After escaping from Hamunaptra after their encounter with the mummy, Devon and the group arrive at a British fort in Cairo. This was Fort Brydon, a military outpost. As they arrive, dark grey clouds formed in the skies above their heads and thunder boomed loudly. It looked like a storm was about to hit. The group rides in through the open gates of the fort and head inside to rest.
Only a few miles away from the fort, Lord Thanatos and the mummy, Imhotep gazed out at the city while Beni stood behind them. Imhotep wore dark robes with it's hood up and a death mask over his face. Lord Thanatos wore his dark cloak with the hood up, hiding his face, save for his demonic red eyes, which glowed within the darkness of the hood.
"THE KEYBLADE WIELDER AND HIS FRIENDS BELIEVE THEY HAVE FOUND REFUGE WITHIN THIS DESERT OUTPOST, BUT ALL THEY HAVE DONE IS TRAPPED THEMSELVES. THEY ONLY PROLONG THE INEVITABLE." Lord Thanatos says
The evil Dark Keyblade Master spreads his hands out and lifts them up as black flames envelope them. The clouds got even more darker, the thunder boomed louder, and the flashes of the lightning intensified as they crackled and danced above the desert city.
"DARKNESS RETURNS..." Lord Thanatos says
In the fort, Rick and Evy both shared a room as they rested from their harrowing experience in Hamunaptra. Rick was packing a trunk with clothes while Evy unpacks it. The adventurer was intent on leaving, trying to get as far away as he could. But the young librarian, on the other hand, wanted to undo her mistake in reawakening the mummy and try to find a way to kill the undead creature.
"I thought you said you didn't believe in that fairy tale and hokum stuff." Rick says
"Having an encounter with a 3,000-year old walking, talking corpse does tend to convert one." Evy says
"Well, forget it. We're out the door, down the hall, and we're gone." Rick says
"Oh, no, we are not." Evy says
"Oh, yes, we are." Rick says
"Oh, no, we are not. We woke him up, and we are going to stop him." Evy says
"We? What we? We didn't read that book. I told you not to play around with that thing. Didn't I tell you not to play around with that thing?" Rick says
"Yes, I know, me, me, me, I, I, I woke him up and I intend to stop him." Evy says
"Yeah? How!? You heard the man. No mortal weapons can kill this guy." Rick says
"Then we are just going to have to find some immortal ones. Maybe Devon's Keyblade can stop him." Evy says
"There goes that 'we' again." Rick says
"Look, will you listen to me? We have to do something." Evy says
Evy closes the lid shut, slamming it on Rick's fingers. The man yelps in pain and sucks his fingers.
"Once this creature has been reborn, his curse is going to spread until the whole of the Earth is destroyed." Evy says
"Yeah? And is that my problem?" Rick asks
"Well, it is everybody's problem!" Evy says
"Evelyn, I appreciate you saving my life and all, but when I signed on, I agreed to take you out there and bring you back. And I have done just that. End of job! End of story! Contract terminated!" Rick says
"That's what I am to you? A contract?" Evy says in disbelief
"Look, you can either tag along with me, or you can stay here and try and save the world. What's it going to be?" Rick says
"I'm staying." Evy says
"Fine." Rick says
"Fine." Evy says
Rick starts heading for the door to the room.
"Fine." Rick says
"Fine." Evy says
"Fine." Rick says
Rick soon storms out and slams the door while Evy stood where she was, crossing her arms.
In the Cairo bar, many men were enjoying drinking wine and shots of liquor. One of these men was an old British WWI Fighter Pilot named Winston Havelock.
Winston Havelock was a thickset, jovial old man, who appeared to be in his 60's. Despite his age, Winston craved adventure and excitement, always seeking for a challenge that posed bravery and courage. Instead, he found himself accomplishing nothing except sitting around in bars drunk as a pastime. He had a large gray walrus moustache, dressed in the garb of a fighter pilot, a dark green officer's cap, cream-colored trousers with matching shirt and a badged tie.
The old pilot stumbles around in the bar, consorting with a belly-dancer girl.
"I'm the last of the Royal Force still stationed here, you know? All the other laddies died in the air and were buried in the sand. Good chaps, every one of them, too." Winston says
Rick walks into the bar and passes the old WWI veteran.
"Oh, hey, Winston." Rick greets giving the old man a pat on his left-shoulder
Winston turns around and leaves the belly-dancer, walking over to Rick as he sat down with Jonathan at the bar.
"You know, O'Connell, ever since the end of the great war, there hasn't been a single challenge worthy of a man like me." Winston says
"Yeah. Well, we all got our own little problems today don't we, Winston." Rick says
"I just wish I would've chucked it with the others and gone down in a flame of glory, instead of sitting around here, rotting..." Winston says
"Of boredom and booze." Rick and Winston say in unison
"Cheers." Winston says
Rick, Jonathan and Winston clink their small drinks together.
"Oh, well. Back to the airfield then. Ha ha!" Winston says patting Rick and Jonathan in the back
Having said that, Winston walks away. As he leaves, Rick looks over at Jonathan on his right.
"Tell me. Has your sister always been..." Rick says
"Oh, yes, always." Jonathan says
Rick and Jonathan were about to have another drink when Henderson and Daniels walk up and join them.
"Well, we're all packed up, but the damn boat doesn't leave 'til tomorrow morning." Henderson says
"Tails set firmly between your legs, I see." Jonathan says
"Yeah, you can talk. You don't have some sacred, walking corpse after you." Henderson says
"So, uh, how's your friend?" Rick asks looking left at Daniels
"He had his eyes and his tongue ripped out. How would you be?" Daniels says
In another part of the fort, Burns sat in a chair inside his quarters wearing a blue robe with bandages around his now empty eye sockets. But he was not alone. The undead mummy, Imhotep, Lord Thanatos, and Beni were with Burns in the room. Burns sat across from them with a white blindfold covering his eyes. The high priest wore his death mask while the Dark Keyblade Master had his head down hiding his identity. Lord Thanatos stood behind Imhotep as he sat in a chair across from Burns.
"I'm so... pleased... to meet you." Burns says offering his hand toward the mummy and Lord Thanatos
Burns extends his right-hand out to Imhotep, but Beni grabs his hand.
"Prince Imhotep and Lord Thanatos do not like to be touched. A silly Eastern superstition, I'm afraid." Beni says
"Please forgive me." Burns says
Burns moves his left-hand and he knocks over a cup of coffee, spilling it onto the table.
"Oops." Beni says
Beni lowers down to Burns' level.
"Mr. Burns, Prince Imhotep and Lord Thanatos thanks you for your hospitality." Beni says
"No." Burns says smiling
"And for your eyes, and for your tongue." Beni says
"Wha..." Burns says
"But I'm afraid more is needed." Beni says
"Wha..." Burns says
Burns' expression slowly turned from confusion to fear as he realized who was with him in his quarters.
"The prince must finish the job and consummate the curse, which you and your friends have brought down upon yourselves." Beni says as he moves away from the eyeless man
"No! Wait! Please! No!" Burns pleads
The mummy, Imhotep removes his death mask as scarabs scatter from his face and hide away inside his decayed head, grinning with an evil grin. Lord Thanatos lifts his head up looking toward Burns with his demonic red eyes, also with a sinister grin as the pitiful man screams in terror.
Rick, Jonathan, Henderson, and Daniels clink their drinks together as a toast.
