Chapter 3

The Color Purple

"Who's there?" Rosette screamed, "Show yourself!"

"Rosette, I think you should use your inside voice, in fact you woke me up. You should know better to scream so loud. After all,"

Rosette and Joshua turned around to realize that the person who was talking to them was Ewan Remington.

"We don't want anyone to accidentally step into here, now would we?"

"Mr. Remington? I thought that you didn't work here!" Joshua asked.

"I don't. I just was…well…you see…"

He sat down and looked as if he was in deep and serious thought. Then he turned around and looked straight at Rosette and Joshua.

"Hey, why don't you two do through that door and get that box off of that wooden box and then I'll explain everything to you."

The door Mr. Remington meant was to door that lead to the darkness within the glass.

Rosette and Joshua looked at each other both thinking the same thing. What is he up to? What is he trying to pull? And most importantly: What does he want from us?

"Fine," Joshua answered, "just give us a flashlight. It's really dark in there. It looks like midnight!"

"Joshua what are you thinking? You can never tell these days what peoples' true intentions are!" Rosette yelled.

"C'mon sis, it's not like he's going to test us like experiments or something!"

"Ok then. But if something feels funny in there, we're leaving!"

Joshua and Rosette carefully walked down the stairs and turned on the flashlight that was sitting on the ledge connected to the railing of the stairs. As they went down, a light down in the distance started to flicker on and off. When the finally reached the end of the hallway, they saw a box on top of the wooden box, just like Mr. Remington said.

"Dang, why does this box have to be so heavy? Can't he just get someone else to do it?" Rosette whined.

"Rosette, it's not like it's that—oh my gosh."

"What?"

"Is that…"

"Is that a what Joshua spit it out spit it—"

Rosette turned around to see his pale face.

"A coffin?"

The emblem on the coffin was a unique one. Instead of the traditional ruby or sapphire engraved the cross, there was purple quartz. Slowly, the coffin started to open and what was revealed in that coffin, was a young boy with purple hair. The light suddenly flickered on and a bright flash of light filled the room for a second, then disappeared leaving the room full of light.

"Oh my gosh! That was so scary! I thought there would be a dead body but this?"

Rosette sighed with relief and touched the boy's face.

"This Joshua is not a dead body!"

"No, I'm not dead."

Rosette and Joshua turned around to see that the boy who was in the coffin wasn't quite lying down like they first saw him. In fact, he was sitting up and had a smile on his face!

Rosette and Joshua went as white as flour pale and stood in shock.

"Rosette?" the boy said in question, "Joshua?"

Rosette & Joshua looked at each other and looked at him.

"RUN!" they screamed. And run they did. They ran as fast as they could back into the hallway, back up the stairs, and back into the control room.

"So," Mr. Remington said with a smile, "I see that you have met Chrono, haven't you?"
