"Did you see that?! It was walking! It was walking!" Daniels exclaims in panic

They all run out of the labyrinth just as the mummy rises back up. The undead creature looks over to where they had left and lets out a growl.

The group manage to make it outside where the air was now clear of locusts. But they were soon met with Ardeth Bay and ten armed Medjai with the Egyptologist next to them as their hostage, forcing the group to skid to a stop. The Medjai aimed their guns at them while Ardeth pulled down his mask, glaring coldly at the group.

"I told you to leave or die. You refused. Now, you may have killed us all, for you have unleashed a creature for we have feared for more than three thousand years." Ardeth says

"Relax. I got him." Rick says

"No mortal weapon can kill this creature. He's not of this world." Ardeth says

Ardeth steps aside as two Medjai bring up Burns, carrying him by his arms. The group all saw that his eyes and tongue were ripped out. The men laid the wounded man into the arms of Henderson and Daniels, who were shocked beyond belief, and walk back over to Ardeth.

"You bastards!" Daniels growls

"What did you do to him?" Henderson asks

"We saved him. Saved him before the creature could finish his work. Now, leave, all of you, quickly, before he finishes you all." Ardeth says

Ardeth turns toward his fellow Medjai.

"Yallah! Yemshei!" Ardeth says in Arabic

The Medjai move out.

"We must now go on the hunt and try to find a way to kill him." Ardeth says

"I told you I got him." Rick says

Ardeth followed his Medjai brethren before he stops and turns back to his right, looking back at Rick.

"Know this. This creature is the bringer of death. He will never eat, he will never sleep, he will never stop." Ardeth says

Beni was still lost in the ruins having been separated from the group. He held a torch in his left-hand and a revolver in his right-hand as he stood in the Anubis chamber. Then, he turns and came face-to-face with the mummy. He lets out a scream and drops his torch and gun on the ground. Beni looks up and down at the undead creature, shuddering in fear. The mummy soon began walking toward Beni as he retreats into a corner. Beni pulls out several religious symbols dangling from some chains around his neck, hoping that one of them would save him from the undead creature. The first one he holds up is a Christian cross.

"May the good Lord protect and watch over me as a shepherd watches over his flock." Beni says

It has no effect on the mummy, who continues moving toward Beni. The Hungarian man quickly grabs an Islamic Sword and Crescent Moon necklace and holds it up.

"Yeh lei yeh lei. Teh shehon weiz. Bwa hawvonini." Beni says in Arabic

Didn't work. Then, Beni holds up a small Buddhist Bodhisattva statue.

"Cho cho woosa bahu wom. Cho cho mutom baom." Beni says in Buddhist

Nothing and still the mummy walks toward him. The mummy soon reaches out to Beni with his right-hand before Beni takes out the Star of David and speaks in Hebrew.

"Hach dech stek de nech hana mabruis." Beni says in Hebrew

It was in that moment that the mummy stops in his tracks and instantly recognizes the symbol.

"Shofehr de ghin. (The language of the slaves.)" The mummy says in Ancient Egyptian

Beni stares at the mummy confused.

"Alaeih ohaney tohmesh pahch. (I may have use for you.)" The mummy says in Ancient Egyptian

The mummy holds out his fetid right-hand before Beni.

"Wadasen... (And the rewards...)" The mummy says

Opening it's hand, the mummy presents gold and jeweled treasures as a reward for Beni's servitude.

"...eyaht dolyn. (...will be great.)" The mummy says in Ancient Egyptian

Beni gazes upon the treasure with widened eyes.

"My prince." Beni says

The Hungarian man glances back up as the mummy raises his other hand, which holds Anck-Su-Namun's broken canopic jar.