"Good luck, boys." Henderson says
The four men take a swig of their liquor, but end up spitting the liquid back out. The rest of the patrons of the bar also spit out their drinks.
"Sweet Jesus! That tasted just like-" Henderson says
Rick, Jonathan, Henderson and Daniels look toward a fountain infront of them and they noticed that it was no longer pouring water, but...
"Blood." Rick says dropping his small glass
"'And the rivers and waters of Egypt ran red and were as blood.'"Jonathan says
A look of horror forms on Rick's face as the realization dawned on him quickly.
"He's here." Rick says
Devon stood out on a balcony in the fort, leaning against the stone railing as he looks out towards the rest of Cairo, the three pyramids of Giza, and the Nile River out into the distance. He then notices the river's water turn from blue to red with blood. Devon's eyes widen in shock and a horrifying expression forms on his face. As he stares at the blood river, his head is instantly filled with pain just like before in Nome. Devon clutches his head with both hands and he cries out in agony.
"Aaaaah!" Devon screams
The young teen experiences another vision of his homeworld: The Celestial Realms during it's invasion. He watches in horror as flames consumed his world and the waters turn red with blood just as it did now. A woman's scream pierces his ears before Devon recovers from his vision. The Keyblade Wielder holds his head with his right-hand as he leans against the doorway of the balcony. As soon as he recovered, he rushes out of the room and off to go find Rick, Evy and the others.
In the fort courtyard, Evy was walking through the courtyard, reading a book when Rick came running up to her.
"Oh, Evelyn!" Rick says
"Oh, so you're still here." Evy says
"We got problems." Rick says
Suddenly, thunder crashes in the air and lightning flashed in the sky. From the dark clouds that hung overhead, fireballs began raining down from the sky, laying siege onto the land, destroying buildings and incinerating people on the ground. People start running and screaming as they try to avoid the calamity. Some of the soldiers stationed at the fort are hit by the fiery rain and their bodies were alit with flames.
Around that time, Devon arrives in the courtyard. When he saw what was going on, it was like a nightmare come true. Again, dreadful memories flash through his mind and the young teen holds his head with his right-hand. Fire raining down from the sky, Dark clouds, thunder and lightning booming and flashing in the sky, the rivers of blood, buildings collapsing, the endless waves of death and destruction, the terrifying screams. Everything that was happening now was exactly what happened to his homeworld. In a flash of white, Devon recovers from the horrific memories of his long-forgotten past. He soon notices Rick and Evy also in the courtyard.
"Rick! Evy!" Devon calls
"Devon!" Evy exclaims
Devon runs over to the adventurer and librarian.
"Are you two alright?" Devon asks
"Yeah. We're okay." Rick says
Suddenly, Dream Eaters appear in the courtyard. These were Hebby Repps, Fishbonés, Staggerceps, and Halbirds.
Fishbonés were skeletal fish-like Dream Eaters that had three horns on it's head, four spikes going down the length of it's back, two spikes on the sides of it's body, and three spikes on it's tail fin.
The Keyblade Wielder quickly stood infront of Rick and Evy as the Dream Eaters appeared.
"What the hell are these things?" Rick asks
"Dream Eaters!" Devon exclaims
Devon stretches his right-hand out to his side and summons his Keyblade: Soul Calibur in a flash of blue light. A Halbird flies up into the air and swoops down toward the trio with it's talons extended. Devon jumps up and cuts down the Nightmare with a left-downward slash. The young teen lands back onto the ground in a crouched position and rises back up to face the rest of the Nightmares. As he does, his Dream Eater Spirits: Ryu Dragon and Tyranto Rex appear by his sides. The large dinosaur-like Spirit lets out a mighty roar, leaving Rick and Evy stunned beyond belief.
"Is that a dinosaur?" Evy asks in amazement
Before facing the Nightmares, Devon looks back over his right-shoulder at Rick and Evy.
"Rick, you and Evy hang back! I got this!" Devon says
Rick nods his head and he stays back with Evy as Devon turns back to the fight at hand and gets into battle stance along with his friendly Dream Eater Spirits.
Devon rushes straight at a Staggerceps and leaps forward with a jumping strike, swinging his Keyblade down with an overhead slash, hitting the Dream Eater in the head. He follows up with a thrusting strike, a right slash, a left-uppercut slash, and finishes with a right-diagonal spinning slash, which hits three times. Another Staggerceps charges at Devon and takes a bite at him with it's large pincers. The young teen leans all the way back, the pincers missing him only inches above his body. During his dodge, he sends the Nightmare back, kicking under it's chin with a backflip kick. Leaping forward at the stunned Staggerceps, Devon strikes the ground with Soul Calibur, launching the dark creature and himself into the air. Then, he dives down and finishes off the Dream Eater with an overhead slash.
Three Hebby Repps swing their tails and fling their spikey spines at the young teen. Devon leaps over to the right, dodging the first set of spines, jumps up with a backflip in dodging the second set, and then dodges the third set of spines with a left spinning jump. Devon aims Soul Calibur at the three Nightmares and launches three fireballs, which homes in on the dark creatures and blasts them into oblivion. A Fishboné shoots a blast of water from it's mouth at Devon, but he holds Soul Calibur out infront of him, creating a spherical barrier of light around himself, which shields him from the attack. Devon leaps up into the air with a forward flip and dives down on the skeletal-fish with his crystal Keyblade pointed downward, creating a blue shockwave of light, which destroys two other Fishbonés that were nearby.
The Ryu Dragon dashes toward a Staggerceps and kicks it's body using both it's hind legs. The beetle-like Nightmare snaps it's claws at the dragon-like Spirit, but the Ryu Dragon leaps left and right, then cuts up the dark creature with it's claws before slamming it's tail into it's large body, finishing it off. A Fishboné swims through the air towards the Ryu Dragon and spins around, swinging it's bony tail at it. The dragon-like Spirit jumps back and counters the attack with a fireball, blasting the skeletal fish to pieces. Two Halbirds fly up and flap their wings, launching spiral blades of wind at the Ryu Dragon. The Spirit jumps over to the left, dodging the wind blades, and takes to the air, hovering infront of the two Nightmares. It's wings glow with a blue light. With a screeching roar and a flap of it's wings, the Ryu Dragon shoots multiple star-like projectiles at the Halbirds.
The Tyranto Rex stomps it's right-foot down on a Hebby Repp, crushing it to dust, then grabs a Staggerceps in it's jaws and shakes it around before tossing it down to the ground. Four Fishbonés shoot their horns at the large dinosaur Spirit while three Hebby Repps flick their tails, launching their spines, but the attacks hardly had any effect. The Tyranto Rex inhales deeply and breathes a large stream of fire from it's mouth, moving it's head from left to right, reducing the Fishbonés and Hebby Repps to piles of ash.
Devon aims his Keyblade at the last Staggerceps and few remaining Fishbonés and Hebby Repps and launches a huge blast of ice, which freezes them all solid. With the Dream Eaters frozen, the young teen leaps up into the air, charges up with pure energy, and descends upon the dark creatures, slamming Soul Calibur into the ground, which creates a wide shockwave of light and crystals that spike up from the ground, destroying the Nightmares. Five Halbirds flies up to Devon and they flap their wings, launching spiral blades of wind at him. Devon jumps back and spins in the air, throwing knives of gold light at the Halbirds. The light projectiles stab the bird-like Nightmares in numerous places and after a short delay, they detonate in multiple small explosions, destroying the last of the Dream Eaters.
After the Nightmares were defeated, the Ryu Dragon and Tyranto Rex both disappeared in flashes of light. The young teen turns back to Rick and Evy, who stared at him in stunned amazement. That quickly ended when a fireball rains down from the sky, missing Devon by inches as the destruction continued. Devon jumps back over to Rick and Evy's side and they soon saw Beni heading down a staircase next to them. Upon seeing his former friend, the Hungarian man quickly turns to run back up the stairs, but Rick caught sight of him.
"Hey!" Rick says
Rick grabs Beni and pins him to the wall.
"Beni, you little stinkweed! Where the hell have you been?!" Rick says
Suddenly, they hear a blood-curdling, monstrous roar coming from Burns' quarters directly above them. Rick draws his revolver in his right-hand and they rush up the stairs while Beni runs off elsewhere.
Devon, Rick and Evy make it into Burns' quarters and hey skid to a stop as they spot Burns, or what was left of him, still sitting on the chair dead. His body was now desiccated, decayed, boned, and shriveled, completely drained of his organs and fluids, though his hair was still intact. The trio soon turn their attention toward Lord Thanatos, who had his back turned to the heroes at the far side of the room. Upon seeing his arch enemy, Devon's grip on his Keyblade grew tighter.
"Lord Thanatos!" Devon exclaims
Upon hearing his name, the Dark Keyblade Master turns around to face the trio. He stares at them with his glowing red eyes and pulls back his hood, revealing his demonic-shaped skull and his triangular mask, which covered his mouth and hid his sinister smile. Rick and Evy stare at the evil being with stunned expressions. After hearing so much about him, they finally got to meet the evil being in person. And he was everything that Devon had described. Rick aims his revolver at Lord Thanatos, keeping Evy close to him.
"Oh, my God." Evy says
"YOU ARE TOO LATE, MORTALS. THE CURSE CLAIMS IT'S FIRST SOUL. AND SOON, THREE MORE SOULS SHALL FOLLOW. NOW, GAZE UPON THE EVIL YOU HAVE UNLEASHED." Lord Thanatos says
Devon, Rick, and Evy look over to their right and they saw Imhotep standing over by the fireplace and they saw darkness envelope his body as it started regenerating. Few pieces of skin began to appear on his decayed form. His tendons rippled. His bones bulge and reformed. He turns and faces the trio, letting out a loud roar, leaving Devon, Rick and Evy stunned.
"We are in serious trouble." Rick says
Devon rushes toward Lord Thanatos and raises Soul Calibur over his right-shoulder to attack him. Without even lifting a finger, Lord Thanatos stops the crystal Keyblade only inches from his face with his red eyes looking towards it on his left. A dark aura surrounds the head of Soul Calibur, holding it in place while Devon tries to pull it back. Lord Thanatos' eyes dart back toward and he thrusts his left-hand forward, forcing Devon back and throwing Soul Calibur out of his grip. The crystal Keyblade falls to the floor and disappears in a flash of light. Lord Thanatos grabs Devon by his throat with his cold, metal right-hand and lifts him up, holding him in place high above the floor. Devon choked and gagged in his tight grip.
While Lord Thanatos was busy with Devon, Imhotep moves toward Rick and Evy. Rick quickly draws another revolver in his other hand and opens fire at the mummy, but the bullets rip through his body, which doesn't bother him at all, and only winds up destroying everything else behind him. Jonathan, Henderson and Daniels run into the room and they're all stunned at the sight of the undead mummy and the Dark Keyblade Master. Once he reaches him, Imhotep shoves Rick back with incredible strength and sends him flying into Jonathan and the two Americans, knocking them down. Lord Thanatos throws Devon back and sends him flying all the way across the room, adding him to the human pile that was already on the floor. Devon falls and lands ontop of Rick and Jonathan.
Once Devon and Rick were dealt with, the mummy turns left towards Evy, who backs up against the wall paralyzed with fear, and steps up to her.
"Khier inhni banote. Inahktin. (You saved me from the undead. I thank you.)" Imhotep says in Ancient Egyptian
Imhotep leans in to kiss Evy with his decayed face. Just as he was about to kiss her, the mummy heard a sound, which made him to stop and turn around. He saw a white cat stepping on the keys of a piano. Imhotep shrieks in fear and he spins into a swirling sandstorm and swirls out of the room through the open balcony doors, slamming them shut.
Once he was gone, the group turn their attention toward Lord Thanatos, who just stood where he was, staring at the closed doors that Imhotep flew out of. Obviously, cats had some sort of great significance in the ancient kingdom that Imhotep knew and he forgot to account for. But that would not stop him from helping the high priest regain his form.
"HMM... A TEMPORARY INCONVIENCE. NO MATTER." Lord Thanatos says
The evil being turns his head left toward the group.
"THERE'S NO PLACE YOU CAN HIDE WHERE THE CURSE WON'T FIND YOU. DARKNESS IS EVERYWHERE. WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT, DEATH SHALL COME TO CLAIM YOU. NONE OF YOU WILL LEAVE THIS CITY ALIVE." Lord Thanatos says
Having said that, the Dark Keyblade Master disappears into a dark corridor.
"Oh, man. This is definitely not good." Devon says
The next day, while still lingering over yesterday's events with their encounters with Imhotep and Lord Thanatos, Devon, Rick, Evy, Jonathan, Henderson and Daniels decided to seek professional help. They needed answers. Who was the mummy? What did he want? And was there any way to stop him? Their quest for answers brought them to the Cairo Museum of Antiquities as they walk through the halls of the building.
"He does seem to like you, Evy." Jonathan says
"Yeah. What's that about?" Rick asks
"What does this guy want anyway?" Henderson asks
"There's only one person I know who can possibly give us any answers." Evy says
Evy leads the group into a room of ancient Egyptian exhibits, where they come upon the curator, Dr. Terence. But he wasn't alone. Ardeth Bay was with him. The group's eyes widened with shock and disbelief when they saw the Medjai leader.
"You!" Evy exclaims
Rick and the Americans quickly draw their guns while Devon stood ready to summon his Keyblade.
"Miss Carnahan. Gentlemen." Dr. Terence greets calmly
"What is he doing here?" Evy asks in a demanding voice
"Do you really want to know, or would you prefer to just shoot us?" Dr. Terence asks
Everyone lightens up and lower their weapons.
"After what I just saw, I'm willing to go on a little faith." Rick says
"Do you two know each other?" Devon asks pointing between the two men with his right-index finger
Later on, everyone assembled in a private meeting, sitting around the exhibits of the late Seti I. Dr. Terence Bay starts off by explaining who he and Ardeth were.
"We are part of an ancient secret society. For over three thousand years, we have guarded the city of the dead. We are sworn at manhood to do any and all in our power to stop the High Priest Imhotep from being reborn into this world." Dr. Terence says
"And now because of you, we have failed." Ardeth says
"Even so, none of us really knew that the legends about the curse were true. If we had, we probably would've thought twice about going to Hamunaptra in the first place. But do you really think this justifies the killing innocent people?" Devon says
"To stop this creature? Let me think." Dr. Terence says
The curator pretended to think for a second before answering back with the Medjai leader.
"Yes!" Dr. Terence and Ardeth say in unison
Rick holds up his left-index finger.