"Ariah tah kouru du tarach vanot? (Where are the other sacred jars?)" The mummy says in Ancient Egyptian

"THEY ARE IN THE POSSESSION OF THE MORTALS WHOM HAVE RESURRECTED YOU." A dark voice says

Beni looks to his right while the mummy looks to it's left upon hearing the voice . They both gaze into the darkness of the chamber and saw a pair of glowing red eyes. The hidden figure steps out of the shadows, revealing himself to be Lord Thanatos, who had his dark black cloak on. He unfurls his hood, revealing his black demonic-shaped skull. Beni was absolutely terrified of Lord Thanatos' appearance, more so than he was of the mummy. The mummy on the other hand showed no fear of the evil Dark Keyblade Master.

"I CAN HELP YOU RECLAIM WHAT YOU HAVE LOST, HIGH PRIEST IMHOTEP, IF YOU WILL TRUST IN ME." Lord Thanatos says

The undead creature, now known as Imhotep, turns to Lord Thanatos. Although he was now a cursed mummy, he could sense much power emanating from the dark being. He was curious as to how he knew his name.

"How do you know of me?" Imhotep asks for the first time in English

"I HAVE WATCHED YOU BECOME SETI'S PRIEST DURING HIS RULE IN THE ANCIENT KINGDOM OF EGYPT. AND I HAVE BEEN WITH YOU THROUGHOUT ALL THE EVENTS OF YOUR PAST MORTAL LIFE. I KNOW OF WHAT YOUR HEART DESIRES... POWER, CONTROL, IMMORTALITY. AND WHAT'S MORE, I KNOW OF YOUR LOVE FOR THE PHAROAH'S MISTRESS: ANCK-SU-NAMUN." Lord Thanatos says

Imhotep's eyes widened when he heard the Dark Keyblade Master mention his lover's name.

"You can help me restore her?" Imhotep says

"I CAN DO MORE THAN THAT. YOU MAY HAVE POWER OVER THE SANDS, IMHOTEP. BUT I CAN OFFER YOU SO MUCH MORE." Lord Thanatos says

A dark aura envelopes Lord Thanatos' entire body as he stood before the undead creature and the wimpy Hungarian man. He holds up his right-hand and black flames engulf his hand as a demonstration of his dark power. Imhotep held an impressed expression while Beni shudders in fear.

"What is this power?" Imhotep asks with intrigue

"DARKNESS. IT'S ESSENCE RESIDES WITHIN ALL CREATURES. EVEN ONE SUCH AS YOU. I CAN GRANT YOU CONTROL OVER THE DARKNESS. WITH IT'S UNTOLD POWERS, YOU COULD BRING THIS WORLD TO IT'S KNEES. IMAGINE, A KINGDOM UNDER YOUR RULE." Lord Thanatos says

Lord Thanatos glances over at Beni as he quivers next to Imhotep.

"ALL OF HUMANITY AS YOUR SLAVES." Lord Thanatos says

Imhotep looks right at the pitiful man next to him and he could see his point.

"AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, A QUEEN TO RULE BY YOUR SIDE." Lord Thanatos says

The undead creature turns back to the evil being as he summons his Dark Keyblade: The Harbinger of Shadows. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw the ancient weapon.

"I REPRESENT THE DARK ORDER, AN ETERNAL EMPIRE REPLETE WITH WORTHY INDIVIDUALS SUCH AS YOURSELF, WHICH IS UNDER THE RULE OF MY MASTER, THE DARK LORD OF THE SHADOWS, WHO POSSESSES FAR MORE POWER THAN ANY IN THE UNIVERSE. STAND WITH US, STAND WITH THE DARK ORDER AND YOU SHALL HAVE POWER BEYOND ALL YOU COULD HOPE TO ACHIEVE. EVEN MORE POWER THAN YOUR EGYPTIAN GODS." Lord Thanatos says

Imhotep stares at Lord Thanatos and he accepts his offer with a sinister grin. He enjoyed the prospect of having his own kingdom to rule. And if Lord Thanatos and the Dark Lord of the Shadows could grant him that and more, then he would gladly see them as a trustworthy allies.