"Question. Why doesn't he like cats?" Rick asks
"Cats are the guardians of the Underworld. They were worshipped in the ancient kingdom as sacred protectors since the First Dynasty and were said to represent Ra, the most primordial deity in all of Egypt. Undead creatures like Imhotep will fear them until he is fully regenerated." Dr. Terence says
"And then, he will fear nothing." Ardeth says
"Yeah. And you know how he gets his self fully regenerated?" Daniels says
"By killing everybody who opened that chest." Henderson says
"And sucking them dry! That's how!" Daniels says
"But what about that other chap that was with this bugger? Seems like he wasn't afraid of nothing. " Jonathan asks
"That I do not know. My scouts reported a mysterious being appearing in many places here in Cairo and near the ruins of Hamunaptra. We even ran into him soon after you all fled into the desert." Ardeth says
(Flashback)
After Devon and the others left Hamunaptra, Ardeth and his Medjai warriors went to go hunt down Imhotep. They soon found him with Lord Thanatos and Beni as they came up to the surface through the temple doorway. Beni hid away inside the entrance while the two villains faced the Medjai. Imhotep growled while Lord Thanatos stared at the desert warriors with his glowing red eyes. The masked desert warriors had their AK-47s trained on the two villains while Ardeth stood in-between his fellow Medjai.
"He attempted to leave Hamunaptra with the creature until we stood in his path." Ardeth says
"You will not leave this city. We won't allow your evil to threaten mankind. Surrender now!" Ardeth says in a demanding voice
"FOOLISH MORTAL. YOU KNOW NOT THE POWERS YOU ARE DEALING WITH." Lord Thanatos says
Ardeth narrows his eyes and orders his men to fire.
"Fath alnaar! (Open fire!)" Ardeth commands in Arabic
Following the command of their leader, the Medjai fired their AK-47s, shooting a storm of bullets at the two villains. Lord Thanatos extends his left-hand out infront of him and a black light shines in his open palm. A black-red wall of darkness appears before him and Imhotep, shielding them from the gunfire. The weapons were then pulled from the hands of the Medjai by telekinetic force, emitting from Lord Thanatos' stretched hand, and they floated infront of the dark being. With a flash of his red eyes and a grip of his hand, the guns disintegrate into nothingness, much to the shock of Ardeth and his men.
"Whoever this menace was, it clear that nothing would stand in his way." Ardeth says
Ardeth looked left and right at his fellow warriors and he could see the slight fear in their faces under their masks. It was clear to them that they were dealing with an extremely powerful warrior, someone who was far more terrifying than Imhotep. But dedicated to his mission to protect humanity from evil, Ardeth would not back down. Turning to the two villains, he grits his teeth, draws his sword, and gives out a battle cry in Arabic.
"Hataa almawt! (Until death!)" Ardeth says in Arabic
The other Medjai draw their swords and let out battle cries of their own. Two masked warriors moved up and charged straight at Lord Thanatos while he stood where he was.
"Then, I saw the weapon he wielded." Ardeth says
Just as the two Medjai swung their swords at him, Lord Thanatos summons his Dark Keyblade: The Harbinger of Shadows in a flash of black-red darkness and holds it up above his head, clashing with the swords of the two masked warriors with a loud clang. Lord Thanatos lifts his head up and gives the stunned Medjai a sinister grin while Ardeth's eyes widened in shock when he saw the Dark Keyblade appear in the evil villain's hand.
"It was a weapon that had not been seen for thousands of years. A weapon of untold, ancient power. It was a Keyblade." Ardeth says
The dark being narrows his red eyes and gives the two Medjai a deep, menacing growl. Then, he swings the swords away to the left and chops off the heads of the two men with a quick right slash from his Dark Keyblade, then slowly advances toward the desert warriors.
Three other Medjai charged straight at Lord Thanatos with their swords. One of them took a swing at the dark being with a left slash, but he knocks the sword away and swings his Dark Keyblade downward, bisecting the masked warrior vertically in half with a clean swipe from the head down. The other two Medjai attack together with one attacking from the left and the other on the right. Lord Thanatos blocks the Medjai on the right with his Dark Keyblade and stretches his left-hand toward the other Medjai, ensnaring him with telekinetic force. Clenching his hand into a fist, he bends the man's body completely backwards, breaking his back with loud crack of his spine before dropping him. Turning to the other Medjai, Lord Thanatos headbutts him hard with enough force to break the man's skull, leaving him dazed. Then, the dark being grabs his entire head with his left-hand and crushes it violently inwards in his powerful grip with a loud crack before dropping the dead man to the ground.
"Over a dozen of my fellow warriors fought him and none of them stood a chance." Ardeth says
The rest of the Medjai all charged at Lord Thanatos while he continues his advance, walking slowly and calmly. Within moments, the two sides clash. Despite their numbers, the desert warriors were no match for Lord Thanatos as he blocked, dodged, and slaughtered them, switching back and forth between warriors with fast speed. His attacks were swift and deadly as he takes down the Medjai with ease.
A Medjai swings his sword down at Lord Thanatos, but he blocks with his Dark Keyblade and quickly cuts him down with a right-uppercut slash, causing him to flip over. Another masked man attacks the dark being with left slash, only to be blocked and cut down with a reverse roundhouse slash. A third Medjai charges at Lord Thanatos and gets knocked into the air with an uppercut slash from the Dark Keyblade. As he falls back down, Lord Thanatos slices him horizontally in half with a roundhouse slash.
Three Medjai attack the dark being together, swinging their swords at him, but he blocks and knocks the swords away, swinging his Dark Keyblade around, switching between the warriors as he defended himself. He soon kills the three Medjai with a right spinning slash, slicing them horizontally in half across the waist. Two masked men attack Lord Thanatos from the front and the back. The Dark Keyblade Master blocks the sword of the Medjai infront of him with his Dark Keyblade held horizontally infront of his face and kicks the other warrior back with his left-leg. He swings the sword away and cuts off the man's arms with an upward and downward slash, then splits his head vertically in half with another downward slash. Turning to the other Medjai, Lord Thanatos thrusts his left-hand forward and shoots a blast of darkness at the dazed man, leaving a gaping, black-red glowing hole in his body.
"I had never seen such a warrior fight in such a vicious, ruthless nature. His strength and dark power was far superior beyond that of any mortal man." Ardeth says
A Medjai swings his sword twice at Lord Thanatos, who blocks with his Dark Keyblade, then lunges at him. Lord Thanatos leans over to the left, grabs the man's arm and twists it around counter-clockwise, breaking his arm with a loud crack of his bones as he screams in anguish, kicks him in the legs with his left-foot, forcing him down to his knees, then decapitates the desert warrior with a right slash. Another Medjai brings his sword down on Lord Thanatos, but he quickly turns to his left and holds his Dark Keyblade over his head, blocking the attack. He grabs the masked warrior by his neck and delivers a strong headbutt to his face, breaking the man's skull and causing him to stagger backwards. While he was dazed, Lord Thanatos plunges his left-hand into the Medjai's chest, literally rips out his beating heart, and crushes it in his grip before tossing the destroyed organ away as the man falls backwards dead.
Lord Thanatos grabs a Medjai and uses him as a shield to block another Medjai's sword as he lunges at him, stabbing the fellow warrior instead. He throws the dead man at the now unarmed Medjai and stabs them both with a stab of his own. The dark being turns to a Medjai on his left and thrusts his left-hand forward, hurling a powerful blast of dark blue lightning bolts at the masked man, electrocuting his entire body. The intense electric shock illuminates the Medjai's skeleton, pops his eyeballs out of his skull, and burns off all of the his flesh, leaving behind a charred skeleton as it falls to the ground.
Lord Thanatos sweeps a Medjai off his feet with a low sweeping kick, then drives his Dark Keyblade down on the man, stabbing through his body. Glancing up, he saw five masked warriors running toward him. A dark aura envelopes Lord Thanatos as he stands up straight. As fast as lightning, he teleports in between the each of his targets and cuts them down with his Dark Keyblade. He chops the head off the first Medjai with a left slash, bisects the next one across the waist with a right slash, cuts through the third with a left-diagonal slash across the upper body, stabs the next man with his Dark Keyblade through his stomach and bisects him with an upward slash, and finishes with the fifth Medjai, slicing him in half across the waist with a spinning right slash.
The last remaining Medjai clashes with Lord Thanatos, swinging his sword at him while he leans his body away, dodging the sword strikes. Eventually, Lord Thanatos blocks the sword on the fourth strike with his Dark Keyblade, holding it vertically to his right, and counters the attack with a backhand, smacking the man across the face with his left-hand, causing him to stagger backwards. While he was stunned, Lord Thanatos jabs his Dark Keyblade into the abdomen of the last remaining Medjai. The masked man froze in shock of the fatal blow. He groaned and gagged, choking on his own blood until Lord Thanatos removed his Dark Keyblade, leaving a large hole in the Medjai's body as he falls backwards onto the ground.
All of the Medjai laid dead in the sand, leaving only Ardeth Bay alone to face the dark being.
"He single-handedly defeated all of the Medjai warriors under my command with hardly any effort." Ardeth says
The Medjai leader stares coldly at the Dark Keyblade Master with anger in his eyes while he stares back at him. With a battle cry, he charges at the dark being with his sword.
Ardeth swings his sword with a right slash aimed at Lord Thanatos' neck, but misses as he leans his body back. He continues his assault with a left slash, a right-upward slash, a downward slash, and a right slash, but Lord Thanatos blocks every single blow, holding his Dark Keyblade opposite of Ardeth's sword. Upon blocking the last blow, Lord Thanatos backhands Ardeth across the face with his left-hand, knocking him back.
Now, it was Lord Thanatos' turn to strike. He advances toward the Medjai leader and swings his Dark Keyblade left and right at him with ferocious speed and strength. Ardeth defends himself as best as he could with his sword, but the dark being was far too strong for him as he manages to land blows, cutting up his robes in several places along his sleeves and chest. He soon delivers a strong downward slash and an upward slash, flipping Ardeth over and he falls flat on his stomach.
Lord Thanatos walks up to Ardeth as he grunts in pain and grabs him by his robe, lifting him up high above the ground. He turns and throws the Medjai leader far across the grounds, sending him flying into a stone pillar. The dark being's strength was so strong that his throw left dozens of cracks in the pillar. Ardeth falls and lands flat on his backside. Lord Thanatos walks up to the dazed man, grabs him by his robe again, and delivers a strong headbutt, which knocks Ardeth unconscious, instantly turning his world to black.
"I was knocked unconscious during the battle." Ardeth says
The next morning, Ardeth slowly regains consciousness as he laid on his right-side, grunting and groaning in pain.
"When I awoke, the creature was gone along with the mysterious warrior." Ardeth says
Ardeth pushes himself up, fighting the pain in his body. He tries to stand up, but he stumbles and falls back down on all fours. He then looks up and gasps as he stares in horror at the bisected, headless, charred, and skeletal bodies of his fallen Medjai brethren that laid around him.
"I was the only survivor to be left alive." Ardeth says
Ardeth looks over at his right and saw some horses that were still around. Battling against the pain, he stands up and limps his way over to the horses. He approaches a black horse and climbs up on it's saddle. Taking hold of it's reins, Ardeth rides the horse toward the exit of the ruined city. As he rides away into the desert, the Medjai leader takes a final glance back at Hamunaptra, amazed that he had somehow miraculously survived his fight with the Dark Keyblade Master. But he was also saddened by the horrific deaths of his fellow warriors and how they suffered the wrath of Lord Thanatos. Truly, he was the most dangerous threat he had ever faced. And if he was not stopped, all of humanity, no, the world would suffer at his evil.
(Present time)
"Whoever this mysterious warrior was, I fear he is a much more dangerous threat than even the creature." Ardeth says
"I know who it was." Devon says
Everyone turns toward Devon as he sat near the mannequin of Seti I on his horse-drawn chariot.
"That was Lord Thanatos. He's a demon of pure evil and is ten times more powerful than Imhotep, and pretty much anything else in existence. But he is just a servant to an even more powerful being. An evil being known as the Dark Lord of the Shadows. No one can stand up to their dark power except me. I'm the only one strong enough to stand up against them. And since Lord Thanatos is here, it only makes sense that he seeks to help Imhotep. That way, he can plunge this world into darkness and have him join their side." Devon says
Devon looks over at Ardeth, remembering that he mentioned the Keyblade.
"So, I guess you're familiar with the Keyblade, then?" Devon asks
"Yes. Many of the Medjai have served faithfully alongside the great Keyblade Wielders to protect mankind from evil. Tales of them were brought down throughout the generations. But they soon vanished from the world and became myth and legend. We held great respect for the Keyblade and it's wielders. It was a sad time when they passed away." Ardeth says
"So, that explains why you dismissed the attack on the camp when you saw me with my Keyblade." Devon says
Ardeth nods his head.
"It was fate that our paths would cross. Destiny intended that we'd stand together against the creature and Lord Thanatos. Where we would stand not just as allies, but as brothers-in-arms." Ardeth says
Devon nods in agreement.
"Great. So, not only do we have to deal with a 3,000-year old mummy, but we also have to deal with an evil, dark warrior, who wields an ancient magic weapon that is more powerful than the mummy itself." Rick says
Jonathan was touching the Seti's bow which was on display with him as he sat in the chariot when his sister stops him.
"Jonathan, will you stop playing with that." Evy says
Evy steps forward and spoke up.
"When I saw him alive at Hamunaptra, he called me Anck-Su-Namun." Evy says
Ardeth and Dr. Terence both share a pause and their expressions turned into a combination of surprise and realization.
"And just then in Mr. Burns' quarters, he tried to kiss me." Evy says
"Well, wait a minute. Just who exactly is Anck-Su-Namun? Obviously, she's a woman, right? Someone that Imhotep knew in the past?" Devon asks
"Anck-Su-Namun was the wife of Seti the First before she betrayed him for her love to Imhotep. She was his mistress while he was his high priest. Both of them murdered the pharaoh when the Medjai stormed his residence. Imhotep managed to escape, but Anck-Su-Namun was caught by Seti's bodyguards. She in turn committed suicide and Imhotep went through every effort to restore her back to living by using the black Book of the Dead." Dr. Terence says
"The book that brought him back to life." Devon says
Dr. Terence nodded his head.
"Imhotep performed the ritual with his priests to revive Anck-Su-Namun, but the Medjai stopped him before it could be completed." Dr. Terence says
Devon turns around and looks up at a life-sized mannequin of Seti I behind him.
"Wow. For Imhotep and Anck-Su-Namun to betray their pharaoh the way they did, they must've really loved each other." Devon says
"It was because of his love for Anck-Su-Namun that he was cursed. Apparently, even after 3,000 years..." Dr. Terence says
"He is still in love with her." Ardeth says
"Yes, that is really romantic. But what does this have anything to do with me?" Evy asks
"Perhaps he will once again try and raise her from the dead." Ardeth says
"Yes. And it appears he's already chosen his human sacrifice." Dr. Terence says
Dr. Terence and Ardeth gaze back at the now speechless woman as everyone falls silent.
"Bad luck, old mum." Jonathan says
"On the contrary, it may just give us the time we need to kill the creature." Dr. Terence says
"Leave Lord Thanatos to me." Devon says
Devon stretches his right-hand out and summons Soul Calibur in a flash of blue light.
"I'm the only one who match up to him with a Keyblade." Devon says
"We'll need all the help we can get. His powers are growing." Ardeth says looking up toward the skylight
Everyone follows Ardeth's gaze toward the skylight and they all saw the sun now going into a full eclipse with the moon blocking out the sun's light.
"'And he stretched forth his hands towards the heavens, and there was darkness throughout the land of Egypt.'" Jonathan says
Rick and Devon looks out a window inside Evy's residence at the British Soldiers manning the walls. Above and beyond them was a black sun.
Again, for a third time, Devon experiences another vision of the invasion of his homeworld. In this vision, he watches as a pale blue full moon shined gracefully on the peaceful realm before a black sun eclipses it, plunging the land into darkness. Devon recovers from his vision and holds his head. Rick notices the pained expression on the young teen's face and he places his right-hand on his left-shoulder.
"Hey, you alright?" Rick asks
"Yeah. I'm fine." Devon says
Devon turns and walks over to Evy as she paced back and forth in the room while Jonathan and Daniels sat down in a chair with Henderson standing behind them.
"We must stop the creature from regenerating. Who opened that chest?" Evy says
"Well, there was me and Daniels here. Oh, and Burns, of course." Henderson says
"And that Egyptologist fella." Daniels says
"What about my buddy, Beni?" Rick asks looking back at the meeting
"No, he scrammed out of there before we opened the damn thing." Daniels says
"Yeah, he was the smart one." Henderson says
"Yeah, that sounds like Beni, alright." Rick says
"We must find the Egyptologist and bring him back here to the safety of the fort before the creature or Lord Thanatos can get to him." Evy says
"Right." Rick says
Rick points at Evy with his right-hand.
"You stay here." Rick says
Then, Rick points at Jonathan, Daniels, and Henderson.
"You three, come with us." Rick says
Rick and Devon move to towards the exit of the room, but then Evy, Henderson, and Daniels began arguing in protest all at once.
"Not me. The hell with that! I'm not goin' nowhere! We're safe here!" Henderson says
"No, no! I'm not leaving this fort for nothin'!" Daniels says
"Just a minute! You can't just leave me behind like some old carpetbag. Who put you in charge?" Evy says
Rick just shakes his head and sighs. He then walks over to Evy and picks her up, carrying her over his right-shoulder.
"O'Connell! What do you think you are doing?!" Evy exclaims
Rick carries Evy towards the bedroom while she calls out to Devon and her brother.
"Devon! Jonathan!" Evy calls
"Sorry, but he's a bit tall." Jonathan says
Rick drops Evy onto the bed and turns to walk out as the young woman gets up and followed him.
"O'Connell, you are not leaving me here!" Evy shouts
Rick slams the door and locks Evy inside with a key. On the otherside, Evy was pounding the door and yelling.
"Jonathan, if you don't open this door in one minute flat..." Evy warns
Rick grabs Daniels and hands him the keys to the door.
"This door doesn't open. She doesn't come out, and nobody goes in, right?" Rick says
"Right." Daniels says
Rick looks over at Henderson on his right.
"Right?" Rick says
"Right." Henderson says
"Alright. Devon, let's go." Rick says
"Right behind you." Devon says
Rick and Devon began walking out of the room.
"Let's go, Jonathan." Rick says
"Me? Oh, I thought I could just stay at the fort and reconnoiter." Jonathan says
"Now!" Rick says
Jonathan stands up and rushes to catch up with Devon and Rick as they head out to find the Egyptologist.
It was now night time in Cairo and Allen Chamberlain scurries through the streets of the desert city, looking haunted. He clutches the Book of The Dead in his right-arm and his sacred canopic jar in the other. He was terrified beyond belief. Not only that, the streets appeared to be empty and deathly silent, adding on to the fear.
Allen hears splashing of water, a door slam shut, banging, and clattering all around him. He looks over to his left down towards another street, but saw nothing. As he looks away, a dark figure walks out from another street several meters away. He moves deeper into the streets and Imhotep appears right behind him and watches as he walks away, unaware of his presence.
On the rooftops of the buildings, Lord Thanatos watches Allen from above as he wanders cautiously about the streets. His glowing red eyes following his every movement. Allen feels as though he was being watched and glances up at the rooftops, but saw nothing except the night sky. He continues down the street as his fear rose by the second.
While Imhotep and Lord Thanatos stalked the Egyptologist outside, Beni was in Allen's office ransacking the place. He shoves away everything on desk and pull out drawers, shaking them until they were empty. Files fall out and Beni throws them aside on the floor. Devon, Rick and Jonathan soon enter the room and caught the Hungarian red-handed.
"Well, well, well." Rick says
Beni spins around and saw the trio standing by the door.
"Let me guess. Spring cleaning?" Rick says
Realizing he was in trouble, Beni turns and runs for an open window. Rick grabs a chair on his right and throws it at the wimpy man's legs, knocking him down to the floor.
"Nice shot." Jonathan says
"Oh, Beni, did you fall down? Let me help you up." Rick says
Rick strides over, grabs Beni by his shirt, lifts him up, and shoves him against the wall of the room.
"You came back from the desert with some new friends, didn't you, Beni?" Rick asks
"What friend? You are my only friend." Beni says
Rick then slams Beni onto the desk, knocking over books and papers on top.
"What the hell are you doing with these creeps, huh? What's in it for you?" Rick asks
"It is better to be the right-hand of the devil than in his path. As long as I serve them both, I am immune." Beni says
Rick picks Beni up and slams him against the wall on another side of the room.
"Immune from what?" Rick asks
"Pis kash ohlat." Beni swears in Hungarian
"What'd you say?" Rick asks
"I don't wanna tell you. You'll just hurt me some more." Beni says
"What are you looking for? And try not lie to me." Rick asks
Rick lifts Beni up to a fan spinning up on the ceiling while he screams.
"The book! The black book the Americans found at Hamunaptra!" Beni says
"The Book of the Dead." Devon says
"He wants it back. He said to me it would be worth it's weight in gold." Beni says
"What does he want the book for?" Jonathan asks
"Oh, come on. I don't know." Beni says
Rick raises Beni higher toward the ceiling.
"Something about bringing his dead girlfriend back to life. But that's all. He just needs the book, I swear. Just the book, I swear." Beni says
Beni looks toward Jonathan.
"And your sister. But other than that..." Beni says
Suddenly, they hear screaming outside in the streets. Beni kicks Rick in his legs, causing him to double over. Now freed from his grip, Beni jumps out the window and falls down into the streets.
The trio continue hearing blood curdling screams coming from the bazaar outside and they look out the window. Down below was Imhotep and Lord Thanatos standing before Allen Chamberlain's dead body. A crowd of people scream and back away from the drained corpse of the Egyptologist. Imhotep reaches down with his decaying right-hand and takes the baboon-headed canopic jar out of the man's shriveled hand while he held the Book of the Dead in his left-arm.
"Wow. He works fast." Devon says
The two villains turn and look up at Devon, Rick and Jonathan as they stand at the window. Imhotep has regenerated even further with his face slightly more human, but there was still enough patches of rotting flesh on his skin. Imhotep's mouth stretches to an inhuman size, and then a huge swarm of flies comes out of his mouth and races straight up at the trio.
"Oh, shoot!" Devon exclaims
Devon and Rick quickly slam the shutters closed. The swarm of flies hits the closed window and immediately spread throughout the street. People were screaming and flailing their arms around while Imhotep and Lord Thanatos calmly walked through the crowd.
"Great. They've got the book and the Egyptologist." Devon says
"That's two down." Rick says
"And only two to go, which leaves Henderson and Daniels." Devon says
"And then they'll be coming after Evy." Jonathan says
At that moment, realization hits Devon and his face turns to shock. Henderson, Daniels, and Evy were back at the fort. They were left alone and completely defenseless. With the Egyptologist dead, Imhotep and Lord Thanatos would be after them next.
"Oh, no! C'mon! We need to get back to the fort! Now!" Devon says
The Keyblade Wielder and the two men turn and race out of the office.
Back at the fort, Daniels stares out a window, looking down at the guards as they patrol the fort. He soon turns away from the window and begins heading out of the room.
"The hell with this. I'm going downstairs, get me a drink. You want something?" Daniels says
"Yeah, get me a glass of bourbon." Henderson says
"Ok." Daniels says
"And a shot of bourbon." Henderson says
"Sure." Daniels says
"And a bourbon chaser." Henderson says
Henderson rises from his chair and places his hawk-shaped canopic jar on the chair.
"Yeah! Yeah! I'll get your damn bourbon!" Daniels says heading down the hallway
"Don't worry about the door." Henderson says
Henderson closes the door and was now alone in the room. The American cowboy turns to his canopic jar and began twirling his gun in his hand like he was in showdown.
Suddenly, a breeze blows in through the open window, spooking Henderson as he quickly turns to his left and aims his pistol. He slowly moves toward the window and looks outside. He sees nothing and retreats back into the room.
As he steps back, a blast of wind and sand hits Henderson and knocks him back, followed by a loud roar. The American is lifted into the air in a sandy cloud as he flailed his arms and legs, screaming in terror. All the life in Henderson's body is sucked out of him. Once he was fully drained, he's thrown across the room like a ragdoll.
On the wall above him, the shadow of the swirling sand condenses forming the shadow of a human body. It was Imhotep, who has now regenerated even further. He looked much more human, but his face still had small patches off rotting flesh. Lord Thanatos appears into the room through a dark corridor and stand alongside Imhotep on his right. They soon direct their attention toward the bedroom where Evy was kept. A scarab crawls from Imhotep's robe into his left-cheek, disappearing underneath his rotting flesh. Imhotep chews on the scarab as though it were a snack and walks toward the room with the Dark Keyblade Master by his side, stepping over Henderson's corpse.
In the bedroom, Evy had calmed down and was sound asleep in her bed. As she slept, sand seeps in through the keyhole of the locked door, pouring onto the floor in a large mound, which soon transforms into Imhotep. Lord Thanatos appears in the room through another dark corridor and stood nearby as Imhotep approached Evy in the bed. The high priest sits down on the right-side of the bed and looks down at Evy as she slept.
"Anck-Su-Namun." Imhotep says
Thinking of his lost love, Imhotep leans down to Evy, shuts his eyes, and kisses her with his decaying mouth. Evy stirs awake and muffles a scream as Imhotep's rotted mouth kisses her. In that moment, the doors burst open and Devon, Rick, Jonathan, and Daniels rush into the room.
"Hey! Get your ugly face off of her!" Rick shouts
The two villains direct their attention toward Devon and the group as Evy quickly stumbles away from Imhotep and takes cover on the other side of the bed. Imhotep looks toward the group and hisses a retort at them in Ancient Egyptian.
"Inack hak yeht!" Imhotep says in Ancient Egyptian
"Hey. Look what we got." Rick says
Rick holds up the white cat in his hands at Imhotep, who shrieks and stumbles back in fear while the cat hisses. He roars angrily and spins around, bursting into a whirlwind of sand. Everybody turns away and shields themselves as Imhotep escapes the room, flying out through a nearby open window and slams it shut. The only villain left in the room with them was Lord Thanatos as he stood where he was, not troubled whatsoever with Imhotep having fled.
"THREE SOULS CLAIMED BY THE CURSE. ONLY ONE REMAINS. IMHOTEP'S REGENERATION IS NEARLY COMPLETE. AND ONCE HE IS RESTORED, NOTHING WILL SAVE YOU FROM HIS WRATH..." Lord Thanatos says
The Dark Keyblade Master narrows his eyes at the heroes.
"NOR MINE." Lord Thanatos says
Having said that, the dark being disappears into a dark corridor. Once the villains were gone, Devon, Rick and Jonathan look toward Evy.
"You alright?" Rick asks
"Well, I'm not sure." Jonathan says
Devon and Rick look toward Jonathan with skeptical looks on their faces.
Later that night, Devon, Rick, Jonathan, Evy, and Daniels drive up to the museum and meet up with Dr. Terence, and Ardeth Bay. They stride through the museum, going up some stairs to the next floor up.
"Well, according to legend, the black book that the Americans found at Hamunaptra is supposed to bring people back from the dead. Until now, it was a notion I was willing to believe." Evy says
"Believe it, sister. That's what brought our buddy back to life." Rick says
"Yes. And I'm thinking that if the black book can bring dead people back to life..." Evy says
"Then maybe the gold book of Amun-Ra can kill him." Devon says
"That's the myth. Now, we just have to find out where the gold book is hidden." Evy says
"Then, we better start searching." Devon says
Suddenly, loud chanting is heard coming from outside. They all rush over to the upper windows and look down. Outside the museum was a large mob of Cairo citizens all under some sort of trance as they chanted Imhotep's name, wielding sickles, knives, daggers, and other sorts of weapons.
"Last but not least my favorite plague, boils and sores." Jonathan says
"They've become their slaves. So it has begun, the beginning of the end." Ardeth says
"Not yet it hasn't." Devon says
"Devon's right. We can still find the Book of Amun-Ra. C'mon." Evy says
The group moves away from the window and continued with their investigation to find the golden book of Amun-Ra.
Outside, Imhotep and Lord Thanatos led the entranced mob toward the museum. Beni followed the two villains a few feet behind them.
"Keitay dho mei sho meh khan!" Imhotep says in Ancient Egyptian
The mob comes up to the huge front doors of the museum, which was locked and pound furiously against it, constantly chanting Imhotep's name.
Inside the museum, Evy was examining a stone tablet, running her right-finger along the surface as she tried to decipher the Book of Amun-Ra's location.
"According to Bembridge scholars, the golden Book of Amun-Ra is located inside the statue of Anubis." Evy says
"That's where we found the black book." Daniels says
"Exactly." Evy says
"Looks like the old boys at Bembridge were mistaken." Jonathan says
"Yes. They mixed the books up. Mixed up where they were buried. So, if the black book was inside the statue of Anubis, then the golden book must be inside..." Evy says
Suddenly, the doors to the museum were slammed open by the mob, who now began swarming into the museum.
"Come on, Evy. Faster." Jonathan says
"Patience is a virtue." Evy says in a sing-song voice
Devon, Rick, and Ardeth gazed down at the floor beneath them and they saw the brainwashed townspeople storming into the room they were in.
"Not right now, it isn't." Rick says gazing back at Evy and shaking his head
"I think I'll go and get the car started." Jonathan says taking off
"I got it! The golden Book of Amun-Ra is at Hamunaptra inside the Statue of Horus!" Evy says
Evy turns around with a big grin of victory on her face.
"Take that, Bembridge scholars!" Evy says
Jonathan runs out the back way of the museum and toward the driveway where the open convertible car waited for him. But before he could reach it, a group of enslaved townspeople come running out of the museum towards him. Jonathan turns to face them, but soon comes up with an idea that just might save his life. He turns his back to the zombified slaves and began chanting Imhotep's name, acting like he was zombified himself.
"Imhotep. Imhotep." Jonathan says
The crazed mob goes back to chanting Imhotep's name and they walk forward in their zombie-like state, falling for Jonathan's trick. Once they were gone, Jonathan runs back and leaps into the convertible to get it started just as Devon, Rick, Evy, Daniels, Dr. Terence and Ardeth Bay run from around the corner of the museum and make a dash for the car.
"Let's go, let's go, let's go! Get this thing in gear, boy! Let's get out of here!" Daniels shouts
"Evy. Come on, Evy. Hurry up!" Jonathan says
Beni steps out of the museum and sees them get into the car. He then calls out for his masters.
"Imhotep! Lord Thanatos!" Beni calls
Imhotep and Lord Thanatos appears at the upper windows of the museum. Imhotep lets out a horrific, primordial shriek in a demonic tone. Lord Thanatos jumps out through the windows, causing glass to fly everywhere, and lands behind the group with a loud thud just as the mob rush out of the museum and towards the car.
"You're gonna get yours, Beni! You hear me?!" Rick shouts
Jonathan soon got the car started and the group takes off into the streets.
"You're gonna get yours!" Rick shouts pointing at the Hungarian man with his right-hand
"Oh, like I've never heard that before!" Beni says
The convertible shoots down the narrow streets, but it soon screeches to a stop as another crazed mob blocks their path. Rick then slams his foot onto Jonathan's foot, hitting the gas pedal while he yelps in pain. The car began driving straight toward the mob.
"Hang on!" Rick says
The car plows through the mob, sending crazies flying. Some of them leap onto the car, but Devon, Rick, Ardeth, and Dr. Terence Bay fight them off. Devon and Rick both punch two crazed citizens off the car. Jonathan swerves the car and crashes through some stalls, knocking some of the zombified citizens off. Rick grabs a crazed citizen and throws him against the car three times before throwing him off. Ardeth punches a crazed citizen off the car behind them while Dr. Terence shoves another zombified citizen off the car. Evy pokes a brainwashed citizen in his right-eye, causing him to scream in pain. Devon punches him in the face and sends him off the car. Two crazed men jump onto the car and manage to grab hold of Daniels.
"O'Connell! O'Connell!" Daniel calls
The car makes a sharp turn and Daniels tumbles out of the car and across the pavement with the two zombified citizens. The group couldn't turn back to pick up Daniels without risk of getting swarmed by the mob and they kept on driving. Daniels quickly jumps to his feet and draws two pistols, shooting the two crazed men dead. He then backs up into a corner, firing his pistols at the hideous rabble. He manages to kill several crazies before his guns run out of ammo leaving him defenseless. The mob stays back standing idle and stare at him like vultures.
The mob soon stands aside as Imhotep and Lord Thanatos walks through them up to the American treasure hunter. Daniels drops his pistols and shudders in fear. The two villains soon stood before him. Daniels reaches into his pocket and pulls out his jackal-headed canopic jar, holding it out for Imhotep. But that wouldn't save him from the mummy's wrath. Imhotep lets out a horrific shriek and Daniels screams as the life is sucked out of him. Beni, who stood with the mob, turns away as he couldn't handle the gruesome sight.
The convertible crashes into barrels full of water and they all leap out of the car while the brainwashed mob surrounds them. Rick grabs a torch on the ground and waves it at the zombified men as they all back away.
"Move, move, move!" Rick says
The mob continued to chant Imhotep's name. And then, as if on que, Imhotep steps through with Lord Thanatos and Beni. Imhotep was now fully regenerated looking as young, handsome and muscular as he was the day he was buried alive.
"It's the creature. He's fully regenerated." Dr. Terence says
"Keetah mi pharos. Aja nilo isirian." Imhotep says in Ancient Egyptian
"Come with me, my princess. It is time to make you mine forever." Beni says translating for Imhotep
"For all eternity, idiot." Evy says
"Koontash dai na. Aielio." Imhotep says in Ancient Egyptian extending his right-hand out
"Take my hand and we shall spare your friends." Beni says translating for Imhotep
Ricks scoffs.
"That's a lie and you know it! You'll just kill us anyway!" Devon yells
The group remains silent.
"Oh, dear. Have you got any bright ideas?" Evy asks
"I'm thinking. I'm thinking." Rick says
"You better think of something fast because if he turns me into a mummy, you're the first one I'm coming after." Evy says
Evy began walking over to Imhotep.
"No." Rick says drawing his pistol
"Don't!" Evy says
"No!" Ardeth says holding Rick back
"He has to take me to Hamunaptra to perform the ritual." Evy says
"She is right. Live today, fight tomorrow." Ardeth says
Rick remains hesitant, but he soon puts away his gun back in it's holster and looks toward Imhotep with a cold glare.
"I'll be seeing you again." Rick says
Imhotep smiles and walks away with Evy in his grip.
"Evelyn!" Rick says
Lord Thanatos holds out his right-hand toward Jonathan. The key/box is pulled out of Jonathan's upper jacket with telekinetic force and Lord Thanatos catches it in his hand.
"Hey! That's mine!" Jonathan says
The two villains began walking away through the mob.
"Ichha meih! (Kill them all!)" Imhotep says in Ancient Egyptian
"No! Let go of me!" Evy says
The mob began to close in on the group.
"Goodbye, my friend." Beni says
"Come here, you..." Rick mutters
Rick throws his torch at the mob and quickly bends down and pulls open a manhole cover.
"C'mon!" Rick says
"What about my sister?" Jonathan asks
"We're gonna get her back!" Rick says
Rick shoves Jonathan into the manhole. Devon jumps in next as the mob began to move closer. Dr. Terence draws a sword and began swinging at the mob to hold them off. Ardeth jumps into the hole after Devon. Rick looks toward Dr. Terence, who was trying to fend off the mob.
"C'mon! Give me your hand!" Rick says
"You go! Go!" Dr. Terence shouts
Rick hesitates at first, but he soon jumps into the hole. The mob began to surround and swarm the curator. They soon close in on him and he screams as his life was ended.
Author's Note: Behold! The Curse of the Mummy! Imhotep's curse now envelopes the city of Cairo. Most of which was similar to what occurred during the massacre of the Celestial Realms. Devon and the group try to stop Imhotep from regenerating, but their efforts proved futile. Now with the help of Lord Thanatos, Imhotep seeks to resurrect Anck-Su-Namun using Evy as a human sacrifice. Will Devon, Rick, Jonathan, and Ardeth Bay be able to save Evy from Imhotep's ritual? And if they succeed in defeating Imhotep, will the group be able to stand up against Lord Thanatos' dark power? Only one chapter left until we finish off in the world of The Mummy!
